Last Memorial Day I was freshly separated and my life was falling apart around me so my mom pulled out the kiddie pool and we sat under the big ass tree and my one year old and I splashed in the water for an hour.

Today’s Memorial Day I laid out the 12x24 tarp and inflated the 10x6 pool and my two year old and I splashed in the water for however long the runtime for Jaws is.

Life is so good.

I have been pressured my life to constantly shave my legs, always all the time, and I finally reach a point in my life where I am more comfortable not doing it, for me, and then I decide I need a romantic/sexual partner? Apparently? And just knowing that I have to date people, strangers, and knowing that a significant chunk of them are going to be guys who are just like, completely and utterly judgemental and turned off by me being hairy, despite me being a literally generic milquetoast attractive skinny white woman, and knowing that fuck them they don't deserve me anyway if they can't deal with that, but also knowing that it will hurt me in weird self esteem ways that I haven't felt before since I don't really date people since I'm so romantically slow and unavailable. And knowing that socially it is still unacceptable in The Land Of The Free for me not to shave. That this is some sort of statement and not just me being too lazy to do that because I don't care about it enough to do it every day. And knowing that there are people out there who are cool and that would date me anyway despite this but knowing I have to go hunt them down in my area and that's so much work. :(

like, when you're hanging out and about to go somewhere and she says "oh my god, i could invite my rancid boyfriend!" because she's obsessed with him, he's like her jungkook, etc is it inappropriate to say "i don't want you to and if you do i will go home"? he's done nothing to you btw, he just doesn't like being around you and is always vying for dominance when you're together because he's a meathead moron and this is why you don't like to be around him. but when you bring this up she says "i think he's like that because he thinks you don't like him :(" and then what can you say but "i don't" lmao...

like. it's two things, right. you both clearly dislike each other. for whatever reasons. so why should you hang out. then secondly. what even are you to each other. why would you have a relationship. whose bright idea was it to mandate there be anything above civility in this type of relationship. but how do you explain all this in a way that doesn't make you sound like a dickhead.
