I just really love how queer (KCC) Komi Can't Communicate is.

Najimi is non-binary and will mislead romantic advances by saying a gender

Ren is a lesbian stalker and the writers are not prancing around the lesbian

Katai seduced a group of boys with his bulging muscles (ep. 20)

And Komi is being fought over by a bunch of girls for her attention. (even if it's because they admire her, fighting for the attention of another girl is pretty sus tbh)

Komi 403: Tales From the Summer Festival

Final thoughts:

It was a great chapter. I loved seeing all of the various friend groups enjoying themselves.

Seeing Tadano have so many friends eager to spend time with him brings a tear to my eye, after how poorly he was treated by his classmates (and the school at large) in year 1. Gone are the days where my son is mistreated simply due to his proximity to Komi! My crops are flourishing.

I'm not so much of a fan of the whole "is Komi unpopular?" thing though. Oda can drop that and I wouldn't miss it.

I'm glad I was able to see Nakanaka and Yamai again, though it's a shame that they didn't really interact at all with each other... At least Kishi had some time to shine with her their little battle.

The Musclebound Yakisoba segment with Katai and Kometani was nice, and I like how Oda kept referencing it with the running crowds... although I'm still confused why the vice principal was referred to as the head teacher. Was that a translation mistake? Or was the wrong term used in the original Japanese...? Because I'm like 99% certain the homeroom teacher from year 1 is the current head teacher...

The Naruse and Ase scene was simply peak. Naruse really shined. He's a good boy, see?! And Ase, quit worrying about your sweat! It's fine!!!

The Isagi, Katou, and Sasaki floating heads was a nice touch.

It was nice seeing the snowball fight kids again. It's just a shame they didn't see Komi while they were there. I hope the girls got those prizes they wanted in the end.

Kawai meeting the Onemine's was pretty funny. I wonder how many times Kawai has introduced herself as Tadano and Komi's fiancée so far... The perfectly timed butt slap was great.

Sugakiya... She's cute. Really cute. You think she actually has romantic feelings for Kawai? Or was it just her jealousy getting the better of her? Hm...

Hiki!!! It was really nice to see Hiki out and about again with her friends... She's really out of her element, but she's doing it! She's out of the house! ...And she didn't throw up!

All in all, and excellent chapter. I loved it. More like this!

A Bonding Experience - Komi Can't Communicate Tickle Fic

Lunchtime had rolled around for 1st year Class 1 of Itan Private High School. For the morning preceding the lunch period, all had been smooth sailing, nothing too chaotic had happened.

Still, in this class, Tadano always kept an eye out for sudden surprises.

Today's surprise, like many did, came in the form of his peer, Osana.

Komi and Tadano stuck to their usual routine of eating together today, however, in a surprise turn of events, Komi had agreed to eat away from the classroom in a group setting with a handful of her friends, rather than it just being her and Tadano. Aside from Tadano, the group consisted of Onemine, Katai, Agari, and Osana. Despite her ever-present silence, Komi was completely delighted to be spending her free period with friends. It was actually quite comical to see Onemine try her best to have a straightforward conversation with the incredibly shy and misunderstood Katai, in fact, it added to the experience in both Komi and Tadano's opinion.

And then, there was Osana, who was practically jittering with energy. Maybe they had something sugary for breakfast? Or perhaps they had gone too long sitting in one place, allowing the energy to be built up over the morning? It was truly anyone's guess what the cause was, but either way, Osana was itching to cause chaos. And with most of the group's attention on Katai and Onemine, it was the perfect opportunity to seize the moment. But who to target...?

The answer was quite obviously Tadano, of course.

While the boy was hard at work trying his best to translate Katai's inner thoughts to Onemine, Osana snuck up behind their classmate, a wide, mischievous grin plastered on their face, before diving for his sides, squeezing and scribbling with a purpose!

Poor Tadano was caught so off-guard, the first thing to come out of his mouth was a rather undignified squawk, followed by babbling laughter as Osana continued their ruthless tickle-assult.

"Mwahahaaaah! Fear my ticklish rath, Tadano!" Osana bellowed dramatically as Tadano quickly crumpled over on himself, squirming and pleading pathetically with his lavender-haired classmate.

The scene had instantly grabbed everyone's attention, but Komi's more than anyone. She watched both with surprise, and intent. It never even crossed her mind that Tadano could have been ticklish! Really, there wasn't any reason for Komi to doubt that he was, but still, she had just never thought of it to begin with!

The attack was brief, but it still left Tadano a giggling, blushy mess at the end of it all.

"T-Tadano, are you alright?" Agari cried anxiously.

"Geheh... Ihi'm fine, Agari," Tadano assured, scratching the back of his neck, his blush seemingly growing darker, "i-it didn't hurt, it was just really embarrassing..."

Osana gasped playfully at Agari, pointing an accusing finger at her.

"You think I'd hurt Tadano, my dear childhood friend?" They said, "oooh, for that, I should tickle you next!"

Poor Agari squealed at the notion, waving her hands frantically.

"Nooo! I-I'm way too ticklish for thaaaaat!"

As Tadano regained his composure, he couldn't help but notice Komi staring at him.

"Hm? You okay, Komi?" He asked, to which the girl nodded. Though, if she had to be honest, Komi was actually a bit intrigued. She had never seen Tadano laugh so freely as he just did, it was sweet.

The weekend seemed to arrive quicker than usual, at least it did for Komi. She had invited Tadano over to her home that Saturday, eager to share a new program about the lives of shelter cats that was airing its first episode that afternoon. There was no one she’d rather watch it with more than Tadano, and of course, he was happy to oblige. The two students made themselves comfortable on the living room couch as the program began, but it didn’t take long for the tension to begin to rise in the air as the two realized how close together they were sitting. They could’ve just moved to the floor, but that would’ve made things even more awkward!

Tadano just tried his best to focus on the tv, but Komi having the overactive mind that she did simply allowed her thoughts to take over. She thought back on the previous events of the week, wondering what she scored on her most recent test, how her team won at volleyball in gym class, and of course, sharing her lunch with her friends!

She remembered what Osana did to Tadano. She still couldn’t believe she hadn’t even thought about whether or not Tadano was ticklish until then. Sure it was childish stuff, but she and Tadano were such close friends now, and don’t friends know everything about each other…?

Komi couldn’t help but glance over at Tadano in that moment, she couldn’t help but blush remembering how sweet and free his laughter sounded.

She wondered if maybe…it could be something that would help them become closer?

Komi couldn’t look away before Tadano caught her staring, and she jumped.

“Komi? What’s up?” he asked curiously, “I thought you were really excited to watch this program?”

Komi didn’t know what came over her at that very moment. It was just like her body had a will of its own, and swiftly moved toward Tadano, causing the boy to share the same shy blush as his friend.

“Uh, K-Komi…?” Tadano said, confused.

Komi’s hands found their way to Tadano’s torso, her slender fingers wrapping around his ribs and gently squeezing up and down, sending the boy into a frantic giggling fit!

“Gyah-! K-Kohohomi, what are yohohou dohohoing???” Tadano squealed, his own hands gently wrapping around Komi’s wrists in protest. Komi didn’t relent, however. Finally hearing Tadano’s laugh again only seemed to encourage her to continue. The girl of few words made quick work of wiggling and squeezing her fingers all along Tadano’s ribs, sides, tummy, and hips. The boy ravenette soon found himself in hysterics. Tadano was an incredibly sensitive person as it was, a single surprise poke to the side could send him flying ten feet into the air! Not only that, but this was Komi tickling him! Somehow, that fact alone seemed to heighten his sensitivity!

“KohohohomiiiiEEEEEEHEEHEEHEE! Nohohoho tihIHIHICKLIHIHINGGG!!!” Tadano whined pathetically, wiggling back and forth on the couch as Komi relentlessly tortured as many tickle spots as she could. Unfortunately for Tadano, he hadn’t seen the worst of it yet. The thing that really killed him was when Komi poked her index finger into his bellybutton through his shirt, delicately drilling into the indent. Tanado wheezed and squealed, almost sounding like a little kitten! Of course, this excited Komi, and the look in her eyes gave that away. She couldn’t help but smile sweetly down at her ticklish friend as he lost himself to hysterics. It was only when Komi saw the tears of mirth begin to prick the corners of his eyes that she finally relented, pulling her hands away… only to realize that Tadano’s hands were still gently wrapped around her wrists, and she froze again.

Tadano lay on the couch for a good minute, giggling up a storm and catching his breath. He could barely comprehend what had just happened… Then a voice interrupted everything.

“Shoko…. Uh, mom said she’d like you to take the trash out if you’re… not too busy,” Shosuke announced a bit awkwardly from the living room doorway. The two older teens simply stared in awkward shock, a silent tension rising over the room.

“Uh… yeah… just get to that whenever you can, please,” he added, shuffling away from the living room.

Tadano now had a prominent blush on his face, which only grew stronger as he looked back at Komi and realized he was holding the girl’s wrists.

“Gah! S-sorry Komi, I didn’t even realize I was doing that!” Tadano said, letting go of her wrists and scooting back on the couch.

Komi squeaked and frantically shook her head, trying to tell Tadano that it wasn’t an issue. Tadano was so good at translating exactly what Komi’s body language was saying that he understood immediately.

“Oh, you’re sure it’s alright? I wasn’t grabbing you too hard…?”

Komi picked up the notepad and pen she had left sitting on the coffee table and began to scribble something down, before flipping it over for Tadano to read.

Tadano’s heart skipped a beat… or five. She thought his laugh was nice?

“Komi, you don’t have to apologize,” Tadano assured, “I mean, it’s normal for friends to tickle each other every once in a while…”

Komi held the notepad up in front of her face to hide her blush, and Tadano just smiled.

“Heh… I honestly wouldn’t mind if you wanted to do it again,” he admitted, scratching the back of his neck, “just… warn me next time so I can be prepared, okay?”

Komi let out a small gasp, and nodded rather eagerly, lowering the notepad back down.

“Heh, well alright then! Wanna finish the rest of the program now?” Tadano asked, getting back into a proper sitting position on the couch.

Komi nodded, and also repositioned herself back on the couch, right next to Tadano, but this time it felt different. The two weren’t as tense, and it almost felt natural!

Maybe Komi’s intuition about it bringing them closer together was right. Still, she’d have to test her theory a few more times, just to be sure…
