Yandere ╾ L Lawliet

Because apparently I fell into a yandere stage and this is my tunnel out.

CW typical yandere stuff (stalking, obsession, overprotection, manipulative, worship, dependence, monopoly, killer)

Yandere L is interesting because I think yes, he could absolutely be a yandere

canonically too

BUT only if you defined a yandere by "do they have the traits?" as opposed to "what do they do?"

so first: what KIND of yandere is the detective? top five traits incoming.

STALKER

Let's just get this one out of the way

He obviously to some degree "stalks" people just for his work, through cameras and policemen if not in person

he's a stalker guys. that's it.

so he wouldn't have a problem just turning up wherever someone who interested him was

again

and again

and again...

He's pretty hard not to notice because of his peculiar mannerisms, but he's also literally black and white enough to blend into the background.

So if he was careful (he is) it would take a while before you noticed you were seeing him everywhere you went. And by then you wouldn't be able to think of a time where he wasn't sitting quietly somewhere in the background.

L knows this.

he knows you're going to assume he just happens to live in the same area as you, or something like that.

I don't think he'd actually follow you into your home but he would go when you were out someday to set up cameras

and I think L would genuinely believe himself to be a good person

what if he goes away and you get in trouble? you don't always have a roommate, who would notice? well, now L will, and he is quite able to get you back to safety. but back to the stalkery.

oh man he's gone through your stuff. your closets your phone whatever. he wants to know about you

one day he might just arrange for a little... near accident somewhere you both frequent

and oh my oh gosh oh diddly darn

guess who just happens to be there to save the day

OBSESSIVE

There are two things that L is canonically obsessed with: work and desserts

but if he found a romantic interest that list suddenly has a third item: YOU.

especially if you bake him cakes or help him in cases. because then he ties those things he loves to you.

and I'll just quickly mention these traits are always a little bit in his personality but the order I'm writing in is the order they come out more strongly around you.

Obsession is also tied with stalking.

Some days he watches you and dreams about you smiling at him the way you smile at the rain and the sun and the world.

he imagines how everything will work out. you're a distraction to his work: he would have to find a way to integrate you into his life in a way that allows him to be close to you and not distracted. he imagines he imagines

you'd find a way to fit into him while he was sitting, your body pressed up against his torso, legs pulled up, head on his shoulder.

he could play with your hair with one hand. you could feed him sweets.

L is for the first time not in control of his own thoughts. it's new and unpredictable so it's completely terrifying to him, and for a while he'll slink away into the darkest recesses of society and draw away from you.

but it doesn't stop. it gets worse.

he can't look outside without wondering if you're looking at the same skies. can't eat strawberries without wondering if you like them.

so then he does a full 180 and will devote all of his available attention (some must be spared for work) to you. if you don't already work together or if he hasn't made contact during the stalking at all, this is when he does it.

he reaches out to see if you'll take him.

and when you do (it's not a question of if, see manipulative) he will calm down a fair bit.

but he is still, quietly, obsessed

OVERPROTECTIVE

what can I say?

gosh he just wants to keep you safe.

He's seen every bad thing about the world through his work, he knows bad things constantly happen to good people.

but. not. to. you.

L just won't let it happen. he can and will secret you away in a hotel room. never enough for you to become suspicious, to rattle at doors and windows. And you move with him, every couple of weeks, so it's just an adventure, dear.

also I think he'd use darling in a sweeter sense. dear or maybe doll is his yandere pet name for you.

He probably has several trackers somewhere on you. probably not IN you... probably...

also you know that nail polish they developed that changes colour when it comes into contact with common poisons in drinks? he makes you use stuff like that. for your safety.

hate hate hates that he can't be with you all the time. you tend to find yourself with reasons to stay at home when L's not around. once again see manipulative.

he does trust you, he really does. but he doesn't trust the world. men in particular are often disgusting. it's just true. he's seen it time and time again as a detective. who knows what scary things could be out in the world? and if they knew you were dating, that you had ANY relationship with the world's greatest detective? L's afraid he's putting you in danger. please just humour him and stay home for a week, dear. you can work on your baking.

if you started getting really rebellious, thought you were being chained up, whatever, L would let you go and do whatever you wish. He doesn't want you to feel like that! He loves you! he may or may not have organised for a brush with death for you so that you realise how right he is about the horrors of the world and want to stay home like he asks you so nicely to.

you're just so pure. so innocent.

there, there. he won't let them hurt you.

he'll even close all the blinds so the darkness of the world can't reach in to taint your beauty. isn't he the best?

MANIPULATIVE

IT'S CANON.

I can't think of any particularly specific examples but he lies about everything. Whenever he throws out a number (5%) it means he suspects someone over 90%

so he has no issues bending the truth

sigh if L's manipulative side is triggered it's triggered ALL the way. one one hand he hates doing this to you

but on the other it's for your own good and you're being stupid.

He will do ANYTHING to make you believe him. he will manipulate you into thinking he's being manipulative so he can get upset at your lack of trust in him so he's able to manipulate you

did that make sense...

can cry on demand.

but it's not all about making himself the victim, he will also just.. isolate you if you're starting to drift away from him. Suddenly your friends find other interests, your family are renovating the house or your parents won a radio prize for a vacation.

and L is the only one left. and he himself is distant until you cry and plead and apologise

the isolation thing is actually a yan trait itself and the scenarios above are also kind of training. but they're only a part of the bigger trait.

he will also manipulate situations and other people, not just you.

L just wants what's best for everyone

(coincidentally this always aligns with what is best for L.)

he's so smart though. it's really really difficult to realise he's manipulating you unless he wants you to.

WORSHIP

you're so pretty, the most perfect thing he's ever seen

you're an angel, really.

and people who don't respect you as such are going to get a subtle but clear message from L to STEP AWAY.

cold glares.

he will literally turn his head 180° like an owl to stare at them while he walks you away

they might end up fired. I mean someone who can't see what's right in front of their eyes doesn't deserve whatever job they have...

he just wants to spoil you sometimes and he has the resources to do it and more.

sometimes this gets a little suffocating but it's sweet. mostly.

it's nice to have time with your boyfriend instead of big, grand, empty rooms. L just doesn't have a lot of time. He does his job to protect you, protect you from everything in this world because it is all inferior to you.

I do not like to think about how he would react if you happened to meet Light...

I wasn't sure about whether or not to put this in the top five because I don't think he'd see himself as inferior. his IQ is big. but you could still jump from his ego down to his IQ and fall for hours. he thinks you're more good than he is but he's under no delusions about your relative intelligence or anything.

but yeah, I think he's a worshipper.

Just... a quiet worshipper. all his yan traits are kinda quiet tho haha

L wants to give you the world. he would sacrifice anything for you.

he would take a bullet for you

his work makes this a good possibility. he'd prefer not to get shot but he'd still do it for you.

probably the most harmless of his yandere traits. this one comes out when he decides this is it, you are it, forever.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

really quickly a couple of the other traits L might have and express are:

dependence (mostly for manipulative purposes. he will cry if you ever fight. L is honestly quite dependent on you, he might die without you-- or more likely just force you back into his arms-- but he puts on a lot of an act, a puppet master pulling strings behind the stage. he wants to be seen as vulnerable, not just a stoic and brilliant detective. because which one is it easier to lose your heart to? and you must lose your heart. you stole his first.)

monopoly (when he has time, he needs you to have time for him and only him. he doesn't have a lot of time. will manipulate you into spending time with him but it's more of an occasional pest thing than anything. quite harmless. especially because he works a lot. you have plenty of time without him, which makes him sad, but he can't help it. and you wouldn't love him if he stopped you from seeing your family and friends...)

killer (yeah... not in the top five by any means but if someone tries to hurt you? god forbid, if they SUCCEED? you'll be stuck at home for a couple of weeks while L frets over you. and sometime in that couple of weeks.. well.. maybe that someone who hurt you finds themself in trouble with a gang. L's not doing the dirty work himself but he's behind it and you will never find out. if they only TRIED to hurt you L won't be able to justify killing them to himself, but they'll quickly find themselves in jail.)

YANDERE?

so back to what I mentioned in the first part: L is a yandere, IF you're only basing the classification on the fact that he has these traits and the ability to act on them

but as anyone who's watched police or court drama knows, you need more than means and opportunity:

you need MOTIVE.

this is where I can't base my thoughts on canon so much anymore. the only people who we really see L caring about the death of (spoilers‼️) are: the FBI agents (though not on a personal level); Ukita (pretty sure that's his name); and Watari (though L himself dies too soon after for this last one to be useful)

so. Ukita.

L probably wouldn't care enough for the guy to go yandere for him LMFAO but we do see him refusing to rush in and take action without thinking, something which a yandere might be more inclined to do if they cared about someone.

HOWEVER we also see he's trembling. like he's a little in shock about the death and what it means, but also he wants to do something about it.

a yandere urge, brought out by something bad happening to someone he cares about.

My point being?

L has the traits of a yandere, and has the ability to act on any of them any time. he's smart, he's rich, and he has the trust of the entire world (or respect at least)

but he doesn't act unless triggered.

and ofc because he doesn't have a canonical love interest, we can't prove either way what he would do for/to them.

but I think he is more deredere (love) than yanderu (sick).

anyway, L is smart enough to realise that the yandere doesn't usually win the game of love, and that the things are not things you should be doing for/to someone who trusts you. not things you should be doing to someone you love.

but sometimes, when his emotions are high and so is the danger to you or your relationship,

his control just slips

and you might just find yourself locked in a hotel room while he works on the Kira case.

SO IS HE A YANDERE?

no. I'd say that he's a kuudere.

cold, cynical, sarcastic sense of humour, views feelings as a weakness but DOES have them and will open up over time.

but oh...

wait...

according to the dere wiki...,

"Due to the way a kuudere acts, a yandere can easily pretend to be a kuudere when not acting insane."

...

so, what do we think?

like a box of chocolates!

for L (strawberry chunk white chocolate swirl), Light (orange tang dark cocoa drink), Misa (chocolate mint icecream parfait) and Matsuda (chocolate mousse + full milk cream) I have moved to my main @lawlietscaramels please follow there for new content!

L: strawberry chunk white chocolate swirl

I think L's actually very prone to getting freaked out by jumpscares and unexpected loud noises. For this reason he hates horror movies and thunder. If he happens to experience a fright like this, he'll either go very very still and start trembling, OR he will jump ten feet in the air, drop whatever he's holding, and curse loudly.

I don't think L swears much outside of that, actually.

if you wear glasses he'll just put his hands on your face at any given moment to push them up your nose because the lenses aren't even in front of your eyes any more and what is wrong with you.

he would not kiss you if you have recently eaten something that does not contain heart-attack levels of caffeine and sugar.

yeah he's actually pretty germophobic.. at the same time man will straight up forget to have a shower/shave/brush his teeth.

well actually for that last one he just eats peppermint candy and calls it a day.

When L's handcuffed to Light, they sleep in the same bed. Well, usually L's still working, but he actually does a lot of things in Light's side of the bed. Like eat his food. especially crunchy crumbly food. petty ass.

if you can manage to sit on his lap while he's in his 40% frog pose you can stay there.

you will be used as a stress ball.

feed him sweets. he'll melt once he's distracted from work enough to realise your fingers are pressing the candies into his mouth

what lovely hands you have perhaps you should put them in his mouth

L loves the rain but I think he would prefer experiencing it in a small garden rather than a rooftop. or just in a driveway. the rooftops are just too high. he can see everything and it makes him feel small at a time he wants to feel at one with the whole world.

I'm seriously debating over whether he can square dance you drunk or if he has three left feet because it's one extreme or the other

his wardrobe looks like Homer Simpson's.

sigh. I kind of feel like L is often too busy to shave and usually has some degree of stubble. if you don't like it help him shave please he'll die kiss you

L probably has a lot of burner phones but no matter how you contact him, even in person, you're only allowed to call him L or Lawliet when you are completely completely definitely alone and you'll usually have to whisper. whisper in his ear and lick his neck he will literally shiver

anyway the point I was ACTUALLY going to make is call him lollipop (sweets. and sounds like Lawli-pop)

likes to just stare at you. no emotion in those pretty bottomless grey eyes of his but his internal monologue has suddenly switched to describe everything he likes about you.

big sucker for kisses. no time. :(

Light: orange tang dark cocoa drink

Okay but Light, when he isn't Kira, would actually be the sweetest boyfriend alive. Now yes I know he's portrayed as bored and apathetic but if he fell in love he would fall HARD!! to the centre of the earth!!! in his confession he might even propose getting married and raising 10 kids!!

honestly this kid shuts himself off from other people as much as L does, the only difference is that he's easier to get to. be his friend. ask about him.

sigh he'd buy you flowers.

he's got such a goofy laugh he sounds like a baby hyena or something.

Light is the kind of guy who would have the weirdest dreams. like "my entire class from high school went to a water park and I uncovered a cult that was plotting to kill me and sacrifice me to the teacher and-" if you let him explain in detail it's going on for hours.

every time L eats his food on Light's side of the bed, Light cuts his nails on L's side of the bed. petty ass #2

he would not like an "orange tang dark cocoa drink."

I feel like the best way to meet Light would be through the school's debate team. I started thinking about this when watching the musical (it wasn't a debate team but it WAS a debate)

who is this. he must know immediately. and also you were wrong back there- you hang out in the library? why hello there

his favourite food as a child was dinosaur nuggies. he thought they were made from dinosaur meat.

he still loves dino nuggies

okay as for when Light IS Kira. some of this is for if you have a relationship beforehand, some if you meet after.

you're actually one of the few people, along with Sayu and to some degree his parents, who he REALLY doesn't want to tell in case you hate him. but at the same time would you like to be the first angel of the new world?????

so he tries to figure out what you think of Kira. God or the Devil?

please love him. please don't hate him.

and let's be honest even if you don't think much of yourself you'd be much better help than Misa, who cut her life in half anyway.

I think Light's the kind of guy who, if he did perchance meet you as a detective on the Task Force would condition you to like him with a neat little psychological trick we like to call POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT.

you get something you like every time you see him and soon enough you get excited to see him!

at the same time he's constantly making you question whether Kira SHOULD be caught, all Inception style.

you'll love him. or you'll die. jk! (he's not)

Misa: chocolate mint icecream parfait

when she was little she wore rainbow clothes. real 180 when it turned to black black black.

loooves the beach.

sand! sun! swimming! bikini modelling! seashells! surfboards! sexy men with no shirts on! LIGHT WITH NO SHIRT ON!!!!

Misa has a really large collection of earrings of all types. kittens, the solar system, swords.

If you're friends with her she'll eventually pull you along to a modelling gig. No matter how much you protest, it will eventually happen. You'll just be there. Just pray Misa didn't forget to check the schedule and today is lingerie day.

she has 4000 photos on her phone, 3500 of which are selfies and 1750 of which have you in them.

her favourite Pokémon is Stufful!

Misa loves making origami and had a couple hundred paper cranes hanging from the roof of her bedroom when she lived with her parents.

This girl's FAVOURITE thing to do is hold hands. She would never let go if possible. Paint her fingernails and do her makeup, she'd be utterly devoted to you forever and ever. She'll do the same for you if you want.

Has a great singing voice!

Loves flowers. she reminds me of sunflowers in particular. give her bouquets. she'll put them everywhere and watch them slowly die with a smile.

Out of all food "types" I think Misa would like pastries and bakery food the most.

Her favourite letter used to be "L" but then she met L and it immediately became "H". "L" is now number 26 on the list.

Misa has the biggest collection of unused stickers and stamps to ever exist. She thinks they're really pretty.

if you're dating her or even someone else, DOUBLE DATES. anywhere and everywhere. parks. movies. restaurants. she will show up in your bedroom at night.

dressed up as the grim reaper for the past 5 Halloweens straight. only ate candy in pink wrapping.

she's a little like a cat in that she's prone to just knock coffee over paperwork or press her hands all over your keyboard. but, like a cat, she's too adorable to be angry at.

pick her up. spin her around. kiss her.

Matsuda: chocolate mousse + full milk cream

got really excited when Misa started talking about Pokémon but realised she just liked them because they're cute.. sob! he just wants someone to play Pokémon Go! with him!!!!

a very good chef. more actual meals than pastries etc though.

ughhhh his chicken parmigiana tastes like HEAVEN. the salad on the side is LIQUID GOLD.

just a silly little man who takes four tries to tie his tie properly every morning.

he can walk on his hands *bites lip sexily and accidentally breaks the skin, gets an infection and goes to hospital*

sigh he's so pathetic I love him

but goddamn. you guys remember that episode Matsuda overheard the Yotsuba meeting?? When he got his colour like L and Light AND HIS EXPRESSION???

sometimes he has unintentional moments like that, so serious and cool.

If you were dating him during the Kira case he'd ask L to help him erase every single record of your name to protect you. if L didn't agree the first time he'd make sweets with you to give to him. Matsuda is as cunning as anyone when he needs to be, though he hates doing it and can usually get along with puppy eyes.

"you really don't have to do that" when you tell him you love him or kiss him or just smile at him. he's too nice for his own good.

please coach him out of people pleasing.

I think he'd be really into camping actually!! can you imagine him in a silly little hat sitting around a campfire and toasting s'mores and damper?

His ENTIRE face lights up when he sees you. He thinks he's slick about hiding his crush from you but he really isn't.

he would just die if you had time to cuddle and watch a movie together one night. little kissies and calling him cute and really in general not watching the movie, just cuddling

He'd be the best friend EVER. super supportive and funny and generally just great. he'd make you soup if you got sick. he would hold your hair out of your face when you threw up. and then he would probably have to throw up too.

uhh Matsuda only drives Mazdas. he thinks it's funny (the name of the car came from the surname Matsuda). I think he'd like blue cars.

he likes to decorate the Task Force for the holidays to bring cheer and raise morale. he's the one reason nobody's gone insane yet (except Light but that couldn't be helped)

February 2 - L Lawliet - Sweets

Warnings: None, slight angst to fluff

Reader gender not specified

L had been overworking himself again. He had been wrapped up trying to figure out the Kira case for days, barely taking any breaks. You do realize that Kira is dangerous, and that he very much so needs to be put behind bars. However, L needed to take care of himself as well.

Now usually that’s where you come in, as his s/o, you’ve taken it upon yourself to make sure he gets enough food, water, and rest as a normal human being should, well as close as you could get anyways. Except this time, he was so deeply immersed in this case he’d snap at anyone who tried to intervene.

At first you thought you’d maybe done something to bother him, so you sent Watari in for you. Unfortunately he came out with the same result as you had gotten for the past few days.

Growing tired of his snappish ‘later’s and responses you opted to try one last time.

“L? Honey? Maybe it’s time to take a break and get some sleep? It’s 11pm.” You hoped the answer would be different this time.

“Can’t you see I’m doing something important here Y/n?” The annoyance evident in his voice.

Taken aback by this new, albeit slightly more painful response, you’d decided. Fine. If that’s how he wants to be, that’s how it’s going to be.

Over the next day you had slowly taken away all his sweets and moved them to the bedroom, stopping Watashi from bringing him any replacements.

“Y/n!” L’s loud call rang through the halls from the living room.

Quickly making my way over to the chair L was curled up in, you barely had time to open your mouth to respond to him, he cut you off with his demands.

“Give me my sweets back!”

“You’ll have to catch me first!” Smirk on your face, you booked it down the hallway with L close behind you.

Making a sharp turn you quickly hid behind the bedroom door, L had yet to stop himself and went crashing into the the bed.

Flying tackling him, you yelled, “Watshi! Now!”

Watashi quickly locked the door from the outside, making sure L couldn’t leave to get back to his work.

“Y/n what are you doing? Stop that. I have to get back to -umph” You effectively cut off his sentence by shoving a piece of strawberry cake into his mouth.

You kept shoving sweets into his mouth every time he tried to protest about being trapped in the bedroom. At some point he stopped arguing and just opened his mouth for bites so you could feed him.

“I’m sorry” L almost whispered.

“For what love?”

“For being so mean to you, Kira just gets on my nerves” He said it so softly, and the moment you looked into his wide eyes, how could you not forgive him?

“It’s okay sweetie, let’s just rest now, okay?”

“Okay” he agreed.

You rolled off of him, to lay down next to him, lowering your guard. That was a bad idea. The moment you relaxed, Lawliet had scooped some frosting onto his finger and spread it across your cheek. Letting out a sharp gasp at the unexpected frosting assailant, you quickly grabbed a nearby cupcake and smashed it against your sneaky boyfriend’s face.

“FOOD FIGHT!” You yelled, quickly rolling away from him and grabbing a pillow as your defense.

Needless to say, you spent the rest of the day having fun with L and getting him to relax. You both may be covered in sugary delights, but spending time with him, the love of your life, was oh so sweet.

(since my inbox has been dry,here’s some of my fav characters dealing with affection- half of em are from animes but still i’m just bored,,)

( Near / Nate River. )

near is a quiet person who keeps to himself. when it comes to affection he’d be hesitant but would learn to enjoy it overtime.

his favorite form of affection is forehead kisses or cuddling. he enjoys it whenever you come to check on him you always give him a kiss on the forehead with a soft ‘i love you’ or if he’s clearly overworking himself that you lift him up and make him cuddle up with you in hopes that he takes a nap.

he’d try to give this attention back to you in the form of hand kisses or simply holding your hand. he isn’t the best with giving it back but does enjoy when you two sit down and perhaps play with the toys he has scattered around.

he also has an attachment to small words like ‘i love you’ or you calling him ‘dear’ , ‘honey’ or ‘honeypie’.

he never really uses nicknames for you but sometimes calls you ‘love’ or a nickname you normally go by or a shortened version of your name.

overall,11/10 on the affection toleration scale-

l is the same as near with affection,he’d be very hesitant at first but enjoys it more and more into the relationship and will eventually start to show you affection also in small words or by linking pinkies with you at random times of the day when he isn’t busy.

he isn’t picky with affection but his favorite form is gentle kisses or sharing sweets. he’d sometimes feed you shortcake or let you feed him some,or any sort of sweet for that matter. you’re really the only person he shares sweets with.

he’s also probably very understanding when it comes to giving affection back and your boundaries before you even say them. his form besides sharing sweets and gentle kisses as well as..working on cases with you.

he isn’t one for nicknames besides ‘sweets’ or ‘my love’,but he really loves when you call him little nicknames such as ‘honey’ , ‘sweetie’ ya know..the cheesy stuff! they make him red in the cheeks if you call him those nicknames suddenly.

you’d have to pull him away from cases to spend time with him but really he’s trying his best. he does enjoy being able to cuddle up with you and watch tv while sharing strawberries and chocolate candies.

i’d rate him about 10/10 on the dealing with affection scale!

getting affection from his s/o boosts his ego..a lot. shows that you care for him and just aren’t using him for any dumb reasons. he’d be a bit iffy about affection at the start of the relationship but eventually does small acts of affection without even thinking about it.

his form of affection is small kisses on the lips or having you by his side at all times with a arm around your waist. he does like to show you off but won’t go too far without giving consent with it. (also another small one is him sharing his chocolate bars with you,you get privileges-)

mello enjoys when you play with his hair when you two cuddle or move his hair away from his forehead to give him a small peck on the forehead. he’d deny that he likes it but honestly,he does. he hates to admit he likes being babied at times.

nicknames are big for mello. he likes to call you ‘babe , ‘honey’ , ‘baby’ ya know,cheesy stuff- but sometimes he likes to call you by a shortened version of your name. he has no preference of what you call him but does like ‘ mel ‘ , ‘hun’ , ‘sugar’ just..soft things-

the way he spends time with you is cuddling and watching random shows or motorcycle rides. it’s somewhat rare he spends so long with you but he tries his best to show that he truly loves you.

Izuru just..wouldn’t care. he’s calm and collected about it,accepting any affection he’s given and sometimes giving a very small reaction if it’s a sudden kiss.

his form of affection is complicated,sometimes it’s simple hand holding but sometimes it can be kissing or letting you play with his silky hair or braid it. he’s not used to affection but couldn’t care less..yes he understands its how couples show they love each other but knows you already love him enough,so does he. you aren’t boring to him after all.

he won’t admit it but he really enjoys your kisses. they’re comforting to him and bring him peace in a sense especially if you two are cuddling at the time. he feels..emotion for once.

never uses nicknames,well..if a shortened version of your name counts. he does allow you to call him any sort of nickname and he’ll answer to them since he already knows you’d use them eventually.

he doesn’t do much after what he had done with junko,so he’d always go to you to find something to do even if it’s..dumb in his opinion. he enjoys cuddling and you playing with his hair,twirling the strands as he closes his eyes. he’d even keep the braid if you braid it.

ed loves affection!! as soon as the relationship starts they’re going to be all up on you and smothering you in kisses and cuddles. but they do understand if you want to take it slow and will just smile and nod “edward understands,ed will wait!”

edwards form of affection is kisses,cuddling,hugs and if they’re a tad calm its hand holding. sometimes they’d just straight up tackle you down in a hug as they giggle,nuzzling at your face. if everyone else is around the ship they’d just settle with having their arms around you waist with their chin rested on your shoulder.

their big way of affection is cuddling as i said before but does enjoy when you play with their fluffy hair. they..purr? it’s a strange sound but it shows they enjoy it!

A Typical Date

L Lawliet (Ryuzaki)

Usually, it is going out to go to the sweet shop. It makes sense because this is where you get majority of his sweets from. When L wants to take a break from the Kira case, he wants to go this lovely place.

In fact, the two of you usually share a strawberry sundae with chocolate syrup. Yummy! You two also pick out sweets for later when you two are watching movies or just cuddling together. Of course, there will be tons of kissing from the sweetness.

Occasionally, the two of you would go to the tennis court to play some tennis. You seem to be able to handle your own considering how great L is at tennis. He was a tennis champion at one point. Either way, the two of you have fun & still be able to kiss later.

Sebastian Michaelis (Modern Day)

It is as simple as it gets. The two of you go to very interesting places. It could be an old library, any museum in London, or going to any play/musical/Shakespeare play. Even going to the opera can be very enjoyable. It seems to that the both of you enjoy the fine arts.

When you guys go to dinner afterwards, you guys discuss what you have read or seen. It is quite a rather deep conversation between the two of you. Since Sebastian has been living for quite some time, you learn more from him than what you see or hear.

Of course, there will be gazes between the two of you. After the meal is paid, you two walk to your flat and Sebastian stays the night. You two are holding hands with a kiss planted on your lips. For some reason, you knew that Sebastian is special to you in ways that you always crave.

Kyoya Ootori

In all honesty, he prefers his dates to be rather simple. Since Kyoya spends so much money on the Host Club, he would rather us his family resources. So it is usually at his family’s water park or his family’s private beach, where the two of you spend time alone. Plus, you get to wear your cute swimsuit!

Occasionally, you chip in for a date. You love to go explore Tokyo by going to shrines or to go to Mt. Fuji to see the beautiful sights. It is one of the ways that Kyoya can get out of his comfort zone. You enjoy seeing Kyoya sweating and it makes the date more humorous.

At the end of the day, you two enjoy a perfect dinner at one of his or your favorite restaurants. Kyoya would have his black book, but you make him not to write in it. Of course, he wouldn’t like it but he will do anything for you. He will hold your hand in public. After all, he is a closed book.

Makoto Tachibana

About 90% of the time, it is usually running errands in town. When you get your errands done, Makoto walks around the store to find your favorite candy. When you check out, he comes back and surprises you with the candy. What can be sweeter than getting candy from your favorite sweet?

You two also take cute selfies together while going around town. You two walking with your hands together seems like a cute idea when you post it on Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat. Of course selfies and social media is nothing compared to real life. So, the two of you just love each other. Playing video games after a day in town is a great way to wind down.

Occasionally, you two go out to dinner because college students are broke. It is usually at a fast food place, but you don’t care about that. You are with your favorite person and you love how he cares for you. When you are with Makoto, it is always a good time.

Tamaki Suoh

Since Tamaki loves commoner’s coffee, he wants to go to his favorite coffee place. It is a local place. You get your usual coffee while Tamaki gets his coffee and something else to go with his coffee. You two talk and giggle about the simple things. He will pay for everything because that is what gentleman does and you love that about him.

Later, the two of you go to Akihabara aka Anime Central! He will spoil you by buying everything you want. He will buy the latest Black Butler merch for the new movie coming out (Book of Atlantic). He will also buy you new manga to feed your new obsession; Fullmetal Alchemist.

At the end of the night, the two of you go to his mansion. You two will cuddle and will watch a Disney movie marathon. You two watch Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and Wreck-It Ralph pretty much all of the time. Of course, there will be dancing when Tamaki wants to dance with you.

Levi Ackerman (Modern Day)

About 99% of the time, you and Levi love to lie around at his apartment and do absolutely nothing. You order takeout food and drink a lot of soda. Watching Netflix and hoping to chill, but usually Levi falls asleep from a long day at work. You mess with his hair when he is asleep. It’s adorable.

It is a very rare occasion to go outside for an actually date. You two would either go to a sporting event, a movie, or even to a museum. He loves to learn more about things because you love to learn new things too. He usually is not a romantic in public, but he will put his hand around your waist and kiss your forehead.

A nice romantic dinner is usually where Levi pulls out all of his stops. He will bring your red roses with a cute little note and a huge box of chocolates. In the long run, he knows the way to your heart. After dinner, you two will cuddle and share the chocolate he gave you. A make-out session is usually in order.

Uta

When you are on a date with Uta, it is usually for his job. He goes to the craft stores to pick up new material for masks, but you make it more interesting. You also buy new material to make a cute little heart so Uta can hold on. Of course, you are making it as a surprise.

For some reason, Uta loves to sneak up on you. You would jump and he would catch you. Of course, he will wrap his arms around your waist and kiss your neck. When you made your final decision, you have to wait on Uta. He takes longer than you obviously.

After the errand run, the two of you go see the whole ghoul clan at Anteiku for some delicious coffee. You smile at the warmth of great coffee. Then you felt Uta’s hand on yours. You blush and he also blushes when he does something very cute. After all, who says ghouls can’t be cute?

Shuu Tsukiyama

You two dress up for your dates, but for a different reason. You two go to fashion shows around the world. The two of you love to go because it helps you inspire to be a better fashion designer. It also helps Tsukiyama because he can learn on how to accentuate his model features.

Tsukiyama gets to show you off as his favorite fashionista. You wear designer dresses because he requested these dresses to fit your personality. Every time that happens, his entire look matches your gorgeous dress. Of course, your shoes, jewelry, and make-up is always flawless.

On a few occasions, there will be fashion shows where Tsukiyama is actually a model. It makes you so proud of him. No matter what he wears, he always looks amazing. Even when he does underwear modeling. Of course you are going to whistle when your man is on the catwalk.

Armin Arlert (Modern Day)

You dress up in a cute outfit for your date. It is usually a picnic in the park or to an amusement park. You love to ride on roller coasters and you love the thrill of it. Armin is not so crazy about roller coasters. So he holds on to you when he rides with you. You don’t mind catching him at all.

You two would also go to local festivals to try various foods from the various parts of the world. You two would also play carnival games at these festivals. You try to win, but you lose. You couldn’t get the prize, but Armin won the prize for you. You smile when he wins. You kiss him on the cheek for winning.

At the end of the night, you two would take a romantic stroll through either a park or a walk on the beach. The two of you hold hands and Armin will stare at you. You smile and blush at the same time. He will tell you a very cute romantic story about a prince and a princess. Of course, you two will kiss on the lips and carried you bridal style to your place.

a/n: for the past four days i’ve only been thinking about soft!l lawliet and how much i want to lay in his lap someone pls pay my bail from simp jail also! ayy first one shot ig??

Today will be one of the few times you two have gone out together since L is meticulous about keeping his identity private, and you’re grateful for the change of scenery. Instead of being cooped up in his hotel of the week, you’re out wandering a botanical garden in Tokyo. Of course, Watari made all the arrangements for the park to be conveniently closed to the public that day, but still, it’s the thought that counts.

In your left hand is a wicker basket filled with food, and your right pinky looped around L’s left pinky. As you walk through the garden, the fresh smell of flowers fills your noses and the sunshine filters through the cumulus clouds, causing droplets of sweat to collect on your back.

With anyone else, such extended periods of silence would be uncomfortable, but with L, it feels like home.

You feel a tug of resistance on your pinky and turn back to see L engrossed in a flowering tree. “What’s that?” You join him in inspecting the tree, clutching his dangling arm tight to yours and resting your head on his hunched shoulders.

“It’s a Magnolia Stellata, or Star Magnolia. I’m surprised they’re still in bloom right now.” L makes no effort to explain himself, instead opting to put a finger to his lip.

“Because…?” With your head still on his shoulder, you look up at him expectantly. He often makes statements like that without explaining himself since he assumes that everyone else knows what he’s talking about. It used to bother you when you first met, but you’ve learned that it’s just because his mind is moving a hundred miles a minute. Now, you just ask him to elaborate, and it surprisingly doesn’t bother him. When other people ask him questions that he thinks are blatantly obvious, he grows annoyed but masks it in his voice by scrunching the toes of his left foot. But with you, he never does that. Instead, he’s patient and kind. You can see it in his eyes.

“Because they are particularly susceptible to frost damage and we had a handful of very cold days this March,” he answers coolly. Where he stores this knowledge about flowers native to Tokyo despite him being from England, you will never know, but you’re thankful for the information regardless.

“Oh, I see. Thank you," you sigh. Together, you stand marveling at the light pink flowers and feeling the breeze on your backs, which causes L’s hair to sweep over your face. He quickly brushes it away for you with his free hand.

“And don’t worry, y/n, it’s not wilting; the petals are just wavy like that.” He gently tugs his arm away from you to signal that he’d like to move on, and once you release him, he takes your hand in his and leads you through the garden.

It has taken L a while to become comfortable with you enough to initiate contact first, but you’re glad that he can now. When you first began dating, things were uncomfortably stiff. You have the habit of word vomiting any time there’s too long of a pause, and L has a habit of withdrawing into his thoughts, so the first few months of dating was just a lot of you oversharing and him just listening.

You didn’t actually think he was paying attention until one day you mentioned how as a child you carried around a stuffed animal, which you affectionately named Ollie the Otter, and lost it on holiday in the US with your family. Within just three days, he bought you the exact same version of your beloved childhood stuffie. You had long since grown out of your stuffed animal phase but were touched nonetheless that he put in the effort to find you the toy, proving that he cares about you in his own way.

Ollie Jr. now sits on L's bed, always tucked under his comforter as if it’s sleeping. Sometimes, though, when L is up late at night doing work, he will wedge the otter between his knees that are pulled up to his chest and rest his chin on it so that he can smell the traces of your perfume on it. He would never admit to it, but you’ve silently watched him work many times before to know that it wasn’t just a one-time occasion.

“Would you like to stop here, y/n?” L gestures to a patch of manicured grass under the shade of a cherry blossom tree.

“Sure. Will you help me lay out the blanket?” You untangle your fingers from him to open the picnic basket you have been carrying. Truthfully, you were relieved that he wanted to stop because the basket had become increasingly heavier throughout your walk. L nods and waits for you to give him an edge of the beige checkered linen blanket so that you can place it down on the grass. As soon as it’s laid out, L splays himself out on it and watches you unpack the food.

His mouth is nearly frothing at the sweets that you place at the edge of the blanket. “I know, I brought your favorite: strawberry shortcake,” you pause to look back at him with his mouth slightly agape. “But you gotta wait until everything’s ready.” Suddenly aware of himself, L obediently closes his mouth.

At last, you sit across from L with a plate for you to share. L’s eyes grow wide as he reaches for a piece of cake until you swat it away. “Hey,” you coo in a sing-songy voice, “not so fast….” You take the fork out of his hand and cut off a small piece of cake as you feel L’s jet black eyes intensely study your movements. Silently, you lift the fork up towards L’s mouth. “Open,” you say sweetly, waiting for him to comply, which he does quickly. With a smile, you gently feed the cake to L and watch as he closes his eyes in bliss.

One part of L is telling him to be alarmed at the obvious loss of control he’s experiencing, but the other is telling him to relax and allow you to take control of the situation. As he quickly calculates the outcomes of each choice, he realizes that you’ll probably get your way anyway and that it’s no use to object. “’S it good, L?” He opens his eyes to see you watching him intently and nods. “Good, I’m glad. Now gimme a bite, will you?” A sly smile spreads across your face as you pass the other fork to him and wait for him to give you a piece.

The two of you pass some time taking bites of cake, feeding each other strawberries, and talking about random things—from the way L doesn’t like the way the grass pokes his skin to how you’re excited to finally be done with university in a few weeks. Finally, you lie down beside him and situate your head on his chest while his lean fingers languidly massage your scalp. Your breathing quickly syncs together and your chests rise and fall like waves lapping the shore.

“I’m glad we got to go out today. Thank you, y/n.” L picks up your hand resting on your belly and gives it a quick kiss. L had been working on a particularly difficult case for the past few months, which had just wrapped up, so the two of you hadn’t been able to see each other much lately.

“You’re welcome,” you rolled over onto your stomach to face L. “And thank you too. I know how hard it is for you to go into public, but I’m glad to know that you’d do it for me.” You watch as a quick smile paints L’s face, and at that moment, you feel your heart bursting with affection towards him.

“Of course I would, y/n, and I’d do it again, too.” His normally ivory-colored face flushed with color, causing him to turn away from you out of embarrassment.

“L?” He senses you staring at him and slowly meets your gaze again.

“Yes?” His onyx eyes catch yours.

“Can I kiss you?”

“Yes,” he replies, not skipping a beat. You smile as you pepper a few kisses on his jawline towards his lips and when finally your lips meet, he presses into you more firmly than you expected. His technique is a little sloppy, but you know he’s trying. When he’s like this, trying to show you his affection instead of explaining it, he’s like a puppy who wants your attention, and who are you to refuse?

“L, I—" you say in between passionate kisses, “love you.” He immediately pulls away from you to study your facial expression. Oh shit oh shit oh shit maybe this wasn’t a good time I shouldn’t have—

“I love you, too.” He responds quickly, pulling you into another series of needy kisses.

With the whole park empty, you don’t have to hide your affection for each other, and oh, how you wish it could be like this all the time.
