firstly i feel like when he first starts watching anime, he'd watch more action packed ones, but slowly got into romance after he found the anime you were in!!

i think if it was a romance anime that'd be really cute. though you wouldn't be the main character, but the main characters best friend or something so you don't have a love interest bc Bakugou would probably get jealous tee hee

also if he read fics about you, he'd def go for some classic fluff me thinks. or maybe like an enemies to lovers!! i think he'd like a little angst with it as well, bc he's an angsty boy

i think that he would read all about your character and rewatch clips of you on youtube, yk? idk thats what i do for characters i really like lolol.

some explanations/highlights below the cut!

emwayne = the best friends of rajbow getting together?? hell yeah (bowie and emma will always be best friends to me). wayne would help emma come into her growth while making sure she stays silly, I love them sm

I think the rest of the first-tier ships are pretty self-explanatory?? if you want me to (ramble) talk abt any of them lmk!

I thought of caleb/chase (calase? chaleb?) out of nowhere one bright sunny morning and they've been a concept in my head ever since. I find it funny that I hc the idea of caleb being this kitten lover who also works hard to get where he stands trying not to use his looks as an advantage, while chase is this laidback thrillseeker, pet-store destroyer, who would totally do stuff recklessly unlike caleb's more methodical approaches. it'd aggravate caleb so so much, like what if chase is the only person that he comes close to snapping at lmao I genuinely can talk abt them all day but I digress

ripaxel is actually interesting--I'm an axelle truther through and through but axel can be bi or pan or anything in between, y'know. plus their dynamic is kinda funny, like kickass girl x alpha-male wannabe

I adore rajbow, but bowie x caleb is one of the ships I ironically don't mind seeing on my dash; it's interesting to think abt how things would've gone if they'd gotten together

(speaking of which, raj x caleb was one of the ships on the list but I didn't add it, though it would've been interesting as well to imagine like rajbow would still be endgame but if caleb was raj's gay awakening without raj even realizing)

raynebow, admit it or not, would be an awesome dynamic. emwayne is on top for me, but these three would be pretty cool together, like rajbow already being a thing and then wayne coming into his own sexuality realization lmao for me, wayne is either the classic straight best friend or a bisexual mess, there's no in between

the concept of what's going on between priya and caleb currently is what I like more than the ship itself; I like the idea of priya having a crush (though her character derailment for it is a bit annoying smh) while caleb is just genuinely doing this for an alliance lmao (if caleb does grow feelings for priya in the process--which I don't doubt could happen, it's total drama after all, that'd be even funnier)

bowie & chase are the reluctant exasperated and annoyed sibling & feral sibling dynamic for me. like chase does smth stupid (not a hard thing to do) and bowie's genuinely stunned whenever it actually seems to work (I'm thinking abt ep1 of s2 here lmaoo)

bowie & emma weren't mentioned as one of the pairings, for obvious reasons, but them as besties fr and I really wanted them to rekindle their friendship 😔

mk using caleb to get ahead of the game in tiny details (climbing on his back, etc etc) is so fucking funny, they're on the platonic tier for me simply bc of that. and caleb would be so oblivious lmfaoo

waaay before when s1 hadn't come out and ppl speculated on priya & chase being the Main Couple (and then everything went to shit after), I've switched trains in regards to that; them as a platonic friends duo would be crazy. kickass girl who can do anything (except feelings) & dumbass guy who does stupid impulsive shit for thrills (and cannot do feelings); they'd both fumble at romance shit and rant abt it while making it seem like they have it under control, it'd be wack; she would hate him for doing stupid shit and making them lose challenges, he'd talk shit abt "taking risks" and whatnot, and she'd be like "I'll smash my water bottle over your head, that's a risk I want to take rn!!" fr priya would beat his ass (and maybe save his ass if they ever reach that point of their dynamic lmaoo)

LMK Characters: Would I Let Them Teach Me How To Drive?

Context: I am gonna be 17 years old this summer and I avoid driving like the plague but here are some characters that'd help me learn how to drive and characters that I don't think would be any help at all.

MK: 10/10

- Yes, I'd absolutely let this man teach me how to drive.

- He'd be paitient, he'd be optimistic, and he'd assure me that all the mistakes I'm making are minor and that with time I will become better.

- I'm begging for MK merch, like pls, a Keychain or something because I feel like it'd be easier to go through life knowing that I had his positive vibes.

- Just please don't use the staff, MK, I can barely control the car on the ground-

Mei: 10/10

- HELL YEAH, I TRUST HER.

- Mei would honestly be my first choice because we've seen her competence on screen when it comes to driving, yeah it may be a motorcycle, but I also feel like she's good with cars.

- Would encourage me to speed up (I'm like a grandma) and would yell at any asshole tailgating me or that would honk at me and tell me to forget them and to keep going.

- Like MK, she's very optimistic but MK would be too nice to give me feedback, I feel like she'd give me great tips on how to be better at driving.

- So yeah, I trust her with my life.

- Probably has road rage.

Red Son: 4/10

- Don't get me wrong, I love this man and I know for a fact he's a good driver.

- BUT THIS MAN'S ROAD RAGE IS SO TERRIFYING!? He'd yell at me for going to slow, he'd yell at people honking at me, overall, I'm terrified and so is everyone else on the road.

- Can be calm and a good mentor but idk, I just feel like he'd get easily frustrated with me because he's all: "THIS IS SO EASY, WHY CAN'T YOU SIMPLY-"

- We have to pull over because I'm crying too hard and he's pouting but does feel a little bad.

- I'm too sensitive so, yeah, I wouldn't let Red Son teach me.

Wukong: 6/10

- Would tell me to believe in myself and that I got this and that if other idiots can drive, I can too.

- Easy to say for someone that rides on a cloud.

- Would do dangerous shit like climbing out the car window WHILE I'M DRIVING to go to like a kwik trip we passed to get peach chips.

- He's very pretty and I would get too distracted looking at him😔

- I could literally drive off the road and he's all: "Yeah, that was good! You can work on a few things but not too bad!"

- Who allowed this man to give me a false sense of confidence??

Macaque: 8/10

- He piloted a whole plane, I think he has some experience with driving.

- Overall would be chill, does he make a few sarcastic comments that hurt my feelings? Probably but then he praises me and his voice gets really soft and that fuels me right up.

- Would probably take the wheel from me and try to run over Wukong if he just so happened to be walking nearby so that knocks him down a few points.

- He also is very pretty and I'd be too distracted by him.

- I have a strong goal to motivate me though if he's teaching me and its to drive him to therapy and then an ice cream shop later. I'd pay for both.

I think i sent you an ask a while ago but maybe tumblr ate it? Idk but anyways I wanted to know what you thought about New Rome/CJ in terms of like economics and resources. Do they grow and raise their own crops and livestock? Do they import it or is it magically provided? They use denarii, but is US cash also used? Do they have mints for denarii (and same question for chb and drachma) or does Olympus just have a fund for them? Where did they get all that marble from? Does the outside world acknowledge New Rome University? Do they have hospitals for non-magical surgeries and the like? Elementary schools? Are there trade schools or is it a master/apprentice system? Have they had to expand the city for population growth or has it been fairly steady bc it seems like CJ has a way lower mortality rate than CHB. Like, I just really want to know what their resource management and supply lines look like and I dont think it was really touched on in canon (like most things oops-). Thx for answering!

(Sorry for missing this! I've been in other headspaces lately but thank you so much for the ask!)

All of these are such vital and amazing questions, but the simple fact is that Riordan didn't think any of it through. 😔

Personally, I HIGHLY doubt that the city or camp can sustain itself. It's just not,,,feasible? I think it's probable (even canon? if my memory serves) that the city and camp do supply some of their own resources (I'm thinking especially grapes, maybe olives, etc.)! To handwave it as magic would be easiest, and the food at CJ's mess is magically provided (right?), but that can't be said for the whole city. That'd be ridiculous. This is a whole city, albeit a small one (?), so they have to be importing some -- if not a majority -- of their goods. It would make sense imo if they (to the outside world) ran a winery or other type of farm(s) and made money that way, to buy everything else they need. That said, there's surely some economic activity that's basically contained? Like, there are people who work with the outside world and bring goods in or get goods out, but others buy from those go-betweens and sell just to Romans (like chariots, etc.). Other, non-agricultural exports are probably common too, like idk artisans with Etsy accounts. Historical replica goods are a huge and lucrative market, and I can easily imagine NR capitalizing on that. I also don't think anything is stopping the average New Roman from driving a few miles to like, Target. I think they have groceries and the like in their community that are much more convenient, and I'm sure culturally their consumer habits are different than the American norm, but they probably are just going to the mall to buy stuff pretty often.

As for money,,,oh man. They HAVE to have a mint!!! A bank!!! WHERE else are the denarii coming from or being kept?! Maybe the coins are mainly in circulation within NR / CJ, which means they could be mostly old, but that's just not how economies work. They'd need to get gold and silver and mint new coins at some point. Which raises some fun questions like do they have their own imprints based on,,,what, year? Leadership? (The City Has To Have Its Own Leadership Structure Of Some Kind And You Can't Change My Mind btw.) Or is it standardized at this point? (Yawn.) I'd guess that you could probably use USD most places in New Rome, but not in camp? And people might still look at you funny. There are probably a decent number of places in the city to exchange currency though, if not just the main bank. Because, lest we forget the theme here, New Rome's community goes far beyond its borders! It is not Camp Half-Blood!

The marble! If we're talking about Temple Hill specifically, that's (mostly) as old as the city / camp, right? Maybe some of that was donated by the gods / obtained through mysterious means or brought from the previous Roman settlement somehow, but come on, the majority has to be imported!

NRU is a whole can of worms asdfghjkl. Which reminds me of when I thought about citizenship and like, I.D.s and addresses, etc.! To make this work even a little bit the way it seems to in the books, we're assuming that people born in / who live in NR DO legally exist in the United States. So. To me it would make sense that NR is maybe a mist-edited city? That way these people are U.S. citizens and can vote and pay taxes and all that, but the details of everything are obscured to outsiders? Maybe the U.S. postal service has a drop at the edge of the city and then they have an internal mail service? This whole deal is WILD and it's because, unlike CHB, these people LIVE here and are BORN here and WORK here and?! Driving me insane. If I'm assuming this about basic legal documents, I'm also assuming NRU transcripts and degrees (and any from primary education!!) ARE valid outside of NR, but the details are fuzzy to any outsider reading them lmao? And ofc NRU can't work with any other universities like most universities tend to, like in local / international partnerships? Actually it'd be pretty funny if NRU students can travel to other universities to do research or whatever on the "mist-documents and no one asks questions" principle, but students from outside can't do the same.

Again, I really feel like New Rome is a functioning city to an extent, so,,,yes to at least one hospital that is not the legion's -- though that isn't to say they don't use magic for "normal" illnesses or procedures, because why wouldn't they if they have that available? And yes at least one elementary, middle, and high school. (Aside: how many families / kids are we thinking actually live in NR?) I think it'd make sense for a LOT of the traditional, "Roman" jobs to be master / apprentice style, but there could be more modern trade education built into the high school or university? Catering towards more modern trades or for those who are seeking to live outside of the city.

Fantastic point re. the mortality rate and population btw! I feel like NR has definitely expanded since it was founded, but it has to have a limit on that expansion because it's surrounded by uh normie society. While the mortality rate seems low, we have to consider that not everyone stays in the city itself -- legacies aren't as at-risk for monster attacks, and so many of them probably have lives outside of NR and just send their kids to camp for their service and visit. It also seems like a stable number of kids serve, given the bunks and cohorts? So it's definitely possible that some families, after a certain point down the legacy line maybe, just don't send their kids? Or, alternatively, there are less OUTSIDE demigods / legacies that arrive than there are predictable legacies? Hm.

I guess my stance here (and it's been a while since I've read the books, so correct me if I'm blatantly wrong) is that the gods specifically DON'T help Camp Jupiter / New Rome out very much at all. It's almost a point of pride? Romans serve the gods, but they can handle themselves, thank you! New Rome is a project -- a community -- on a scale entirely unlike Camp Half-Blood, AND one ostensibly founded and maintained by PEOPLE, not the gods. It can't be handwaved as some strawberry farm summer camp, and Riordan didn't know how to handle that, nor was it particularly relevant to the books at any point. :/

To throw in one of my personal big thoughts here, I do think the Triumvirate have sooo much of a hand in all this. Maybe that's just one of my hc's to cope with the massive plot holes, but lmao. They HAVE the money, the connections, etc. Especially if they're Octavian's "family" that kept getting referenced as the most powerful, rich, and influential in NR? They're paying for the place. Through shell corporations and various legacy families, sure, but still.

I guess to wrap this up, as it is after 1AM for me and this is a lot (oof), I think Riordan did intend NR / CJ to be much more off the grid and self-contained. And that's really an unrealistic product of him styling it (in his mind) after CHB. CHB doesn't have to worry about birth certificates and voter registration and driver's licenses. CHB doesn't have to worry about sanitation or food or education. CHB doesn't have what I'd call a "population." CHB is a liminal, transitory space in the palm of the gods' hands. New Rome cannot be that, IS not that.

i also wanted to make mc way more complex than surface level. bcus there is no way they've got their head screwed on right if they're dating those two successfully 😭

the way apocalypse was mainly satoru n mc's pov, the first part of the wip is more sugu centric on how it is to be back and just how much self loathing comes into place i fear i took his characterization WAY too serious and polished it to be extremely raw and gut wrenching (i want u guys to cry im sorry) 🤭

this feels like lancer from fate who just always ends up dying in some way or another, no matter the route he's in. perhaps nikolay will meet a similar fate... cursed by the time gods to always be cucked by a yandere. there are few destinies worse than this. tbh the aspect of writing an OC for reader-inserts that takes the most time is giving them a name so like... this is actually tempting. i can write their entire personality/backstory no problem, but thinking of a name?? near impossible. why is it so universally difficult for everyone...?

PFFFF you know i was thinking of first contract zhongli right away as soon as a lot of the asks/comments related to nikolay. they can both mourn being ignored together or something. considering the stuff they do in their respective stories, it's not like they don't deserve it.

i remember your cascu being a doctor in a modernverse and i am very humbly holding up my own modernverse for this girl! i am especially eye-ing that bit with cascu and his daughter because 👀 definitely see some potential for parallels here! maybe he could interact with a modern hakuno... og human hakuno in particular 🤔 from her high school days up to years later when she's about to get cryopreserved maybe! cuz in my canon for her, her relationship with her own parents are good but distant (from her end! to give a quick summary here: because of her illness, she feels like a burden to them and thinks they'd be better off without her ^_T tho that's honestly the constant hakuno mood in any verse rlly--) so i feel like it might be interesting to see how that'd play out and contrast with cascu and his dilemma with his daughter..... it'd be really wholesome if they could help each other mend the bonds with their respective family members methinks!! but i am not opposed to an unsatisfying kind of an ending where they don't...
