Objectivity not Psychopathy
The Good Psychopath's Guide to Success By: Andy McNab, Kevin Dutton Dear Kevin Dutton, I love the objective story-telling of McNab and others like him, but our belittled, dominated sons of mothers, DO have non-objective, lustful/emotional needs for a female.
Objective normality:
There are a few men who don’t allow that gullible side to have power over their actions around women, who use that self-control and discipline to guide their thinking, even around women. One well-known man, I follow, who has that mindset, was also in the SAS reserves, is my human encouragement in this over-powered female era, even though -I would argue -his mindset is a bit messed up by the half century-old feminist zeitgeist. Suffragettes and feminism is one of the main delusions of this age [in my humble, and not very popular opinion- but that’s another bugbear for a different time!] But going back to this so-called psychopathy when yet another woman gets that space in McNab’s life, where the psychopathy then? It ain’t there in that situation, because he has not mastered it. I’m just using that as an example of my title.
Objectivity not Psychopathy As with all human beings, our outward man [non gender specific – scriptural use] is extremely affected by nurture, or lack of good nurture. Scripturally, along with other forms of therapeutic efforts, we may understand that our inner man [again, my Scriptural use of this concept] is also affected by our family spiritual/soul-tie legacy. So that is the beginnings of our human make-up, even before we reach an age of understanding/consent/self-awareness. Without going in to specifics of other spiritual adversities, we respond to life from the above foundations. Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” We all have that basis in our acceptance of who we are, and what we are here for.
Many parents do not have a lovely nurturing personality within them. This helps us understand why so many of us fall short of being a happy, well-balanced, confident individual. Nurture – or lack of it – produces our main responses to life. No blame needs to be spread about, just an understanding of the forces against many of us on this earth.
So when I have observed the ability of some people to go about the world with an innate friendliness and expectancy [and consequently: receiving] of friendliness, I can understand why this was never my own foundational experience. Not only that, but I observed that when I spoke plain truth in my own objective and unfettered exposition, I managed to upset people. Yet when I listened to their own explanation of my ‘mistaken’ opinions, I found that they were speaking from their own emotional disposition, but yet it actually backed up my own words, but the interpretation is individualistic. That is the conflict: emotion versus objectivity. I can see the big picture, i.e. my mind encapsulates memory of events and results of said events. Whereas, I have come to understand that most people can only receive the immediate as truth. They generally fall down on keeping a perspective of the big picture. To me that again speaks of emotional response to immediate events versus the inevitability of THE BIG PICTURE. Restrictive emotional response, versus objectivity [unblinkered-by emotional subjectivity]. I used to think my personality was psychopathic, but I have come to understand, that God’s formation of my personality was not different to others, in that I’m not a rogue element in this life!! Psalms 139 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I don’t believe God’s formation was psychopathy, but objectivity, and it is a characteristic which is not often put into a person.
Dutton's last questionnaire:
how good are you at uncoupling behaviour from emotion?
My point precisely

ABC-ul psihopatului 2 (recenzie)

Aspiring To Be A ‘Good’ Psychopath
Tumblr media
Since studying psychology, it’s been hard to pinpoint a specific area that I love the most. There comes a point you’re encouraged to pick a discipline. Are you a neuroscientist? Are you a social psychologist? Perhaps a statistician? Personally, there’s too much out there that fascinates me for me to pin down a specific area. Maybe I will in time, but for now, I’m enjoying exploring all psychology has to offer.
One debate we come back to time after time is the validity and consequences of labels. Medical professionals have the ability to label a human being, usually according to a medical model, and that label has a lot of power. It can both liberate and oppress. I was curious about how labelling works and if there’s scope for expanding a label despite popular stereotypes and myths. I decided to research psychopathy, after all, who isn’t morbidly fascinated by psychopaths? I began to read Kevin Dutton, a British psychologist who specialises in psychopathy. His pop-psychology books, ‘The Wisdom of Psychopaths’ and a collaborative project resulting in ‘How To Be a Good Psychopath’ (written with Andy McNab) were some of the first literature I’ve read that suggests psychopathy could be a neutral phenomena or even good.
Dutton’s argument rests on the fact that the traits that define psychopathy are traits we all can cultivate and they are not inherently bad traits. They include: ruthlessness, fearlessness, mental toughness, charm, persuasiveness and a lack of conscience and empathy. In ‘The Wisdom of Psychopaths’, Dutton looks at how if someone from a low socioeconomic background or with challenges in life experiences these traits, they are more likely to develop into a ‘bad’ psychopath simply due to their environment. If you are fearless, ruthless, and are by no fault of your own living in an extremely deprived area, you may turn to criminality to advance your situation. However these traits when linked with more affluent settings can be a great advantage. The charming CEO? The persuasive City broker? The ruthless lawyer? The difference lies in whether you are privileged or oppressed.
Dutton and McNab’s collaboration whilst easy to read and mildly amusing gets a little tiresome after a while, drifting away from actual psychological insight and into boorish, macho banter. I would still recommend it if you have an open mind, enjoy psychological discourse and would like to hone your (good) psychopathic skills! I’m cursed with something diagnosed psychopaths are lacking: emotions. I feel everything on a deep, intense level that rocks me to my core. Psychopaths can feel but it is extremely unlikely they will feel remorse or depressive emotions. Some neuroscientific research suggests psychopaths have less activity in the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for the emotion of anxiety and fear. This is what can lead to psychopaths constantly chasing the next thrill; they aren’t scared of the consequences and are always looking for excitement.
A prisoner in Broadmoor Hospital, England tells Dutton: “I have to feel good. Feeling good is an emergency for me.” However, his psychopathy and personal actions have led to him being a patient in a high-security psychiatric setting, so we can already infer this emergency was causing harm in the outside world. Yet, the quote stuck with me. All too often (in my experience and many other millennials) we can forget to prioritise feeling good.
Here are the self-growth points I took away from Dutton’s insights.
A Good Psychopath:
Lives in the moment. Psychopaths don’t plan! They live in here and now. Dutton even talks about how this trait is linked to the current trend of mindfulness. So … that email? Those cross words with my BFF? I’ve already moved on — good psychopath style.
Doesn’t take it personally. Dwelling on an insult or perceived injustice towards you for hours, days, or even longer is simply giving your energy to something or someone for no good reason.
Funnily enough, a good psychopath is agreeable. Non-psychopaths will fight a corner for their whole lives. Psychopaths, because they don’t things personally, can agree with you even if they think your idea is trash. They’ll end up doing what they want anyway, so why waste time in an argument?
Is rational. They can step outside of the moment and put emotions to a side, therefore less likely to get into a verbal-bust up or have their ego bruised (it’s unlikely they’d be feeling the way many of us do in heightened situations anyway, especially those of us who are atypical/non-neurotypical). They won’t be feeling hurt, upset, angry, frustrated, anxious, fearful.
Has fun! A good psychopath likes to have a laugh. They love charming people and they enjoy people admiring them but their whole self worth doesn’t rest on if others like them or not. Psychopaths actually don’t care. They’re uber-confident.
I don’t always manage to achieve these goals. Like with any form of self-care, practice can take time.
Concluding, I would argue that yes, there is such a thing as a good psychopath. I know I am not one and never will be due to those pesky emotions and my ridiculously overactive amygdala. Some of my personal growth goals are related to being grounded, more present and less reactive. I’ve made progress with these over the past couple of years and I believe the actions I’m taking forward from Dutton’s work will contribute to my journey. I also have a few friends who, if not are good psychopaths, irr on the side of good psychopathy and inspire me with their pearls of wisdom. They insist “playing the game”, chilling out, cutting your losses and jumping into the next big thing is worth it. Whilst I’m good at these in theory, I’m always left with an emotional hangover: I can get stuck with feelings and anxieties, a need to constantly defend myself, overthink something or worry of other people’s perceptions of me. I’m working on replacing that inner critic’s voice with an inner good, kind psychopath. Instead of “ugh, now they hate you. You’ll never get past this” I’m working to implement a “aw shucks, that’s awkward. Never mind. You did your best, kid. No hard feelings. Let’s crack on!”
Much better, isn’t it? I hope you can find your inner Good Psychopath too.

Slash and the Bleeding Hearts - band pic circa early 80′s
Bio by Slash and the Bleeding Hearts Drummer George Miller: I started the band around 1979 with singer Barry Sainchuck.Barry and I played together in a band called Gallery and when that band folded, we started Slash and The Bleeding Hearts. We added guitarist Kevin Alstad, and Bassist Gary Law (R.I.P.). And off we went doing the same as all the bands starting out back then. Taking on big dept buying PA systems and light gear, but without that we would not have been able to get many gigs. Around 1981/1982 Barry decided it was starting to take up a little more time then he had to give so we started to look for his replacement. Eventually finding Mark Boutiller as the singer and also adding rhythm guitarist/ keyboard Kelly McCarthy. Along with sound man Bill Kennedy (R.I.P). Shortly thereafter bassists Gary left the band and we added Eugeene Goertzen who had just finished playing in local band Patch. I was very familiar with Gene as he and I also played in Gallery together, so the rhythm section came together in a hurry. One of the bands big turns was when we opened for a show at the U OF A. I think it was the first gig with the new members. The room went absolutely crazy. After that we were booked solid going from struggling playing low profile bars to crowds of 500 to1000 people and lining up local clubs every weekend. As things went on and we decided that were going to take the band on the road Gene was not able to continue as he had started his own business with his brother, so we parted ways and added bass player Don Airchuck. (R.I.P.). Not long after Don came on board Kevin was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and had to leave the band for treatment. He beat the cancer and was back to his normal self about a year later. In the meantime we replaced Kevin with Brent McNab, (R.I.P.) and replaced Don with Frank Juskiw (R.I.P.) We worked hard on trying to get a record deal but were never able to find the one we wanted and a few years later Slash was finished and we all went our separate ways but always stayed close to each other. Slash was like a family to all of us and to this day still is to this day.The Band ended around 1984. Had a Reunion show in 1990 at the Convention Inn South and will have another Reunion show on September 14, 2019 at Shaker’s Road House.

23, 29, 40 😊😘💕
23. Who is your favourite author of all time? Damn this a hard one, I think I'm gonna go with Kevin Dutton. His book The Good Psycopath's Guide to Success, I've read far too many times as you probably know😕. But I love his writing style. I suppose I should also say Andy McNab who co-authors quite a few words his books. 29. What book are you currently reading? I'm currently rereading the Harry Potter series and am Prisoner of Azkaban. 40. What's the weirdest book you have read? As in my last answer I'm still struggle to answer this, but I looked through my books again and found 1001 ridiculous ways to die by David Southwell. And it's got some weird shit in it. Thanks for the ask lovely 😘
