BG3 headcannon for you: Gale and Lae'zel are besties at camp. Gale gives Lae'zel the respect she deserves when it comes to her knowledge of mindflayers. Lae'zel can ask Gale about Faerun without getting a sarcastic or judgy response because she is literally alien to this place.

I love this headcanon and it is mine now

tbh I love Lae'zel, she's my favorite companion next to Astarion. She's incredible and anything with her is an instant favorite.

Durge questions 10, 11, and 15!

10. What motivates your Dark Urge to either embrace or resist the tadpole?

He’s somewhat hesitant at the idea of it initially, but quickly finds the appeal and power in abusing it (not that it happens very quickly- as a drow with really high intimidation, most everyone in act 1 just lets him do what he wants)- that, and his Dream Guardian is Tonia (his adoptive mother) He doesn’t remember her, but he does immediately recognize her as a comforting presence that he wants to listen to. She says to use them for both his own safety and power, and he feels inclined to listen.

That being said, he doesn’t take it well when the Dream Guardian turns out to be a Mindflayer and he straight up refuses to use the astral tadpole. (Like. Stomps on it and everything)

11. What motivates your Dark Urge to embrace or resist the Urge?

He’s pretty self indulgent and finds he enjoys the power trip murder provides- he also finds it to be soothing, both in the sense that he personally enjoys killing and because it keeps the Urge itself from being overwhelming

He also feels a deep anxiety at the idea of trying to resist it- like something terrible would happen if he did. (He later recognizes that as a fear of angering Bhaal. Fear and trauma that transcend amnesia, babyyyyyy)

15. What is your Dark Urge’s greatest fear?

Disappointing and or angering Bhaal. He can’t remember specifics, but he knows that everything in him tells him to not let it happen again

Bonus points because he also hates being alone, which will inevitably happen every time he chooses Bhaal over his own interests (the only time he doesn’t is in the Good Timeline TM where he’s accidentally put onto the path of being a good person and taking his own autonomy back. He ends up screaming at Bhaal before he dies :>)

Buuuuut he gets to have Sceleritas around, so that helps a little!

Work's been very stressful lately and I got hooked on @jellymellydraws 's "I've Got You" fic to unwind — it's a treat. Astarion is a bard, Alfira's joined camp and nothing bad has happened (...yet...?), the ensemble cast is really well-handled, I am having a fantastic time.

Anyway it got me thinking about whether or not our Durges could be friends. I think the answer is yes. :>

I’m about to be exposed for my terrible taste in music so here goes. To make this more fun for y’all - under each song I will give my Durgetash-flavored assessment, even for songs which absolutely do not fit at all.

9/10 starting strong. I actually think this fits Durgetash quite well especially with Gortash's built-myself-from-nothing narrative.

7/10 durgetash rating - this is kind of like the song that they both wish they could feel about each other. Like "yea I wanna be the dude who can kiss you all sweet but if we don't rip each other apart in bed Im gonna get lobotomized so"

Oh man I hate that this is here and I'm really not big on Shawn Mendes because he's a little too bubblegum for me but this song is catchy. 8/10 Durgetash rating due to the lyrics - a dark cover of this song would fit durgetash perfectly. Its essentially "I can't believe my murder girlfriend keeps dragging me into the sewers but damn she's hot"

11/10 Durgetash rating. 10/10 for the lyrics and +1 because Enver Gortash loves Panic! At The Disco.

So yea I'm a musical fan and yes this is a durgetash song for me. Let me sell you on the vision first. Durge gets lobotomized and Orin tells Enver and he immediately wants to blow the whole plan to shit because the love of his life is gone but then the whole ass Church of Bane is like nah just like drink her away my guy and so the Banites Party Hard (tm) and Enver is like fine I'll stick with the plan but he's dead inside. 10/10

10000/10 Durgetash rating. My sister Orin says 'Oh she's just being bhaalspawn.' (is this the most embarrassing song that could ever come up? you betcha.)

This is definitely The Vibe for them. 10/10 just Durgetash being nasty. Check yourself for whiplash from the last one.

I wanted to say like 5/10 but "I don't want to keep secrets just to keep you" got me like hmmmm. Also "he looks up grinning like a devil." hmmmmmm. So I'll give it a 9/10 under one condition: default Dragonborn Durge would have to be in the music video for this in a white frilly dress.

This could probably really fit some people's Durges but it doesn't fit my idea of Durge so I'm only gonna give it a 2/10 durgetash rating. However? Orin could rock the shit out of this vibe. 10/10 Orin song.

15/10 Durgetash song. Hot as fuck, could fit both pre and post tadpole. Even mentions a priest. Strong ending.

Here’s a snippet from my next longfic chapter:

“She told me that you’d rip my neck apart,” Tali breathed as Astarion kissed that very neck, sucking and nipping at her flushed skin as her heart began to race. It was a proper percussion to his internal chorus, picking up steeply in volume as his fang made a small nick on her pale skin.

Gods. The need he felt for that blood, the longing for more…

She made a slight, needy sound as he lapped at the cut without sucking, desperately controlling himself from biting her without giving something back first. He would wait for permission to feed, he had to be able to control himself in these matters.

“She’s just jealous that it’s not her mouth on your pretty skin right now,” he whispered into her ear as he expertly unbuttoned her shirt with nimble, practiced fingers. The bard wore clothes with too many godsdamned buttons…

“I don’t think she fancies me t…”

“Then you’re dense,” Astarion cut her off, pulling back with an incredulous grin as the bard narrowed her eyes.

“I had no problem picking up on your amorous intent,” Tali huffed and Astarion ignored her, parting her oversized shirt with the back of his fingers, revealing the bard to the moonlight.

Delicate, pretty thing that she was.

Ethereal elven beauty.

At least that’s what they called it.

He had heard that awful phrase thousands of times himself, dripping from so many loathesome drunken lips as he took or had been taken. But that was no matter. Not now.

"Do you like watching me get fucked, puppy?" She asks, watching as Gortash rocks his hips with her. He nods, flaring his nostrils. "Earlier was just a show, you pathetic little man." She continues. He closes his eyes, resting back on the ground. Kaine chuckles as he slips his hand between her thighs, quickly finding her overstimulated clit. She whines as she bites her lip and brings her attention back to Kaine.

"He fucks me so much better than you. His cock is so much bigger too. How embarrassing." Penelope manages to say, pushing her foot down further. Gortash spits out the gag, his chest getting redder. "Just like that, my beautiful girl. Tell me more." He says, his eyes locked on Kaine's pounding. "Don't tell her what to do, filthy Banite." Kaine snipes.

I want to draw my Tav & talk about them more on this blog, but I wanted to introduce them properly first. Meet Hemlock, my godless Oathbreaker paladin who's nevertheless trying his best all the time:

I drew Century already over here! Their tag is #durge: century. It was important to me that they be Very Pathetic At All Times; never more than 30 seconds away from dissolving into tears.

Hemlock is also a mess and also about two steps away from a nervous breakdown for most of the game, but at least he hides it better. He's just starting to crack, whereas Century has already been smashed to smithereens, you feel? (Astarion gets his teeth into both of them, for better or worse...)

I just really like characters who're in the midst of a faith/personal identity crisis, it fuels me.
