i think i do want amy and rouge to be in the next sonic movie, especially if its gonna be an sa2 adaptation, but i cant help but worry that if they try to introduce shadow AND rouge AND amy in the same movie then at least one of those characters (most likely amy. tbh.) isnt gonna get the amount of screentime and development that they deserve. especially considering in the game timeline amy was introduced much earlier and by sa2 was already an established character while rouge and shadow were the newcomers. and then theres also the human characters who are gonna be making the cast a lot bigger than it was in the game so more people to divide the screentime among. like what if amy is in sonic 3 and she gets like 5 minutes of screentime and her big moment with shadow is given to another character again

#though i guess the sa2 based story being amy's introduction #could also open an opportunity for her to play a bigger role in the plot than she did in the original ... hmm.... #ive seen some people suggest the idea of amy or rouge being introduced in the knuckles series but i dont think i want that either? #the knuckles series should act as something that adds to the experience but isnt necessary to understand the next movie #i know we're all extremely autistic about sonic here but try to think of it from the perspective of a casual viewer #if i were a casual viewer of a movie series and didnt actively keep up with news for it and didnt know about any spinoff stuff #and suddenly a new character who was introduced in secondary material shows up in the next movie #and the writing treats me as if im supposed to know who they are. i would find that confusing and annoying actually #also with the whole. big cast of characters making me worried that certain characters wont get as much screentime as they should thing #i know in sonic 2 their way of getting around this was like. putting the characters into groups and pairs #that they stick with for long portions of the movie instead of there being a bunch of solo scenes for each character #and the most plot relevant characters all kinda join up at the end and do stuff together #which i guess could probably work for sonic 3 . so maybe im worrying over nothing

Also quick focus on Mal… If I ignore some of the things that happened in this chapter, I still like his “reunion” scene from last week. It was fun and felt kind of like old times. But when you factor those things in — mainly the fact that he said he thought we were dead — the way he acted last chapter is so upsetting and doesn’t even make sense now. If he really thought MC was dead, why wasn’t he more shocked to see her? If he couldn’t express that during/after the heist, why couldn’t he express that on the dock or at camp or literally anywhere else? Why has everything been so rushed? What are the writers doing??

shout out to a guy I was friends with in high school who invited me to hang out at his place to play Halo who proceeded to do 0 things to help me, a person who openly stated they never played the game let alone shooters, find enjoyment or weapon spawns or Anything and spent like 4 hours sniping me from across the map then wondered why I never came back unless the other token girl was coming along

#I was more i to fighting games because of my initial (and mostly better) friend group #but when I introduced it to the new group I'd play a character I wasn't famoloar with and help them learn controls and combos #and then they'd be like okay can we play Halo instead #anyways I stopped talking to that guy the second I was socially allowed to which was basically 6 mo ths before he graduated #because he broke my sweet bean's heart and I had been Just Waiting for an excuse to drop his ass #also he would do something shitty or rude and if you got mad or called him out he pulled the “I'm schizophrenic and off my meds” #like that sucks dude and I'm here for you but you can't harass cosplayers at the con and film them without permission??? #long way to say this is why I just don't play games in person and sit in the corner watching #it's 4am and my antibiotics are sorta working but I am in agony so you get HS stories of my life I guess

Scenario: Desperately chasing after your Tinkaton through Gear Station with Ingo and Emmet because because she just so happened to see one of their Steel type Pokémon and went “absolutely fucking not!!”, and started trying to beat the snot out of it with her bigass hammer. Passengers get to watch a normally formidable Steel type Pokémon, running for its very life from a cutesy pink Pokémon trying to hit it with a giant hammer. All while the two Subway bosses and a young woman try, in vain, to stop it.

I don't have names for them yet (If I've gotta fuck with fae names, it's gonna be a minute, okay--), but they're both originally from Unseelie; high ranking and long standing knights serving the former ruler before their assassination by the hand of the current ruler took place. Though they were given the choice to switch sides, they decided against it, and instead slipped away before they could be imprisoned or killed.

For a short while following this, they were displaced knights that were trying to keep under Unseelie's radar...until some of the Tuath Dé Danann found them and took the pair under their wing. The two knights now serve these former deities in the Otherworlds in gratitude for the mercy they were shown unprompted.

Tristamp speculation. I'm 90% convinced Milly is gonna be related to Roberto since it would explain why she sought out Meryl, and also it gives Milly automatic personal stake in the conflict with Knives. I also think the Eriks plot point will play out different since the circumstances around it are so much more devastating than the Fifth Moon - Some of it might be wishful, but I really have a feeling it'll take more than just Wolfwood to snap him out of it and Meryl will get involved this time.

I've seen that idea passed around before! After all, Milly's the youngest of...very many siblings, so her extended family is probably (comically) huge. Roberto could very well have been among them. And considering how strong her familial ties are, it makes sense if she would want to get down to the bottom of it to discover the truth behind a lost relative. :O (While getting swept up with the whole plot of…everything.) Seeking the same justice she's perceptively noticed (admired?) from Meryl's vigilant efforts.

The Eriks case then becomes interesting (different), because if s2 begins with him at that stage, with all his friends needing to find him to establish their party, then Milly too - needs to be properly introduced to the audience AND she herself needs to be properly introduced to Vash - the real Vash behind all the bounty/outlaw rumors. It makes sense if their timeskip reunion (and/or the first introductory episode) becomes more of a collaborated group effort because of this.

Cause Wolfwood's already seen the scars to help identify him, but that won't be enough if say, Vash is truly suffering from some trauma induced amnesia, where he doesn't fully remember who he is or even who his friends are. Then once again Meryl's voice becomes an important (key memory) trigger for Vash to help Find and reclaim himself. :O So I believe she'll be needed (and it won't make sense to exclude her, after she's spent the whole time in determined faith looking for him and likely defending his name; she, as our audience viewpoint character, needs that reunion just as much.) Especially to continue with the reoccurring themes established from s1, it makes sense for both of them (Meryl & Wolfwood) to contribute to help save their long-lost friend. Paralleling how Milly's on a quest for her long-lost relative too. (Just the extra shock it'd be for the girls to get their first 'scar reveal' scene this way, and especially so for Milly, if this becomes her first heavy exposure sympathizing to the real Vash all at once. D: Yow!)

I keep finding it so uncomfortable when people differentiate between women and men in my surroundings, and assume that some people are men and some are women. It's uncomfortable both because what if someone doesn't identify with whatever gender they may look like, and because why is it an important distinction in the first place?

Granted, there may be circumstances where it's relevant, but for context let me list some examples of what I mean. These are examples that I've experienced in the recent weeks:

When playing a game that requires two teams, someone suggested that the women should play against the men, and then when this ended up being the case, regular jokes were being made related to gender whenever someone made a bad play

At lunch, someone said "looks like we're all women here today"

Whenever someone who presents as a man has done something stupid or whatever (whether a celebrity or just a regular person), it's common for people to tie that stupidity to the fact that the person is "a man". This seems like a tactic that's sometimes used in order to gain social benefit with women. For example, ending a story about something stupid someone did by going, "ugh, men"

It's also common to hear people mention someone's gender in a story they're telling as though the gender is relevant to the story, when usually it really isn't relevant at all. For example, "... and then she did X and Y, which isn't strange at all because she's a woman, and then he said Z ..."

I know these are innocent things people do and say, and they likely aren't even aware that it can be uncomfortable for some people. Maybe for people who strongly identify as either gender it can even be affirming to have people say these things. I just wish I knew a good way to say that it's making me uncomfortable without having it become a big thing or making them think I'm overreacting

#part of it is definitely because I'm starting to think that the distinction is useless in most contexts #But I'm also wondering what this says about my own gender identity #I still haven't figured out whether I do identify as some variant of nb or not #It might honestly just be that I'm uncomfortable about being lumped into a group based on a factor I deem irrelevant #But idk? I wish it was easy to figure out my own identity. Sigh #Maybe I just want to be part of a group without having to be arbitrarily lumped in with others based on how I look #I'm reading a book rn btw which takes place in a future where gender identity is never assumed #Whenever a new person is introduced the they/them pronouns are used until that person's specific gender identity is presented #The author describes people based on aspects of their appearance but the gender identity doesn't always correlate with appearance #So appearances that today are commonly viewed as 'male' or 'female' do not always correlate with people's actual gender identity #And it's deemed disrespectful to assume gender identity when it's not been confirmed yet #I haven't read very far yet but there's been one scene where a person did assume someone's gender identity #And it was presented in the book as 'wow this person is an asshole who assumes gender identity in order to insult me' #I think it's so refreshing to read #The book is called The Spare Man. as much as i am excited for shadow in sonic 3 i still REALLY wish they hadnt jumped straight to sa2 n done sonic adventure instead or Something. obviously i get why they did shadow but i agree i really hope they dont just straight up adapt sa2 because theres so many moving parts. my biggest fear is that theyre gonna introduce characters like rouge and amy who are integral to shadows story (in sa2) at the same time and that its just gonna be a mess

yeah i love rouge and amy but if the next movie has to handle introducing both of them along with shadow then things could get really messy and i highly doubt that all three of them would get the amount of screentime and focus that they deserve. rouge was introduced at the same time as shadow anyway so thats not as much of an issue its mostly amy im worried about. she was already an established character who had been around for a few years when sa2 came out. assuming that the next movie is gonna be an sa2 adaptation and amy is going to be in it how are they going to handle that being her first appearance? and while i dont think i want the movies to be exact copies of the games in terms of story i do find it a tiny bit annoying that they seem to be somewhat going in order in terms of what characters they introduce and what games they adapt but just completely skipped over everything with amy in it and shes still the only main character who hasnt been introduced in the movies yet and they revealed shadow before her. like on one hand yeah shadow is one of the more popular and widely recognized sonic characters so it makes sense to use him and hype him up but also why did you have to do my girl amy like that

#and it doesnt help that amy is the only girl in the main cast too and is the only one that hasnt gotten any attention at all #iirc the sonic movies have always been planned to be a trilogy so that might have something to do with why they skipped cd and adventure #i guess its possible that amy or rouge could be introduced in the knuckles spinoff series. if that ever even comes out. #but idk. i dont like the idea of a main characters introduction being shoved into side media that a lot of people wont watch #because it really annoys me when other movie series do that #asks #ik in the second movie they split the cast into groups/teams and did very few solo character scenes #which i guess could work for the next movie too but if every important character from the first 2 movies #is also going to be in the next one along with any new characters then it could be harder to do that #while still giving every character the necessary amount of attention does that make sense
