Ok, so I've been obsessed with Monster High since it came out, and my favorite character has always been Jackson Jekyll. And you know what? Not only is he an underrated character, but like, they made his background super detailed and complicated for like no reason. I couldn't tell you how many times I've gone on long rants trying to explain it all.
Think of this like a combination of different wikis. This is based on Generation 1, the movies from Boo York Boo York and previous, the diaries, the webisodes, and some of the books. I have not watched anything from Gen 2 or 3, which really doesn't matter because Jackson isn't in any of the reboots.
Basic Information
Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde are two people in the same body. They have different memories and different personalities.
Jackson Jekyll is 16 years old. His favorite color is yellow, his favorite food is mac & cheese, and his birthday is May 30th.
Holt Hyde is 16 years old. His favorite color is orange, his favorite food is hot wings, and his birthday is May 30th.
They both have a pet chameleon named Crossfade.
Jackson is a bit of a nerdy type. He enjoys wearing bow ties and sweater vests. He likes to play video games. He's crazy smart, and his favorite subject is Mad Science.
Holt has a rocker style with his everyday outfit being a red leather jacket and purple pants. He also shows more of their fire elemental side than Jackson, so he incorporates flames in all his outfits as well. He loves music, so he always wears headphones (not to mention that later becomes his trigger), and music theory is his favorite subject. He has a hot temper and can become angry very easily.
Jackson Jekyll is their default character. However, he transforms into Holt due to different triggers. His original trigger was it being either day or night where he was Jackson during the day and Holt at night. Later, his trigger changed to music with a 4/4 time signature, which is most music. In the diaries, Jackson states that his doctor believes the trigger will change at least one more time, and he is deathly afraid it will be something important that he can't avoid like taking a shower.
Jackson and Holt did not know of each other's existences until they were 16. Since their memories were different, they thought they had consistent black outs. Holt considered it just a way of life and how it was, but in the books, Jackson (thanks to the suggestion of Melody Carver) thought is was due to his extreme anxiety.
Family
Jackson Jekyll is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jekyll.
Holt Hyde is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyde.
Jackson was born half normie (mom) and half monster (dad). The thing is, his dad is not the Jekyll/Hyde. That's his mom. His mom is the normie half of the Jekyll and Hyde combo. His dad is a fire elemental.
Holt is a full monster. His mother is the Hyde, and his father is a fire elemental.
This makes Jackson and Holt half-brothers. They have different moms but the same dad.
They know they have different moms or at least more than one mom. They call her Moms in the books and diaries. Their mom (in both versions of Jekyll and Hyde as far as I can tell) is named Sydney, who is a science teacher at Merston High and likes to go by Mrs. J.
That adds on another layer because that means his dad took his mom's last name, AND his dad's last name changes depending on who his wife is because he married both the Jekyll and the Hyde. So does that mean every time he is asked his name, the dad has to be like, "I don't know. Let me call my wife,"? Like, does he just change his name every day or is he just Dr. Jekyll by default and then changes his name if he gets a call from his wife? And he's not Dr. Hyde but Mr. Hyde, so does he loses his doctorate when his wife goes crazy?
Anyway, Jackson and Holt are cousins with Heath and Harmony Burns. Harmony is Heath's older sister. Their mother is Jackson and Holt's dad's sister aka their aunt.
Friends
Jackson's best friend is Deuce Gorgon.
Jackson first met Deuce in the diaries where they played some pick-up casketball. Then, they met-met and actually started to hang out after the webisode Fear Pressure. In the episode, Jackson had started to attend Monster High but was being bullied for being a normie (or at least appearing as one), so Deuce decided to take pity on him and let him sit at his and Heath's lunch table. Later on, Deuce introduced him to others like Gil.
When they first moved to their neighborhood, which made them change schools and start attending Monster High, Jackson only became Holt during the night, so Jackson was the first one to meet their neighbors. One time, Draculaura made him a welcome-to-the-neighborhood cake, and when he returned the tin, he met Dracula of which he was not afraid and actually made a joke about stakes. This was considered weird because both normies and monsters were afraid of Dracula, for in the diaries, he was described as being like a creepy, no-nonsense Nosferatu. Later, Draculaura invited him to Clawdeen's Boo-B-Que where he met The Wolfs.
During the night, Holt would come out and walk around. There, he studied his neighbor's houses and saw them very occasionally.
Holt actually went and became a DJ with the nickname DJ Hyde. While working a party, he met Draculaura. She was dancing the Transylvania Trance. He thought she was attractive and approached her by calling her Ula D, but she became confused because they had never met before.
That adds on another thing. Apparently, they can share some memories.
Romances
Jackson and Holt had many romances.
In the books, Jackson went to Merston High. There, he met a siren named Melody Carver. They started to date, but Melody met Cleo, because Cleo also went to this school for some reason, and they hated each other. So to get Melody jealous, Cleo ended up kissing Jackson. But he felt nothing for her. Then Melody started a band and revealed Holt, which started a love triangle except Jackson didn't know about Holt, so he didn't know what she was upset about. They ended up breaking up where she then got with a gargoyle named Granite who was also into music, but unfortunately their relationship never went anywhere, and Melody and Granite never became official.
Then there was Draculaura. Jackson and Holt both liked her, but she only ever tried to date Jackson. She said in one of her diaries that they ended up "breaking up", even though they were never officially dating, because he never went to their evening dates and could never remember exactly why he didn't the next morning. Little did they know it was because of Holt.
Then there was Frankie. She slowly fell in love with him over the course of Volume II of the webisodes in episodes such as Miss Information, Hyde Your Heart, and Hyde and Shriek. She originally liked Jackson because he was the new kid, and she was fairly new too and remembered how hard it was. She even stood up against his bully, Manny Taur. But then she met Holt and became conflicted because she thought she liked both of them and had to choose between them. After she found out they were the same person, she introduced them to each other, which is how they found out about each other in the first place. She then would record them talking on her phone so that they could talk to each other, but that got old fast, so she gave them separate phones specifically for texting each other. She decided they couldn't date until they got over their differences.
There was Operetta. In the diaries, Holt said that he liked that she liked music, so they went on a date at a concert. But then Holt got angry at someone, and due to his anger issues, he got into a fight. He and Operetta were kicked out. Her dad did not like that, and they weren't allowed to date anymore.
Then there was Clair. Clair is my personal favorite and is my OTP. In the movie Ghouls Rule, Holt got arrested while he and other monsters were vandalizing the normie school of New Salem High. He transformed back into Jackson while in jail, so they let him go thinking that Holt somehow kidnapped Jackson and swapped places with him. He became a fugitive, so Jackson hid by attending New Salem High. There, he met Clair. She stood up to bullies for him and even later defended him against the police after they captured him and tried to behead him (and no, I'm not joking). They had a discussion at the end where Holt commented that while Jackson and him don't agree on much, at least they can agree on women. He tried to kiss her, but she swapped him to Jackson first and then kissed him because, well, she didn't know him that well yet. She's an anti-police, anti-racism/speciesism, goth baddie, and I love her for that.
Side Notes
Despite being a huge nerd, Jackson is actually really good at sports. Jackson and Deuce only initially became friends because of a game of casketball. In Deuce's diary, he went to the court to play, but only saw "a lame human kid" aka Jackson. He was initially going to ignore him, but then Jackson asked to play. Then it turned out that Jackson could play very well. Quote, "I was gonna slide out of there, but he asked if I wanted to play some one on one. I figured it wouldn't take long to make him look like a statue out there, but I was wrong. He had a scary good jump shot and even crossed me over a couple times. I had just started to play really hard when my glasses got knocked off and broke. Now I have to figure out a way to get home without stoning someone, but dude just took off his shades and handed them over to me. He said to keep them until I got home and he'd get them later. Told me his name is Jackson Jekyll. He said he wants a rematch. I told him any time, any place. Not a bad guy...for a human." Also, in Friday Night Frights, Jackson attempted to join the roller maze team before he was stopped by Manny Taur. Edit: I just remembered he also plays volleyball in the Gloom Beach line.
Additionally, Jackson and Holt have facial piercings and tattoos. This is very rare and somewhat strange given they are only 16 and would at least need parent's permission for the tattoos. The only other G1 characters that have tattoos, that I know of, are Operetta and Wisp from 13 Wishes. The only other characters with facial piercings, not counting ear piercings, are Clair, Cleo, and Manny Taur as Cleo has the gem under her eye, Clair has a classic lip piercing, and Manny has a septum piercing. Jackson has one tattoo of a Ying & Yang symbol on his back, and he has an eyebrow piercing on his left eyebrow. Holt has two tattoos with the same Yin & Yang tattoo and an additional face tattoo around his eye. He also has a left eyebrow piercing.
The tattoos admittedly confuse me because the fact that Jackson doesn't have one of Holt's tattoos may imply that they got the tattoos separately, so they both just so happened to pick the same tattoo and then Holt got one extra. Also, their parents had to sign off on allowing their 16 year old son to be allowed to have a face tattoo.
Edit: Some people have mentioned that Holt's face tattoo may actually be a birthmark due it being mentioned in one of the diaries. However, this doesn't make sense to me because Jackson does not have a birthmark. So like many, I believe this mention of it being a birthmark was only added after they made the design as an excuse, and it should be left up for interpretation.
That's alI can think of for now. Info may change later, but that's the story of The Strange Case of Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde.

In honor of that poll, which has apparently been answered by a bunch of loser rogue-fuckers, and was also written by someone who doesn't even have the update that gives you twelve poll options, please have a good ranking of sexiest D&D 5e classes, from me.
This only has the 13 officially published 5e classes so do not ask me about classes that are not that. Also, the existence of a handful of sexy or unsexy characters of that class does not a sexy or unsexy class overall make. I'm sure these two statements will not shut down all annoying people but by god I hope they shut down some.
Paladin. Self-explanatory: if you don't agree, you better explain yourself, unless you think they are outranked by...
Wizard. As Liam O'Brien said, what's sexier than wizards? And I said "paladins, but no one else." I'm also going to fuck up an Octavia Butler quote and say that her journal did not explicitly state that single-minded devotion is sexy but it is, and that's why wizards and paladins are, undisputably, the top two.
Warlock. Would be higher than wizards on the basis of sheer raw charisma but some warlock classes (archfey, hexblade) are extremely sexy and some are...pots in need of very unique lids, shall we say.
Bard. This is for competency and knowledge of mythology and musical instruments. If you're into some kind of memeriffic 20 CHA 7 INT Roll To Seduce bro shit, get the fuck out of here.
Ranger. Their combat abilities are not as great as they could be but this is also without a doubt the class that will invite you over and make a delicious foraged mushroom risotto and have lit candles they made themself. They are good with animals and can identify constellations. Entire package.
Barbarian and Fighter are tied. Do you prefer a flow state and passion or do you prefer dedication and persistence? Axe or sword? Raw power or precision? Equally valid; it's a matter of personal taste.
Cleric. One of the gods thinks they're special; it's hard not to be drawn in by that. Also, healing is the sexiest magical ability. Points off for the possibility of sanctimonious behavior.
Druid. This is just personal taste but I would find it weird if my partner was sometimes a giant scorpion, and I feel rangers are just the far sexier nature-loving option. People for whom druids are #1, I see you, I respect you, I disagree with you, but I do think you're valid.
Monk. Here's the problem. Yes flexible; everything else is kind of a solid "eh" for me. Honestly I think it's because D&D separates out dexterity and strength even though monks technically need both, and so the low-strength monk archetype really doesn't do it for me. It's not unsexy but it never wows me, and honestly in real life martial arts is usually more an aesthetic joy than a sexy one for me.
Sorcerer. Often physically attractive but I do not love a nepo baby, and absolutely the class least able to make you breakfast. Class most likely to attempt to make you breakfast and manage to fuck up scrambled eggs.
Artificer. Love the class but unfortunately I can only think of Belle's father in Beauty and the Beast (1991) when I think of what an artificer looks like. Wizards claimed the hot nerd spot; artificers never had a chance.
Rogue. Anyone can wear black leather. Anyone can twirl a butterfly knife and the ranger is going to be better at using it. You know what rogues are best at? Leaving through the window without waking you up. That's it. Bards have the same skills and then some and they're hotter by design. There are other classes with superior physical skills. Burst damage is already not actually that useful in 5e combat and even less so in the bedroom.

The Problems With Charlie As The Main Protagonist
I've spoken about my thoughts on Charlie as a character before a few times on this blog, but I think it's finally time to discuss why Charlie isn't exactly the best protagonist. On the surface, there doesn't seem to be much wrong with her, she's likable and endearing enough and she's easy to root for. But...once you look deeper, the problems begin to rear their ugly head.
1. Charlie Never Grows
The first major issue with Charlie as a character is how she never really grows over the course of the first season. The show never really gives her much of an arc...? Like, by the end of the season, what does Charlie really learn by the end? The only thing I can think of is that she was right about sinners being redeemed and...that's it.
And it doesn't really make Charlie that particularly compelling as a character, she's entirely stagnant. She does have a conflict with her father, which, while executed fine, isn't enough to make her a developed character. She only gets small tinges of development and that isn't really enough for me.
Charlie doesn't learn anything or grow as a character, which makes her pretty underdeveloped as a character. The show never really gives her any real character flaws to grow from and become a better person, she's always portrayed as in the right anyway and never challenged once. Speaking of that...
2. Charlie is Always Right
This more or less ties back into the "Charlie never grows" point I've said before and I've talked about this several times before, but it's still an issue with Charlie's character; she is ALWAYS in the right. Charlie's "everyone can be redeemed" mentality is never once challenged by the narrative, and anybody who does oppose Charlie in any way is considered as wrong by the narrative.
The reason why this is a problem is because Hazbin Hotel heavily preaches about being against black-and-white moralities, as seen with Heaven and especially Adam. Heaven is meant to be seen as bad because of its black-and-white mindset of "Sinners can't be redeemed and never will". This is put on full display with Adam, and his song Hell is Forever, to the point it literally includes lyrics like "the rules are black and white there's no use in trying to fight it".
You Didn't Know further pushes this with this line "the rules are shades of gray when you don't do as you say and you make the wretched suffer just to kill them again".
So the show wants to push a message of "black and white morals are bad", but...it's rendered moot by the fact that Charlie is purely portrayed as in the right. Charlie is completely correct, everybody can be redeemed, everyone even the most evil people who did the worst possible things can still be good, and anyone who opposes her is wrong cuz she's completely in the right...gee, for a show so heavily against black-and-white moralities...doesn't this all seem very black and white in it of itself?
Charlie's "everyone can be redeemed" mentality is just as black and white as Adam's "nobody can be redeemed", they are both extremes leaning in opposite directions, that are also both wrong in their own ways, yet the show portrays Charlie's extreme as the right one and Adam's as the wrong one.
I've already talked about this before but Adam is a pure straw character; he only exists so Charlie can prove him wrong, he cant have any real character depth beyond being a generic asshole or have a real point because the show is so dead-set on making Charlie purely in the right no matter what; the narrative never challenges her and anyone who opposes her is portrayed as automatically in the wrong.
This is not the only time this happens btw. In episode 5, Lucifer is also portrayed as automatically wrong for opposing his daughter’s goals. He himself says that “Our people are AWFUL. They got gifted free will and look what they did with it!”, and the show…never counters this, despite what Lucifer is saying…being true. The people in Hell ARE awful and it's their own fault, many of them ARE deserving of death because…well, their shitty people.
Charlie is never challenged once throughout the show and its a problem because not only does it fly in the face of the show being so anti black and white, it also wastes an opportunity for the show to develop Charlie as a character; with her learning that some people can't be redeemed because they either are incapable or uninterested in changing.
That would fit more with the show’s anti-black-and-white themes and also have Charlie go through real growth as a character as she learns that not everything is all sunshine and rainbows. But sadly, we can't really have that.
So Charlie's ideals are never challenged by the narrative and thus it not only flies in the face of the show's themes it also wastes an opportunity for Charlie to grow as a character. Now it's best to get into the next issue with her...
3. Charlie is Barely Focused On
Another big issue with Charlie as the show's main protagonist is that the show doesn't really focus on her that much, especially the first half. Now, shows don't need to focus on the main protagonist at all times, obviously giving some screen time to other characters is definitely something shows should do.
But the problem is that Charlie gets very LITTLE focus in the series despite being the main protagonist, and this contributes to the problem of her being underdeveloped. The first half of the show is especially bad at this; episode 1 Is the only episode in the first half that focuses on Charlie, but even then it's overtaken by the B-plot involving the other characters trying to film a commercial.
Episodes 2&3 are entirely dedicated to what characters like Alastor or Angel Dust are doing and episode 4 is completely focused on Angel and his arc. It contributes to the issue of the show not being able to develop Charlie that much as a character because she's constantly being overshadowed by other characters. The second half is better in this regard for focusing more on Charlie but still, for the first half of the show, it feels like Charlie is overshadowed by other characters which is embarrassing because, well, she's the main character, yet she feels like she's barely gotten any actual spotlight.
4. Conclusion
I want to love Charlie as a character. I really do. I mean, she's a part of one of my favorite character archetypes. I always LOVE over joyful optimistic characters because I just find them a joy to watch on screen, but sadly, Charlie doesn't have much depth beyond that archetype. She isn't that developed making her fail to be much of a compelling protagonist, her ideology is never challenged by the narrative wasting an opportunity for her to grow and contradicting the show's themes, and she's heavily overshadowed by other characters despite being the main protagonist.
So ya, that's why Charlie isn't that great of a protagonist...bye.

First as a disclaimer: I'm pretty sure I'm not an anti (I'm anti death threats and am fine with incest, age-gap, abusive ships etc)
However I'm probably still a social/political enemy for various reasons but you sometime post asks from people you disagree with I think and I think you might know this answer.
Anyway onto my question I'm the kind of shipper who likes canon compliant ships and looking for hints and stuff but these days it feels like everyone boasts about how much their ships deviate and poop on canon etc. Do other shippers with my mentality still exist and I just don't notice them (Outside of anti spaces) or are we actually a dying breed?
--
Eh. I think "political enemy" has a pretty fluid definition if one is really into playing politics. If you aren't out campaigning on a white supremacy platform, we probably have some goals in common.
I usually block people for being extremely annoying on a day I'm feeling hormonal or for attacking people particularly viciously in my comments, not for nominally being in some other camp.
--
I think the more canon-adjacent fandom flavors are actually really common.
They're a little lost in the tumult of "My headcanon is actually canon!!!" stuff on tumblr that we like to laugh at on my own blog.
They're also less common in oldschool m/m-shipping spaces because those are often inherently non-canon ships. In the past, it was because homophobic censorship wouldn't let anything be made. These days, it's because the flavor of m/m a lot of people like is more easily found by adding romance to a buddy canon than by trying to add buddy-ness to a romance canon in many cases, and this can be true even if canon is original m/m aimed at fandom types.
Here's the thing: oldschool m/m shippers tend to be particularly prone to building community spaces and recording our history precisely because it's so easily erased and so often attacked. This type of shipper also tends to have more of a cohesive identity. That makes it far easier to name ourselves and set up little fiefdoms on modern social media.
I'm one of these people. Shittons of the people doing amateur fandom history work are. Much of the OTW old guard are. And lots of us know each other at least a bit, so if you're running into one of us, you're probably running into more of us.
--
However, that doesn't actually mean this type of shipping is the most common or that there have never been spaces devoted to something else.
That old Beauty and the Beast tv series with Linda Hamilton had epic canon shippers. So did Moonlight (the vampire tv series). So did and does Twilight.
A lot of these shippers had this as their first and possibly their only fandom and carried on being obsessed long after canon was over.
Lizzie/Darcy shippers put anything I have ever been a fan of to shame. No matter what the AO3 numbers show, this ship far, far exceeds the popularity of Destiel or any of the other m/m heavyweights.
--
I think the problem you're running into is that in the modern era of binging things on Netflix and regular joes being huge media geeks, analyzing canon in a nerdy way and obsessing over your canon ships is just how a big chunk of the population engages with media.
Fan theories that are closely tied to what was actually on the screen/page are the bread and butter of water cooler conversations and have been since The Sopranos and its ilk.
Yes, I know some fuck will immediately show up and go "Ahem, ahem, I am a GEEK and SPECIAL and the people around me never have intellectual conversations about media literally ever!!!!" just like every single time we have this conversation. But times have moved on, and being overinvested in canon theorizing just is a normie activity now, and that's great! Except when you want a special term and space to find your people.
The only time canon shippers really stand out from that is if they're extremely fic-focused, and then they often start straying farther from canon, especially if they stick around the same fandom for a long time. Either they start becoming more fans of some fic writer or they start wanting to diversify what they themselves are writing.
The really good close-to-canon fandom activities are at their best when lots of fans find the same currently-running canon at the same time and before canon itself passes its prime.
Even I started out on alt.tv.x-files, analyzing the shit out of season 2 and not caring much about non-canon things. (Though, admittedly, I was more NoRomo than MSR.)
--
That said, antis are not actually that canon-focused in most cases. They will do the "My headcanon is reality" thing as much as anyone. They just tend to spend a lot of time hating on explicit m/m and a lot of explicit m/m is of non-canon ships.
Honestly... anon... you might want to figure out what the latest CSI-ish franchise is and find the obviously-future-canon het ship from that. Those tend to get the 10 seasons of build up and fan theories that don't stray too far from canon.
This stuff is not only not a dying breed, but it's so common that one of the editors of NCIS delivered a deeply cringeworthy lecture at my film school about what "shippers" are and how the Tiva shippers affected the production.
People into those ships don't need tumblr: Major entertainment magazines are publishing their fan theories for them.

Toby and Clockwork
some headcanon takes on this relationship platonically and romantically
Mentions of Abuse and Self inflicted harm
Details of their stories
I'm just going to get straight into it and say right now that they have known eachother since they were still in school. If it's true that Toby had begun homeschooling when he just turned 16 that would put him right at the end of freshman year (his birthday being in April)
This being said, they would've seen each other around for a good..3 years maybe? Attending the same school since primary. Natalie found interest in him first, finding out that he also took a liking to drawing and doodling. It had never occurred to her what kind of kid he was or his social status until maybe 8th grade. (they'd both be 15 with some months apart)
Natalie never wanted to approach him since she had always struggled with making friends and interacting in general but always found his existence almost aspiring. It wasn't until later down the road that Toby would begin to also begin taking notice of her and her interests when she'd be getting picked on aloud for it occasionally.
Both of them were extremely awkward, too nervous to ever make the first interaction and actually get close to maybe becoming friends. This of course disregarding everything going on at home for the two, as personal business was usually kept to themselves unless brought out some other way.
They two never actually interacted until they began to share classes and eventually school work. Natalie definitely let him copy off her homework and he'd usually bring her cool drawings or nick nacks from the woods near his house. Eventually bumping into each other in the same woods a few times. (turns out they live in the same area) both were lower class families so it wasn't a surprise that they lived so close, it was maybe a 10 minute walk to each other's house, even faster on bike. Natalie had a bike actually, and she used it all the time just to drive by his house on it to see if he'd be looking out of the window like she'd catch him doing it from time to time. It wasn't long till she was introduced to Lyra and his mother. Natalie never did get suspicious about the lack of mention for his father. And he never questioned her about her own parents either. I just know they definitely went down to the local library and would just randomly pull out books that have a silly name or cover image just to sit and make fun of scenes or the idea of it. (i feel they would absolutely eat up the world record books and your mom joke comics)
It was like when they were together time had stopped and nothing mattered anymore.
Sadly though of course we know what happens, as they grew older they fell apart due to Toby becoming homeschooled and Natalie having to move to a new house due to the poor condition of her older one. He stopped seeing her ride down his street, seeing her in the woods, she wasn't able to contact him due to not having access to his landline phone and (since this was back in the 90s which is my personal take,) communication was extremely hard for them. Toby began to assume that she just didn't care for him anymore and that she moved on. He hadn't known she was moving as she was just too sad to tell him, and hoped that he would find out some other way, which ended up backfiring back onto her as now he had no idea what had happened, and now assumes that she hates him.
After his sister passed, memories of Natakie began to fade one by one until eventually he didn't even remember her name. He had developed memory problems, only worsening with each day. She doesn't exist to him at this current moment.
During this time was when he was the most vulnerable, the most in need of a friend.
Natalie wasn't doing all too well either, her situation at home and the constant neglect and anger she was facing only made her spiral down a dark oath. Almost identically tied with Toby’s. It was the same force, the same drive and motive speaking to them. By now we know the story, murder the parents and run away.
It really wasn't till years later (specifically 2 years) they finally ran into each other again, but the memories are gone, nothing but malice and sorrow filled their hearts.
I like to think they first met again with a good fight. Toby ended up ‘winning’ this said fight only to the surprise of Nat that he cannot feel physical pain. This interested her to the point of just calling the duel off and began to ask a ton of questions. Toby found her curiosity almost amusing and led both himself and her down a rabbit hole of the forest and why he's here (what he remembers at least) and she occasionally spits out a bit of her own story (also from what she remembers)
The questions were related to her eye, why weapon choice, favorite color. Cheesy shit. He mostly asked the cheesy shit….
It was obvious the two lacked communication skills.
And we just start over from there.. If anything was destined to be together, it was these two. (platonically or romantic, take that as you please. )
Now as for my actual headcanons for their shipped relationship? Based on the canon art I've seen of them, they seem nothing more than just a regular couple, honestly. Millennial humor, matching couple shirts, probably crack horrible jokes they don't even remember reading or learning about. We can't forget that this was an actual healthy relationship. Yeah they're both psychotic and murderers but I see them more as anti heroes. Even though they did unspeakable things, Nat just does it out of spite and anger, not actually meaning to ruin anything, having bad borderline spirals and manic episodes while on Toby’s end, he's completely forced to do it until his body cannot stand anymore. They see humanity in each other and are the light and entertainment they both crave.
And man Toby entertains the absolute shit out of Natalie. He would have her naming different types of plants and tree bark, would once more surprise her with his silly little finds like random ass reptiles and animal skulls. He actually gave her a crow skull that she keeps as a necklace. He always said it suited her style. Keep in mind this is all still as them being friends.
They never actually understood what love actually was, and what it meant for the normal everyday person, but they sure showed in. Her live language is physical touch and affection while his was overall the same just also gifts and names. He was a typical loser just trying to remain relevant and liked while she was also just trying to hold onto the little bit of sanity she had left, and he was a good reason to sometimes calm down.
Now of course they had their bad moments where she would let the anger take control and begin to act like a mean old boss at a minimum wage job. It didn't help that Toby was a snarky person and made remarks that only made her even more mad.
“You're literally doing it wrong and it's going to screw everything up!”
“oh please, that's your OCD talking.”
There were occasions where she would get physically violent and throw things at Toby. She actually bloodied his forehead after throwing one of her daggers right at him, being lucky it actually didn't take him out.
These manic episodes usually ended in her apologizing profusely. He never questioned her behavior because he was so used to being mistreated that he only found it to be normal, and always resorted to the question of if he deserved it. Yeah sometimes the mither fucker did deserve it but at the same time.
With Toby however he had just enough willpower to never truly hurt Nat but he would gesture to doing so occasionally when they're having an argument. He'd raise his weapons as if he were to strike or would ball up his fists. He never did lay a violent hand on Nat no matter how angry she would make him or how angry he already was. He's the type of person to completely shut the world out when upset, which was good on her end.
This was for when they were angry however when feeling emotional, like sad for example. He'd want the opposite. His behavior is like how people stereotype most women to be. He'll say he wants to be left alone but throw a fit if you actually did. When he's in this state it's actually dangerous to leave him alone without a distraction. His mind begins to wander and therefore results in a gory mess. He'd unintentionally self harm by chewing at his hands or scratching himself with sharp objects. There's been many times where Nat had to stop him from doing so, both being in tears. She has a past with self harm, which is why she did what she did to her own face, but to see someone she started to genuinely care about do it brought out a whole new side to her.
In short, they're both still internally just kids wanting to survive but on the outside they had to appear tough and ready for anything or else deemed useless and pathetic..
It wasn't until Toby began to question the relationship that it truly became romantic honestly. He knew some things but still did jot grasp the full concept of love. He would tease Nat constantly, flirting if you'd like to call it, and she'd return this behavior, catching him off guard and embarrassing him. This was probably the peak of their relationship.
“So what's it like constantly ticking?”
“i can ask you the same thing”
“shut the fuck up”
I feel they'd constantly play fight, aggressive love language??? Technically one would straight out insult the other but in a playful way while the other wouldn't seem offended but return the same energy. They would definitely do random shit.
It would be a normal busy day and Toby just points out a random squirrel, and if Nat looks at it, he just tackles her. He definitely gets stimmy to the point he would have the human equivalent to zoomies. He'd randomly start love bombing her and hugging her for long amounts of time. He also sometimes does this if he wants something…so it's hard to tell sometimes.
Nat doesn't like the bread crust but Toby would eat that just alone, so i feel like after peeling the crust off her fuckin sandwich she would just out the off in a whole new plate just for him. He eats that shit up every time too.
Nat: “you're so difficult just eat the peanut butter with jelly– that's what NORMAL people do”
Toby:“i hate jelly you know this :(“
Nat: “oh my god give me the damn sandwich.you only peanut butter eating bitch”

How do you think mello would react to a near that's extremely sensitive and vocal in bed?
Thanks for the ask!! Putting this one under a cut since it’s a nsft topic :-)
Honestly, I tend to think this is how Near actually would be. In my mind, he’s not used to much physical contact, so he’s extremely sensitive to touch. I waver a little on how vocal he is but more often than not, I picture him being on the noisier end.
In terms of how Mello would react to this, I personally think he'd love it. Near's reactions and emotional expressions are very subtle, and he often sits facing away from people; in Mello's case, Near doesn't ever look at him directly in canon, unless you count the second-long moment of eye contact when Near threw Mello's photo to him (which only happened in the anime anyway). I think, given his perceived inferiority to Near, Mello would be especially frustrated by Near's outward indifference as it makes him feel unimportant. His life centres around Near; Near is always on his mind and his existence influences the vast majority of Mello's life choices. So, he would interpret Near's lack of responsiveness as damning evidence that he does not matter to Near, and this would be humiliating for him. In my opinion, one of his primary motivations for pulling big, dramatic moves during the Kira case and making deliberate choices that will alert Near to the fact that he's the mastermind behind them (e.g. eating chocolate while on the phone) is just so Near will notice him. It's about having Near recognise his competence, and ideally perceive him as a threat.
Thus, I think it would be beyond satisfying to see Near not just openly reacting to something, but to something that Mello is doing. For him, this is like winning the emotional lottery. It resolves a long-held frustration of his, and he is obviously going to make the most of it. In a sexual context, I think he would for sure play it up, and try to draw out the foreplay just to watch Near squirm. I'm also inclined to believe he would tease Near for how sensitive he is, which ties back to him being embarrassed over the fact that Near supposedly does not acknowledge his existence; he'd like the idea of embarrassing Near in return, and exercising some kind of power over him the way he believes Near has for so many years.

HERE'S THE IDOL AU NOBODY ASKED FOR
Tumblr media
CW for Spoilers + Physical Abuse + Substance Use
This is just an overall collection of the main plot points, but in short:
Despite being wealthy, Geppetto still sees Carlo's desire to be a musician as something too risky childish. He does allow his son to take piano lessons as a hobby, but it's not like he's present enough to make sure Carlo isn't pursuing his dream behind his father's back
(From this point on keep in mind I started creating this before learning that Romeo and Carlo were indeed childhood friends so me and my friend just assumed R was Geppy's first prototype)
Unfortunately, during one day of late night hours, Carlo decided to stand up for himself and steal his father's car to drive to an audition, but ended up in a crash and in a coma soon after. While unconscious, Geppetto's opinion on the matter goes to another extreme, using his resources and influences to intrude himself in the music industry and turn himself into a producer who could give Carlo the career his son deserved to have
His first "test subject" is Romeo, an orphan boy with immense talents that takes this opportunity thinking it would be a wish granted to him, but soon he finds himself suffering under Geppetto's extreme pressure to mold him into a "perfect star" to ensure he'd be able to do the same to Carlo once he woke up (Geppetto knew Carlo would. He had to)
But Romeo breaks. Searching solace in alcohol and drugs to be able to keep up with the intense training and unreasonable expectations. Geppetto could not have such behavior associated with his name, and so he dumps his failed first attempt
It takes a little (long) time for "Carlo" to finally wake up, with no memories and reborn in a way. He ends up preferring to be referred to as the late young man's stage name in the making, "P". After all, Pinocchio had been his favorite fairytale
P doesn't particularly care about learning the piano again, nor does he have such ambitions of stardom. But Carlo had, so he had to as well. He was Carlo, in Geppetto's mind he was, and so he undergoes all the same training his father spent so long crafting exclusively for him
He hears that name one day, "Romeo", as a cautionary tale. A boy his father had opened his house to and ended up turning into a junkie. Ungrateful bastard, unlike P. Unlike Carlo
But once the first teasers and interviews start rolling up, it is this "black sheep" who tries to warn P about Geppetto's toxic mentality. But if P acknowledged that, he'd also have to face the fact his father only saw him as someone who didn't exist anymore, waiting for the "real Carlo" to finally come back if pushed hard enough
Tumblr media
But things do escalate
Hard
And quick
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You are not my son! You're only a puppet wearing his face"
Also P and Romeo find comfort on reach other idk
Tumblr media
+ Something something P manages to sneak behind Geppy's back just like Carlo did and records this as his debut single in a way of rebellion and to cut ties with his father, finding a true love for music but not the kind that Carlo did and what Geppetto thought was the "right one" for him

I’m not sure if you’ve heard of this theory/trope but it’s one I’ve heard throughout my years in the fandom but it’s basically served in crumbs because that’s how rarely I’ve heard it.
The theory/trope is basically that Starscream is Megatron’s son, whether biological or adopted, and given how their canon relationship is like it’s an extremely fucked ‘father and son’ dynamic.
Depending on the continuity, Starscream both wants Megatron’s approval and for him to be gone, but no matter what continuity, Starscream knows that deep down he can never be Megatron or inspire the same loyalty and fear as he does. Basically acts the way almost every person who grew up with daddy issues acts.
Then in comes Megatron’s hybrid bitlet. Megatron doesn’t treat them the way he treats Starscream, his first child. Megatron is firm and strict with them but never lifts a hand to them and rarely raises his voice at them and doesn’t subjugate them to the same humiliation and abuse that he does with Starscream.
Starscream rarely sees the child (Megatron keeps his SIC far away from the apple of his eye and when he isn’t there to enforce it, Soundwave sure as hell does) but on the rare occasions that he has, he can see the how protective and territorial Megatron gets over them, but also how much he cares and loves them (in his own way, of course).
It very much a gives “-that means she was always capable of change, but I just wasn’t worth changing for” and “we may have the same parent but we had very different childhoods.”
Oh yeah, I've seen takes on it. It's been a while, though. It was slanted as a Megatron was a father-figure to a grieving prince (major political leverage) or direct spark-kin as an explanation why he never kills Starscream after multiple assassination attempts.
There are multiple ways to go about this scenario:
Treatment based on Megatron's future plans. Starscream is supposed to be his heir and needs that cruel edge to be the Decepticon leader, but his hybrid sibling is slotted for a perhaps different role? Fostering political ties via matrimony? An ambassador to be their voice on a galactic stage?
Treatment based on how they come into Megatron's hands. Think of it as cultural differences and age he stepped into the role of father. If he actually sparked an Elite Vosian noble, then it would be a mess. As in Megatron didn't even know about his son's existence and Starscream doesn't know his sire, only the shadow of his carrier getting sparked with a single sparklet (bad omen among the Vosians) and following his carrier on her assignments as a diplomat to other city-states. A teenage!Starscream of a high-caste will not get along with Megatron's everything. He's absolutely dismayed that his carrier would sigh fondly or sharply reprimand Starscream is "exactly like your sire!" No, he isn't! Meanwhile, hybrid sibling was born into Megatron's hands and doesn't know anything else but the ship.
Treatment based on biological quirks. I imagine that Seekerkin sparklings tend to be aggressive and prone to outbursts to their age mates because they're attempting to establish a hierarchy among them, and an overactive prey-drive still settling as they differientiate kin, strangers that are neutral, and unknown hostiles. It's the duty of overwatching adults to make sure the scraping doesn't get too out of hand and draw the boundaries of what is and isn't acceptable in play. Megatron is a damn tank/gun, and neither of them do that. So he thinks he had a wild, unruly child who was trying to savage the living daylights out of any playdate. Hybrid sib, on the other hand, has a shorter lifespan running against them. Plus, are they starting off as a human or a newspark? Do they switch in-between? Are they a tiny newborn that Megs need to mass displace down to even let them hold his pinky finger?
Difference based on health. Sibling isn't well. Megatron keeps them far away from everyone else due to their fragility. Megatron allows himself to be softer because there is no guarantee they will reach adulthood, let alone lead any part of the forces.

my personal interpretation of Eggman and SAGE’s relationship is that unlike his other creations, he treats her like a doll.
You don’t hurt dolls, you treat them nicely, dress them to your liking. You can do whatever you want with them, and they’ll never fuss or cry because they can’t. SAGE is even a step above most dolls, because Eggman programmed her to be able to protect him and do his bidding. He made himself the perfect idealized daughter, so, like a child with a baby doll, he acts more like a parent with her.
Meanwhile, SAGE acts like a human the more the game progresses. She genuinely loves Eggman and sees him as a parental figure and his other creations as her brothers, so she wants to do everything to please him and their little “family”. However, she’s still a very new AI who probably has very limited knowledge on how a family is supposed to work, and her programming will probably keep her extremely devoted to Eggy no matter what. It’s a relief she isn’t a real human, because if she wasn’t, Eggman would have disposed of her quickly.
Basically it’s a fun dynamic of an AI that is slowly becoming more and more human and her human creator that only likes her as how he programmed her. That is my favorite kind of Eggdad.
Oh yeahhh, I really love this take on it. While Eggman is attempting to play into the dynamic so he can take pride in his creation/daughter as her genius creator/father that made that impressive skilled scientific artifical life all possible and to play into Sage's desire for family to keep her loyal, I can see it as coming off as an eerie superficial performance, as he bases it on what his perception of love and family is through what he's observed through others and attempts to replicate, but it's through his own egotistical selfish lense and his desire for perfection.
He doesn't feel it in a deep warm cute way, it's in a twisted way where he feels ownership for her like she's an object, and wants control over how she acts as he wants her to be loyal and serve him in the exact way he desires and gets mad when she doesn't, and he wants control over how she looks as he dresses her up because she has to look exactly how he wants to (this is also canon with the Sonic Channel art because he dislikes how she looks without shoes) so that way it can come across as playing pretend as a father with a doll instead of something realistic.
And it's subtly messed up, which is the important part. The only time I see Eggman treating Sage outright badly when she hasn't done anything is when/if he decides he's done with her and finds the next greatest creation to move on to, which I explored in a concept. But as long as she still has use to him, he's going to try to keep her sweet and praise her, except for when he's mad at her in the same ways he was in Frontiers, but that's because he knows it's in a way that won't break her loyalty and will only make her work harder to please him.
He has always seen the world as his playground to own and rule and the people as his playthings to do with as he pleases, usually in a degrading blatantly cruel manner. But with Sage it's seemingly sweet and loving like you'd treat a doll but exists on just as disturbing terms. Ties in to his manchild side which he shows a lot even towards Sage when he acts stubborn and has tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants from her. Plus she's the one that cares for and protects him like a parent would a child instead of the opposite.
His idea of parenting is more like a child's perfect make believe play pretend version with toys. She's the doll that has to be perfect and pretty so he can show her off, so he dresses her up and tells her how she will act, what role she plays, and gets to do whatever he wants with her. And he gets to be the parent that shows her off and take pride in her and all the credit for her skill, intelligence, and accomplishments because he's her father/creator and it boosts his ego. But like all toys, the chance of getting broken one way or another isn't impossible.
While Sage wants a genuine familial bond and also bases it on her perception of love and family is through what she observes through others and attempts to replicate it too. But instead of through an egotistical selfish lense and desire for perfection like her father, it's born from genuine selfless feelings and love. She hopes he reciprocates the actual feelings and intentions but he doesn't, he's entertaining them only because he sees the benefits that can come with embracing the role, the bragging rights, the usefulness in keeping her loyal.
The difference between the way she was pre Sonic influence- the way she was originally created to be by Eggman's own design, compared to how human she becomes when she learns more about love and family through Sonic and friends, plus Eggman's actual conditions on finally accepting the dynamic being what Sage could do for him, which were the things he already created her to do in the first place speaks volumes. The way she protects, serves and is loyal and also scientifically advanced enough for him to show off is where the appeal is for him.
It's true that he still likes and praises her specifically for things she already did as a mostly emotionless, cold, purely professional AI that protected and served him well. The reason he accepts the dynamic is for the extra impressiveness of how life like she is and bragging rights and credit as her father/creator. Still valuing these traits of hers in particular could play a part in treating her like a doll instead of a person as she goes from a tool to toy to him, anything but an actual human being the way she actually feels.
But Eggman can easily make sure she doesn't quite realize what she's missing and what's different to the traditional father and child dynamic. As long as he performs it at all, despite how shallow and superficial his take on it is, her being accepted as the daughter she wants to be and getting to call Orbot and Cubot her brothers, and him being proud of her when she does what he wants, she's happy. And she's undyingly loyal without it anyway, as she already was by design and purpose before her development. It's just that it was recontextulized for her.
Meanwhile Eggman's intentions and reasonings for liking and praising her stays the same, and he's going to do anything in his power to maintain the enthusiasm and loyalty he built her to have, that was only further strengthened by the human feelings she applied to it. But if she ever did somehow stray as she becomes more human, despite being highly unlikely as she wouldn't want to leave him, they'll always be a limit, it can stop when Eggman wants it to because as a program, she can be altered at will. He can make sure she'll always be his doll, pretty, useful, obedient, and scientifically impressive that gets him the attention he wants, in ways that real children aren't. How sweet... :)
Eggman being the actual flesh and blood human but only being able to do it like a play pretend performance, compared to the artificial Sage who wants a real family. Eggman being the adult but a manchild and it showing in his more childish approach like a child with a doll, compared to her being the "child" but having a more mature and serious approach by looking at it like a serious family. That's a really interesting compare and contrast. It reflects the important assets of their characterization and intentions in the dynamic really well!

Scarlet Rosebud
Tumblr media
Scarlet Rosebud Chaos-Shy "Oh please don't say that, you are anything but a mistake, you are perfect the way you are and you have ponies who care so very deeply for you, I care, you're my friend and I'll stand by you no matter what."
Nicknames: Rosebud - by everyone. Scarlet - by family and friends. Buddy - by Screwball. Rosie - by Toasted Marshmallow S'more.
Parents: Fluttershy and Discord
Species: Pegasus-Draconequus hybrid - Dracpony
Age: 20
Voice: Dee Dee Magno-Hall
Birthday: September 14th ♍
Place of Birth: Ponyville/Ponyville General.
Place of Residence: Ponyville/Fluttershy's Cottage.
Special Talent: Nurture
Personality: Scarlet Rosebud is a kind, caring and motherly soul, who just wants to comfort ponies and help them with their problems; because of this she can come off as overprotective and a bit too mushy-gooshy at times. She at first glance is upbeat, optimistic, and playful, and can come off as a bit clueless to insults or mockery when they are directed at her, but when she does figure it out, she won't hesitate to defend herself. She can have a huge temper, powerful bark and intimidating essence when those she loves are being threatened.
She, like her mother, loves animals, and like her father, has chaotic powers. She doesn't use her magic much and when she does it's for trivial things, not causing mischief. She uses her powers for good only, known to like to do things traditionally as opposed to magically - though she is a pacifist, she has used chaos magic on bullies when she was a filly, but as she matured, she began to realize there are better ways to deal with them.
She is very understanding of emotions and takes her job as a nurturer seriously, for she just can't stand seeing any-creature or animal in distress, physically or emotionally, often acting as a personal therapist to those who confide in her, so in that way, she takes the job of both a motivational speaker and a shoulder to cry on, which all ties into her Special Talent, being a nurturing, caring person. She is amazing with kids, adults, and animals alike and makes her mother very proud.
Relationships:
Fluttershy: Scarlet Rosebud is very close to many ponies, and is especially close with her mother. Fluttershy is the one that taught her, her whole life to be kind, caring, and fair to everyone, even those who want to harm you - that last part she usually brushed off as a filly, but as she got older, she realized Fluttershy was right. She often helps her mother at the sanctuary and is usually the one in charge of calming and comforting the new arrivals.
Discord: Her relationship with Discord is uncertain at best. They were extremely close when she was a filly and he would teach her to control her unpredictable chaos magic in her young age. Rosebud enjoyed doing magic with him to no end, but as she grew older she grew into a more laid back and mature mare and her chaotic powers became more of a helping hoof to lie back on when needed; she is more pony than draconequus, so she does not feel the urge to cause randomness and does not need to cause chaos to exist.
Her and Discord bonded over magic, but now that she's older, Discord feels they are growing apart, which is not Rosie's intent, it's just that now that she is an adult, she has a responsibility to the town's ponies and the animals in the sanctuary and they have so little in common that she just hasn't gotten the chance to really spend quality time with him and find common interests, despite this, she loves him dearly and he loves her to pieces, they'll get there eventually.
Screwball: She and her half-sister Screwball share a dynamic sisterly relationship. The two will hang out, Rosebud will laugh and amuse over Screwball's crazy antics, and Screwball will encourage her to show off her magic and embrace the chaos that runs through her veins, which Rosie would rather not, but does it for her sister. They are polar opposites but close as close can be. Screwball did practically raise her, as in she took on a guardian role much like a third parent: she would babysit when both Fluttershy and Discord were away, and she helped and watched her grow up her whole life, loving her as much as if they were sisters by blood.
Cottencandy Raincloud: Her little brother is a shy one, socially awkward, self-depricating, and lacking in confidence. No pony knows how to help him despite Fluttershy and Discord's efforts and to their dismay. Rosebud is determined to make him happy, get to the roots of the problem and fix it. She's the only one he really opens up to and they are extremely close. Progress is slow, but Raincloud always seems happier and more at ease when with his big sister.
Honeycrisp: Her and Honeycrisp have a quiet yet close friendship. When they're alone together they enjoy just sitting quietly watching the clouds, taking walks, or sometimes Rose helps him with his chores on the farm. When she's with him, she sees a whole new side of him, a gentle, caring, and even kind stallion, though he tries to muddle it with his usual snark. She also sees how sensitive he really is, and she's the only one he seems to open up to. He has cried on her shoulder once or twice, but don't tell him I told you~
Toasted Marshmallow S'more: Her relationship with Toasted Marshmallow is filled with an assortment of sweet playful banter, a shared love of telling bad jokes, and supporting each other through thick and thin. Rosebud feels strange and happy around him, when given a chance he is actually a very pleasant pony to be around and he listens to her problems like she does with Crispy, him being one of the only ponies she can express her worries with without feeling like she's failing at being the emotionally stable one of the group.
They like to hang out one-on-one and with friends, when they're together she acts as a practice audience for his comedy proformance before he shares it with others, making suggestions and giving out inspiration. They are definitely the best of friends and have known each other literally since they were born - seriously, they were born on the same day in the rooms across from each other.
Strawberry Sundae: Being Toasty's brother and also born on the same day as her, Rosie is also best friends with Strawberry Sundae. She thinks him so sweet and fun to be around, finding herself continually amused by his antics and bad prank attempts, but taking him seriously when it's clear something is serious to him, even if it might not seem so to others. She has sort of taken him on as a baking apprentice, since he needs all the help he can get and she's quite good at it herself, and she believes he gets better at it every time — might be a bit too optimistic there.
Pastel Prismarine: Though she still finds Prismarine extremely difficult, they are good friends. Rosie is always trying to teach Prism to be more calm and chill out, have fun, maybe not intimidate everyone who gets on her nerves, the last part has been getting better, but her troubled friend is not one to willingly accept her more psychiotrist-y attempts at trying to help Prism out of her aggressive habits. She won't give up on the troubled pegasus though, and stays patient with her through it all.
Diamond Crest: She and Diamond Crest are good friends. Rosie goes to her to use her motivational speaking on the skittish unicorn, but it seems no matter what she does, she can't get Diamond to finally face her biggest fear: telling her mother Rarity that she wants nothing to do with the fashion business. Besides this, they like hanging out, but both find it more fun when the whole group is together.
Prince Meteorite Star: She has heard of Meteor Star, as he's her honerary cousin, but hasn't met him yet.
Extra:
When Scarlet Rosebud was born, she caused the electricity to flicker and cracked the windows in the hospital room.
Rosebud is deathly afraid of heights like her mother, but she is actually a swift flyer and doesn't mind going as high up as grabbing a cat off the roof or scouting just above the trees, anything higher however is a no-go zone.
She is a total bookworm and can spend hours at the library in the Castle of Friendship.
She actually aspired to be a teacher for awhile, but when she finally got a job as a substitute teacher at the Schoolhouse, she realized it wasn't for her. Why? Well I'll leave that open for the imagination.
Rosie also has a pet rabbit, Persephone, who is one of Angel's grand-daughters. Lovingly calling her Sephie, Rosebud absolutely adores her and would bring her with her everywhere if she wasn't so worried about her getting lost. Sephie is just as rambunctious as her grandfather and prone to running off, but at home is also lazy as hay.
She loves to sing but didn't really gain the skill of it from her parents, she sounds incredibly off-key but sings anyway just because she enjoys it.
Due to rivalling draconequus genes, she is unable to gain a cutie-mark.

ugh i have such mixed feelings about the AI copyright stuff, because like. on the one hand i don't want copyright law to get stronger, that would be bad for literally everyone but the giant corporations. but on the other, i don't trust the current capitalist hellscape of the internet with the total abolishment of copyright. the only reason so many artists were able to prevent people from stealing their stuff to make NFTs and AI art mimics of their work, including my girlfriend, is to wave around copyright. "this art is mine, you don't have permission to sell it." it's why huge corporations have to trick young artists into entering "contests" where they sign away their copyright and produce free labor. imagine a world without copyright where they can just steal anything they see without having to pull some legal loophole bullshit.
personally i would be really scared of thay future - a person or company being able to steal my writing and sell it somewhere else with no repercussions because copyright doesn't exist. like, that's my work that i made, and what i'm trying to make a living doing. i know they can do that anyway, and there will always be people who steal shit for a quick buck, but at least with copyright and DMCA there's at least one (extremely flawed, but effective) resource to safeguard against that if it does happen
i think that while abolishing copyright in the long-run is good (see: everything streaming services and Disney do), i feel like it would only help smaller artists in a world where their art isn't tied to their ability to eat food and pay rent. i just feel like it would matter less in a world that also had a UBI. if that makes sense
idk can someone make a case for me? because i am struggling with the dissonance. it feels like a really "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, where no matter what, the megacorps benefit.

ehehe had to get that out of the way it makes me laugh every time i look at it even though it's my own joke (i am one of like 7 people in the world who actually liked sh4)
i love the idea of silent hill aus and using them as a creative tool to really explore what makes your wol/oc tick in all the ugly ways but i personally feel like im not really clever or creative enough to do it well myself (kind of like konami after they fucked over kojima and made homecoming/downpour AM I RIGHT FELLAS!!) i can say with some certainty he wouldn't handle it WELL, there would be a lot of running away and panic and hiding and praying and swinging a lead pipe EXTREMELY INEFFECTUALLY because that's just how he handles things outside of silent hill too, by running away and hiding and praying. not so much the lead pipe maybe, that's a contrivance. :)
but i think primarily coconeja's biggest problem is his insecurity and his inability to really self-actualize and believe in himself as someone who matters in the world and how he just wants so badly to be what he thinks everyone else wants him to be, instead of just accepting himself for who he actually is. i think then some of the manifestations would be twisted versions of himself, or rather all the coconeja's he wishes he were but fails to be. and since it's a flawed premise to begin with, there is no "ideal" coconeja, they would all sort of be half-formed, misshapen things. pathetic grotesqueries. but with flavors!! the coconeja he thinks yshtola wants, who is clever and worldly - but physically weak and has to drag itself along the ground and oozes ink and has all the answers - but can only speaks backwards in riddles the coconeja he thinks thancred wants, who is quick on his feet and graceful and confident - but has no substance, and barely exists, and can only sort of shift ineffectually in and out of existence miserably the coconeja he thinks his parents wanted, which is just a sad little shadow who sits in a dark room full of dead fish all alone and counts, endlessly
you know!! stuff like that!! so on and so forth. a whole bunch of fucked up little coconeja ghoulies, so messy, so miserable, so gross.
oh and yea i guess there's the wedge thing; but joke photoshops aside he really deep down truly does not see wedge as anything other than good or as something that could ever hurt him. he loves wedge, and all the pain and the longing and the loneliness - all that baggage comes from inside, from him. he doesn't blame or resent wedge at all!! so if wedge did show up i don't think it would be as a monster i think it would be more conceptual. like something coconeja's searching for, or trying to reach, but can't. haunting this particular narrative in a way even though he's not dead.
although the more i think on it - while wedge himself is not at fault coconeja is REALLY AFRAID AND AWARE of how his status as the wol affects others, especially people he cares about, and how it can get them hurt or put them in danger. and i mean thats literally what happened with omega. compounding factor here that he thinks confessing or pursuing wedge in the way he wants WOULD hurt him and is wrong and like, not even doing anything but knowing he WANTS to - the shame and the guilt really do be eating him up.
mm like he really internalizes the fact that it's him, wanting wedge as something inherently wrong and hurtful and something to keep secret and locked away. in reality its BECAUSE he cares so much and would never do anything to hurt wedge, but has such a low opinion of himself and is terrified of the idea that just by having these feelings at all he's already ruined everything. idk im going in circles here. this particular aspect of coconeja is very stupid and hard for me to articulate lmao
i also think it would be dope as hell if there were just like, a giant godzilla sized flag. i mean you could make it relevant and say like "ohh well the giant godzilla sized flag is a representation of coconeja's inability to connect with people, his best friend is an animal because he's afraid of how he thinks real people won't accept his perceived inadequecies or whatever" and i guess like give him 3 heads and rusty muzzles and fucked up antlers that are just like a constantly twisting mess of human hands grasping at nothing hell throw in a bunch of rotting lunar tears all over him so i can even shoehorn the nier raid stuff in there and that's sort of coconeja's pyramid head figure, always just sort of looming off in the distance, watching, being a physical reminder of his fear and self-loathing and doubt
and of course as far as the actual silent hill itself, gotta go with the CLASSIC foggy town. or not so much a town, but the streets of uldah completely devoid of the hustle and bustle that defines it. it's cold and it's empty and it's rotting and it's quiet (aside from coconeja wailing his fool head off as he's running away from himself and swinging a rusty lead pipe at nothing)
anywho, thanks again for the ask!! thank you!! thanks!!

I’m sorry if you’ve answered this before as I’m new to the blog (and really enjoying your thoughts!!) but I have a Jason question for you. What’s your opinion on the whole fanon pit madness stuff the fandom seems obsessed about with Jason? I personally hate it because I think it’s problematic and often times veers into abuse apologism as well as flattening his character (and not being canon lol) but I’m super interested to hear your opinions!
no need to apologise, i mentioned it and interacted with many different takes on the topic, but never made a more articulate post about it on my own, so it's nice to have a pretext to do so. especially that my opinion doesn't really reflect any of popular stances on the topic in the fandom. this got very long, but: tldr; i don't like neither canon nor fanon depictions of how the lazarus pit affected jason, but there might be still something of value there. there's lots to talk about though; i refer to aspects such as ableism and the lazarus pit lore in wider dc universe. more under the cut:)
i addressed this many times, but the general assumption that the pit madness is purely fanon is actually not true. while it was never explicitly named in jason-centric comics, it is a prevalent theme in most of his pre-n52 appearances. there's, for example, tony daniel's interview, where he talks about it, and some editorial comments on the matter. the titans towers incident was supposed to happen under the pit's influence as well.
the fact that it appears in comics that used to constitute canon doesn't make it any better, but to the editorial boards' credit, it's not really relevant anymore. yet, the events tied to the concept remain popular in the fandom.
i know that many people focus on the abuse apologism angle when talking about it, and while it is a valid concern, i'm more worried about... the blatant ableism that it comes with. i talked about it briefly here and here, tldr: jason is also portrayed to be going through a (pit-induced) psychotic breakdown, as he has clinical delusions. and in this state – a state of extreme mental health crisis, he is shown to attack rather random targets (because, i'm sorry, tim is a random target given jay's general motivations). this is an extremely distasteful plotline that contributes to SMI stigma. so, to reiterate, what i'm saying is that maybe we should not spend our time perpetuating the idea that being "crazy" or "insane" is excessively used to excuse abuse, but rather ask why dc writers even tied these notions together?
needles to say, i'm not a fan of how the madness trope is used in jason's storyline, not really because i'm worried about whether he is held responsible for his actions – it's not like half of these actions would be committed if not for the vague notion of the lazarus interference combined with the ableist representation of psychosis.
and if you read more of my meta posts, maybe you noticed a common thread in how i like to headcanon that jason needed to actively suppress his innate compassion (known from his original robin run) as a form of self-sacrifice, and painstakingly forge himself into a weapon despite flinching at his own violence. i also tend to emphasise the circumstances of his resurrection, his trauma and his desperate dedication to fixing the world as his main motivations. and the pit madness doesn't exactly go well with those.
having said so, i think there is some space for layering this with the effects of the lazarus pit, and i can't imagine completely getting rid of it when it comes to jason's storyline as a whole. i think people sometimes forget that lazarus pits have been a part of dc comics' lore for much longer than jason's character even existed. i haven't read the recent realeses (i will be catching up soon), so i'm not sure what the writers are doing with them nowadays, but the whole point of the pools is that the power of healing, preserving youth (or even resurrecting fresh corpses to life in some versions) is supposed to come at price. this price has to make at least a crack in the user's humanity. it was previously referred to as for example a "lazarus fever," and usually was followed by even just temporary episode of rage. (i've read it a long time ago, but you might want to check out for example "the lazarus affair," a storyline from early 80s). and well, it would pose some difficulties to explain how jason is running and kicking without being exposed to the pit (unless you want to say that whatever resurrected him healed him completely or that he spent more time recovering, fair game), and the pit has to have some consequences. the tragedy of it is, of course, that he was not put in there consensually, and he would never want to compromise his humanity nor control were he given that choice. so it has to have at least some effect on his state, at least for a while, unless we want to throw world-building out of the window (which you can do, if that's your preference.)
i guess the question is, can we do anything with this element of the story so that it doesn't hinder the significance of other prominent forces, such as grief? maybe it's not that bad that the story isn't straightforward. i know that lots of people like to claim that jason is completely autonomous, but aren't the circumstances of his resurrection already affecting him to the point where a hint of "who's driving" body horror is implied? isn't he struggling with feelings of losing control, which also make him so fixated and methodical? and maybe there is something to be said about the potential internal conflict of wanting to detach himself further from everything that makes him alive and humane (as it makes him vulnerable) vs being desperate to reclaim what the pit has taken from him. i don't know. what i know is that the reverse-baptism lazarus imagery is quite appealing and that maybe all the talk about it helps to bridge the extreme gap in 80s robin -> modern red hood characterisation, by outsourcing at least some of his anger to be foreign to him in an uncanny way.
but then again, it's also not my favourite theme, and i definitely don't centre it in my reading, nor gravitate to interpretations that do. you could even say that the pit influence was very short-lived and didn't matter in the grand scheme of things at all (apart from adding up to a pile of jay's trauma), and it would probably make sense with how inconsistent comics are anyway. i definitely don't want to see any outward psychotic symptoms in it's portrayal, nor for it to render jay irrational to the point where mindless violence overrides all of his motivations (like it did in many books before and as it usually does in fanfiction). however, i still think that it's interesting to look at the narrative in a wider scope and consider what i mentioned.

You said ask questions and THUSLY I SHALL >:D 1) How do you personally see Lan's view on those who stride in their path? Are they capable of any form of feelings for their people (if they are indifferent like Qlipoth or removed from understanding like Yaoshi OR can tangentially understand human feelings in an unnatural self serving way like Aha) or have all former traces of who they were been erased and consumed by the HUNT itself?
2) We know Aeons can "die" by either being assimilated by another or being killed etc. But do you think there is a possibility that even Aeons aren't invulnerable towards the concept of "corruption" or "existential destruction"? For example: Lan's perpetual instinct to hunt is fueled indirectly by the continued existence of stellarons, Yaoshi's abominations, Nanook etc. But, what were to happen to them if there is nothing else left to hunt (as improbably as it may seem)? People can adapt and change to times of peace. But could they? Is it even possible?
About Lan. Always accepting! | @grislyintentions
HI YES FINALLY GETTING TO THESE THINGS I ASKED FOR A HOT MINUTE AGO!!
So to address the first question: Lan's view of people who stride on THEIR path and Lan's view on the Xianzhou are very distinct and must be separated. Take the Galaxy Rangers, for example— they are more or less to Lan what the Annihilation Gang is to Nanook. They may follow Lan's philosophies or worship THEM but it doesn't mean Lan is particularly invested in them, unless an exceptional Ranger attracts THEIR attention. I cannot say that any feelings tied to THEIR past has been erased, because otherwise THEY would not invest so much into the Xianzhou Alliance, but no doubt these feelings have been warped and exaggerated to certain extremes upon Lan's ascension to Aeonhood. THEY care as far as investment goes, ensuring the survival of the Hunt and its goals, and on that front you could probably say THEY are closest to Aha or Nous in terms of care; very self-serving, but due to the nature of the Xianzhou striding so closely along the Path of the Hunt, the Alliance benefits from THEIR self-interest so it doesn't necessarily seem all self-interested. To say that Lan can hold compassion for any one individual feels... difficult. Loyalty? Yes. Favoritism? Certainly, that's how the Arbiter-Generals came to be as they are now in the first place. I think my favorite way the extent of Lan's "care" has been described by anyone is: Lan is not prone to possessiveness; however, THEY do not cede what is THEIRS. And the Xianzhou, particularly the Arbiter-Generals, are THEIRS. To that extent, THEY will invest as much as THEY can into THEIR generals that give THEM voice.
Onto the second: I've thought about this a lot, and I've actually alluded to it I believe in a prior thread with Starry's Luocha. I am fully of the belief that when there is no longer anything to hunt — not if, when, no matter how distant that future may be — Lan will cease to exist. The Path of the Hunt will remain open, of course, as a Path's concept never ends with the Aeon's death or destruction, but THEY will most certainly die as THEIR purpose becomes extinguished. I don't imagine it to be a very spectacular incident, like with Tayzzyronth's death, unless Lan is somehow killed. Rather, I see it as THEM steadily growing weaker until they fade out of relevance entirely, fully vanishing once the last prey has been hunted. It's an ironically peaceful end of existence to something so destructive and ruthless.

Could you talk more about male fairies please?
Ok in all honesty I was looking for an ask that wanted me to elaborate on body issues and male fairies following my post way back about Radius, but I was having more general thoughts anyway. I hope you don't mind.
Ever since the invention of sorcery, fairy magic has been stamped off as the more emotional magic art in contrast to rational sorcery. Emotions and rationality, two sides of a whole, have become juxtaposed and in turn associated with gender roles. Emotions are a feminine thing, while being rational was overtly masculine. Fey magic became a predominantly feminine art as less and less men/ masculine people took up the trade, out of fear of being ridiculed.
In modern times still, there are more sorceresses than there are male fairies: the bias against them just doesn't offer the kind of male bias in a female dominated field that we are used to in our world.
(The extreme ties to femininity also dissuades many gender non-conforming women from pursuing fey magic.)
Men who take up fey magic often have to deal with rumors about their claimed impotence, "small dick", or have their gender speculated about, with assumptions of them being closeted trans women.
This gets even harder when you add non-conventional bodies into the mix. Transformations represent an idealised body, covering blemishes and scars unless the user wields it so that it doesn't. Idealised in connection with femininity often means thin, fair and hairless, which is antithetical to how many men like to represent.
Then there is the issue of flight. Fairies are meant to present as graceful, gentle and loving (and lovable in turn); and people get so up in arms about it when this is applied to a fat body. It becomes the bumblebee paradox of little wings on a heavy body.
The term "bumblebee" for fat/chubby fairies actually stems from parents' kind words to their children: "The others may be wasps, but you are my darling little bumblebee". Many children found strength in these words until the "in" group caught wind of it and the term was used to pester and bully fat fey magic users, ridiculing them. (Some people do refer to themselves as bumblebee in reclamation of the word, but it's a matter of personality and how serious one takes oneself bc it does come off as youthful/childish).
So if plain acceptance is not possible, what else can fat magic users do? Conform? Fat people are already forced to perform their gender at a level of perfection beyond critique to be afforded dignity. In the case of fey magic this gets even more complicated for fat men since the art is entrenched in femininity and being effeminate is almost inextricably linked to being youthful, thin and waif-ish: essentially being the quintessential twink. It is no coincidence that gender non-conforming gay men often chose fey magic. But where does that leave fat men who need to present masculine in broader society, yet feminine in connection to their art?
There are certainly men who lean into masculinity wholly and eschew any connection to femininity. Others as said above are all for embracing their feminine side, but often those people are also effeminate in general. Again others see it as a performance (think drag). Gender expression is malleable and a craft that can be formed and re-formed as one needs. It is just a matter of personality, preference and self-confidence in detangling oneself from the societal expectations. Radius, simply by existing so self-unashamedly in such a high position of power has set new standards and became a role model for many young fey magic users, regardless of gender.
