Daredevil scenes / plot points you would have done differently? (I get a suspicion a lot of them have to do with the law stuff, Frank Castle's trial especially. 😉 )
Aaaaa I love this question! Warning: VERY long response:
DEFINITELY the Frank Castle trial. Man, it could’ve been SO GOOD. I have a lot of issues with it, obviously, but the main one is that Matt treating Frank as a hostile witness could’ve been amazing (character-driven, emotionally-charged, also at times hilarious), and we were ROBBED.
 I also wish Matt could’ve been involved in more trial prep. The show makes it seem almost like Matt’s skill is limited to courtroom antics, but charisma and the ability to think on your feet in the courtroom mean next to nothing if you haven’t laid a foundation with good legal research and legal writing. I would’ve loved it if the legal plotlines showed us more of that. Like, you know Matt and Karen’s date night in S2 where she helps him come up with witness questions? I would’ve loved it if: a) they’d gotten, like, ANY part of that scene correct from a legal standpoint, and b) if we could’ve gotten MORE. I know that kind of thing might seem boring, but I don’t think it would be. You can really show off characters’ personalities in that kind of environment, and then the audience gets the reward of seeing that hard work pay off at trial.
 Speaking of, I know we’ve talked before about S3 splitting everyone up. I still think that could’ve maybe been worth it if we’d gotten a S4 where we could see how everyone learned from how disastrous the S3 isolation was, but without S4, everyone’s isolation in S3 is really unfortunate. I would’ve loved to see Nelson, Murdock, and Page working together for at least half of the season, instead of just the last 3-ish episodes. It would’ve been fascinating to watch, since Matt would still not be in a great headspace, and Karen would still be hurt, and Foggy would be just Trying To Deal with his idiot best friends. (But since we don’t have that, at least we have my S3 canon-divergent retelling thing: Take A Deep Breath – shameless plug.)
 I also would’ve generally kept the stakes lower in S2 and S3. I think you agree with me that both seasons would’ve been more powerful if we’d had more lower-level villains. But one of my favorite things about S1 is that we get to know the people who are at stake. Unlike in the Avengers where it’s just “the world” or “New York” or something, S1 showed us a little boy who wanted to go back to his dad, and Elena, and that one juror who was being exploited, and Melvin, and even a bad guy like Vladimir, and they’re ALL sympathetic. We really understand who Matt’s fighting for, but with the exception of Grotto, Jasper Evans, and Julie Barnes, I don’t feel like we really get that in S2 and S3.
 Related: our S2 ninjas needed a clearer motivation. (That goes for Defenders, too.) Imo, they needed personal stakes. Fisk’s mission to clean up Hell’s Kitchen was personal. Frank’s mission to take out bad guys was personal. Everything about Elektra was personal. Dex’s desperate attempt to find a place for himself and find people who care about him was VERY personal. But the Hand? Not personal at all.
 With Elektra…I’m torn. Part of me really wishes Matt could’ve told her no and maintained his boundaries all along, because a) I hate love-triangle-type drama and drama that could be resolved if people just stopped keeping secrets, and b) it would’ve been so refreshing to see the femme fatal trope subverted, and c) it would’ve given Elektra more agency. That being said…that might be veering too far away from comics canon. Matt is canonically a disaster with relationships, and he and Elektra have this whole…epic…magnetic…thing. I personally would argue that the show isn’t beholden to the canon in this specific way, but I can see how people would be upset if Matt and Elektra hadn’t turned out the way they did in S2.
 I would’ve liked Marci to have a smidge more character development. She was so sweet and supportive in S3and I don’t…quite…know where that came from? Oh, well.
 Speaking of character development: I wish Matt and Foggy could’ve had some real conversations. Aside from when Foggy found Matt at the gym in S1 and they talked about moving forward, I don’t feel like they had deep conversations that weren’t arguments. Matt’s S3 apology is good, but I would’ve loved to see Foggy apologize for how he contributed to the problems in their friendship. I also wish we could’ve seen Foggy explicitly thank Matt for, y’know…SAVING HIS LIFE.
 As for Karen, I wish her revelation scene to Matt had been more about HER. It says a lot about how selfless she is that she used her own pain to try to convince Matt not to kill Fisk. But even though I know Matt’s super depressed and everything, I would’ve loved to see him put his own angsty issues aside for a sec and just be there for his friend and the woman he loves. Even the fact that she is the one who crosses the room to be close to him is telling; he should’ve gone over to her when she started crying and been there for her.
 Although if I’m talking about Matt’s romantic relationships, I wouldn’t have minded if the show went a Clairedevil route. Although that would require A LOT. I do wish, if I’m being really fanciful, that we could’ve seen Claire in S3. Or, at minimum, seen Matt and Claire interact in Defenders.
 FATHER LANTOM TELLING MATT THAT GUILT IS A SIGN THAT HIS WORK IS NOT DONE. I cannot with that scene. I love Father Lantom, but that? Really? I mean, I get it. That’s a common way that Catholic doctrine is interpreted, and it’s what Matt basically wants to hear anyway, but it is SUCH a dangerous thing to tell Matt (and I feel like Father Lantom should’ve known that???) and it’s also, as I understand it, not even the technically correct Catholic interpretation of guilt. Like, that’s literally not what guilt is or how it’s supposed to work. (Although who knows. I’m not Catholic, and as I understand it, Catholics themselves vary a lot in their interpretations of doctrine. So idk.) If I were writing that scene, I would definitely not have written Father Lantom to say that.
 On the religious theme, I wish S3 had circled back to Matt’s original objections related to the book of Job. He gets quite a few things wrong in his recap, and I’m not sure if Maggie didn’t correct him because she didn’t know better, or because she didn’t think a Biblical literacy lecture was what he needed at the moment, OR because the writers couldn’t be bothered to read the book. (In fairness…it’s a long and complicated book. But they couldn’t have been bothered to read a commentary on it?) I wish S3 had not stopped at giving Matt an abstract tapestry analogy to heal his faith when it also should’ve addressed his specific complaints.
I wish we’d had more time to see Matt and Maggie repair their relationship, or start to. And I wish she’d hugged him at Literally Any Point.
I wish the whole Matt-hallucinating thing had been clearer. Was he actually hallucinating? Or was that just his internal monologue manifested through other characters? If he was hallucinating, did he just...stop? Is he not freaked out about that? What was going on????
Oh, and if only they could’ve gotten Dex’s psychological diagnosis right.
 Other than that, there are a couple scenes that I feel like drag on way too long (S3 especially has an odd amount of monologues that generally strike me as OOC anyway—except with Fisk; he’s just Like That) but I don’t want to go into all of them. It would be hypocritical, given how long this reply is. :P
 So yeah, I think I’ll stop there, although I’m sure there’s more, haha. Thank you again for the ask and the excuse to ramble about Daredevil! I look forward to your thoughts as well.

It will never cease to amaze me the amount of hoops that people who claim to love Steve jump through to justify their utter contempt for anyone who is in any way unhappy with that bullshit ending. And also the sheer number of hoops they demand we jump through to justify not liking Steve's ending.
I mean, let's be real here; a lot of us have been very critical of the MCU from CIVIL WAR and on, because they took what was supposed to be the last Captain America movie and turned it into, at best, another Avengers film, and at worse, another Iron Man tribute. If we've done nothing else in the subsequent years, we've criticized Feige and the Russos and Markus and Mcfeely and their choices for these movies, especially because those last four had almost sole control over Phase 3 of the MCU and which direction it took. But suddenly I'm just supposed to put all that on hold because a character I liked got an OOC happy ending from those same people? Since CW, there have been countless metas on who Steve is as an Avenger, as a soldier, as a friend and as a man, and suddenly we're just supposed to discount all of that, all of his character growth, because he got the laziest written happy ending in the MCU? All just to get Evans out of the MCU so they could "move on" with the next batch of superheroes?
I don't think so!
And the thing is, you can't just say "I didn't like Steve's ending" without a group of people descending on you and demanding to know Why. "Why are you so disappointed in his ending?" "Were you ever a fan of Steve to begin with?" You point out your reasons why, but if there's even a hint of another character in that reason, you're decried as a fake fan and so on and so forth. Why isn't "I didn't like Steve's ending" a valid enough excuse as that? Why do I have to explain in minute detail why I thought it was bad only to be told that my argument is invalid because it doesn't meet a set of criteria that I don't know about? Its extremely counterproductive and a real disservice to the fandom that built up around Steve since THE WINTER SOLDIER. We've spent countless hours discussing Steve's relationships with those around him, particularly his friends and teammates and how they help define who he is as a person, but now they're not valid because it just says that "you only like Steve because of X character."
I've said this before and I honestly shouldn't have to say it again, but a large part of the blame goes to the Russos and M&M for their numerous interviews post CW where they downplay the importance of Peggy in Steve's life and continously hyped up Sharon and Steve's other relationships in the present over his "what might have been" with Peggy. These four men have had sole control of Steve's character from TWS and onward (with the sole exception of AoU) and they backtrack on everything they've said at the last minute and try to act like that was their plan all along. It's bullshit! Its insulting to fans of not just Steve, but every other character that he had any kind of meaningful connection with.
Peggy in particular.
I've seen so many hot takes defending that ending against any kind of criticism specifically by using Peggy (and yes, the irony of that isn't lost on me). Die hard defenders of Endgame love to point out that there is no canon proof that Peggy married Sousa, but I always feel the need to counter with the fact that there is no canon proof that she didn't. And that's the biggest thing with the St*ggy relationship at the end of the day, it was never flushed out or explained, at least not at the same level as his friendships with Bucky, Sam and Nat. These people cry out that just because THE FIRST AVENGER didn't show Steve and Peggy interacting over the course of the war doesn't mean they didn't. "Just because you want it to be true doesn't make it canon", which works both ways, but no one wants to hear that.
I made a joke once about these diehard Endgame Steve supporters being the new T*ny stans, but the more I look at it, the more I think that's the case. This blind adherence to making sure that Steve's ending is unblemished is remarkably similar to T*ny stans throwing a fit anytime anyone points out the various horrible things he's done.
At the end of the day, I find myself asking whether or not I ever actually liked Steve or if I just liked the version of him built up by the fandom post TWS. Was it just Evans acting that made me like a character that I never really liked in the comics? I wanna say no, because out of the Big Three, he was pretty consistent, with a few obvious exceptions, the biggest being CW and Steve just sitting there and letting himself get berated by Ross, of all people. I mean, Steve fighting Bucky even though it caused him great pain, consistent. Steve refusing to kill Bucky, consistent. Steve willing to burn down everything he believed in the moment he found out it was wrong, consistent. Steve sticking up for Wanda, and then Bucky, consistent. Steve willingly becoming a fugitive just to rescue his friends from an illegal prison, consistent. Steve willing to risk everything on a throw of the dice in the hopes that they can fix what Thanos did, consistent. Everything about Steve up until he went to take the stones back was consistent with who he was as a character, with how he was written. That whole "Man Out of Time" schtick felt more like something Whedon wrote then what the Russos had given us over their movies.
Bottom Line: I hated Steve's ending and that isn't going to change.

I’m reading HITHYD and I saw what u said about Steve choosing Peggy being in character to you. As much as I love ur fics, I politely disagree. Only bc I know that based on the other movies, Steve’s main motivation has always been Bucky. And then he found a new family (Sam, Nat, Tony, and what was supposed to be Sharon). And also based JR said about Steggy being one kiss in a moving car (brutal), all of this led me to believe that Steve would’ve rathered stayed. EG!Steve seemed very OOC to me :(
(2)  Not trying to start a fight or anything, bc ur allowed to have ur own opinion. I just personally don’t like the idea of Steve leaving his friends and family to go back to the past for one person, albeit a great person, but nonetheless EG!Steve really did confuse and upset me. (Also the logistics of it all was just WHEW). I never saw him as a person to willingly leave the ppl he loves for someone that had a life of their own already. That’s just me tho ! Just wanted to talk to u about it
I don’t remember what I wrote when I started that story but here is my opinion on Endgame Steve. First, let me say that Endgame has a lot of problems storywise. There are things that would have been better done another way but...well, it is what it is.
I like that he got a happy ending with the woman he loved. I think that with the choice so clearly set before him--just having the option available--of course he was going to take it. He had never been able to forget Peggy. She was a central part of his story in every movie (as was Bucky, totally not saying he wasn’t). Before Bucky showed up in WS, Steve was just kind of floating around, trying to live his new life in modern times. Then Bucky shows up and he latches onto that part of his past.
Bucky becomes his anchor in a sense. Yeah, Buck’s got other things to deal with and Steve has obligations that he won’t walk away from so he does create a new family with Nat and Sam and for a while I think he is pretty “satisfied” with his new life.
There are a lot of problems with this new life in my opinion, a big one for me was that half assed relationship with Sharon (which gets kinda icky when you think about Endgame which I will get to in a bit). He hadn’t, to date by the time that Endgame rolled around, had a significant relationship. That part of his life was just void (and it should be noted that I am not a Stucky shipper. I get what people are saying when they state this as evidence but it isn’t canon as much as some wish it was--I honestly wouldn’t have even minded it being canon but it isn’t).
Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is, he loses Bucky, his anchor to modern day in IW, and while he has some of his teammates, clearly they’re not really connecting.Tony’s living his own life. Nat has taken up the helm at the compound. Everyone’s kinda scattered doing their thing so, I think other than the occasional visit which is what we saw him doing with Nat in EG, he’s kinda been alone.
And this is all just speculation. This is how I rationalize EG because while I loved it, I can definitely admit that it was problematic.
Anywho, they do the time heist and suddenly Steve sees this possibility that never existed before. He’d thought he’d lost Peggy and any form of a life that he might have lived with her. It’s his biggest regret. The first thing he thinks about when he wakes up after being pulled from the ice is Peggy. Now that everyone is safe. With Tony gone. With Nat gone. With the Earth in good hands, I think he finally felt like he could finally--as was discussed earlier in the movie--get a life.
Now, as far as Peggy already having had a life...this gets a little technical? It took me a while to understand what Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely meant when they said that the kids we see in WS are actually and have always been Steve’s kids. Meaning that rather than time being linear, it’s more like a big loop. Everything happening all at once.
There was always two Steve’s in the modern timeline. One in the ice. The other living his life in secret with Peggy. I’m not saying that this isn’t problematic, just that this is what the writers relayed. So the man that Peggy marries from the very beginning is the Steve that goes back in time in Endgame. Because he always goes back in time and they always get together and have kids. Old man Steve is at her funeral, hiding around because young Steve is obviously there too. And this is where the icky parts about Sharon come into play because if this is what the writers use to explain the timelines...then Sharon made out with her great uncle? lol oh, man...
Anyway, this got too long. I totally understand where you’re coming from but as much as I disagree with the way that the story went (because I would not have sent him back in time either tbh), I can understand the choice with the character set up as he was.
All of this is just my understanding, speculation, and satisfaction with Steve’s happy ending. I think if Chris Evans hadn’t been done with the character they might have done more with him. Taken it in a different direction but he was done and they had to do something more permanent than just having him retire I guess.
Either way, I’m glad you’re reading my stories. I hope you’re liking HitHYD despite our difference of opinion. xoxo

hi there, just saw in the tags that you didn‘t like endgame. would you like to expand on that? i am curious to know other people‘s perspective. personally, i liked it. it has flaws, yes, but to me it was enjoyable. if you don‘t feel like answering, that is fine :) have a great day!
oh wow. you really wanna know? okay, but on your own head be it. :o
i’m just joking, i’ll go easy, or at least give you the digest (a vicious lie) version. if you want to see the full extent of my derision and vitriol, you can go to @lowkeysebastianstan, which is the blog where i’ve tried to limit this too. but to give you the not at all short and not so sweet of it, here goes. (endgame spoilers obviously).
the first thing that really set me off was the ending, more precisely, what steve did. it made absolutely no sense whatsoever, and hit me closer to home than most of my followers here since bucky and steve are my fave characters, and the only ship i really have. now, i never thought stucky would become canon, not even a little, i didn’t even hope for it. sure, the representation would’ve been awesome, but there’s no way marvel could’ve done it justice, so it was just as well it was never gonna happen. what i hadn’t prepared for was to what extreme extent they were terrified of the ship and the effect it would have if they were to let it be even a hint that could be interpreted as some emotional connection between them, for 3 films they’re built bucky up as the most important character in steve’s life, he’s risked his own life to save him, he basically eradicated hydra during wwii fueled by grief for him, he was prepared to die for him in tws, he fought his friends and gave up everything for him in cacw, and then he just? leaves? to be with a woman who died of old age and natural causes after a long fulfilling life with another man and family of her own. who specifically told him to fucking move on in tws? yeah, sure. and do not get me wrong, i adore sam wilson, after bucky, and the real steve rogers, he is by far my fave in the cap verse (saving a few spots for my bp and cm peeps in the mcu, but we’ll get to them), and he is the superior choice to pick up the mantle, no doubt about it. (okay, a little doubt, they teased sebastian with that shield for 8 years, they based bucky on the brubaker storyline where he becomes cap, and so i do feel a little torn bc no matter how happy he must be for his friend, and him and mackie are good friends, he must be a little disappointed? but who knows, maybe they’ll do something with that in the series, which would be stupid af bc that would negate the positive leap in representation, and mackie deserves it too, so who the fuck knows, i’ll probably not be around to keep track anyways, and can you tell im rambling), but for steve’s last words to be to sam? while bucky stands and watch in the background? like??? i could go on in (more excruciating) detail, but that was why i linked the blog, there might be a point or two about this on there.
but that was just the start. all through the movie i felt disconnected and uneasy, they made some really weird choices, but i don’t think it was until nat took the plunge that i knew i had an absolute dud on my hands. 
the mcu has done a lot of things right, but their treatment of women is NOT one of them. and oh boy did they go out with a bang. first is the obvious implication, he got to live bc he had “more to live for”, and she didn’t have a family, and ye gods we know she can’t have kids, so why should she live? 
(see, if the bw movie wasn’t in the books, i’d completely get it, if it was to give scarjo her life back, and she wanted nat to be good and dead, sure. actually, when i first watched it, that’s what i thought tbh, that the bw movie was cancelled, so. but it’s not, so she will return. and since that the case it’s just fucked up that they yeeted her off the roster. and sure, some of the bw movie was always gonna be set in the past, but tbh? i don’t see much point in prequels for dead characters, you know that whatever happens won’t affect the outcome for the character at all, and i usually find them completely void of meaning. that might just be me though). and of course the fact that she died the same way gamora went didn’t help. (gamora’s death was maybe the single worst thing in aiw, she was fridged, not for the advancement of one man, but for two (thanos and quill) and it.just.shouldn’t.have.worked.thanos.cannot.love! again, mcu and women? not a good match.) 
then of course, it comes back to steve and how much he doesn’t give a crap about the people close to him in the present, we never see him care or grieve for anyone but peggy, and he could barely spare two tears for nat before it was all business again. and the rest of the team? i think clint cared a little, and banner threw a chair, but that was it. no memorial, not burial, no nothing, it was like she never existed, and she died saving the world just as much as tony, he couldn’t have done jack shit without the soul stone. 
and speaking of women, shuri and okoye? before the trailer dropped i was sure shuri was in this, that we’d get to see her lead in her brother’s stead. i actually did a short lament on this already, here.
carol was terribly underused, after all the oompf about her being there she was barely a blip. but the haircut was fantastic, and the best part of the movie was when she returned at the end.
then there’s nebula and gamora (again). at first i was actually quite pleased that they sort of found a loophole to bring gamora back, but then i thought about it (yes, sometimes i get seduced by the flashy colours too) and yeah. sure. a gamora is there, but she’s void of all the things that makes her interesting and all her development is just gone, everything “our” gamora achieved and experienced is gone, three films worth of arc is worthless. so what then is the point of getting “her” back? i don’t care about this person, i don’t know her. are we gonna see quill just harass her the next film, bc you know, she’s been with him, so why shouldn’t he expect her to just do that now? tbh i wouldn’t be surprised, but now that gunn is back maybe he can save it? not that i’ll be around to keep track though.
then nebula. nvm that time paradox, that’s a whole other fuckfest i’ll get back to, but we had to get to see her get killed too, didn’t we. by her sister, the only person in the world she loves. fucking fantastic, i cannot control my enthusiasm. 
and no, cool as it was, the a-force surrounding parker is not enough to bring this home. it was a cool sight though. (see? i can see the good.)
then of course it’s peggy. a woman he knew for a few months back during the war. (sure they knew each other longer, but i’d say, even if you’re very generous, they can’t have spent more than a couple of months in each other’s company, and they kissed once). who they stripped of all character development and autonomy so that steve could go back and get his “damce”. everything she achieved, every good thing that happened to her, her husband, her family, her advancement in shield, all gone. bc steve must have his happy ending, no matter that she told him to move the fuck on in tws, who cares. 
and then there’s sharon. yeah, they forgot about her, didn’t they. i mean, i was never really on board with that, the whole aunt/niece thing was a bit too weird for me, and this was way before i shipped stucky, but that doesn’t matter. bc they did that, they had them kiss within days after peggy’s death (oooh, look how he cared for peggy), making it clear that this was the beginning of something. (also marvel and several of the actors treated emily like crap, oh yeah, i remember, doesn’t help either.) 
(gods i said this would be short, didn’t i? imagine if i could’ve spent all the words i’ve spent ranting about endgame on my latest chapter? good grief.)
then there’s their so called lgbt representation. 30 seconds of a character that had a total of 60 sconds of screentime in tws lamenting his dead lover? well. i. they wanted credit for that. i just.
then there’s thor. they negated every ounce of development he had in ragnarok, this also goes for aiw, wasn’t happy about that, and made him completely ooc, he just spends his time drinking ab\nd playing fortnite of all things? bold of them to assume that will still be a thing in 5 years, but also? thor? THOR? neglecting his people? his friends? the world? thor? then they of course made him fat, haha, so they could add fat-shaming to the list while they make light and fun of his drinking problems, his grief and his ptsd. awesome. the funniest. 
then there’s clint. that they just randomly made a killer? just, like a straight up murderer? okay then. and still nat deserved to die. excellent.
then there’s banner. okay, i don’t think they fucked him up as bad as the others, but it’s still strange he would risk his intelligence to become hulk full time, but you do you.  
rocket and rhodey were the best things about this damn disaster, just putting it out there.
then there’s tony. i mean, we knew he was the main protagonist, and im not objecting that, (even if i think it’s really strange he’d be born in 1970) but idk. that was strange’s plan? all that for that? and pepper just went, eh what the hell, just die, i can raise this kid you wanted. (i know, i know, she’s her mom, she cares), but it was just so flat. and idk. i mean, rdj wanted his life back, just as evans, but i’d want to see that switched, that tony get to retire and steve sacrifice himself to save the world. tony could still be the deciding factor in strange’s plan even if steve delivered the coup de grace. at least he cared enough to show an emotion™when peter came back, which was more than steve bothered with. jfc they fucked up steve.
then there’s the time travel. okay, a few things about the 2012 thing. they put him in the elevator, and then, instead of having him just kick the crap out of the agents, they reference hydra!cap? the biggest shitstorm in the comics in the last two decades? like what the actual fuck? then of course there’s the americas ass thing, which, again, that’s steve, cares about his ass but not his friends! (but at least 2012 steve cares about bucky, maybe he’ll save him a couple of years early, back to the future steve will just live out his life knowing bucky is getting tortured somewhere in siberia, good times.) oh! and i guess they have their loophole to get loki back too, great, they’ll probably just forget that he’s not in the main timeline, bc who cares. 
and the fun just keeps coming with the time travel. oh they tried with some crap explanation that no one can make sense of, but here’s the kicker. they can’t either, they don’t even want to try, they don’t even agree with each other.

how did they know to meet up in wakanda or wherever, the dustees? did strange send a memo? not just the ppl in the soul realm or wherever they were, but all the others too, like valkyrie and hope. time and place just magically popped into their heads? and what happened when they all came back? or some came back, bc obviously a shit ton of ppl died at the dusting, like the pilot of a 747 gone? plane goes down and such, ppl really dead. and where do they reappear? where they disappeared? aka those passengers that got dusted comes back mid flight? fun! and what about the ones that moved on in their absence? what happens to the ones that come back when their wives and husbands are remarried, when there’s no place for them in their old lives. did all of peter’s classmates get dusted, or did the rest of the class graduate without him, i must assume that all of those in s:ffh did, otherwise some would be in college by now, yeah?
and that’s another reason their watertight time travel is leaky af, there’s no way to get the logistics to work. the only option as such would have been to go back to 2018 and fix it, to reset time, bc otherwise there are just too many holes, it’s just not possible. but they can’t do that bc then they’ll undo all the things that happen in the future that the characters don’t want to lose, like tony’s kid. 
oh, i know, it’s a superhero movie, but im strange like that, i expect a modicum of internal logic in all my movies, the bitch that i am. 
okay, im gonna leave it there, ive run out of steam, and i want to gif a set. there’s a few things more, but i think you’ve gotten the gist, that i’m not a fan of this movie and a short (lol, so sorry, nothing is ever digest with me, i should’ve warned you) list of reasons why. honestly this is the first time i’ve really don’t a more general account, ive pretty much stuck to steve and that crapshute, there’s a lot of other blogs that concentrate on the other characters, i’d list a few, but i don’t have it in me rn, pop me a msg if you’re interested, also if you’re interested in some real meta, this rambling rant isn’t something that people should be exposed to honestly. 
avengers: endgame was a shit movie and no amount of “he’s worthy” and “avengers assemble” is going to fix that, BUT if you enjoyed it, i don’t think less of you, obviously everyone is different, and i envy the hell out of you, i sorely wish i could’ve liked it too. the russos directed what is by far the best movie in the mcu imo, tws, and they had us all fooled, even if we probably should’ve seen it coming after iron man 4: civil war.

You wanted to gaslight this. You think I make Pardo an innocent baby, cinnamon roll? That I somehow divert and change him from canon too much? That I’m a bad person because I can’t settle for a half-assed written character to get the ending he did but I’m supposed to just deal with that because characters should just be bad people sometimes? When I’ve seen on here that it’s okay for everyone else to modify characters and their outcomes? What makes developing on Pardo so wrong or different? How do you know my Pardo’s too ooc, because I have what, a literal handful of fans I can count by urls, of my Pardo interpretation. I don’t just throw my ideas out there to just anybody so really, how could anyone know I don’t have multiple interpretations to fit possible AUs, unless they ask with genuine interest.  
I can’t have one AU where none of that killer shit happens and he’s just a cop? Not one? Not even an AU that depicts before the killings happen? Nothing? It’s hardly reasonable to apply real life police problems and personal hate to a fictional reality parallel to our own. The hotline universe is an AU; the US got into war with the Russians and lost. That’s the basis of our story and real life politics honestly can’t apply anymore because of that. You probably think I glorify real life police, well I don’t. I know very well the differences between real life cops and fictional ones and the ones I like are just that, fictional. What I don’t like is the devs knowingly making Pardo dirty just to appeal to a pseudo-leftist viewpoint and it’s so bad it worked. Just ate it up
And you really can’t just keep these private replies with your likeminded friends? A Discord club isn’t enough for you? Nope gotta put it out there in the open where everyone can see it, knowing who your mutuals are, and you know some like Pardo without this one way rhetoric that somehow only has one Hall Pass available for the FUCKED UP character award. 
And you really, brought up Evan too? Oh my god. I’m gonna start basic here so like bear with me, small words. Evan’s play style mechanics come with the ability to rage out and become lethal. This is activated at the players will at any time and only stops when everyone is dead or he dies. This blatantly implies he clearly has bad anger issues and is possibly a wife beater. As a context clue, if we compare that his earlier passive gun disarms are part of his personality then there you go, so is the raging out. We can’t forget the intro to First Trial where he punches the door guard in the face, because he was impatient for being denied entry, possibly killing him. There had to be more going on at home for his wife to leave him and take the kids too so suddenly. And does he stop what he’s doing, when she leaves? Maybe, if the player chooses, but with how far he already went with it and his persistence to blackmail Pardo for info, did you really canonly believe he did stop writing at the end?
Why can’t we all agree to hate on Martin? I’d say Jake but surprisingly someone is a fan of Jake, so I’m not gonna throw him under the bus even if I don’t like him, who would have thought? But I have never seen in my 4 years of this fandom anyone express a serious interest in Martin Brown. And even if it was ‘just a movie’ for his case, dream sequences used in media are meant to symbolize a dive into the subconscious. He said himself in the interview he wanted to kill kids and shit, that he was happy to do that in Midnight Animal. He’s also visually depicted committing a rape scene in the film that has an option to be skipped, that makes it a big deal even if it’s not ‘real life’. Richard even taunts saying ‘go ahead and call it just a movie’. That doesn’t spark even a little question on credibility of what’s real and a movie? They wanted to show you what a creep he was outright and yet, silence there. 
What I’m saying is, there are genuine Pardo fans in the fandom, they have not been tricked by me into liking him if that’s what you believe. They have their own reasons and it’s not any less than the opinions you have about your favorites. The problem here is the difference in number. There will always be PLENTY of Jacket, Biker, Beard, Girlfriend, Ninja Girl, The Fans, Richter, the Ghost Wolves, Henchman, Evan, The Son,, Jake, and apparently Martin defenders/fans? But every time you throw Manny under the bus for this, ego boost rally, a Pardo fan is forced into silence, and for what, so you never have to hear the potential other side and question maybe, things aren’t so bad, or at least a little bad for each faction? Being a Pardo fan since late 2014, I feel I have to defend the others who I’m sure can relate to the feeling of having their fav shamed/hated/undeserving of redemption/memed, on, for the past 2 years for being the ‘problematic fav’. This isn’t even about characterizations, it’s just about showing respect that your words are not a vacuum here, the things you say and openly post can hurt people, make them ashamed, and just dampen their day because they happen to enjoy the ‘generally hated bad man’ and they read the post you shoddily made public about him. 
And again, sure the media we see is our responsibility, but this bandwagoning Pardo memeing is real, and everywhere in the fandom, it doesn’t matter who we block. It’s spread so wide we might as well leave? That’s the end game for you, isn’t it? To push out other creative talents and backgrounds, who happen to have a conflicting opinion; just like vaguing Jante over a ‘don’t tag kin/me’ caption on their art. With the ulterior reason being that Jante was a Jacket-Biker shipper at one point and literally nothing else, besides maybe they get dev recognition on their work and that’s just too much jealousy to handle, right? Jante was pushed away over a minor difference of opinion/ship choice, and it’s encouraged to mock them when they aren’t here anymore to defend themselves? What a group of role models you are.

The Marvel of Trelsi (Intro)

I can’t stay away from these two; they will have me smiling in my grave. Having been heavily critical of the writing for the High School Musical series, I must temper my own acidic tongue (typing fingers) to celebrate what I call “The Marvel of Trelsi”. As I am currently writing Trelsi fic (which WILL be finished sometime this century), and trying to get at least 1500 words a day, I need to write as much meta as possible to flesh out my ideas and headcanons for this pairing. 
What to say? That I love Trelsi is an understatement. That I will keep repeating this is a given. And despite all of my sarcasm, opprobrium and inveterate anger towards the writers of the HSM franchise, who ruined my viewing experience by sinking the RMS Troy Bolton whilst claiming the ship could not sink, the creation of Trelsi is to their credit. It is gloriously ironic that the show set out to demonstrate that the main couple epitomised the ideal of love and a solid relationship, but ended up demonstrating this between the protagonist and an allegedly minor character instead. As I have said before, Troy and Kelsi grow from strength to strength throughout the movie series, whilst Troy and a certain other lady go careening down a mountainside in blizzard conditions. So, I must give full credit to the screenwriters for creating this ship and thus fostering an enduring love for two of the most likeable characters I have ever seen onscreen. 
In reality, no introduction to Trelsi is needed. Or at least none that supersedes the beautiful screenshot I have at the top, reposted for the pure joy of it. Interestingly, when I use the word “Trelsi”, I am actually referring to their canonical friendship FIRST, before referring to a potential romantic ship. Apart from being easier to write, I like to adhere very closely to canon and build my ideas from that basis before branching into my own headcanons. I have an intense dislike for OOC and all the horrors that spring from that Pandora’s Box. This friendship comes as a result of Troy taking an interest in Kelsi’s music and resurrecting her self-esteem after she has been bossed around by Sharpay Evans during the first movie. The two become friends very quickly and prove to work as a great team during the production and execution of two major musicals in Junior and Senior Year. 
You will notice, of course, that I exclude Gabriella from this description-- not because she wasn’t present for the beginning of the Trelsi timeline, but because she had no hand in its development. I am currently planning several Trelsi fics, one of which includes a significant rewrite of the canonical timeline without Gabriella, and most of the major events would have happened either in a different way or with no change whatsoever were she not there. I notice that many fandom writers will often describe Kelsi as being friends with Troy and Gabriella. This intrigues me, as it implies that she is friends with them on an equal basis. Call me picky, but appears to be untrue. I cannot think of any scene between Kelsi and Gabriella that comes anywhere near the Trelsi bond. What do I mean by the Trelsi bond? I mean primarily the unspoken understanding between them that makes the two so effortlessly comfortable around each other. Case in point: the lovely, LOVELY hug in HSM III seems obvious, but I draw the viewer’s attention back to HSM I, when Troy tries out “What I’ve Been Looking For”. Isn’t it interesting that Kelsi only has to nod at him to start singing the song, but guides Gabriella through the first line before letting her sing the rest? Troy, who is notably MORE nervous about performing, has never tried this song before and seemed a little surprised when Kelsi asked whether he wanted to hear “how the duet’s supposed to sound?”
Yes, I know, this is MINOR. But it intrigues me. We will discuss this in more detail during the next instalment. 
I have LOADS of notes in my Google Drive on Trelsi, because it was and still is incredibly important for me to understand WHY I shipped them, the potential and realistic avenues for this ship and how to portray their dynamic. I’m going to try and condense those notes in my next couple of posts when I explore their beautiful, but cruelly limited scenes together. Unlike the average shipper, I tend to think-- overly much, from the length of my Tumblr posts-- on ships and dynamics. In the beginning, I wanted to ship Troyella. It seemed natural to me, as they were stamped across the screen. Turns out I could only ship one half of Troyella; that is, Troy Bolton, who is so such a sympathetic hero. He has flaws. He struggles*. He has a journey. He grows (when the screenwriters allow him to!). We see this. Gabriella? I got nothing. Believe me, I tried. That’s why I was pinning my hopes on HSM III to deliver. This did not happen, and that prompted a 13 (see my archive for April/May!) post series on my fury with this movie and the dreadful implications for Troy Bolton, the art of writing and human decency. 
So, throughout this series, I will examine Trelsi with my usual fine-tooth comb, as viewed through the scenes in the movies as well as my headcanons and musings. Of course, I do not pretend to be impartial. I have a very unfavourable view of Troyella, as one may already have gathered; however, whilst being scathing towards this “relationship”, I have and will continue to provide evidence for my opinions here. I will frequently compare the Troyella dynamic with the Trelsi dynamic. Please do not be surprised to find that Trelsi wins 11 times out of 10. I am not bound by the Trade Descriptions Act or any other regulatory equivalent, so I can say whatever the hell I like. 
The particular themes and questions I want to explore alongisde my scene analysis are:
1- Who IS Troy Bolton?
2- Who IS Kelsi Nielsen?
3- What makes the Trelsi friendship and dynamic so friggin’s special? Why does it make me want to weep and write poetry?
4- Friendship, Romance or Both? What’s their dynamic? What would attract the both of them? What are their flaws? How would these flaws work together?
5- Why is Trelsi a superior potential romantic ship to Troyella? (Oh, I’m going to have a field day with THAT one!) Why is Trelsi so poorly appreciated as a potential romantic ship?
I may add some more questions later on. I am definitely open to prompts and questions from anyone reading this. My posts are long, partially because I think too deeply about things, partially because I have a daily word count to smash, partially because I am depressed by the lack of all things Trelsi and mostly because HSM, despite infuriating me, GAVE ME TRELSI SO I’M HERE FOREVER! :D Anyway, I hope this will be fun. One thing I’d like to see more of in the HSM fandom is a willingness to at least consider other ships that aren’t called TroyHELLa. I’m not asking for conversion to Trelsi. (Although that would be nice. One, I’m pretty lonely out here. Two, these two have a healthy dynamic!). But it would be good if more fans actually detached Troy from Gabriella’s umbilical cord and viewed him firstly as a man and a hero protagonist, and secondly with potential other characters either platonically or romantically. For a series that is supposed to represent being YOURself, you would think fans would take that on board, huh? 
Try it? You might like it.

(*FOOTNOTE- I have no time for people who claim that Troy Bolton is a privileged brat. Unless you can give me the name of a privileged brat who treats everyone equally, is kind, generous, thoughtful, mature, hard-working, gets ALL his friends jobs for the summer and makes friends with kids who would be considered “uncool”, always has a kind word for everyone, always appreciates other people’s achievements and is always on hand to help his friends, then please do be quiet. With a father who is a public school teacher and who struggles to pay high tuition fees, I think any such argument is dead in the water. Claims that Troy was a “jerk” in HSM II are entirely unfounded-- please refer to my Questions for HSM II Part I and Part II for further information. Claims that Gabriella was right to pursue her own future are fine, without the odious implication that Troy stood in her way. This is completely false. Rather, it is Gabriella who stood in Troy’s way of achieving a much-needed scholarship back in HSM II. Claims that being a popular basketball player make you a jerk are rendered absurd by the very obvious social pressure that accompanies such a level of fame, and which deeply affect Troy in every movie. This is thoroughly nonsensical. Claims that Gabriella is a privileged brat are, of course, founded in fact).

Flonks I love them so fucking much because i feel like they’re two independent beings that would respect each other’s boundaries and support each other without question. They would uplift the other without any limit and what would matter is the individual and what they each need in order to be fulfilled and happy and that occurs so rarely in relationships. They would never feel threatened by the other’s desires and actions because they would be confident in themselves and the other enough to put every little thing into perspective.They would be a rare gem that way. Quite frankly, i would kill for a relationship like this.
Larvati: What i love about them is that they love wholeheartedly and they’re so sweet and beautiful and gentle with the other. Always in their bubble kind of love.
Pansmione: I like the idea of enemies turned into lovers and they would bring the other soooo much tbh like it’s insane how they could make each other so much better. And i don’t know i can imagine them being silly and fighting for a better outcome. I like that even though canonly i’d rather Hermione avoid the pain of this kind of relationship entirely. So i ship them but would not like it in canon i think lol.
Narlily: Just like Pansmione, they would better the other + forbidden love and all that. Also i just think it could flawlessly be incorporated to the canon story bc there are so many things linking them (they’re both named after flowers, beautiful mothers, both saved Harry for the love of their son etc). I don’t think in canon Narcissa would actually date a muggle-born (nor Lily a muggle-born hater) but yeah the idea is so nice!
Cissatrix: Oh my. Where do i even begin??? They went from joke to otp real quick in my heart hahaha! First of all i just like their canon relationship a lot (the fact that Narcissa is the only one with Voldemort that Bellatrix allows to be confrontational with her, the fact that Bellatrix followed Narcissa to Snape’s even though it was potentially betraying Voldemort, the fact that Narcissa welcomed Bellatrix in her home after she was released from Azkaban bc tbh she wasn’t obliged to at all). I won’t lie, the fact that in the movies they’re played by two of my favorite actresses helped a lot bc at one point i just wanted hbc and helen mccrory to kiss lol!! But what i absolutely love about them is everything that wasn’t told in canon: their childhood, how they interact with each other intimately idk there’s just so much space for imagination and character study. I imagine they wouldn’t be able to grow without the other and i like the idea of incest in the Black family. I just think the whole thing about them makes sense and it’s so bloody dramatic and tragic and hot you know? hahaha
Ginsy: They’re a match. They are both strong-headed and stubborn enough to shut the other when they’re wrong. It takes no effort to imagine them hanging out. They would tame the other and at times make each other explode and i love how vividly they would live their relationship.
Paphne: They understand the other, best friends, nice sex, love and support and no hassle basically. + they aesthetically very pleasing 
Wolfstar: I feel like it’s already canon bc it just suits the story and the characters and idk there’s not much to say about it, they’re in love and they’re my boys and they are stupidly adorable. Feels like they feel happy around the other and that’s what matters in the end right?
Andromeda/Ted: The slytherin girl and her hufflepuff lover that’s ALL i need in this world. Let hufflepuffs and slytherins fall in love with each other because no combination is more beautiful in my opinion. She helps him see that as an individual he deserves to exist, to be happy and loved even if sometimes the consequences can hurt others. He understands her and thinks without prejudice and he doesn’t ask anything in return. She just desperately needs that. They need each other and yeah the whole pure-blood/muggle-born idea is sexy.
Drarry: CANON. The canon is enough but what people make about them on here is just fucking glorious and funny and sexy and they’re perfect. They’re destined to be together. Every alternate universe where they’re not together feels wrong so yeah. 
Blaise/Padma: The ultimate aro duo. I LOVE them. It would be difficult for them to end up together but man when they would…..
Jily: I started shipping them bc my main notp is Severus/Lily and i mean like…i trust Lily if she finds that James Potter is the one you know. I like that Lily is a sexual woman that doesn’t choose who she’s attracted to and doesn’t go for the nice guy just because apparently women owe nice guys sex or whatever. I trust and respect Lily Evans’ choices completely and although i think the whole “he harasses her and she ends up falling in love with him” is literal shit i like that she was honest with him and it’s not much the fact that he tried that i liked but that he sucked it all in and took the punches one after the other bc he deserved it and that’s that.
Grindeldore: Albus Dumbledore is my absolute love, i’ve loved him since i started reading the books and i remember being like 12 (or 13??) and reading deathly hollows and perfectly knowing the extent of their relationship and then forgot about it and when jkr said it publicly while the last movie was being released and people were surprised and freaking out i was like “how did you not see this??” bc this story line just made perfect sense to me all along. So idk they’re very personal to me and i unconditionally love both characters individually and damn, their story needs to be told properly bc there’s so much to it, my heart hurts.
Lucius/Rodolphus: Oh i just love the fun they could be. We know so little about Rodolphus but i imagine him to be a sarcastic cold insensitive man and maaan lucius is the complete opposite and they would be so funny together.
Sirius/Regulus: Again, the Black incest thing and Regulus loved his brother to death and he deserved that he would love him back and it would be difficult and Sirius would try to fight it so hard and Regulus would be his weakness. My boys
Tom/Harry/Ginny: Tom/Harry i LOVE bc they are so much alike and yet their differences were crucial in who they became. There’s a literal part of Tom in Harry and morally grey Harry is what i live for. But i figured they would probably destroy the other without someone else and even if i might like that, i thought Ginny would be a proper link after tom used her in canon. Obviously this is not a ship that would last forever but i’d be so down to see and read that.
Lupin/Tonks: My babies that i both want to protect and be protected by. I love their canon story and i like the positive things they bring to the other. That said i think they were quite toxic and i feel like not enough for the other? But definitely beautiful and absolutely sweet bc Tonks would kick his unconfident ass and Lupin just relax and laugh around her like he forgot how to after the first war.
