See, I personally headcanon that Emmet has had a lot of built up anger and negativity for years even before the first Lego movie that he never really expressed, mostly due to his trauma of being subjugated to act certain ways.

I mean in the first movie, we can already see within the first few minutes that he always was the odd one out despite doing his best to follow all the rules.He also never had any friends due to his generic and ‘forgettable’ qualities. So considering the fact that the moment he actually made some friends, he is obviously going to be really happy because he’s finally not alone anymore! But they still constantly wanted him to ‘Change’ in one way or another. 

During the first movie they outwardly voiced how incompetent they thought he was and undermined all of his ideas, thinking that they were too average or not good enough to save everyone. You could clearly see how insecure and upset he would get from these comments too (Poor baby). Then during the second movie, they constantly wanted him to ‘toughen’ up and change with the times (Ironic, since he was originally demeaned for fitting in too much, but now he just has to fit in).

So that’s like at least like 20 years of built up anger that he has never expressed in a healthy way to anyone. 

So it’s rather obvious that after all of these comments and seeing how easily his friends ‘left him behind’ to finally make Emmet snap and let out all of these built up negative emotions, especially his anger, which is how he is able to be a master breaker (I mean, Rex even directly said to Emmet that you have to be connected with tons of negative emotions to be able to master break things).

God I always feel so bad for Emmet, he gets friends, but they end up being really shitty to him, and then it takes the world ending to realise he’s fine the way he is.
