Carmines. Zorki 4. Tesco Colour Print 400 (expired.)

Carmine's is a really cool little cafe situated on Sefton Street near the Baltic Triangle. Their food is all freshly prepared on site (none of the microwave shite you get at 'Spoons.) Their coffee is quite nice too.

The hipsters are truly descending on Leith. I thought this flavour of waxed moustache striped shirt pocket watch and sunglasses Coolest Kids At The Warehouse Rave Mr B fucker died out in like 2012 but no they're everywhere. moustaches waxed up to the heavens tweed in 26° spring weather.

my going theory now is that this style of hipster is just an inevitable symptom of gentrification at any point in history. assume when Londinium was first becoming a metropolis it was beset by moustachioed men in pinstripe toga with pocket sundials. twats.

I feel exactly as strongly about the previous rounds of Gentrification Symptoms #which is to say: a proliferation of grey-decor coffee shops with industrial lighting fittings selling £4 coffees (~6 years ago)#an onrush of pricy vintage shops and independent art galleries (~4 years ago)#a rise of plant shops and plant themed cafes all decorated with endless monstera (~2 years ago)#and the current realisation that i can't fucking get a fryup in more than 3 places on this street bc everywhere is a goddamn brunch spot #selling £8.50 eggs on toast #meanwhile most of the independent grocers are shutting there's no more greasy spoons #oh and rent in the area has Literally Doubled at the lowest end. a 2 bed used to be in the 450-600 pcm range #now almost everything even the kind of dive i was in for £550 is £1k+ a month #instead of building more affordable housing they're building more student housing #and the vibe has changed. like ppl used to be extremely drunk and high but also very nice and i never felt unsafe here #that's still true but it's getting less true

really think i need to make more irl friends, but it feels so impossible. like most of the ppl my age seem to only hang out in bars, and it’s like sorry, i’m uncool and can’t drink, bc i’m on medication. and making friends via dating apps or something similar is abysmal. so, i’m kinda stuck imaooooo

#i’m aware not everyone hangs out in bars but might have reasons why they can’t hang out #elsewhere like in coffee shops or restaurants or parks or something #bc i certainly do #maybe there’s people who feel the exact way i do and can’t or don't want to leave the house bc of extenuating circumstances #like it’s difficult for me to leave the house #do i want to? yes but that doesn’t negate the difficulty #trying to make friends in general feels like pulling teeth #after a lifetime of autism and social anxiety i’m literally not fully convinced i even know how to communicate i just fell ass backwards #into stuff a lot of the time #trying to put myself out there in any way is literally so incredibly cringe to me #even if i do want to but again doesn’t negate the difficulty #but also again don’t know how to talk to people so even if by some miracle i make friends i might not get to keep them #idk it’s all just so frustrating #i envy the people who can make friends no problem and can talk to people and talking to said people doesn’t wear them out even if you really #like them bc social interaction is exhausting with anyone #but like it’s obviously worse when it’s new #bc small talk actually makes me want to stick forks in my eyes #i wish it were easy but it isn’t #idk i want my independence back and i want my freedom and i want irl friends again #and i want the world to stop feeling so closed off bc i know it isn’t #it’s just hard to see it that way from being bed bound most of the time #and that isn’t gonna change anytime soon #but i wanna open up the world again and i wanna go outside #and making irl friends is part of but i have absolutely no idea where to start #and the cycle continues #christ i almost wish i were back in college with the ‘girl gang’#i mean i felt like a huge outsider to them but at least i kinda had people to hang out with #idk desperately need to open my life up again bc literally no one can live like this and i’ve already been manic once this year #and i’d like to not be in that bad of a place again if i can help it #but idk what to do currently so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fika, Wavertree. Zorki 4. Ilford Ortho Plus.

I have posted pics of Fika's waterfront cafe and it's wonderful views in the past. Their original shop is located in Wavertree on Woolton Road. Whilst it is quite small the food and coffee are excellent.

They did not mind me snapping a few shots when I visited earlier this year. I am surprised the interior shots turned out at all as I was using a very slow film.

There is not a single place near my work to get coffee, the office coffee is the worst thing I've ever fuckin tasted, and now that the days are getting shorter I can feel the tiredness weighing on me without a second coffee in the afternoon (travel mug coffee in the morning from home), truly will the Agonies Never Cease
