Sorry if this is too broad question but could you share some recs of books/articles/readings about fairytales and/or folkloristics? It's one of those subjects I've always been interested in but I'm never sure how to find good readings for it 😅 On a similar note, do you happen to have a goodreads/storygraph acc and would you be ok with strangers following you? so far i have read the case of peter pan, or the impossibility of children’s fiction by jacqueline rose and i'm in the middle of off with their heads: fairytales and the culture of childhood by maria tatar. i tried to read princess floralinda and the forty flight tower but it was really doing NOTHING for me sorry tzmuir nation.. feel free to tell me if the ending makes it worth it or smth

on my pile: phillip pullman's edition of the grimm fairytales, fairytales by robert walser, the book of goose by yiyun li, morphology of the folktale, and the classic fairytales ed. maria tatar.

i am also getting a lot out of gothic studies which i think dovetails nicely with fairytale analysis; i recently read and enjoyed gothic incest by jenny diplacidi and the contested castle by kate ferguson ellis is next on my list. also upcoming: skin shows / gothic horror and the technology of monsters by jack halberstam, gothic queer culture by laura westengard, and queer gothic by george haggerty.

finally, i have been going back to reread authors whose plots and prose give me fairytale vibes; this is not really based on anything besides general themes of horror, domestic terror, and the violence/beauty nexus, but ive gotten a lot out of rereads of the bluest eye and the handmaid's tale and am planning to reread we have always lived in the castle next. i also want to read deerskin by robin mckinley!

Last Song: i got carried away answering this because i have a lot of thoughts okay SORRY. im a big kate bush fan and i've been listening to this kate bush tribute concert on repeat recently. its insane to hear her songs with like a whole orchestra performing them its INSANE okay its so good.

i wont forgive them for kinda fumbling whats probably my fave kate bush song (sat in your lap, which is a very frantic and all over the place type song. i have no idea what type of direction they were trying to go with for their version of it, but all of the charm and chaos of it is lost both in the way of the orchestral arrangement and the vocal performance) or the goofy vocal choices they make in hounds of love. my small grievances aside though, i do love a lot of the fun new directions they take a lot of the songs (their version of babooshka is so much fun) and i have straight up bawled to this concerts performance of this womans work before on multiple occasions (its at 21:10 if you care to cry with me)

hiiii mel :) i haven't read a whole lot bUT i did read a poetry collection by octavio paz semi-recently. i will forever be going insane over elegy for a friend dead at the front in aragon. my favorite part was "you have died, comrade / in the burning dawn of the world / you have died, just as your world / our world, has barely dawned / you used to carry it in your eyes, in your chest / in the unyielding expression of your mouth / a clear smile, a pure dawn... i imagine you shot in the mudflats / maskless, smiling / touching, now without touch / the comrade hands you dream / you have died among yours and for yours." i definitely recommend the book as whole, but that poem was my favorite.

i got abt halfway thru the fifth child by doris lessing & i've liked it so far but it is very strange. definitely an interesting read & i have a feeling it's abt to go totally off the rails.

i read the first book of this comic called saga my best friend let me borrow & i haven't gotten around to the rest yet. it was pretty good, a bit more sci-fi than i'm usually into but i'll definitely finish when i have more free time

as always i'm off-and-on re-reading the wheel of time series. ive been obsessed w it since i was 12 years old & i rlly cannot recommend it enough. it's 14 huge fantasy books so it's a big commitment but totally worth it methinks. the new show adaptation on prime has caused a resurgence of it here on tumblr which i've very much enjoyed. for the longest time no one else i knew had even heard of it so that's been cool.

yeah sure! ive been reading quite a bit lately, mainly horror and disturbing books/mangas so obviously trigger warnings for those ones i can elaborate on specific ones if u ask but i'll keep it short... iunno what specifically you might want so i'll just shoutout my favs recently

Berserk has been the latest manga ive been reading, probably one of the hardest ones to read bc its VERY sad and disturbing but is an incredible story nonetheless. i am not phased easily by written stuff but berserk was the first thing to have a scene that i had to look away from so proceed with caution... Berserk is interesting bc it has Nietzschean tragedy themes and structure, portraying a world where evil and pain happens for no reason despite humans fearing not pain but pain without purpose, but it also holds a sense of compassion and realism to both the good and bad, exemplifying how Nietzsche saw tragedy as beneficial to enjoying and valuing the good parts of life. Sorry this got long but a lot of horror stuff i feel can be boiled down to "Super fucked up bad things happen in it" which doesnt give the whole scope of how a specific media might handle or portray it, so i wanted to explain how it feels to me, rather than just saying its gratuitous.

Something different is the manga Ultra Heaven! this was like finding gold when i discovered it, its short and unfortunately incomplete but i highly recommend it just for the incredible illustration work and playing with paneling and crazy mind stuff. its written by a guy who does drugs and often points to psychadelics as a heavy influence for his work, and its extremely apparent in this one. if you love beautiful artwork and surrealist mind-fucky narratives (like perfect blue or eva) then i cant recommend this enough.

ok i cant let this get too long ummm Animorphs! throwing a curveball but its still horror, just kid's cosmic horror. and war. and its really good, even tho i read it as an adult for the first time i loved it. actually rlly good commentary on the ethics and grey morality during war. Heres where u can download every book, the megamorphs and alternamorphs are required for the plot btw theyre listed in the order u read them in-between the series books.

A good horror/comedy manga is Franken Fran, i INSTANTLY took to it when i picked it up its my style of dark comedy exactly. i really liked black jack for the episodic chapter style, n this is like black jack but with dark comedy body horror and i love it :3

Back to books... I'll list these together, Come Closer by Sara Gran and Confessions by Kanae Misato. I stayed up all night on two separate nights reading these bc they had me hooked so well lol... I wouldnt call them horror, more like thriller/tragedies. come closer has a great writing style, its a rather sad book about a woman being possessed by a demon, really good sparse prose that emphasizes details. Confessions is just... u gotta go right into it, its GREAT. really intriguing style and premise, love the epistolary format, SO good with details.

The Melancholy of Anatomy by Shelley Jackson, short story compilation. i talked abt it best in this post so i'll link it

Bonding by Maggie Siebert is a great short story horror collection as well, the horror feels like aching and emotionally palpable in it, very well done one of my fav horror books ive read so far.

These next two things are about more abstract writing so dont expect completely clear narratives -w- but I read Amygdalatropolis by B.R. Yeager and i SUPER loved it but i might have to reread it a couple of times to get the hang of it. his newer book Negative Space has good reviews so i'll check it out soon but thats more of a grounded narrative, Amygdalatropolis juggles surrealist imagery, forum text, symbolic elements in a truly hypnotic way.

Umm finally i have been really into books of poetry by Sam Pink lately :)! theyre rather short and like some are more story-related but theyre absurdist and really like, good and resonating in a personal way, i really super enjoy it, i read You Hear Ambulance Sounds And Think They Are For You and a bit of Person and i like them a lot :)

when i read your posts about history, im always in awe about how much you know about history and how, shall i say, in love you are with it. i used to learn a lot about history and was good at it in school but with the course im taking now which is IT, it kinda clashes with history. i also need to make more brain space.

btw, where do you learn all this or whats your source? through books/internet? it amazes me that you know so much. even then there must be more you want to write about in your posts.

also i agree how many people are taking TV shows that based on historical/real figures into facts when most of it are very fiction based. i dont mind them really but a lot of people dont think for themselves. ironically, im currently at the moment writing a small report about "evaluating information". some of the points given in my lecture slides which i think fits so much with these type of people are that 'they are too reliant on technology or other people for them to do their own thinking'. ive seen them give stupid reasoning such as 'well if its based on the real people so a lot of its must be real'. what pains me even more is to know that they're grown adults. sigh. there's so much i want to vent on this but i think u may know what i would want to say since you too and others feel the same about this.

And you are also right that I want to write even more. I would never stop writing and no one has time to read such long posts. Even then, my posts are pretty long. So I am by no means a professional historian but I can tell you my process.

First, I watch a documentary or read a book that is more "popular history-oriented". For me, the Plantagenets documentary by Robert Bartlett is a must watch (Its on Youtube and beautifully made). I also have to buy his new book which seems like a killer! Second, I find more detailed books on the person. For example, in the documentary he talks about Geoffrey of Anjou and it captures my interest. Then I look for a detailed book on Geoffrey. Good books have footnotes and from there I read scholarly articles and look through real archives that I can access online. I am lucky since as a uni student, I have access to these for free through university. I recently found a Victorian source that has the measurements for the supposed bones of Anne Mortimer (Richard III's grandmother!!). Its crazy the kind of things that are out there which you can't even find even in the books. A lot of archival materials can be found for free on archive.org too. I really enjoy looking through the archives and making notes on my conclusions. Blog posts are also great gateways. I read https://murreyandblue.wordpress.com/ religiously and there is also an Edward II blog. I hope this helps you somewhat :D. I can always look up things for you guys if you want. And also Facebook groups are awesome for little trivia and information that you may not know otherwise. I found out that Richard, Earl of Cambridge's (Richard III's grandfather and RoY's father) body had been found in the Victorian times and he was described as a giant with his head placed between his knees.

And I agree. For some reason, fiction dehumanizes them rather than humanizing them. These real living people become caricatures. I can think of them on the top of my head that's how basic fiction writers are. And I doubt this will ever change. But we can still enjoy history in our bubble and give patronizing lectures to those that dare take fiction as truth lol. Thanks once more!! This is really very sweet and made me very happy.

Im supper new to the yandere side of tumbler, and i only just recently found your blog and started reading lost song /love your writing btw, already I’m a big fan ❤️\, but i have noticed one thing that, while not necessarily bad, it does kind of irk me.

Ive already gathered that Aizawa is your favorite MHA husbando and Im not sure if he is end game for Teris in this fic, but it does seem like he’s getting a pass in your book in terms of favoritism from Teris. I came into this story expecting a a love triangle where both Overhaul and Aizawa would ha e equal good and bad traits so that Teris would be able to make an unbiased opinion. But based on the way she seems to justify ALL of Aizawa’s actions or favor him in her mind even after she gets annoyed with them, it seems like the choice is a no brainer. She kind of does this with Overhaul on occasion and lets his shit slide every now and then, but she seems to hang onto his negative qualities more while giving Aizawa a pass for his and excusing his behavior.

I’m not sure if this is your intention, but this is the way I read into it. Please don’t misunderstand me, I LOVE THIS STORY SO MUCH!!! I just think that if your going to play it up like Teris is going to ha e to choose between one or the other in the end, then you should probably work on not showing subtle favoritism for Aizawa and make it more even. And if its not that kind of story, than be up front and state tat she’ll have a relationship with Overhaul, but her and Aizawa will be end game, that way people can know what they’re in for. I still intend to follow this story to the end because it’s just that amazing, but I felt the need to try and point this out in a polite and friendly way so as to come off as critical or rude.

Yeah, Aizawa is one of my two anime husbands.  And as far as him having equal good and bad traits with Kai in this fic, sorry!  That’s not gonna happen.  Though this is an au, Sphinx!Shouta still has a lot of similar duties and history that he has in cannon.  Sphinx!Shouta is a teacher, he’s an Ilca leader (which is essentially Oblvi’s version of specialized forces/heroes).  Not to spoil anything if you haven't read Vigilantes, but the history of young Sphinx!Shouta losing his pack even had lose ties to cannon.  Meanwhile Dragon!Kai likewise has numerous aspects similar to cannon Kai.  Sure he’s an Ilca leader too.  But Kai’s choice of joining the Ilca was FAR different from Shouta’s; and he goes about his duties differently, using his power as Ilca to further his aims to reclaim the lost dragon throne.  Dragon!Kai might not be this fics only or greatest villain, but he’s still a villain.

That said, Teris doesn’t know any of that yet.  And it’s mainly her griffon instincts that keep her wary and have her judging Kai a bit more harshly.  I can’t remember which chapter it was in, but it’s been said that a species feelings and aspects of their rituals eventually become instinct if held/done long enough.  While Kai doesn’t know it, his own instincts are effecting him too.  Though arguably Kai would want to control and see any chosen mate of his bow and obey, whether they were a griffon or not.

As for Teris giving Shouta a pass, they’re ALWAYS arguing, so I can only assume when you say that you mean in her thoughts and feelings. In which case yes, she does.  And I’m SO glad you caught that. There’s an unconscious reason Teris does that.  Chapter13 (which I’m posting today) might shed some light and give a hint as to why.

This fic doesn’t even have a tag saying there’s a love triangle, so I’m not sure how I would go about saying whether the love triangle is equal or not.  Since I’m a writer who likes to leave hints and bread crumbs for readers to find and piece together, I do my best to keep my tags brief with a few basic warnings.  I also personally don’t like long lists of tags, as a reader preferring not to know what a writer has in store for me.

When it comes to the fics end.  Even I’m not totally sure what’s gonna happen yet.  I have a handful of possibilities that I’m thinking through.  This fanfic is part of an original ‘for me’ series on the world of Oblvi which will continue after this fanfic is done.  So depending on where I want to take this world/series after Lost Song is done will have a big part to play in deciding how I end Lost Song.

okay ive been wanting to make a post like this for a while but i wanted to make it an essay and i dont know if i can really organize my thoughts in that way yet, so here’s a chronological bullet-pointed dump to explain my very important thesis:

be more chill is about internalized ableism, and jeremy, michael, and christine are all highly autistic coded. this is going to be very long and detailed but only because there’s a lot of details that work very well under this lens.

there’s probably even stuff i missed but this is already extremely long so it basically just functions as a way for me to collect a bunch of details that i can piece together later in a more coherent manner.

“more than survive” in the context of jeremy being autistic works so much. the theme of wanting to be just socially acceptable enough to not burn out or be harassed is so relatable, and it visually establishes very early how jeremy is isolated from his peers due to his own awkward behavior and hypersensitivity. it’s coupled with his very obvious anxiety disorder, but the social aspect just screams autistic coding to me. i take this song to basically be “not having a meltdown is basically my goal but i would love to be neurotypical enough so i can heighten my standards and actually enjoy my social life.” some choice segments:

“if i’m not feeling weird or super strange, my life would be in utter disarray, cuz freaking out is my okay”

jeremy’s house being a mess is partly due to his dad’s serious depression, yeah, but i believe the other aspect is that jeremy’s executive dysfunction makes it just as hard to clean up in his place

he gets super anxious at the prospect of his expected routine being shaken up and having to make the decision on his own of how to get to school

“so i follow my own rules and i use them as my tools to stay alive” honestly sounds like a euphemism for autism to me

jeremy not really realizing that he’s staring at chloe

“avoiding any eye contact at all” explains itself

michael’s introduction, oh my god, every time i watch this part i just adore it. i could talk a lot more about michael’s autism later but this whole segment sells it especially.

first off, michael keeping his hood up and headphones on in a deliberate attempt to avoid social interaction and stay in his own space is such an autistic mood. even before this scene he’s constantly moving in the background to his music a la stimming. in the later performances he spends a lot more time playing with his hoodie strings and even chews on them!!

the fact he doesn’t talk to or even really look at jeremy until his song is done playing also feels very autistic to me! and the way he dances so confidently and basically pretends even his best friend isn’t there for the time being because he’s engrossed in his own passions.

michael is a great friend but it’s clear that he doesn’t really understand that his coping mechanism doesn’t really work for jeremy, and that even though michael feels confident reclaiming his identity as a ‘loser,’ jeremy doesn’t really feel any better about it. i think a lot of autistic folks, or at least i do, have this tendency to assume what works for us works for everyone around us at first due to our struggles with empathy. michael tries his best but struggles to see outside his point of view. it’s mind-blindness in action and jeremy can’t communicate why it upsets him any better than michael can pick up on it not working for him.

near the end of the song, they have a brief moment where all the ensemble crowds in around jeremy and the lights start flashing, which i interpret as a visual representation of sensory overload.

we’ll talk more about her soon, but outside of jeremy’s fantasies about her, christine also avoids social interaction during this number, constantly hiding her face in a book and avoiding eye contact just as much as jeremy. people forget that she’s not comfortable with unexpected social interaction, and that really informs my headcanon for her which brings us to....

“i love play rehearsal” is an autistic anthem. it also works, possibly even better due to in-text evidence, as an adhd anthem, but combined with the above it makes so much sense for her to be comorbid autism/adhd. i did a breakdown of the song in this context before, but i’ll sum it up here

the song showcases what having a special interest/hyperfixation is like. christine is singing to jeremy, yes, but she really seems so caught up in her own passion without much regard for how jeremy is following it, and even cuts him off from responding to her once or twice because she’s just so hyped up on her own feelings. she also basically implies her happiness is reliant on her special interest which is very relatable.

lines like “you follow a script so you know what comes next” also really sell the interpretation that christine isn’t good in unpredictable situations, and has so many identity issues and likes having something to look to where things are laid out for her. i think that stability is what a lot of autistic people look for, especially teenagers.

also with that in mind, look at how upset she gets watching a play she loves about get rewritten into something weird and new that she doesn’t know.

also gotta love how she still self-isolates before this song by focusing on her book, until she has a reason to infodump to jeremy. and then feels guilty afterwards and goes right back into her book while apologizing for getting “carried away”....biiiig mood there

the whole intro scene showcases both of their awkwardness so much. jeremy gets completely thrown off by her sarcastic comment about the swim team and almost believes it, which implies that he can’t read tone very well. and then christine’s “you’re a virgin” comment comes across like she really didn’t think about how that would sound to jeremy before saying it since she only made the clarification after he was ready to panic about it. she has a habit of speaking before she thinks, i think, the self-harm comment is also very awkward considering she barely knows jeremy.

after that scene we get “more than survive reprise” where jeremy admits to routinely having such bad breakdowns that he needs to step out and go to the nurse which works for both the anxiety disorder and the autism interpretation.

i’m not quite sure whether i see rich as autistic (i see him with a lot of mental issues for sure though) so i can’t say much on “the squip song” but there’s definitely something to describing a confused autistic kid as “almost helpless.” rich definitely has a habit of giving too much information though, i’ll say that.

“two player game” is just jeremy and michael being autistic solidarity: the song. i guess this is a good place to say that jeremy and michael work well as a contrast b/w two sides of autistic community, the side that struggles to function and desperately wants a change bc they’re afraid of being alone forever, and the side that tries to love all their symptoms and embrace their autistic pride. and as coincidental icing on the cake, jeremy wears blue (associated with the derogatory views from autism speaks) and michael wears red (associated with combating said views through autistic pride).

btw you could probably attribute michael’s ability to casually down a long-expired crystal pepsi as a sort of weird sensory quirk. and his fixation w/ that sort of memorabilia honestly feels like a special interest in its own right!

both “nice sideburns....wolverine, right” and “like in x-men????” using fiction as a reference point for real life always gives me autistic vibes (esp the first point where he awkwardly uses it to start conversation). can we assume x-men is a special interest? :3

jake referring to jeremy as a ‘freak’ when the squip turns on is really sad in this context but it also does make so much sense

now we get to the squip.....and what do you know, it uses tactics from abusive therapy used on autistic children. dare i say that “be more chill” as a song isn’t just an abuser’s song, but an ableist’s abuser’s song.

first off, the “spinal stimulation.” here’s a not so fun fact: electroshock therapy has been used to discourage autistic behavior in very recent years. (content warning in link for graphic description of ableist torture)

then the lyrics, in which the squip mostly focuses on jeremy’s posture and physically punishes him for disobeying. jeremy is shown to really struggle to stand up straight and pose himself in a normal, confident way, and i think that tendency to be unaware of what our body is doing is a pretty autistic thing?

the fact the squip singles out stammering and refers to jeremy’s “tics and fidgets” brings attention to two more autistic traits of jeremy’s

the squip basically punishes jeremy for responding “incorrectly” to social situations like rejecting brooke, even if they aren’t objectively wrong. it eventually just starts speaking for jeremy because jeremy seems incapable of acting natural. the squip is an abusive autism parent.

“sync up” demonstrates jeremy’s weird relationship with empathy. he wants to be nice to everyone- will has even called him “deeply empathetic”- but he’s initially really bad at seeing other people’s point of view, which is why he positions himself as sort of against the world, seeing everyone as better than him or trying to set up these barriers of Coolness where everyone else must be perfect compared to him. he’s so surprised to learn that the popular kids also hurt because of his strict idea of the social structure. it’s a combination of low self esteem and a black-and-white viewpoint.

let’s go back to christine. the squip, already established as ableist abuser, finds her “highly unusual” for acting in a way that disregards everyone who views her. she has very strange and specific visions in her head, and it seems very natural for her even if jeremy struggles to follow along.

in later performances, she chews on her sleeve and spins around during AGTIKBI. that’s stimming, babes. also gotta acknowledge “i don’t always relate to other people my age, except when i’m on the stage”

i’m gonna use this section to talk about jake and christine. christineis a bit unsure when interacting with jake, until he validates her interest- her acting is what really touches him. but jake, while good-hearted, has trouble being self-centered and thus not fully aware of christine’s own needs and space. so christine is always a little uncomfortable around him, especially in public, and not always willing to socialize. he is right about her being kind of stuck in her comfort zone, though, not doing anything off of her stage. and he is genuinely nice to her, it’s just a matter of their social strategies clashing.

the fact that the squip blocks out michael...i’ve had a lot of times in my life where i was told that socializing with other “weird” people would be counterproductive for my social development and it was part of why i was stuck with so few friends. so i really feel the idea that blocking out the person who helps you feel confident in your atypicality is framed as a good thing so you can act more socially adept, and that doing otherwise would just drag you both down.

hot DAMN does “loser geek whatever” make so much sense for an autistic kid with internalized ableism.

“it’s not only school that’s rough, being lonely’s stupid tough” makes it pretty clear this isn’t about the school social scene as muc as it is the entire social scene of the world. we may not see it, but it’s just (not) interacting with people in general that jeremy can’t stand.

“michael says that weird is rad but feeling weird just makes me sad” as stated above, makes a Lot More Sense with the idea that michael is both a more confident autistic and really bad at addressing jeremy’s own internalized ableism and desire to make connections outside his small friend group.

everything about jeremy boiling down all his problems to his “instincts” sucking and needing to basically be told what to do really highlights how autistic kids can feel broken because of their inability to fit into the social norm, to the point where we repress every behavior that actually makes us feel comfortable and unique. 

not to mention the line about him being seen as a “normal handsome guy” since autistic people tend to be infantilized and never seen as desirable (will roland also implied this line has trans coding which is another discussion altogether but i feel i should acknowledge that here)

all of those terms that jeremy calls himself near the end- namely weirdo, misfit, oddball, freak, failure- all of this sounds like the shit people throw at autistic kids. like this goes beyond anxiety alone, this is jeremy being outcasted and oppressed by the general public due to his behavior. especially the “please don’t speak” part, considering how often autistic kids are mocked for misunderstanding when to speak, how to speak, and what to talk about. jeremy needs some freaking love. :(

“michael in the bathroom” is a panic attack, related to severe anxiety, but i do see a lot of aspects that play into autism as well. the little nervous stimmy movements of foot-bouncing and picking at grout, the explosive sensory overload during the “knock knock” section of the bridge, the whole concept of losing the only person you ever managed to connect to without sacrificing who you are, dealing with this massive change to your sense of philosophy and reality where you pinned everything on one person to ground yourself, and thus you’re now completely lost trying to isolate yourself from this big overwhelming social gathering...neurodivergent anthem all around.

jeremy and christine’s couch interactions during halloween give me such autistic positivity. christine basically echolales jeremy’s weird noise and they both have so much fun vocal stimming that they forget there’s another person in the room. it’s such a sweet moment until jeremy ruins it by realizing that asking her out right after a breakup is Not Really Good For Her.

christine’s reaction to the fire demonstrates a clear case of hyperempathy to me. it isn’t discussed as much as a complete lack of empathy, but autistic folks are prone to feeling way too much especially when it comes to others’ pain. christine talking about how she hates that everyone’s hurting and desperately wants to help but doesn’t know how, and how we’ve already seen how much she struggles to connect with others like jake....it’s a very relatable, very specific autistic mood.

going back to the theme of jeremy and empathy, christine’s above hyperempathy kind of breaks this mold, and while jeremy always does feel for the other kids, by this point he feels so strongly- particularly for christine, who he also saw as a perfect confident being until now- that the squip can manipulate him into “fixing” everyone the same way the squip was supposed to “fix” him. and he never considers that christine doesn’t need to be fixed because he just projects his own insecurity that strongly onto everyone else who seems “weird” in the same kind of way- hence why he assumes michael is jealous of him back in MITB. it’s likely a result of the squip’s manipulation but i feel like mind-blindness is a factor, even if jeremy switches between struggling to process others’ emotions and being extremely empathetic.

michael’s special interest saves the day!!! :D

the whole fight b/w jeremy and michael, assuming it comes from a genuine place of repressed bitterness, has a lot of added subtext with them both being autistic. jeremy accusing michael of “giving up” on social interaction, michael envies jeremy for trying bc michael is clearly Not comfortable in most large social settings, jeremy envies michael for his pride, it just hits home for me i guess

rich calling michael “antisocial headphones kid” honestly how is michael not canon autistic

in the off-bway version michael briefly speaks too loud forgetting that jeremy’s head still hurts which is a relatable Forgot About Boundaries thing. plus him smacking rich playfully forgetting that rich is Still In Pain

“voices in my head” works nice as a fuck-societal-norms-and-just-be-happy song. “embrace the traits that make you so odd” in particular :’)

jeremy remembering christine’s infodump about her obscure bowling alley performance art idea and bringing it up to her again!!!

the squip doesn’t go away because ableism and the anxiety it brings and all the upsetting symptoms of autism don’t go away, but with the right support and confidence you can live with them!!! good message for mental disorders in general and works very well in this context!!!

so in conclusion.....be more chill is autistic pride!!!

1. What song automatically plays in your head when you look out the window on a long drive? 

i dont really have an answer for this. i think i just automatically think about any song ive been listening to recently or any song that has been stuck in my head. 

2.  Do you have some snacks nearby when you write?

well i live in a two story house so the kitchen is downstairs and im usually lazy busy so since i have a mini fridge upstairs i just usually get water to drink while im writing. its kinda hard to eat and write cuz i loose focus really easily so when i am writing i am writing! i am in the zone! but if i am a little hungry ill usually snack on candy like chocolate kinder joys i love them but they r so expensive or snack on chips but i get like salt on my fingers or i like cheetos so cheetos dust and that just gets everywhere and later my hands and keyboard kinda smell like fart. 3. What do you do to combat creative burnout?

so burnout happens to me a lot so to get inspiration i either read other stories or fanfics which gets my head gears turning or i admire a piece of art or photography or a song. whats so unique and satisfying with writing you can explore and go anywhere with it, hehehe erotic if you know what i mean lol jk there are no barriers with writing just your imagination. there is inspiration any where you go and id advise to never stop writing. even if its a few short sentences or paragraphs about anything even bird poop its still progression and your mind is working and your searching for words like its all good for you bby.  4. Do you use (or like to use) prompts?

5. What is your favorite place to write?

lol boring, i know but my room. my room is really bright in the mornings and comfortable and chill and i have a candle of the pandora ride in disney that smells like the ride so its all good and relaxing and super peaceful plus i have a picture of myself the age of like 9 on my desk idk why but it encourages me and makes me focus to make sure i never get that cringy again. 

6. What is a hobby or yous that you usually don’t talk about?

well i like working out HAHAHAHAHA jk that was a joke...get it...cuz i much rather be eatingokillstop. but i really like to draw which i have a art page you can see it if you click here pls look at my failed attempts to be hip and cool with the cool kids and being artsy fartsy. another hobby is i really like to do makeup and nail art, nail art is really tough guys no joke if you do it like you got wizard powers are something. maybe its bc my nails are shorter than pete davidson and ariana grande’s relationship, alright im trying to stop i swear!

7. Do you play an instrument? Which one?

no i wish though. i always wanted to learn to either play the piano or electric guitar cuz H.E.R looks so cool doing it.

it sucks dont even try me. my sister can barely read it like no wonder nobody wants to steal my signature heck they can’t even read it!

ok sit back guys, sniff a nice amount of crack and get ready for the most cringy moment of my life but also a time when i knew i was meant to be *inhale* a fanfic writer. 

so it was elementary school, i think 3rd grade and for my writing assignment we were given a prompt of idk what the heck tbh i think it was like be outside the box and im like ok imma nail this cuz im a weird child and yeah so i got my papers and pencil and i went TO TOWN on this paper. so i wrote two stories. one short story with a picture to go with it and one long story that yeah i buried years ago. so my first story was about a farmer was about that farming life. he had chickens and dairy. so i cant remember if the cheese was spoiled but doesnt matter. anywho these cheese and a chicken were alive like they could talk in the story and i gave them faces, yikes. but the whole story was the farmer was a b*tch and he was trying to eat the chicken and cheese so they hatched a plan to get away from the farmer. they did it successfully and they ran away. yay happy ending my teacher actually liked that one me too and my school mates were thinking what they heck is this girl on i made a story about how me and justin bieber made cookies for Christmas you know. so then my other story i was more proud of this one cuz it was a tone of paper, sorry trees, and this story was about how a female hippo (girl i was all about plus size and thicker girls and no body shaming) and an male ostrich were kidnapped from their own habitats and taken to become circus animals. failed version of Madagascar hey mine was before the circus movie OK THEY STOLE IT FROM MEEEEE. so they get taken and are treated to harsh punishment and the animals can talk and i think its in the point of view of the male ostrich guy thing. they are in the circus and they start to have this relationship happening. love starts blossoming its all good. im happy with this cuz i believed in love at age of 8. they find a way thru a kick butt scene of the animals escaping and the hippo and ostrich are so in love that they run away together and they have half hippo half ostrich babies and i think i named the species  hipstrich or like ostppo idk but i was so proud of this story and when my teacher read it she was worried about me lol i think she thought i might like mate these two animals like secretly idk but she was like it was ok and i was like what this is frickin William Shakespeare writing or like F. Scott Fitzgerald writing. nevertheless it taught me a lesson that nobody else needs to like what im writing the main point and only thing that matters is if your proud of it and you like it and i really did. i will remember that story forever and thats what made me want to be a writer. lol sorry that was a lot.

1. What is your favorite book?

fifty shades of grey hahaha naw my favorite book is obv you all know this is series of unfortunate events but i never usually cry period and i never cry for books ever so when i read mrs. tom thumb by melanie benjamin, its the part when her sister minnie dies i cried so hard idk it was just emotional the wording the way she described her pain it was so beautiful written yet so sad and that was just amazing to me cuz im like this book made me feel things and im like wow i would love to write a book one day and make someone feel something whether it be sadness anger happiness annoyance anything they are having an emotion and that is super powerful to do that with just words. pls go check out that book its a good read. also im a fan of the greatest showman so i really enjoyed it. there are many other books tho that i thoroughly enjoy so much. 

2. What piece that you’ve written are you most proud of?

oh my god ive always wanted to be asked this question hands down i am always proud of my platonic gender neutral tony stark fic called in·con·sol·a·ble window to me i wrote it so sad and i was feeling like depressed lol when i saw peter die in infinity war like i didnt know what to do with my life tbh but im so glad that @impetrichorny requested it tysm i just like how its not based on romance or fluff or happiness it is based on when you lose someone the nightmares and sadness you go through and that there is nothing nobody can do about it except just be there for that person so i really like writing angst and something that was out of the box. ive been thinking tho of doing a part two since the fate of all the characters has changed after endgame. who knows tho. 

3. What is the last song that inspired you? 

well for art it would have to good news by mac miller when i did that kobe bryant memorial on my art page. i dont want to give it away though but ill just say some very powerful womens music inspired my oc writing and making. 

4. How do you feel about letting people read what you write?

at first i was scared cuz i thought i wrote like trash which that feeling kinda doesnt go away like some days i feel that way others i feel confident or it depends on the request it just depends but anyways i was always insecure about my writing so when i started writing it was more like lets see how this goes if not ill delete the whole page. im glad to say it went great but in the begging it was hard cuz i kept putting myself down but i learned to accept or just understand that you keep learning with writing you always learn knew things with writing how you can explain something better or you words get more intricate and people see the improvement and you do too thats why i applaud those who dont speak english that english isnt their first language. you are doing a tremendous job and keep practicing cuz you’re gonna make it to the top. ive also learned that some days are not my days and you can take time off when youre not feeling it when you have writers block. just recollect your juices sip some tea go to the beach relax your mind a little and take as long as you need to come back and give it your all. also comments and reblogs and likes a follows those meant so much to me and encouraged me. thats why i cant express it enough how much all those mean to writers, artist, photographers, anybody who is truly trying their hard in this area of social media. its makes a person happy smile and confident in their writing but first train your mind into loving what you make not what others thing. you have to be happy with the outcome that is what truly matters and what makes your writing the best. look at me getting philosophical. 

5. Do you get distracted easily? If yes with what?

yes and with porn haha i get distracted easily like very easily homeschooling was really tough for me. music distracts me, netflix, the urge to watch david dobrik or unus annus or buzzfeed unsolved on youtube, heck my farts distract me. i gotta be like troy bolton i gotta get my HEAD IN THE GAME!

hi em! i own a haikyuu writing blog but recently ive been neglecting the requests snd just writing in general??? can you share your motivations? i love ur writings btw!

hey there! 

there are a ton of small motivations - but i’d say what keeps me most motivated is knowing that i don’t have to write anything. if i wake up one morning and don’t feel like writing, i don’t have to do it, because this isn’t a job. this is just a hobby, it’s just for fun - and while i do have great readers who enjoy what i write, that doesn’t mean i’m forced to produce content. there’s no pressure! 

losing motivation is completely normal, so don’t stress about it too much! give yourself some downtime and come back to it in a week or so. and maybe instead of writing a request or for your blog, write something for yourself. (based off of a song or a book, a fun au, or even a continuation of a fic you’ve read recently [u have full permission to use one of mine!]) i’ve found that writing things I want to write really helps me keep the love of writing alive 

there’s nothing wrong with taking a break. if you want, let your readers know you’ll be inactive for awhile until you get back into the swing of things. there’s nothing wrong with doing that! and your readers will still be there when you get back 

and if you ever wanna talk about it more in depth, or just need some advice that i may be able to offer, send me a pm!! i don’t mind talking it out with you<333
