[ID: fanart of julie powers and gideon graves from scott pilgrim takes off. julie smirks while holding a coffee, sitting on gideon’s evil lair chair. she’s speaking, but her speech bubbles are censored. beside her, gideon sits on a tv with his logo on it, also grinning evilly. small details referencing the show litter the space around them, including coins, sparks, and tnt /end ID]

still in bed 4am thoughts but damn the way marvel treats Julie Power makes me feel some kinda way as a bisexual person
like please stop making her some kind of stepping stone for other characters romantic endeavors or self-discovery or whatever, bi people are more than your “in between” half-way point relationship
i don’t think marvel is intentionally doing anything malicious but having Julie be this stepping stone relationship and unable to hold down a relationship of her own has become uncomfortable at best and borderline biphobic at worst
i really hope marvel stops doing her dirty soon and lets her have the relationship she deserves but honestly she doesn’t even need a relationship at all if it’s gonna be more of this sort of thing…
also there’s a screenshot of the gwenpool comic floating around where she’s like “I hope you find a relationship with a boy or girl or non-binary person but I really hope it’s with a girl!” to Julie and I get that gwen is just being a cringey fangirl in the moment and that Julie has thus far to my knowledge only dated women but yeah as a bi person seeing that panel definitely gave me the ick and made me not want to touch that comic with a ten foot pole…
edit: found the ick panel :/
overall I don’t think the issue is like intentional biphobia regarding Julie so much as just… not valuing her as a character at all. She exists to prop up other characters and help them develop more than she exists as her own character. The Power Pack aren’t exactly the most respected or cared about characters in Marvel and Julie is a facet of that … it’s just with her there are also some unfortunate implications with her being bi and being used as relationship development/fodder for other characters
i hope someday someone who really cares about Julie gets to write a story about her and gives her the love and care she deserves…
I’m going back to sleep. Maybe I’ll dream of Julie getting the comic she deserves
