ok since @watch-me-stand-watch-me-run was the one who asked this is mostly for you but like
gather round the campfire, children
cw/tw violence, abuse, child abuse, might add more after
this is gonna be really really long lol hold on to your butts, brochachos
ok so his given name was micheal sauveterre, his family wasnt nobility, but they werent poor either. he was born in 1883, and is sixteen when the strike starts.
no word of a lie, i cannot for the life of me decide if i want him in the livesies or 92sies-verse, so i kind of just go back and forth in my head lol
so he grew up in a pretty well off family, but his parents were severly abusive. they would beat him and his brother, telling them they deserved it for being ungrateful. his older brother spencer was the favorite child, always got the special privileges. they both did well in school, until micheal was 12. his brother went off to a fancy college in virginia, and he was left alone with his parents. his dad tried to make nice by teaching micheal self defense and giving him a switchblade with his initials on it. one night, micheal snapped, finally having enough with his parents abuse, and ran away. he lived on the streets for a year, joined a circus that was in town as a acrobat and knife thrower, but didn't go with the circus when they left.
shortly after the circus, micheal was left starving on the streets again, and had to steal food to survive. snyder caught him, but micheal slipped away. in the chase, snyder grabbed him and gave him the scar on his face, taking him to the refuge for a few months after.
a manhattan newsie (havent decided who, maybe skittery or blink) saw him on the streets and offered him a job. manhattan was too close to where micheals parents lived, so he asked if there was anywhere else he could get a job.
the newsie told him about all the distribution gates for all the papers, and all the different boroughs. the leader of queens at the time (i didnt know who it actually was in the show so hes an oc ig too) Crush, was an ass and treated his boys like dirt, so micheal made his way over to queens.
crush refused to let micheal sleep in the lodging house at first, so he just hung around, watching. after a week or two of being there, he and the newsie who acted as queens' medic, Jade, came up with a plan to overthrow crush. long story short, crush found out, tried to shoot micheal in an alley, hit his side, and micheal walked out with a brand new pistol, not to mention title.
he hated his old name, so he changed it to Ezekiel, Eel for short. crowning himself the King of Queens, and a new era of ruling came along.
Tumblr media
sketch break lmao (i love this one sm)
ok so he became really close friends with manhattan newsies, despite being on the other side of the bridge from them. might have had a teeny tiny crush on spot, but once he saw race did too he immediately started trying to get sprace together lol
jack takes him to see medda, and she takes one look at him and goes "hmm, this boy needs a mother figure" and takes him under her wing. once she learns abt his time at the circus, she offers to let him be in some of her shows for some extra money.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he only wears the tutu outfit sometimes, mostly to make the guys laugh, but he likes the makeup and he really enjoys the stage, but would never leave queens fully, so medda's is mostly just for fun and when he needs to de-stress.
his second is named Shoe (another oc lmao) Shoe's real name is Harvey, but he only lets Eel call him that, and thats mostly only when hes in trouble lol
i dont have any sketches of shoe yet but i will i prommy<3
eel and shoe are dating<3 and the flushing lodging house's owner has basically adopted them. her name is Eden, shes italian, and she taught eel italian along with his french from his family, but they only speak it in private because people werent really accepting of 'foreign' things
Tumblr media
anyway if i remember anything else ill put it later
yeah! thats eel/zeke, i love him dearly<3

How do you think the story would have turned out if Aemond was a girl instead?
god… loads would be different.
Working with hotd canon, not F&B… would Aemond have ever lost his eye? I kinda doubt it. I think that would be the point at which the story would properly diverge. There wasn’t any enmity between Rhaenyra’s sons and Helaena, so would it be the same with Aemond if he were a girl? Probably not exactly since Aemond would still have that innate fierceness about him. But idk I don’t think Jace and Luke would have been so physical with Aemond as a girl. They maybe wouldn’t have known him as well, wouldn’t have those years of pushing each other around in training yard behind them, and they wouldn’t have seen him as as much of a threat (although he definitely would have been imo lmao). And who is Aemond if he never lost his eye? His whole story changes. The entire story changes. Even if the war still occurred in some fashion, which it probably would because a lot of the cards had already been laid/Otto and the council would still try to crown Aegon, Aemond might never have been sent to storm’s end (unless it was to offer Daeron’s hand in marriage ig). And he never would have had the personal vendetta against Luke that drove him to chase down and kill him. They might have even shared information that could subvert the war instead.
The fact remains that until Aemond lost his eye, Aegon was friendly enough with Rhaenyra’s sons, and Aemond clearly wanted to be friends with them. We saw that when he smiled at Jace at Laena’s funeral. I even venture to say they would have been friends, or at least Friendly, if Aemond had been a girl and there was none of the rivalry and bullying encouraged by Criston and Aegon at play. Rhaenyra and Visery’s actions after Aemond lost his eye are what made Aegon and Aemond ally themselves indefinitely with Alicent. So say Aemond still claims Vhagar, but doesn’t lose his eye, and In fact the physical altercation happens only really between Baela and Aemond, if at all, with Jace and Luke more likely trying to separate them than anything. Aemond never would have had a reason to mention the B word, Jace never pulls out his knife, and the incident becomes a footnote at best. I’m personally of the belief it was Alicent’s fear for her children’s safety, cemented by the moment she watched Rhaenyra ask for Aemond to be ‘sharply questioned’, that drove her to Choose to believe Viserys said he wanted Aegon crowned. So what happens if her fears remain unfounded? Would she have considered making peace with Rhaenyra earlier?
So many questions come to mind. Like… I’m not sure Rhaenyra would have even married Daemon. Would Rhaenyra have ever felt threatened enough to go to such lengths? Would the altercation between Daemon’s daughter and Alicent’s convince her not to? After all, why would she further incite Alicent’s disdain for no good reason by marrying a man who hates hightowers and whose daughter gave Alicent’s a black eye. And would Rhaenyra have been able convince Laenor to fake his own death, causing unimaginable pain to his parents who have just lost Laena, if he hadn’t been feeling awful guilt over not being there for his sons (when this time there would be nothing to be there For). Would Aegon have put up more of a fight being crowned, if he still had any affection for Jace and Luke? That one’s iffy but maybe. Would he have pitted Jace and Luke against each other in the training yard/dragonpit, in the absence of an Aemond to bully? Who would Rhaenyra be without Daemon’s anger to feed off? Would Rhaenyra have been closer with Aemond? With them being in some ways so similar and Aemond not a threat to her claim.
It’s worth noting that even after everything, in the canon we do have, Rhaenyra and Alicent stood on the precipice of peace together multiple times in the last couple of episodes. If Aemond had been a girl, and subsequently never lost his eye, Alicent and Rhaenyra would have probably been much better placed to consider peace an option; Luke would probably still be alive, Rhaenyra likely wouldn’t have had Daemon in her ear begging for war, she probably wouldn’t have had an unborn daughter to lose, Alicent wouldn’t have any evidence Rhaenyra was capable of hurting her children, and she would likely have been a lot more conflicted about Viserys’ last words.
I like to think with more time given for diplomacy, there wouldn’t have been a war, though I’m not sure what the terms of peace would have looked like. It would have still got messy, but at the very least it would have been a lot less devastating, and the riverlands probably would have come out the other end at lot less charred.

Hello! I’ve had this idea floating in my head since reading recent spoilers but sadly I don’t have the time to write it :(
A prompt I have is it’s after Wesley and Angela’s wedding, Tim’s gone back to his hotel room for the night then he hears a knock on the door. It’s Lucy on the other side. She’s holding a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of vodka and asks to be let in. ( ao that it’s a parallel to fallout and the first time they drank)
Then, there could be a conversations maybe a flashback to the reception when Tim gives a speech for Angela about love and connection and he was looking at Lucy when he was saying it. And it was that moment that allowed Lucy to really see Tim.
Which brings her to why she’s there.
I was also piecing this together while thinking about the IG live or interview ( can’t remember) and Titus asked Eric who would make the first move.
Anyways I love your writing and I hope this can spark inspiration. And the rookie finally comes back this Sunday which is awesome.
Not quite what you requested, but after such a long wait, it’s finally completed! Enjoy :)
Lucy Chen sighed as she walked up the pavestone path that was illuminated by the midnight moon. The past seventy-two hours had been grueling, leaving Lucy running on fumes. Though, the ache in her bones and the dragging of her feet never stopped her from stopping at her neighborhood ABC store or from driving ten minutes past her apartment and to his front door.
She knocked thrice, rocking back and forth on her heels as she waited for the door to open. A familiar bark could be heard coming from inside the four walls, Lucy smiling as she heard the animal being chastised.
“Hey.” Tim greeted as he pulled it back. “I thought you were heading home?”
Lucy shook her head, holding up the brown bag in her hand. “I know it’s late, but I don’t think I could sleep right now, even if I tried.”
“I know what you mean.” He told her, running a scuffed hand down his tired face. “Want to come in?”
“If that’s ok?” She asked with a grimace.
Tim took a step back, furthering opening the door as Kojo let out an excited bark at who was walking in. “There’s my favorite boy.” Lucy grinned as she crouched down in front of the dog, whispering lovingly towards the pet.
“Your boy is mad at me right now. I haven’t been able to take him on a walk the past few days, so we’ve been out in the backyard playing fetch to get his energy out.”
Hearing one of his favorite words, Kojo took off in a run through the house, navigating his body under and around furniture as he flew out the back door.
“It’s after midnight, and you two are playing catch.”
“And it seems as though he is not done yet.” Tim sighed as he trailed through the kitchen, stopping at a cupboard to grab two glasses out before walking out into the night. The stained deck was cast in a soft glow, courtesy of the light on the wall as they made their way back outside, and towards the patio table. A large citronella candle was lit and placed on top of the patio table, casting a yellow hue around the open space.
“Were they able to get Angela transferred to another room?” Lucy asked as she turned around a patio chair, placing the brown bag onto the table as she pulled out the contents.
Tim grabbed the bottle of single malt whiskey as she handed it over, breaking the plastic seal of the bottle as he poured himself a generous shot.
“Yeah, she wanted to leave but her doctor insisted on keeping her overnight to monitor the baby and give her some fluids.” He told her as he sat back down in the chair he had earlier vacated.
Lucy twisted the top off the clear bottle of tequila, Tim pushing the second glass across the table towards her. “That’s good, I know it’s not easy. Her recovery, it’s not going to be easy.” She said with a ragged sigh as she poured herself a shot in to the glass.
“She has a good support system.” He said throwing the tennis ball across the yard for Kojo as Lucy downed the shot, pouring another one as she sat down.
“Yeah well, sometimes you need more than that.” She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, watching as Kojo chased down the green ball. “I’m not saying I didn’t appreciate the support, I did. But when no one else has gone through what you endured, and are offering advice, sometimes you really just want to tell them to fuck off.”
Tim brought his glass to his lips, knocking the amber liquid back as it burned down his throat, Lucy pouring herself another shot as she let out a long sigh.
“And you don’t need to apologize because it’s not your fault. I just- you get so tired of the pitying looks and gossip behind your back.”
He refilled his glass with a smaller amount. “Angela’s going to need someone to talk to.”
“She has Wesley, you know who I had Tim? No one.” She confessed as she tossed the shot of the liquid back, sitting the glass down on to the table as she brought her left foot up, resting the heel of her foot on the chair as Kojo trotted to her side, dropping the tennis ball in her lap. “I’m sorry, that was a little blunt.”
“You had Jackson and Nolan. And what about Rachel, she was still here, you could have talked to her.”
Lucy vehemently shook her head as she grabbed the slobber covered ball, throwing it into the night. “That’s not what I’m talking about, those are all friendships. I’m talking about what you said earlier in the hospital, after Angela and Wesley exchanged vows, during your groom speech.”
“What are you talking about Chen?” He asked with a furrowed brow as she let out a frustrated sigh.
“I’m talking about connection, passion, compassion, someone who I could confide in. I wish I had someone that would have been there for me as more than a friend. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Jackson and owe him for everything he has done for me, but he’s just that Tim, my friend. But then on the other hand, I wouldn’t wish that on a partner for anything, the nightmares, the panic attacks, the therapy, the anxiety.” Kojo dropped the ball on to the wooden deck, laying down next to the ball with a tired sigh. “I’m sorry for throwing this all at you, I tend to forget that Jose makes me word vomit.”
“Lucy.” He sighed as he leaned back in his chair. “You know you can always talk to me.”
Lucy rested an arm against the leg that was propped at chest level, fidgeting in her chair. “Sometimes I feel like I can’t, because I- you’re more than a friend to me. You’re-you’re Tim.”
“What’s that supposed to mean Luce?” Tim asked in a hushed whisper.
“It means that you’re Tim. You didn’t treat me any different after everything that happened, but you treated me as an equal. You didn’t walk with me around the edges, you pushed me right over them. You have always been my number one supporter, even when I fell flat on my face.”
“My parents have not once, showed me their support since the words ‘I want to be a cop.’ came out of my mouth. But I tell you ‘I want to go undercover.’ And you push me and support my decision, even if you have a bad history with it. And that’s all I could ever ask for.”
The suppressed sounds of the midnight hour infiltrated the bubble that had been created as the weight of Lucy’s words hung above them, the sound of the bass vibrating in a car a block over, the crickets chirping from the flowerbed in front of the porch, Kojo letting out a heaving sigh as he drifted further off into dreamland.
Tim stood, his eyes raking over Lucy as he extended out a hand. “I believe I asked for you to save me a dance.”
Lucy huffed as she shook her head in disbelief. “And you want to cash in on it now? There’s no music.”
“Trust me?” He asked with a rare soft smile.
Lucy took hold of the outreached hand as he pulled her to her feet. “I don’t know…” She confessed in thought, biting her bottom lip before letting it go. “I’m not the most graceful of dancers, what if I step on your toes?”
“A couple of bruised toes won’t be the end of the world.” Tim told her as he pulled her body close. He cast her a questioning glance as she nodded, his right hand going to the small of her back as her left hand found purchase on his shoulder, their joined hands brought out to the side ever so slightly as they began to silently sway on the wooden deck.
A hum of a tune began to fill the silence as they moved, Lucy’s gaze finding his as they held each other’s stare.
“Thank you Lucy.” He whispered before continuing to quietly hum the song that was playing in his head.
Even in the dead if night, Tim could see the blush on her skin as her eyes gave him a curious look. “For what?”
“For being Lucy.” He subtly smiled, a grin that Lucy had only witnessed once or twice.
Words became fewer and far in-between as they danced under the stars, Lucy resting her head against his chest as they swayed. Things were far from ok, especially with La Fiedra in the wind, but for the moment, none of that mattered, for the moment they could just be Tim and Lucy.

MinYul (IZ*ONE) - He’ll Never Be You
Request: naur i just got some minyul feeels and had to get this out of my system yike
Word Count: 4,058
Warnings: there is none all is safe my friends
A/N: anything randomly in bold is their thoughts cuz,, idk minyul be having inner monologue moments ig
Tumblr media
“It was so romantic, Yul! He held my hand and gave me his jacket! I swear I think I might be in love with him!” Minju squealed, kicking her legs up from where she lay on Yuri’s bed. The younger girl sat beside her, deep in thought. What was the difference between her and Hwang Hyunjin? She always held Minju’s hand and gave Minju her jacket when she was cold. Why was it such a special thing when he did it? Yuri huffed.
“Yuri, you good?” Minju asked, turning her head to look at her best friend.
“Yeah, I’m fine dumbo. Just sick of hearing you sound like a lovesick puppy, that’s all.” Yuri joked, resorting to teasing in order to mask the pain in her chest; jealousy and sadness mixing together to leave harsh thoughts in the younger girl’s mind.
“Don’t worry Yul, no need to be jealous. I’m sure someone will ask you out soon.”
Yuri sighed. She sure was jealous, but it certainly wasn’t because she didn’t have anyone like Minju did. It was because Minju had someone that wasn’t her.
“Cheer up buttercup. Wanna watch a movie?” Minju asked cheerily, unable to detect any of the inner turmoil currently spiralling in Yuri’s mind. The older didn’t even wait for Yuri to reply, grabbing the younger girl’s laptop and opening netflix. Yuri could only sit and watch as Minju picked a cheesy rom-com before snuggling into Yuri’s side. An action that had happened thousands of times before was now making Yuri stiffen like a statue, afraid Minju would hear the thumping of her heart as she nestled into her neck.
‘Friendship gets a lot harder when feelings are involved’, Yuri thinks to herself.
-
Drip.
Drop.
Drip.
Drop.
Yuri’s eyes flitted over to the kitchen sink, taking a breath as the splashes of water could be heard falling from the spout, the only other noise in the room apart from the steady breathing and occasional page turn from the girl in front of her. She tried her best to let the water distract her, tried to get her mind to focus on anything other than her best friend in front of her.
But they just wouldn’t.
They just couldn’t.
Unfortunately for Yuri, some part of her just couldn’t bear to keep her eyes off Minju for more than a minute. Maybe it was the way her dark locks framed her face as she focused on her homework; maybe it was the way she chewed her lip in concentration; or maybe it was just everything about her that drove Yuri crazy. The younger girl sighed softly as her eyes raked over her friend once more, her unfinished homework a mere memory of the past as her mind became overwhelmed with the same thing it a;ways did these days - Kim Minju.
“You’re going to burn a hole through me soon if you don’t stop staring, Yul.”
Yuri jumped as her best friend finally broke the comfortable silence that had settled between the two of them. She cleared her throat abruptly, muttering out a small apology before looking back down at her half-written essay in an attempt to hide her now flushed cheeks behind her hair.
“I’m kidding, you dummy. What’s up? Are you stuck on your work or something?” Minju asked, leaning over the table to poke her friend on top of her head.
“U- Um no, I’m okay Min, don’t worry-”
“Yul it’s okay! Let me help.” The older girl said, moving around the kitchen table to sit right next to Yuri. The younger girl’s breath hitched at Minju’s closeness, doing her best to keep composed as Minju read over her page, leaning into her side to get a better look.
“Yuri, this is really good! I don’t understand what’s wrong.” Minju said, turning to look at her friend who was looking everywhere but back at her. Minju sighed before leaning onto the table, propping her head up on her hand as she tried to catch Yuri’s eye.
“Jo Yuri.”
“Uh, yeah?”
“What’s up with you lately? You’re not acting like the Yul I know, and it’s weirding me out. Is there anything you wanna talk about?” She said, her voice a bit softer now as she brushed a strand of hair behind Yuri’s ear. The smaller girl finally looked up at her, a sad look in her eye as she tried to speak to Minju, but the words just wouldn’t come.
Minju was right, and Yuri couldn’t deny it. She had stopped teasing the girl, stopped the skinship, just stopped being cuddly old Yuri around Minju. Yuri could tell that the older girl hated these changes and knew something was up, but she just couldn’t tell her. She would never be able to tell her that lately, her every thought, her every worry, her every concern.. It was all about Minju. While she had always loved Minju since they’d become best friends in primary school, it was a different kind of love these days.
Those brown eyes she used to look in were now galaxies that pulled Yuri in and the younger girl never wanted to look away.
Her vanilla scent that had always seemed just too sweet to Yuri was now a flavour she wanted to drown herself in.
The lips she used to smear ice cream on playfully to annoy the younger girl were now ones she wanted to kiss, over and over, and over again.
But, the fear.
The fear of losing years of friendship, memories, laughter, love… Yuri was way too afraid to say anything for fear she’d lose everything. Though it was hard being around the girl you love every day without being able to have her the way she really wanted, Yuri still kept quiet. She kept quiet around the only girl she was truly ever able to be her loud, bashful self around, and it was so obvious to the both of them that the balance in their friendship was majorly askew.
'Fear is truly a powerful thing when it wants to be', Yuri thinks to herself as she repeats the same excuse she’s given to Minju for the last few weeks.
“I can’t talk to you about this one, Min. But I’m alright, I promise.”
Minju nodded softly, a disheartened look on her face. Yuri's heart clenched in pain to see those eyes tinged with sadness, especially knowing it was because of her, but she just couldn't tell her. Not now, not when there was so much at stake.
The older girl sighed out once again, feeling dejected as she moved back to her own seat. Her mind was racing at a mile a minute, wondering what could be bothering Yuri so bad that she couldn't even tell Minju anything about it. The two had never kept secrets from one another before, so it truly hurt Minju to be iced out this way.
The girls worked in a now deeply uncomfortable silence, both of them stuck between an atmosphere of wanting to talk but also wanting to run away from the issue completely. It was clear to anyone that Yuri was the one who wanted to do most of the running.
Once the sun began to set, Yuri used an excuse of her mom calling her home, quickly packing her bag and darting out of the older girl's kitchen. This left Minju alone with her thoughts, which quickly began to spiral.
‘This isn't my Yul, something is seriously wrong here.
She's been iffy for a while now, but today was something more.
There had never been a second of awkwardness between us before, ever, but today...
It was almost hard to breathe, sitting in that horrible silence.
She can't tell me, but why?
The only reason Yuri would keep something from me is if it was about me...?
Is it about me?
Did I hurt Yul?
God. What did I do to make her so uneasy around me...?’
Minju shut her eyes tight in an attempt to block out her inner monologue, her head falling into her palms as she sat at the kitchen table. Yuri was her rock, her partner in crime, her... whatever! Yuri was someone she couldn't live without. The girl she relied so heavily upon was building a wall between them, one she had to break down before the last brick could be placed.
Minju could never last a day without Yuri, her Yul, by her side.
-
While Minju wallowed in her sorrows at home, Yuri fared no better. She said a quick hello to her parents, blurting out some excuse as to why she was skipping dinner and making a beeline for her room.
The young girl threw herself into her bed, letting her covers swallow her up, just as her emotions had been doing to her lately. She closed her eyes and desperately searched for sleep, but it never came.
Just as it had been for every night for the last few months, the same thing ran through her mind.
‘Minju,
Minju,
Minju.’
While she thought keeping her feelings to herself would keep their friendship afloat, it seemed that things were going downhill whether she spoke to Minju about it or not. Just why did these things have to be so complicated?
'Stupid Minju for being so stupidly irressistible', she thought.
Yuri huffed. Just why did Kim Minju think she could have so much power over her thoughts and emotions anyway? Stupid frog. Stupid Minju and her stupid charming smile, her stupid kissable lips, the stupid way she held Yuri's hand as they walked, the stupid way she cuddled closer to Yuri during sleepovers because she wasn't fond of the dark.
‘Stupid. It's all stupid’, Yuri thinks.
After going through a few more mental battles of anger and sadness, she finally found the sleep she had been chasing. So with one loud yawn and a flutter of her eyes closed, Yuri fell into dream land with only one thought remaining in her mind.
‘God, I'm so fucking in love.’
-
The next day went by, and both girls were left in radio silence. Minju felt the younger needed space, and Yuri didn't know what she was doing at all.
She spent her time mindlessly scrolling through Instagram on her bed, trying to keep her thoughts away from Minju. However, it truly was just her luck when the girl in question popped up on her feed. It was a picture posted by Hwang Hyunjin, and it was a selfie with Minju. She was pressed into his side, a wide smile on her face as he held her close to him. Yuri let her eyes drift down to the caption, her breath hitching as she saw the simple heart emoji on her screen. Her heart dwindled even further when she saw Minju's response; a matching heart emoji.
It was nothing out of the ordinary for the two, no sudden confession of love, but to Yuri, it just shattered her already torn heart once again.
A tear rolled down Yuri's cheek.
A bitter laugh fell from her lips as she pictured herself. 'Jo Yuri, crying over a fucking emoji?' What had become of her?.
She told herself that over and over again, but she knew it was more. It wasn't just an emoji, it was the fact that Hyunjin had a chance with Minju that Yuri could never even dream of having.
Hyunjin was just Minju's type. Tall, athletic, handsome - everything Yuri just about wasn't. She scoffed, cursing the boy in her head, wishing she hadn't seen it. Wishing these overbearing feelings would go away. Wishing Minju was by her side, holding her close and keeping her safe.
But wishing does nothing but remind people of what they don't have.
-
The weekend dragged by for both girls.
Minju spent most of it with Hyunjin, cuddling up and watching movies for hours on end. However, as happy as she thought she should be, it just didn’t feel that way for her. Hyunjin was lovely, he truly was, and he cared for her, he really did. But for Minju, it just didn’t feel right.
He just wasn’t Yuri.
He didn’t make her feel warm inside like Yuri did. He didn’t make her laugh by making fun of all the characters in the movies they watched like Yuri did. But Minju said nothing. Falling for anyone is scary, but falling deep for your best friend is even scarier. She never felt like Yuri would ever love her back so she did her best to move on and find comfort in others.
Hyunjin wasn’t Yuri. But if she couldn’t be with Yuri, then he was enough.
Just as it had for Minju, time also ticked despairingly slowly for Yuri who had spent the weekend without Minju for the first time in years.
By the time Monday rolled around, Yuri could barely drag herself out of bed for school. She haphazardly threw on her uniform while mentally preparing a plan for the day that would allow her to avoid Minju. She decided that if she can't be with her, she would have to distance herself. The pain of loving someone so close to you was more suffocating than anything Yuri had ever experienced before, she just couldn't take it.
However, Yuri's plan immediately went awry when she opened her front door and saw her best friend there waiting for her. Minju gave her a small smile, the gesture fading as Yuri didn't reciprocate it.
"Yul-"
"Come on, Min, we'll be late." Yuri said abruptly, speeding last the older girl. Yuri didn't want her to speak, hearing the soft tone in her voice only made her heart clench more for the brunette.
It took only a minute for Minju to catch up, the older girl stopping Yuri by grabbing her by the wrist.
"Yuri, we won't be late. Now will you cut the bullshit and just talk to me?" Minju said, her brows furrowing. Yuri looked away again, trying to find an escape from the situation. Minju grabbed the younger's cheeks, forcing her to look her in the eyes.
For a moment, Yuri's world stops. She almost forgets her predicament when Minju looks at her, her eyes holding a mixture of worry and sadness as she looks down at the younger of the two. In an ideal world, Yuri would have already kissed the pout off her face, pulling her back inside her home to skip school and spend the day wrapped in one another's arms.
But this isn't an ideal world.
"Yul, whatever's going on with you, we need to talk it out. You're my best friend! Who's gonna be there with me every step of the way if it isn't you?" She asked earnestly.
For some reason, the sadness in the pit of Yuri's stomach began to turn to anger at Minju’s words. She just couldn’t help it.
"I don't know. Hyunjin, maybe?" She asked, a coldness to her voice. Minju's hands dropped back down to her sides. Yuri already missed her warmth.
"What does Hyunjin have to do with anything Yuri? Why are you always like this when it comes to him..." Minju muttered, more to herself than anyone else.
"He has everything to do with this Minju. I'm like this because... because I don't like him. One fucking bit." Yuri continued, the anger bubbling up now. She knew she had no reason to get so pissed at Minju, or even Hyunjin, but sometimes, with love comes jealousy. Once that green monster rises up within her, Yuri finds it almost impossible to suppress it.
"Yul, he's really nice! He brought me on a lovely date this weekend, I'm sure you'd get along with him just fine! He-"
"Minju, don't you get it? Don't you get it at all?" Yuri's fists clenched with how hard she was trying to keep her tears in right now. Minju shook her head, fear gracing her features as she watched her best friend, the small girl now overcome with anger.
"I- I won't like your stupid boyfriend and I won't ever like him because-"
A hiccuped breath interrupted Yuri's words as a cause of the hot tears that were now streaming down her face, her balled fists not bothering to wipe them away.
"Because?" Minju pressed, needing answers.
But Yuri stayed silent.
"Yuri, jesus fucking christ will you just talk? Whatever you have to say can't be that bad-"
"Because I'm in love with you."
Minju froze.
‘She was what?’
"I'm in love with you Minju. I know you don't feel the same but I have to tell you because this weight, the fucking weight of being around you, being scared to touch you for fear I might fall even further, being scared to say too much in case I scare you away... it's too much for me Minju."
Yuri inhaled. She said it.
Minju was silent.
Yuri took it as a sign.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I let this come between us. I hope he treats you right." Yuri said finally, her tears falling even harder than before. She took one last look up at her best friend's face and wished desperately that she hadn't, because the look of shock there seemed to tell her everything she needed to know.
So she turned back to her house, trudging slowly as the consequences of her actions began to dawn on her.
With every step, she hoped, prayed, wished, for Minju to call her back, to hold her tight, to tell her everything would be okay. But she didn't.
So Yuri continued walking away.
Alone.
-
Two weeks had passed.
Yuri was lucky, with midterm rolling around she didn't have to make excuses to stay away from Minju or from school, locking herself up inside her bedroom for the two weeks.
As the days ticked by, Yuri tried to convince herself that this was right, and this was how life was going to be now. She didn't need Minju, she didn't need the pain or the heartbreak in her life.
‘But lying to yourself doesn't always work does it?’
It doesn't, Yuri thinks, as she spends another night staring at her phone. She waits and waits, willing for it to ring. She wants to hear her voice and her laugh, and talk to her about her worries. Minju had always been her safe place to go after something had gone wrong in life.
Where does Yuri go when Minju is the problem that went wrong?
(The phone never rings. Yuri doesn't get to hear her voice.)
-
There were two days of midterm left, and Yuri was dreading going back to school. She'd be obviously alone there, with no comfort of being able to pretend life doesn't exist inside the safe confines of her bedroom walls.
Yuri felt herself about to drift off into another countless nap, until her serenity was broken by a knock at her door. Her mom was there, a look of pity on her features.
"There's someone here for you."
Yuri nodded, heading down to the door. She stepped outside, looking down at her feet until she heard the sound of the other person clearing her throat.
"Yul,"
Followed by a sigh.
"Can you look at me, please?"
Yuri looked up, meeting eyes with the one girl she wanted to run a mile away from right now. Yuri couldn’t help but notice that she looked tired, and more worn out than she'd ever seen her before.
"We need to talk, huh?"
Yuri nodded, following Minju as she moved to sit on the steps of Yuri's porch. They sat in silence for a little while, until finally, Yuri spoke.
"Hi."
It was quiet, said in a voice small enough that would've been missed if Minju wasn't listening to the younger so intently.
"Hi, Yuri." She said with a soft chuckle, taking in the appearance of the younger girl. She had her hair in a messy bun, dressed in sweatpants and a baggy hoodie. Yuri looked straight ahead, feeling nervous as Minju surveyed her.
"You never let me speak, you know." Minju started, puzzling the younger girl.
"Huh?" She asked, turning to meet Minju who had a small smile on her features.
"Well, I know my Yul is dramatic but I didn't think it was this bad." She continued, chucking a small bit. Yuri wasn't impressed.
"Minju, if you've come here just to make fun of me, then you can go right back home." She said sternly, her brows only knitting further as Minju's chuckle turned into a laugh.
"Seriously, Yuri. You might be the stupidest person I've ever met. What kind of person confesses their love to someone then runs away from them before they can even reply?" She says, letting out a disbelieving laugh before scooting closer to Yuri.
"I... I don't know. You just looked shocked and I didn't want to be rejected by you so I just.. left."
"Yuri, what did I tell you about assuming things before they happen?" Minju said, her voice still teasing.
"What do you mean?" Yuri questioned, her eyes locking with Minju’s. She searched the other girl’s dark orbs for answers, but they revealed nothing, her features untelling of what the older girl was about to say next.
"I love you too, Yuri. You fucking idiot." Minju confessed, the end of her sentence turning to a whisper as she got lost in Yuri’s eyes. Just as the younger girl was about to speak up, Minju silenced her.
Closing the small gap between her face and Yuri’s, Minju couldn’t help but smile into the kiss as she heard her friend’s gasp of surprise before she began to kiss her back.
Minju’s stomach filled with butterflies. This was it, the feeling she was looking for. She never felt like this when she kissed Hyunjin, or anyone else. It was always Yuri.
It’ll always be Yuri, she thinks as she pulls away, admiring her best friend’s blushing features. They both stared at one another, neither wanting to be the one to break the serene silence that had enveloped them. It was Yuri who eventually spoke up, her eyes turning to crescents that made Minju’s heart race as she smiled.
"If being called a fucking idiot means I get to kiss you like that again, then don't ever call me anything else." Yuri said, half joking, half deadly serious. Minju couldn't help but start laughing at Yuri's dorkiness, the younger soon joining her. While they had spent so much time together over the years, not a single moment had ever made them feel as complete as they did now.
-
The two sat on Yuri’s front porch for the next few hours, watching the sunset as their hands were intertwined, Yuri's head resting softly on Minju's shoulder.
"I can't believe you were going to date Hwang Hyunjin instead of me." Yuri said, poking fun at Minju.
"Hey! How the hell was I ever supposed to know you liked me back? You have the emotional capacity of a pebble, there's no way I could've guessed!" Minju said, making the two of them break down into laughter.
"A pebble? That's so rude!"
"Yeah, you're right. I'm sure pebbles express their emotions much better than you do." Minju replied, a teasing lilt to her voice.
You're so annoying. You frog." Yuri said, her actions betraying her words as she nestled closer into Minju's side.
"A frog, maybe. But your frog at least." The older girl replied, pressing a small kiss to the crown of her head, smiling.
"Mm. My frog. My stupid, annoying, beautiful, frog." Yuri said finally, pressing a soft kiss to Minju's neck before closing her eyes and letting herself fall asleep against Minju, the fading sun still keeping her warm as the evening passed by.
Minju took a deep breath as she appreciated her surroundings. She had the girl of her dreams cuddled into her, a beautiful sunset in front of her, and a powerful feeling of warmth and love in her chest that she had never felt before. Her thoughts returned to the girl tucked into her side as she too began to close her eyes, letting her mind wander as she allowed herself to drift off into a peaceful sleep.
‘Jo Yuri.
Stupid Jo Yuri.
My Jo Yuri.’

Hey, I just wanted to say I absolutely loved your Batman isn’t a real person fic 😀. I was wondering if you would ever write anything more for that? Maybe a scene or him and dick?
Thank you! For the support and additionally this was a good suggestion, I’d been having trouble with the fact that the natural next scene to write proved to be ‘Dick leaves home’ for like, symmetricality reasons ig, and this was leaving me feeling the need to do way too much exposition to fill in the last 10 years of developments and it was really obnoxious.
But the process of explaining this and my plans and my WIP disease and so on to you really unstuck things! So here’s that scene you proposed. :D
Robin flew.
He’d kept in condition for four years with no audience, no ring. A net he’d got by terrifying Alfred enough times. A catcher, he’d gotten by jumping and knowing Batman would be there, until Batman stopped expecting any different.
But even the deepest part of the caves that riddled the bluffs beneath the house didn’t measure up to this.
The one light that he wore on his explorations flickering wildly over stalactites and stony walls and startled streams of bats, as he spun down through the dark until it rose up to embrace him in dark wings was an amazing sight, beauty and privilege, but he’d been born for footlight and spotlight. The distant glittering of Gotham spread out underfoot was so much closer to where he belonged.
He made the landing clean, boots connecting with rooftop ever so gently and his knees absorbing the force by folding until his hand in its bright glove touched, too, just as he ran out of momentum. “See?” he said. Stood up, so he could see the lights, and rolled his shoulders back as if shaking out a set of feathers he had never had.
“I do.” There was reserve in the voice that spoke out of the shadow of the skyscraper’s massive lightning rod, but Dick ignored that. His point was made.
“It’s going to be fine,” he said.
The red light at the top of the spire blinked on, a warning to any oncoming aircraft that the building went up further than it seemed, and Batman let the redness wash the dark away around him, and stood visible on two feet, and walked out onto the top of the second-highest building in Gotham to take in the lights that painted out the city below from Robin’s side, the end of his cape dragging softly along the rooftop and settling in a loose loop around the two of them. “I hope so,” he said.
Dick nudged Batman’s side with his shoulder. It had more give than it should have, even allowing for someone who wasn’t all bones like Alfred, the human person he had most occasion to touch, but there was warmth. He was pretty sure Batman did that on purpose for him, to give better hugs. Saying anything would only make him self-conscious about it, so Dick hadn’t. It was nice. “Hey. You know you’re happy to have my help.”
He did help, even if keeping him safe was a distraction. Even Batman could only be in one place at a time, Robin gave a second angle, another set of blows. And there was power in having him close by.
“But I worry.”
Robin sighed a little. “I know, Batman.” Losing his boy had hurt Batman like losing his parents had hurt Dick. He wouldn’t do that to him again. But he couldn’t stay home doing nothing just to comfort him, either. You could die all kinds of ways. Car accidents. Robberies. Murder. Slipping in the bath. If you never took any risks and then died anyway, what had you gained?
He stared out across the city, to where the Police Headquarters was painting the underside of the smog in gold. “Look, Batman!” he pointed. “Your spotlight’s shining.”
Batman followed his pointing, neck twisting a little further than it should have been able to, and growled exasperation in a voice like distant motors. “And I suppose you want to come with.”
Dick laughed. “That was kind of the point, wasn’t it?”
“No, that was your leverage.” Batman still sounded annoyed about it. But it wasn’t like he was threatening to go out on his own just to make Batman let him come with. He’d stayed home this long even though he didn’t want to because Batman worried.
The ends of the cape curled in closer around Robin’s feet, not quite touching. Dick buried his fingers in it, and tipped the side of his head into the soft warmth of Batman’s side. “Aw, come on, don’t be like that.”
“Jim knows now I’m not what I pretended to be,” Batman told him. “Barbara has told him everything she learned.”
Dick was still angry with her for that, enough to outweigh even his gratitude to her for cracking open the door he’d wedged himself through, with her adventures as Batgirl. Being disappointed Batman wasn’t just some guy in a costume who could pass on his techniques if you impressed him enough made sense, but her rejection had hurt his best friend. Batman wasn’t any less of a hero because he wasn’t human.
She’d seemed contrite after he gave her a piece of his mind, told her she was just as bad as the bigots who didn’t trust Superman on account of him being from space, but she’d still ratted Batman out to her dad even after that. So he was still holding it against her.
“You said he was okay with it.”
“Mm. It’s still a bit too early to give him anything new to chew on.”
And a middle school student in spangles following him across the dark of the city might be a lot to chew. If Gordon didn’t lay eyes on him, it might take him a while to realize Dick was human, and thus his business. “So I should stay here?”
“Yes. Stay here. And if you need me…” Batman glanced back out of the shadow even as he began to melt into it, the long folds of his cape drawing reluctantly away. “Call.”
“I’m staying right here, what kind of trouble could I possibly get into?”
White eyes made a circuit of the rooftop with only the vaguest silhouette of a head around them. The red light blinked on again, but did nothing to chase the dark away. “You could fall.”
“Me? Never.” Dick grinned, and refrained from going into a handstand to prove his balance. The wind did gust pretty hard sometimes, at this height; he wouldn’t reassure Batman by not maintaining a solid footing.
All the same. A Grayson wasn’t going to fall. Not without somebody pushing.

Since we're sharing stuff about birds for the 101, have you seen the video "Cockatoo finding out he is going to the vet" where the terrified, angry muttering sounds downright demonic? Imagine a bug spreading to all the Yoditos and when Din even thinks about going to the doctor the Razor Crest becomes the chorus from Hell (... more so than usual).
I’m the sole person on the internet who doesn’t watch a lot of animal videos, so...  But I looked it up for anyone else who’s curious.
Oh my god that would be awful.  Din has to like, literally round them up into carriers because otherwise they flee like stereotypical cats-going-to-the-vet.  He didn’t even know he had that many hidey-holes in the Razor Crest and how did you get in that ceiling compartment anyway???  (It takes him, Cara, and a bucket of those godawful sugary frog gummies he swore he was never going to let them eat because he is not gonna be that parent, goddammit, his kids will have yai’yai* food!  Hera gave him the gummies and a knowing “mmhmm” when he told her that.)
The entire time they are making THE worst hell-noise he has ever heard.  Even Cara, who has heard the screams of her dying teammates, is more than a little unnerved.  (IG-11 asks when Din started using soothing music to lull the children to sleep, what a nice idea, he will add it into his programming.)  Winta and the other village children think it’s hilarious and imitate it immediately, even into school the next day.  Din is once again in trouble with the Sorgan PTA (mainly because OG Yodito threw in some choice curse words) but his grudge match with the local Karen is less important than his sick children!
Then he has to find a doctor he can actually trust AND who has the patience to deal with up to 101 kids who have trauma tied to the whole “part of an experiment, extreme Do Not Want reaction to people in white coats with needles.”  Kuiil calmly comments that perhaps a bit of rest would do wonders, but Din has already descended into Full Parental Panic Mode and will not be dissuaded.  In the end the local medic from the main town is summoned.  Between dealing with 101 tiny green beans making the most ungodly noise she has ever heard (it’s like frogs and space crickets in the forest at night, but if that forest was on Korriban) and their very worried and trigger-happy protective father, she has a time (especially when the solution is, of course, just rest and make sure they have plenty of fluids, maybe spread them out so they’re not crammed on that tiny ship, what the hell).  She considers it worth it - the Mando paid well, she has a great story to share in the local cantina, and after no less than 26 of the Yoditos told her to “fuck off" she got all the free spotchka she could drink from the village.
Omera promised her that free spotchka arrangement would be permanent when the poor medic had to come back and tell Din that he caught it, and yes he has to rest, and yes that means he has to stop chasing the children until he’s better, and no giving me the helmet glare will not change my mind, I can hear you sniffling under there, please tell me you sanitize that thing.
*yai’yai = “*richly nourishing* - peculiarly Mandalorian description of dense, high-calorie food, of great importance to people dependent on highly portable field rations” according to mandoa.org.  I just really liked the idea of Din being the Mandalorian equivalent of those organic-only parents

Christian Yu: Just Let Me
Tumblr media
x CHRISTIAN YU x
A/N: Since I’m still struggling with some things before the start of MISADEGALIO, here’s some quick scenario from our very hard working man. who’ve been inspiring us up to now.. I featured some AOMG and others for name reference. Hope Y'all like it! Advance Merry Christmas.
Word Count: 4,524
"Y/N?" your mom called you from behind you.
"Uhmm?" you looked at her from the mirror in front of you since you're nearly done with your finishing touches on your makeup.
"Are you sure you're not going to a date? You know it's fine, right?" she teased you.
"Mom, please," you smirked as you tried to fix your hair. "I told you I'll attend our small class reunion from my high school, it's just a gathering thing they organize before Christmas." you remind her again.
You don't know if either she already has Alzheimer's or she just wants to nag you every single time she see's you all dress up - since you're not that fan of dressing up fancy - she always thought that you're either out on a date or already dating someone she didn't know about.
It was not a secret that she wants you to be in a relationship and be married sooner than later. She keeps nagging you since what? Three years ago? Oh yeah, it was right after you graduated Med School.
While studying, she was like a hawk eyes focus on all the guys who are attempting to get close to you and she will immediately build a mental wall from me. You understand her, she wants you to focus on your studies and get rid of all unnecessary distraction.
But that flips 360 when you got your diploma and all. And when you start working as a resident to your local hospital, she always all friendly with all your colleague when she had the chance.
So since that, you keep on telling her that you're still young and too early for marriage. But you said that two years ago since you're still adapting the environment from work. Now that you've been there for awhile, you had the tendency to get bored on your daily routine and just wished for a boyfriend to just pop out that will help you get your boring life all fired up.
"From your high school? Oh, maybe Mrs. Yu's son will be there, he's from your class back then right?"
Just hearing that last name made you stop for a second. But when you notice that your mom is waiting for your answer, you just shrugged it off.
"I doubt that Mom, I've never seen him since for the last five or four years now. I'm impressed that you still remember him and his mother."
"How can I forget that little kid who keeps following you home every single day from school. He was like your own bodyguard even tho you're much bigger than him if my memory is correct."
You laugh when you remember those good old days, it was true that you are you're quite taller than him at that time. Remembering that and that last time you've seen him made you blushed.
"Well, that's the good old days. He wasn't ever here in Australia anymore." you told her.
She was about to say something but got interrupted.
You and your mom heard a car honking outside your house.
"Oh, that's must be Hoody to pick me up. I gotta go." you kissed your mom on the cheek and went outside and get on Hoody's car.
"I swear, I have no idea at all. My mind went all blank ~ I can't even remember what happens next. I thought I'm gonna past out." Hoody said as she tells the details of what happened on the night Chase propose to her. "To be honest I didn't expect it - especially from him, right?" she looked at you for reaction.
"You're hell right about that girl," Jessi response. "all I thought you're drunk that night when you send that voice message on our group chat. But when Chase posted that pics on his IG ~ damn girl, you'll be Mrs. Malone!" she laughs with a mixture of teasing Hoody.
That made you laugh as well. You really enjoy their company ~ you have lots of set of friends from different aspects on your life ~ but for you, there's nothing come close on how you get all crazy and great when you're with this bunch.
"Well for me, it was the other way around," Jay said in between all the laughs. "I thought Chacha is the one who is so drunk to even think of doing that!" and with that, all of you let out a loud laugh.
Hoody on the other hand just pouts in silence even tho she finds it crazy as well. She just drops deadly glares at Jessi and Jay. "The two of you are so mean! And why am I'm the one being picked on when I'm the one getting married here and there's still one of us here are still single. Right Y/N?"
You caught off guard on what Hoody said and now all eyes are on you. 'Shit.'
"Me?" you said, "Are you serious, why me?"
"Don't give me that look Y/N, you know you're my best friend and all ~ but have you forgotten the goal we set for our graduation?" Hoody said as a playful smile form on her lips.
You sighed when you remember what she was talking about.
"It's not as if I don't want to have a boyfriend and be engage like you. It's just that I can't find a time for it." you lied.
"Can't find a time?" Hoody and Jessi said at the same time.
"Okay," Hoody continue. "On your first year, remember that guy you mentioned me that you met on one of your subjects? What's his name again?"
  "Hoo--"
"Matthew ~ that was his name and you pined over him for almost a year. It was later on you knew he was a total douchebag who just wants you to make his term paper for him. And you just let him until someone tell me about it and bit that guy up."
You just rolled your eyes on how exaggerated she made it sounds.
"There's that time as well," Jessi butt in. "Remember when we all went to Gold Coast, that was three years ago I think. His name was J.Seph and --"
"Let's just drop it," you cut her when you can tell that your face is all flustered with all of this.
"No," Hoody said. "as what Jess is saying, that J.Seph guy, you pretend that you can't swim--"
"You know it was you who made me pretend because I loose from our bet." you tried to defend yourself.
"--swim and made him teach you just to have an alone time with him but you backed out in midway, and you let some other girls get pass thru you."
"He's a freakin lifeguard Hoody, he isn't a swim instructor! I can tell that I'm a better swimmer than him ~ God!"
"And who else?" Hoody continue not minding what you just said. "Oh yeah, Taecyeon! From your law department at your university - that you start avoiding when you thought he was just using you to get with your co-attendant but in the end, you're the one he wants."
You gave up. You massage your temple.
  "Past is past! Forpetessake!"
"My point is you have all the time and the guys at the same time to be your proper boyfriend, but nooooooo ~ you still chose to let yourself be distracted for a reason." Hoody said as if she was your teaching you what's one plus one is.
  You can't help but laugh.
"What now? I am trying to distract myself? For what reason?"
"From Christian Yu." Hoody and some of the guys in the group you heard whispered.
All of them including you went silent after hearing that name. As if the guy mentioned will just appear once you say his name aloud.
Well, the closeness you and Christian back in the days are no secret to them, hell - all of you stayed in one section since the first year till graduation of your high school days. And all of them can tell back then that Christian treats you differently.
You remember that on your last homecoming before graduation, he even had the courage to ask your parents permission to be your escort. Since your parents see no harm to him - well that's because he was so thin and all back then - they let him, and he was your first and last homecoming partner.
But scratch that, the Christian Yu you knew back then is not the Christian Yu at the present.
"C'mon Y/N, it's been what? Six - Five years?" Jay said breaking the silence. "Don't tell us you still hadn't get over with your first kiss?"
Oh, how you wish you can kill Jay with your glares at that very moment. But you just sighed and massage your temple for more patience.
"Who in the right mind told you that I haven't get over that jerk? And who do you think he is? Did you all think that I was still head over heels for that guy even now that he has his own company and went to my dream place - Santorini?"
Silence. All eyes on you with all of them have that knowing look.
  "What?" you asked.
"We thought you're not keeping tabs on him, so how come you know about his company and that he went to Santorini since it was just last month when he went there?" Hoody said, she doesn't seem to ask, she was accusing you.
That realization made you shut up and swallowed hard.
  "TV?" at least you tried.
That made them chuckled. And when you looked at Hoody, that playful smile is plastered in her not so innocent face.
"What the heck are you thinking?" you asked her when she starts nodding without saying anything and just smiling like a devil.
You looked at Jay and Jessi who seems have the same look as Hoody.
"Nothing!!" Hoody said as she defends her arms when you about to pinch her.
"That look doesn't seem nothing at all. I tell you guys, whatever y'all plotting, just cut it."
"Fine." Hoody said as she rolled her eyes. "By the way are you free this coming Friday?" somehow you calm your nerves when she changes the topic.
"I can make some arrangements, why?"
"Just make yourself available that day," she said and smiled.
You can feel your soul leaving your body as you saw a too familiar man who just entered the cafe you and Hoody are in. You immediately faced her since she's facing the other way to the entrance.
"Don't tell me the one you're meeting was Christian?!"
"Why did he arrive?" she said with all smile and turn around while just ignoring the fact that your face is as white as the tissue on the table.
Hoody held up her hand to caught Christian's attention as he was roaming the cafe. When Christian saw Hoody he smiled as he removed his shades then he signals that he will just order his coffee.
Now you understand why Hoody is being persistent to make you a dress up rather than your casual wear and even made you put a bit of makeup. And she even made your seat on the end of the table across her.
She knew that once I knew that the one we will meet was Christian, I won't come with her and I will grab all the chance to slip away from this. But since Christian will be sitting beside me, that making me corner since I need to make him move first before I can even go. She really planned this all.
You're about to grab your shoulder bag when Hoody knew what you're thinking.
  "Just relax Y/N."
"Relax? How can I relax when you don't even mention me that he's the one we're going to meet?"
"I mention him on our way here, I just didn't mention his name thinking that you've already got it." she tease you because true enough she mentioned something like describing sounds like Christian but you failed to focus on what she was saying because you're on the phone with your co-attendant discussing how she perform some surgery that lasted 10hours last night.
"Look Y/N, you're reacting. Don't you think it's about time to test yourself on what you truly feel towards him till now? Aren't you tired of half feelings you're giving yourself since he left? And don't even argue with this because you knew what I mean. I'm your best friend Y/N, and the others feel the same. We all want to help you to understand what you really feel." she said as she copped her hands to yours.
  "Hi, there ladies!"
You didn't even notice that he was already standing behind Hoody. He placed his seems hot cup coffee on the table as he returns the hug from Hoody who stand up just to greet him.
For you, just to not make it awkward and doesn't seem being salty and all, you stand up as well to greet him. But unlike Hoody, you just settled to a half hug and give him a smile that you wished he didn't notice how forceful it was.
So far the ‘catching up’ topic is going smoothly, you are really amazed at how Hoody manipulate the conversation the whole time. Mostly you just listened to them and just say Yes or No to a comment.
You sip on your coffee as you looked at your wristwatch.
Christian that was sitting on your left side seems to notice that you're totally quite, different on how he remembered you hence you're always the talkative one.
"Do you have another place to be?" he can't help but asked while Hoody was still talking.
"A-ah me?" you were caught off guard with his sudden question.
"No she's totally free today, but me on the other hand," Hoody said as she looked at her own watch. "I think I'll head first, I almost forgot that I promised to bring lunch for the gang." and with that, she grabs her bag and walked outside.
'Great! Just great... now what?!' you thought to yourself as you tried to focus on the coffee you're drinking.
You heard Christian cleared his throat that made you looked at him.
"So," he started, still unsure what to say to you. "it's been really a long time hasn't it." then he looked at you.
You can't take his stare so you diverted your gaze and just nods to his question.
"Well I hope nothing has changed --"
"What do you mean?" you cut him, you can see on your peripheral vision he was looking at you and you just can't take to deal with that.
"I mean, you're still the same, the same Y/N I knew..."
"Too bad, I don't feel the same way." you can't believe that you manage to pull out your Medusa attitude towards Christian, 'I guess being around jerks made you better with this.' the jerks you're referring was the good for nothing co-worker guys whose keep bugging you during call time.
You can see how his face went gloomy. "How can you say that I've changed?"
  "Because you do."
"The last time I checked," he sighed. "I'm still the same Christian Yu for the past twenty-seven years on Earth and still the same Christian you knew since our Highschool days."
You tilted your head as an objection to what he said.
"Is this because of how I live my life now that made you think that?" he sips some of his coffee. "Not because I have this tattoos on my body, wearing expensive branded stuff, managing my own company and living my life on the way I wanted, that doesn't mean I forget who I am."
"That's not what I meant." you looked at him and saw in his dark eyes what he was feeling and that made you guilty.
"But that's what you're saying, you keep implying that I've changed. You ignored me all this time Y/N. Why? Because you're insisting that I've changed. I tried calling you - many times - but you keep on shutting me down, now I've changed?"
You felt a pang of pain from your chest and felt a slight ache from the back of your head.
"So it's my fault?" you let out a sarcastic laugh. "What the heck do you suggest I should do? When you're the one who kissed me the night of our last homecoming? You gave me hope that night, but you crushed that hope when you quit coming to school the next day and when we finally went to your house, you were gone and let me know all the freakin details thru your mother?! That you flew to Seoul right after our homecoming and you even failed to tell me?!"
  "Y/N ple---"
"You kissed me Christian... not once," you tried your best to hold in all the tears you can feel that's ready to fall. "You kissed me and you just run away. You knew you'll be leaving but you didn't even say a word. Oh yea, you did say something that made me think that night, 'Don't forget, I'll see you soon' then you kissed me some more. I knew then that I meant nothing to you, even tho I confess my true feelings towards you. That's how little you take me for Christian." you clenched your fist.
  "Let me explain Y/N,"
"No, there's nothing left for you to explain. All these years, I manage to think that you took pity towards me. Back then, a boyish girl whose parents are really strict, since you're the one boy they let me go with on homecoming, I knew you just felt sorry for me. And since then, I blame you, you kissed me to put a curse when it comes to my love life."
"What do you mean?" Christian was clueless about what you're saying in the end.
"In my twenty-seven years of existence, I'm still a freakin VIRGIN!" you said then punched him in his side.
He immediately felt the pain from your punch and when he realizes what you said his eyes almost pop out.
"What?! Are you saying that you never had a boyfriend all this time?" he can't believe in such and it was shown on his face.
"I had few, but not good to last long enough." saying that made you looked down and admitting all this to him made you want to punch yourself.
You heard him chuckled. And he just cleared his throat when you glare at him.
"Anyways, where did you even get that idea?"
"Idea?" you don't get what he was saying.
"That 'you kissed me because you just felt sorry for me', do you really think I can do that?"
"Well you just disappeared without a word Christian, what the heck do you want me to think? That you liked me too?" and you let out a sarcastic laugh.
"For years, I never gave up trying to get thru to you Y/N."
"Don't give me that Christian, you're making it sounds that we should just forget what had happened."
"All these years I thought you were already with someone else." he just said with a smile of relief shown on his handsome face.
"That won't ha-- what did you say?!"
He moved enough to face you properly.
"I thought you're already with someone. I'm not sure if Hoody mention this to you but I came back during your first year in the Uni, I planned to set the things between us right - I'm ready to back out in my agency at that time if you want me to, because honestly, all I can think about is you and your sweet lips. All that years you've been my strength, just thinking about you and the future we have after all my work was what keeps me going. But true to word that what makes you strong is your weakness at the same time. Going thru those painful days of training was all I can think was just stop and go home to see your face, to be with your embrace. It got me insane Y/N" he held your hand.
"So when the management gave us a week off, I requested to fly back here, there were against it afraid that I won't come back but somehow they made their mind to let me. So I asked your whereabouts to Hoody and when she gave me the details, that's when I saw you with this guy that according to Hoody was named Matthew. You looked happy around him. I never have seen you like that when you're with me. But I knew something was off with that guy."
  "What do you mean?"
"He seems shady so I kinda followed him more after you two separate that day, and there I found out he was just using you and he has more girls besides you."
You're shocked by this revelation, no wonder you were surprised when Hoody - who went on a different Uni from you - barge in one day in yours and kicked the hell out from Matt.
  "So you're the one."
"Damn yas. But I guess you really liked him since you still continue your ties with that guy even after you knew that. Hoody manages to promise me to keep tabs on you and take care of you on my behalf. So I just decided to let you be and just flew back to Seoul quietly and continue on what I've started and somehow - maybe I can make you proud and looked at me the same way."
You can't help but laugh. That made Christian looked at you worried as if you're sick or something.
"I'm sorry, I just can't believe this." he still looked confused. "You see, it would never happen, - I mean whatever you do - I'll never look at you the same way as I looked at Matt."
  "Why?"
"Because, Christian Yu, Matthew - even he's big ass of a man - he's a closet queen. The girls you saw that with him after me, I bet it was his customers to do their makeups or something." you saw how Christian face transcend all the emotion when he manages to get what you mean.
"Oh." he said, still trying to digest the whole idea he made for himself all these years.
"Oh my my ~" you manage to tease him.
He scratched the back of his head as if he felt embarrassed, but you cursed in your thought as you watched him and still he looked so damn good. Talk about puberty hits at its best. How you wish that hits could happen to you but that's too late now.
"By the way," you said when you remembered something. "Since you mentioned that Hoody keeps you posted about me, I guess she mentions someone named Taecyeon?" He nods. "Uhmm - I don't know if you knew it but he was the lawyer in charge of your dismissal case regards your previous agency. Mr. Taecyeon Ok."
He raised his eyebrow when he realizes it.
  "Oh," he said again.
"Oh my my ~" and both of you laugh.
You drank the remaining coffee you have in your cup.
"So ~" you said that made Christian looked at you even tho you locked your eyes to the cup you're holding. "back then, you didn't kiss me just because you felt sorry for me?"
  "Yas." he nods.
"And you tried reaching out to me for the past years but somehow you manage to stay lay low with all that?"
"Like what we say, row like kings - lay low like clowns." he smiled as he nods.
"And you thought I had a boyfriend who technically wants the same thing - a boyfriend?"
"Hell yea." he chuckled. "Now my turn to ask, do you...?"
  "Do you ~ what?"
"You know that." you can't tell if you're eyes playing tricks on you or did just Christian blushed?
  "What that? Just tell it."
  "I don't want to, it's too embarrassing."
"Don't let me repeat what I've said, just spill it out or else!" you tried to hold back your laugh to make it seem you're serious.
"Do you ~ like me?" and he bit his lips and looked down.
Silence. He kept his eyes looked down, while you, on the other hand, looked at him freely ~ enjoying your chance to properly appreciate his looks - you take a mental note that you need to give thanks to Mommy Yu when this is done - and how rarely you see a man like him to be blushed and damn it's because of you.
Because of the long silence, even tho Christian knew you were looking at him, he manages to look at you just to get the answer to his question.
You smiled at him. Then you reach to touch his cheeks. And heck he was red as a tomato. That made you even happier.
He was waiting for you to say something, so you decide to cut his torture - that was definitely a pleasure to you - it was enough to make him pay for making you wait almost in vain.
"Of course ~ friends needs to like each other."
You saw how all the redness of Christian's face drain and turned to pale real quick. You can't help it yourself but burst out laughing. Even some of the customers in the cafe looked at your way and can't help but be contained in your laughter.
"Seriously Y/N!" he said not how to react properly.
"Christian, I take it back ~ you're still the Christian Yu I knew, dumdum as ever and I always fall in love with you."
"Oh Y/N ~" he said as he wraps his arms around you and pulled you closer for a hug that you gladly welcome.
As the laugh exceed and he slowly loosens his arms around you, he placed his forehead against yours.
"So how about let me take a taste of that sweet lips of yours that I've missed so much?" he said as he slowly moves to kiss you.
You nod. "Tho I'm not sure if it's still sweet since I learn to drink coffee ever since you left."
"Well, let me be the judge to that."
The kiss tasted bitter-sweet, while you drink an americano latte- Christian, on the other hand, was drinking a cup of chocolate mocha.
In between that kiss, you smiled, for you thought that maybe - just maybe Christian already knew that he will meet you that day; that he knew that the both of you will end up kissing each other in the end so - just maybe that's why he ordered chocolate-latte for his drink, even tho you knew the reason why you like americano latte from the first place ~ is it was his favorite drink when it comes to coffee.

You’d been sat alone in a small room for who knew how long, your head resting against a wall seeing as you’d given up on finding a way out. There was no way out. You were stuck at this post apocalyptic concentration camp until you’d be freed. You just hoped that Alicia and Madison were in a better position than you were right now, you were exhausted but you needed to stay awake, you were alone, defenseless and honestly starting to find yourself rather scared as you sat in the corner of the cold unwelcoming room.
Why did she have to chase Nick? Why did Madison always have to chase him? Part of you understood why, sure. You’d always had feelings for Nick, despite his many flaws. Nick was kind, caring, he made you smile, and he never denied that he had faults. He was rather perfect in your eyes. But then he walked away, he looked at the group as they begged him to come and just walked away into a group of infected, because that was his new high. Then as always, Madison chased him and you were once more left to comfort your best friend, as she watched her mother caring more about her son than her. Alicia was like your sister; well the whole Clark family was your family now. Your parents had been away when the world ended, you never got to see them again, and you didn’t even really know if they were alive. But the Clarks kept you with them, through thick and thin.
Closing your eyes for a moment, you started to picture the way here. You wanted to at least try to figure out if you’d be able to get out of here, once you were reunited with the only family you had. But the issue was all you could picture was the dead bodies that were strewn across the grass. Those poor people, being murdered for who knows what reason? They didn’t look like the infected; you’d seen enough of them between L.A and Mexico to know they weren’t, even if you didn’t get a good look at them. Opening your eyes once again, you wished that you were at least tied up; wouldn’t it be easier if you were? You’d not feel so much like a caged animal if you were, you’d at least feel like a prisoner.
On arrival, your eyes had darted around; trying to see what was going on around you. How many solders, how many had guns, and who would be the easiest to take down. But you’d been quickly distracted by the split up of the group. Travis was taken to one truck, while you, Alicia and Madison the other way. It was then the horrible fearful thoughts had filled your mind, men and women were only ever separated like this for one reason, extermination. You’d always been into History, and all you could think at that moment was that one of these groups was never going to see day again. “Please, please don’t split us up!”  You’d begged at that point, begged and tried to fight to get Travis with you, at least if it was the end of your journey, it should’ve been all of your journeys end, not just one, or three.
Were you all doomed?
The door slowly opened and you found yourself wishing you’d found a weapon to fight with, sitting up you watched as a solder walked into the room carrying a tray. “Sorry to keep you waiting, I was chatting with Madison and Alicia. I lost track of time.” He explained letting out a chuckle as he placed the tray down on the table. “I’m Troy; you must be Y/N? They spoke very highly of you.” Standing up, you scoffed, not even really looking at him. “Where is my family?” You questioned, finally looking him in the eyes.
He might’ve been the bad guy, he might’ve been holding you prisoner, holding you away from the people who loved you and you loved. But you were rather surprised by his good looks. “Are you alright?” Had you been staring at him? “What? Oh, yeah. I’m fine.” You replied trying to compose yourself and forget about the good looks of the man in front of you. “Tea?” He motioned to the cups on the table, as he gave you a charming grin. “I’d offer coffee, but it’s sadly not brewed and we have to save energy of course.” Slowly you shook your head. “No thank you, I don’t drink tea.” You replied, folding your arms across your chest, you moved into the room, and a little away from the wall. “Where is my family?”
You watched as Troy took a seat and motioned to the one opposite him, he had a soft smile on his face as he did so, and you found yourself trusting him, even though he was holding you all captive, you couldn’t help yourself. “Are they actually your family?” His question caught you off guard, had Madison said they weren’t family? “No, they’re not. Not by blood anyway, but they’re my family. They’re all I have now, and I don’t want to lose them.” You explained softly looking down at the blonde southern man’s hands as he wrote in a book.
“What are you writing?” You questioned, Troy looked up after a moment and smiled. “I tend to write things about every person I meet.” He explained closing the book and tucking it back inside of his jacket. “What did you write about me?” You couldn’t help but lean forward, the curiosity making your eyes shine softly. Leaning forward, Troy reached out and tucked a piece of stray hair behind your ear. His touch sent a jolt of electricity through your body. “That’s a secret.” He whispered looking into your eyes as his fingers ran down from your ear to your arm, leaving a trail of Goosebumps along your arm as he went.
The pair of you stared into one another’s eyes as his fingers moved gently over your wrist. “I’ve never seen a group like yours, you all feel as if you’re family, even if it’s not by blood.” Looking down, watching his fingers for a moment, you grinned. “Well, we’ve been through a lot, Alicia is my best friend, and before all of this and I was staying with them. We’ve been through a lot as a group, why wouldn’t we look at each other as family?” You questioned as you felt his hand pull away from you, leaving a strange coldness to run through your body. Finding yourself struggling for the warmth that this stranger had provided you, your hand reached out to take hold of his. Only for a knock on the door to stop you before you were able to touch. “Troy, we’ve got a situation.” Watching as he stood up, your eyes locked with his for one more moment, he couldn’t seem to help giving you a cheeky smile, before turning and opening the door and leaving you alone.
You stared at the door for a few moments, willing it to open and for him to walk back inside, but you knew that was silly. Standing up, you turned and walked over to the couch across the room and sat down. Guilt entered your body as you thought about what had just happened, even if you’d hardly been anywhere near each other, you felt very guilty, as if you were betraying your family. You were almost thankful for the distraction, whoever, or whatever it was had saved you from a moment of complete and utter betrayal, something you weren’t looking to ever do against the Clark family.
You couldn’t help but wonder how any of them would’ve reacted if they had found you together, his hand on your arm, or your hand holding his. There was something about Troy, a strange pull that you found yourself having to him. But you chose to shake it off; it had to be because you missed Nick that was it, that was the reason. Wasn’t it? If only you knew that the reason he left the room was because of Nick, and Travis. Would that change anything? Maybe, but the woman that Nick had with him, was going to cause a big change for you.
You must’ve fallen asleep, because the door flying open caused you to sit up and shake your head. “Y/N, come on! We’re getting out of here.” Getting up, you made your way to the door and froze as you saw what Madison was doing to Troy. Covering your mouth, you pulled your eyes away, knowing you couldn’t look at that. “Y/n, come on!” Pulling your eyes away, you looked at Alicia. “Alicia go and get a car, Y/N try and find our weapons.” You nodded as Madison ordered you to do something; you however couldn’t get that image of Troy out of your mind, it caused a strange uneasy feeling in your stomach. You were sure you could feel the acid starting to move into your throat as you ran. You tried to fight the urge, as your stomach started to flip. “Come on Y/N, focus.”
Thankfully, everyone was more focused on Madison and what she was doing; you were able to find where they’d been holding the guns. But as you rounded the corner you came face to face with a gun. “Hands above your head!” He ordered, causing you to slowly raise your hands above your head, he moved and pulled your arms behind you and started to drag you out. “I can fucking walk!” You snapped as he dragged you to the pit. “Little thief.” He uttered into your ear as he dragged you there, you tried your best to fight him, but knowing he had a gun, sort of didn’t help you.
As you arrived at the pit, your eyes landed on Travis, Alicia and Madison. Rushing over, you hugged them, as someone ordered the solder holding you to let you go. “Thank God you’re-.“ You found yourself pausing and turning around to see him, see Nick. Your heart fluttered, but instantly dropped into your stomach as you saw the girl he was with. Bitter, sickening feeling filled you as you realized that in your mind you’d been chasing a ghost, there were no feelings between you and Nick, not the way you wanted there to be anyway, and that girl was just proof of it all. How could you have been so damn stupid? “Come on, we’re going to get Luciana some treatment, then we’re going.” Looking away from Nick, and the beautiful girl he was with, you followed after them, your heart sinking and feeling as if it was broken.
You guessed the main thing right now was that at least you were all back together now; the family would be able to leave as a group. “Could someone get some more bandages?” Looking up, you nodded softly. “I’ll go.” Walking to the infirmary, you couldn’t believe Nick. Were you just something to pass the time while stuck on the boat? Had those moments together not meant a single thing? That kiss the two of you shared after you nearly died, was that nothing? You guessed it didn’t, guessed that something about that moment had been nothing but a cruel trick. You found yourself wanting to cry, needing to. But you refused to, as the tears appeared, you blinked them away.
“Sorry, I didn’t know anyone was in here.” You spoke softly as you walked into the room. Watching the man stand up, you smiled softly. “How are you?” You asked Troy feeling stupid for having to ask that. “Well, someone nearly took my eye, but I guess I’m alright.” Watching him fold his arms, you looked away for a moment, your eyes glancing down. “I should get what I came for and go.” You whispered. “Y/N?” Looking up at him, you found him stood a lot closer now, your heart fluttering as you stared into each other’s eyes. “Come with me; come back to the compound with me. Leave them. Please.” Had you fallen when you were grabbed by that solder earlier, this had to be a dream. How could this person who hardly knew you, ask you to come with them to places unknown?
Feeling his hand touching your cheek, your head shot up. The distance that had been between the two of you was closed, standing with your bodies close to each other you felt your heart pounding. His thumb brushed over your cheek. “Come with me, you’ll be safe. Please.” His head started to tilt as he looked into your conflicted eyes. “Please.” He whispered as he leaned in to press his lips against yours, you found yourself leaning in too. Wanting to taste this man in front of you, regardless of what he’d just done to your family. Something about him pulled you in, every moment you were together, your heart fluttered and you felt alive. He was forthcoming with his feelings, unlike Nick who clearly never wanted you.
“Y/N!” The voice hit your ears, just as your lips were about to touch Troy’s. Pulling away, you turned around. “I’m in here.” You called, clearing your throat as Nick walked inside. “Is everything okay?” You nodded with a small smile. “Yeah, Troy was just getting me some bandages from his pack.” You lied, looking over at Troy who nodded and pulled some from his bag. “Here you go.” Taking them from his hand, you felt that same jolt of electric that had ran through your body on the first meeting. “Think about it.” He whispered softly. Pulling away, he went back to sorting his pack to leave.
Catching up with Nick, you made your way back. “Y/N…” You didn’t dare look at Nick, so many questions bubbling inside of you as you walked. “Whatever it is, can wait Nick. We have to go and help your girlfriend.” You rushed away, but found yourself stopping dead as you saw the infected coming from the other side of the hanger. Before you could even speak, Nick had run off to help them. Looking at the bandages in your hand, you put them into your pocket and raced over to help too. “Get back!” Finding something to fight with, you moved toward Madison and started to fight alongside her.
“Y/N, behind you.” Spinning around you saw an infected moving in to bite you, it was as if someone had placed a spell on you at that moment, you weren’t able to move as it reached out. “Y/N!” You could hear Nick shouting for you, but you still couldn’t raise your weapon, not when it looked like your dad. It was nearly upon you when a gunshot rang out and it was taken out. “Come on, get in the truck!” Looking up, you saw Troy and his men in their truck. “Madison, we have to go.” You told her, snapping out of the trance. “Nick, come on!” You made your way toward the truck, fighting off the dead. You could see Nick wanted to go for the chopper, but right now they needed to just go. “It’s our only option, come on!”
Reaching the truck, your hand was met with Troy’s as he pulled you into the truck. A grin appeared on his face as he looked away and shot down a couple of other infected. “Looks like you’re coming anyway.” He said clearly smirking as he did. “Come on, let’s go!” He shouted banging on the roof the moment Nick and Madison were in as well. “We’re all heading to the same place now.” You collapsed into a space beside Troy, your eyes staring at the group behind you, searching for the sign of the dead that looked like your father. “Are you alright? That undead bastard didn’t get you, did he?” Looking up, you noticed Troy looking down at you and shook your head. “No, I’m fine… it’s just… He looked like my father.” You explained, a look of sadness appearing in your eyes. “It’s alright; we all lose people in this world, it’s okay to be sad.” He said softly, your eyes looking at his hand that was resting on your knee. “How far is it?” Madison interjected, causing Troy to pull his hand away from you and focus on the other woman. Your eyes turned to look out at the dead bodies as you drove through the gates into the road, unaware that you were being stared at with a look of displeasure.

My story
I started out drawing when I was very little, my parents would take us out to dinner to this local Italian place that had paper table cloths and my brother and I would draw all over them, that’s one of my earliest and fondest memories.
Another one of my earliest memories was sneaking through my sisters drawing books and journals trying to copy the girls she drew, she is the most incredible illustrator and all I ever wanted to do was draw like her, I figured if my style wasn’t exactly the same as hers I didn’t want to draw. Ofcourse, I couldn’t draw like her, and I’m happy my style is different now but try telling that to a 6 year old stubborn little shit.
All through high school I always wanted to be a tattoo artist - every time I mentioned I wanted to be an artist I had students and teachers alike laugh at me with the mind set of “good luck” because to them that meant being broke and unsuccessful.
My dad was an animator, Mum a designer, and older siblings went on to NIDA to work in film, and succeeded. To no fault but my own I always felt like I was in the shadows, I didn’t think I could draw as good as the rest of my family, I had no interest in going to NIDA, I just liked drinking with my friends.
I had zero interest in UNI, I failed everything in high school because I was busy socialising so I assumed UNI would be even worse for me.
I had a billion jobs out of school; I worked at bakers delight (I got fired for eating too many cinnamon scrolls), I worked in an Indian restaurant, I worked in a law firm *cue laughter*, I was a receptionist in a couple of recruitment agencies, I worked in 5 - 6 retail stores, I worked in cafes, bars etc. and I hated all of them, I just thought people hated there jobs and that was that for the rest of my life.
I moved to Sydney when I was 23 to work at a Sailor Jerry themed bar in the Cross, the Brand ambassador from Sailor Jerry met me at a house party in Adelaide and offered to fly me up for the 6 week pop up bar. I went into work the following Monday and quit my boring receptionist job and packed my bag.
The bar was only a 6 week pop up and I had every intention of coming home after that, in hind sight that job gave me the kick up the ass I needed to leave Adelaide, I love Adelaide but I don’t think I could have started the business I have from there, I would have just kept getting drunk at the pub with my mates and never done anything.
When the pop up bar came to an end I had fallen in love with Sydney, MANNNN there was so much more to do here! I never went home. I lived in a boarding house in Surry Hills and I was putting my $250 a week rent on credit (bad move) but I had no choice, I had to stay. I floated around Sydney working in bars, cafes etc. I was working in this one place and hating it even more than the hated jobs before.. I was going home crying every day and then someone I knew mentioned that I could do sign writing at JBHiFIi, I didn’t even know this was a role.. a real job.. where I could just draw all day!? Seriously!? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP.
I went in for an interview, they didn’t even make me draw anything and hired me on the spot! I went home basically skipping, totally over-joyed.
For me working at Jbhifi was the major turning point in my life, I know that sounds a bit crazy but for the first time in my adult life I felt like I fit in (in a career sense). I would wake up in the morning actually excited to get to work,  I would draw up all the tickets, lay out massive plastic banners on the floor and paint gigantic promotional signs, most of the time they would just let me draw cartoons and funny puns and stick them around the store. I remember thinking “why didn’t I know this was a job before?!”
So while I was at Jb my confidence grew, I honestly hated all my drawings but day by day more and more people would start complimenting them, I thought people were just being nice to begin with but then I had other stores requesting me, strangers complimenting my work, Jb would have these competitions for the best signs in the country and I won a few phones from winning those. Finally I started uploading my work to IG and it got a great response… it really grew from there.
I started an art page and week by week it just kept growing with followers.
From IG I had people asking me to come into their venues and paint their signs. So I did! I added drawings into them and then people saw I could draw and not just do typography so it evolved into murals. between IG and word of mouth I was getting more jobs than I could handle. I replaced going to the pub and smoking a hundred ciggies and drinking too many beers with sitting at home and painting, and it was the BEST.
And then slowly but surely I dropped a day from my full time job at Jb, I had too much work to do with my side business!  Then another day, then another day, then another day…Soon enough I had too much work to be at JB anymore, so I quit! I did it. I showed all those people in highschool who would laugh at me when I said I wanted to be an artist when I grew up.. I went FREELANCE. BOOM.
I’ve been a freelance visual artist for almost 3 years now and BOY does it still feel good. It’s been years and I’m still pinching myself. Sometimes when I’m on a job I have to remind myself I get PAID to colour-in and do what I love. crazy.
I’ve worked for Google, Lily Allen, YouTube, Jaime Oliver, Westfield, Tanya Henessy, Harley Davidson, Deus, Sailor Jerry, Young Henrys, VB, VANS and many more.
It’s not all peaches and cream all the time, don’t get me wrong... Working from home is a blessing and a curse, invoices need chasing, tax scares the shit out of me, sometimes clients can really fuck you over, theres no annual leave and you have to get insurance incase my hands fall off and you can’t draw anymore. But all of that is learning how to build a better business and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hey friends! Happy Thursday! Hope you’re enjoying the week.
It’s been a fun and crazy one over here. The girls have had half-day camps, Liv auditioned for dance team, the Pilot has been flying nights, and madre’s birthday was on Tuesday! We got together for a *small* family dinner (we joke that we’re just a small party of 28), and ate Mexican food, cake, and sang “Happy Birthday” to the amazing lady who gives so much to everyone in our family.
My fave picture from the night!
(The cake was from Whole Foods bakery and so so good.)
Workout-wise, I’ve crushed every day this week. Sunday, we filmed Summer Shape Up videos (the party starts June 24)! Monday, I hopped on the Peloton bike for a 30-minute ride, Tuesday was barre, Wednesday was a BODYATTACK class On Demand (my link is good for 21 days FREE of the amazing Les Mills workouts), and today and tomorrow are off since I’m traveling to Chicago for a blog trip. I’m looking forward to catching up with Anne and Julie, and meeting some new blogger friends. I’ll be sure to share some of the adventures on IG stories!
I originally planned to post this one while we were on our cruise, but since internet was a bit sketchy – and I blasted through the ship’s plan in a mere 24 hours – I didn’t get the chance to get this one published. I originally saw this survey on my friend Ashley’s blog, and then Julie’s. I loved reading their answers so much, so I thought I’d join in the survey fun.
1.  What’s the best thing that happened to you this month? Taking a Disney Cruise with the fam!
2. What’s your favorite game? We don’t usually play board games at home, but our favorite games is a hide and seek and tag hybrid. I hide, the girls try to find me, I jump out and go “AHHH!” and they scream, I chase them around until I tag them, and then they hide.
3. When are you most inspired? Mid-morning, usually after I’ve had breakfast and survived the school drop-off.
4. If you could teach one subject in school what would it be? Math
5. What’s your favorite beverage? LaCroix
6. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? A friend from the gym sent a text message while the Pilot was deployed and basically gave me a pep talk. She said she was proud of me for doing so well with work stuff and solo parenting. It was very unexpected and really made my whole month. It was a great reminder to let other people know when I’m inspired by them or think they’re crushing it.
7. What is your favorite birthday cake? Yellow cake with chocolate buttercream
(That was my bday cake last year!)
8. What is one thing you still have from your childhood? A photo album that my mom made for me when I was 4 and we’d taken a trip to California. I was with all of my aunties, my parents were still married, and my uncle was still alive. Our dog chewed around the edges of it when I was younger, and the small plastic photo album contains quite a few happy memories from being a kid.
9. What is your favorite movie? Love, Actually
10. What is something you can’t do? Play the flute even though I faked it for an entire year in 5th grade. I could do all of the finger work, but no sound would come out. So I just pursed my lips and acted like I knew what I was doing.
