if you feel like going into how r/s are utenanthy coded.. im v much listening

okay so sirius + anthy are both people who have proximity to power and privilege but are ultimately still subjugated/abused bc the power itself is inherently coercive and abusive (if you want to read more about power in rgu i'd recommended the palace perspective's essay the entire series if you haven't already read it). anthy is the rose bride which makes her exalted and revered and, most importantly, better than others (other girls, specifically). but she is still seen as an object and abused by the very same people who insist that she is better than other girls. sirius is a pureblood and heir to house of black and this makes him powerful and revered and, most importantly, better than others. but he is still abused by the very same people who insist he is better than others. also they are both people who abandoned their world and broke the cycle of abuse in favor of love and understanding.

remus + utena both exist and peripheral to the power but at the same time disruptive to the hierarchy. they don't have any power themselves and are in fact only tolerated on the assumption that eventually they can be controlled (utena's gendernoncomfomity and remus's lycanthropy are also treated as similarly dangerous. not literally, but hardly anything in rgu is literal). they're both completely unprecedented (utena as a girl who wants to be a prince, remus as the first werewolf at hogwarts). and they both gain a proximity to power bc of how unprecedented they are that eventually puts them in a position to bring about true change. utena succeeds, remus doesn't BUT remus doesn't succeed for reasons that are very similar to why utena's princehood was a false conception: the power structures are deeply entrenched, abuse and marginalization are encouraged by the power structures, trying to revolutionize from within these structures will always fail.

utenanthy and wolfstar are both relationships that are born from a complete lack of understanding due to the distance of their positions that eventually morphs into the deepest and truest understanding either of them have known (and importantly, utena and anthy still don't FULLY understand each other at the very end which is why utena can't save anthy but her refusal to stop trying is what gives anthy the will to walk away. i think it's important also that r and s don't fully understand each other but their refusal to stop trying is the most important thing). both relationships are about learning to love each other while simultaneously unlearning a lifetime of abuse and conditioning. wolfstar WOULD survive the fucked up gay repressed bed lmao bc imo the wolfstar thesis is that no barrier to their relationship mattered to them more than the genuine love and connection they felt for each other. AND also if i wanted to i could draw parallels between the prank + remus's forgiveness (in fanfiction. the prank isn't compelling to me in canon and also idc about canon) and anthy's manipulation + utena's forgiveness.

Imma be real w/u and say I think most people do that because it’s not Gay Enough whatever that means (especially funny pertaining to kriselle ksks) Common symptom of going outside abstinence syndrome

I think projection on fiction is normal to an extent especially in people who are traumatised or autists or have adhd or other mento illness which if we are honest is a decent chunk of the tumblr user base, simply by virtue of being more online due to feeling inadequate irl and (to a degree) its ok to use it to process your own feelings.

I don’t like peter enough to like, have actually created thoughts about him outside of my overall perception and how he treats other characters 😭 so im skipping him. BUT, for Jack-

-Overall opinion of them: light of my life he means everything to me. I know I say this for a lot of characters because a lot of characters mean everything to me but Jack does hold a very special place in my heart and that place is helping me accept liking men. His only flaw is being a 70s character because I keep forgetting how much I hate reading the word vomit of older comics and it’s one of the main things why I haven’t been able to finish ALL his appearances yet but godamn I will one day

– Gender/sexuality headcanons: GAY GAY HOMOSEXUAL GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I refuse to see Jack as anything but gay he is into men he loves men len kaminski didnt write jack not finding girls attractive anymore for people to think he wants a GIRLFRIEND. Also has trans man and leather gay swag

– Favorite moment in canon: there’s a lot of them but probably this entire like epilogue panel from Len Kaminski's “Children of the night” and especially the line “I am something unique and wonderful.” Snif snif okay gayboy!!!

people on tumblr are very accepting of mentally unhealthy and unacceptable behaviour, but very against very normal things...? even if its not normal or slightly morally incorrect, tumblr users will act up in protest...

apparently being homophobic/ not an ally of lgbt is extremely offensive, but when one has a romantic relationship with a fictional character and shows extreme parasocial behaviour, very overly protective of a completely FICTIONAL CHARACTER THAT THEY DONT EVEN OWN that is okay? and we should bring them up and support them?
