summary: you and your girlfriend make a bet about who can last the longest without sex.

warnings: nsfw themes but no smut (yet), sorta humiliation, praise, mentions of overstim and bondage and punishment, explicit language. you and melissa are gay idiots

notes: a little something for your kinktober tastes! sorry it's not the fluffiest story—i'm like mostly aromantic, so i can't write love very well. this is my first time writing with the whole abbott gang, so let me know how i did! this one goes out to the girls who love teasing, light bickering, and sexy dialogue.

it all started with a bet.

you and melissa had been dating for just under a month (publicly for two weeks), and it was pure bliss. every time she looked at you with that playful sparkle in her eyes, you wanted to melt. she cared for you in a way that never failed to warm your heart.

she was passionate, too. her touch was magic. she could just lightly graze your thigh with her fingers, and you'd be putty in her hands. and she made you feel desirable. every time you were intimate, you could tell she was hungry for you. it turned you on beyond belief.

although things were wonderful between you two, you both loved a fight. you both realized this early on, and you'd take turns starting silly arguments for the fun of it. you could never resist pushing each other's buttons.

at worst, it would end with one of you pouting and the other apologizing. at best, it would end with you bent over melissa's lap as she took her frustrations out on you, or with you between her legs making up for being mean, or with her whispering soft apologies in your ear as she bounced you on her fingers...

tonight she had you pinned against her kitchen counter, kissing her way down your neck and relishing in your high-pitched sounds of need. she had been teasing you all day, working you up into a frenzy, and you did nothing but whine about how unfair it was. you would have let it go, but that was before she said...

"you're so easy, hon." she laughed into the crook of our neck, responding to your helpless whimpers. you pulled back and looked at her with wide eyes.

"mel... i am not," you said with a pout. she stared back at you, an amused smirk playing on her lips. god, she looked beautiful like this: her red hair slightly out of place, her full chest heaving, her eyes heavy with want.

"sure you're not," she teased. "that's why your legs are trembling 'n you can barely hold yourself up after a little bit of kissing."

she kissed the tip of your nose and you blushed, knowing she was right. she pressed you harder against the counter, holding your hips with both hands. she gently pinched the skin there, silently asking if she could continue. you shook your head resolutely.

"let's make this more interesting," you said, with mischief written on your face. melissa perked up. she loved bets. "no sex until one of us gives in and asks for it."

"alright, but don't ask me to put money on it. you know i quit gamblin' after i bet ava that jacob couldn't do a backflip."

"he is surprisingly agile," you giggled at the memory. "how about... if i win, you buy me that white lingerie set we saw at the store the other day."

melissa shuddered internally at the thought of her beautiful, innocent angel in such a heavenly set. the image gave her an idea of her own.

"deal," she leaned in close, ghosting her lips over the shell of your ear. "but if i win... i get to tie your arms and legs to the bedposts and make you come over and over until you sob."

you forgot how to breathe for a moment, and your knees nearly buckled underneath you. you contemplated folding right then, but you wanted to see where this little game would lead.

"you're on, schemmenti." you shook her hand, and melissa chuckled at your attempt at a firm handshake. even her laugh got you flustered and needy. you were a goner.

you knew melissa would come up with some plot to make you lose the game, but you didn't expect it to happen so soon. the next morning, you and melissa were sitting at your usual table in the workroom, sipping coffee and chatting with everyone. that's when her antics started.

"hey, doll, would you mind grabbin' me another cup of coffee?" melissa asked, handing you her 'tucci on' mug and flashing that irresistibly charming smile. you took the mug from her hands and gave her a quick peck on the cheek before heading to the coffee maker.

you could feel her eyes on you as you stood up, straightening out your skirt that had ridden up a bit too far to be appropriate for school. she continued to stare you down as you poured the coffee and brought it to her. you felt breathless from the intensity of her full attention.

"that's my good girl, thank you," she practically purred when you handed her the coffee, looking up at you smugly through her glasses. you nearly dropped the mug from shock, shooting her a look. how could she be so bold in front of your coworkers? it made you blush furiously.

gregory was the first to catch on, giving an awkward side eye to the cameras at melissa's words. melissa was undeterred, taking a sip of her coffee and making an exaggerated sound of pleasure, causing you to hide your face in your hands.

"god, that hits the spot," melissa said lowly, smirking at her own innuendo. jacob and janine looked between the two of you and each other, trading curious looks.

"oh hon, your necklace is all tangled in the back," melissa said, standing up and positioning herself behind you. "let me fix it for ya."

the older woman leaned down and caressed up your arms, leaving goosebumps in her wake. her fingers then crawled from your collarbones to the back of your neck, where she knew you were sensitive. she pretended to adjust your necklace while her fingers drew lazy patterns there. that, combined with the feeling of her warmth on you after the previous night's denial, had you weak. she sat back down in her chair with a satisfied huff.

at melissa's odd behavior and your pitiful reaction, your friends put it together that something was going on. even barbara gave melissa a questioning look. still, nobody said anything. until ava entered the room. the principal took one look at your flushed face and broke the silence.

"damn schemmenti, what'd you do to this one? i figured you were into some kinky shit, but..." she trailed off.

"AVA!" janine, barbara, and melissa scolded at once. "not appropriate!" barbara added.

"fine, but y'all know i'm right," ava said. she turned to you and melissa. "you better be at happy hour tonight. this looks juicy, and i'm gonna need some entertainment besides janine's dance moves."

you tuned out janine's offended "hey!", remembering the plans for that night. happy hour. fuck. you needed a plan, and a good one.

you never thought you'd willingly ask for ava's help on anything, but here you were. you sat in her office with your arms folded, embarrassed to be sharing this with your boss of all people. then again, ava was the probably the only person who knew how to get the job done.

"you really think that'll work?" you asked, mulling over ava's idea.

"obviously. you gotta use that body, girl. i'm talkin' playboy bunny sexy," she scrolled on her phone as she talked, keeping up her usual disinterested demeanor.

"but... what if she's put off by it?" you wondered aloud. ava looked up from her phone and raised an eyebrow at you.

"i don't know if you've noticed, but your girlfriend's a total perv," she deadpanned. your jaw dropped and you stared at her, incredulous. "what, it's true! i see her lookin' up your skirt and down your shirt every damn day. y'all nasty."

she was right, of course. you didn't always catch it, but whenever you bent over in front of melissa, she looked ready to eat you alive. you gave in and started to plot tonight's outfit in your head.

"thanks, ava! next time i need help coming up with a scheme, i'll come to you," you said, bouncing out of the room excitedly.

"run, little lesbian bunny! go get your girl!" ava laughed to herself and went back to her phone.

melissa's eyes were dark and narrow, fixed on you in your special outfit. you couldn't tell if she was angry or turned on. probably both.

your clothing was tasteful, yet tantalizing: a strawberry pink crop top with a generous v-neck and white mini skirt (the one that drove mel crazy). a sheer pink slip was draped over your shoulders, giving your body a distinct glow under the bar lights. you had even dolled yourself up with makeup—soft lip gloss and glittery eyeshadow, plus classic eyeliner and mascara—and worn your favorite white heels to match. you looked out of place in the bar, like an angel wandering the earth.

you pointedly ignored melissa as she stared daggers at you. you played with your hair with one hand and held your drink with the other, dancing and talking with jacob and ava. you made sure to run your hands up and down your body while you moved to the music. jacob droned on to you about the color pink and how it's so powerful for women to reclaim it. barbara stood next to melissa, the pair leaning against the wall and trading hushed remarks.

while jacob continued to talk, you made your move. you gave ava a nudge and she nodded, then "accidentally" knocked your water out of your hand—completely soaking your shirt and a bit of your skirt. you stood up in faux shock and finally made eye contact with melissa as you palmed at your clothes (and body).

"oh godddd," you whined, dragging out the sound. two could play at that game. you walked over to melissa. "baby, can you clean me up? i know you keep napkins in your purse."

melissa was salivating. she shamelessly drank in the sight of your body all wet, your tits glistening with droplets of water. the water was icy cold, so the outlines of your nipples were visible underneath your shirt. she was almost too focused on the view to process your request, and scrambled to find the napkins in her purse once she caught up.

"uhmmm yeah, yeah, i gotcha, honey," melissa said in a rare moment of weakness.

when a napkin inevitably got lost in the shuffle and fell to the ground, you knew you had won. you bent over slowly, wiggling your ass subtly as you picked it up. you stumbled backwards as you stood back up, deliberately brushing up against her front.

"i'm so cold, mel..." you turned around, leaned even closer into her, and grabbed hold of her shirt, tracing lazy patterns on her chest to tease her. "i've got goosebumps, feel!"

you took her hand in yours and then placed it at the top of your left breast, where your heart was. the soft skin was indeed covered in goosebumps, and even more emerged when melissa started lightly massaging. she couldn't help herself. you both felt your heartbeat quicken at her touch and shared a look of understanding.

"guess we should get ya home then, huh?" melissa smiled, wrapping her arm around your waist. you nodded, nuzzling into her.

you two said goodbye to your friends before leaving the bar. ava gave you a wink and a lewd gesture as you walked out the door, making you roll your eyes. barbara rose her wine glass and nodded at melissa, giving her a silent "cheers."

as soon as the car door shut, melissa grabbed your thigh to get your full attention.

"i quit," she smiled. "and i'll be happy to buy you that lingerie, especially after seein' you in this pretty little number."

your breath caught in your throat as you remembered what she'd promised to do if she won. she had never punished you before. your core throbbed at the idea.

"i guess it's only fair that you get a... consolation prize," you replied sheepishly, grinning from ear to ear as you watched her face light up.

By Mark's recollection, Paul's manager Richard Ogden summoned him into the MPL office the next day where he read him the riot act for bringing an unwelcome guest to Paul's party. 'What do you mean by bringing someone who was so obviously gay to Paul's Christmas party? Have you any idea about the responsibility you carry in this project?' he allegedly asked. 'What are you talking about?' replied Featherstone-Witty, explaining who his friend was. 'But he was gay, you stupid fucker!' 'No, he isn't.' 'You've got to be careful. You can't do anything that would embarrass Paul...'"

So, I want to talk about Helluva Boss, namely episode 1 of season 2

I namely wanted to talk about a few main things, buts let’s go scene by scene

First of all, baby! Stolas is precious, and precious and gay

While it did break my heart it was good to learn he and Stella didn’t marry for love, considering their present situation. It wasn’t so much that they fell out of love over time, but that they never loved each other at all, only getting together out of the need to bare an heir.

Even if Stella were a good person (which she is definitely not!!!) their relationship would probably have never worked out considering that Stolas is completely, utterly gay.

I mean, look at his face when he sees Blitz, that is a boy with a puppy love crush.

Honestly learning they’d met when they were kids makes their later arrangement that much more heartbreaking for a number of reasons

While I don’t have the screen grab for it, one thing I did wonder is if ‘worm horse’ was foreshadowing (is it foreshadowing if we already know the shadow) to Fizz losing his arms and legs.

For one, while it clear that Blitz was made aware of why he was sold to the Goetias it might have been that Stolas was never told that his father literally paid for Blitz to be his friend.

Also isn’t it utterly fucked up that Blitz’ dad LITERALLY sold his son for five bucks, and manipulated is scared child into stealing for him, which if Blitz had been caught I have no doubt that Stolas’ father would’ve killed him for it, especially since he is just an imp.

It was especially difficult for me that when Buckzo (I think that’s his dad’s name) talked about ‘helping pa and ma’ and Blitz says ‘of course I want to help ma’ not you or you guys, just his mother, which is just really sad considering the end of the last episode.

It also makes me wonder if Stolas got into trouble because of Blitz’ stealing, as much as it was fun in the moment, and fun for the two kids that day, there had to have been an afterward

Another note, which really hurts is that Stolas told Blitz about his grimoire and how it could take demons to the human world.

Which is later how Blitz knows to steal it, using that knowledge from the day when they were friends.

While I don’t think Stolas was pining for Blitz all these years, he was his gay awakening, and it makes sense for those feelings to come rushing back when he says him again later, though it’s obvious that Stolas is not as suave and forward as normal, despite his flirting.

It’s, almost sweet how they end up flirting, especially since it wasn’t coercion. Stolas was openly and enthusiastically wanting Blitz, and Blitz definitely could have made up with the book, especially since they didn’t really keep it quick

The last thing I wanted to talk about was Stella. Originally had had some sympathy for her, and with the knowledge given that was understandable. Her husband cheats on her with someone she views as beneath her, and she rightfully gets pissed, to the point of actively wanting him dead.

However, my view point has changed with this episode.

We’re shown and told that Stella and Stolas never loved eachother, that isn’t why they got married, as mentioned earlier.

We’re also shown that Stella, even pre-adultery, was incredibly mean and nasty towards Stolas. Publicly humiliating him, throwing things, yelling, and insulting him- and shows sick glee and making him suffer.

I really like the scene at the end, here:

You can see that Stolas actually looks, frightened, of Stella, and throughout this scene you see his exhaustion turn to anger, and while he is drawing back in the end he really does stand up for himself and his happiness as he forces the divorce

I really love this last shot, the finality of it, that Stolas is truly cutting Stella out of his life

All in all, fantastic episode, well worth the wait, and thanks I didn’t need my heart

OMG GOLDY, your post where you mention catching a grenade for the one you love. I can't stop thinking about a few months back when Jk was going through his missing Jimin spiral & during one of those lives, he sang Bruno Mars Grenade. Its so painful to listen to him. He wanted Jimin so bad while he was super duper busy & now we know Jikook have had this planned out for a while, enlisting and going through the process for a while. He really meant that song, every fucking word of it.

Also Jikook are fucking geniuses. Some said they thought they were laying low publicly cause of MS & now it seems true. They didn't want added attention cause they were going through the process behind the scenes. They weren't about to gay out. Taking separate planes to meet up. Smart as fuck. Jk however, couldn't keep his emotions in check & kept going rogue on their plan & started doing his Jimin lives. Doing online stuff Just enough to let us know everything was great, even if we weren't seeing them together. Jk timing his lives when JM leaves & posting pics for Jimin to comment. You sneaky little shits. Its all deliberate. Jikook keeping it online, even though we know they were meeting up behind closed doors, due to things they were saying and things they were working on, that was picked up by k-army. Like Jimin talking about them drinking together or Jk mentioning Jimin moving his stuff. Never underestimate queers in the closet. They always get their message across. Now that the process is over and it seems to be a done deal for them. Now look. Jikook took that plane TOGETHER to Tokyo (no more separate planes) and went on one last vacation together. No more worries cause it's most likely set in stone them enlisting together and the hard part is over and now nothing can hinder it now. Damn, that must have killed Jikook having to watch people claim they weren't close after Chapter 2. Don't those people feel stupid.

I also wonder if this is why Jk tried to say that J on his finger above the M is for Jk, cause its too obvious going into Military with a big ass J M on his wedding ring finger, knowing he is enlisting with JM. Interesting.

Cos I swear if people didn't know him and you showed them that hand they'd assume that was Jimin's hand since it had his initials on there.

If I were a director at Hybe, I'd set them up and let them talk about it head on and make a joke out of it with Jimin stating for the camera- Jungkook is obsessed with me he even has my name on his finger.

I mean he said he's always thought Jk was his copy cat it would make so much if he escalates it into obsession cos that's where we at now🤧

so it's actually kind of tricky to add deidara to the itatori fake dating power couple because despite both of them acting insane about it, they're actually almost entirely on the same page about what they want out of a relationship. neither of them are super into actual romance or physical affection, but having another person socially bound to show up and back you up is nice even if neither will admit it. itachi will die if he has to learn to be vulnerable with someone else but following tori around like a weird ghost at social events is just how life is sometimes, and if he says something out of line she'll roll her eyes and not cry over it. tori thinks itachi is rude and controlling and also there was that period where he actively wanted to kill her, but if she insists a good boyfriend would help her with X, he'll.... usually do it, even if X is an absurdly selfish demand.

and i think deidara does want active sex life, and he won't ADMIT it but he likes being dated. he thinks tori and itachi's relationship is really weird and also very annoying to him personally, how dare they. so we need something stupid and contrived to make the throuple even happen. such as:

tori and deidara are roommates.

deidara obviously knows their dating is fake, because he KNOWS them. also because usually when itachi comes over, tori just like. ignores him

like itachi is only there because he likes having Away Time from home, and spending the night at his girlfriend's is a normal reason to not be home. he knows tori wants her own alone time. he's just going to quietly hangout in their living room and then crash on the couch

deidara: ....but why are you H E R E

itachi: ? i literally just explained it?

i think at some point it's going to become obvious to the wider konoha populace that there's something off about ItaTori.... like itachi is konoha's most eligible bachelor so people are Watching because everyone KNOWS mikoto periodically interviews kunoichi about a potential marriage match, and no one has seen them even kiss a cheek, and also a few people have definitely noticed tori being Obnoxious On Purpose. itachi IS an asshole but bc the entire canon is obsessed with him, i've decided only his inner most circle has realized this. clearly tori is his evil, overbearing girlfriend he can't get out of a toxic relationship with

itachi: no :( if the rumor gets too bad this won't work any more and then i'll have to date an actual 18 year old :( tori i care about her problems so little. what if she tries to kiss me :(

tori, sailing right by the idea they should attempt to be more publicly amorous, because LOL: okay we're going to have to redirect with an even juicier rumor then.... let's see, what do people know.... we're not into each other enough, and also they think i'm a gold digger*.... i've heard people wondering what happens when you spend the night here.....

itachi decides this is GREAT because he knows "publicly date a woman who could make you heirs while fucking your boyfriend on the side" IS the solution to the uchiha heir being gay. they barely have to change anything. they just have to catch him shoving deidara against a wall at a couple parties and then dragging him into a private room

the thing is deidara reacts exactly correctly to itachi doing this. he gets red and flustered. he acts embarrassed and twitchy when asked about it later. he's been obsessed with itachi for years.....

anyway they forget to tell deidara what itachi was doing until AFTER the rumor mill gets around to him, and deidara has to go scream alone in a forest for a while

deidara wants to blow them both up but then he looks deep down inside his soul and actually he would. like. to fuck itachi.......

i think deidara gets more frustrated with the entire thing more often because he has more interest in the whole stupid arrangement not being fake, so if i wrote it i think his addition would catalyze it moving into more of a "real" throuple, instead of "friends who mutually enjoy tricking other people for fun and profit social benefit"

as for who annoys each other most.... i think deidara has it in his head that tori > itachi because he decided it eons ago when he had more of a grudge against itachi, and he's not actually very good at changing his mind. so he's more forgiving of tori's annoying quirks while itachi is more likely to drive him insane. tori is actually more likely to actively annoying itachi, because most of deidara's annoying habits are very "it happens and then it's done," whereas tori is irritating over longer periods, and also sometimes entirely on purpose. for tori, i think itachi is generally more likely to pick at her nerves, but also since they've been In Cahoots more, she's more likely to forgive/understand him than in original flavor plasticity, and also deidara is less good at Cahoots which can annoy her

i'm imaging the fake dating starts when they're 15/16, with deidara being added a couple years later, so they're not actively under kushina while it's happening but she's invested in checking in on them when she can. because she doesn't have a front row view of the budding "romance," i think kushina just kind of assumes.... tori and itachi realized they were both Like That in the same direction and that's why they seem like a weird couple to others. she's more skeptical of the "tori is itadei's beard" rumor because that seems.... wrong. but when she talks to deidara about it he gains the most pained expression in the universe and she's like "oh no" because ACTUALLY this is a WILD LOVE TRIANGLE---

anyway when they become vaguely official, she's happy for them! also she's told minato every single detail with the same excitement she relates bad movies she watches, sorry if that makes mission reports weird---

i don't think the village at large would be... super into it? and also confused. they already don't like tori not being a Perfect Girlfriend, and the beard rumor was very exciting for a few months, but itachi being gay (bi? why is tori still there?) ruins a lot of personal fantasies, because either you want to marry him, marry your cousin to him, indulge in the fantasy of what being married to him is like, or you're one of those dudes who idolizes other dudes and your dude-idol's sexual life being your own fantasy one is very important. also don't tell deidara or tori how obsessed with itachi the village is they know and they don't like it.

caveat to the above: i think there's a subset of konoha that's really, really interested in deidara's sex life because. uh. hands. so "what do you think he does in a threesome" is probably semi normal bar banter, sorry deidara

Although she can't really go from 🏈gf to gay without it being some crazy reveal of his acting prowess (interesting idea!) or something, she could go from 🏈gf to bi. I don't think she will ever come out publicly as a lesbian unless she really is planning to upend everything.

I agree with others that she probably won't come out until she's released the last two TVs, but it is 'safer' for her to come out while she has a bf so maybe that's why he's still around, skidmarks and all.

Recently, I have seen many ridiculous swiffer posts confidently explaining exactly what happened with Toe and how Taylor felt about it, and how TTPD will tell all. If the album actually makes it unequivocally clear she is not straight, you will be able to hear me laughing from here. The reveal they did not see coming - they broke up because she likes women too and he couldn't handle it. I wonder if that angle might get her some sympathy instead of pushing fans away. And would 🏈 then be celebrated as loving her for who she 'really' is or is that something that would be too much for his ego, I wonder?

I wish I could say I believe the majority of her fans are capable of understanding and accepting her as a not straight women in the year of our lord 2024, but I think the only way that plays out is if she herself isn’t ashamed anymore. If she came out loud and proud as “this is who I am take it or leave it” I truly think she’d have better outcomes with swifties than if she tip toes around it in secret for forever. When you are truly comfortable with yourself, you give people no other option but to follow suit—especially with her level of power over her fans

What it's like being with Harry as a bisexual women.

You told Harry you were bisexual about six months into dating and it's been the most liberating feeling ever since. Where before you were cautious about what you said around him so you didn't accidently out yourself, now you can share your thoughts freely.

Though you knew he'd support you, it's still a scary thing to come out to someone you love so dearly.

When you and Harry are watching a film together on his couch, you'll blurt out, "Fuck, her tits are nice." in reference to the actress on the screen.

Harry will try and act offended by replying with something like, "Hey..."

And you'll say back, "What? There's no denying her boobs are gorgeous."

Harry will laugh and retort, "Alright, her tits are very pretty but I'd rather not think about another woman's breasts will I have the best pair right beside me." Referring to your boobs that he loves so much.

He's also been the most supportive partner as well. At least in one part of every concert he'll find a way to hold up the bi flag. Of course he still holds up the rainbow flag which represents all labels under the queer umbrella, but just something about him holding the bisexual flag makes you so happy.

And his fans most likely know why he's so adamant about holding the bi flag because you have now mentioned publicly you're bisexual. Though some still speculate if it's Harry's way of giving clues to his own sexuality when he's stated himself he'd rather go unlabeled. Not really feeling either straight or gay or anything in between.

Not just on stage is he supportive though. This year he took you to your first pride parade. He never had a reason to go before dating you because his sexuality is quite complicated and it never seemed fitting enough to go. But now, you give him a reason to go. To go to a parade where all lgbtqia is welcome.

Harry dressed in more general rainbow clothes so no one got the wrong idea about his personal identity while you dressed in the bisexual colors. But he did wave the bisexual flag with you, up and down the streets at the pride parade in LA.

Not only do you share your attractiveness to beautiful women parts and have a very supportive boyfriend, you also talk about your past relationships. More so you though because Harry would rather forget all of his. Now that you're out to Harry, you share the differences you notice being in a relationship with a guy verses when you dated a women.

The biggest difference for you personally is being dominant with men and submissive with women. You don't know what it is but when your ex girlfriends would call you "baby girl" and push and tug you around during sex, you became mush. Now being with Harry, you have this urge to take control and watch him be all helpless during sex. Which Harry has no problem with because he's always been secretly submissive.

A non sexual difference you can spot is the way the bed smells after a nights sleep. When you shared a bed with your ex girlfriend, the bed would smell of flowers and her apple scented shampoo. With Harry, his bed in the mornings smells more musky and dare you say, manly. Both have their pros and cons but you will say the more manly scent turns you on easier.

Lastly, you try and act all confident in your bisexuality but reality is, you still have insecurities and fears. So you'll often ask Harry, "You promise you don't get scared I'll leave you for a women?"

And Harry will reply, "Why on earth would I need that fear? Is there somethin' I need to know?" That last part is said in a joking tone.

You'll shake your head no and then respond with, "No, it's just, people online keep saying you should be scared I'll leave you for a women and..... and I want you to know you don't have to worry. My attraction to women has nothing to do with my attraction and love for you. Straight people still know they like the opposite gender while being with the opposite gender so it's no different than me knowing I like the same gender while being with the opposite gender."

Harry leans down and whispers near your mouth, "I know, m'love. I know you love me and I've never doubted that for a second. I love that you embrace your sexuality and don't shy away from expressing your feelings when it correlates to your sexuality. Makes me love you even more if I'm honest." Then leans in an inch or two to fully connect his lips with yours.

Blue Castle chapter 24 and 25

Cissy is the daughter the Stirlings wish Valancy had been. Pretty, sweet, meek, innocent in the ways of the world, eager to please and quick to forgive. Someone who would do as she was told and look pretty in church without outshining Olive. And, of course, Cecilia Stirling would have had no need to go out to work, and thus never would have met her child's father.

I'm struck in particular by the juxtaposition of these two passages:

From chapter 24: " And I—didn’t know—some things. I didn’t—understand. Then his father came and took him away. And—after a little—I found out—"

Back in chapter 11: " Poor Mrs. Frederick was almost in a state of collapse. She had believed—or pretended to believe—that Valancy still supposed that children were found in parsley beds."

Cissy was raised by a single father who knows perfectly well how sex works, to the point where it likely doesn't even occur to him that people aren't just born knowing where babies come from. Her other main influence was her church community, made up of people who, one assumes, do not talk about these things publicly, and certainly not to Cissy Gay. It's implied that Cissy's mother, had she lived, would have (or at least should have) taught her these things. Clearly she never learned on her own, until it was too late.

Valancy, meanwhile, knows perfectly well where babies come from, to the point where she's embarrassed to even think about wanting them. Wanting to be a mother is perfectly respectable, even laudable for a woman in Valancy's position. Wanting the process of becoming a mother is most certainly not. It's not said where Valancy learned about sex and how it works, although my vote is from Olive, who has had boyfriends and been engaged.

So meek, innocent Cissy Gay might well have been better tolerated by the Stirlings than odd, never quite fitting in properly Valancy. (Cissy would, most likely, have been utterly crushed by the Stirlings in a way that Valancy never quite was. But then again, Olive wasn't. Maybe a Cecilia Stirling who was pretty and clearly had some marital prospects because of her looks would have been treated better by the extended family, if not Mrs. Fredrick and Cousin Stickles.) And, in contrast, Valancy might well have thrived as Abel Gay's daughter. Without discounting the impact of Abel's neglect, Valancy is clearly more outspoken than Cissy, and stronger willed. She grew up in a stifling and domineering society and the second she got out she not only knew her own mind but had no fear speaking it. If she'd been left to raise herself, I think it wouldn't have taken the promise of imminent death to set that part of her free.

I have AUs in my head now. Moving on...

Other thoughts about these chapters --

I did a little bit of research into the Canadian turn of the century education system back when we learned about Olive's engagements. She graduated from college at 18, and from what I could tell, it seems like College was for students roughly 15-18ish. So if that's correct and college is the word LMM uses to mean high school age students, with University being for 18+, then Cissy's young college student would have been a teenager. Probably 18 or 19 at oldest, possibly (likely?) younger.

And Cissy went to work at the hotel "4 years previously". At 25 or 26 at time of death (since she's three years younger than Valancy, who just turned 29), she would have been ~21 at time of boyfriend. So probably older than the boy.

Given that, it's likely that the boy was probably just as surprised and horrified by the pregnancy as Cissy was. I can't even be mad at him -- he screwed up and tried to make it right by offering to marry her and Cissy turned him down. Just a bad situation all around.

Even just reading about Cissy's funeral makes me furious. No wonder Valancy hated it ad Barney refused to go.

"her slanted eyes smudged with purple" -> Another purple mention. Is LMM subtly foreshadowing that Valancy has no intention of going back to her mother's house?

LGBTQ+ Representation in Ted Lasso (S3 Spoilers ahead)

After speculating for years, fans of Ted Lasso were finally given confirmation that three supporting characters identify as LGBTQ+. And although my dream of Ted and Trent never came to be, the show did portray groundbreaking representation in the characters Trent, Colin, and Keeley, (portrayed by James Lance, Billy Harris, and Juno Temple, respectively).

It may not seem impressive, but according to the website SportingNews, “Blackpool FC star Jake Daniels has taken the inspirational step of becoming the first male English professional footballer to publicly come out as gay in over two decades.” Daniels is currently the only out player in UK’s Premier League, but he is likely not the only one. PinkNews cites prevalent homophobia and advice to stay in the closet as common reasons players refrain from coming out. One manager even went as far as to tell a player, “‘I think it’s best for you not to come out until we get you a transfer or into a different club.’”

The image shown is Justin Fashanu, the first openly gay English football player. He came out in 1990, only to take his own life in 1998. Fashanu was posthumously inducted into the National Football Museum’s Hall of Fame in 2020.

Although the show doesn’t dive too deeply into the ingrained homophobia in the sport, Ted Lasso’s Colin Hughs portrays the difficult and impactful decision of coming out in professional football. No matter how fans feel about the Emmy award-winning show's third and final season, we can all agree that the LGBTQ+ representation is nothing short of revolutionary.

For a television show bold enough to tackle generational trauma, mental health, and sexuality; the topic of positive LGBT+ representation seemed to be forgotten. Despite my appreciation for the portrayals, I feel more could have been explored within Colin’s storyline. As crucial as Colin’s coming out is, I can’t help but groan at the idea of yet another coming out story. Audiences nowadays don’t need stories exclusively containing coming-out plots. We need stories of queer characters living and thriving in the world – an unfortunately tall order for studios today.

I cannot express how ecstatic I was when Keeley and her girlfriend, Jack, kissed. It is so refreshing to see Trent Crimm and Keeley Jones be unapologetically themselves in season three; Keeley meets her girlfriend and Trent Crimm confides in Colin about his own struggles coming to terms with his sexuality. However, I couldn’t help but wonder, how would the fictional LGBTQ+ Richmond fans feel about seeing an out Colin on the pitch? Would they feel the same pride as I do when I see Keeley kiss her girlfriend in public?

Colin is in a precarious situation as he considers coming out publicly. He’s not just a member of a team – he’s a public figure with people looking up to him. If he comes out to the world, he’ll be in the history books as the first openly gay football player in the premier league. And although that’s a big responsibility, someone has to be the first. I wish we could have seen that be Colin.

The series ends with Colin celebrating the Richmond win by kissing his secret boyfriend on the pitch in front of countless fans and cameras. It is heartwarming to watch. The only thing that would make it better is if the show could portray the importance of representation by showing the fans’ reactions. Did Colin have any fans talk to him after the game? Were they comforted by the fact that they are no longer alone in both loving football and fearing losing it to their sexuality?

Ted Lasso is a show about forgiving yourself for past mistakes and becoming the best version of yourself. But, it’s also about representation and how it only takes one person to change the entire culture of a place. Ted’s positive nature, patience, and willingness to be called a wanker by nearly everyone in the stadium, are what allow him to succeed in making Richmond a tight-knit club off the pitch and a killer adversary on it. Thanks to Doctor Sharon, Colin finally feels confident enough to become the strong LGBTQ+ role model he was always capable of being.

Perhaps we’ll see Colin step up as a role model in the hinted-at spin-off series. But, for now, we can sit back, relax, and enjoy the wonderful LGBTQ+ representation in Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso.

Tuft has made it clear she’s willing to lace her boots back up and re-debut — not as the “monster of a male” she says she once was, but as a trans athlete who loves her body." If he really wants to show he's not a "monster of a male" he would only go against oppents who went through male puberty. Or switch to the other wrestling company that does have TIM performers.

Former pro wrestler Gabbi Tuft says she wants to return to a WWE ring “very shortly” and face one of the company’s biggest stars, two years after publicly coming out as transgender.

Tuft, who underwent open-heart surgery in 2019, revealed to TV Insider she recently stepped between the ropes for the first time in over a decade while visiting a training school owned by industry veteran Dustin Rhodes (formerly known as Goldust). “Since I did that there has been a huge resurgence and feeling for what I love,” Tuft said, adding that she was actively seeking medical clearance to compete once more.

“I said to my doctor, ‘Hey, review my scans. Am I clear to go wrestle if I want?’” Tuft said. “I’m hoping to hear back from [them] this week to see if I’m a hundred percent clear. If that’s the case, very shortly I may resume training.”

In her original run with WWE from 2008 to 2012, Tuft wrestled under the moniker “Tyler Reks,” a troublemaking villain or “heel” who played a reliable foil to the company’s heroes. As Reks, Tuft faced off against numerous high-profile male stars of the era, some of whom are still active in WWE, like Kofi Kingston, The Usos, and (somehow) CM Punk. In her comments to TV Insider, Tuft praised one potential future opponent who’s rocketed to wrestling fame and Sapphic adoration over the past few years: Rhea Ripley.

Ripley, the current Women’s World Champion and resident leather-clad demoness of the “Judgement Day” team, has become a huge breakout star over the past few years, appealing especially to queer wrestling fans who dig black lipstick and shoulders. (It helps that calling her “mami” and/or “papi” is, according to WWE’s storytelling, canonically appropriate.) Ripley “is such a force in WWE. She is powerful,” Tufts told TV Insider. “To be honest, when I look at her and her athleticism and tenacity, I see a phenomenal opponent. A phenomenal match in the making.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Tuft praised fellow trans wrestlers Nyla Rose and Gisele Shaw, who perform in All Elite Wrestling and Impact Wrestling (soon to be rebranded TNA, again) respectively. “I love Nyla and Gisele [....] It’s incredible to see them part of the women’s division,” Tuft said, hinting she feels “like there is a spot there for WWE” to finally introduce an out trans wrestler.

“You haven’t seen it there yet. It’s raising questions as to why. Are they waiting for the right opportunity?” Tuft wondered. “It’s definitely a question in my mind. Maybe someday there is someone who can fill that hole very soon.”

Although WWE has yet to feature an openly trans or nonbinary wrestler on TV (and no, “Santina” and other comic-relief drag characters don’t count), the company has slowly opened its doors to queer authenticity, both in and out of the ring. WWE wrestler Steffanie “Tegan Nox” Newell came out as bisexual in 2020, followed by ring announcer Kayla Braxton the next year, while lesbian star Daria “Sonya DeVille” Berenato got engaged to her “ride or die” partner this February. (Kimberly “Piper Nevin” Benson made a coming-out post in 2019, but has since deleted it and hasn’t discussed her sexuality since.) And while WWE’s stories about gay relationships can get, uh, messy, Tuft is right to point out that the company could just hire a trans wrestler and let them wrestle, much as AEW has with Nyla Rose.

Whenever WWE is ready, Tuft has made it clear she’s willing to lace her boots back up and re-debut — not as the “monster of a male” she says she once was, but as a trans athlete who loves her body.

“[T]he day I stopped caring about what other people thought, was the day I truly became limitless,” Tuft wrote in her 2021 coming-out post. Alas, “limitless” is already taken as a wrestling catchphrase, but if Tuft does get cleared for an in-ring return, we’ll be first in line to get her merch regardless.

Hi, Ralph — I agree with your thoughts on the tattoo. I think the likeliest explanation is that they were in a relationship, as much as this doesn’t fit with who *I* thought Harry was; the whole situation seems just too risky and embarrassing to have strictly been PR. My question is — does this change your thoughts at all on Harry’s queerness? I know he can still he queer and have/have had relationships with women, but I think his perceived queerness and signaling has made the most sense *to me* (all a story I’m telling myself, I realize) if he is a closeted gay person. If he is indeed under the queer umbrella or bisexual, it seems like he could have said this without calling his past relationships into question or risking alienating his fan base by being perceived as totally unattainable. He doesn’t owe anyone any information or a coming out, I know this, but I guess it’s harder for me to see why he wouldn’t come out as queer or bi if his relationships with women have been real. I can already hear the “oh anon” but I really value your opinions and I know there’s something I’m not seeing. I’m also bisexual and queer, so this is a bias I have, and queerness is a connection I believed I had with Harry and his art, which is why I’m always wondering if we (using “we” to mean people who have historically thought he is queer) have gotten it wrong. And not that he can’t make queer art if he isn’t queer, I just wonder. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I think these are really interesting questions anon. I don't think I can say what impact this has on the way I think about Harry. Because I haven't really had a chance to find out yet. Nothing has really had a chance to settle. That's partly because I've been very busy, but also because I'll only really figure out how I think about things differently as they happen.

I absolutely agree with you about what I did think. I have always thought that there might be space for Harry to come out if he was bisexual - and given the meaning he gives to coming out - the fact that he didn't come out suggested that Harry might not be bisexual.

But there are lots of alternate explanations:

I might be wrong about their being space for Harry to come out as bisexual, or I might have a different risk assessment from his team.

He might be attracted to and sleep with men and women but the version of himself that would be palatable to an audience wouldn't feel true enough to be worth it for him.

I may be wrong about how Harry feels about coming out - he may have a much more 'fuck you I don't owe you anything' attitude towards the public

There may be something entirely unrelated to his fame that stops Harry from coming out - such as people in his personal life who are homophobic.

The way Harry has navigated queerness publicly does make most sense to me if he was a gay man. But there's so much I don't see - and what makes most sense to me isn't necessarily true.

I don't know if there's anything more that I can really say that might be useful, because I do think that I come from a different place from you. I wonder a lot if I'm wrong about a lot of things. I don't wonder if I'm wrong in my belief that Harry is attracted to and has sex with men. But even leaving aside that belief (I could be wrong - I have been wrong about far more important things than boyband members) - one thing I do feel certain of is that Harry's relationship with queerness is genuine. I don't think anyone who has watched him since before he waved his first pride flag can doubt that.

And I think that's perhaps a useful way of looking at it - identity, attraction and actions can all be very complicated. Rather than dive into the details a simpler question like - is queerness important to Harry? Is maybe easier.

It seems that there has been pretty much a positive response to this and I really hope gg and dd are able to see that so many people support them, even if they aren’t able to come out like Liu Cong and Chen Lu.

I'm not as excited about this as a lot of i-fans seem to be.

What is this all about?

The Anons are talking about social media influencer Chen Lv and former Produce 101 contestant Lui Cong (he competed in the final season of the show). They acted cute and joked around in a Douyin livestream together, and went on hot search for 'coming out' online.

There was some backlash for 'taking up public resources' (honestly, that whole concept is so 🙄 - digital 'resources' are pretty infinite), so they responded with a sort of apology where they seemed to reel in some of their behavior saying they 'didn't want to be over-interpreted'. 'They were just spending a birthday together'.

Chen Lv said, 'there is only one orientation of love, which is the direction of the heart' and Lui Cong said he 'hopes everyone can be happy every day and be brave to be themselves'.

I feel a bit wary, because there is some ambiguity to their relationship. They didn't actually say the words or actually directly come out, they just heavily hinted at it in a very playful way. There is some skepticism about whether their relationship is real or whether it's queerbaiting to make money (given that one of them is a social media influencer and the other is a former Produce 101 contestant).

Having seen the video for myself, I can't say that I get clear queer chemistry from them, so I can't be sure of what I'm seeing. They don't give off the sort of natural, effortless physicality of people who are genuinely a couple. They actually look a bit awkward, childish and forced, like a couple of straight guys pretending to be gay.

They did a lot of playing it up for the crowd, responding to commenters requests for them to kiss by giggling and leaning in for a kiss on the cheek, etc. To be honest, this sort of behavior doesn't look authentic to me and is part of what makes me skeptical. It has a very 'fan service' feel to it.

To be fair, that might be due to their shyness about being public for the first time. They're both very young, and it's entirely possible that they really are that shy. It could just be that they come across as a bit fake because they're shy and guarded.

If they are really a gay couple then it's brave of them to come out, but if they aren't a gay couple, then their 'coming out' isn't brave, it's manipulative. Since it's impossible to say for sure what's going on I am just going to reserve all judgment on it.

I know some people will be offended by that, but I don't know anything about these two. I didn't even know they existed until I saw people posting about it on Twitter. I have been around the block a few times, and I've seen queerness used in this way before.

Given the enormous popularity of KinnPorsche and the mountains of money everyone involved is raking in right now, I can't help but squint a bit at this 'coming out' story.

Of course if they are a couple then I wish them all the best, and I celebrate their bravery.

As for whether GG and DD have seen the story, that's fairly likely given the fact that it was trending on hot search. It's really impossible to guess what their thoughts on it might be. One thing I can say, is that GG and DD would probably have a much better read on these boys than I do. 😅

Correction!

However, one thing that a lot of people are getting wrong - this is not the first 'idol' couple to come out publicly in China. The couple with that distinction is Feng Xiaofei and Wang Jailing of SNH48 (short for Shanghai 48), an idol pageant group they were active in until 2020.

The two girls were suspected of possibly being together as far back as 2019 when fans began noticing very close interactions between them. As long as they were part of an idol group their contract would prevent them from coming out or being in a relationship.

They both left the group in 2020 and applied for grad school. When one of them was admitted to grad school they came out publicly about their relationship.
