uh oh its 00:30 am time to think about the parallel universe where the trevor storyline isnt The Thing like it is in canon and alex slowly drifted away from the band and joined the club because the bad side never came out to play before it was far, far too late and by that time, with many missed gigs, the band doesnt realise something is wrong for a very long time because hey, alex disappears, big deal. is he even a band member anymore, he forgot our last gig.
and the conditions are just so so ripe for caleb to pull some strings because hey, a lost soul in need

The people in Julie’s life need to stop throwing last-minute gigs on her.
Flynn: Surprise! You’re playing the dance tonight.
Luke: In hopes that you’ll rejoin the band, we booked a new gig (tonight).
Ray: I called Flynn, and she’s helping us throw a party. Here. Tonight.
Even the Orpheum gig was booked day of (and I know the circumstances of that one were different, but still).
And these all happen in the same week???
Like, guys! Chill and give Julie a chance to breathe!

Yeah im thinking about Reggie now. Cause i rewatched jatp in Spanish, Swedish, English, and French and in episode five, when they're at the ghost club and they realise that they're late for their gig with Julie ( you know the scene) and, both in Spanish and in Swedish, Reggie swears. Like in Spanish he goes like " Mierda, llegamos tarde" which translates to "shit, were late" and in Swedish he goes like" jäklar vi är sena" which is "fuck, we're late". And I find that funny because its Reggie who says it. Like he's a litteral angel and it would be more normal to Alex or Luke to say it. And I know the insults are not so big but I don't care.

Is there a tiny detail (whether in outfits, songs, dialogue, set decor, acting choices, etc.) from jatp that makes you giddy every time you see it?
lots, tbh, but as always with these questions i am BLANKING while reading it. 😅
okay. *long breaths* a couple i've talked about in the past: luke grabbing a new guitar pick while performing now or never is definitely always on my list. it's so tiny but adds a level of authenticity to luke as a character and his performance. very, very soft whenever i watch the show. also julie's "someone once told me you book gigs by doing" and luke's incredibly soft and small smile in return. 😍
additionally, the way luke's hand travels down julie's arm when they're finally able to touch. the way he lingers there and his thumb's stroking her wrist when his hand's finally made its way down...
Tumblr media
the way they are not. letting. go. as soon as they are able to touch each other. ugh.
and another one because why not: the way luke's hiding from the crowd in front of the orpheum because to him, the connection he wants with everybody is about the music, on stage. it's not about him. it's about his words and his melodies reaching the people and making them feel something, making a difference. (and no, this is not contradicting the way he's angry at bobby for stealing his songs because wanting the credit, on a professional level, is still important to him. he just wants it to stay professional.)

"We can look out for each other." + QPR JatP?
Reggie hummed as he scaled the ladder of Alex's treehouse, hoping he'd find his friend in there. That's where his mom said he'd find him anyhow. Only when his head popped through the opening, he saw Alex in a huddle, clinging to his knees.
"Lexie?"
Alex looked up, his eyes red-rimmed, and his bottom lip bitten raw. "Hey Reg," he said in a small voice.
"What's wrong?" Reggie said, scrambling over to his side. Alex shook his head. "You want me to call the others over?" Alex nodded. "Alrighty."
Reggie leant over, squeezing an arm around Alex, a tiny reassurance before he reached for the walkie-talkie. They all had one, using them to talk late into the night, to summon the others to their side at problems or just to let the group know where the ice cream truck was.
He pressed the button, wincing at the loud squawk it let out. "Y'all we got an upset Alex, can you hustle over here pronto? Over."
"Ten four good buddy, hopping on my bike now," Luke replied. "Over."
"Sorry, trapped doing chores," Bobby grumbled. "Alex you can keep me on the channel or tell me later, over."
Alex shook his head subtly, and Reggie nodded. "He'll call you later Bobbers. Stay strong, over."
"Papi is going to walk me over in a few, and mami is giving me cookies to share. Chocolate chip, Alex's favourite," Julie said. "Over."
"I hope you're bringing enough for everyone, because you're crazy if you don't like chocolate chip," Reggie replied. "See you all soon, over and out."
Reggie sat there, softly rubbing Alex's back, breathing deep in hopes his friend would copy the rhythm, instead of the stuttered, rattling thing he was doing now. Humming a Whitney Houston song, grinning when Alex slowly started to sing along, his voice shaky and unsure.
They were still going when they heard Luke's bike hit the ground under the tree, and Julie's dad calling out to be home for supper-and that they were all welcome, as always.
"Alrighty, what's the problem?" Luke asked as he sat criss cross on an apple box he had claimed as a chair.
"Is it your parents?" Julie asked quietly as she handed Alex a cookie, then one to each of the other boys. "Are they being awful again?"
Alex waved his hand back and forth in a so-so motion, taking a bite of the cookie. "They started going on about high school starting next week, about the clubs I need to join, the girls I need to meet up with. They made it sound terrifying and horrible."
"Did you ask Livvie?" Luke asked around a mouthful of cookie.
Alex shook his head. "She's away with friends out of town, at some cabin or another. I don't know how to get in touch."
"Will she be home before she heads back to school?" Reggie asked, taking smaller bites of his treat, wanting to savour each bite.
"For a few days, mom insisted," Alex replied. "I'll talk to her then, but that's ages away."
"We're all in the same boat you know," Julie said quietly, nibbling her cookie. "None of us know what high school will be like. What the teachers are like, or the classes. I'm nervous."
"I'm not," Luke said with a shrug. "School is school. Same boring subjects, same awful food."
"You can front all you want, I know you aren't that brave," Reggie said, playfully shoving him. "But it'll be alright. We can look out for each other."
"We always have each other right?" Julie asked with a wide grin.
Alex finally managed a smile at that. "And we always will." He reached for another cookie. "Do you think the school has a set of drums I can use?"
"I bet they do," Luke mused. "Maybe we can see about us all taking the same music class, start up that band we always talked about."
"You're never giving up on that are you?" Julie asked with an eye roll.
"Nope!" Luke replied jubilantly. "We all rock, we all play instruments. Julie's dad knows all those club owners to help us get gigs, and can film us."
"Bobby's lola has the van, and she'd drive us around, until we can," Alex added.
"I can design a super cool logo for us, if we ever decide on a name," Reggie piped up.
"Well let's get to high school first and we can figure the rest out later," Julie said. "For now let's get out of this tree house, I can hear it creaking every time one of us moves and I'm terrified it'll collapse under us."
At that the wood gave an ominous groan and they all shared a look, scrambling out of the tree house, which was still standing when they were on the ground, but Alex silently thought if any of them tried to go in it again they would be coming down with it.
"So, what's for supper?" he asked Julie. "It's not your dad's spaghetti is it?"
"Come on, Ray's spaghetti isn't that bad," Reggie argued.
"Yes it is," Alex and Luke chorused.
Julie giggled at that. "It's mami's night to cook, so it's probably going to be tamales and pork adobo bowls."
"Yum!" Reggie exclaimed. Then he picked up the walkie. "Hey Bobbers, you up for Rose's cooking for dinner? Over."
"Anything beats leftover meatloaf," Bobby's voice came down the line. "I'll be there in thirty, then you can tell me what I missed at the meeting. Over."
"You're supposed to say over and out Robert," Luke teased. "Over."
Alex grinned as he listened to his friends squabble, laughing and joking with each other. Knowing that despite their arguing, he knew he could count on them-no matter what. And he always would.

Juke au request:
where sunset curve is famous, julie carrie and flynn are backup dancers for this big epic gig and Luke sees julie right there on the spot onstage
👀
I got that vivid idea last night I can't write if my life so I asked someone else to write it but they don't write fir that ship it would mean a lot to me to see this fleshed out
hello! sorry i don’t really do requests anymore cause i’m nowhere near as motivated to write jatp fics, but here’s how i think this could pan out:
ok so julie being a backup dancer feels a little ooc for me in the way that i think she should always be the star of whatever she’s doing — and that although luke would be intrigued to see her cause she’s very Pretty, it wouldn’t be enough to fully captivate him. they both bonded over music and it’s how he fell for her so deeply
SO
my idea is that julie finds herself being a backup dancer with flynn and carrie because it was her only way to keep her promise: she still can’t bring herself to sing again after her mom’s death but rose made her promise to always be involved with music, to always have it in her life. so julie does the next best thing: she chooses to dance - she’s still surrounded by music all the time, it’s just slightly different to what she’s used to: she doesn’t sing
and maybe. maybe at this event/gig/festival that both luke and julie find themselves in, that’s where they first meet. i’m thinking that perhaps luke coincidentally walks past her backstage at some point before their performance and hears her hum a song (maybe one of theirs? maybe one by rose and the petal pushers?) and it peaks his interest cause 1. it’s his song (or a song by a legend called rose molina and he doesn’t often hear people listening to rose and the petal pushers) and 2. cause even with just the soft humming he can hear the quality of this girl’s voice
but before he can backtrack and approach her, maybe talk to her about music, he gets called over for sound check and then it’s just a busy day and he kind of forgets/lets it go
that is until later on when he sees the same girl dancing on stage and is a little surprised she isn’t the one singing — and shit, he also notices that she’s kinda cute too.
he’s Intrigued even more at this point. because he thinks he saw her look a little happier humming to a song backstage than she does dancing her heart out onstage
and now he wants to know more
cue him looking her up on instagram, and reggie and alex rolling their eyes at him. cue him going way back down her old posts until he stumbles on the earliest ones on her insta and it’s a short clip of her…singing
like singing singing. and now he’s sat there on their tour bus, mouth hanging open and heart beating in his throat because holy shit this is the most beautiful voice he’s ever hear
so he shoots his shot….and DMs her 👀

JATP vampire AU!
Helloooo!!! Sorry on the delay, haven't had a lot of spare writing spoons lately with school! But I love this idea, here we go!!!
Okay first off, I am a sucker (no pun intended) for the Molina family being legacy vampires. The family line on Rose's side is largely vampiric in some form. Of course there is variation as to how strong it is and what abilities and needs/limitations various people have, as genetics still exist and stuff. There's also a fair amount of relationships between humans and vampires, cause screw Twilight rules, being being close to a vampire as a human is not a death wish.
Ray and Rose talked a lot about her turning him when they got engaged, but ended up deciding against it. There's a fair amount of potential complications with turning and there's no guarantee that the one being turned would share the same set of abilities and needs as the one turning them. Rose was safe walking in the sun, but her sister Victoria burns at the drop of a hat. They decided the potential benefits weren't worth the risks.
In this universe, nonhuman beings like vampires, wereanimals, fae, etc. aren't really a secret, but they also aren't super well understood or known by the general public. It's kinda similar to those statistics you'll see in the real world of things like "X% of people in the US have red hair, and X% of people in the US [insert medical condition/gender/view/whatever here], so if you know someone who has red hair, you probably also know someone who [insert same thing]." Those kinds of things exist all over in this AU, but with vampires and stuff. A small percentage of the population, low understanding, but not a secret. Lots of misinformation.
ANYWAYS BACK TO THE FUN STUFF! Julie is an interesting first child for Ray and Rose, cause she is fairly sensitive to the sun (Which they find out by accident...), semi blood dependent, and can and will turn into a bat for little to no reason. The bat thing is particularly confusing, because neither Rose nor any of her family that lives nearby have that particular ability. And Julie is a hider. Insert large amounts of parental panic every time they wake up to find that she's not in her crib. At least she's not coordinated enough to open doors till she's at least 4 or 5, so they figure out how to safely close her in when she's too young to know how to find her way back home if she got outside.
Carlos is by comparison basically a standard human baby... they think at first. All good in the sun, never shows much interest in his sister and mom's blood beverages, and (thankfully) never changes shape. But, as they come to find out when he wakes up screaming and almost crushes Ray's finger, he did pick up some of the strength and speed from Rose's side of the family, along with her bright eyes and mischievous grin. They also come to understand that, despite not needing or wanting blood to drink, he does have the strong sense of smell that vampires used to use for hunting. This makes things like daycare impossible cause it's just too strong.
Then we got the boys. We still have an accident just before they play a major gig at the Orpheum, but instead of poisoned street dogs, Luke, Reggie, and Alex get caught in an attack by a vampire extremist group. They all pull through okay, though it was touch and go for a moment there with Reggie, but they all end up turned.
Luke's folks are freaked by it but glad that he's alive and start trying to adjust to the whole situation. Reggie's parents are very divided as to what to do about him. So much so that they spend more time fighting each other than helping him. He spends a lot of nights at Luke's. Alex's parents disown him as soon as they find out from the hospital.
Alex ends up as the Molina's foster kid after getting released. It's unusual, cause they mostly do temporary placement in a crisis, but there aren't any other foster families in the area that have vampire blood and can help him adjust. It takes him a while to settle in with them, what with how different the family dynamic is on top of the whole vampire thing, but they make it work. He and Julie become fast friends. She helps talk him down after he turns into a bat the first time in the middle of a panic attack and the rest is history.
As far as vamp tendencies, Alex gets the bat form, the pointy teeth, and the strong sense of smell. He also sunburns really easily, but that could also be tied to the fact that he's so frigging white. Alex is pretty sure the vamp thing made it a lot worse though. Luke got the speed and the sun sensitivity(not gonna kill him, but it does hurt if he stays out too long), plus a blood craving that freaks his parents out more than once. He ends up officially meeting Julie for the first time when he breaks open her locker in desperation cause he can smell her blood bottle inside. Julie is MAD. Reggie is kinda in the middle of the blood reliance scale, still loves the sunshine, and nearly breaks the knobs on several doors in his house before he befriends the Molina family and starts sleeping over there more often than not.
As far as the rest of the characters, Bobby stays human and friends with all the guys through everything. Carrie, Nick, and Flynn are both humans, as is Trevor(Trevor and Bobby are different people here). There are a few other nonhumans at LFHS, but none in the music program so no one knows them well.
Willie is new at LFHS the fall after the guys get turned. He says he just moved here with his dad, Caleb (GOOD DAD CALEB FOREVER!). They're in the art program, but Alex, Reggie, and Julie keep randomly running into them at stuff and become friends. Willie is kinda quiet in general, but they all spot little bits of a more bright, fun loving personality from time to time. At first Alex lowkey worries that he's having home issues, but then he runs into them after finishing a gig with the guys, and Willie has their hair up for once. It's messy, but Alex can't help but notice the healed but obvious scars on the side of his neck, just below his left ear. They look pretty similar to Alex's own.
And thus the secret is out, at least to the little vamp family being formed. Willie got removed from his bio family cause of substance abuse on the part of his parents, and bounced through a handful of foster homes. One of them, the one right before Caleb, had an uncle who was a vampire. Turning Willie wasn't exactly intentional, but it happened regardless. This was when Willie was like 11. Willie was stuck in the hospital for a while cause they had a rough transformation, and then were placed with Caleb when they finally got out. He fully expected Caleb to hate him, but turns out Caleb is a werepanther, turned as a little kid, so he kinda gets it. They figure it out together and end up getting along really well! Caleb moved to LA for work stuff, and Willie was eager for a fresh start after some rumors that had gone around at his old school. And he's very happy to find the lil family!
Ack I'm sorryyyyyy this is so long!!! I'm having too many thoughts!!! I'll shut up now!!!! Hope you enjoyed!!!

Black (stupid) songwriting journal of fate - Part I
This "Jatp/Kimi no Na wa (Your name)"-AU has been pestering me for months. Every time I watch this movie, my brain goes "JUKE", and, well ... Happy Juke Jeudi!
Part I / Part II / Part III
(Also, contains spoilers for Kimi no na wa/Your name):
It's been a year since Julie's mom passed away, and Julie's still struggling to find her feet. With music still being banned from her life, she's about to lose her spot in her school's music program.
With the pressure from her teachers, her best friend's expectations, Carrie's bullying, and her dad's worries about her mental health, she blames her general exhaustion and anxiety when the dreams start.
In her dreams, she inhabits the body of a boy. his name's Luke; he's about her age and has a rocky relationship with his parents due to his untameable passion for music and his band, Sunset Curve. (A cruel twist of fate in Julie's eyes.)
Until Julie pieces together that they AREN'T dreams. One day, she arrives at school, and people keep whispering when she passes by, and Carrie is glaring daggers at her, and Nick, the boy she has a crush on, suddenly acknowledges her with an approving nod. Flynn files Julie in: Not only did she finally stand up to Carrie's bullying the day before, but she also "borrowed" Nick's guitar -- literally snatched it out of his hands -- to play a song in front of the entire music class, including Miss Harrison and Principal Lessa. (She didn't sing, though. But her deadline to prove herself in music class was extended.)
Flynn starts humming the song's melody, and Julie thinks it sounds oddly familiar. But she's too horrified to care a lot. (It's "Now or Never".)
Julie realizes that there are gaps in her memories -- entire days that she can't recall -- and they correlate with the nights the dreams occur (once or twice per week), concluding that while she's in Luke's body, his soul is stuck in hers.
She also deducts that the swaps began when she started using an old, discarded songwriting journal she'd found.
Apparently, the journal belongs to Luke -- as he owns the exact same journal and the songs were all written by him, and Julie has no idea why there are two versions of the same notebook or how it came into her possession.
More importantly, the journal allows her to communicate with Luke.
They lay down rules that mostly revolve around not meddling with their private lives. But to their mutual dismay, they both tend to overstep. Luke keeps snooping around (he digs up 'Wake up') and accidentally lands Julie a date with Nick. Meanwhile, Julie tries to mend Luke's relationship with his mom.
Their unsolicited meddling worsens things, though. Luke pressuring Julie into music just puts extra stress on her. And "Luke" (Julie) making promises on one day, then going back on them the next day, strains his relationship with his mom even more.
Yet, as time passes and their communication via the journal intensifies, they learn more about each other and form a friendship based on support, respect, and admiration.
Julie realizes she's been sacrificing such a crucial part of her soul for over a year and, with Luke's constant encouragement, finds the strength to play "Wake up". Luke, seeing how her mom's death affected Julie and made her suffer for so long, learns that time is limited and that there might be a day when he can't fix things with his parents anymore. (But he needs music to communicate. Thus, he starts working on "Unsaid Emily".)
Their feelings for each other keep evolving, making both realize they are maybe in love. But they don't have the courage to confess their feelings yet.
Eventually, Luke invites her to a gig. Since Julie has become such an important part of his life, he wants to meet her in person and be there when they play The Orpheum and have their big breakthrough.
When Julie arrives there on the agreed day, she finds The Orpheum destroyed.
Two years ago, it burned down, killing a dozen people, including most members of an aspiring band called Sunset Curve, who were supposed to play their showcase that night.

Thinking about that universe that existence where we got a Jatp Halloween special. For us, there were many routes that could have been traveled down for the Halloween special,
There’s the, nothing too extravagant just like the Disney Channel Halloween special (Monstober was my shit, I ate that shit up as child) episode type thing where the main character’s school is decorated, there’s the a and b plot to the episode that links up at the end.
We just see Julie’s school halls so festive for Halloween, Luke’s admiring the festiveness there is a dawning the halls, he’s pointing at the ghost cutout decorations and being like “That’s stereotyping 😭” Plot A follows like Julie, Luke, Reggie and Alex brainstorming costume ideas for the band for their gig later that night bc Halloween baby, prime time for the Julie and the Phantoms band to play. Plot B is like Carlos trying to keep Julie’s secret of the boys being ghosts from Ray even though throughout the episode the man is finding more and more reasons to suspect something.
There’s the like lore route that could have been done, like in Jatp’s universe, are like ghosts affected bc it’s Halloween? Are there more ghosts that are our now bc of Halloween? Can Julie see those ghosts? Could the boys get like a special ghost ability for one night bc of Halloween? Within the lore route, there’s the possibility that more could have been learned about the boy’s lives. Like Julie visiting the Patterson’s on Halloween and Emily taking the opportunity to flip through a photo album where it’s just years and years worth of childhood photos of Luke, Alex, Reggie and Bobby together, and the group costumes they all had to go Trick-or-Treating with. (Julie finds it kind of funny in one picture bc there’s one where the group went as Ghostbusters but Bobby was the Ghostbuster and then Luke, Alex and Reggie where the classic ghosts in the white sheets)
Side note, knowing how the Hollywood Ghost Club is normally, Caleb must run that shit to a tee during Halloween. Imagine how popping that club is then

Moodboard and summary for a hypothetical fic I haven't actually written yet for @jatp-sci-fi-week , Free Day
Luke Patterson’s life is pretty normal. Sure his parents are older than any of his friends’ parents are, and sure every time he gets caught playing the guitar they act like he’s admitted to doing drugs but he loves them and he knows they love him. Besides he’s always been pretty good at sneaking around. So despite his parents irrational fears he’s got his guitar, and he’s got his band, and he’s got a pretty good life. He’s even got growing feelings for the new girl at school, Julie, a wrecking ball of musical talent in her own right. But his life turns out to be anything but normal when Julie finds an old photo album while going through her mom’s stuff, an album full of pictures of her mom in high school. An album full of pictures of Luke in high school. Then the truth comes crashing down on him like a cartoon anvil from the sky. He’s not the original Luke Patterson. He’s a clone his parents had been desperate enough to beg some shady, unethical scientist named Caleb to make after their first son got himself killed before a gig eating a tainted hotdog. Suddenly some things in his life start to make a lot more sense while others make no sense at all. What was his connection to Julie’s mom and who is he really? And if he is a clone of some guy who has already lived and died, is he a real person at all? Maybe he’s just a ghost.

For the jatp head cannon ask game: #4
omfg i love this headcanon so so much
4. Dirti Candi's first "gig" was at their middle school's Battle Of The Bands.
It was almost 2 weeks after Julie, Flynn and Carrie had stopped being friends so when Flynn found out that Carrie was gonna perform she decided that her and Julie would join the BOTB and beat her.
It was a great plan until they had to come up with a name and neither Julie nor Flynn could agree on anything (this is where double trouble came from !! )
Dirti Candi ended up winning and Rose sat both the girls down to have a long talk ab forgiveness and compromise when she found out

Pokemon AU
!!!!!!! This is the best ask you could have possibly sent me, jatp and pokemon are two of my favorite things in the world. You're getting way more than 5 headcanons (shoutout to @innytoes for creating Willie's pokemon Ziggy the Zigzagoon and Alex's emotional support Jigglypuff)
Julie prefers butterfly pokemon and her main is a Beautifly named Glitter (she named her when she was like six, okay? She thinks it's cute). She also has a Butterfree and Dustox, and after Rose passed away Julie took in Rose's Eevee, Viola. Viola is ready to evolve but it feels wrong to Julie to evolve her when Rose never got to, so she keeps putting it off until the boys enter her life and she starts to heal. Viola ends up evolving into an Espeon and acts as Julie's guard dog
Flynn has a galarian Farfetch'd named Celery, who seems very in tune with Flynn's emotions and whenever someone is annoying her, Celery will smack them with her leek stalk. Other than that, she only has legendaries, but she hides them until the time is right bc she loves watching people react in shock when she pulls them out. She has an Entei named Philip, a Moltres named Ash, and most terrifyingly, a Mewtwo. No one knows how she got Mewtwo or why they're so attached to her, but no one messes with her after they learn she has them.
Luke, of course, goes out of his way to collect musical pokemon. His mains are a low key form Toxtricity named Slash and a Meloetta named Joan who helps him write songs. He also has a Loudred named Boomer who helps amplify his guitar at gigs.
Alex likes psychic types bc they help him feel in control. He has his emotional support Jigglypuff Whitney (thanks Inny!) and a Slowpoke named Sleepy that he uses as a pillow. He also has a Kirlia named Kiki and they love to dance together.
As per Inny's wonderful fic, Reggie rescues pokemon from bad trainers and therefore doesn't really follow a theme. He has his Jolteon named Sparky and his Growlithe Buddy, as well as a Golem named Rocky that Reggie loves to cuddle despite Golems being incredibly uncomfy to cuddle with
Willie of course has Ziggy the Zigzagoon, and when he starts collecting more, he favors electric types. He gets a Mareep named Mary (as in Mary Had A Little Lamb, which he sings to her all the time), and he also rescues a Shinx who has a damaged claw (and therefore can't communicate with his pack, leading to him being isolated.) He names the Shinx Inky and helps him develop new ways to communicated

Chaotic prompts: Sunset Curve and 23, please?
23. That’s not a cat it’s an opossum.
“All right kids, let’s get you home.” Reggie yelled as he corralled his fellow bandmates out of the club they had snuck into. It was one of Luke’s ideas, get in, split up and talk up Sunset Curve. Get some word of mouth going in order to try and book more gigs. Overall it hadn’t been a bad evening. It went so well in fact that Luke and Bobby managed to get drinks from somewhere.
Reggie was currently shepherding his varying levels of drunk friends because Alex had insisted at least one person remain sober. Then Reggie, much to Alex’s chagrin and insistence it was a terrible decision making tool, lost the rock paper scissors tournament. As much as he’d complained about it, it sure didn’t stop Alex from drinking to the point where Reggie was essentially carrying the taller boy.
Honestly Reggie didn’t care either way. If anything, being the sober one meant he got to tease them more than they teased him for once. He wasn’t entirely sure if he would though. He debated with the idea as he yelled for Luke and Bobby to keep their giggling asses off the road and on the sidewalk.
This was going to be a long walk. They didn’t have enough money for a cab though and while Reggie was sober, Bobby refused to give him the keys to the van. Reggie is honestly not sure where Bobby even hid them and right now he was really hoping that they didn’t lose them at the club.
“Aaah look at the kitty.” Luke cooed as he dragged Bobby to some bushes. Luke continued to coo over the animal. Reggie snorted as Bobby soon joined the fawning. Yeah he was definitely going to use this to tease Bobby.
Reggie attempted to coach them to continue moving but was shushed by Alex. Literally, the drummer pressed his entire hand over Reggie’s mouth. “No, Reg, I wan’ na see the kitty too.”
Reggie attempted to sternly glare into Alex’s blue pleading eyes. It was a rare occurrence for Alex to attempt the puppy dog eye ploy so Reggie had no defense against it. Plus who doesn’t love a good cat. “Fine.” He mumbled through Alex’s hand.
Alex launched himself from Reggie’s shoulder and dangerously swayed to where Luke and Bobby were. Reggie shook his head with a chuckle as he approached his band, what was that hissing? That was not a cat’s hiss. Reggie quickly closed the distance and that was definitely not a cat.
“Shit. That’s not a cat it’s an opussum.” Reggie yelped as he attempted to yank Luke away before he could do something stupid like pick it up. He gambled on the wrong band member being stupid as Alex screeched after the oppusum hissed louder at HIS attempt at picking it up.
“God damn it, stop trying to pet the not-cat.” Reggie bellowed as now Bobby tried to comfort the oppusum. Reggie attempted to kick him away, his arms were full. A pouting Luke shouting that Reggie just wanted to keep all the cats to himself in one arm. A sobbing Alex crying he’ll be forever alone in the other.
Reggie groaned and cursed Bobby for being so protective of his van. “C’mon guys, you wanna see a dog? I know where we can find a nice dog.” It was a bit of a lie but Reggie was desperate to get the three focused on walking again. Yeah, he was definitely gonna tease them all about this later.

For the @jatp-adventevent prompt: Who likes Christmas the most and the least?
Day Seven: Ghost of Christmas Past <-AO3!
When Luke was a kid, Christmas was his favourite time of year. He loved the food, and the presents, the decorations and the music. Just everything about the whole season made him come alive.
Right after Thanksgiving, his mom would take out the Advent candles, and he would be vibrating, knowing it was time. Slowly the house would be transformed; wreaths of holly, strings of lights, tinsel adorning the large pine in the corner. Brightly coloured paper and bows started covering boxes-all of which he was not allowed to shake-and cards decorated the mantle piece.
He’d watch in wonder as his mom baked up a frenzy, weighing, mixing, measuring each and every ingredient to make cookies galore. Shortbreads, sugar cookies, snowballs, snickerdoodles, little raspberry filled ones, and she always let Luke help. Even if all he got to do was add sprinkles or a dusting of icing sugar, or even just lick the bowl, he delighted in helping her.
As time went on though, Christmas lost some of its magic. First when he learned The Truth About Santa. Then when the gifts became more practical, less fun. Sure he needed new socks, but he missed the years when he got a new Gameboy or a guitar for the holiday over clothes.
Then, as the band starts to take off, it gets bad.
His mom wants him at home, as a family, not playing gigs. It’s not like he was going to play on the day itself, but she wanted him home throughout December, and each time he argued that the band was important, his music was important, she would shout back that the family was important too.
“Not if you can’t support me it’s not!”
“Then go! If you truly don’t care about this family, about this holiday, take your guitar and go!”
Luke won’t ever forget the way the lights from the tree reflected in his mother’s tears as he ran out. Or the way he could still hear the radio blasting Christmas songs as he stormed out, the slamming of the door echoing two broken hearts.
Luke didn’t know that would be his last Christmas alive.
Honestly being a ghost didn’t make it any better. Because he could see his mom putting up those same decorations she always had, still making those same cookies, though she mostly gave them away now. Could see the unopened presents stacked in the closet of his room, collecting dust. Could see the haunted look in her eyes when she looked at the third stocking in the box, and never hung it up.
He longed for the power to haunt her, but she was no Scrooge, and him no Marley. She deserved to grieve how she wanted, to keep celebrating, even as muted as the joy was. Luke wondered if she could even bear to think of that last fight, those last angry words, because they cut him like a knife, repeating in his heart as WHAM! played on in the kitchen.
He wished he could change things, could at least let them know he was okay. Julie had let them know he was sorry, had brought them his song, but he doubted even that could heal the sadness that was sure to linger today.
He watched as his mom hung one last decoration on the tree, a little picture of him as a baby in a cutesy frame. She pressed a kiss to it, whispering, “Merry Christmas Luke.”
Luke sniffled, wiped away the tear streaking down his face, and pressed a kiss to her temple, intangible and cool. “Merry Christmas mom. Wish I could celebrate with you.”
Luke turned away, getting ready to poof back to the garage, back where Christmas didn’t exist because neither Reggie nor Alex were keen to celebrate either, and just prayed they could wait out this holiday without regret eating him alive.
But he still snagged a few cookies to give to Julie and her family. Even if he didn’t want anything to do with this holiday any more, he could still do something nice for them.
He didn’t even notice the tin marked with Julie’s name on it sitting on the kitchen counter. All he saw was the memories of his mom and him, baking together, happy and whole, and never to be again.
