hello dear rrr fandom: we need to make a backstory for jenny.
we all know (and seem to agree) that sita is a doctor who helps revels and manages the village as well as being an absolute girlboss who can be soft and nice and kick ram's ass (affectionately) and she's also really smart and in most interpretations knows at least a bit of english.
what about jenny tho? I don't have any stories myself but we could collectively come up with one. surface level stuff like jenny never having an actual friend cause everyone is so fake or manipulative is a thing we made canon without voicing it but that's not enough. what about her parents? it is to my understanding that scott and the blonde bitch are her aunt and uncle, what about her parents? are they dead? do they not care about her? does she have siblings? where was she raised? how was she raised? is she just kind even tho she's probably been taught that non-white people are stupid, barbaric, and a waste of time? or did someone teach her that?
perhaps she had a nanny, a caretaker that was Indian, someone who had to take care of her and had no choice in doing so but decided to take the opportunity and teach the young child kindness, to not make her a monster like the other british people. maybe that's why she was so kind to malli? why even tho she saw bheem in pain she never tried to stop her uncle and aunt. maybe she's seen what happen to does that speak up, maybe this isn't her first time seeing people being hurt like that, maybe her nanny had to go through something similar when they found out she was teaching jenny kindness, "manipulating her" as they called it.
or maybe go a different route and just make scott and blondy her parents, and explore the type of childhood she would have had. maybe add a little detail when she gives the prison maps to bheem, maybe have her ask him to kill her parents, or have her hide it from everyone until someone catches on. that would add another layer to her feeling guilty for what the british did to India. you can do a found family trope if you want to.
I'm just saying, there are so many different approaches to her and it seems to me like she's a bit one-dimensional even in the fandom. I would gladly write fics or elaborate more but school makes it impossible for me to have time for that. let's not just give backstories and flesh out a few characters, let's do it with all of them, let's make a whole different level to rrr. I would also love for people to look more into malli's mom and what she went through. laachu and what his thoughts are on ram as well as how he found out about bheem being flogged and how he even found him after that. babai needs a personality too, most of the time he's just there and that's it .perhaps even scott, I would like to get a peak at his thoughts, his wife is a character that interests me too but idk what to do with her cause again, one-dimensional.
I'll try to work stuff out but for now, all you'll get is this vomited info dump that I forgot why I started writing in the first place. see ya ig

“It’s Vance…Vance Hopper..” he said, still on the floor. ‘Why did you ask him for his name?! That was so dumb of you already knew his name.’
Your thoughts were quickly cut off short when he grabbed your hand and pulled himself up off the ground. “So are you okay?” You asked him.
“Other than my butt stinging. Yeah… I’m okay.” He joked. You laughed at his comment. You didn’t know what to do, you're not good with conversations!
“Well, I’m glad you’re okay.” You said to him turning your back towards him. Slowly walking away wishing you had talked with him a bit longer.
“Hey! Wait a second.” You turned around seeing Vance quickly walking to you. “Do you ever want to hang out?” He asked, looking at you.
‘Is he trying to ask me out?’ you questioned yourself. You almost said ‘yes!’ Keyword. Almost. Until you remember you already had plans.
“Uh maybe another time. I already have plans.” You answered. He kinda looked a bit sad when you said that. Which made you hate yourself for saying that.
“Or..” he looked a bit confused but brightened a bit. You took out a piece of paper and a black pen and handed the paper and the pen.
“Or you could write down your phone number and we could plan out when we can hang out?” You stated well mostly preyed that he would do that. “Yeah sure.”
Vance took the paper and pen then wrote down his phone number. Then quickly handed it to you “I will call you when I have time. Have a great day Vance.” You said to him.
You quickly walked away with a radiant smile and bright red checks. you couldn’t believe you had the Vance Hopper phone number. He wanted to hangout with you.
You could’ve shouted out of happiness, you couldn’t wait until you could call him. You opened the paper.
‘***-***-**** i can't wait until we can officially hang out :) - V.H’ you went scarlet red. His handwriting was messy, sure. But it was Vance's handwriting.
You sighed happily then you realized that you needed to go with JENNIFER AT THE DINER! You almost forgot after talking to Vance. You quickly ran home to get the money and at least try to look better.
Tumblr media
“Color me your color, baby. Color me your car Color me your color, darling I know who you are.”
You already heard the music playing inside, the diner was a light colorful baby blue color. With some baby pink color in some places.
There were many people in the diner since it was a very popular hang out spot, for people of all ages.
You walked inside and you already saw your friend. Jennifer is sitting in one of the booths, already seeing the menu. You walked up to her.
“Hey Jennifer, sorry for being late.” “I literally thought you stood me up!” Jennifer said, looking up to you.
You just nodded and sat cross from her, “so why are you late? You normally are always on time.” She stated.
“Oh well it’s becau-“ You were quickly interrupted.
“Hello my name is Jenny. Are you two ladies ready to order?” A lady asked both of you, she was wearing the diner’s uniform.
A bright blue baby dress with a baby pink apron with some white in her dress. She had her hair in a bun, with bright red lipstick that stood out. The lady named Jenny had a smile on her face when she was looking at you and Jennifer. With a notepad so she can write down whatever you two were going to order.
“Two milkshakes! A vanilla one and..” Jennifer said while looking at you for an answer.
“Uh..a strawberry one please.” You spoke.
The lady named Jenny wrote down what you two said, looking up from her notepad. She looked at you both.
“Coming right up!” She quickly walked away from your guy's table.
“Come up off your color chart. I know where you're coming from.”
“Anyways, why were you late?” Jennifer repeated her question.
“Oh right!” You said looking brighter, you slowly started smiling.
In all honesty you couldn’t wait to tell Jennifer what happened with you and Vance. It was a dream come true, the fact you got Vance Hopper phone number. And the cherry on top was he wanted to hang out with you. Yes you!! You couldn’t believe it.
“So you know me and Vance always walk in the same direction for school?” “Duh, you told me already.” Jennifer replied.
“So basically he asked to hang out and he gave me his phone number!” You quickly told her.
It was so quickly that Jennifer couldn’t even process what you even said. Thankfully she did.
“Call me (call me) on the line. Call me, call me any, anytime.”
“No way! No fuc-“ Jennifer was cut off by the server.
“There are you two milkshakes.” She spoke while sitting down with your guys milkshakes on the table.
“Is that all?” “Yeah that’s all.” Jennifer answers to her quickly, trying to make her go away.
The server just smiled and walked away, “Anyways! NO FUCKING WAY!!” She smiled at you. You can totally know she was so happy for you. She was grinning ear to ear giggling like a little girl.
“He totally has eyes on you, I mean Vance never gives out his number.” Jennifer stated she was right, Vance never gives out his number. Since he doesn’t really asks girls, all he does is try to beat his score on Pinball.
“Well I don’t know if he has eyes on me, for sure.” You added a straw inside of the milkshake and took a sip of your strawberry milkshake.
“Oh come on! It’s just the lowdown.” Jennifer said, also sipping her milkshake.
“Call me, call me any, anytime. Call me (call me) I'll arrive. You can call me any day or night.”
“Maybe he just wants to be friends?” You spoke looking at her. You did really think he just wanted to ‘hang out’ and you just got the wrong idea. I mean why you? There are many prettier girls that already have a crush on Vance. But a small part of you really thinks he asked you out.
“Wait what did the paper say?” “Oh here!” You took out the paper that had the number.
Jennifer laughed a bit “Jeepers creepers! He has such horrible writing.” She said while putting the paper down.
You laughed too “I know right!” “Okay how about this. We do a little sleepover and call him?” She said with a smirk.
“Maybe you two can ‘officially hang out’” Jennifer stated like how Vance wrote in the paper.
You smiled “That would be amazing!” You saw Jennifer smile “awww! You really do wanna hang out with him.” “NO WAIT I MEANT THE SLEEPOVER!”
Jennifer laughed hard “I know! I know! Just call your mom if that’s okay. There’s a phone next to the entrance.” She started drinking her milkshake.
“Call me. Cover me with kisses, baby. Cover me with love. Roll me in designer sheets.”
You headed to the phone and put in your mom's phone number for work. Your mom quickly picked up.
You spoke before she could. “Hey mom, I was wondering if I can stay overnight with Jennifer.” You said.
“Of course honey! That would be perfect since I have the Night Shift.” “Okay thanks mom.” You spoke nicely.
“Stay safe.” Then your mom hung up. “I wish you talked to me like that.” Jennifer giggled, you turned around.
“Oh shush!” You laughed.
“I'll never get enough. Emotions come, I don't know why. Cover up love's alibi. Call me (call me) on the line.”
Tumblr media
You two walked back to Jennifer's house, the sky already dark and you could see the stars in the dark blue sky. Jennifer unlocked her front door and opened it.
“Your parents aren’t home?” “Nope, they needed to go with my aunt or something.” She answered you with a smile.
You two headed for Jennifer's bedroom, you had already been in her room before. She has a bright and sort of dark yellow wall, with many different types of posters. With different brands and people like the ‘Runways’, ‘Blondie’, ‘The Go-Go’s’, etc. Her room was a mess but still clean at the same time. On her floor, there were magazines, different types of books, and some make-up scattered around.
It was very different from your room. There was a table with a mirror with different kinds of makeup all around. She also had magazines about different places she likes loved to read about. The room smelled like Coca-Cola and strangely enough like sweet food. On her bed there were plushies and on the bedside table was a phone.
“Sorry I didn’t have time to clean my room,” Jennifer said with a bit of embarrassment in her voice.
“Don’t worry about it. I don't mind at all.” You replied. I mean, in all honesty, you didn't care. It's her room, not yours.
You sat down on her bed while Jennifer was going to her Vinyl. Going through a box with records. “Any recommendations?” she spoke with a sweet smile on her face.
“Nope, it's up to you,” you replied, getting a magazine that was right next to you.
“Okay!” Jennifer answered sweetly, grabbing a record. The record quickly started, you remembered this song from the diner quite fast.
“Color me your color, baby Color me your car. Color me your color, darling I know who you are.”
“Wait Jennifer did you pick this from the diner?” you questioned her without looking at her, you have a small smile on your face.
All she did was nod while mumbling the lyrics, you still had the magazine in your hand and you turned it around. It was some sort of boy band? There were three boys in total. The first boy was in the middle with long blonde hair sitting down, the second one was on the right side standing with short brown hair, the third boy was on the left side with jet dark black hair looking kinda mad.
“I see you have taste.” Jennifer spoke sitting on the bed next to you.
“I totally think the black hair boy would be a nice kisser.” She said, smirking and giggling.
“Really? He looks like he hates life.” You laugh pointing at his face.
“I bet you like the blonde one.” She replied giggling winking at you.
“Come up off your color chart. I know where you're coming from. Call me (call me) on the line.”
You didn’t understand what she was trying to say until you looked at him again. His hair kinda looked like…
Vance’s hair.
You blushed hard “w-what! No.” You said, shaking your head.
“Aww someone’s blushing,” Jennifer said cheekily.
“Wait!” Jennifer spoke rather quickly, her face looking like she had a bright idea. Though you couldn’t know what her idea was.
“Call me, call me any, anytime. Call me (call me) I'll arrive You can call me any day or night”
“We- I mean YOU should call Vance’s” Jennifer quickly added.
You were lost for words, you had Vance's number. You should wait for him to call you right? I mean what could you say to him?? Without being weird about it or awkward. Should you guys just talk about something random or should plan out when you two can hang out?
Jennifer could easily tell what you were thinking. It was like she could read your mind. “Ok, you could know… Do some small talk and go on a date,” she states like it was something easy.
“Easy said than done,” you replied to her.
“Call me. Cover me with kisses, baby cover me with love. Roll me in designer sheets.”
“Since you are such a baby.” Jennifer quickly reached into the pocket of your jacket. And swiftly grabbed the note with Vance's number on it.
Then typed in his number on her phone. ‘Shit.’ you thought. “Wait no-” “it's ringing!!” Jennifer said quietly.
The phone was picked up. “What's cracking?” a sort of rough voice answered.
Jennifer was gigging and she shoved the phone onto you. You were lost with words, you didn't know what to say or even do. Your thoughts were quickly cut off by Vance.
“I'll never get enough emotions, I don't know why. Cover up love's alibi”
“Uh…hello?” He sounded annoyed. “Hey it's me,” you told him your name.
“Oh hey.” His voice was much softer and nicer than before. There was an awkward pause. Until Jennifer gave you a soft push on your shoulder.
“Right, so I was wondering when we could… You know hang out,” you spoke a little quiet since you were shy. You didn't know what to do.
“Oh! Uh tomorrow??” “yeah..that works,” you replied to him. Before you could end this really awful conversation. Jennifer took the phone.
“IT'S A DATE.” then hung up. “WAIT WHAT?” you said to her.
“Call me (call me) on the line. Call me, call me any, anytime. Call me (call me) I'll arrive when you're ready we can share the wine.”
“Come on, you two were so awkward in an annoying way and also in a cute way.” she answered smiling.
“See it wasn't that bad!” “It was bad. It was awful.” you spoke.
Tumblr media
“IT'S A DATE.” Vance heard in a different voice, not yours. Then the person hung up. He didn’t know who the hell that was, but right now he didn’t care for one second. He got a date with you.
He was blushing just a bit. Then he grew a love struck smile on him, he couldn’t wait to see you on your guys official date.
“Call me.”

So I’ve been working on making a series of flip lighter etching designs for the companions, but I’m doing a bunch of other stuff while I’m at it so these are the two I’ve got done so far.
These are done from the idea that lighters are an integral part of any survival kit, even if you don’t smoke you’ll probably need to start a fire somehow when roughing it. So my Fo4 OC Nora engraved these herself (with help on both the designs and how to do it since she isn’t an artist) to give as gifts to each of her companions. The robots and Strong will get something else, since they don’t get much use from lighters.
Nick Valentine
Heavily inspired by ‘The Raven’ - there’s a lot of great things Nick quotes but his line from this has to be one of the most memorable from the game, and a strong moment between Nora and him as it happens shortly after taking down Kellogg.
The Ravens lines about Lenore are a reference to Jennifer, and the link Nick and Nora share in lost love and finding solace in each other.
The flowers are hubflowers, the kind that grow over Jenny’s death site.
And his agency logo. I’m trying to keep one side of the design simpler than the other.
Preston Garvey
Minuteman sunshine man, of course he gets his factions logo, he’s held that shit together with duct tape and a prayer, but it paid off, and not just for him but the whole Commonwealth.
The quote is part of his ambient dialogue, he’ll simply say it anywhere at anytime when you’re nearby, but I think it’s a really good one.
I heavily associate Sunflowers with Preston, I mean he’s my sunshine guy, his smile literally lights up the world a lil. Also sunflowers soak up radiation and heal land, Preston would totally love them.
And of course, the sun motif from Sanctuary, since it’s such a central point to his and Nora’s meeting and story together. It’s more than just a settlement, it’s a community and a home for those who need exactly what the name states.

ʙᴇᴀᴜᴛʏ ʀᴇǫᴜɪʀᴇs sᴀᴄʀɪꜰɪᴄᴇ
Jennifer Christie is a 21-year-old girl. Beautiful, narcissistic. She grew up in a family of quite wealthy businessmen who gave their beloved daughter anything she wanted. Jenny grew up in luxury: dresses, bags, jewelry - for her these are just little things. Three years ago, she suddenly got wish to become a model, which her parents, of course, obediently fulfilled. Now Mrs. Christie is a popular model. Many agencies of that time would have liked to sign a contract with her, but the most of them were sent to hell by generous Jenny.
April 14, 1996, New York.
"That's not it! And this too!" with these words, the girl was sorting through her closet, which was literally bursting with lots of clothes from different designers. She had a contract signing with one of the agencies today. Of course, it didn't work out without persuasion, but Jenny decided to feel sorry for her manager and agreed.
This meeting means nothing to her, but you always have to look presentable.
Suddenly, the girl went to her tape recorder, covered with pink rhinestones. It was the first time Jenny had worked tirelessly, but the result was worth it. It would be a shame for a girl to have an ordinary gray tape recorder! She's not some kind of beggar.
Taking a CD of a song by a fairly popular band at that time, the room was filled with beautiful female voices.
Oh, say you'll be there ~ ♪
Jenny headed for the closet, but now moving to the beat of the vibing music.
I'm giving you everything ~ ♪
Jenny took three different dresses and threw them on the bed, they looked the best. And even though Jennifer still has a bunch of dresses, she still chose these ones.
All that joy can bring ~ ♪
Jenny danced around the room, darting past the mirror every now and then. It reflected the unearthly beauty of an African-American girl. Beautiful skin, gorgeous and lush curls, brown eyes, a few freckles, plump lips smeared with expensive glitter, which she probably bought abroad. She was wearing a white silk robe made to order, it fit her perfectly, and the image was complemented by yellow fluffy slippers.
This I swear, ow ~ ♪
The last line of the verse of the song sounded and the home phone rang.
"Oh, who is it now?" she went to the pink home phone. Her daddy bought it for her in Paris. It looked cute, elegant, a kind of curiosity that surprised everyone who came to visit Jennifer.
Picking up the phone, the girl held it to her ear.
"Excuse me, Miss Christie, they want to order an adver-" the man didn't finish his sentence.
"I'm not interested in it! How many times have I told you that I don't take ads? Or should I pay you a doctor to check your hearing?" the girl answered rudely. After all, who's he to be polite to him?
It was Jenny's manager, a man of 37 years of French descent, who helped her sign contracts. Well, although Miss Christie always decides for herself, and Mr. Martin is only needed for show.
The girl was just about to hang up when she suddenly remembered.
"Oh, yeah, you're picking me up today! I hope you don't have any problems with your memory and you haven't forgotten about my contract with Mr. Afton's modeling agency!" her voice sounded arrogant.
"Of course, of course, madam, is there something else?" Martin asked meekly in his French accent.
With a grunt, she put the phone back down. While they were talking, the song had already ended. Yeah, her mood to listen to music was gone now.
Her gaze fell on the bed, there were 3 dresses that Jennifer had selected.
Green with a circle, pale pink with lace bell sleeves and yellow with a black strap.
The girl threw away two dresses, namely a green and a yellow one. Yes, she was definitely in the mood to wear pink today.
Pink louboutins, a lace dress, a bow in her hair and an elegant handbag were perfectly combined. Soft-pink lipstick accentuated the beauty of her lips, and blush on her beautiful cheeks.
The girl twirled next to the mirror.
"Not bad, it could have been better. I'll have to buy more clothes, otherwise these are already… Too old and not fashionable." the girl said petulantly.
Her gaze fell on the clock on a white bedside table next to a huge mirror. The time was 2 p.m., 15 minutes.
"Already?" she exclaimed with a gasp, of course, Jenny, you like to sleep until lunch, and then preen up for three hours. "Has this idiot arrived yet?" the girl asked herself with a note of disgust.
Looking out the window of her house, she saw Martin's black car approaching. He must have remembered, apparently, his senility hadn't begun yet.
The girl left her room, went down to the 1st floor and went out onto the porch.
The view was beautiful. There was a wonderful garden near Jenny's house, where white roses grew, a variety of which was personally brought by Jennifer's mother from Holland.
"Mello, Madame Christie." Martin bowed to the girl as she walked impressively to the car.
Glancing at her manager, she extended her hand to him, turning away and wrinkling her nose. This is just an element of etiquette, nothing more. Martin kissed the girl's hand, on the fingers of which was a mother-of-pearl with a gleam of white and pink, a neat manicure. The girl pulled her hand away and got into the car.
"You look great today!" the manager tried to make a compliment.
"I know." Jenny replied indifferently, turning her gaze away from the window.
It was quite bright outside, the birds were singing, the flowers were blooming. Jenny currently lived in a country house located near New York, and the road to the agency building took a little longer than if Jenny lived in an apartment.
The model turned towards Martin. He was not a particularly tall man with black hair, gray streaks flashed here and there, he wore round glasses, and also some kind of suit. He looked very ridiculous, as Jennifer herself thought.
"We arrived, madam." Martin said and got out of the car, walked around her and, like a true gentleman, opened the door for the girl and helped her get up.
The following picture appeared before them: a 4-storey light purple building with large windows.
"Not bad." having assessed the building, the girl concluded. "Even better than many similar buildings."
She'll probably never be happy with anything.
"Martin, follow me!" the girl commanded.
Martin really looked funny next to Mrs. Christie. Jennifer's elegant, feminine and graceful gait made passers-by turn around, while Martin walked unsteadily, trying to keep up with his "madame".
Martin was still able to overtake the girl and held the door for her. She didn't even say "thank you." For what?
The building inside also looked beautiful. Models and designers walked around the floor, carried plastic mannequins as makeup artists ran around. Jenny chuckled, looking at this, what a funny sight.
"Miss Christie?" a girl in a shirt and black trousers, standing behind the reception desk, addressed Jennifer and Martin.
The girl looked at the receptionist. Simple one, what to say.
"Well, yeah, me." the model replied with a haughty look.
"You must be at Mr. Afton's, come on, I'll take you there." with these words, the girl came out from behind the counter and headed for the 2nd floor. Jennifer followed her.
The receptionist looked somehow at home. Wrinkled shirt, oversize trousers, sloppy bun.
Picking up the rabble on the ad, Jenny thought with disgust. "If you work in a modeling agency, then at least look presentable."
"We're here, Mr. Afton is already waiting for you." the girl ran back.
The door was brown, and there was a sign saying "W. Afton."
"Martin, you're waiting for me downstairs." not waiting for an answer, Jenny entered without knocking on the door.
A fairly clean and well-maintained office appeared to her eyes. It contained a pair of mannequins, different from those that were carried around the 1st floor, a desk, a fluffy rug, like Jennifer's in the room, two sofas and a tea table in front of the desk. Everything was done in black and purple style.
"Hello, Mrs. Christie." a man's voice suddenly addressed her.
The girl turned around and was a little surprised. A rather pleasant-looking man of about 35 years old was sitting at the table. Long black hair, braided in a small ponytail, with a purple sheen in the light, silver eyes that Jennifer had never seen before. The man was wearing a purple shirt with a pin with the man's name on it: "William." Blue jeans with a yellow fringe at the bottom. He was wearing an expensive watch with a yellow strap at that time. As well as patent black shoes matching William's hair color.
If it had been worn on any other, then the girl would have said that he looked like a clown, but not in this case. Everything was so combined with each other that no image of any other fashion designer could compare with this. He was simply charming, it was the first time that Jenny fell in love with another person's clothes.
"Yeah, hello." no matter how surprised she was, confidence shouldn't be lost in any case.
"Come in, sit down, would you like some tea?" Mr. Afton kindly suggested, he also seems to be british, oh, how fascinating his voice sounds, just a delight to her ears.
"No, thanks." the girl looked around. The office was, of course, beautiful, but quite ordinary, except for one detail. Mannequins. They looked like real people. They werent just white, but all sorts of different colors. Both dark and beige, even with the effect of vitiligo disease. It's like they're made of real skin.
"So you like them?" the fashion designer suddenly asked.
The girl shuddered:
"Yes, yes… They're very, very beautiful." the girl answered uncertainly, this is the first time it's happening with her.
"I make them myself. Handmade, you can touch them." William said genially with a smile on his face.
The girl got up and walked over to one of the mannequins. She touched it lightly with the pads of her fingers. For real, like a real… Skin.
"I make them out of… Animal's skin. By coloring it in the desired color." why did he stumble on the word "animal's"? Oh, well, okay, it happens.
"It's impressive." she was still running her fingers over the mannequin. "What kind of animals do you use?"
Mr. Afton paused and then grinned hysterically.
"I make them from… Pig's one". his answer sounded as strange and uncertain as possible. As if Jenny had asked something she didn't need to. It's like she's asking too many questions. "Okay, let's move on to the contract." the man changed the topic.
The girl sat down on the sofa while William handed her a contract with a modeling agency. After reading it carefully, the girl picked up a pen and left her neat signature in a beautiful handwriting, and then handed the document back into the hands of the man.
He smiled.
"It's a pleasure doing business with you, I'll see you tomorrow." William said, returning to his desk.
The girl went out the door of the office. Well, tomorrow is her first day working for Mr. William's agency.
***
The dressing room was teeming with stylists, make-up artists and other staff. It was noisy. And Jennifer didn't really like noise, but she sat quiet as she didn't want to spoil her own reputation.
Instead, she sprawled impressively on an armchair while one of the makeup artists weightlessly applied powder to the already delicate skin of the model.
"Miss Christie, do you need anything?" the receptionist, whom Jenny and Martin saw yesterday, turned to the girl behind the chair.
"Yes, coffee." it was normal for her not to say "please", does she even knows about this word existence?
"Mrs. Christie, we're done." spoke the young makeup artist.
She, in turn, began to look at herself in the mirror….Yeah, could have been better. She'd do better one at home.
"It's terrible, but what can we do, you'll learn someday." Jenny criticized, taking her coffee from the receptionist's hands. Probably the makeup artist was hurt by her words.
The girl turned towards the rest of the room. Several of the same girls were sitting and waiting for them to be made up. Makeup artists swirled around them, applying powder, blush, foundation and other cosmetics.
The walls were painted a pleasant white color, wooden tables with lots of cosmetics on them, as well as upholstered chairs, on one of which Jennifer was sitting.
Suddenly, the main fashion designer, namely Afton, entered the room. He looked around the room and when he bumped into Jenny, he smiled.
Without taking his eyes off her, he said:
"The models can meanwhile prepare for the trial show, and I'll have to ask Mrs. Christie to come with me." Mr. Afton announced, nodding his head as if to indicate that she needed to follow him.
When Jennifer entered the office, she saw the same mannequins with different dresses, but one of them caught her eye. It was a beautiful puffy black and white dress… It was covered with artificial black butterflies, complementing the look. On the mannequin's head was a headband with the same medium-sized butterfly. The shoes were high-heeled.
"This is the dress that you'll wear for your first show at our agency." William purred contentedly, looking at his creation. "What do you think?"
The girl came closer. In addition to butterflies, the dress was decorated with thousands of small rhinestones.
"It's wonderful!" the model exclaimed. "you're really a true artist."
William grinned contentedly. He was flattered by Jennifer's attitude, although he's well aware of her character. He knows more about her than she would have guessed.
"How do you like it here?" William asked, sitting down at his desk and lighting a cigarette. "Do you like everything?"
"Well… Its much better here than in other agencies, except that…" Jenny walked over to the mirror in the study. "Though make-up artists should learn more." she tried to say it as politely as possible, but for some reason she wanted to impress William. This was the first time she acted that way, usually Jenny torn up contracts with other agencies with ease, without fear that it would change her life. But then something beckoned to stay here longer.
William looked at the model. He chuckled and said:
"I think I'll agree." he also needed to make a good impression on Jennifer, at least in some ways they are similar. "Is that all?"
No. Noise, annoying staff, disgusting coffee, according to the model's opinion and this is only part of it.
"Yes, everything else is fine." making innocent eyes, the girl said. "Can I go now? I need to get ready."
Letting the smoke out of his mouth, William nodded and the girl headed for the door.
Returning to the studio, she saw defiling girls walking along the catwalk, where the show will soon be held. They did well, of course, but not like Jenny. Its not surprising that she was made the main star at this show.
"Madame Christie!" the main director ran up to the girl. "You're just in time, you're going to be on stage now, go to backstage."
"First, explain they should do." the girl said irritably. "And what about me? Improvisation?"
"Oh, yeah, of course. So, look." the director, whose name is most likely George, began to actively gesticulate with his hands. "You go out in the middle of the stage, scroll through, and then all the model girls come out and together you do the crown pose. Is that clear?"
What an idiotic plan, but there's nothing to do.
The girl went on stage and began to act according to the director's plan with a model gait. All the girl's jaws dropped. Of course, anyone could envy such a figure, gait and grace.
The girl stopped and made a turn at the edge of the podium. Then she turned around and walked towards the other models who had already went out. A wave of the hands and the girls depicted a large crown. It was a pretty spectacular end to the show. Although, its rather strange that Jenny, as the main model of the show, was given very little time.
"Belissimo! Belissimo!" the director standing by the stage clapped. "Girls, you're great, everyone did their best, and you… Mrs. Jenny, especially beautiful." this man also had an accent, but it was Italian. Although, it was already obvious by his mustache that he's not exactly an American.
For the sake of decency, Jenny smiled and went to the dressing room.
***
Pretty boring and terribly long day. Preparing for the show was a tedious task, which didn't bring any pleasure.
After coming home and changing her clothes, Jennifer flopped down on the soft bed. She had a feeling that something bad was going to happen, but what? Nonsense. What could possibly happen in an ordinary modeling agency? Especially when there is such a handsome and kind chief fashion designer.
The girl was lying in her soft lace robe, which clung so pleasantly to her skin. Her bed was large, soft and comfortable. Silk pillows and blankets, there are even bedside curtains to shut out the whole world.
Suddenly, Jennifer's hand came across something fluffy and soft. Picking it up, the girl saw her old bunny Oliver from childhood, which her grandmother gave her. It was a white hare with a red tie. There were patches and scuffs in some places. It was strange that Jenny didn't throw it away, because it was surely worn and battered.
Memories from childhood flashed through her head.
***
October 27, 1985.
A little girl with thick afro-curls quietly entered the room and locked it. She looked to be 11 years old.
She walked lightly to the bed and climbed on it. There were various toys, dolls and much more on the bed, which all the girls dreamed of in childhood. But she picked up a white rabbit. Oliver. Her best friend.
"My parents have left again…" the girl began. "But they promised to play with me…"
Little Jenny always told her best friend everything. She trusted it like no one else.
"But I'm sure they'll come soon, right?" the girl assured herself with a note of sad hope. "Isn't that right, Oliver?… My parents love me, don't they?" tears flowed from her eyes, the little girl's face turned red and she hugged the toy to herself. "They love me! They need me, I'm their daughter!"
***
The girl didn't even notice how teary her eyes were. Did her parents need her? Or were they just buying her off? Yes, she has a luxurious life, but Jenny has never known what true parental love is.
While all the children were playing football with their parents and going on picnics, Jenny was sitting at home at that time and sadly drawing a portrait of her family. She wanted to make sure that her parents loved and cared for her. But instead, they're always at meetings, conferences or whatever.
And only Oliver listened to the girl's tears all these years.
"Okay, I'm crying because of a bullshit." with these words, the girl wiped her tears and put the toy back in its place.
After a while, the girl fell asleep.
***
Days, weeks, and then a month passed. Day turned to night, nothing changed. The day of the show was approaching. Jenny was 100% ready.
And here it is, the long-awaited x-day. Jenny had heard that the entire elite of the modeling business would gather for the show. Someone even said that some of them came only because of Jenny.
And the model itself was already wearing that black and white puffy dress. A headband and black heels complemented the look. It suited the model's face, as if it had been made for her specially. A light make-up to match the color of the dress sparkled on her face.
William walked around the dressing room and checked how the work was going. Of course, it is important for his agency not to screw up and meet the expectations of critics.
The models came out one after another. Cameras clicked and the audience applauded enthusiastically. The journalists were doing some kind of report and were trying to interview William, who was also standing in the hall and watching everything that was happening.
George was running around and saying something to the models who hadn't come out yet. Most likely, he was giving them some advice.
And Jenny was still sitting in the same chair and watching the painting. It's been a month since Jenny got a job at Mr. Afton's modeling agency. And every day she felt more and more uncomfortable around William. If before the silver eyes radiated calmness and kindness, now there is nothing but some kind of intimidation. His character hadn't changed, but his eyes spoke more.
A man's voice pulled out of his thoughts, which most likely belonged to William:
"You ready?" he put his hand on her shoulder, as if feeling her skin, or was it just her imagination? "Now it's your turn, you remember what you have to do?"
Jennifer nodded and headed towards the podium. George was standing very close to them, writing something down in his notebook.
"Madame Christie!" he turned to the girl. "Good luck."
Jenny nodded and went on stage. Hundreds or even thousands of cameras suddenly blinded her, some people clapped. Despite this, the girl didn't even blinked an eye and confidently walked to the middle of the podium. Jennifer's eyes darted. Maybe her parents came after all? The crowd of people was the same and almost merged, but the girl would have recognized her parents out of a thousand. They aren't there, however, it was no longer surprising.
The girl turned around and walked over to the other models who had already run up. They all looked different: orange, blue, light blue, pink dresses perfectly matched the black accessories on the them. Each of them looked beautiful in their own way. But tonight, the star of the night is Jennifer. But she also has every chance to go out today.
A couple of movements and the girls depicted a crown, which, as it turned out, was the symbol of the agency.
Enthusiastic applause, blinding the cameras again. The show was a success.
***
"Mrs. Jennifer, Mrs. Jennifer!" as soon as the girl went backstage, George addressed her. "You have met all our expectations! It was excellent." he spoke enthusiastically, even stammering a little.
"Thank you…" Jenny replied dejectedly, she wanted to rest.
"Mrs. Jennifer, can I talk to you for a second?" Mr. Afton appeared from behind.
Jenny and William moved away from the dressing room.
"Your performance was really amazing, I'm glad that you're working with us." for the first time, a compliment made Jenny blush, although the silver eyes were still frightening, but William's speeches were so pleasant… "How about dinner together?" that's… Is he asking her out on a date?
Jenny had always thought that William was married, as it was rather strange that such a handsome and promising man hadnt yet been taken away.
The girl had no plans for the evening, so:
"Yes, sure." the girl replied with a smile.
"Then you can go home, because I still need to talk to other fashion designers." it's a common thing after screenings at some agency. This was in the girl's favor as she would be able to dress the way she wanted. After all, the dress that William himself sewed was beautiful and elegant, but still belonged to the agency and was a little uncomfortable. "I'll pick you up at 8."
The girl returned to the dressing room to change clothes, and then go home with Martin. Her heart was beating in anticipation. Jenny liked William's attention. Now his eyes radiated not madness, but kindness.
"Martin, follow me!" Jenny called the man over and headed to the car. Martin and Jenny got into it and quickly drove to the girl's house.
And at the same time, a fashion designer was watching the whole picture, smoking next to the agency building. He knew that Jenny was an arrogant and spoiled girl who was easily manipulated, so he bravely took advantage of this without remorse, because beauty requires sacrifices, which William would do without doubt.
***
Jenny got out of the car and slammed the door. The white country house was illuminated by the streetlights and garlands that Jenny had hung on the house to make it look more cozy.
Martin's car drove off and Jenny headed home. Going into her room, the girl again chose what to wear. This is not just an interview, this is a date with Mr. Afton himself. Something about him attracted the girl so much, although she herself didnt realize that she was being controlled like a doll.
"Well, well…" Jenny was looking through the wardrobe, trying to find something that would suit her today. The choice fell on a white and airy dress. It was light, weightless. Jenny also wore lace stockings and small white heels.
It is worth admitting that everything goes for Jenny, even if she'd wear in a cellophane bag, she'll look breathtaking.
It was close to 8 p.m, the time when William would pick up Jennifer.
When the girl was putting on makeup, she heard the sounds of a car approaching. It was William, he stopped near the girl's house and waited for her.
Taking everything she needed, the model ran out of the house.
"Hello, Mr. Afton." the girl curtsied gracefully.
William looked at the girl and smiled.
"You look beautiful." Afton said with a wink. The compliment made her ears and cheeks burn. The girl gets hundreds compliments a day, but none of them caused such strong emotions.
Afton opened the car door and invited the girl. Jenny nodded "thanks" and got into the first seat. Afton walked around the car and got into the driver's seat.
The most amazing thing is that Afton, it turns out, lived very close to Jenny's house. A couple of minutes and they were there.
It was a 2-storey and quite large house. There were children's swings and toys in the yard. After all, he has children. The walls of the house were painted a shade of purple. Guess it's his favourite color.
Afton gently took the girl's arm and they went into the house.
The house looked even better inside. Beautiful, snow-white wallpaper, white wooden floor. The walls were hung with various beautiful sketches as there were also children's drawings.
Afton invited the girl into the kitchen. It was made in a rather fashionable style of that time called Baroque. No wonder, because Mr. Afton is still a fashion designer, after all. Everything was clean and tidy, all the appliances were in their places.
Jennifer sat down at the table and watched Mr. Afton's actions.
"What do you want for dinner tonight? This evening I'm your chef." William asked jokingly and with a touch of coquetry. The girl was embarrassed again.
"Since you are the chef today, I trust you." she put her elbow on the back of the chair.
"Whatever you say, Madame Christie." turning around, his smile changed to an annoyed face. He didn't like his own cheap show, which he himself put on. "Would you like some champagne?"
Jennifer doesn't drink, but since such an occasion…
"Yes, sure!"
Afton went to the refrigerator and took out a bottle of expensive champagne. It finally came in handy.
"I'll pour it." he wouldn't let the girl pour it herself, because he only needs to add a pinch of magic powder to carry out his plan. Opening the lid of the bottle and taking out a glass, he began to slowly fill the glass. After making sure Jennifer wasn't looking, he took a small bag out of his pocket and just wanted to pour it…
"You have children?" the girl suddenly asked, startling William. He turned to her and took a deep breath.
"Oh, yes, i do… Michael, Elizabeth and Evan." Afton exhaled, looking at the portrait that Jenny had apparently noticed.
"And where is your wife?"
You know, sweetie, you're asking too many unnecessary questions that won't help you in any way.
"She left me with 3 kids." William was able to lie by looking into the eyes. Surely he wouldn't say that his wife had died a long time ago? It'll scare our little Jennifer away.
Jennifer began to feel sorry for William in her mind. How can you get away from such a smart, handsome and successful man? Even left him with three kids. She didn't know yet who she considered "kind."
While the girl was thinking, William managed to add the contents of the little bag to her glass. The powder quickly dissolved into the liquid.
The man turned to the girl and gave her the glass. Then he poured himself a drink. Slowly sipping the contents of his glass, he watched the girl. She drank it all quickly.
"It's too strong for champagne." the girl was getting sick.
"When you drink it for the first time, it happens, especially in one gulp." the man assured the girl.
The girl was dizzy and she was slowly losing consciousness. A minute later, she fell asleep.
William grinned at his new victim with his silver eyes.
***
Pain shooting through her whole body. The pain that made her want to scream, but something prevented from doing so. All the muscles were stiff and the girl couldn't move a single limb. Her vision slowly returned. The bright light of the lamp began to fill her eyes, making Jenny squint.
It was cold and only now Jennifer realized that she wasn't only tied up, but also almost naked.
"Are you awake yet?" a familiar voice, of course, it's William.
What the hell is going on here? Where is she? Why is she tied up? Little Jenny tried to say something, but only a mumble came out of her mouth, her mouth was taped.
"Are you trying to say something?" William spoke ironically. "Don't bother yourself, you can't, no one will hear you."
Jenny still didn't understand what was going on, but William, as if reading her mind, answered her question himself.
"You must be thinking what's going on, right? Let me explain."
William walked over to the table and took a syringe, pulling some substance into it.
"You remember the mannequins from my office, so that's it. You will become one of them!" Afton said enthusiastically. "You've always dreamed of beauty and fame, right? Then you must know the phrase: beauty requires sacrifice. I make these sacrifices, making people even more beautiful!"
Has Afton gone crazy? What he's talking about?
The girl remembered those mannequins… For real, are they all made of human skin? The girl had a gagging urge. She started kicking and trying to get out. No, she's too young to die. No, no, no!
William looked at this sight and grinned contentedly. He knew that Jenny couldn't get out, she was doomed.
"Don't worry, I'll make you into something more than just a worthless model." William spoke in a whisper, as if calming the girl. "You can't even imagine how wonderful it is to be a beautiful mannequin that everyone admires." he was a psycho who went mad, but he liked it.
He was sure he was doing people a favour by pulling their skin over a mannequin. He thought they were ungrateful if they kicked and tried to run away.
William slowly walked up to the girl and slapped her in the face to calm her down.
"And you….You're all ungrateful scums who don't understand that I'm doing this for your own sake." William grabbed the girl's hand and inserted a syringe under her skin. The girl tried to pull away, but unsuccessfully, it hurted her even more. But soon it became more difficult to make movements, her eyelids were closing, her breathing slowed down. William injected her with poison to make her agony easier. Although he could have skinned her for profit, he felt sorry for her.
William returned to the table and picked up a small surgical knife. He looked at the girl's lifeless body again. She will make a wonderful mannequin, she'll thank him again.
***
A knock on the door.
"Come in." William said without looking up from his papers.
Men in police uniforms entered the office.
"Hello, Mr. Afton, we have come to you about the case of Jennifer Christie's disappearance, do you know anything?" one of the men asked.
"Jennifer went home after the fashion show, that's it, I never saw her again." pretending that he didn't know anything, William answered the question.
"Did you see anyone suspicious around her?"
William pretended to think. Martin, for sure, he'll be able to divert suspicion from William.
"She left with her manager and as far as I know, she treated him pretty badly, so…." William gave a little hint to the police. Oh, poor Martin, he gave so much nerve to Jenny, and now he's going to jail probably.
"Great, we have a suspect, thank you, Mr. Afton." the men turned around and left.
"Have a nice day." William said goodbye with a smile.
His gaze turned towards the new mannequin with dark skin, dressed in the same black dress with butterflies.
"Guess what, they're looking for you." he turned to the mannequin standing next to William's desk.
Jenny dreamed of being a star. She became one thanks to her parents, who will never see her again, but not all stars are destined to shine forever, right? Jennifer became one of such stars.

See the situation is that my brother is watching the CW Flash show. His only prior knowledge to dc is teen titans go and my inane ramblings abt comics that he ignores most of the time. Because I spend most of my time in the living room I watch the show with him whenever he puts it on. And. Its fun? Its sweet? But ALSO they pull the dumbest shit and as a comic fan it has me horrified. In the season my brother is in we had Jenni Ognats my beloved. EXCEPT they made Jenni Barry's daughter from the future? And named her Nora? BUT it still is definitely Jennifer because she is literally called XS and her hero costume is literally just Jenni's. And because you are one of my bestest friends on this hellsite you get to suffer with this knowledge too.
Expect future updates as my brother goes through the show.
I watched that show religiously when I was younger (only because my mom watched it and I was there enough times that she called me to watch it whenever she was watching it)! It was my first introduction to the Flash in earnest. I did drop it after Iris and Barry got engaged (and my mom lost interest), but I adored it. I know it's horrifically inaccurate now, but they're amazing actors (Grant Gustin loml) and it's an adorable show. (spoiler here) Bart is introduced as their son instead of their grandson later on as well, and it's certainly an Idea

Back home after a fun weekend.
Saturday during the day I visited downtown Chillicothe. That afternoon our clan went out to a country house and wedding venue for my cousin Kate’s daughter’s wedding. (There was some discussion about 2nd cousins, or cousins once removed, etc. I stuck with the bride’s name, Molly). This is my mom’s side of my family.
The property had a horse stable that had been converted into a two bedroom, one bath man cave, complete with a huge bar. I want one for myself now. It would be so cool to park my motorcycle outside my bedroom door. I assume Sheila would get an equal thrill parking her scooter there too. Or we could park them in the second bedroom. Those sliding horse doors are HUGE.
The ceremony was held outside, under bright sun and a perfect 72°F temperature. The bride was beautiful. The groom was handsome. Tissues were necessary.
After a not-too-long ceremony we all moved over to an open sided building for the reception. This is farm country. Many of the men had large, fancy belt buckles, western shirts, cowboy boots, and best of all -- cowboy hats. I loved it. I’ll be on Amazon later tonight.
My branch of the family occupied two large tables. We had a great time together. My uncle Bob and his wife Debbie were there, along with Bob’s son Greg and his wife Melinda. It’s always nice catching up. Not only do Bob and I share a first name, we have a mutual interest in beer.
Because the wedding and reception were outside, a porta potty was the closest place to pee. Melinda, who is a little older than me, literally had never set foot in a porta potty. Not even once, not in her entire life.
There was plenty of drink on hand. Eventually Melinda had to pee. One of my sisters told her to just use the porta potty, because ti was close by. Reluctantly, Melinda agreed. Somebody should have done one of those “first day of school/first time in a porta potty” photos. Had I been right there I would have insisted on it!
As I heard the story, Melinda entered, then exited very quickly. She can retain her claim to having never peed in a porta potty. Not even once, not in her entire life. She found indoor plumbing to complete the task.
The father of the bride, Mike, shares my enjoyment of saving money. Note to self: Sometime ask him about pizza-flavored Goldfish crackers.
Along with some kegs and cans of beer, there were wine bottles everywhere. Rumor had it the wine was sourced from the Aldi region of Chillicothe and was not expensive. My cousin Jenny asked Mike if it was five dollar wine. “Oh goodness no, Jennifer. This is the $3.50 wine!”
Frugal and proud of it!
Jenny told Mike she was going to be sure to drink $10 worth of his wine. I’m not sure if that pleased Mike or made him want to put a donation jar on the table.
This morning a group of us ate breakfast at our hotel then hit the road. My dad and I took a shorter but more scenic route out of Chillicothe to the Interstate. The pretty landscape was covered by farms, horses and some three-person towns. We had to cross a single-lane bridge along the way. There was a lot of driving. I’m tired now, though I had plenty of good conversation with my dad.
Below... cousin, cousin and mother of the bride, cousin, brother, sister, sister, cousin, and me! I have two more cousins, but they couldn’t be there.

Wassap😼 Just wanted to ask what’s your favorite(I yapped quite a lot so you can oppenly yap as much as you like too lol):
- Food - I LOVE ice cream. Like live love laugh ice cream. Especially the one’s that they put in a cone at some cafes. The store bought one’s are alright, but nothing hits more than a fresh cone of ice cream while walking by the beach🔥 I honestly don’t understand people that prefer to eat it from those goofy ahh cups. Like who are you, some 72 year old british woman named Karen?😭
- Animal - umm I love mostly every animal. But dogs are probably my fave. I WOULD like cats more if I wasn’t allergic. Like, I’m used to dogs and was more interested in them as a kid because I just couldn’t interact with cats without getting itchy eyes and uncontrollably sneezing😭 I was like OBSESSED with dogs as a kid. That phase lasted until I was 10-11 years old. But cats are pretty cool too😼
- Colour - oof that must be a tough one. I’m not gonna be edgy and say something like black or white🙄 My fav colour has always been yellow. Although I don’t have that many coloured clothes. My fav fit is all brown😭 But brown IS a shade of yellow so…
- Song/group - ok so I’m really proud that I’ve been getting into lesserafilm because my new friend is also a kpop fan but she prefers gg, specifically lesserafilm, so I’m happy that I finally listened to some of their songs😭 I love “Impurities” and “Guardian” (lesserafilm). My second favourite group is ofc Skz. They made a LOT of 🔥 songs, but “Charmer”, “Domino”, “Surfin’ and “Megaverse” just make my nerves tingle. Enhypen is also one of my favorite groupsss. “Mortal”, “Fate”, “Chaconne”, “One In A Billion”, “Tamed-Dashed” and like a gazillion more😭. As for non-kpop… I really like “Sunflower<Post Malone>”, “Reflections<The Neighborhood>” , “Jenny from the block<Jennifer Lopez>”, most songs from Pastel Ghost’s album “Abyss” and lots of unpopular artists. I can honestly give you my spotify or sum.
Oml I yapped so fucking much😭 Sorry. Feel free to talk even double or triple of that❤️

jennifer's body is a really good movie. i need more shit like this. but IN A MOVIE. not a tv series though, i just dont have the attention span or the time to watch 10 episodes of something. anyway if anyone can help here's the list of things i like from jennifer's body :
- needy's dynamic with jenny. yeah, i like that theyre kind of bad for each other after the botched ritual (they were such good friends before and could have been such a cute couple!) but nevertheless their strong love and attraction is there, to the point that they'd hurt and kill for the other. but ofc this is treated realistically. instead of becoming a power couple duo, they broke each others' heart. call me shitty but i love queer love stories that are just dysfunctional and a mess for reasons they cant or can barely control (also a reason why i like dog day afternoon i guess). it reminds me a lot with my own messy love life. i prefer well written angst and horror than the fluffy fanfics
-the side characters are so funny! the emo kids, needy's boyfriend, even the teacher! theyre all so memorable and wonderful. i might not remember their names but i'll always remember how fun they are
-oh the themes this movie packed. brace yourself this is a LONG wall of text. you can put so much themes in this. its got it all. jennifer's (first) death as a culmination and the logical end point of the sexualization she was put through from the town locals and eventually the band (also given the movie was made in 2009 its also a reference to the huge amount of fucking creeps in the myspace band scene. band vocalists fucking underage groupies were like, a huge thing back then. it was Fucked Up) sacrifice as a literal metaphor for objectification. and jenny's resurrection as an allegory for self destruction after assault. her need to consume boys can be seen as her retraumatizing herself as a form of self harm or becoming hypersexual after the sa trauma. she reminds me a lot of myself. and holy fucking shit was jenny neglected. they didnt spell it out but we can see from subtext and. The way jenny devours the boys needy liked. its giving comphet, jealousy, allegory of sapphic attraction and the way it is tend to be supressed by the person, codependet female friendships, its got it all. and the way jenny is needy's personal monster. pretty sure i've reblog someone who wrote all of that better than me. the setting of small town as an enclosed claustrophobic space where everyone knew each other but also the place where horrifying shit happens right under their noses because people ignore clear signs of abuse/Bad Things Happening? Geez. this is just like when engels talked about the nuclear family and the atomization and alienation or working class 💖 lol its great. amazing how movies can touch on plenty of themes in just a few hours. 13 episodes tv series can Never.
-bisexual protagonist who do crimes. but they suffer a lot. the bad deeds might be cool but its not worth it since everyone that matters to them ended up divorcing/breaking up with them for it. cant get enough of that shit.
-more cannibalism. I Love gore and cannibalism its such a good aesthetic and concept to play with. I also like movies/media where girls are the main characters doing important things.

so I haven’t seen anyone on here unpack the whole Andrea Riseborough oscar controversy yet so fine, I’ll do it myself. bear in mind that I’m not an expert in ANY way this is just what I’ve picked up from a few days of reading so if anyone knows more pls feel free to chime in.
so, the thing about the Academy Award nomination & awards process is that it’s not as simple as the best actress or movie gets the award — it involves campaigning on the part of the studios/actors/etc. that’s just how it is and all of the best actress nominees had campaigns going on. but there was some weird things going on with Riseborough’s campaign (for her starring role in extremely low budget indie To Leslie). for one, how so many famous people seemingly randomly started caping for her, as reported in the Hollywood reporter:
Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, Sarah Paulson and Edward Norton have hosted screenings, with more recent showings booked by Gwyneth Paltrow and Courteney Cox. After Paltrow’s screening, attended by the likes of Demi Moore along with Morris and Riseborough in attendance, the Goop founder called it a “masterpiece of a film” and went so far as to say that the title star should win “every award there is and all the ones that haven’t been invented yet.”
Many more have also posted about it on social media including Aniston (“Beautiful”), Susan Sarandon (“beautiful, lil gem of a film”), Helen Hunt (“If you’re out there voting for performances, don’t do it till you see Andrea Riseborough”), Zooey Deschanel (“amazing movie”), Melanie Lynskey (“even for her this is next level”), Mira Sorvino (“absolutely stunning, wrenching and beautiful”), Constance Zimmer (“you’ll never forget this performance”), Rosie O’Donnell (“devastatingly beautiful film”), Minnie Driver (“run don’t walk”), Alan Cumming (“an insanely raw and beautiful performance”) Daphne Zuniga (“incredible performance”), Tan France, Jenny McCarthy and many more. Frances Fisher, Rosanna Arquette, Debra Winger, Patricia Clarkson and Howard Stern are also part of the chorus of supporters.
even weirder, there were quite a few tweets that used the exact same wording, calling it a “small film with a giant heart”, providing pretty clear evidence that this was all part of a campaign.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, as mentioned, campaigning IS fine and normal. but the fact that this campaign came so suddenly and so quickly in the run up to the nominations (as opposed to others who had been campaigning and had their names in the running for months before) raised a few eyebrows. another thing that raised a few eyebrows was the number of people (mostly famous white woman) who came out of the woodwork gushing about this movie and performance, treating Riseborough as the underdog contender that they just had to vocally support because she would never get as much attention as the others otherwise. (many are calling it a grassroots campaign — which seems like a weird way to refer to a bunch of millionaires deciding to throw their support behind something).
quote from sarah paulson:
Movies like this, made for little money, that are this powerful and true, should be given the same attention and consideration as those that have huge studios and therefore budgets behind them. Anything I could do to help bring eyes to it would mean I was doing something for all of us as actors and moviegoers.
cate blanchett literally used her speech after winning the critic’s choice awards to shout out Riseborough and call her “overlooked”.
And all of that is like… weird, but fine, I guess? Until you consider the fact that this was looking to be a historically diverse batch of nominees. Not only was Michelle Yeoh the first Asian nominees, Viola David and Danielle Deadwyler were both considered by many to be lock-in nominees for their movies The Woman King and Till. The fact that an army of white women came out in their droves to talk about how overlooked low budget indie movies are and to claim that this one specific white actress was the best one ever on the exact year that three women of colour looked like they might be getting nominated looks questionable, at best. Sure, some people did probably just praise the movie because they thought it was good and there was a lot of sudden hype around it. But some of the excess praise seems coupled with the constant framing of Riseborough as the underdog feels suspicious.
and now, the Academy is investigating Riseborough’s campaign because there’s suspicion their laws may have been broken as part of her campaign (which would result in her nom being rescinded). One seemingly obvious case of rules being broken would be Frances Fisher’s instagram post:
Tumblr media
which goes against the rule that you are NOT allowed to mention any competitor while campaigning. if there is evidence that this post was part of Riseborough’s campaign (i.e. that she was in communication with Riseborough or her team about promoting the movie), that could be pretty damming.
but yet she is STILL being treated as the underdog victim in this — despite having a horde of rich and powerful Hollywood connections caping for her. see: comment from christina ricci:
Tumblr media
it remains to be seen what will come of this all, but unfortunately, even if Riseborough’s nomination IS rescinded, it seems that they will not replace her with another nominee and there will instead only be four for that category.

my thoughts/headcanons on Scout’s family- his grandparents (on his ma’s side), Ma, and his brothers (I also hc that he has a bunch of aunts and uncles and even more cousins, his family tree’s almost as big as Engie’s, but I don’t feel like going over all of them jshd)
Grandpa Gerald
grew up a city boy and was a mercenary, a job took him way down south where he met his wife
well educated, surprisingly slow and thoughtful for how fast and busy his birth city was- at least in careful situations. in normal/casual conversation he’s got quick wit and a faster tongue
can be a little harsh if he disapproves of what you’re doing (whether it’s long term or at the moment), but is generally a very sweet and caring man
doesn’t mean he won’t hesitate to kill a bitch- don’t think that retirement made him soft
Mamaw Josephine
southern
everyone calls her Jo, whether it’s Missus Jo or Mamaw Jo or whatever
helped out Gerald with his jobs in whatever way she could
SO loving and sweet 🥺🥺 whenever she visits Scout’s immediate family or they visit her she cooks a giant breakfast and makes them all gifts. she does her best to spend equal amounts of time with all her kids and grandkids
1000% the grandma who pinches your cheeks and tells you how you’re getting so big with the softest most loving look in her eyes and offers a candy to literally everyone she meets
Jennifer
Ma !
most everyone calls her Jenny
sweet and loving, but also very sassy
was never a mercenary herself but can absolutely kill
taught Scout and all his brothers how to defend themselves with their fists and blunt objects
treats all her sons’ friends like kids of her own
remembers the birthday of every. single. person. in her ginormous family and ALWAYS mails at *least* a card, if not a small gift
a lot of her affection towards her kids (and by extension their friends) is typical southern kinds of affection
**for the brothers I’m just gonna give names, listed oldest to youngest:
Johnathan (John), Jackson (Jack), Jason, Jordan, Joshua (Josh), Julian, Joey Andrew (Andrew being a middle name), and ofc Jeremy

LA VIDA LOPEZ
Jennifer Lopez Gives the Lowdown on Marriage, Movies, and Ben’s Big Night Out
On the eve of her wedding, Jennifer Lopez speaks out about her past few tumultuous months–from the recent tabloid furor and the Gigli debacle to romantic infidelity, the beauty business, and, of course, Ben.
By: Aaron Gell
Oct. 1, 2003
Jennifer Lopez would rather not talk about the worldwide code-red state of emergency that is her personal life – the pending nuptials, the estranged former manager, the possibly misbehaving fiancé, et cetera.
Who can blame her?
“It’s our life, its not a television show,” the actress, singer and powerhouse multihyphenate says plaintively, sitting sideways on a creamy leather sofa in a set trailer in Winnipeg, Canada, where she’s filming the romantic comedy Shall We Dance? Her nut-brown skin is flawless as usual, her hair is pulled back, and she’s wearing a pair of grey sweatpants from her clothing line, JLo by Jennifer Lopez, and a white Cosabella T-shit – all to casually devastating effect. (Her engagement ring is, for the moment, stowed in a nearby safe while she works.) “Believe me, I’d like nothing better than to sit here and shoot the s— with you,” she adds, protectively hugging a throw pillow between her knees like a plush teddy bear, “but I also want to live a happy life.”
So, no. As to the particulars of the gown or the ceremony or the centerpieces, she ain’t saying. For that matter, she’s not about to admit whether she and Ben are having a spat, either.
Lopez, who turned 33 in July, ascribes this reticence to the breathless tabloid free-for-all – complete with expert body-language analysis, handy relationship flowcharts and extreme telephoto close-ups of the most famous ring since Frodo’ s – that surrounds the couple’s every move and had, in the weeks preceding our interview, gone thermonuclear. “Literally, there’s someone shooting into my house with cameras,” she says. “I go out, and I’m going to be followed by six cars. All day long. You say to yourself, ‘It will pass. This is not who I really am. ‘But you’ re a person, and it hurts.”
Doing the occasional interview is fine, she says, part of the job. “But if you’re in the paper every damn day, people are like, ‘Who cares?’ And then nobody goes to see your movie!” She’s referring, of course, to the ill-fated Gigli, in which she and Affleck costarred. “It’s like, ‘Why should we? We see her every day,’ and then you’re like, ‘Wait a minute! That’s the only reason I’m doing this!’ “
“So we made a decision,” she continues, shaking her tight ponytail resolutely. “I’m just not going to talk about any personal stuff.”
That’s the plan, anyway. But there’s a problem. Well, two. The first is that Lopez’s personal life has always been so thoroughly intertwined with her work that it would take a team of arthroscopic surgeons to separate the strands.
Take for example, her new fragrance, Still Jennifer Lopez, the forthcoming launch of which is the sole reason her solidly built but affable bodyguard, B.O.B., has allowed a reporter to cross the carpeted threshold of her trailer in the first place. Not only does the perfume share its name with a love song from Lopez’s latest album, This Is Me…Then, but it recalls the chorus of the record’s hit single “Jenny From the Block”: “Don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got/I’m still, I’m still Jenny from the block” In addition to which, the scent’s advertising tag line, “In the eye of the storm, I am still Jennifer Lopez,” is an explicit reference to her rather remarkable poise amid the flurry of activity that – now more than ever – surrounds her. And the bottle’s elaborate packaging, featuring a removable faux-diamond ring perched on its neck, immediately brings to mind the $6.1 million pink bauble, custom-designed by Harry Winston, she received upon her engagement to Affleck. While insisting that the bottle design is not a reference to her own betrothal-“Why didn’t we make it pink, then?” she asks – Lopez concedes that the similarities are striking. “It did kind of occur to us later on,” she says with a laugh.
Such interconnectedness is the essence of Lopezland, a supremely polished multimedia hall of mirrors in which every facet seems to reflect in every other, endlessly amplifying the star’s own light. To wit, her four multiplatinum albums are largely autobiographical, brimming with direct references to her romances with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs (who also produced her debut, On the 6), Cris Judd (who danced in and choreographed her TV concert special, “Let’s Get Loud”) and Affleck (who appears in the video for ”Jenny From the Block” and is the subject of “Dear Ben”). Meanwhile, such films as Selena, The Wedding Planner and Maid in Manhattan have-perhaps unintentionally bathed Lopez’s own oft-repeated biographical story in their fairy-tale Hollywood glow.
The second problem with the newly reticent, self-protective Lopez is that, frankly, it’s not her. She is, by nature, a defiantly unguarded person. As anyone who witnessed the sartorial game of chicken she played with that rainforest-green Versace dress at the 2000 Grammys already knows, circumspection is not really Lopez’s thing. “I push myself to the limits,” she says. “I take risks. I keep myself on edge. That’s just the animal in me.”
So, sashaying right up to the edge of her own vow of silence, Lopez eschews any direct wedding talk – refusing to confirm reports that September 14 is the big day – but seems happy enough to chat about the “major transition” about to take place for her. “I’m really excited about making more time for my personal life, and making decisions that aren’t all about me,” she says. “Just having another person; a family to consider; I am so looking forward to that in my life. I have been for a long time.”
From which one might well surmise that her relationship with Affleck is …fine? “Yes!” she affirms with a warm smile. “This relationship is the best thing in my life.”
The question has taken on some urgency of late, after The National Enquirer revealed that Affleck, who spent the summer filming a movie in Vancouver, had visited a strip club on the very night that the actor and his betrothed were seen gushing about their domestic bliss in a very special “Dateline NBC.” To be sure, ogling go-go dancers is something of a prewedding tradition. But it was the other details reported by the paper – that Ben had cheated on Jen with one (or was it three?) of the strippers, and that said dalliance might have been captured on video – that soon had People and US Weekly musing, in lemon yellow 80-point cover type, IS THE WEDDING STILL ON? and WILL J.LO FORGIVE HIM?
“For me, it wasn’t an issue,” Lopez says impassively of Affleck’s night on the town. “We talk every day. I know what he does, he knows what I do. We don’t have those kind of secrets. What they put in the paper is not what happened, so it doesn’t matter. But watching that get so blown out of proportion, I was like, Wow, so this is where we’re at: You can’t walk into a place and hang out with a couple of friends without it turning into a national scandal. It was ridiculous.”
Lopez adds that she never had the slightest doubt that the reports’ more salacious details were “straight falsehoods, straight lies,” as she puts it. “Because I knew he had gone! And I knew [the story was coming out] beforehand. He’s like, ‘Hey, the Enquirer is doing a story, and I called my lawyer today,’ and I was thinking, Oh, God. I knew it was going to be a big deal in the press, but I didn’t know it was going to be like that, the cover of eight magazines at once. It’s like, This can’t be that interesting. But I guess it was. We sat there and read the articles together and said, ‘This is just insane.’ It sounds ridiculous, if you read it. It sounds so stupid! It’s like, If you’re single and 21, you wouldn’t do things like that. It’s just crazy!”
Male infidelity has been something of a leitmotif in Lopez’s work-beginning with one of her first acting roles, on “Second Chances,” a short-lived TV drama in which she played a bride with cold feet. “I do,” she declares at the altar, waiting just a beat before adding, “have reservations.” As gasps erupt from the pews, she berates the groom: ”You slept with a stripper last night!” Likewise, her characters in both The Wedding Planner and Enough deal with cheating lovers, and any number of her songs explore the subject, most prominently her very first single, “If You Had My Love,” with the fierce declaration, “First of all, I won’t have you cheating on me.”
Despite which, Lopez scoffs at the notion that men are somehow evolutionarily wired for infidelity. “They can be faithful,” she says. “They just have to want to. I don’t think it’s natural for anyone, honestly. But it’s considered more acceptable for men to cheat. It’s like men go, ‘Oh, I can’t be with just one woman…,’ But hey, it’s hard for women too, you know? Hel-lo! It’s hard for us too! Which is why I think we give our men such a hard time. It’s like, Hey, if I can [be faithful], you can do it too. Trust me.”
That said, Lopez, who became engaged to Affleck before her divorce from Judd was final, does not consider fidelity to be the only key to a good relationship. “I think you have to be honest, more than anything,” she says. “Communication, fidelity… it’s all very important, but it depends on what kind of relationship you’re in.” Indeed, Lopez has admitted she suspected P. Diddy of cheating on her when they were together, and that she put up with it. “For a little while, yes, but not in the end,” she points out now, narrowing her eyes.
Which is not to say that there aren’t some fundamental differences between the sexes. “It’s the difference between ‘me’ and ‘we,'” she explains. “Men operate from their own universe, and women are focused on family, keeping it together. Because we’re caretakers by nature – we give birth, we have to take care of that baby – and men don’t have that experience. They have to bring home the bacon, that kind of stuff. Those are different sensibilities.”
In the “Dateline NBC” interview, Lopez set eyeballs a-rolling when she declared adoringly that “Ben wears the pants” in the relationship, but in light of the extraordinary power she exercises over her business affairs, Lopez makes no apologies for seeking a more traditional female role at home. “It’s about being able to feel safe somewhere,” she explains. “That doesn’t mean I’m not a strong, independent woman. But I think when you’ re in a relationship, you have to submit to a certain extent.”
That attitude is a far cry from that of Ricki, the lesbian organized-crime enforcer she played in Gigli, who jousts relentlessly about the relative merits of men and women with another hired gun, played by Affleck – before, inevitably, falling into bed with him. Given the vehement hostility the film aroused, it might not be out of line to attribute some of the response to the sexual insecurity of male movie critics (still the overwhelming majority) unnerved by the sight of a beautiful woman, in the midst of a rather suggestive yoga routine, comparing their anatomy to a “sea slug.”
Indeed, one of the few critics who dared to say anything nice about Gigli was a woman, Variety‘s Amy Dawes, who says her write-up prompted readers to flood her inbox with hate mail and her boss, Peter Bart, to relieve her of her reviewing duties. “I felt like the Dixie Chicks!” Dawes says. “It’s not like the war in Iraq, it’s a movie – but there was the same intolerance of a differing opinion.”
Lopez suspects that the media obsession with her love life had a lot to do with the film’s poor reception, something she’d feared for months. “I kept warning my mom,” she recalls. “I said, ‘Mom, we’re gonna get killed.”‘
Asked how she thought such immortal lines as “It’s turkey time-gobble, gobble” and “My penis sneezes” would go over with audiences, she laughs. “It’s genius! Look, I thought it was risky, but I also felt it was juicy,” she says. “It was tough stuff to work with.” As for playing a lesbian (albeit a wobbly one), Lopez didn’t hesitate. “It didn’t define who she was,” she explains, “so it didn’t bother me. To be honest, if I actually had to do a love scene with a woman I maybe would have thought twice about it, because I’ve never done anything like that, in real life or on film. That would have been a thing like, Am I going to be able to let go that much? But it wasn’t in the script.”
As for the final product, Lopez thinks it still hasn’t gotten a fair shake. “People are saying there was no chemistry,” she says incredulously. “That’s insane! There’s crazy chemistry! Look, I’m tougher on myself than any critic can ever be. The movie had places where it didn’t work, and that’s fine. Review that. But don’t just be an ass to be an ass, you know?
“I really think it will have a resurgence on cable!” she adds. “Now people may look at me and say, ‘She’s totally off her f—ing rocker,’ but hey, that’s my theory.”
There’s little chance the film will do lasting harm to her career, but Lopez has often admitted feeling that her Bentley convertible could suddenly turn back into a pumpkin. “This business breeds that type of sensibility,” she says. “There’s always somebody there to take your place –they tell you that the first time you walk into an audition. You’re only as good as your last this or that, and you have to have something in the can.” She does: Along with Shall We Dance?, which costars Richard Gere, Lopez will appear in Jersey Girl, again with Affleck, and in the forthcoming Lasse Halstrom drama, An Unfinished Life, opposite Robert Redford.
Even so, it’s hardly surprising that Lopez is feeling especially vulnerable these days. In addition to the tabloid rumors and the Gigli mess, she’s in the middle of an acrimonious split from her longtime manager, Benny Medina, whom she says called recently to check in on her. “He said, ‘I just want you to know I’m always your friend and I’m always here for you,'” she says, growing a bit misty. “With all the craziness going on, that really meant something to me. Benny was one of my best friends. Right now the wounds are still fresh-for both of us. It’s a transition period for me and for him to move on to a different section of our lives without the comfort of each other. Business is not easy, but I think it was really important for my own growth to kind of let go of the crutch.”
As it happens, Medina isn’t the only casualty of recent personnel changes in Lopez’s camp. She replaced her publicity firm, Rogers & Cowan, with Dan Klores Communications, a firm known for its crisis-management savvy. And on the agency front, she has raised eyebrows in Hollywood by bouncing from ICM to Endeavor to CM and back to Endeavor in less than a year. “It’s not as complicated as people make it out to be,” she says. “I’ve been doing a little juggling. You have to put the right people in place for your team to feel good. After getting out of that comfort zone I was in for a long time, I have to be a little bit more hands-on about decisions. To be honest, I feel a little orphaned right now, but I think that’s part of growing. The people I’m working with now are really smart and good at what they do.” Even so, when asked if she’s got the mix right, she admits, “It’s too early to tell.”
Despite all the turmoil, Lopez remains a world-class superstar at the top of her game. The well-received This Is Me… Then, has spawned two Top 10 singles. Her first fragrance, Glow by J.Lo, launched last September, is a runaway success. According to Catherine Walsh, vice president of the cosmetics company Lancaster, which markets Glow, the scent is ranked No.1 globally in terms of units sold ”You don’t come across a Jennifer Lopez every day,” Walsh says. Expectations are therefore quite high for Still, which includes notes of sake, Earl Grey tea, honeysuckle and sandalwood. And the fragrances are just the beginning of an ambitious House of J.Lo beauty line, including cosmetics, skin care and hair products. (Not bad for a woman whose fragrance career started at a nondescript shack in a Bronx parking lot – “Like one of those places you see that says FLATS FIXED,” Lopez recalls-where she peddled bootleg versions of Poison and other blockbuster scents of the day.) This fall the company is introducing something called the Glow Kit, a promotional sampler based on the makeup Lopez sports in the scent’s marketing materials. “The idea is to say, ‘You can capture this look,'” Walsh explains. “It’s a way to test the waters.”
Meanwhile, after a shaky start, Lopez’s Sweetface Fashion Co. is beginning to find some traction. The company’s president and CEO, Denise Seegal, describes the line as “sexy, clean, fun, girly clothing,” adding that the recently launched accessories line is doing well and that handbags, intimate apparel, footwear and outerwear are also on the drawing board for 2004. ”Jennifer has been so successful in the past two years, and that has added a positive halo to the total branding,” Seegal notes. “But the product itself, in order to have longevity, has to be the best. Whatever happens regarding a film or a CD, the brand has to stand on its own.”
Lopez agrees. “When you put the name J.Lo on a piece of clothing,” she says, “you have a lot of stuff that comes along with that. That wasn’t my choice. I fight it to this day. Because ultimately, it’s not about my name, it’s about the product.”
Indeed, from her point of view, the whole J.Lo thing has gotten way out of hand. “I was never like, ‘Call me J.Lo!”‘ Lopez insists. “I named the album J.Lo, but now I think I was crazy. When something sticks like that, you really just don’t quite understand it, and you want your name back. You’re like, ‘Please, call me Jennifer. I was fine with that for 20, 30 years.…’ ”
Besides, ”Jennifer” carries none of the baggage associated with “J.Lo,” which brings to mind the whole music-diva persona that has bedeviled Lopez for years. It’s a reputation her friends and colleagues say is unwarranted. “Sure, she likes her diamonds, and there’s that bling-bling side to her,” says Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, who before becoming a partner at Revolution Films was Lopez’s agent at ICM. “But there’s also a side of her that’s very simple and caring and vulnerable.”
“I like dressing up and being glamorous,” Lopez says. “But for somebody like me, who really didn’t have that much, to have things is fun. It’s just really base and simple! I like looking nice. But I think people want to judge a book by its cover, and they just go, ‘Ugh, what a diva. Just look at her!'”
Notes Goldsmith-Thomas: “If being a diva is getting up at five in the morning, going to a movie set, leaving to go work on an album, then going home and doing the whole thing again, then fine. But I’ve never seen anybody work as hard as her. She worked for every opportunity she’s ever had. She wasn’t given anything.”
As a result, Lopez has an unshakable confidence in her own point of view. Goldsmith-Thomas was herself fired by Lopez after one too many disagreements (among other things, she argued strenuously against The Dress). But the two maintained a tight bond; Goldsmith-Thomas, who produced Maid in Manhattan, brought the film to her former client and still gets together with Lopez for the occasional TV night, including a recent “Mary Tyler Moore” marathon. “Jennifer will listen to other opinions,” she says, “but if you try to tell her the rules, she goes the opposite direction.”
As Lopez says matter-of-factly, “I always try to explain to everyone I’m in business with, the usual rules don’t apply to me. I’m just in a different thing, and I have to go with my gut on every specific little issue. I just make my own rules.” For the most part, the approach has worked marvelously. On the refrigerator in her trailer, Lopez has taped up a collection of supportive clippings sent by relatives over the past few difficult months. One, a newspaper horoscope for her sign, Leo, sums things up fairly well: “Your life is about to change for the better,” it reads. “You are now on the throne and will be able to rule all that you survey. Your patience has been tested, but it will be worth it in matters of love and career

Any book recs? Fiction or nonfiction, personal favorites or books you think everyone should read (or both).
Personal favorites!
The Secret of Dragonhome by John Peele is a really awesome story about a young woman trying to play keep away from a draft to war between magical humans. She can talk to animals, and she spends most of the book on the run until she ends up at a castle called Dragonhome which is. Well. On the nose lol
The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle... It's not that long of a book but holy shit this story absolutely destroys me every time. The dialogue is something I can only ever aspire to. The way Beagle describes things is maybe the only thing in the world I've ever been truly envious of.
The Pit Dragon Chronicles by Jane Yolen... The basic premise is a world where breeding dragons to fight each other to the death in pits is a way of life and young boys are expected to try to steal eggs to raise and become trainers/breeders themselves, and our MC actually manages it but his dragon is mute (which would have gotten her culled), and in raising her he learns actually this is terrible we shouldn't be doing this to dragons, and starts the fight to end it.
Any of the Vladimir Taltos series by Steven Brust. Honestly I'm not sure these ones are good, but they're FUNNY. It's all first person, but it's literally first person because Vladimir is sitting in a room telling the author the stories, so all the stories feel like this snarky assassin telling you about his best shenanigans. Perfection. Also he has a pretty dragon named Loiosh who is the love of my life.
The first 2 (3?) books of Barbara Hambly's Winterlands series (Dragonsbane and Dragonshadow at least), before the author went through some things and took the series from high fantasy into dimension traveling sci fi out of nowhere?? Listen it was VERY strange. But it was the first fantasy book I ever read where the main character just was like. Actually kind of normal. Her name was Jennifer and she was a sort of a witch but really just a healer and there wasn't anything all that special about her except that she knew how to poison people and helped her husband (that was another cool thing she starts the series married with kids) poison some dragons, and then like 4 pages into book 1 he poisons Morkeleb, a very acerbic, snarky black dragon, and Jenny saves him and damns him in one go because he has to give her his true name for her to save him and he falls rather hopelessly and tragically in love with her, knowing full well she won't love him and that doesn't stop him from just... loving her. This book was my first taste of a lot of things, I will never forgive it for putting claws so deeply into my heart.
Highly recommend Stardust by Neil Gaiman. LOVELY adventure with a great voice.
The entire Dealing with Dragons series (the enchanted forest Chronicles) by Patricia Wrede is hilarious and SO GOOD. Cimorene was absolutely a character I looked up to so much as a kid. She's a princess, but she doesn't want to marry a price so she just fucking leaves, shows up in the dragons' mountains, and asks if one of them will let her in to cook and clean for them instead, and one of the dragons, Kazul, is just like sure sounds good and they eat an obscene amount of cherries jubilee because that's what cimorene knows how to make, and also Kazul is like best friends with the most wonderful witch, Morwen. Love it. Love everything about this series. They melt wizards temporarily with dish soap. Peak comedy.
There's probably more but I'm falling asleep!

how come you resolutely still use 'yuri' for yuuri and 'yurio' for yuri when the majority of fandom uses the later romanisation? sticking to ur guns is punk rock as hell and i respect that but sometimes when im reading ur fics and 'victor kisses yuri' i get very confused
because it’s the correct spelling and also i am the most pigheaded person i know

Story: All That Glitters (Isn’t Gold)
Face claim: Olivia Holt
Love Interest: Archie Andrews
Summary: Kathryn Keyes loved growing up in Orange County.  She loved the sunshine and the beaches, Disneyland and busy streets, shopping and even school.  She loved that boxing classes, her dojo, and her ballet studio were all within five minutes of each other, with a Starbucks in between.  Really, she loved everything about her perfect glittery life.  But that didn’t stop her parents from moving her all the way across the country to some hick town called Riverdale.  There’s no Disneyland or busy streets, no beaches or shopping, not even a Starbucks.  But there’s a gym and a studio, a forest and a river, so her summer is spent boxing and dancing, running and swimming.  And on July Fourth, she runs into something - a redhead boy who couldn’t be any older than she was, and a woman at least twice their age, and despite what they said, it definitely wasn’t just music lessons.  But still, when the boy offers to walk her home, she says yes; she figures she might as well have one friend at her new school, after all.
But then they hear a gunshot and Kathryn finds herself drawn into the web of lies surrounding that day. She knew that helping to unravel the mystery would reveal some secrets, but she never expected to learn that her perfect glittery life in California wasn’t quite as golden as she thought.

They told her sisters that she was at a private care facility, one that was better equipped to handle her disability than they were.  They would have gotten away with it, if ten years later they hadn’t sent Polly to the Sisters as well.  Now the secret is out, and Betty and Polly will do whatever it takes to get their sister back.
Tumblr media

Summary: If the Keller twins could explain one thing, just one thing, to the people of Riverdale, it would be that they were exhausted.  With their father as Sheriff, it always seemed like they were held to a higher standard than the rest of the town.  Lieutenant of the cheer squad and the best wrestler in his weight class; student body vice president and social coordinator; Model UN Secretary General and Chargé D’Affairs; 4.0 GPAs; and a secret to take to the grave.  And if anyone found out that they heard the gunshot on the fourth of July, it might just be to the grave.

Summary: When Jughead Jones moved to Toledo after his dad’s arrest, he thought that he was finally leaving  Riverdale, and the Serpents, behind him.  But when his mom introduces him to his guide, he knows that’ll be impossible.  Lyra Lovell was a Serpent legacy like he was, and left her mom in Riverdale to move to Toledo with her dad.  Being surrounded by the so-called Toledo Serpents would have been bad enough, but then FP is proven innocent and Gladys sends him straight back to Riverdale. Fully prepared for the worst, he’s pleasantly surprised to find out that Lyra has decided to go home too–if only they can find a way out of their seemingly inevitable destinies.

Tumblr media
Name: Olivia Cooper
Story: Walls Come Tumbling Down
Faceclaim: Lily Collins
Love Interest: Sweet Pea & Fangs Fogarty
Summary:  As much as Olivia Cooper loved her sisters, and she truly did, it often felt like she was living with strangers.  While Betty and Polly were thick as thieves, she never quite fit in.  But she still knew her sisters better than anyone, and she knew that Polly wasn’t sick.  No matter what their parents said, she knew her twin and she knew that something wasn’t quite right.  She just never expected her investigation to bring her face to face with two magnetic Southside Serpents, and she definitely never expected to find herself feeling more at home with them than she ever had with her sisters.  But that won’t stop her from finding out the truth about Polly, no matter how many secrets get revealed along the way.
Tumblr media
Name: Pandora Peabody
Story: The Snake Whisperer
Face claim: Ashley Benson
Love interest: Poly Serpents
Summary: Everyone on the Southside knew Panda Peabody, daughter of the Snake Charmer, Penny Peabody herself.  A king pin in the making, Panda was virtually untouchable, and she had her mom’s talent for business.  But instead of dealing in favours, she deals in secrets.
Everyone on the Northside knows Pandora Patterson, the aloof queen bee herself. Pandora isn’t popular the way that Cheryl Blossom is, through a desperate grasp at the social ladder, but rather because she’s so disinterested.  She walks like she owns the halls, she keeps to herself, and she knows everything about everyone.
While the Serpents knew that their own Snake Whisperer was a student at Riverdale High, dealing in both secrets and drugs, the Bulldogs had no idea that their It Girl was not only a Serpent, but the one most capable of destroying all of them.
Tumblr media
Name: Presley Palmer
Story: Living In The Garden Of Evil
Face claim: Carlson Young
Love Interest: Sweet Pea & Toni Topaz
Summary: Presley Palmer wasn’t just a normal Northsider.  No, she was the peak of the Northside.  Raised by a single father who was as rich as the Blossoms, in a sprawling mansion near Thornhill, and Cheryl Blossom’s best friend and co-captain of the River Vixens, she was the girl that every Northsider wanted to be or to be with.  But, as popular and social as they were, Presley and Cheryl were equally insular.  It was always, only, the two of them; ice and water; Queen Pres and Cherry; Presley and Cheryl.  Two sides of the same coin, they knew everything about each other.
Well, not everything.  Cheryl didn’t know about the snake tattoo that Presley covered up every day; she didn’t know that on the other side of town, Presley Palmer was known as Prissy Peabody, the only daughter of the infamous Snake Charmer; and she most certainly didn’t know that it would be Jughead Jones’ investigation into her brother’s disappearance that would bring those secrets to life.
Tumblr media
Name: Raven Richards
Story: Cruel Summer
Face claim: Emma Mackey
Love Interest: Poly Serpents (not Jughead)
Tumblr media
Name: Rayne Rivers
Story: An Ounce Of Loyalty
Face claim:  Lucy Hale
Love interest: Poly Serpents
Summary: Maybe Rayne Rivers wasn’t the most popular Serpent, or the most feared Serpent, or anything special whatsoever by her gang’s standards, but she was loyal. Loyal enough that FP Jones asked her, personally, to help deal with Jason Blossom’s body. Loyal enough that she did so without question, without complaint. Loyal enough that now that his body has been found, Rayne would sooner die than give her up her gang’s secrets. But in a town like Riverdale, be careful what you wish for.
Tumblr media
Name: Riley Richards
Story: Cruel Summer
Face claim: Kathryn Newton
Love Interest: Jughead Jones & Archie Andrews
Tumblr media
Name: Rose Blossom
Story: A Rose By Any Other Name
Face claim:  Sophie Turner
Love interest: Sweet Pea & Jughead
Summary:  The youngest of the Blossom siblings, Rose had always been the most spoiled. Affectionately, and mockingly, referred to as Princess Blossom, she was everything a Northsider, everything a Blossom should be.  Of course, things started to fall apart when her brother disappeared, but when she joined the River Vixens, things seemed to be getting back on track.  At least they were, until her brother’s body is found with a bullet hole in his head.  Unsure of what to do next, Rose runs.  She runs and runs until she finds herself on the Southside, falling into the arms of a tall, dark, and handsome stranger who goes by Sweet Pea.  And then there’s the question of Jughead Jones, and the magnetic attraction she feels towards him.  The cycle always ends the same way; a Jones and a Blossom, a Serpent and a Blossom, but by god, Rose will make sure that she’s not Riverdale’s next tragic Juliet.
Tumblr media
Name: Rosebud Reynolds
Story: The Price Of Your Greed (Is Your Son And Your Daughter)
Face claim: Halston Sage
Love Interest: Archie Andrews, Toni Topaz, Sweet Pea, endgame FP Jones
Summary: At seventeen years of age, Rosebud Reynolds had… well, she definitely didn’t have it all, but she had what mattered.  She had the Serpent jacket that she’d been wearing for ten years and the nickname she’d had for even longer - and god help anyone who used her real name.  She had fifteen years of ballet lessons under her belt and an upcoming audition for Juilliard.
But everything is on the line when she gets sent to Riverdale High to keep an eye on Jughead Jones.  It would have been fine, if he hadn’t decided to investigate the disappearance of Jason Blossom.
It would have been fine, if she didn’t know the truth about what happened.
It would have been fine, if she hadn’t watched her father shoot him.
His son.
Her brother.
Tumblr media
Name: Ruby Klump
Story: Blood In The Water
Face claim:  Meg Donnelly
Love interest: Fangs Fogarty, eventual Fangs x Sweet Pea
Summary: Ruby Klump had been thirteen when she was first sent to a school for “troubled kids” on the outskirts of Greendale and, despite still living in Riverdale, that had been the beginning of a lifetime of isolation. She barely knew any other teens in Riverdale, not even her older sister’s friends.  Her parents had worked long and hard to keep their problem child away from their perfect Riverdale life, but when Midge is murdered during the school musical, Ruby has to come to the funeral. And once the floodgates are open, there’s no going back.  Finally making friends in her town, Ruby refuses to be hidden away anymore. Especially after she befriends a particularly cute boy in a leather jacket… who just got arrested for her sister’s murder.
Tumblr media
Name: Ryann Hernández-Viamonte
Story: A Real Nightmare
Face claim: Sofia Carson
Love interest: Toni Topaz
Summary: Next to her brother Malachai, Ryann Hernández-Viamonte had always been underestimated, never seen as a real threat by anyone outside of the Ghoulies.  But the Ghoulie Princess knew that, despite everyone’s assumptions, she was one of the most dangerous people in Riverdale.  And after the stunt that Andrews kid pulled at the drag race, Ry found herself spending eight months in Juvie.  Finally, two months after her brother and most of their fellow Ghoulies were released, Ry is back in Riverdale, only to find that everything has gone to shit.  First she finds out that she’s now attending Riverdale High, and then she learns that not only did Malachai make a deal with Penny Peabody, but now they’re also working for Hiram Lodge?  Well, not if she has anything to say about it.
Tumblr media
Name: Samantha Cooper
Story: Glissade
Face claim: Willow Shields
Love Interest: Fangs Fogarty & Sweet Pea
Summary: Skating was, and had always been, Samantha Cooper’s entire life.  But not by choice.  No, as much as she had always loved skating, it was her mother who had forced her to focus her entire life on perfection, on the Olympics.  It was her mother who didn’t let her have friends, or hobbies; who didn’t even want her to go to a proper school.  And Samantha really didn’t mind skating being her priority, but she’d always wanted a real life.  And when Alice pushes too far, when Samantha runs off in the middle of the night, right into the arms of two tall, dark, and handsome boys from the wrong sides of the track, she may finally get her chance.  But everything comes at a price, and Sam is soon going to find out the cost of her choices.
Tumblr media
Name: Santiago Lodge
Story: Untitled
Face claim:  Taylor Zakhar Perez
Tumblr media
Name: Stevie Cooper
Story: Everybody Else’s Girl
Series: (Maybe One Day) She’ll Be Her Own
AO3 | FFNET | WATTPAD
Face claim: Sabrina Carpenter
Love interest: Keegan Rhodes
Summary: The middle Cooper sister, Stevie never really knew or cared about the Riverdale drama or the Cooper drama, because she was “eat, sleep, breathe, gymnastics”. She didn’t even live in Riverdale, she lived just outside of New York City at an elite facility, where top athletes could train with the best of the best, while also attending a school designed to accommodate their training.
She knew that Polly had been dating Jason Blossom, but didn’t really care as long as Polly was happy; she knew that Betty had been in love with their neighbour since she was eight, and that she was spending the summer with some fancy internship, but that was it.
But after a broken wrist takes her out of gymnastics for a while and she has to trade her gymnastics-oriented boarding school for Riverdale High, just in time for the first day of class, she realizes exactly how much shit her little sister is caught up in, at school and at home, and god help anyone who tries to stop her from protecting her.
Tumblr media
Name: Tanya Conway
Story: Yesterday’s Girl (Is Not What You See)
Face claim: Nicola Peltz
Love Interest: Jughead Jones or Poly Serpents
Summary: Identity was fickle, as far as Tanya was concerned. To some she was Tanya Trent, a first generation serpent whose mother was the principal of Southside High, until the Black Hood killed her. To others she was Tanya Svenson, a Southside punk whose father was the janitor at Riverdale High, until he was killed for being the Black Hood. To herself she was Tanya Conway, a teenage girl who knew that the Cooper family had killed her dad’s family; who knew that, even after they divorced, her dad loved her mom; who knew that, no matter what anyone said, her dad wasn’t the Black Hood. And now she’s just Tanya, a scared but stubborn girl with no sense of identity who’s just been sent to Riverdale High with her fellow Serpents, armed with nothing but the snake tattooed on her back and the need to clear her father’s name.
Tumblr media
Name: Victoria Lodge
Story: You Inherit The Sins, You Inherit The Flames
Face claim:  Jenna Ortega
Summary: Victoria Lodge was the black sheep of the Lodge family.  She didn’t care about the constant parties or connections, she didn’t particularly like her dad, she’d never even watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and oh, right, she had no interest in being a mob princess.  Maybe that’s why she’s the only one looking forward to moving to Riverdale–until she realizes she’s walked onto the set of a real life murder mystery, and even her parents are suspects.

The question chapter 1
''I said I didn't need any therapy I'm fine dad!'' Eddie yelled, siting in the chair in the waiting room, tord looked at his son ''its just a just in case eddie'' tord said and sighs ''you've been in a war during the red army area, Edd told me you saw death I'm just Doing this just in case'' tord said and sighs of course, Eddie gave a groan and arms crossed looking away annoyed.
Jennifer was just wrapping up a group session with her weekly patients. As she lead them out she heard talking in the waiting room. After saying goodbye she turns her attention to the two remaining people in the room. "Hello." she greeted. "If you guys were going to the group session, it just ended. "
Tord look at her, ''well I was hoping my son could get a private session if it's okay?'' he asked getting up and held his hand out for her to shake, ''I'm tord tord lanson'' he introduced himself with a chuckle, Eddie rolled his eyes ears back ''eddie....'' he mumbled.
She smiles shakes his hand. "Nice to meet you both, I am Jennifer De Lis, but you guys can call my Jenny for short." she hands him a clipboard with paper and a pen. "sign here and we can start whenever you want."
Eddie looks at the clipboard, before marking down a few things, ears back clearly he didn't want to be here and soon handing the clipboard back, ''could we start now?'' tord asked.
"Yes, of course!" She puts the clipboard on her desk and gestured for them to follow her. "Right this way."
The two did Eddie looked around at the posters, ears back he puts his hood on not and stared at the ground while following.
Jennifer leads them to a room off to the side. "Feel free to make yourselves comfortable" she nods to the chairs and bean bags.
Eddie looked at the bean bag chair and sat down ears back sighing, Tord sat in the chair looking through the books and started to read, Eddie stared at the wall letting his mind drift a little almost falling asleep.
"Okay, before we start the session we should get to know each other better." Jennifer starts. "What's your name?"
Eddie snapped from his thoughts, looking at Jennifer ''eddie'' he replied ''I said it earlier'' he said, maybe it was way to quiet? Ya mumbling his name was probably a bad idea.
“That's a nice name." Jennifer smiles. "You seem like a nice kid, you must have a lot of friends"
Eddie roll his eyes slightly ''no I don't'' his ears were back and he glared a little, why did people expect the world to work like That? Making friends wasn't Easy as people said.
“Not even one?" Jennifer asked. Surely this kid had to have at least one friend or pal that he sometimes hanged with.
Eddie thinks well there was one Kid when he was smaller, ''do.......boyfriends count?'' he asked, this kid was Mac him and Eddie met during when him and Mac were both 8, the two recently started dating he seemed to be Blushing and he looked away.
"Yeah, I mean it's in the name." She joked hoping to lighten the mood a bit. "what's his name?"
Eddie ears went back, thinking of Mac more his tail wagging at the thought of his boyfriend ''m-mac'' He said, clearly from going to annoyed to shy. Tord looked at him
''awww my little demon boy has a crush'' tord said and chuckled and Eddie Glared, ''s-shut up!'' he said to Tord glaring.
Jennifer smiles. "it's nothing to be embarrassed about. Alot of people have crushes" she says. "The heart wants what the heart wants." Eddie rolls his eyes ''can we go on with the season?'' he asked, glaring and crossing his arms.
"Okay. after all this can last however you want it to last," Jennifer says before changing the topic. "So uh any hobbies you like to do in your spare time?"
They all sounded like pretty normal hobbies (except maybe burning down trees but who was she to judge). "You uh...don't mean that literally?" She asks trying to cover up her astonishment.
Eddie shrugs, ''yes I do mean that I think I nearly accidentally burn the house down by accident, due to the fact of how I hate Christmas because let's be fair, Christmas your just letting a dude break in your house'' he simply Explained ears back blinking. Huh. Well, when you put it that way...."fair point." She said. "Do you do anything else?" she asks. " Like hang out with your dad or mom?"
Eddie freezed tord seemed startled by this too, ''I don't have a mom and my dad spent 12 years away from me'' Eddie answered, tord looked gultiy if only he hadn't made that clone maybe his son wouldn't have hated him.
"ah...i am sorry to hear that." Jennifer says frowning. "you don't have to talk about it if it makes you uncomfortable." she reassures him.
Eddie stayed quiet ''whats the point? I'm still gonna be talking about my life'' Eddie simply answer ears back sighing. "you don't have to actually," Jennifer says. "It's your choice if you want to talk about your life or not. People shouldn't force you to talk about it if you don't want to. But sometimes it can make it easier to handle and deal with if you tell someone you trust."
Eddie ears went back, ''......'' it Seems he been silent for a little bit not sure what to say, ears back sighing looking at the floor. "I know that can help from first-hand experience myself." Jennifer gives him a soft smile.
Eddie sighs before replying with a "alright'' He looked up at her, ears up ''what should I start with first?'' he asked not sure where to began.
"So...what DO you want to start?" Jennifer asks back. "This session is all about you. So you can decide."
Eddie started to think, ''my childhood?'' Eddie asked and rubs the back of his neck. Jennifer smiles. "If you want."
Eddie started ''well my childhood was okay I guess? Kinda normalish, my uncles and I got into some crazy adventures'' Eddie said and chuckled a bit, ''and then dad left....then me and my uncles nearly got killed by zombies and eaten, I saw my uncle get hit with a radioactive Lazer, then we almost crashed a spaceship into earth almost killing us then a clone of dad came back and destoryed our house and almost killed uncle Tom but killed one of our neighbors and the red army took over England for a little, then we stopped the clone who almost shot edd which made me stabbed it.......'' Eddie said ears back, staying quiet for a little thinking ''uh I think I explained my preteen years by accident, sorry'' he said ears back gulping, clearly now uncomfortable. Even tord stared looking at him worried eyes widen he was clearly speechless ''uh.....''
"....wow. That's alot to process." Jennifer says breaking out of her shock.
Tord looked at her, ''I........I didn't want him to be like this,........I didn't want this to happen, the clone did experiments on me in a lab I didn't even know what it did''
"I believe you. but this doesn't erase the fact that you son more than likely has PTSD or some sorta trauma." Jennifer says.
Tord looked at her ''ptsd?'' he asked eyes widen worried, ''anything we can do?'' he asked.
"yes, when someone has PTSD the best thing you can do for them is to look after them, don't let them get caught up in anything stressful cause that can lead them into having panic attacks, try to do things that won't remind them of their traumatic experiences, and be patient with them. Sometimes taking medication can help with that too." Jennifer says handing him a list of things she mentioned. "Don't expect him to recover overnight, this stuff takes time."
Tord nodded ''I guess I should quit ''you know what'' tord said aka his army job.
Jennifer nodded. "It would be for the best." She agreed. "Oh and you don't have to worry about me telling anyone." She winks. "Your secret is safe with me"
Tord nodded ''thank you'' he said ''come on eddie'' he said getting up, Walking out Eddie following him Tord would have to tell edd to get rid of a few items from their adventure shelfs or keep them away from Eddie. being some of those would remind Eddie of bad memories.
Eddie was drove home by tord to the apartment, tord got out Eddie followed him, Eddie quickly going upstairs and going into his room. ''edd? We need to talk'' tord said entering in the room, where the kitchen was.
Edd looked up from the BLT he was making. "Oh hey Tord!" He grins when he sees him. "What did you want to talk about?"
Tord took a breath before explaining, ''we need to get rid of Some adventure stuff'' tord said ''eddie has PTSD and the therapist we need to do stuff that won't remind him of those moments and be patient with the boy and maybe get him some medicine'' tord explains, ''im also quitting my job''
"oh my...I 'll let the others know" He gets up and knocks on tom's door. Tom opens the doorwith a tired yawn, ''yes?'' he asked. "hey Tom, remember all our souvenirs from our adventures?" edd said. "We have to get rid of them. Eddie has PTSD and seeing them may trigger a panic attack."
Tom's eyes widen and nods, ''i'll get the trash bag'' he said getting the trash bag.
They begin tossing things in trash bags, while Matt came downstairs. "Hey why are you guys throwing stuff out?" He asks.
Tom looked at him ''eddie has PTSD we are getting rid of this stuff so he wouldn't get panic attacks'' Tom explained "Ah, let me help then." Matt says coming to join them.
Eddie meanwhile was asleep hugging Tommi bear, ears back breathing calmy quite tired from today the boy usually held Tommi bear when he was scared or just needed comfort, he definitely needed comfort.
