The only time I've ever liked Villian!Emmet was in one fic were he was an unintentional villian and everything got out of control. Basically he tried to use a legendary Pokémon, messed up and would mess something else up fixing the original mess up but since it wasn't from his pov we didn't find that out until later. Emmet's a good guy and in all his canon appearances he priorities fun and safety, I don't think he could ever intentionally be evil but he could make a mistake.
Ah, I usually end up dropping the fics where I see Emmet portrayed as a villain because they make me uncomfortable, but that scenario is actually something I wouldn't mind all that much? Like, yeah, it would still be somewhat upsetting but the guy was just trying his best. Still not sure I would be comfortable reading it tho. After all, as Emmet says, safety first! And that includes the content we want or do not want to consume and/or interact with.
I believe Emmet is genuinely nice, even if he can come across as intense and somewhat rude depending on the context (without meaning to, of course!), but even then it's in his own dialogue! He says "everyone smile" which infers the wish to make other people happy, including himself in that everyone, by partaking on his favorite activity ever (pokemon battling), and, again, he also says "safety first". Not very villain like if you ask me.
As a fandom, I think we should probably stop normalizing turning beloved characters evil/villains just for the heck of it, specially if they're neurodivergent coded or outright stated as so. But that's not just a problem in the submas fandom but a general trend, sadly.

"Which one is the bottom?" "But who tops?"
do you remember when derek ran into an active bombing site because hotch was down there and needed help. do you remember when hotch told derek he had and always would trust him with his life. do you remember hotch coming with derek in restorations. leaving the door open in profiler, profiled. derek being the one to hold him after foyet. what about "no thanks, I like my job" "you like him more". how hotch's hallucinated fears culminated in derek dying right in front of him, close enough to feel the blood. or derek saying call hotch--not 911, hotch--when they kidnapped him. or the casual touches. every time they share space they have no real reason to other than because the other is there. remember when derek took on some of the paperwork because he knew what it was like to have a single parent, so hotch wouldn't stress? or when hotch heard derek say he'd lied about a body, he'd needed help, and was instantly ready to go? how over and over they always gravitate back to each other? remember when derek said hotch could sometimes be kind of a drill sergeant, softening it with the qualifiers? when hotch tells derek about haley leaving? when derek says to rossi he's going to do whatever hotch needs him to do because he's lost enough? every single time derek is the one to seriously worry about hotch when he's hurt? do you remember all of that?
to answer the question, i don't know. i don't see why it matters, because i think any of the above tells you infinitely more about them.

Ironically, there needs to be more actually blind Stan Blind Faith content. For some reason it’s so hard to find a single fic of Stan actually just. Not seeing anything. Having to learn to navigate his surroundings with one of the most important organs rendered useless. It would be such a great character arc, for him to start out hating the development, thinking his life is ruined forever, but then as time passes realize that with all his struggle some advantages came as well. He can hear better, he can feel better, the world around him is different now. And as much as he wishes to see it again, he learns to adapt. To live and to thrive and to enjoy life in his own way. I just feel like it’s such a powerful story to tell instead of bringing him back to zero with a prosthetic or, even worse, having his sight just magically come back

watching people slowly minimize karin to a one-dimensional 'angry woman' trope so they can make her tsundere and bitchy for shipping and falling to my knees and crying because she's actually good and interesting in ways outside of this that i'm seeing brought up less and less. like i'm no longer getting the vibe that people collectively think of her as a standalone character as often as they focus on her in supporting or romantic roles to other characters

My general observation as a long-time Star Wars fan is that people whose favorite Star Wars movie is Return of the Jedi tend to rank The Last Jedi as either their least favorite or second-least favorite SW movie. Meanwhile people whose favorite Star Wars property is KOTOR generally liked The Last Jedi and rank it near the top of their tier lists

The whole fun thing about the double standards of sexism is how it really pervades fandom and demonizes both male and female characters really fucking efficiently so everyone's fine until they say or do something that makes them "unforgivably bad" to someone, but you look at characters of the opposite gender who do the same exact things with either the same or less reasons and the same person will be totally fine with them, and also insist they're not being sexist.
#not important#chaotic rants#men are great! until they're dealt a shit hand and cope “wrong” so they get no sympathy#women are great! they're also pure uwu children that need to be coddled#also all their crimes are forgivable and less than a man's (who will be considered largely irredeemable for the same crimes)#unless those crimes are related to a straight romance in which case the woman will be the worst irredeemable bitch in existence#women need to be more like men and men need to be more like women#(this is not about fun gender fuckery unfortunately this is about a trend i've noticed in fandom)#(where either the female character is coddled and reduced to an innocent bean)#(OR she's given lots of scars and is a “cool badass” traditionally masculine character)#(men are also more likely to be forgiven if they're “a twink” or otherwise ~fem enough~)#if you give someone a m/m and f/f ship to judge then#even if those ships are borderline identical the person will say the side they aren't into is “bad” (usually not so politely)#also you're not allowed to give anyone a m/f ship EVER those are INHERENTLY TOXIC AND ABUSIVE#(an actual take i've actually seen people have non-ironically)#people get so fucking needlessly heated about shipping and it's so stupid#(i get heated about shipping but it's about how actual people actually treat each other not about the ships)#(bc i generally just kind of ship everything)#anyways i dont hate any of these character types on their own#what i do hate is peering into the fandom and seeing two or three character types EXCLUSIVELY and also#lots and lots and lots of needless character bashing#or people insisting there's only One True Way to read a character (and usually being radically off from canon)#yes yes that sounds hypocritical but i s2g it's the people with the most incorrect ideas that insist that#anyone who disagrees with them is WRONG and BAD#im personally not gonna get mad at anyone for having a version of a character i dislike (if it REALLY bothers me i'll just avoid it)#what im talking about is the really unexamined behavior where this one character didnt deserve anything they went through#and is totally fine and needs more love and needs to be treated better by the canon#but you're not allowed to talk about this other character who is about the same in terms of crimes n everything but is the opposite gender#THAT character is irredeemable vile trash you're not allowed to talk about them and you're inherently an abuser if you like them#disclaimer; this is not about any one specific person or character this is a behavior i've seen across multiple fandoms

One of my absolute pet peeves in interactive fiction is when the author gives you the option to play as a trans character but then you get to the sex scene and it's... very clearly written with a cis character of the opposite gender in mind.
I'm tired of this shit. It feels incredibly disingenuous and performative. Like the author wants brownie points for being progressive but can't be bothered to actually do the work.
Either write a scene that's gender-neutral enough it won't trigger anyone's dysphoria or make some effort to write a proper trans character, but don't pretend your IF is inclusive when it's clearly not.

So you might've noticed I've been inactive lately. It's not because of art block, I've actually been drawing a lot recently. It's because of Palestine. Because I genuinely fucking despise how little attention has been on Palestine, how Tumblr has just moved on. The genocide is still ongoing, but it feels like Tumblr has just stopped caring. Palestine isn't a fucking trend. Taking a break is different than completely diverting your eyes to return to fucking shitposting.
So, I'm effectively holding my art ransom. If you send me a receipt showing that you donated as little as a dollar to the PCRF, or to CareForGaza, or that you bought an eSim, or that you have donated to help free Palestine in general, I will post one piece of art/sketch I've done. Hell, I will take art requests if you donate five dollars or more.
You wanna see my art again? Donate to Palestine. Or hell, encourage someone else to donate to Palestine if you can't yourself. Time's running out, and Palestine NEEDS support. Pay up, bitches. Free Palestine.

I feel we're at a point where we need to step back and consciously remind ourselves that posting ANYTHING personal online is a risk. It should be a calculated one.
Companies that run major websites HAVE to stay above board with the law, no matter how shit that law is, unless they're small enough to just dissolve and hide and pop up again under a different name later (usually meaning sole proprietorships) or big enough to be granted an unofficial "yeah we'll just look the other way because we want that sweet sweet lobbyist money" exception (in which case it's usually NOT gonna be the shit laws they're breaking). Meaning you should REALLY think twice about posting about anything illegal, and you should NOT be shocked when posts recommending illegal activity get nuked from a semi-major website.
This also means that if you're on a platform that's not DESIGNED for privacy - which, in many cases, includes the implicit purpose of enabling breaking certain laws the platform creators think are stupid, though they can't admit to it (just like how you can sell bongs in states where weed is still illegal but you have to SAY they're "for tobacco use only") - you have to operate under the assumption that ANYTHING you say can be intercepted and monitored. Again - unless the platform is explicitly there for privacy, unless your communication is end-to-end encrypted, unless the cops have reason to understand and believe that the logs don't EXIST, assume ANY platform host will hand over a complete log of everything you've said there and where you said it from to the cops upon request.
In addition, posting publicly about things that are typically protected by certain privacy laws can undermine the protection from those laws. "Reasonable expectation of privacy" is a legal term. You have it with things you say in private in your home. You have it to an extent with quiet conversations you have with a friend at a coffee shop. You DON'T have it with things you scream on a public street - and you DEFINITELY don't have it with things you post online with your legal name and actual human face attached.
I say this, because for the past few years I've noticed a disturbing trend of people assuming this is a uniquely bad EXCEPTION to a general free-for-all, and not...the rule. This is the default! This isn't a uniquely evil thing about Facebook or Twitter or Discord or anywhere else! It's not a "tumblr is secretly betraying us right under our noses" thing! This is just the reality of operating a website under the legal systems that exist! Even if it's a site whose operators' internal values are truly aligned 100% with yours, you STILL have to assume they're going to sing like a canary because, come on, do you really expect them to sacrifice themselves over one (1) user? Maybe a tiny forum of friends would, but no company is going to do that.
And that's not even getting into what happens when it's not a host/operating company or organization, but just some individual asshole other user with an axe to grind.
Tl;dr remember that We Live In A Society, stop expecting people and companies not to cover their asses, be careful about what you share online, and learn to use actual encrypted services. Sure, Facebook and other shitty entities like to pretend the internet is a super cool safe playground where all but doxxing yourself does more good than harm, but they're blatantly fucking lying. Talking about your disabilities is a risk. Talking about being queer is a risk. Talking about anything that might become illegal in your area is a risk. CALCULATE THOSE RISKS BEFORE YOU TAKE THEM instead of doing the shocked Pikachu face when your post of detailed instructions for how to firebomb a police station gets taken down and you get put on a list because you left it perfectly traceable to your real identity.

Whenever I complain about graphic or dark content in media I watch, I keep hearing people retort with this apparently very popular opinion that people who enjoy comfy, wholesome things are actually more likely to be raging assholes than people who love things like death metal and gore. As someone who seems to enjoy comfy, wholesome things yourself and likely met many others who enjoy similar such things, do you agree with this opinion? If so, why do you think this happens?
So I've been sitting on this ask for like a week, not knowing whether or not I wanted to touch it because it kind of feels like being handed a live grenade
For one, I don't like being pigeonholed as someone who just likes "comfy" or "wholesome" things. Yeah, I enjoy My Little Pony and Animal Crossing. I made a game with cute furry characters and lots of bright colors. I also enjoy things like Berserk and Chainsaw Man and Doom and violent crime dramas and punk rock with vulgar lyrics and porn. Variety is the spice of life
Anyway: I generally don't think it's a good idea to make sweeping statements about peoples' moral or intellectual character based on what genres of story they enjoy, regardless of what direction you're coming at it from. But this is a very leading question that kind of skirts around the root problems
There's frequent (perhaps a bit exaggerated) pushback these days against people who prefer their fiction to be a warm blanket, a form of escapism meant to distract you from the real world. In particular, the dreaded "person who only watches kids' cartoons" is a form of this that gets brought up a lot. I don't think the root problem here is what media people enjoy or don't personally enjoy - taste is subjective, and I don't think it's a moral obligation for everyone to have diverse tastes in TV shows - but I do think some folks should try to get out of their comfort zone a bit more. Sometimes stuff that seems like it won't be for you on a surface level will really end up speaking to you, but you won't know until you give it a shot. Trust me, I've been there many times
It becomes a problem when people demand that media ONLY cater to that "warm blanket" attitude. And I think that's part of the reason why that stereotype you mentioned about fans of ""wholesome""" media being assholes exists. People who view dark or violent content as an inherent flaw because it's not what they like. People who yell at creators when they make bad things happen in their stories, because how dare you do this to my comfort characters? People who say movies should never have sex scenes. People who want "problematic" moral complexity stripped out in favor of black and white moral instruction. People who seem to hate any sort of interpersonal conflict in fiction at all
These attitudes can be the result of many different cultural factors, factors that can't all be traced back to Tumblr or what shows you like, but sometimes it's definitely because of that lack of broader perspective on media. You can tell when someone's opinions on The Right And Wrong Ways To Write Fiction were shaped almost entirely by, like, Steven Universe discourse. (Yes, this is a jab at Lily Orchard.) And when these people are very loud about their opinions, well, it becomes a trend people notice
Like. I don't know you. You sent this anonymously. But when you say you "complain about graphic or dark content in media you watch"... that could mean a few wildly different things! Maybe you're just venting about something that unexpectedly triggered you, and that's totally fine. But the wording could also imply that, like, you take issue with these things being present at all, and that you expect a person who likes "death metal and gore" to be more of a "raging asshole" than someone who likes the "wholesome" things you like. So... well, maybe you're more dismissive or judgmental of things outside your comfort zone than you realize?
Unfortunately, in case it's not already obvious, on the internet this shit quickly becomes a proxy battle over dozens of intersecting cultural issues at once where everyone is kinda just talking past each other. So it gets messy
For example, I have no reason to believe that the people who run the "Wholesome Games" showcases have anything against games that are dark or violent or contain adult themes. (They've outright said they don't. Many times!) But when you see people going "why is Spiritfarer allowed in the showcase? That's a game about DEATH and that's NOT WHOLESOME, why would you make me think about death?" or "Ugh, why does Disco Elysium have to be about a cop? Why can't we apply these systems to a game about a young witch who's trying to find a lost cat in an idyllic village instead?" it... Well, it makes me sympathetic towards the indies who don't feel comfortable with the "Wholesome Games" label and consider it limiting. But it also doesn't make me think that devs catering to a demand for more chill, nonviolent video games are categorically facilitating fascist censorship from the Christian right
It's complicated! The written word is imprecise and the internet is a nightmare
I've kind of gone off on multiple tangents here. Basically: I do think that people can kinda turn fans of "comfy" media or "adults who only watch Bluey" into an overblown boogeyman these days. I think people online generally have a habit of swinging too hard in one direction or another in their stances on certain things, overcompensating based on what group of people online are currently annoying them the most and turning said group into like The Main Problem With Society Today. But I also think that boogeyman only exists because of very real examples of people demanding that everything cater to their narrow comfort zone. Go like what you like, but also, y'know. Don't be that person

Astrology Observations
I do birth chart readings for $10!!! Message me for more info
Capricorn placements usually have a timeline for themselves of certain things they want to accomplish by certain ages. I've noticed if they don't reach their goals by a certain age they can be superrr hard on themselves. They are often plagued by thoughts that they aren't doing enough or they're not where they should be in life.
I've noticed that couples whose sun signs are co-rulers of the same planet usually work really well together. For example, aries and scorpio (mars) or sagittarius and pisces (jupiter).
Pisces mercury is a placement that relies on their intuition rather than logic. They somehow just know things but may not be able to express how they know it. These people are extremely creative and are usually talented artistically.
Aries moons are much more emotional than pisces moons. Pisces moons are very go with the flow and allow things to just play out. Whereas aries moons have strong feelings and reactions to everything.
Pisces mars have a difficult time expressing anger but they are very skilled at manipulation. They are pretty passive-aggressive and use manipulation to get people to do what they want. They are usually really sweet people though and they only manipulate when they feel like they have no other options.
I've noticed that virgo placements have a deep love for their pets (more than the average person). Having a pet really brings them comfort and happiness during difficult times. Animals are also very fond of them!
Mercury trine saturn grants someone mental agility. Once this person decides they want to learn or do something they have the willpower and dedication to really see it through. I really see a person with this aspect writing a book because they have the grit to get it done!
This is just my opinion but it's usually not a good idea to date your sister sign. I've seen sister sign couples have very tumultuous relationships that are full of passion but also A LOT of serious fights.
Mercury square mars can come off as aggressive even if that is not their intention. They can also be very impulsive with their words which can lead to misunderstandings in conversations. People with this aspect should slow down and really think before they speak.
Sun trine moon aspect in synastry is very harmonious. The moon person feels like home to the sun person and the feeling is usually mutual! The sun person encourages the dreams and aspirations of the moon person and makes them feel free to be themselves. They both find emotional security and comfort with one another.
Having a stellium in the 1st house or aries gives a person a very bold personality that might intimidate other people. These people are usually very comfortable being themselves and can be trend setters when it comes to fashion.

Tatort Saarbrücken (Spatort) English subtitles - 2024 edition (episodes 1-5)
For all international fans who want to watch Tatort Saabrücken (of annual tumblr trending fame) but don't speak German, fear not:
Send me a DM and I can send you a link for English subs :)
(Please do not send asks as I can't post them publicly and I've had the unfortunate experience of privately posted ones eating links or disappearing into the tumblr void, never to be seen again...)
For return customers: as of today (04 Feb 2024) the newest episode (#5 - Der Fluch des Geldes (FdG)) is now live! The Drive link is still the same and the ReadMe has been updated as well, so check that out for links and guides as always.
And as always: THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL FAN PROJECT THAT I DO AS A HOBBY - PLEASE DO NOT POST THE LINK OR THE FILES PUBLICLY!
More info under the cut
You can pass them along to other people privately (though please also ask them not to post them and to let anyone else they'd like to share them with know as well!), but I really don't want any beef with the channel (which is publicly funded and can afford far fancier lawyers than me, who is none-funded and can afford no lawyers) because these are not official in any capacity nor do I want to leave anyone with the impression that these could be official. They're a simple homemade attempt at letting non-German-speaking fans participate in the epic highs and lows of Spatort because there currently are no official English subtitles. Any mistakes are entirely my own, I don't own any of the copyrights to Tatort or any of their characters or plots, yadda yadda.
That being said, if you notice any typos, translation errors, missing or out of date links or anything else, please do let me know so I can update the files accordingly!
As I've gotten a few messages this year apologizing for being late: if anyone sees this in the future - yes, this is still up to date. You can shoot me a message at any time of the year and I will get back to you as soon as I can (usually within 24-48 h). If you still haven't heard from me after a week (especially if there's still new posts coming in on the blog) feel free to poke me again - I promise I'm not ignoring you, I most likely just haven't seen the notification.
If you want to filter spoilers for the new episode in the meantime, block #spatort spoilers to avoid seeing them on this blog (I generally use this tag for posts related to new episodes in between the official release and uploading the subtitles)
