#my resume includes a year and a half working in a call center notating calls over the shitty phone headsets and a 120 wpm typing speed #(altho to be fair and balanced ive been out of practice for a few months so that prolly bumps me back down to like #90-100 but the curve for getting back up to speed is like. /a/ day tops and the minimum i see on similar job reqs is 60 wpm so #yknow) #i also have no other job at the moment and therefore no time restrictions #as well as a steady internet connection #as far as captioning itself goes‚ i tried out the freelance captioning service rev for a short while but they believed that in unscripted #works‚ filler words like um or uh should be omitted‚ whereas i'm of the opinion that captions exist to convey whatever #meaning is included in the words to a non-hearing audience‚ not to judge which words may or may not be deliberate or correct #word choice or w/e #so i knew i wouldn't be able to stand continuing with it despite LOVING their captioning program. oh she was beautiful. i want to kill #youtube's with a thousand rocks #suffice it to say i am extremely passionate about subtitles being as accurate as possible #i have audio processing issues and my bf is partially deaf so when subtitles are bad we both. explode and explode and explode and explode a #which ik ik 'but wait you have audio processing issues and want a job Listening To And Interpreting Audio? how does that work?' #and the answer is it is 1000x easier when i can make the speech as loud as i need w no background noise and pause/replay/slow it #if i had a .75x speed option irl i would be golden #anyways. please i want to transcribe so bad #i also captioned my own hour-long video so i am now. quite familiar with youtubes captioning system #and id say it prolly took me abt 4 hours minus figuring-stuff-out time so like #say a 30 minute finished video would take 2 hrs prolly #im not looking for anything fancy so id prolly be fine w minimum wage cuz thatd be what $15-60 a video? depending on length #so depending on How Many Videos They Make thatd sustain me just fine

Sleep Token Wembley Bingo

As promised, here it is: the Wembley Bingo cards of your predictions on what might go down at Wembley. Once again, thank you @fivewholeminutes for the og post!!

There are two versions, Red and Blue. They have the same predictions, but arranged in different ways. Just save the card you want and play along on Saturday! I may or may not have a ~prize~ for whoever completes a bingo.

A lot of the predictions were very similar, so I just combined them to save space. There are a few that have been left off, either because they already happened or for some other reason, and others that make sense for them to still be there - better explanations under the cut (because I don't want to spam anyone's dash):

Aqua Regia mix-up - it happened once already BUT it could still happen or not on Wembley, so I'm leaving it, because funny

Better/Bigger stage production - we got the super cool LED logo and amazing lights, but it's still very much possible for Wembley to have something extra/different

Predictions that I have cut off:

Unmasking/Identity reveal (see above)

Siam/Cleo cameo - for logistic reasons and for the snakeys well-being, I think it's safe to assume they won't be present (even though I'd love to see that 🐍)

Ritual starting on time - again, logistics are hard to control and late starts are pretty common. I figured this one was innocuous enough to leave out

iii screaming with a microphone - we don't know if he will be able to be present at all so, this one had to leave. I want you to have a change of getting a bingo!

Live official recording of the show (for a dvd or replay) - Adam Ross has stated a few weeks ago that the band does not wish to have a professional recording of their Rituals, and so an official pro-recording is a bit impossible

Previous tour props, like hats, etc - if we go by the German Rituals, they don't really bring anything over so, very very unlikely to happen

It will be a normal show - while I agree that there's a small chance Wembley will be just another regular ritual, there are a few extra special things that are bound to happen anyways, so in truth, it will never be a truly normal show. (also I needed to cut off one more 😬)

If any of these does end up becoming true, I am contractually obliged to grant you three wishes, so come find me afterwards.

Predictions that have been combined:

New masks/ new paints/ gold motifs/ new costumes - it all falls under the new/upgraded costume slot (although I kept Vessel and the guys separate)

Dancers /silent performances / theatrical elements

Pyrotechnics / Setting things on fire

Fields of Elation/ Sugar/ Telomeres/ The Apparition/ more songs in general - these were the ones most predicted to comeback/debut, so I combined them in the old songs/debut slot

Euclid/TNDNBTG - most people said it would start with The Night and end with Euclid, although I have seen a few variations in order. I kept the most common one, but it's game if on reverse

(Euclid appeared too many times, so that song has a special slot - just as TMBTE album played in full)

Remember, this is all in good fun! Some of these are super silly and fun, others are very likely to happen. What matters is that we all have a bit of fun while emotionally recovering form the London show (because we all know it'll be incredibly emotional!)

part one

its been around one week since that night in the common room. that night gave you a lot to think about. throughout the past week, your brain kept replaying the memories of that night. draco's lips on your forehead, and on your lips. his gentle touch. him looking so innocent cuddled up into you. the way he called you "love" and it seemed so natural.

this was way more intimate than what the both of you were used to. your relationship had been limited "friends with benefits" due to draco's strict family background- no labels. if his father found out- merlin, all hell would break loose.

something changed that night. a shift in both of you. it was more raw. tender. the way draco looked into your eyes so longingly . you know he felt it too. to be honest- it hurts, being restricted from dating the boy you wanted most. the boy you just wanted to hold and be next to every second of the day. the boy you loved.

loved?

love is a strong word. but it was the right word. you know draco felt it too. the way he looked at you from across the hallway as you laughed with pansy about something you saw on the squibbler. the way he calls you a pretty girl. the way he touches you so gently but holds you so tight like he doesnt want to loose you. the way he kisses you. the way his lips move against yours. plus he said he liked when you called him "baby". these are not things "friends with benefits" would do. you both just knew. its as if you were meant to be.

you layed on your bed in your shared dorm, staring at the ceiling deep in thought, listening to pansy's muffled snoring. you just couldnt fall asleep- couldnt get draco out of your head. you knew for a fact that draco was alone in his dorm- blaise had to end term early because of a family emergency. quietly, you slid out of your bed and left your dorm. you stand outside of draco's door, contemplating wether you should wake him or not.

your body moves faster than your mind and before you know it, two of your fingers are at draco's door knocking at it. immediately, you scrunch your nose in regret. "why did i wake him hes going to think im an idiot." you mumble under your breath.

just as you turn to leave, his door slides open, revealing a sleepy, messy haired draco, wearing just sweatpants.

you couldnt help but chuckle at his sleepy state as he rubbed his eyes.

"y/n? what are you doing here, are you okay?" he murmered sleepily, squinting to get a better view of you in the dark hallway.

"im alright draco, i just..." you trailed off your words

"you just what love?" he replied

there it was, that nickname again

"love"

you couldnt hide it anymore

"i couldnt stop thinking about you draco i-" you stuttered

"i just needed to see you right now"

"missing me hm love?" he replied teasingly with a smirk

you tried your hardest not to stare at his bare, toned abs

he soflty tugged your hand as he pulled you inside his dorm, leading you to lay in bed with him.

you layed in silence with your head on dracos bare chest, and your legs entangled with each other, as he softly caressed your hair.

he smelt like green apples and vanilla, it was intoxicating.

you tilted your head upwards to face draco, only to see him already looking down at you with a lazy smile on his face.

flustered, you buried your head in the crook of his neck, while he wrapped his arms firmly around your waist.

"y/n" he murmered softly

you hummed in reply

"y/n look at me"

you shifted to face him, lips inches away from each other.

"ive been meaning to say this for a while but- i know this has been hard on us both, sneaking around and not being together."

you look up at him, wondering where he was going with this

"i just wanted to say that- um that even though my father may not approve i- i care for you more than you know i-" he took a breath and looked you in the eyes, his hand on the back of your head, while yours wrapped around his neck.

"i love you"

you were lost for words.

the draco malfoy. just told you that he loves you.

'i- i understand if you dont feel the same way y/n but please say someth-" he said anxiously

you cut him off by leaning forward and catching his lips in yours, tangling your hands in his silky blonde hair and pulling him closer. your lips moves in a rhythm as his hands moved from your head down to your waist, pulling you impossibly closer.

you broke the kiss and moved your hand to cup his face, tracing his jawline.

"draco, of course i love you, im all yours baby"

at this point i was a solid week into this and it was barely halfway done T-T

i then worked on backgrounds and flats- funny thing, i barely ever complete pieces because i have the attention span of a goldfish, so i literally had no idea how to colour things in ┌(。Д。)┐

THIS TOOK SO FUCKING LONG

I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW PAINSTAKING THIS WAS

i was literally going insane over this ahdnsndn

FINALLY i was able to move onto shading/rendering(?)/details, and via the power of bullshitting my way through things, voila

at this point i had spent every day doing nothing but drawing for two weeks, but i was SO CLOSE to being done

then suddenly, the fire nation attacked something happened dun dun dun

because i was working with around 80 layers (i needed them all trust me <-lying), ibispaintx was running abysmally slow, and at this moment, it just CRASHED

i rushed back on and got this (0_0 )

i had to wait. FOURTY FIVE MINUTES. FOR THE WHOLE THING TO REPLAY AND TRY TO RESTORE MY FILE. at this point it was 3 am a day after the deadline and panic mode was activated

BUT i think the watchers may have been, well, watching over me at that point because miraculously, i got my file back, and i added a few finishing touches before collapsing on my bed in a heap

this whole thing overall was a fantastic experience, all the mods and participants in the discord server were super entertaining and friendly, and i want to thank each and every one of you for making this event so exciting >:D especially my teammates, and of course luna for creating it <3

funny thing this was literally my version of 100 hours hardcore since my canvas tells me ive been on it for around 150 hours ajdnjahd

OKOKOKOKOK so first things first the region/generation IIIIIIIII was introduced into was Gen 6 aka Kalos (yes I am young HAHSWBWHEH) and oh my G O D I have. SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH NOSTALGIA FOR THAT GEN. I replay X&Y AAAAALLL THE TIME just cuz I love those games S O DAMN MUCH?????? Like the design of the region is so pretty and the Pokémon designed are so unique and the music is so,,,,,, mwuah perfect. Nuzlocke comics also got really big around that time so that’s how I was introduced into Nuzlocking and HOOOOOOOOOO BOYO BOY

I AM A M A S S I V E NUZLOCKER. I LOVE NUZLOCKES SM. THEYRE MY FAVOURITE THINGS EVER if I’m not writing an essay over Luis you can GUARENTEE I’ll be doing a Nuzlocke. I got into them cuz I ADORED the storytelling aspect and all the creative comics but I’ve stuck around cuz I just LOVE the problem solving/mathematics part of them?????? I love all the insane strategies and statistics runners come up with and I can easily just watch multi-hour Nuzlocke runs for days on end

But going back on track kinda but also on the subject of Nuzlockes my absolute FAAAAAAVORITE region/generation is EASILY Gen 4 and Platinum. In 2020 I started my first ever Nuzlocke of Platinum and tk say that singular playthrough impacted my life in a way I can’t even describe would be a MASSIVE understatement. I played it through some REEEEEEEALLY TOUGH TIMES and it was such a consistent constant for me I still go back to that save file and just. Walk around with my Pokémon. And reminisce. It was also just my first ever Pokémon game EVER (if you don’t count Pokémon GO BDBSBSHSH) so I hold it very near and dear to my heart <<<33

My starter was Turtwig and I called him Boba Fett and now Boba Fett the Torterra has stuck with me through every single game I’ve played- I’ve transferred him all the way up to Scarlet & Violet and I love him SO much he unironically means the world to me. Torterras my favourite Pokémon ever I have SO many plushies of it n stuff <<<<<333 if I can find a photo of Boba Fett the Torterra I’ll post it

I also R E A L L Y love gen 5. Like all the designs of the Pokémon are SO COOL and Unova is such a fun region to go through and the STORY?? THE S T O R Y ???????????? I really love how they were kinda aiming for an,,,, older audience with it????? Unova just goes so hard

But I think if I had to nail down my number one favourite Pokémon game EVER right alongside Platinum it would be Legends Arceus. LIKE?????? THE STORY???????????? THE ENVIORMENT????????????? THE MECHANICS??? THE ART STYLE??????? ALL THE LITTLE BACKGROUND NOISES????????? OFS SUCH A GOOD GAME I think right alongside like. Resident evil 4 it’s probably my favourite game of all time it’s so stunning I replay it ALL THE TIME

I’m also semi into shiny hunting!!!!!! I’ve only ever really done it on scarlet and Violet but my favourite shiny hunt I’ve ever done was for shiny Mabostiff aka my other favourite Pokémon alongside Torterra <33 ut was right after my dog had passed away and he looked EXACTLY like Mabostiff except he was golden so I went out of my way to shiny hunt one in his memory <<<<<<33

I also really love competitive Pokémon!!!!!!!!!!! Have I ever actually PLAYED competitively??? No but I can tell you everything there is to know about it!!!!!!!

Uhhhhhhhhhhh what else uhhh,,,,,,, Torterra and Mabostiff are obviously my favourite Pokémon but I have plenty of other faves too. Like Flabebe, Sylveon, Hisuian Decidueye cuz it looks like my irl pet chickens, Meganium, Wingull, Jirachi, Delphox uhhhhhhhhh there’s probably more but my brain is soupy soup BXBSBBSBSJS

But uhhhhhhhh I think that’s it!!!!!!!! spoilers ahead ofc, im not holding back from anything so be warned

so i beat side order to 100%. every palette is done and i got every colored chip so that the collection is done. i guess what im missing is just the collectibles and a "hackless" run, which i will do in the next days (i need a break for today.. ive been playing side order for 10h today and yesterday it was over 15h).

here a lil list of things i enjoyed:

agent 8 content and lore !!! shes my fav agent (excluding agent 3 as shes now the captain) and i loved seeing her in almost all cutscenes !! i was super happy to see that she was part of marinas dev diaries and that she had her own weapon palette (that has its own unique design to it when u go to the menu !). thanking the devs for finally showing more of the relationship 8 has with oth

pearlina canon (u cannot deny it)

acht/dedf1sh lore ! loved loved loved finally getting some more info regarding acht , even if some info is wrong (im guessing its a translation error)

the environment. god the environment.. i love the aesthetic that side order has, from the square outside to the lil training room u have before entering the elevator. the stages are cool designed, especially the background stuff and overall just love the scenery of the dlc

the music. THE MUSIC. ear blessing, so so good

gameplay. huge fan that the devs took a leap and made a campaign with a totally new perspective of gameplay. i had so much fun playing thru the tower with different palettes, thinking which ones would fit best for my weapon and playstyle

but even with all these positive things i do have some stuff i dislike (? dislike is a pretty strong word for this):

not enough lore. i know we got SO MUCH lore bits, but i wished we got more. be it from more dev diaries, flashback cutscenes or sth

length of the dlc. this is sth that has so many ppl disappointed and i kinda get it ? the dlc is to be played several times (since its a rogue-like), but i wish the thing would be just a tiny bit longer. i finished my first full run in 2 1/2h (and that with the fact i had to re-do the tower all over again bc i died at floor 27), and from then on i just replayed it all with the other palettes i got over time. oe was longer in a sense, and i wished side order was like that too

story. now dont get me wrong, i LOVE the story of side order with everythign i have. but if i compare it with how i felt with octo expansion, it just didnt quiet hit the same. oe was a pretty emotional dlc to me (i cried at the end credits), while side order just.. didnt give that. i shed a tear at the end credits of side order, but not fully cried like i did for oe. i wished it had just more, power more emotion yk? but like i said, i still love love love the story !!

tone change from the first concept trailer we got. the first ever trailer we got made side order look so, odd and creepy in a way ? and i wished they stayed more with that. i love the aesthetic it has rn ! but i also wish we got more of that cryptic vibe

that one stupid fucking fish that spawns those exploding lil fishies.. when i catch u ricky.. ricky when i catch u ricky.

i love side order with everything i have inside of me. ive been waiting for it since it was announced back in february 2023. and im happy we got it. im thanking the devs for creating such a wonderful dlc.

it will always have a special place in my heart, just like octo expansion does.

Replaying SMT IV has been very rewarding. Not just for my enjoyment, but also in shedding new light on characters and clearing up some things I misremembered. I'm feeling so much more acquainted with these characters than I ever have before.

And okay, I have character bias, but I love that Issachar's and Navarre's backgrounds are fleshed out more by NPC dialogue. A lot more is being said by them than the actual plot progression. And that's true with the other samurai too. Really goes to show that NPCs can have some of the best info.

I'm posting a shit ton about my findings on Twitter and I hope to soon share that here too.

just wanted to say that i adore your art, and you kinda got me into psychonauts. i already knew about it and had been wanting to look into it, but then i saw your tf2 psychonauts crossover art and went CRAZY over the designs and shapes i just had to buy both psychonaut games. i’m actually playing the second one as i type! i’m having a blast and this series is definitely going in my top favorites already, so thank you!!

i don’t know if you’ve talked about this before, but what are your favorite or least favorite levels from the psychonauts games?

anon you have no idea how happy this makes me. My favoritest games of all times it makes me so so happy to know other people are still getting into them and enjoying them! They’re both great games, but psychonauts 2 is really just a good game to play. Absolute blast bc of story and gameplay, I really hope you enjoy it!! Favorite and least favorites… good question!

Favorite in game one: Meat circus I LOVE you meat circus. I knowww everyone’s always mad about it because of the shitty gameplay and like. YEAJ. I agree. It sucked major ass but I don’t care. I love weird circuses SO much and I love Coach Oleander so it was fun getting to see the merging backgrounds of him and Raz. It just has so many super cool parts to the level that I think get overlooked because of people getting upset at the gameplay.

least favorite: Gloria’s theater :( it’s like the whole reason I haven’t replayed the first game . The setup of the level itself is boring and cramped and the mechanics for the level are confusing and i dont like it!!! Which sucks bc i love Gloria and her story is really sweet but i really dont think her level does her justice in any regard.

Spoilers for game 2 under the cut just in case you want to avoid it for now til you finish!

Favorite in game two: It’s such a tossup every time because like. Psi-King’s sensorium is full of wonderful music and in-your-face art design, Loboto’s Labyrinth is so well designed and a wonderful intro into the game that lets you know exactly what you’re getting into, Bob’s Bottle’s is gorgeous and fucking HEARTBREAKING oh my GOD. But I think Cassie’s Collection is my favorite overall because it has stellar level design, great music, and is the level of one of my favorite characters. Honestly the fact that Cassie is my favorite character is probably the only reason i can make this decision. I lvoe her sm shes so wonderful and her level tells such a good story :) I genuinely think the only downside is how lackluster the final boss is. It feels like its missing something and I completely forget about it until the moment I have to fight her.

Least favorite: Lucretia’s lament… Fun area, but very clearly meant to be a quick exposition level. Not a lot for you to really uncover, unlike a lot of the other levels that are packed with hidden secrets and details and stuff. It’s really pretty, I especially love the quilted area, but you just feel so boxed in when you play through it that it feels like setdressing. Type of railroading feel that is more reminiscent of the first game than the New and Improved psychonauts 2. I feel like if i had more of an opportunity to look around and explore and Experience the different areas I’d have more of an appreciation for it, but you don’t really get that unfortunately!

Close second is Hollis’ Classroom/Hotstreaks PURELY because ive restarted the game and only gotten halfway so many times that I’ve replayed those sections an unGODLY amount and its left a Hollis’-Classroom-shaped-indent in my BRAIN. But then i remember how cool her level is and I get normal.

hello. ive been considering replaying asagao academy for the first time in like six years. any advice/tips/recommendations i litch rally do not remember the optimal route order or anything like that and idk if i trust 2016 fandom abt it tbh.

this is an insane ask to receive in the year 2023 on anon i hope you know that BUT i got you!

my personal recommendation [aka the order i should’ve replayed the game in, and the order i actually replayed the game in] kinda changes depending on how much you remember of the game, and if you’re trying to/willing to play the entire thing (which... okay, i have opinions on that, but we’ll get to it. for clarity’s sake, i’ll be including jared and jon routes, but it’s up to you if you want to play those.)

#1) if you want to actually enjoy the game (subtitle: 2016 fandom wasn’t wrong but they weren’t right either)

if you don’t remember the game, 2016 fandom’s order of completion isn’t... bad?? but it isn’t very fulfilling narratively for your second time playing. you should only play pbg route first if you don’t remember his plot twist -- if you do remember it, leave him till last. it’ll make all of his sad guy shit in the background of every route a little funnier, and a little sadder, and it solidifies pbg as (if not the “canon” route) the standard route to play him at the end. 

additionally, the level of quality in each route varies a *lot* more than 2016 fandom would have you believe. this is purely subjective, but the “optimal route order” REALLY assumes all routes are written equally, and going from a fantastic route to a meh one is going to kill the mood a little. in my recent replay of the game, i went from jared route [unfortunately the best-written route in the game] to continue route and had to quit from whiplash. HOWEVER: if you’re looking for the funniest experience, which is also my personal choice of playthrough, ill give you a good -> bad -> good -> bad ranking.

my order in this scenario:

*#1. pbg (if you remember NOTHING of this videogame, play pbg’s first -- if you remember his twist but nothing else, play him last.)

#2. jirard (play this before the more heavy routes; it’s insanely sweet and the whiplash will be too strong anywhere else)

#3. jon (you can put this before jirard route or after it, but this is basically just a long haul to get to better routes, so if you don’t want to play it -- it is HILARIOUSLY subpar -- you can skip it pretty easily)

#4. continue (i can’t support playing it last but i can’t support playing it first either. i don’t care for the paul/hana romance, because hana’s kind of miserable throughout it, but if you like josh and nick [plus some kick ass ian characterization] continues got something for you. this is also the only other appearance of mai bikini sprite outside of jared route.)

(**bonus: #5. hiddenblock route (play this as an intermission before jared route, it’ll make the absolute roster of hb members in that one so much more fun)

#5. jared (the best written route in the game. i played it again for the irony and sadly its narrative is fucking incredible. 10/10. you can’t play this route before paul because if you do, dating paul is going to be miserable. believe me. i did that and literally had to quit continue route even though i was thoroughly in love with josh [and, yknow. jeff and ian content is good.]) #6. satch (you have to play satch and jared right after each other because they’re weirdly relevant in each other’s lives. either order is good, but there’s a joke at the beginning of shane route that begs me to say satch - > jared. so ill say that in my personal order.)

#7. shane (i switch satch and shane’s routes around for maximum whiplash <3 no seriously, play this route as one of the last. i have some insanely mixed opinions on it [it’s the funniest route but it definitely wasn’t trying to be] but you can’t play it as one of the first.) *#8. pbg (again, if you remember his whole deal, play him last.)

if you’re a real trooper and you want to play jacques route... kinda got no opinions on that. play it whenever you want so long as its in the later half of your run. 

#2.) my personal order (subtitle: don’t play the game this way) 

in my personal run through, my friend and i decided to pair each Really Good route with a less good one. you can play these pairs in any order, but you cannot separate them. [good/bad]*

*(the only exception to this is satch/hidden route, in which both routes are fantastic.)

#1. pbg/jon:

they’re roommates, and jared’s route is too good to be paired with pbg’s. nothing will make it more apparent that jon gives zero shit about hana than playing pbg route before or after jon’s route. if you’re in it for a depressingly hilarious romp that ultimately culminates in hana settling for second-best to a BIRD, the poor writing of jon’s route goes from dreadful to insanely funny. watching pbg treat her like a human person after or before that is both comedic and speaks to the pbg route’s strengths.

#2. jared/paul:

 i don’t hate paul route -- far from it, actually, even if i’m biased in saying that. but jared route is simply and utterly, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best route in this game. and there is just nothing more cathartic than watching hana break down in tears in paul route because shes in love with him and he fucking sucks  before watching jared and hana have the most beautiful dating sim romance ever written [alongside paul’s clowning in chapter 4]. like i don’t hate paul but how do you even compete with the romantic lengths jared goes to for hana. simply isn’t possible.  

#3. jirard/shane: 

i know this would be controversial in 2016 asagao fandom but jirard and shane are inseparable in every route that isn’t shane’s and that’s why shane’s route fails. they’re like “what if we made shane so sweet and niceys” and then didn’t even give him the guy that forces him to be sweet and niceys until the end of the route.

 jirard’s route is a nonstop fluff-fest of sweet hana characterization, accurate hidden block characterization, with an insanely good, if simple romance at its center. it’s got so much heart and earnest love to it that you can’t help but feel like jirard is the perfect match to all of hana’s insecurities. how can hana be as bad as shes convinced she is if someone like jirard loves her so much? and on top of that, jirard has to convince her that’s a bad way to think -- that his goodness is not a marker for her goodness, that she is good in her own right. it holds a lot of weight, surprisingly, and even when it gets tropey, it still feels earnest, sweet and new. (i’ve replayed this route eight times.)

shane’s route on the other hand. squints. i don’t know how they made every possible bad writing decision but they absolutely did and unless you’re SUPER invested in shane, but not invested enough to care that they butcher his characterization from every other part of the game, it’s going to be obvious. the favoritism is real (the only NB members that show up with any notable screentime are jon and jared), the hidden block characterization is utterly insane (it’s not only violently out of character but has some insane implications on shane’s relationship to hidden block. ALSO LUKE DOESN’T SHOW UP EVEN IN PASSING), and the crux of shane’s issues does not excuse nor explain his actions in any other route. just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s good. 

Dont be fooled though shane route is the funniest one and i love her for it. But yknow. They probably didn’t mean for it to be funny in this way. 

*#4. satch/hidden route:

i should preface this by saying this is the only pair of routes where both are equally great, and i’ve put them together because they promote the same agenda. this agenda being hiddenblock supremacy.

i’ll spare you the details since i just went on and on about jirard and shane, but satch’s route is deeply sad while remaining endlessly kind to hana AND satch’s plights. it’s a great balance. and at the crux of it all is the fact everyone in normalboots sucks aside from satch, who OPENLY CRITICIZES NORMALBOOTS’S WEIRD HIEARCHY AS PERPETUATED BY SHANE, and you might as well go sit down with hidden block afterwards with satch in your heart. when shit goes down, satch, mai, and the hidden block club remain oh so sweet to hana and that is fucking refreshing. 

(personally i enjoyed playing satch route *before* shane route. shane is such an unbearable dickwad in satch route and i love him SO much for it. his feeble attempts at cottagecore cannot fool me.)

hidden block route doesn’t need a lot of elaboration. it’s hidden block shenanigans featuring hana, and there’s no party like a hidden block party. have fun with it.

been rewatching old endurance races just listening to them in the background while i draw/plan dnd stuff/play games. watching spa 24 hrs from 2021 and completely forgot about the accident about 30 mins in. got to be some of the strangest broadcast behaviour ive seen in a race, and i say that as someone who has done papers on live broadcast and its rules.

obviously normal protocol for a big crash is you wait for the drivers to get out and confirm theyre okay/on their way to the medical center. then the crash is shown once or twice to give viewers and comms clarification of the incident along with info about the drivers wellbeing/insight into what may have happened to cause it.

but what happened here caused way more anxiety. mid normal commentary race director comes on radio calling a full course yellow. comms have no idea whats caused it and assume a car has broken down on track and needs to be moved.

in reality, an incredibly severe crash occured at what i believe is the most dangerous corner in motorsport, most dangerous on track for sure. 4 car collision, all drivers sent to the medical center, 2 discharged and 2 sent to hospital 40 mins later (i remember aitken suffered spinal/chest injuries and a broken arm but he made a full recovery)

but none of the commentators are ever told what happened. people working the cameras are careful not to show anything because you don't show a crash/wreck until you know the drivers are okay, basic respect. but no one is telling the broadcast team anything. so for the next 40 minutes, the fcy continues and the comms and the viewers are left to speculate about what's happened and they aren't positive speculations, especially when people who saw the crash in front of their stands start tweeting and sharing photos/vids/what they saw online. this kind of thing (official sources being quiet around a crash and tip-toeing) does happen, but its normally when an accident has been fatal.

of course everything turned out okay. after the 40 mins passed, the race director came on over the radio and informed the drivers and viewers that 2 of the drivers were discharged from the med centre and two were going to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. im very surprised to have seen this kind of breakdown of communication happen. certainly its better safe than sorry and i'd rather have a nonfatal crash never shown during a race runtime than a fatal crash be replayed to death. but there comes a point where what is not being shown begins to imply a very distressing scenario. its not an easy position to put a commentator in, asking them to talk in the gaps with this uneasy fear hanging over them for an odd hour. and its distressing for fans who may be friends and family watching abroad to have the main feed not address what happened, or even who was involved.

#ive never seen the impact thank god but i did see an image of one of the cars afterwards #ive not seen a race car look like that before. i hope i never see one look like that again. #i have to wonder what went wrong that lead to this total breakdown of communication through the different areas #of track/team officials and media #very very strange to see esp from a big/famous international race like this #tw: crash #tw: crash mention #tw: car crash #tw: injury #tw: injuries #tw: injury mention
