Oh, I would absolutely not do BSD well either. I just wish Asagiri had stuck to his roots more. He was a great comedy writer, and the beginning of the story was great for it. It's the action and Death Note stuff he can't seem to get mastery of. But for the immortal part: I'm not entirely sold that Fyodor's immortal, yet. It seems like yet another twists that will twist to reveal oh, shocker, he faked his memories to confuse Sigma/the ADA... or something. Could very well be immortal, but not 100% guaranteed.

No problem! #he just wants to kill Fyodor now. problem solved. #how did he use his Ability to get Sigma to France when his Ability only travels 30m at a time? #eh don't worry about it. I made an omake about it so you know I know it's an absolute joke #Nikolai's whole character and Ability practically changed just for convenience... for the story and shock #so as a fan of character-based stories it hurts that sometimes characters just aren't respected at all #with Fyodor I know it's more a case of Asagiri's vision of him seems to have changed as the story progressed #in that realm I'm so happy that BSD is serialised because it means I still have the initial version of Fyodor that I loved with all my hear #when I really can't stand Meursault!Fyodor at all and wish he would just die already so I could be fully free

I also read Church of Marvels by Leslie Parry, which is a historical fiction with one of the most heart breaking trans stories I’ve ever read and Parry somehow also made it a happy ending? This book made me stare at a wall for five real life minutes. It was one of the most well done multi-pov/multi-plot-becomes-one-plot books I’ve ever read. The vibes were incredible, the characters were incredible, and I really don’t know how it doesn’t have more of a following. Idk much about New York, but Parry’s descriptions of 1890s Coney Island and New York made it the absolutely perfect place to set this story.

heheheh i’m SO glad i was able to keep things interesting. i’ve always felt that a story, if done well, can still be impactful even if the audience guesses what’s going to happen. so i don’t mind when ppl correctly guess future plot points, but at the same time it’s neat to pull off a few twists here and there ;3

My outrage is not dependent on surprise, it is dependent on my moral code being violated, which happens often enough that I do not find it surprising, but also, I refuse to be numb to my morals.

Listen I kind of hate adding my voice/opinion to the atrocity that is Velma but as far as I’m concerned the only legitimate “adult Scooby Doo”

(editing this to say that I mean this in the context of like, if we’re not allowed to consider the previous cartoons/Scooby movies “adult” for whatever reason, personally I think the cartoons and the live action movies are equally for adults as much as they are for kids)

worth any merit has always been The Cabin in the Woods.

Which was, for anyone who didn’t know, actually a really cool and interesting plot line about very close and loving college friends (a stereotypical jock who actually is a sociology major, a stereotypical popular girl who is a pre-med student, a nerdy/dorky football player, a super smart pothead with an extendable bong, and a secretly badasss shy girl)

They’re kind of like if all of the Scooby Gang members traits were put into 5 people (except Marty is a one to one for Shaggy tbh)

And they did a really cool thing either the trailer way back when it first came out where they made it seem like just another stereotypical teen slasher flick but then you watch it and realise it’s basically Scooby Doo meets SCP meets The Evil Dead. Sure, there’s still no talking dog, and sure horrible things happen to the characters but tbh they all have a more dignified existence than any of the characters in “Velma” not that that’s saying much tbh

Which is a gif I imagine we will be seeing a lot of once the Velma show gets thrown in the trash or Matthew Lillard decides to use 0.1% of his power against the team behind it.

and earlier in the session Magda was asked if another member of the party was her husband (she said yes) and then when asked if she had any children she responded "no, I am tragically infertile" and speedwalked away
