Me, finding a book to read: This better have romance in it. I am NOT reading it if it doesn't have romance
Me, upon reading: What the hell is this romance? You're distracting the plot and it is unnecessary, GET OUT OF MY BOOK

mcr office au???
we know how it goes. i can write the a hell of a summary, but dont expect a full story. plus this idea is all over the place. my idea is that gerard works as an assassin type, and the organization he works for sends him out to take down the head-members of some company (idfk what i have a lot of holes, throw ideas at me if you want), eventually ending in the assassination of the CEO. there's our girl! shes evil, sorry. gerard is undercover as a normal worker, but after the first few deaths in the building, our CEO calls on him for an employee meeting or something idk how offices work. she explains that she knows whats going on, and blackmails him (with like. mikey? or frank and ray?) into working for her instead. she uses him to take down her competition in other companies, stuff like that. idk anything that would happen, but i have an idea for the ending. i feel like in the end gerard would be able to finally kill the CEO, but immediately after the office gets stormed by bodyguards and they GET his ass 😁

what are your thoughts on this take? at a first glance, this seems like a mostly american/chronically online view. if i deep it, it seems that younger people maybe think romantic relationships in media strip characters of their individuality and so they want less of it?

Super niche, but I just saw someone comment on something saying that they can't comprehend the fact that figure skating qualifies as a sport and as a figure it kind of just ticked me off? Of course the skaters seen on TV are really good at it and they make it look easy but the amount of work that goes into training that isn't seen in competition isn't as pretty as what's shown on the screen. There's a lot of off ice training for cardio and strength in the form of fitness classes and there's also the on ice cardio training which is running program parts in addition to the full run through. AND THEN, so it looks good, there's ballet, and on ice movement, and theatre on ice etc. etc. etc. which makes you THINK it's more of an artform but I've gotten so many bruises from falling that I don't think I can call it art, more like pain. Honestly figure skating is a dangerous sport, there's so many risks that can lead to injuries, I've a couple of friends who have gotten concussed from bad falls and I call myself very fortunate for not having gotten any bad injuries that cause me to take time off (knock on wood) but all of the gross stuff that happens out of the shiny costumes is what gives figure skating the right to call itself a sport.

both ad lib lovers and the summer hikaru died to something really interesting wherein they take typical genre conventions and set-ups of BL and place them into a genre other than romance, while still portraying the romantic undertones. where the summer hikaru died does this with horror, ad lib lovers does this with comedy.
as opposed to hikaru's focus on horror, in ad lib lovers, jealousy, desire, and a fear of inadequacy and loving someone more than they love you is portrayed through the lens of improv. this accurately depicts that having a crush on someone as an adult is humiliating.

the worst part about the godfather iii was the incest and the best part was how severely divorced Michael and Kay were. I wish they got into spy vs spy antics
heres the thing if yr gonna do incest you can at least NOT be lame about it the incest was serving ZERO cunt slay beyond the fact that andy garcia & sofia coppola were really hot in that movie outside of that it was just. wheres the DRAMA. wheres the NARRATIVE SIGNIFICANCE. 'wah wah wah you cant date him cause hes in the mob' BOOO its PATHETIC it just came off as awkward teen flirting with no plot relevance AT ALL!!! so i DID NAWT LIKE IT!!! but i DID like seeing michael MISERABLE & kay GETTING ON HIS FUCKING CASE. society if she killed him

has anyone ever written about how much the comedy of errors (shakespeare's first comedy and one of his earliest plays in general) has in common with the late romances, as far as tropes go? that play where the main plot was ripped from terence but then he added in a second pair of twins for more slapstick and extra complications? the really really silly one that for centuries many considered to be too low to be a proper "comedy" and instead was actually just a farce? that play where, like in the late romances, a family is seemingly lost and ripped apart forever for most of the play until the miraculous ending when everything comes back together again and the peace is restored? has anyone ever written a paper about that? because i think about it ALL the time

Summary:
Mika's just trying their best, starting over, taking some time to help clean up their grandparents' old farm and figure out what they wanna do with their life. But wow, that's way easier said than done. Turns out the farm is far larger and in much worse shape than they realized.
Maybe their life is, too.
A sleepless night drags them out of bed and into the quiet, pre-dawn streets of Starlet Town in search of direction, or answers, or something. What they find is a handsome, soft-spoken blacksmith willing, at least, to listen.
Maybe that'll be more than enough.
Whoops, okay, if you've been wondering what I've been up to lately, the answer is mostly playing Coral Island, and now also writing fic about Coral Island What can I say? I love this game and I love Rafael and I wanted to write some stuff about him and my farmer, so here they are, being cute and awkward and sweet imo 🥹 Thanks for reading 😌<3

Sometimes I am convinced that if I could just finish something (one of my comics or novels or animations or games or—) I could make something people would really connect with!

enemies to lovers is my least favourite trope and maybe part of that is because i was introduced to it by r*ylo and dr*rry and dr*mione who were enemies for very good reasons.

something I do like about lad gaiden so far is that the plot has been relatively well executed. Nothing has felt like an egregious ass pull or stupidly over complicated, even though a decent portion of the game involves running around a giant secret container ship with a golden Osaka castle and other eccentricities.
I feel like the writing breaks out of the typical framework in at least one case that I think is beneficial for the series moving forward. I haven’t finished the game though, so I’ll have to wait until then to really be able to look at the game as a whole.
