What weird pregnancy cravings do you think Astoria MC would have in each LI route and how would they handle middle of the night cravings?
HMMMM well we have a couple canon ones already and i admit i dont know much about what a pregnant person might crave, but i hope this is fine anyways! :)
With Hades, she had a thing for pickles. He says she was putting them in their smoothies for a week straight (poor guy). She was also baking up a storm of, I imagine, very funky tasting items. Some came out fine, I’m sure-  pumpkin chocolate chip, apple oatmeal, raspberry banana crumb muffins. But then you’ve got the chocolate zucchini ones, the bacon-and-orange ones, the white chocolate and spinach ones. (Hades couldn’t look at spinach for an entire week after those batches.)
When it came to midnight cravings, MC always felt bad about waking Hades up when he already attended to her the entire day. She’d try getting out of bed herself, without disturbing him, but he was either always wrapped around her, or she just couldn’t get out of bed quietly enough, even with her aura muffling the sounds. Hades would always get up and hold her closer to him, kiss her on her cheek or forehead or neck, and ask what she wanted. When he gets it out of her (because she does try to resist most of the time, wanting to do it on her own), he goes and grabs whatever she wanted and a glass of water. He stays up with her until she’s fallen back asleep and he’ll rest easier after that.
For Astraeus, she had a thing for junk food. Astraeus makes a few jabs about her eating those weird little pickled fish that she used to hate, but she can’t stop eating them. What tips her off to being pregnant at all is when she reached for a bottle of soda, which she never drinks. Her cravings here are probably a little less weird since it’s more of a pain to go and get ingredients/snacks when you live in Tartarus than it is if she lived on the surface or Olympus. (She can only ask Astraeus, Selene, or Helios to get her a bag of chocolate covered potato chips so many times before she starts feeling bad about it-)
Midnight cravings are easy- Astraeus is so in tune with her and very attentive. She usually doesn’t even have to ask before he’s gone and gotten whatever it is she was craving just then. He’ll gently sit her up and let her eat, and rub soothing circles on her back that drain any tensions leftover from the day. He often takes time after she’s fallen back asleep to watch her and listen to her heart until he’s dragged back under sleep’s embrace as well
For Alex, she bakes just as much as she does in Hades if not more. All her food combos are weird, and honestly she’s just very lucky that Alex will eat just about anything if it’s made by her. They do draw the line, though, when she tries making orange mint chocolate chip cookies. They shudder at just the thought of them. Other than that, she’s simply got a sweet tooth and Alex often brings her a ‘surprise’ slice of cake from a nearby bakery they’re both fond of. (’Surprise’ because it stopped being one when it became a near-daily thing)
MC knows how hard Alex works, so she does her best not to wake them whenever she wakes up in the middle of the night with some odd craving. Sometimes it’s pickle ice cream, which they unfortunately have in their freezer, sometimes it’s pasta with chocolate sauce, and other times it’s something like cereal with whipped cream on top. Whatever it is, she can almost always successfully get out of bed and to the kitchen without disturbing Alex. However, in spite of her carefulness and quiet, Alex always wakes up before she’s finished and comes out to be with her. They might have a bite to eat too, and when they’re both done, they insist on carrying her back to bed, where they snuggle up with each other and fall asleep.
For Hydra, she becomes more obsessed with Hydra’s terrible cup ramen than he himself is. She hates it, too, but god she can’t get enough of it? Hydra thinks it’s hilarious at first because she’s finally seen the light, but it gets to a point where even he thinks it’s too much. That’s when you know it’s bad. At the very least, this is also a time where macarons are plentiful in the apartment. She learns a lot about making them and practically perfects her technique during her pregnancy. She always makes a few normal batches with flavors she knows Hydra likes, but the rest are.... not to be tasted by anyone else. (She makes a batch of cheeto-flavored, cheese-dusted macarons one time and suddenly her macarons are Not allowed to leave the house).
Midnight cravings with Hydra are a little frustrating, if only because every time she tries to get out of bed to get herself something, Hydra stirs and pushes her back down. It’s sweet, but it happens Every Singly Time without fail, and she always feels so bad that he has to get up. But he insists, and he’s incredibly loving as he does it. He teases her a little and she’ll tease back. Sometimes he’ll bring her back a little of her current craving and smirk when she starts eating and say something like, “If you wanted a snack so bad, I was right here.” She’ll try (and fail) to shove him out of the bed, and ends up laughing into his chest. He laughs with her, and gets up one more time to throw away the trash before settling into bet with her again.
For Medusa, she’s a little more tame in terms of food cravings. She still bakes a lot, but it’s more normal stuff than weird. She’ll ask Medusa about any older Greek recipes she can try to make, much to Medusa’s joy. She’ll maybe add a few little twists to a recipe, but nothing too bad, really. The worst she probably gets with Medusa is when she tried to incorporate bacon into her tea cakes which was a disaster, really. (She ate all of them, though. Medusa’s tea didn’t deserve that.)
Medusa is very affectionate when MC gets a midnight craving. Before anything, she’ll sprinkle kisses all over her face, smiling when MC does. She’ll ask if MC wants to get up with her, or if she’d like to stay in bed. Regardless of which she chooses, Medusa gets her the food she’s wanting and will sit down with her after making both of them a cup of tea. MC will rest her head on Medusa, and Medusa will card her fingers through her hair, whispering sweet nothings and ‘i love you’s. She’ll also grab a book she’s been reading to MC and read a few more passages, until MC has fallen back asleep. If theywere in the living room, or garden, or kitchen, Medusa carries her back to bed.
For Cerberus, she can eat all three of the brothers under the table. And that is saying something. Cerberus basically encourages her to try whatever weird food craving she’s having, and he’ll try it too! He’s not particularly picky and he likes pretty much anything she does. He and his brothers are totally on board with her cravings, even when it’s something like peanut butter cheeseburgers topped with ice cream. They went nuts for that.
With Cerb, midnight cravings are a little bumpy because he never knows how much to bring her. He’s always bringing too much and get’s flustered when she says so, but it’s very endearing that he cares so much and wants her satisfied. She shares with him when he’s got too much, of course, and at some point Cerberus says that he’ll miss their midnight snacks when the baby is born. To which she says, they’ll probably still be able to have them anyways since the baby will keep them up. He smiles wide at that. When they finish eating, they lay back down and cuddle against one another. He’ll talk about their future together and how excited he is to meet their little one until they’ve both fallen back asleep
For Chimera, she’s very adventurous with her tastes. Chimera will try anything once, even though half of what she ends up making or wanting is just straight up Bad. His own dishes (that somehow always have hot dogs as an ingredient. How? No one knows) are always right up her alley though, so he does a lot of the cooking when she’s pregnant. She has a particular craving for hot sauce during this time and puts it on everything. Every. Thing. Her cereal? Yep. In her coffee? Yes. Ice cream? Definitely.
Midnight cravings with Chimera are a little silly, because he’s a silly guy. He’ll wake up when she does, even when she tries to keep quiet. He goes and gets her something to eat but on the way back in, he’ll be flirting up a storm, pretending to be her waiter or the chef himself. It always gets a little laugh out of her, which keeps him smiling, too. She’ll flirt back, or say how cheesy he’s being, and then he’ll crack a joke about cheese. They both go back to sleep with smiles on their faces.

(long; end of day thoughts)
Reading How Not to Die, by Dr. Greger and Gene Stone. Got the book from the library in mid-December, I think, but have barely opened it through the holidays. Too much going on, too much pulling me away from healthy eating.
I checked off boxes on the Daily Dozen app again today, which I haven’t done in awhile. I hit 13 of 24 boxes. Gave me occasion to look back over the past several weeks and consider what my diet’s really been like.
Dismayed to realize I don’t eat greens or beans voluntarily very often at all. I’ve never liked greens much, despite how good they make me feel, so I have to pay attention to eat salads and throw handfuls of greens into everything I cook, and have smoothies pretty regularly. As for beans, I don’t dislike them, but I haven’t trusted them in a long time and it’s a hard habit to overcome. Going from fearful avoidance to eager celebration is taking longer than I thought.
Increasing other good things has been easier, I noted. An average of 5 days a week I eat oatmeal with flaxseed meal, a bunch of blueberries, a banana, a bunch of cinnamon, and a spoonful of nut butter (almond or peanut most often). About half of that time I also include hemp seeds and/or chia seeds.
With regard to oil, I’ve switched to lining my pans with parchment paper instead of aluminum foil when I roast veggies, so I almost never use oil in roasting. I use water for sauteing about half the time, too. I’ve been experimenting with applesauce when I bake, but I don’t bake often so that’s a minor change.
My tea consumption has increased (and coffee consumption gone way down): chai, earl grey, and peppermint almost exclusively.
I eat a wider variety of grains and starchy foods now: oatmeal, whole grain bread from a local bakery, rice blends of brown and wild and sprouted, quinoa blends and sprouted, sweet potatoes & yams, small red and yellow and purple potatoes. (I also eat a lot of rice pasta, which I should cut back on.)
This all feels good. Like, good. Like how it’s supposed to be. Edenic. Wholesome, healthy, strength, peace. All that. Shining in the sky and musical. (ps I’m high)
But, despite these improvements, my health is still pretty shit. :)
So I’m glad to be reading How Not to Die and reinvigorating my care muscles. Whole Food Plant Based is the way to eat, I believe and must do better to inhabit.
And for exercise, I made a decision. In the morning, when I go to the coffee shop for real internet, I’ll be downloading and paying for the yearly subscription to Zombies, Run! I used to have it and I loved it. It was super motivating and fun, and the yearly subscription is less than a single month at any gym around here.
In other news, I am becoming obsessed with subscription boxes.
I loved my stint with a panty delivery service even though I opted not to stick with it beyond my 6 month initial purchase. Now I’m searching for one that’ll be a better fit for my body, budget, and needs. I’m also considering trying a bra delivery service as well, or whole matching sets. They’re much more expensive, though (for good reason), so I’m hesitating.
I also bought myself 3 months of weekly watercolor painting kits this week! I’m going to use them to help me with my art production (and training) for my small press. Also for funsies, duh.
I’d love to find a wfpb meal delivery service I can afford (local would be ideal), because making some of my meals ready to go and healthy would be life-improving, as we all know. But I don’t want to rely on them totally--I love cooking!
Did you know there’s a subscription service for succulents? This could get totally out of hand.

LET’S TALK BANANAS
I am literally obsessed with bananas; it is an essential part of my breakfast whether I’m having a smoothie, an oatmeal or something else. However, apart from being useful and tasty as hell, they are also very beneficial for our health.
Bananas - one of the world’s most appealing fruits, used all over the world - are native to tropical Indomalaya and Australia. They were likely first domesticated in Papua New Guinea.
World’s countries have adopted different ways of cooking and consuming this wonderful fruit. In India per example. it is used in many desserts such as kheer, gulgulas, sheera and they also use it in various other dishes - they even put it into kebabs!
Nutritionally speaking, banana is a perfect low cal - high energy food; per 100 grams it only has 90 kcal and 23 g of carbs, 2,6 g of fibre, 12g of sugar and 1,1 g of protein. All good. But now, let’s talk about more interesting facts about bananas and why everyone should incorporate it into our daily meal plan.
BANANA MEGA FACTS:
1. They are high in soluble and insoluble fibre. = makes you feel full longer + it’s good for your heart health.
2. Potassium + calcium + B6 + iron + niacin + riboflavin + manganese + vitamin C + folate + vitamin A + magnesium + Iron = BANANA
3. They support digestion and metabolism.
4. They fight anaemia, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer and asthma.
Now, if those four reasons aren’t enough to make you go buy some bananas, let me tell you a secret - they are a great cure for a hangover ... tested firsthand :P
WAYS TO EAT BANANAS:
1. Smoothie - peel it, cut into small pieces and freeze overnight. Next morning put it into a blender with liquid of your choice (milk, juice,  plant milk, water ...) and some other frozen fruit ( I recommend mango, pineapple, avocado or forest fruits). Blend and enjoy!
2. With peanut butter - banans and peanut butter are best friends, seriously. Cut it and top a toast or rice cracker on which you had spread peanut butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon *o*
3. With yoghurt - get some yoghurt and put it into a bowl, top it with some oatmeal, cut banana and other toppings (nuts, seeds idk, be creative!)
4. Oatmeal - nothing better than a warm oatmeal on a cold autumn or winter morning. Personally, I like to cook my oatmeal with plant milk, some salt and cinnamon and a half of mashed banana. The other half I use to decorate it!
5.
Cookies
- I have this great and healthy recepie for chocolate chip cookies; if you are having a sweet tooth check it out the
link: https://petite-fit-linguist.tumblr.com/post/180232366404/oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cookies
Overall, bananas are a great addition to your daily menu. Good carbs and high in fibre, what else could you wish for to start the day in the best way possible??

Peanut butter choc protein smoothie ✨ I’ve been obsessed with this smoothie combination lately it’s so good. I just add 2 cups of almond milk, a frozen banana, 1 scoop of @180nutrition chocolate hemp protein powder and 1 tbs peanut butter. To be honest I’ve never tried hemp before but I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not really one to use much protein powder on a regular basis but I’m really loving this one and have been having it every day after my workout! The best thing about this protein powder is it contains essential omega 3 fatty acids which a lot of other protein powders lack! It also doesn’t have any added sugars or nasty chemicals, all 100% natural which is hard to come by in protein powders. I really recommend it #myfood #vegan #plantbased

smoothie klance au?? i guess
you would not guess how many half-written AUs i have in my drafts that become WAY TOO LONG for me to ever consider publishing in a text post. yes this is a short one.
keith makes smoothies for a living. it isnt a big deal until it is.
one night, this dude comes in. who cares about build-up, we all know its lance, and he looks frazzled. he sits at the counter and orders the fruitiest smoothie on the menu. keith makes it and doesnt think much of it, except to note that something about this kid is just... weird?
1: hes coming in alone, which people their age usually dont. 2: hes dressed pretty nicely. 3: hes just sitting there??? drinking a smoothie??? not even scrolling on his phone or anything, just looking around and slurping. okay weirdo. 4: he seems off. keith does not use the word “aura” on a regular basis but lance has an aura. (which does not make sense to keith, who barely understands his own emotions, let alone someone else’s.)
lance thanks keith, and leaves like thirty minutes later. hes certainly not the weirdest customer keith has ever served, but for some reason that random, singular dude sticks out in his mind.
but the shifts come and go, and gradually keith forgets about lance.
until he comes back in again.
its a lot like it was before. lance is dressed nicely, seeming miffed about something, or not miffed, exactly, but hes clearly not happy, and this time he orders a peanut butter and chocolate smoothie, and hes just as quiet as before, only this time hes rapidly tapping away on his phone instead of memorizing the inside of the restaurant, and keith is almost glad because it means he gets to sneak glances at this guy more casually??? like, hes had weird people in here before, and lance definitely isnt the weirdest, but enigma customers are intriguing to keith and he takes what he can get
the third time, its raining. lance is drenched, droplets running down the side of his face and under the collar of his (white, button-up) shirt. he smiles sheepishly at keith from across the room and sits at the counter, nearly having tripped on the way over because he didnt bother to wipe his shoes on the interior mat and created on the floor as he crossed the room.
he orders a strawberry and banana smoothie. keith has been preparing for this. he attempts small talk.
“nasty weather,” he says.
lance nods. “yep.”
god, that was horrible.
keith hands lance his smoothie, his change, and hides at the far end of the counter. lance alternates between staring at his phone and watching the rain hit the windows and slide down the glass. sometimes, he sighs.
the fourth time, its the middle of the day. keith is just getting off his shift, but he imagines himself whipping around and demanding to stay later just so he can serve this random kid he knows nothing about???? his eyes are trained on lance as he walks out the door. he thinks lance glances at him. for the first time, keith wonders if lance comes in when keith is not there.
months pass, and lance comes in on the regular. its clear now that when he comes in, he is not happy. in fact, he seems to be getting less and less happy, judging by the fact that he starts to order mega-sized blueberry blitzes.
and then lance disappears
and keith isnt obsessed with the guy, he doesnt, like, notice except for the fact that he totally does. where the fuck did lance go???
but, you know, whatever. a customer is a customer. keith thinks about him sometimes, but lets it go for the most part.
until he doesnt.
its four more months before lance comes in again. leaves have fallen off the trees and scarves recently appeared in the street overnight. and now, all of a sudden, in an autumn sunset, lance stumbles through the door and throws himself into the nearest chair. keith can hardly believe his eyes.
“what can i get you?” he asks lance, and he thinks lance understands that keith recognizes him. still, lance takes a moment to answer, like he has to pick every part of himself off the ground first. he drags a hand down his face. looks up at the menu. looks down at his hands.
“fuckin... i dont know, man. you ever experiment with ingredients and stuff? like, on your break, you make yourself a smoothie thats not on the menu?”
keith cannot say that he has. “you want something thats not on the menu?”
“yeah...” says lance. “something with chocolate, though. i dont care how much it costs.”
its completely out of place for keith to ask why lance looks like utter shit. hes a smoothie maker, not a bartender. also, he still doesnt even know lances name. and yet.
“what am i trying to fix with this smoothie?” he asks. “rough day? heartache?”
“bingo!” says lance, a bite in his words. he laughs like he wants to die. “dont skimp on the chocolate, man, please.”
keith nods and tries to remember things that lance has ordered in the past (its never been the same thing twice) so he can use that to guess what lance would like. chocolate? what went well with chocolate??? strawberries--people dipped strawberries in those chocolate fountains. and bananas went well with strawberries. strawberry-banana with chocolate. it might be disastrous, might be passable. keith improvises a little on the portioning, delivers the finished product to lance with a pained face.
“i have no idea how this will taste.”
lance shrugs, pays the man, and sticks a straw in it. though keith has other customers, he waits for a reply. lance doesnt give him one. his face is stubbornly unreadable. but, he doesnt choke it back up, so keith doesnt make him anything else. he, regrettably, must now face the other distractions customers.
hes never focused less on what he was making. his goal is to get the order and send it out the door. in the meantime, lance sits at the counter, sucks down his smoothie, and stares at the back wall of the room as though he has recently been hollowed out. keith wonders just what the hell has been going on in this dudes life the past three months.
finally, the line empties out. keith scoots back to lance’s seat. “can i get you anything else?”
lance sets down his 3/4 finished glass (keith has to act fast) and shakes his head.
“we have cookies,” keith offers.
lance snorts into his shoulder. “man, how pathetic do i look? pity eyes and cookie offers and free conversation.”
keith drops all pretense. “what happened?”
lance hangs his head, his shoulders slumping. “i was really hoping that i wouldnt be coming back to this goddamn place for a long time.”
keith doesnt know what to say to that. he knows that it isnt about the smoothies, but he doesnt want to pry directly into lance’s life, so he says, “the smoothies arent that bad.”
“no. the smoothies are great. perfect pick me up. it just sucks that im back to needing pick me ups.” he takes a long sip of schroedinger’s disaster-passable smoothie, and instead of saying anything, keith remains silent, an invitation for lance to explain more. “i used to come in here all the time a couple months back."
“i remember,” says keith, unprompted, because he feels like lance will respond well to honesty right now.
lance raises his eyebrows but doesnt comment. “okay. well, its super lame, and youre going to think im a total loser considering you remember me, but its sort of a personal tradition for me to come in here... after i have a bad date. but i met this dude and we hit it off and we’ve been a thing for almost four months now. and then today...” he makes a soft, sad noise as his hand plummets and crashes on the counter. “he broke up with me.” keith frowns.
“that sucks.”
“yeah,” says lance. “it really, really does. so fuck guys and girls and dating in general for a while. lancey lance is going to take care of himself from now on.”
keith blinks in surprise. lancey lance. “your name is lance?” he asks.
“since day one.”
keith offers what he hopes is an encouraging smile. “keith.”
“well, keith,” says lance, standing, “keep up the good work.”
he slides a five onto the table and heads for the door. keith frowns down at it for a moment. as lance leaves, he calls over his shoulder, “its a tip!”
after that, keith doesnt see lance for a while, but now, knowing why, thats a satisfying thing.
but also, knowing that lance is into dudes and actively looking for love is a worrying thing. keith would have to be blind not to see how attractive lance is, and after their brief but insightful conversation, lance’s happiness is on keith’s wish list. lately, a particular train of thought has been running repeatedly though keith’s head: lance wants someone who is not a jackass; i am not a jackass.
but it would be totally weird for keith to ask lance out. besides, lance isnt coming into the restaurant anymore. keith physically cant ask him on a date. perhaps that is for the best.
and then, one saturday afternoon, the planets align. keith has had a confident morning, business has been steady all day, and he rolled out of bed looking good. lance walks in. contrary to keith’s power mood, lance looks like hes been recently hit by a bus and scraped off the pavement. he makes eye contact with keith on the doormat and gives a rueful smile. keith smiles sympathetically in return.
“maybe im just destined to die alone,” lance says, halfway through his coconut-key-lime whatever. “or i’ll find true love when im like thirty. which would be a bummer. im cute now.”
keith grins. hes leaning nonchalantly on the counter, a cleaning rag tossed over his shoulder. “the world is full of idiots,” he says consolingly.
lance’s eyes bug out. “im one of them!” he protests. “clearly! what am i doing wrong? keith? buddy? my man??? today, my date walked out in the middle of the movie. it wasnt even a bad movie! i have no idea what i did, but clearly she just had enough. i tried texting her, but my messages wouldnt deliver. i think she blocked me.”
“what movie did you take her to see?”
“die a virgin 3.”
“i think i might see the problem.”
“its a tasteful movie!” lance protests. “the whole franchise gets a bad rap because of one bad scene in the first movie, but this one is great! it has keaton lovinsten in it. who doesnt like keaton lovinsten? i was practically drooling over him from the first-- oh. oh. i think i know what might have turned her off.”
keith snorts. “i certainly wouldnt like it if i went out with a dude and he started eye-fucking someone else.”
casually slip into the conversation that you like dudes. good one, keith!
“i wasnt-!” lance turns beet red. “it was a movie! hes a celebrity! and there is no way it was that bad.”
“she clearly thought it was.”
lance’s head falls onto the table. “im hopeless,” he says, but he seems to feel better about saying it now. something in keiths chest settles. he thinks about the alignment of the planets and decides that he cant do this yet. hes going to let the universe keep on rotating, and he’ll catch his opportunity the next time. for some reason, he wants to take this slowly.
so lance continues to make keith’s workplace his lovelorn HQ. keith continues to give him sympathetic pats on the back, one time even literally, and eventually he feels comfortable referencing lance in conversations with others as “my friend lance...”
meanwhile, lance goes on date after date with countless people who are not keith. the jealousy is starting to eat at keith, but he can endure it because he only ever sees lance on the tail end of these tragic romantic encounters, when all lance wants to do is complain about their big noses and loud chewing. still, keith starts to feel like hes playing with fire. on any random day, lance could find someone who makes him very happy, and he would suddenly disappear for good.
on a snowy thursday, lance enters the restaurant with a shiver. he pulls off his mittens and waves to keith, who smiles and waves back over the pigtails of a little girl. when its lance’s turn to order, he appears pleasant, if worn down. he orders extra whipped cream.
“what went wrong?” keith asks good-naturedly, lounging an elbow on the counter.
lance hesitates a moment before answering. he unwraps his whole straw, sticks it carefully in his smoothie, and drinks, before saying, “actually... nothing. i mean, not nothing, but... it wasn’t a bad date this time, it was just, i dont know, weird.”
keith prickles. he doesnt like the idea of lance having a date that wasnt overtly bad. “what made it weird?”
“what was weird was that it was good, but it was with someone bad. well, not bad. hes not bad, he was never bad, but, like, he kind of broke my heart, so...”
keith flashes back to the night lance told him about his bad-date-tradition. he frowns. “your ex?”
lance stirs his smoothie pensively. “yeah. he apologized for a lot of stuff and said hes changed, and, like, i dont know what to do with that. i thought i moved on, but considering im still not seeing anyone, maybe its a good idea to try again. i mean, if its what he wants, and its what i want, then what could go wrong? its not like he was a dick, he was always nice to me when we were together...”
lance’s voice fades out. keith is trying to think of all the ways he can coolly scream THAT IS THE WORST IDEA without sounding suspicious or biased. its a damn good thing that lance is staring into his smoothie instead of at keiths face, because keith is not keeping it together. he had taken too much of his sweet time, and now lance was heading back into a relationship, and keith had to decide if he was going to try to break that up, or watch lance fall in love again.
“how do you know hes changed?” keith asks carefully. “how do you know the same thing wont happen again?”
lance eyes keith for a moment instead of replying. then, he goes back to stirring his drink. “he seemed different. it felt like he had changed. he looked good...”
“you look good,” says keith. lance’s eyes flash up to him, and keith feels his face burn, his mind shouting, idiot! idiot! idiot! “i mean! i mean that you have changed, too, so you shouldnt be hasty about this decision. you should... look at all of your options.”
“do i even have other options at this point? my other option is stay lonely and unhappy.”
“or.” keith licks his suddenly dry lips. “you could try going on a date with me.”
silence rings loudly in his ears. he cant look at lance. he cant believe he just did that. he just said it, just like that, just put it out there for the world to hear. for lance to hear.
lance asks, “do you mean that?”
keith finally looks at him, and takes it as a very good sign that instead of revulsion or discomfort, he sees surprise. surprise and something happy. it gives him the courage to smile.
“yeah,” he says. “i mean it. you could finally see me out of this stupid apron. i mean! you could see me in my normal clothes.”
lance coughs hard into his hand, and keith’s soul withers with the knowledge that they are both currently thinking about keith naked.
lance recovers, albeit with a heavy blush on his face. “i’d like that,” he says. “but, um, just so you know, if it goes badly and you decide you hate me, im buying a blender and making my own smoothies after that.”
“that’s fair, but i dont think it will go badly,” says keith. “let me give you my number.” he pulls a napkin from the dispenser and scribbles on it with a pen, slides the napkin over to lance. when did it get so hot in here?
“thanks,” says lance, folding it and putting it in the pocket of his sweatshirt.
neither of them know what to talk about now.
“um, when are you free?” keith offers. “theres a new exhibit at the gallery that my old art teacher contributed to. its space themed, i think. we could go see it.”
lance nods. “that sounds fun. oh man, this is so awkward. im so sorry. im just still trying to register the fact that you actually asked me out. i did not think that was ever going to happen.”
keith cant help but think, me either. shiro is going to be so proud of him.
and, in a moment of bravery, he decides that he likes to see lance so bashful and awkward. he cant help but press his advantage. keith sticks out a hip, leans forward on the counter, and says, “was i too subtle before?”
but it seems like keith accidentally started speaking a language that lance understood. immediately, lance turns on the charm, a smile stretching over white teeth. keith is only shocked for a moment, and he doesnt let it show. lance says, “a little. thats okay. i like shy boys.”
keith wills himself not to get flustered. “how do you feel about motorcycles?”
“motorcycles?” lance repeats, genuinely interested.
“yeah,” says keith, still smiling. “i could teach you how to ride.”
lance gags a little bit on his straw. keith laughs and leaves him sputtering to tend to a pair of kids who just came in. by the time hes finished making their drinks, lance has disappeared, and in his place is a little napkin with a smiling face and the line: am i your bike? because its easy for you to get my motor running.
keith swipes it out of public sight, grinning, and stuffs it in his pocket.
the date does not go badly. it goes very, very well. keith shows up on his motorcycle, and lance is both impressed and excited to ride it. he hugs keith tight around the middle, whooping loudly, and when they pull into a parking spot, he stumbles off the seat like a champion, drunk on adrenaline, eyes shining. keiths heart sprints. they check out the exhibit and lance amuses keith by making ritzy, intellectual comments such as, “the artist has a certain je ne sais quoi, a, how do you say, need to fuck the canvas” that have keith choking back laughter in an effort to remain respectful. it goes so well that keith has the courage to take lance’s hand halfway through the exhibit, to which lance looks down and says, “gay.” afterwards, even though they didnt plan to, they go out to eat at a diner and split a large order of fries. lance has a unique, deeply personal drink (1/3 mountain dew 1/3 cherry coke 1/3 pepsi with a shot of dr pepper) which he graciously allows keith to try. keith periodically catches himself imagining scenarios wherein he and lance show up on each others doorstep for surprise dates or lounge together half-asleep in pajama pants, lance playing video games while keith watches vine compilations on youtube. afterward, because neither of them want to go home, keith takes lance for a spin on the motorcycle just to feel lance hold onto him, and they end up parking outside a place that is very familiar to them both.
“what are we doing here?” lance asks. he frowns at a large milkshake painted on the window. inside is the counter he’s has spent much of the last six months moping at.
keith checks over his shoulder. “i thought it would be rude to ask if you were coming here after, but if you wanted to, i figured it would be polite to drop you off.”
lance shoves keith in the side, laughing. “shut up, you bastard. you damn well know that this was a good date. take me home.”
keith obediently revs his motorcycle, and they take off together. over the roar of the bike and the wind, keith does not hear lance say, “the best date.”
they arrive back at lance’s house. lance is still awkward clambering off the bike, but its better this time. keith boots down the kickstand, and when he turns back up, lance is right there.
“the best date,” lance says, knowing full well that keith is going to hear him this time. he pulls off keith’s helmet, steps close, and keith only has a flash of realization for whats about to happen before lance kisses him.
“the best date,” keith agrees, awestruck.
“i’ll text you,” says lance.
“can’t wait,” says keith.
lance’s hands are still fisted in keiths jacket. “i think this is the part where you drive away.”
“or it’s the part where i ask if i can see you again. are you free this weekend?”
“if im not, i’ll move plans. count on it.” lance lets his hands fall. “you look good out of the apron, by the way.” he hands keith his helmet. “safety first. dont ruin your face, or i might not go out with you again.”
keith rolls his eyes. “its been a privilege.” he wants to kiss lance again. “see you friday.”
he starts his motorcycle, checks over his shoulder, and kicks off onto the road, leaving lance watching after him. he cant believe its only wednesday.

Loss of Smell Adds Insult to Injury for Those in Quarantine
Tumblr media

An innocuous but annoying new COVID-19 symptom emerges
Drew Kerr realized it when he was eating sriracha on top of breakfast leftovers from Flushing’s Chinatown. Shirley Adelstein knew when she took a sip of mango seltzer. And Katy Foley discovered she had lost her sense of smell when her husband came running into the kitchen asking what was on fire. Her salmon was burning in the oven and she had no idea.
The loss of smell, which affects one’s ability to detect flavor, is one of the more innocuous suspected side effects of the novel coronavirus now spreading around the world. Last Friday, ear, nose, and throat doctors in the UK sounded the alarm on this new symptom, telling people who experience a loss of smell (ansomnia) to self isolate. Many doctors and health officials in the United States are following suit, calling for it to be added to the official list of symptoms to prevent spread from otherwise asymptomatic patients. Thirty percent of positive cases in South Korea, where testing is widespread, presented with this symptom, according to the ENT report. In Germany, two in three confirmed cases have ansomnia.
The symptom, which can last days or weeks and comes with or without congestion, is believed to be temporary and, compared with the lethal dangers of the virus, low on the list of concerns surrounding this pandemic. In the grand scheme of things, being unable to taste your wine stash for a week is not a big deal. But it can feel like an especially cruel blow to a population already deprived of social contact, daily routines, and, increasingly, ability to work.
“When you lose your sense of smell, you realize how much joy you tie up in the ritual of eating and how much joy you associate with it. Suddenly nothing is enjoyable when you put it in your mouth,” says Maisie Wilhelm, a food world consultant who is two weeks into being sick and just started to gain her sense of smell back after four days without it. “It’s so sad.”
One of the few pleasures of self quarantine is eating and drinking, cooking and baking — and plotting out what to eat, drink, cook, and bake. Traffic to recipes sites is spiking. Restaurant chefs and bartenders with a sudden surfeit of time on their hands are teaching virtual classes on Instagram and Facetime. Many Americans stocked up ahead of this pandemic with creative and ambitious cooking projects in mind. As Americans hunker down for an indeterminate amount of time at home, we turn to food.
“I was invited to some Slack groups for therapeutic baking and cooking that people have been doing and have just have no interest right now,” says cookbook author and illustrator Michele Humes, who fell ill last week and lost her sense of smell four days ago. “People are suggesting that I bake as an abstract intellectual exercise, and no I’m not doing that.”
Humes stocked up her kitchen with all the foods she thought she would want during quarantine and a potential sickness, including hundred-year eggs and pork jowls for congee, and now she only wants to eat food that’s salty. “I got a deli to delivery me a peanut butter banana smoothie. It’s just a simple thing that I can get down,” she says. Wilhelm mourns the cookie dough wasting away in her fridge that she made just before losing her sense of smell.
Kerr, a publicist who lost his sense of smell four days ago but is otherwise asymptomatic, says his inability to smell killed his ambition to cook at all. “I bought all these meats and ingredients for my kitchen and with all this isolation time, I figured I would try new recipes,” he says. Adelstein, a research analyst in D.C., is saving her best quarantine snacks like ice cream for when her senses return. “It is no fun to stress eat when you can’t taste anything,” she says.
Eater’s own Adam Coghlan in London made a stew loaded with garlic to try to shock his taste buds back to life, to no avail. Today he’s trying dishes laced with chilies, garlic, fish, and soy sauce. “I hope it brings back to life my cherished ability to taste.” Others report having tried Vick’s Vaporub, sucking on lemons, putting raw garlic on toast, eating the spiciest and the most acidic food available, and obsessively smelling vinegar bottles in desperation.
Experts say the loss of smell is the temporary effect of the virus attacking the olfactory nerve, and many COVID-19 sufferers report smelling and tasting flavor again within a few days to a week from the onset. In the meantime, Molly Birnbaum, a food writer and chef who lost her sense of smell for eight years after a car accident, suggests playing around with the other senses.
“There are a number of things I did when I couldn’t smell. One is playing around with texture, because you can still feel things in your mouth — combining smooth and crunchy things or using hot sauce because you can feel it on your tongue with the trigeminal nerves.” she says. “Also combining temperatures of things. Something hot with something cold. I ate a lot of ice cream with hot fudge when I lost my sense of smell.”
Birnbaum suggests playing with the color and the symmetry of food, and testing which foods trigger which sense receptors on the tongue. And above all else — to be patient.

The 5 Best Weight Watchers Recipes Shared at Meetings The Holy Mess
Tumblr media
Disclosure: This page may contain affiliate links. This means at no additional cost to you we may receive a commission if you purchase a product from one of our links. We only recommend products we love. Are you looking for some great Weight Watchers recipes to enjoy yummy food while you lose weight? These 5 best Weight Watchers recipes shared at meetings are guaranteed to be delicious. I got such a kick out of writing this post. As someone who has been using Weight Watchers programs on and off for the last 20 years, I love a good tried-and-true Weight Watchers recipe. WW Recipes Shared at Meetings If you’ve ever attended Weight Watchers meetings, you know how WW meetings work. While there’s some variation, each WW meeting follows the same routine… You start by standing in line to weigh in. The leader and staff are Weight Watchers members who are maintaining Life Time status. The group discusses the topic of the week, such as healthy snacks, emotional eating, and tips for tracking points. And, there’s always a recipe. I’ve attended WW meetings in a number of states (at least 4) and it never fails that there is a recipe of the week written on the paper flip chart. Before cell phones, we all quickly copied the recipe into our little notebooks. These days we all pull out our phones and snap a quick photo instead – easy. Finding Good Weight Watchers Recipes I’ve been pinning these best Weight Watchers recipes from meetings to my Weight Watchers Pinterest Board (click here to follow) because there’s something about these recipes that takes me back to all my years as a WW member. Do you have an old Weight Watchers recipe you love, or one you are trying to find? Please share in the comments below. When it comes to old WW recipes, proceed with caution! Sometimes the points listed are for previous programs and are no longer accurate for today’s program. I recalculated the Smart Points for each recipe below for WW Freestyle smart points as 1/2019, using the WW app.
The 5 Best Weight Watchers Recipes Shared at Meetings
Here are 5 of the best Weight Watchers recipes shared at meetings, plus a few bonus recipes that you will love, too. 1. Weight Watchers PB2 Smoothie/Weight Watchers Butterfinger Shake This Butterfinger shake is a delicious Weight Watchers shake/smoothie recipe. If you’ve been a WW member for long, you know we are a bit obsessed with PB2. Peanut Butter is high in points, but with PB you get the same delicious flavor for a fraction of the points. Stir it into oatmeal, swirl it into yogurt or light cool whip, or make a smoothie. PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter Bundle (2 Chocolate Peanut Butter And 1 Peanut Butter) Keep in mind that with Weight Watchers if you use fruit in a smoothie, you have to count points for blended fruit, so this recipe is nice in that you don’t have to count additional fruit points. This treat really hits the spot when you are craving something sweet. PB2 Smoothie/Weight Watchers Butterfinger Shake Ingredients 1 carton Premier Protein, chocolate 2 T PB2 1 T Sugar free butterscotch jello pudding mix Freestyle Smart Points: 4 points 2. Weight Watchers Hash Brown Potato Soup This Weight Watchers soup recipe has been floating around for years. This soup is popular with members because it’s easy and low in points. I’ve seen a number of variations for this recipe including leaving out the gravy mix and using light cream of chicken soup instead. Feel free to add chopped chicken breast to bump up the protein if you’d like. Weight Watchers Hash Brown Potato Soup Ingredients 4 cans chicken broth 1 package frozen O-Brien potatoes 1 packet country gravy mix Freestyle Smart Points: 2 points each for 8 servings 3. Weight Watchers Caramel Apple Fluff This Weight Watchers Fluff recipe has been around for a-a-ages – at least 20 years and maybe more. I’ve made this a number of times and also a variation that uses pistachio pudding, pineapple, and cool whip (no added fruit). I also make a great WW Pumpkin Fluff recipe while you can get here. All WW Fluff recipe varieties are good, but this Caramel Apple one is probably the most popular. Personally I don’t think it tastes like caramel apples because of the pineapple in it, but it is yummy. Weight Watchers Caramel Apple Fluff Ingredients 4 apples, diced 1 box sugar-free butterscotch pudding mix 1 small can of crushed pineapple 1 regular sized tub of fat free cool whip Directions: Drain pineapple slightly. Mix all ingredients and chill. Freestyle Smart Points – 1 point per cup 4. Weight Watchers Chocolate Donut Cake This recipe brings a newer ingredient to the scene, Kodiak Pancake mix. Kodiak Cakes Power Cakes: Chocolate and Crunchy Peanut Butter Combo Pack, 18 oz. each Kodiak is a high-protein pancake mix that can be used for a wide variety of baked goods like pancakes, cakes, and muffins. The protein makes this mix a bit lower in points that a typical recipe. Weight Watchers Chocolate Donut Cake Ingredients 1 cup Kodiak buttermilk or chocolate pancake mix 1/2 cup sugar free Pillsbury brownie mix 1 T cocoa, unsweetened 1/4 cup applesauce 1 T baking powder 1 cup cold water OPTIONAL frosting: 5 T cool whip free + 1 T sugar free chocolate pudding mix = 1 point Directions: Mix well. Pour into sprayed muffin or doughnut tin. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes. Freestyle Smart Points – 1 point per serving, 12 servings (frosting additional points) 5. Weight Watchers Soda Pop Cake Recipe This Weight Watchers soda cake was SUPER popular in the 1990s with members. We made all the varieties like angel food cake with Diet Sprite, Chocolate cake with Diet Coke, and so forth. (Note – Make sure you use DIET soda for the lighter calorie versions.) Another popular variation was 1 box angel food cake mix with 1 can light pie filling. These mixtures resulted in – what was at the time – 2 points for a hearty square of cake or a good sized cupcake. Weight Watchers members were in heaven! Sadly, this also resulted in Weight Watchers members not losing weight, so the WW powers-that-be made some changes to the program and how points are calculated. These delicious mixtures are more points these days with Freestyle, although still a lighter alternative compared to regular cake. Weight Watchers Soda Cake Ingredients 1 box of cake mix (ideally sugar free if you can find it) 1 can diet soda of choice Directions: Mix well and bake according to package instructions for a 9×13 cake or cupcakes. Freestyle Smart points – Regular Cake Mix: 8 points per serving if cut into 12 servings. 5 points per serving if cut into 18 servings Freestyle Smart Points – Sugar -Free Cake Mix: 4 points per serving if cut into 12 servings. 3 points per serving if cut into 18 servings. Weight Watchers Bananabonzo Bread – Proceed with Caution I first discovered this recipe for Bananabonzo (aka Banana Bread + Garbanzo beans) on Pinterest. I really, really wanted to like this recipe. But…I did not like it. At all. I tried this recipe 4 different times with various tweaks of the recipe each time. (As I said, I really wanted to like it.) I ended up throwing away every single loaf, and there is very little I can’t eat. I share the recipe here because it continues to be popular among WW members, so if one of you can explain how to make this tasty, I’m all ears. In the meantime, I recommend this Zero Point Banana Souffle instead, which is also zero points and I promise is quite yummy. Bananabonzo Bread Ingredients 2 cups garbanzo beans (Note: this is NOT the same as 1 can.) Drained and rinsed very well. 3 ripe bananas 4 eggs 1 T baking powder 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp cinnamon Directions: Process all ingredients in blender or food processor. Pour into sprayed loaf pan. Bake at 400 for 40 minutes. Freestyle Smart Points: Zero Points

Everything a Paralympic Gold Medalist Does (and Eats) in a Week to Stay Fit
Sweat Diaries
Paralympic athlete Michelle Konkoly shares her Sweat Diary.
A class at The Bar Method. Photograph courtesy Michelle Konkoly.
Welcome to Sweat Diaries, Be Well Philly’s look at the time, energy, and money people invest in pursuit of a healthy lifestyle in Philly. For each Sweat Diary, we ask one Philadelphian to spend a week tracking everything they eat, all the exercise they get, and the money they spend on both. Want to submit a Sweat Diary? Email [email protected] with details.
Who: Michelle Konkoly (@michellekonkoly), 26, from Midtown Village
What I do: Second year medical student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University
What role healthy living plays in my life: Healthy living means taking care of my body by buying, preparing, and eating nourishing foods; getting plenty of sleep; and keeping my body strong, flexible, and conditioned by doing a diverse array of exercises. In 2011, I suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury that left me with a spine and heel fusion, and permanent weakness in my legs.  Since my injury, I have learned never to take anything my body can do for granted — I had to start from scratch to learn to walk again, and lost 30 pounds of muscle during my recovery.  After re-learning how to walk, I got involved in the Paralympics and won two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in sprint freestyle swimming events at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics! I’m proud of my muscle because I know how far I had to come to get where I am today.  Now, I’m focusing primarily on school, but I still go to swim meets when I can.
Health memberships: I purchased the “New Client Special” at Bar Method Rittenhouse, which 30 days unlimited for $99. I also have a membership at the Jefferson Recreation & Fitness Center, which was included with tuition.

Michelle Konkoly trains in the Jefferson pool. Photograph courtesy Michelle Konkoly.
7:10 a.m. — Alarm goes off, and I wake up and am out the door within five minutes to head to the pool at Jefferson. Fortunately, it’s only a three-minute walk!
7:30 a.m. — Swim at the Jefferson pool.  It’s a 20-yard pool, which is shorter than most pools, but we make it work!  One of my classmates swims with me and we do a tough 4000 yard aerobic workout. I swim faster than when we did the set last week so I am pumped!
8:45 a.m. — Showered, I walk back home and take my corgi, Ollie, out for a walk.
9:40 a.m. — Walk back to Jefferson’s campus for class and stop at dry cleaners on the way.
10 a.m. — Small group class. I eat my breakfast of papaya, pineapple, Greek yogurt, and chia seeds with a homemade latte (two shots and soymilk).  Someone brought in Isgro’s cannolis so I have to eat half of a cannoli as well!
11 a.m. — Facilitate a group for the first year medical students, and have another cup of coffee. Swimming in the morning makes you a special kind of tired.
12 p.m. — Walk to the University Health Center to get the PPD shot I need for volunteering. While I’m waiting, I snack on two leftover paleo chocolate chip cookies I made over the weekend.
2 p.m. — I finally get home, and eat lunch of a kale salad with avocado, carrots, tomatoes, and homemade carrot ginger dressing, plus slice of whole grain bread and some chocolate-covered almonds.
3 p.m. — I head to the Jefferson Library to overview the material for the week. I have three clementines and half a bottle of kombucha I got from the new Sprouts Market last week.
5:45 p.m. — I get home and walk Ollie to Washington Square Park. I finish an almost-empty bag of Skinny Pop kettle corn before I head to barre.
6:45 p.m. — Barre class at Bar Method Rittenhouse.
8 p.m. — Barre doesn’t make me nearly as hungry as swimming, but I’m still excited for my dinner that I prepped yesterday: sushi bowls!  I top some sushi rice with calamari salad my roommate didn’t want, plus some broccoli, edamame, pickled ginger, and nori strips. I also have some almonds and dates.
9 p.m. — Ok, the hunger caught up with me.  I go a little overboard on after dinner snacks tonight and have a sundae of tahini squares with an Enlightened fudgesicle, half a banana and coconut whip, and a slice of chocolate pumpkin bread. I went on a baking spree over the weekend and now have all these goodies sitting around tempting me.
10:30 p.m. — Finish studying and head to bed.
Daily total: $0

Weight lifting to work on fast-twitch muscles. Photograph courtesy Michelle Konkoly.
8:14 a.m. — Woke up without an alarm. I try to give myself one day a week to sleep in. Once out of bed, I take Ollie for a walk and then eat half a banana and half a slice of chocolate pumpkin bread.
9:15 a.m. — At the Jefferson gym, and I do a one-hour lift, focusing on upper body explosiveness. I have a swim meet coming up in December, and since I swim sprint freestyle, power and fast-twitch muscle work is so important!
10:30 a.m. — Come home, shower, and make a latte to drink as I listen to this morning’s recorded lectures.
A smoothie bowl for lunch. Photograph courtesy Michelle Konkoly.
12:15 p.m. – Make a smoothie bowl for lunch! I’m obsessed with my Vitamix blender. I make a smoothie out of frozen bananas, peaches, and spinach, almond milk, and Orgain vegan peanut butter protein powder, topped with homemade granola, cacao nibs, chia seeds, coconut, and fruit.  I finish off lunch with some chocolate covered almonds and salted almonds.
1 p.m. — I spend most of the afternoon continuing to work though this morning’s lecture material on dermatology. I walk into to Walgreens as a study break and buy tweezers and a pack of gum ($5.20).
2:45 p.m. — Finish the Sprouts kombucha, along with some more tahini bars (they’re so good!) and some fresh pineapple.
5 p.m. — I get ready for a Jefferson Gala event tonight at the Philadelphia 201 Hotel.  I Uber over with some friends and the venue is gorgeous!
Cake for dessert. Photograph courtesy Michelle Konkoly.
6 p.m. — At the reception, I have three pieces sushi and a glass of Champagne. For dinner, we’re served bread and salad, and I request the vegetarian entrée of risotto, carrots, and broccoli rabe. I’m not strictly vegetarian, but try to eat less meat whenever possible! Dessert is a beautiful chocolate mousse cake with fresh berries.
9:30 p.m. — Uber back home and walk the dog. I’m craving something crunchy, so I grab a few handfuls of Special K out of the box before getting into bed.
11 p.m. — Bed!
Daily total: $5.20
Wednesday

7:10 a.m. — Alarm goes off and I’m off to the pool.
7:30 a.m. — Swim a 3200-yard workout by myself. Today I used parachutes that are tied to my waist to add extra resistance. It’s tough but really helps me increase my sprint speed and power. I shower at the pool and then come home to walk Ollie.
10 a.m. — Grab my backpack and head to class.  I eat my yogurt with fruit and chia seeds and a latte — I make this breakfast the night before so I can just grab it and go.
12 p.m. — Class ends and I come home. I’ll never get over how hungry swimming makes me in comparison to other workouts!  I grab a couple almonds and pieces of caramel corn before taking Ollie out.
12:45 p.m. — Lunch is a bowl of kale, sushi rice, tofu, carrots, broccoli, and pickled ginger, plus a bit of spicy mayo on top! I also have an apple from when I went apple picking with my mom and sister last week.
2 p.m. — I head to the library and have three clementines as a snack.
3 p.m. — Every Wednesday we have “Cookie Hour” with the applicants interviewing at Jefferson. Current students can come to mingle and of course grab a cookie! Today they have strawberries and mini cheesecakes too, so during my break from the library I head over and have one of each!
5 p.m. — Come back home and have a snack before walking Ollie: a small bowl of Special K with cashew milk and freeze-dried strawberries and almonds.
6:45 p.m. — Barre at The Bar Method. It’s been fun to have the flexibility to try new workouts, rather than having to focus 100% on swimming, like I was during the time leading up to Rio.
Homemade sushi for dinner. Photograph courtesy Michelle Konkoly.
8 p.m. — Finally time for dinner! I use my sushi bowl meal prep ingredients to make two homemade rolls and have a glass of wine with them.
9 p.m. — As I’m sending emails and studying, I make a bag of light natural popcorn and mix in a few pieces of caramel corn.
10 p.m. — We still have Halloween candy lying around, so I have a couple pieces (Reese’s are my favorite!) before walking Ollie and heading to bed.
Daily total: $0
Thursday
Enlightened ice cream from Sprouts. Photograph courtesy Michelle Konkoly.
7:10 a.m. — Alarm goes off and I snoozed it for eight minutes.  I almost never hit snooze, but I knew no one was joining me for my swim this morning, so I wouldn’t be holding anyone up if I was a few minutes late!
7:35 a.m. — Swim a 2,900-yard workout.  It’s certainly on the shorter end, yardage wise, but today I used a bungee tether that attaches me to the wall so I can swim continuously against the resistance for the length of my 50 free race (about 30 seconds).  It’s a great way to simulate an Olympic length (50m) pool in our 20 yard pool!  The tether is no joke — my arms are always burning by the end!
9 a.m. — Showered and walked home, then walked Ollie.
9:35 a.m. — Made my favorite smoothie bowl again.
10 a.m. — Head back to campus for class, and drink my latte.  One of my classmates brought in candy, so I have two mini Kit Kats.
12 p.m. — Come back home and have a piece of chocolate pumpkin bread with pumpkin butter while watching lectures.
12:30 p.m. — Eat half of a GIANT apple, plus a kati roll from Masala Kitchen — one of my friends had some extras after an event.
2:30 p.m. — Spend most of the afternoon studying at home, and eat the other half of the giant apple.
4:15 p.m. — Have a pre-dinner snack of bowl of Special K with half a banana, freeze dried strawberries, dates, golden raisins, and soy milk. I also have a cup of pineapple spirulina kombucha.
6:15 p.m. — I take Ollie on a long walk, then have dinner: a kale salad with the rest of my sushi rice, tofu, bit of edamame, and a quarter avocado, plus a bowl of defrosted frozen mangoes, strawberries, and pineapple with coconut flakes.
7 p.m. — I have another event for the first-year med students on campus, so I walk back over. For some reason there’s so much candy around this week!  I have two mini packs of gummy worms as I catch up with my friends at the event.
8:30 p.m. — Come back home and have a true dessert: chocolate! I love Enlightened ice cream, and found a new flavor — black cherry chocolate chip — at Sprouts last week. I eat the whole pint happily as I’m studying, along with a piece of chocolate and two more tahini squares.
10:30 p.m. — Bed!
Daily total: $0
Friday
Spaghetti squash pasta for dinner. Photograph courtesy Michelle Konkoly.
6:38 a.m. — Alarm goes off and I grab a squeezable applesauce packet to eat on my walk to barre.
7 a.m. — Barre. It’s great to get my workout out of the way so early on Friday. I always feel like my posture is so great after barre, too!
8 a.m. — I walk Ollie and make my smoothie bowl. Today I use up some frozen strawberries instead of peaches, and get in some last minute studying as I eat it.
9 a.m. — We have short quizzes every Friday — this week was all about various skin conditions.
10 a.m. — Head back home and have two and a half slices of chocolate pumpkin bread with pumpkin butter as I do some chores and cleaning in my apartment.
11:30 a.m. — I make a homemade iced latte, and have a ThinkThin protein bar and a mini Rice Krispie treat as I do laundry.  I’m heading out of town for a wedding this weekend so I’m trying to get ahead on my normal weekend chores!
12:15 p.m. — I walk Ollie to Washington Square Park and call my dad to catch up as we walk.
1 p.m. — I get a pedicure and gel manicure in preparation for the wedding ($42 with a coupon).
2:30 p.m. — When I get back home, I have a little bit of leftover tofu with a quarter avocado, kale, and edamame, plus the rest of the pineapple spirulina kombucha.  I also finish up the final crumbs of a container of homemade granola, mixed with cacao nibs and golden raisins.
4 p.m. — I spend the afternoon prepping my study schedule for our exam week next week, and have a tiny apple and half a container of Greek yogurt with cinnamon and chia seeds.
6:45 p.m. — I start making dinner, which is really meal prepping for next week! I have four little breadsticks and a bit of olive tapenade while I roast a spaghetti squash.  I make a chickpea/nutritional yeast “cheese sauce” for the squash, and mix it all together with some sun dried tomatoes and Kalamata olives.  I also roast up some leftover veggies from a veggie tray.
7:30 p.m. — I pour myself a glass of white wine as I eat my spaghetti squash creation. The sauce turned out so creamy!
8:30 p.m. — My roommate offers me some of the red wine she brought back from Italy, so of course I have to try it.
9:30 p.m. — I finish up packing for the wedding and have an Enlightened fudgesicle and three pieces of candy for dessert.
10 p.m. — Bed! I have an early train to DC tomorrow, so I’m calling it a night!

Which fruit tastes best covered in chocolate? Strawberries and bananas.
What’s the last thing you drank? Water.
What was in your last smoothie? Banana, almond milk, peanut butter, and chocolate syrup.
Do you prefer eating ice cream in a cup or cone? Cup. Cones get too messy and I take a long time to eat anything so a cup is better.
What color lipstick do you think looks best on you? I don’t even wear lipstick.
Are you romantically in love with someone right now? No.
What color would you like to dye your hair? I’ll be going back to red once my hair grows out more.
Do you prefer… the beginning or end of the year? Spring or Summer? Fall or Winter? End of the year, spring, and both.
What’s the last app you opened on your phone? An alarm app I like to use.
What color eyeshadow did you last wear? I don’t even bother with makeup anymore. The last time I wore any makeup, which wasn’t much at all, was back in June and that was the first time in like 4 years. When I did wear makeup regularly (hard to believe I used to hate leaving the house without it at one point), eye shadow wasn’t a staple of mine. I rarely ever wore it. ANYWAY, all that to say I don’t recall what color eyeshadow I wore last. lol.
Have you ever been stung by a bee, hornet, or wasp? No, thankfully.
When’s the last time you received flowers as a gift? A few months ago.
What’s something on your bucket list that’s just for you, something that’s with your best friend, and something that’s with a romantic partner? I don’t have a bucket list. Not all laid out anyway.
What’s the last type of cake you ate? White with buttercream frosting. What is a food you’d like to try? Hmm. I can’t think of anything new at the moment. I’m so picky and particular and just eat the same few foods all time, so I’m not the most adventurous eater. Or in general.
What time is it right now? 2:40AM.
Do you prefer… pastel colors or dusty colors? Forests or beaches? Strawberries or bananas? Pastel, beaches, bananas.
What’s the last thing you bought for yourself and for someone else? Food.
What’s the last gift you received? A mini fridge recently that I had been wanting for my room.
Is there anything that’s been on your wishlist for a long time that you still want? Still waiting for that beach house... ha.
What’s your favorite sandwich? Turkey, sometimes with salami as well, sandwich or a bologna sandwich with cheese (either Colby Jack, Monterrey Jack, or provolone), mustard, mayo, and spinach with olive oil on the side for dipping. A pickle on the side is nice, too.
What’s the last song you listened to? I don’t remember.
What colors look best on you? None.
What makes you feel the most guilty? There’s a few things I feel guilty about.
Do you bother with skincare products? No. :/ What’s currently on your desk? I don’t have a desk.
Do you prefer… popsicles or ice cream? Cupcakes or cake? Cheesecake or shortcake? Ice cream, cupcakes, cheesecake.
What was your dream wedding like as a kid compared to now? I’m not someone who has been dreaming of their wedding since they were a kid. Getting married was never a big thing to me or something I really thought about and it’s still not. I don’t plan on ever getting married to be honest.
What’s something you wish you were talented at? I wish I had a talent, period.
What’s the scent of the last perfume, body spray, lotion, body wash, and hand soap you used? Perfume: I don’t remember. I haven’t had a perfume in quite a long while. Body Spray: It’s a beachy smelling one.  Lotion: It’s one from Bath & Body Works called “Into the Night” and according to the description has notes of “dark berries, midnight jasmine, and rich amber.”  Body Wash: I use Caress bar soap and it smells like...clean? lol. Hand Soap: A beachy smelling one from Bath & Body Works.
When’s the last time you received a greeting card? My birthday last month.
Do you play video games? If yes, what are you playing now? Sometimes. It’s been awhile since I’ve played any, but last year I was obsessed with Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch.
What are you hungry or thirsty for right now? There’s donuts in the kitchen calling my name.
Who do you live with? My parents, brother, and doggo.
What color are the walls and carpet in your bedroom? White walls and tan carpet.
What’s your favorite candle scent? Autumnal scented ones.
Do you prefer… sunshine or moonlight? Gardening or baking? Flowers or succulents? Moonlight, baking, flowers.
Do you use emoji when you text or type online? Sometimes. I don’t go crazy with them, I just use ‘em as I see fit.
How many hours of sleep do you get a night? Maybe 4. It’s never enough.
Do you sleep with a stuffed animal? No, but I have a few that sit on my bed.
Do you like playing games by yourself or with other people? With others unless it’s something like The Sims or the murder mystery/hidden object games I sometimes play on my phone. Some games are just meant for one player.
How do you take your coffee? With flavored cream or cream and sugar.
What’s the last book you read? I’m currently reading, “Her Perfect Crime” by Elle Gray.
Do you think you drink enough water daily? Noo, definitely not.
What’s your favorite holiday? Christmas and Halloween.
What did you have for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks today? It’s only 4:42AM so I haven’t had any of those, yet.
Do you prefer… honey or jam? Roses or sunflowers? Oatmeal or cereal? Jam, roses, oatmeal.

Hey Scarlett! I have seen some of your smoothie bowls/acai bowls on instagram and I am so keen to try them. What do you usually put in them? Xx
Hello:~)
Oh wow I am obsessed with them haha my favourite part is literally decorating them! I’ll list a few for you:)
1. Mango + banana: frozen mango, banana, coconut water. (You can add a spoonful of greek yogurt to make it creamier)
2. Acai: Frozen acai pack, frozen berries, coconut water.
3. Pitaya: Frozen pitaya pack, banana, strawberries.
You can literally make any smoothie you want, put it in a bowl and decorate it with toppings!
Toppings I use: blueberries, strawberries, passionfruit, banana, raspberries, kiwi, coconut flakes, nuts (almonds, cashews, peanuts, brazil nuts), Veganola, oats, cacao nibs + dried goji berries, almond butter, honey, chia seeds, sunflower seeds and so on.
You can add anything; any fruit, any seeds, any nuts. I followed a heap of vegan + smoothie instagrams for inspiration. Such as -smoothies_of_ig-smoothiebowls-smoothie_planet-nicecreambowls-smoothiebowl-breakfast_inspo-smoothiebowlrecipes-acaibowlss-wandering_lil-fitness_bianca
So basically make any smoothie you want and decorate it with any fruit, nuts, seeds and healthy extras! These are relatively high in calories (good healthy calories though hehe). I’ve decided to have 1 a week on the weekends (went a bit crazy over the weekend because they’re so fun). But they’re also super filling which is awesome!
Hope this helped and hope you enjoy your yummy smoothie bowls eheh xxxx

Things We Loved in March
Did March even happen? I feel like we’re all sort of stuck in this weird limbo stage of WTF is going on and when is this whole virus thing going to end so we can all get back to our normal lives.
Here’s the thing: being stuck at home without the ability to see our friends, participate in social activities, have access to copious amounts of food, and limiting our spending of money on materialistic things has really opened my eyes to just how lucky we are, and how grateful I am for the basic necessities and my family.
However, that doesn’t mean the situation is ideal. In fact, it’s stressful as hell. There are a lot of unknowns and the impact all of this has on our mental health may be too quick to realize. We are all going through huge transitions in the way we operate and function in our everyday lives. It’s complicated, frustrating, sad and upsetting all at the same time, but I think the best we can do is take it day by day. And above all, appreciate what we DO have. Focusing on the positive things is essential, but always easier said than done.
Things I’m doing to stay grounded during quarantine
practicing self care through exercise and movement. I have started doing at home workouts and am loving the energy and ‘me’ time they provide. It’s also fun to do them with Tony because we can encourage each other.
getting outside. breathing in the fresh air. enjoy the sunshine whenever possible.
connecting with others. it’s funny but I swear I’ve had more conversations with friends and family over the past few weeks then I have in the past few months.
eat nourishing meals. I’m using this time as an opportunity to create more and am loving it. It’s actually nice to forget about all the supplements and diet culture trends we tend to lean into. Right now I’m digging frozen veggies, canned beans, dried lentils and all the nuts.
stress baking. every single week I’ve been baking something exciting and different for Tony and I. I can’t stop!
recognizing emotions. I’m trying to be hyper aware of how I’m feeling in a time of serious unknowns and swift transitions, because I don’t want to stuff away my emotions and trade them in for something like binge eating or not eating.
practicing gratitude. every day I write down 3 things I’m grateful for. can be small or big — it doesn’t matter.
I want to hear from you: how are you feeling and coping? Are you doing anything to keep yourself grounded during this time?
Recipes from March
Here are all the recipes published on Ambitious Kitchen this March that you might have missed. Did you make any of them?!
Damn Good Salmon Taco Bowls For Two: wow, these bowls were so delicious and great to make when you have no idea what to do with fresh or frozen salmon!

The Best Healthy Recipes Using Yogurt: if you need to make a recipe with yogurt, I’ve got you covered.
Sheet Pan Kickin’ Curry Honey Mustard Chicken & Veggies: a wonderfully easy weeknight meal. Tony has been obsessed with brussels sprouts lately and this is SO good. Sometimes we even leave out the curry powder.
Flourless Paleo Chocolate Almond Butter Cookies: I republished this recipe and you guys fell in love. Minimal ingredients, lots of chocolate flavor.
Blueberry Pie Bars with Oatmeal Crumble (vegan & gluten free): omg these bars are SO good and easily vegan and gluten free. Feel free to use jam if you don’t have blueberries available.
Snickerdoodle Tahini Date Smoothie: yes, this smoothie actually tastes like a snickerdoodle cookie!! It’s unreal.
Healthier Pasta Recipes for the Perfect Dinner: for when you need ideas for all that pasta you have in your pantry.
Easy Pantry Recipes for Every Meal: all my favorite pantry friendly meals!
Healthier Carrot Cake Banana Bread with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting: when carrot cake and banana bread had a baby.
Spinach & Goat Cheese Quiche with Sweet Potato Crust: the perfect make ahead breakfast to crush on.

Greek Salad Pinwheels: snack inspo!
Things we loved in March
Below you’ll find a few products I’ve been loving:
Tony and I started watching Westworld from the beginning. It’s not my favorite but whatever. We also binged Tiger King on Netflix, which was truly insane and SO good. Highly recommend. Other shows I go in an out of include The Morning Show, Killing Eve and Ozarks. I need your Netflix/Hulu/HBO/Prime show recommendations!
I’ve been using Majka Energy Bites & Lactation Powder to help boost my milk supply and recently made these yummy energy bites. Use the code ‘ambitious’ for 10% off your first order!
I have been loving this TULA 24/7 moisture cream. It’s incredibly soft, hydrating and lightweight enough to wear under makeup too. Seriously amazing! Use ‘AMBITIOUS’ for 15% off.
I’m beyond obsessed with this Hungry by Nature Paleo Granola! Started by a local chicago blogger, this granola is UNREAL and a great buy if you want to support a small local business. The chocolate cherry is my current fav.
Sidney has blow outs every once in a while and this Branch Basics Oxygen Boost has become our new BFF. I spray his clothes with Branch Basics all purpose cleaner that I make from their concentrate, then sprinkle the oxygen boost on top and spray again, then usually rub together to help get the stain out; let it sit for 1 hour on the stain and it’s gone in the next wash cycle! Use the code ‘AK10’ for 10% off your Branch Basics purchase.
Just because your breastfeeding doesn’t mean you have to give up alcohol. I got these Milkscreen for Breastfeeding test strips to test my breast milk so I don’t have to pump and dump if it isn’t necessary.
Sidney has been loving his Lovevery Play Gym that we got him. He sits and stares at the contrast cards and laughs — so cute.
Recently got this gorgeous lululemon Find Your Unwind Pullover and can’t stop wearing it.
I just got these Women’s UA HOVR Phantom RN Running Shoes for running and walking outside and so far I really love them.
Umm these Dang Foods Chips are AMAZING!
I recently started using this Honeymoon Glow by Farmacy and my skin feels SO freaking soft. I can’t believe how amazing it is. I use it every other night and honestly am SO obsessed.
We’ve been craving so much pasta lately and this 30 minute Healthier Pasta Carbonara has been one of our favs!
Have you heard of Three Wishes grain free Cereal?  They recently sent me their Original, Cinnamon & Honey flavors and I can’t get enough!
If you happen to have a jar of almond butter, then you need to make my Almond Butter & Raspberry Jam Cups (this month’s exclusive IG recipe!)
I personally LOVE reading Llama Llama Red Pajama to Sidney.
Okay, that’s all I’ve got for you. Hope you’re keeping your head up! I’ll be back with more delicious recipes soon. xo.

Loss of Smell Adds Insult to Injury for Those in Quarantine added to Google Docs
Loss of Smell Adds Insult to Injury for Those in Quarantine
 Jimmy Vong/Shutterstock

Jimmy Vong/Shutterstock An innocuous but annoying new COVID-19 symptom emerges Drew Kerr realized it when he was eating sriracha on top of breakfast leftovers from Flushing’s Chinatown. “It’s so sad.” One of the few pleasures of self quarantine is eating and drinking, cooking and baking — and plotting out what to eat, drink, cook, and bake. “People are suggesting that I bake as an abstract intellectual exercise, and no I’m not doing that.” Humes stocked up her kitchen with all the foods she thought she would want during quarantine and a potential sickness, including hundred-year eggs and pork jowls for congee, and now she only wants to eat food that’s salty. I ate a lot of ice cream with hot fudge when I lost my sense of smell.” Birnbaum suggests playing with the color and the symmetry of food, and testing which foods trigger which sense receptors on the tongue.

MORE JAW DRAMA…LIKE IT’S ALWAYS SOMETHING
MICHAEL SAID IF HE HEARS THE WORD JAW ONE MORE TIME WE MAY DIVORCE.
Lol.
But seriously, I am sick of it too. Such a drag.
So basically as you guys know, I had double jaw surgery about 4-ish years ago. Well, recently I realized that my lymphatic system in my face wasn’t draining properly- this was causing me to swell up like a balloon any time I stepped on a plane, traveled to higher altitude, &/or drank too much alcohol. Even salt! Like forget it- one too many grams of salt & I was immediately Fat Bastard.
I was over it. Personally, I became convinced that the reason I was swelling so much was because of the screws & plates in my face. I mean it can’t be GOOD for you to have metal in your face blocking your flow. My acupuncturist told me this too- he said the screws/plates from double jaw surgery were JUST BAD. Especially because it goes against everything Chinese medicine says.
So I said to myself “fuck it- I want this shit out!”
MY JAW SITUATION
If you can’t tell, when I get my head stuck on something, I get my head stuck on something. I couldn’t let it go.
So I found a jaw surgeon in LA ( as you know we recently moved from San Diego to Los Angeles ) & immediately booked an appointment. It all went well. We didn’t remove every single screw but the majority of them. Immediately after surgery I SWELLED RIGHT THE FUCK UP. Which is to be expected- it happens after an invasive surgery. But now, 3 weeks later, I am feeling better…& I should add: more contoured & less swollen than before the surgery. WHICH WE LOVE.
You could definitely say it was a success…& I am convinced my theory was right.
Anyway, so that’s my jaw drama. & while we are at it- let’s talk tips to fight inflammation because boy I am the fucking queen of that. AHEM:
♡ Watermelon juice!!!
Watermelon juice was my main request because it’s non-acidic. I like to add a TON of lime too. Lime is acidic but turns alkaline in the body. So watermelon x lime is just fucking gold. I’ve been chugging it like a sorority sister chugs Jungle Juice at a frat mixer. Watermelon juice is just perfect in every way. Go for the juicy red flesh at the center of a watermelon because it’s the only nutrient-rich area, forget the white part. The white part sucks, kinda. Some other benefits: watermelon is great for blood flow, it’s anti-inflammatory ( perfect for surgery ), & has TONS of vitamins and minerals. ALSO IT’S A DIURETIC. Cleans you out. Bottoms up!
♡ Next up, Mr. raw coconut juice.
I like this baby for its electrolytes. Raw coconut water is filled with electrolytes which REALLY boosts hydration. Hydration is key in sickness recovery. I always search for the pink coconut waters because supposedly they contain more antioxidants. This one is my favorite brand by far! Love it when it’s a baby pink mixture ( this happens only sometimes depending on the coconuts they get ).
♡ Heyyyy Kefir!
Since I had to take some more antibiotics for this surgery, I needed something with probiotics to coat my stomach. This kefir smoothie makes all the difference. Kefir is a whole different blog post but basically it’s “a sour-tasting drink made from cow’s milk fermented with certain bacteria. Also, a great source of probiotic bacteria and yeast, and requires daily maintenance, if using milk kefir grains. It is generally more sour in flavor and of a pourable consistency. Milk kefir may also be used in many, many recipes.” When I take antibiotics I ALWAYS balance it out with a probiotic. This is why kefir is amaze; it balances the antibiotic out by promoting good bacteria. This smoothie is simple. Nothing crazy because I definitely don’t want to shock my system.
♡♡♡ TSC Kefir Probiotic Smoothie
1 banana 1 cup kefir Handful of kale 1 splash almond milk Handful of ice Top with cinnamon ( << an anti-inflammatory )
Directions: blend. Garnish with cinnamon & cheers!
♡ Now let’s talk about liquid gold!
A full blown Vitamin C juice!! My favorite…orange/carrot/ginger/turmeric. SO healing for the system when you’re in recovery ( or on any day ). The orange relieves constipation, is full of potassium, & again, turns alkaline in the system ( so it’s essentially NON acidic ). The crunchy powerfood carrot does wonders: they’re full of fiber & literally flush nasty-ass toxins from the body. SO cleansing. Ginger, one of my favorites, is a real life saver because it takes away nausea. And typically surgery brings on nausea, yuck. Ginger also reduces gas, has a warming effect, & stimulates circulation. Lastly turmeric root!!! My home girl. Turmeric ( like real turmeric. Ever seen it at the grocery store? It looks like a sick bug. You can actually buy it online too ) is the shit in juices. Turmeric root is INSANE for inflammation. I’ve been shooting it in shot glasses #rebel.
♡ ICE ROLL THE FUCK OUTTA YOUR FACE.
Here’s the deal. I’ve been doing ice facials since Sonja Morgan from RHONY recommended them after a brutal hangover circa 2014-ish when noble Countess Luann was yelling at Heather Yummie Tummie about being ‘uncool.’ It really wasn’t until my brutal jaw surgery that I discovered the IT beauty tip of 2016 ( AKA MY LIFE LINE ). IT FIGHTS INFLAMMATION- I DO IT EVERY MORNING. TRUST ME.
Let me set the scene, years ago: I was actively perusing Amazon ( SHOCKING, this is something I do on the regular ) & was searching ‘jaw surgery book.’ Weirdly, an ice roller popped up.
So I was like, “umm, yes. This will make life easier PLUS give me a little lymphatic drainage while I’m rolling downward on my swollen jaw.”
Added to cart……..& then shit, the rest is history.
Not only did I fall absolutely HEAD OVER HEELS in love with my ice roller ( I use the white roller with a blue handle ), I also entered into a committed relationship with my ice roller. Like I said: I use it every ( EVERY ) day, once sometimes twice a day for as long as it’s cold ( usually 2 to 3 minutes per time ). In fact, I’m grumpy if I don’t get to use it first thing in the AM! Bye swelling.
♡ Lastly: TEA.
This one isn’t really too healthy but it’s keeping me refreshed. I get a large Starbucks iced green tea with two splashes of passion fruit & no sweetener. Obviously this isn’t like organic, homegrown, gold star tea BUT it’s cold on my throat & feels good plus it forces me to drink more water. And well, I just like it. Also, I’ve definitely been sneaking some mint chocolate chip ice cream because ‘help me, I’m sick.’ If you’re so healthy, lucky you, drink organic Numi green tea & skip the iced Starbucks.
♡ Oh, & another one not pictured:
I HAVE BEEN CHUGGING OWL VENICE BONE BROTH IN DISGUSTING AMOUNTS. I’ve been told it’s the best thing you can put in your system BEFORE & AFTER surgery. I add lemon & seriously GULP, GULP, GULP. A post on the broth can be found here.
ALSO: using Valor oil, taking massive amounts of arnica & turmeric ( I AM OBSESSED WITH TRUVANI’S TURMERIC TABLETS because they’re real deal turmeric with black pepper- I take them all the time ), using TONS OF ICE for ice facials ( which has helped me the most, especially this specific ice roller ), dry brushing, detoxing, juicing, applying real aloe vera/raw coconut oil, & also I’m really trying to avoid salt. ANY OTHER TIPS? Please share.
Before we go I also want to discuss pros of having double surgery in the first place because it seems like it’s been an on-going thing. Also this is important because I receive a lot of DM’s on questions about the initial surgery:
SO PROS OF MY JAW SURGERY:
+ I feel balanced now. I felt out of whack/alignment for my whole life. Towards the end I started to get used to being uncomfortable. Now I feel at peace. This is me now ( still have a long way to go, but this is without photo editing & no makeup- you can’t edit on Snapchat ). Swollen still, but coming down.
+ I haven’t been grinding my teeth AT ALL. This is huge for me because I’ve been grinding my teeth every night of my life to the point where Michael couldn’t sleep.
+ I haven’t snored once. This is another big one because I sounded like a freaking wildebeest when I was sleeping. Now I sleep like a baby without waking up in the middle of night…& Michael can sleep peacefully. This is AMAZING.
+ My bite fits together. Before I could only chew on one side of my mouth & my bite never fit together. Now my teeth fit together like a perfect puzzle piece & my mid-line is on point.
+ No more headaches, cracking my neck, or anxiety around my neck. I would also try to fix my bite myself by holding my jaw in the proper place. Because the issue was skeletal, it put major anxiety in my shoulders & neck. This feeling is gone, gone, gone.
+ Michael has literally seen me at my lowest point looks-wise, so I’m thinking he’s a keeper….LOL.
+ Lastly, my cheekbones look a little higher. A vain plus, but hey it’s a plus.
So that’s that. Thought I would share the process with you guys because you know I like to get specific.
I am off to eat a sourdough peanut butter & jelly sandwich because I got food poisoning last night. The culprit was either bad shrimp or bad cauliflower rice- you decide. If anyone has any food poisoning tips, I am all ears because man, do I feel queasy. Like I said- it’s always something! LOL.
HOPE YOU’RE ALL HAVING A PRODUCTIVE WEEK. See you tomorrow, lauryn x
