How about doing a cult au where reader is easily flusters and shy, and when their really embarrassed they turn into a small cute animal, I wonder how they react to that! Or reader can heal any wound, but it makes them really tired or have headaches that can last depending how bad the wound is. Or imposter au the reader is really laidback and cool even after all they went through and easily forgives them. Or soft cult au where reader doesn't see the others as servants, but as friends.
Miscellaneous SAGAU Concepts pt. 1
CW: Possessive behavior, cult AU, Violence/monster killing
Shy reader:
How is it that the gods of entire nations can’t catch a single bunny rabbit?
You couldn’t help but blush and curl in on yourself as Ei unabashedly praised your kindness. Venti insisted on writing poems and songs all about your greatness. Zhongi refused to leave your side
“It was nothing,” you mumbled but the archons wouldn’t allow such slander to be said about their creator, not even if it was coming from yourself.
You shrank until the world reflected how you felt, big and intimidating. You craved the comfort of warmth, your friends’ arms would be a nice comfort, but of all the people towering above you, they made you feel the most shy.
It didn’t take long for them to notice that their great leader had vanished.
____
You had started to notice they had gotten a bit more… aggressive– to say the least– in their methods of trying to capture you. Zhongli summoned his pillars of stone, that pulsed and shook the ground, to the point that you might as well have been floating in the air with how violently the ground pulsed and pushed you around. Venti summoned a full tornado that you feared would have ripped you apart and thrown you into Celestia if you had been a normal human. Ei mobilized her entire army as well as somehow managed to convince the members of the resistance from Watatsumi to take part in their search and hunt for you.
Nahida was the most successful out of them all, but you knew her tricks. You wouldn’t let her keep you trapped in a dream. She may have been the most gentle and understanding, but you could see she shared the same insane look as the rest of the archons.
The Tsaritsa was the most difficult to evade of them all, truly the most terrifying. As the goddess of love, she can feel every beating heart, whisper to them, and enlighten them. You sprinted on four legs, then flew on two wings, then swam as fast as you could. It was no use. She’s too powerful. Getting trapped in a blizzard in her domain was just barely worse than being on land being chased by Morax.
You can only run for so long, little rabbit. Your followers will catch you soon. They only see this as a test of faith, test of determination and devolution. They’ve all agreed that whoever catches you first will end up your most favored. They’re more and more motivated by their competitiveness and need to be loved by you.
Healer Reader:
Strike to kill. Do not let the creator know of the slaughter.
The archons insist that you reserve your healing powers. That no one, not even them are worthy of being healed by you, especially considering that it would mean you sacrificing your own well-being for that person.
Imagine their alarm when they find you gasping, bleeding, as you heal a lowly slime. They drag you away. Barely able to hide their jealousy of the puny monster for taking your attention and taking advantage of your powers.
Perhaps if they can’t stop you from using them, then instead they can redirect them to purposes truly worthy of your prowess.
Venti come to you, a few scratches and cuts sheepishly saying he tripping into some bushes in wolvendom picking some wolfehook berries for you. You smile softly and gently cup his cheek, swiping your thumb over skin that’s already smoothed over.
There. All better.
“Thank you so much, your diviness!”
You laugh and shake your head at the name. When will they just use your regular name?
———————————
Zhongli comes to you one night, poorly hiding his limp. He jokes that he must be getting old as he tripped on his way up the stairs to your room.
“Please, don’t waste your powers on me. I’d hate to burden you with unnecessary pain, great one.”
Zhongli, please…
You don’t have to say anything more as he relents, allowing you to heal his throbbing ankle.
He only feels a shred of regret when he sees you wince.
He dotes and fusses over you as soon as he’s healed. Insisting that you lay in bed and let him take care of anything and everything for you, as now you’re the one injured.
He’s excessive and overbearing.
It’s amusing to watch him buzz about like a bee.
————————
You almost don’t recognize Ei when you find her out in the forest, covered in blood and monster dust. She’s completely unhurt. What monster could really contest her? But she isn’t immune to fatigue. She hasn’t slept much since you left to visit the other archons, eagerly awaiting your return to Inazuma.
You take her hand and almost collapse.
Ei… how long have you been awake? How long have you been fighting?
“Hm… not long. About a week now, I think?”
You don’t even have it in you to make your eyes go wide. Just leaning on her and frowning.
You need to take care of yourself Ei.
“Ah… you didn’t need to use your healing powers on me, Divinity. Let’s go back to the palace. I’ll carry you.”
You don’t protest. You neither have the strength nor mental will power to do so. You simple let her wrap her strong arms around your body and take off running through the trees and up and down the hills. She slows when you tug at her dress and tell her that the speed is making you dizzy.
You blush bright red, and tell Ei she can put you down now. You’re not sure you want people seeing you be carried by the goddess. You may be exhausted, but you humiliation will win out.
Of course this is the one time she doesn’t listen to your commands. Simply shaking her head and telling you that she doesn’t want to risk making your condition worse.
You hide your face in her dress and groan.
“Do you feel worse? Perhaps I will stop to buy you some herbs”
You shake your head. How much worse can this get?
——————————
Nahida suffers from an aching heart. Why can’t she remember what she misses so dearly? Why can she find nothing that can explain this void in her heart, like a window with a hole in it, sharp shards scraping at anyone who dares try reaching in to search beyond it.
You have to keep her in your arms, continuously using your powers to ease the pain. It hurts so much. It must be so hard for her to deal with it everyday. You want to do everything you can to help her.
Surprisingly it’s her that has to convince you to let her go, promising that she’ll be okay. Saying that if you can’t keep hurting yourself for her sake. And giving you her best smile when you insist that you can.
“I’ll be okay, I promise. I’m just happy I get to be with my creator. That’s enough to heal me, without any powers needed.”
Laidback/Soft reader (decided to combine them because i felt they fit well together)
Your casualness honestly doubles the archons’ stress levels.
They can’t seem to convince you that it’s beneath you to associate yourself with the humans and monsters. But you won’t listen.
You go climbing and gliding with Amber. Drinking with Kaeya and Rosaria (supervised by Diluc), and Beidou when you’re in Liyue. You insist that Jean takes you out, dragging her to the great tree and having her tell you Vanessa’s tale again and again. Helping Lisa carry her many heavy books, and insisting Eula teach you how to dance, even after you twisted your ankle.
You forgive them all so easily. You don’t take offense to Keqing’s standoff-ish attitude and skepticism, which ends up working in your favor as she comes around to believing you to be the ideal form of god. One that doesn’t not try to reach beyond their means, though perhaps a bit lazy in her mind.
You nearly give Zhongli a heart attack when you tell him you’re going with Yelan down into the Chasm. He tries to insist on going with you, ending up secretly trailing behind as you and Alatus and Yelan descend into the depths purely because you insisted on it.
(You take advantage of your title quite a bit, using it to get more than you probably deserve. You can’t help it, you always wanted to travel around Tevyat and now you can! But only if you tell your followers that you’re going to do it. If you ask, they’ll always tell you no. “It’s for your safety” they insist. But you don’t want to cower away. You’re going to see every corner of this world, if it’s the last thing you do).
Ei travels with you. Follows you, true to her name, like a shadow. She protects you from the lighting on the other isles. Technically she doesn’t need to fight the Nobushi, even they praise and honor your name, but she does. She will cut them down faster than you can blink, even at 100 yards away. Only if you tell her not to, will she stop her spree. But you won’t be able to convince her to not attack the monsters like the hilichurls and abyss hounds. They don’t deserve to be in your presence.

heyo how does a headcanon of our KH boys sound but get this…in a our dining table bl version? :)
I love my boys and I love Our Dining Table...I'm listening, I'm listening 👀 (I also used the manga to write this headcanon and it's long so it'll be under the cut). I hope you like it!
It’s a rather quiet and peaceful day in Jing City as Chief Jiang Yuelou was out on patrol, just enjoying the sunshine when something (or someone) slammed into him, making him look down to see a little girl around the age five staring up at him with wide eyes
“Oh…hello”
He then slowly knelt down so that he was eye-level with her
“Are you lost?”
The little girl shook her head
“No.  I’m just waiting for my gege”
Jiang Yuelou hummed, just as a young man dressed in a cream three-piece suit ran over to them, a doctor’s bag in his hand
“Keying!  What have I told you about running off?!”
He then took her by the hand before he looked at Jiang Yuelou apologetically
“I’m so sorry”
Jiang Yuelou shook his head as he pushed himself to his feet
“No, no…it’s alright.  She didn’t hurt me”
The young man smiled slightly and nodded before he looked down at Keying
“Come on, let’s go”
Keying nodded before they began to walk away, Keying turning to wave goodbye to Jiang Yuelou before she turned her attention to the young man, whom Jiang Yuelou assumed was her brother, and began talking happily, the young man smiling fondly in reply
Jiang Yuelou watched the two for a moment before he smiled and continued on his patrol
Well that was…nice
The next day, when Jiang Yuelou was on patrol again, the little girl, Keying if he remembered her name correctly, ran up to him, a bright smile on her face
“Mr. Policeman!”
Jiang Yuelou looked at her in surprise
“How did you know I’m a police officer?”
Keying smiled
“I can just tell”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled as he knelt before her
“Clever little girl, aren’t you?”
Just then, the young man walked over them and sighed softly
“Keying…”
He then looked at Jiang Yuelou and smiled apologetically
“I’m sorry, Mr.—”
Jiang Yuelou smiled as he pushed himself to his feet
“Jiang Yuelou.  Chief Jiang Yuelou”
The young man smiled
“Dr. Chen Yuzhi”
Jiang Yuelou hummed
“Dr. Chen”
He then looked at him
“My lunch break is in a little bit…would you two like to join me for lunch?”
Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened before he shook his head
“Sorry…I have a house call to make in a moment”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“I understand”
“But—”
Jiang Yuelou raised an eyebrow
“But?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“Would dinner be alright?”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise before he smiled and nodded
“Dinner sounds great.  Shall I meet you…at your clinic when I’m finished with work?”
Chen Yuzhi nodded
“That sounds good”
He then looked down at Keying and held out his hand
“Come on, Keying”
Keying nodded and took his hand before she looked at Jiang Yuelou and grinned
“Bye Mr. Policeman!”
Jiang Yuelou smiled softly and dipped his head
“Bye Keying”
He then watched them walk away before he chuckled softly; he was looking forward to eating dinner with the two of them
Later that evening, after he finished work, Jiang Yuelou headed out of the police department and through the streets, searching for Chen Yuzhi’s clinic when he soon found the sign “Yuzhi Hall” above one of the street-front stores, causing him to smile slightly
‘Ah…found you’
He then walked over to the clinic, just as Chen Yuzhi and Keying were exiting, Keying smiling brightly when she saw him
“Chief Jiang!”
At her shout, Chen Yuzhi turned and smiled slightly
“Did you just get here?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Yeah.  Perfect timing, huh?”
Chen Yuzhi laughed and nodded
“Yeah”
After he locked up, he took Keying’s hand before he looked at Jiang Yuelou
“Shall we go?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded before he, Chen Yuzhi, and Keying walked away from Chen Yuzhi’s clinic, the three of them walking through the quiet streets of Jing City until they came upon a wonton stand, much to Jiang Yuelou’s surprise
“Oh.  You come here too?”
Chen Yuzhi looked over at him in surprise
“You come here?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded as he motioned to a house not too far from the wonton stand
“It’s not too far from my house so it’s easy to come to after work”
Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened before he laughed
“I didn’t realize we lived so close to each other”
Jiang Yuelou blinked in surprise before he laughed
“What a coincidence”
He then motioned to the wonton stand
“Shall we?”
Chen Yuzhi nodded before the three of them sat down at one of the tables, Jiang Yuelou ordering for all of them
When the food arrived, they ate in silence and after they finished, Jiang Yuelou looked at Chen Yuzhi and smiled
“How about next time we have dinner at my house?”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him in surprise as Keying reached over and gave his coat sleeve a tug
“Can we, gege?”
Chen Yuzhi looked over at her before he looked at Jiang Yuelou and nodded
“Sure.  That’d be nice”
Jiang Yuelou grinned
“Great”
The next time Jiang Yuelou, Chen Yuzhi, and Keying got together for dinner, Jiang Yuelou invited Chen Yuzhi and Keying over to his house, Keying immediately enamored with his cat
“You can go play with him, I’ll go make dinner”
Keying nodded and went to go play with the cat while Chen Yuzhi followed Jiang Yuelou into the kitchen
“Is there anything I can help with?”
Jiang Yuelou looked over at him and laughed, shaking his head
“You’re a guest, I’m not going to make you cook”
Chen Yuzhi frowned
“Are you sure?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Yes, yes.  Now go relax with your sister, dinner should be done soon”
Chen Yuzhi huffed before he nodded and turned, heading out of the kitchen as Jiang Yuelou began to prepare dinner
About an hour or so later, Jiang Yuelou brought out the dishes and placed them on the table before he looked over at Keying and Chen Yuzhi
“Dinner’s ready”
Keying and Chen Yuzhi looked over at him before they both headed over to the table, Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widening at the spread
“This looks incredible!”
Jiang Yuelou smiled and waved his hand
“This is nothing, just something I like to make every now and then”
Chen Yuzhi looked over at him and smiled
“Well, it looks and smells incredible.  Thank you for inviting us”
Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widened before he nodded
“Of course.  Shall we eat?”
Keying and Chen Yuzhi nodded, all of them beginning to eat what Jiang Yuelou made, Keying letting out a happy hum as she did a little dance in her seat
“Yummy!”
Chen Yuzhi nodded
“It is really good, Jiang Yuelou”
Jiang Yuelou smiled softly
“I’m glad you like it”
Keying then looked at him
“Will you teach me how to make this, gege?”
Jiang Yuelou looked at her in shock before he looked over at Chen Yuzhi
“Um—”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“I’m okay with it.  But only if you are”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“No, no, I am, it’s just…”
He then paused before he looked at Keying and smiled
“Sure”
After dinner, as Chen Yuzhi was helping Jiang Yuelou clean up, Jiang Yuelou cleared his throat
“I’m…glad you both liked dinner”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“It was really good”
Jiang Yuelou smiled
“I’m glad”
His smile then turned sad
“It was my mother’s recipe.  What we had for dinner tonight.  I haven’t…made it in years but…I wanted to impress you two and…”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him before he reached out and placed a gentle hand on his arm
“We were both very impressed”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“I’m glad”
He then laughed weakly
“Making dinner tonight…I felt like I was a kid again, making dinner with my mother.  It was…nice”
Chen Yuzhi was quiet before he gave his arm a squeeze
“Tell me about her sometime?”
Jiang Yuelou blinked and looked over at him in shock before he nodded
“Okay”
Chen Yuzhi then tilted his head
“When should we come over for cooking lessons?”
Jiang Yuelou blinked again before he laughed
“Um…how about next weekend?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled and nodded
“Okay”
The next weekend, Chen Yuzhi and Keying came over for their “cooking” lesson, Chen Yuzhi mainly observing while Jiang Yuelou taught Keying how to make the dumplings and the noddle dish his mother used to make for him when he was younger
After their lesson, they ate the finished dishes, Jiang Yuelou smiling softly
“It’s good for your first attempt”
Chen Yuzhi nodded
“It is good.  Well done, A-Ying”
Keying beamed, happy to be praised as Chen Yuzhi looked over at Jiang Yuelou
“Do you want to come over to our house next time and we can teach you a recipe?”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise before he laughed
“I’d love to”
After that, it just…sort of became a thing
Every other weekend, Jiang Yuelou or Chen Yuzhi and Keying would head over to the other’s house and learn a new recipe from the other before eating it for either lunch or dinner
And sometimes instead of going to the other’s house for dinner, they would just eat dinner at the wonton stand, but that was still enjoyable because they were together
After hanging out with each other for a while, everyone began to notice a difference in the two men…the other police officers noticed that Jiang Yuelou smiled more, he whistled while walking through the police department…he just seemed happier
And as for Chen Yuzhi, well, he always smiled and was relatively happy but to his patients he just seemed…brighter
Then one day, as Jiang Yuelou was out doing patrol, he noticed Chen Yuzhi heading out, but to his surprise, Keying wasn’t with him
“Chen Yuzhi!”
At his name, Chen Yuzhi looked up and when he saw Jiang Yuelou coming towards him, he smiled slightly
“Jiang Yuelou”
Jiang Yuelou then tilted his head
“No Keying today?”
Chen Yuzhi shook her head
“She’s not feeling well.  I left her at home and I’m trying to finish up this house call quickly so that I can go home and look after her”
Jiang Yuelou hummed
“Why don’t I go?”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him with wide eyes
“I couldn’t ask you—”
Jiang Yuelou shook his head
“I don’t mind”
Chen Yuzhi smiled and dipped his head
“Thank you.  Really”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Of course”
Chen Yuzhi smiled again before he reached into his pocket and took out his keys, carefully removing one of them from his keychain before he handed it to Jiang Yuelou
“Here.  So you can get into the house”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Thank you”
Chen Yuzhi smiled and shook his head
“No, thank you”
He then continued on his way, Jiang Yuelou turning to watch him leave before he continued on with his patrol, making his way towards Chen Yuzhi’s house
When he arrived at the house, he unlocked the gate and pushed it open before he stepped inside, closing it behind him before he made his way through the courtyard and into the house, immediately noticing Keying resting on the couch
At the sight of her, he smiled softly and walked over to her, quietly kneeling beside her
“Keying?”
At her name, Keying weakly opened an eye and when she saw him, she smiled weakly
“Gege”
Jiang Yuelou’s smile widened
“Hey.  How are you feeling?”
Keying shook her head
“Icky”
Jiang Yuelou hummed before he reached out and gently placed the back of his hand to her forehead, humming softly
“You feel warm…let me go make you something”
Keying nodded before she shut her eyes, Jiang Yuelou gently petting her hair before he pushed himself to his feet and headed to the kitchen to make her something warm and comforting to hopefully help her feel better
After he made her a simple bowl of congee, Jiang Yuelou walked back out into the living room and knelt before Keying, gently shaking her shoulder
“Keying.  Come on, let’s eat a little”
Keying opened her eyes and looked at him before she nodded and slowly sat up, Jiang Yuelou pushing himself to his feet before he sat beside her, placing the bowl of congee in her hands
“Can you hold it or do you want me to hold it?”
Keying shook her head
“I can do it”
Jiang Yuelou nodded and watched as she took careful and small bites, as if she didn’t want to make herself sick or throw up
“You don’t have to eat all of it, but I just want you to have something in your stomach”
Keying nodded as she continued to eat, still taking small bites, before she put the bowl down
“I’m full”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Okay”
Keying then let out a yawn before she leaned against him, causing him to look down at her in surprise before he chuckled softly and reached over, gently petting her hair, just as Chen Yuzhi stepped into the house
“Sorry I’m late”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him and shook his head
“Don’t apologize”
Chen Yuzhi then looked at Keying and smiled softly before he walked over to them and carefully scooped Keying into his arms, pressing a gentle kiss to her hair before he looked at Jiang Yuelou
“I’m going to go put her down”
Jiang Yuelou nodded, Chen Yuzhi nodding in reply before he headed to Keying’s bedroom to lay her down while Jiang Yuelou cleaned up
After he had cleaned up and Chen Yuzhi had put Keying down for a nap, they both walked over to the couch, neither man saying anything before Chen Yuzhi let out a soft sigh
“Thank you, Jiang Yuelou, really”
Jiang Yuelou looked over at him before he shook his head
“It’s not a problem”
Chen Yuzhi then laughed softly
“It’s just…it’s been just us for so long that I’ve forgotten what it’s like to…have a support system.  And someone to turn to when times get…hard”
Jiang Yuelou frowned
“It’s just been you two?”
Chen Yuzhi looked over at him and nodded
“Mm.  Our parents died when Keying was young, so…I’ve been raising her all by myself”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in shock
“By yourself?  Without any help?”
Chen Yuzhi nodded
“Yes, which is why I’m really grateful to you.  Not just for looking out for Keying but for…being willing to eat dinner or lunch with us and just…spend time with us.  It’s nice…for it to not just always be us”
Jiang Yuelou was quiet before he smiled slightly
“I’m grateful to you and Keying as well…I haven’t known what it’s like to share a meal with someone in a very long time”
Chen Yuzhi frowned
“What do you mean?”
Jiang Yuelou smiled sadly
“Well…like you, my parents are no longer around.  My mother left when I was eleven and my dad died when I was twelve.  So…I’ve been on my own for a while”
Chen Yuzhi gasped softly
“Jiang Yuelou”
Jiang Yuelou shook his head
“It’s okay”
He then laughed
“You know what’s funny?  I never noticed it, but after spending time with you and Keying, I realized…that I’m very lonely”
He then looked over at Chen Yuzhi and smiled
“But I’m not lonely anymore.  So thank you”
Chen Yuzhi blinked before he blushed slightly and nodded
“You’re welcome”
Silence then fell over them before Jiang Yuelou hummed
“You know…”
Chen Yuzhi looked over at him and raised an eyebrow as he smiled slightly
“…you’re doing a good job”
Chen Yuzhi blinked
“What?”
Jiang Yuelou laughed
“With Keying.  She’s growing well, she’s always smiling and laughing, she’s healthy, she loves spending time with you…”
He then looked at him
“You’re doing a good job.  You’re a good older brother”
Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened before they began to fill with tears, causing Jiang Yuelou’s eyes to widen in shock
“Yuzhi!  Shit, did I say something wrong?!”
Chen Yuzhi laughed softly and shook his head as he wiped his eyes, only the tears wouldn’t stop falling
“No, no, it’s just…I haven’t had anyone say that to me.  And I…I guess I never realized how much I needed to hear it”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him before he reached out and pulled him against him, Chen Yuzhi freezing before he turned and buried his face in his shoulder, letting out a soft sob
Jiang Yuelou smiled softly and hugged him tightly, gently rubbing his back until he calmed down, both men soon pulling away from each other
“Sorry”
Jiang Yuelou shook his head as he reached up and gently wiped away his tears with his thumbs
“No, no, don’t apologize”
Silence then fell over them before Chen Yuzhi cleared his throat
“Um…Christmas is coming up in a few weeks.  Maybe…you’d like to get tang yuan together?  The three of us?”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise before he smiled
“Yeah…I’d like that”
After that, a few weeks passed in a flash and soon it was Christmas, but when Jiang Yuelou woke up that day…he felt awful
‘Why today…why today of all days…’
He then slowly pushed himself up and slipped out a bed, heading to the bathroom to get ready before he headed out of the bathroom and over to the phone, dialing a number before he placed it to his ear
“Hello?”
“Chen Yuzhi”
“Jiang Yuelou?!  Are you alright?  You sound awful”
Jiang Yuelou laughed weakly before he coughed, a horrible sound to his ears
“I think I’ve caught a cold.  So, I won’t be able to eat tang yuan with you and Keying this Christmas.  Sorry”
Chen Yuzhi hummed softly
“Well, let me come over and give you some medicine.  We don’t want your cold to get worst”
Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widened slightly before he frowned
“Are you sure?  I don’t want you to get sick”
Chen Yuzhi laughed
“I’ll be okay.  I’ll be over in a little bit, okay?”
Jiang Yuelou hummed
“Okay”
He then hung up the phone, letting out a soft cough just as there was a knock at his door, making him look up in surprise before he walked over to it and opened it to find Chen Yuzhi standing outside, his kit in hand
“Took you no time to get here”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“Well, I do live just down the street”
Jiang Yuelou laughed and nodded
“Yeah.  Come in”
He then stepped aside, allowing Chen Yuzhi into the house, just as Xiao Bai walked over to him
“Hello Xiao Bai”
Chen Yuzhi then paused and knelt down, giving Xiao Bai a fond scritch under the chin before he pushed himself to his feet and motioned to the couch
“Please”
Jiang Yuelou nodded and walked over to the couch, sitting down as Chen Yuzhi sat down beside him, opening up his kit before he grabbed his penlight and turned to look at Jiang Yuelou
“Open”
Jiang Yuelou nodded and opened his mouth, Chen Yuzhi gently grasping his face in his hand before he looked in his mouth and his eyes
“Your throat’s inflamed and your eyes are red…you definitely have a cold”
He then placed his penlight down before he reached out and gently placed the back of his hand to Jiang Yuelou’s forehead, humming softly
“And a slight fever”
Jiang Yuelou then sighed
“I’m sorry…I ruined our plans”
Chen Yuzhi tsked as he lowered his hand
“Don’t say that.  You didn’t do anything wrong”
He then smiled slightly
“We can always get tang yuan when you feel better”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Okay”
Chen Yuzhi then looked at him
“Why don’t you go lay down?  Sleep is good for helping you recover”
Jiang Yuelou laughed
“Doctor’s orders?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“Doctor’s orders”
Jiang Yuelou nodded before he pushed himself to his feet and headed towards his bedroom, Chen Yuzhi watching him leave before he looked down at Xiao Bai, who had padded over to him, and smiled
“Looks like it’s just you and me, Xiao Bai”
A few hours later, when Jiang Yuelou woke up from his nap, he found himself feeling much better than when he woke up that morning, causing him to hum softly before he slipped out of bed and headed into the living room, his eyes widening at the smell of something delicious wafting through his house
‘What—’
Just then, Chen Yuzhi came out of the kitchen, a warm pot of stew in his hands
“Oh, you’re awake!”
Jiang Yuelou blinked
“You’re…still here”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“Of course I am.  I wouldn’t just leave”
He then placed the pot down before he looked at Jiang Yuelou
“Figured you hadn’t eaten so…I made you something.  I hope that’s okay”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“No, it’s…it’s great.  Thank you”
He then tilted his head
“What about Keying?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“A neighbor’s watching her.  She wanted to come visit you, but I know you probably didn’t want to make her sick so I asked a neighbor to watch her”
Jiang Yuelou hummed
“I see”
Chen Yuzhi then motioned to the pot
“Shall we?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded before he walked over to the dining table and sat down, Chen Yuzhi sitting down across from him before they both began to eat, Jiang Yuelou humming softly in content
“This is really good, Yuzhi”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“Thank you.  It’s what I make whenever Keying isn’t feeling well…so I thought you might like it”
Jiang Yuelou smiled
“I do.  I really like it”
Chen Yuzhi blushed
“I’m glad”
They then went back to eating when Jiang Yuelou looked at Chen Yuzhi
“Yuzhi”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him
“Hmm?”
“New Years.  For New Years, we’ll go eat tang yuan.  Okay?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled and nodded
“Okay”
After they finished eating, Jiang Yuelou helped Chen Yuzhi clean up before Chen Yuzhi packed up his kit and headed to the door, Jiang Yuelou following after him
“Thank you, Yuzhi.  Really”
Chen Yuzhi turned to look at him before he smiled
“You looked after Keying when she wasn’t feeling good…the least I could do was return the favor”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled and nodded, Chen Yuzhi flashing him a small smile before he turned, about to leave when Jiang Yuelou reached out and grasped his wrist
“Chen Yuzhi”
Chen Yuzhi paused and turned to look at him
“Hmm?”
Jiang Yuelou didn’t say anything and instead just stared at him for a moment before he gave his wrist a tug and pulled him close, pressing a chaste kiss to his lips
As their lips touched, Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened and he let out a soft noise of surprise as Jiang Yuelou quickly pulled away, shaking his head
“Sorry.  Um…I don’t know what came over me.  Must…be the cold”
Chen Yuzhi blinked and shook his head
“No, I—”
Jiang Yuelou shook his head as he took a step back
“Sorry.  Can you…can you just go?”
Chen Yuzhi frowned
“Jiang Yuelou—”
Jiang Yuelou shook his head
“Please”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him before he nodded and turned, heading out of the house as Jiang Yuelou quietly shut the door behind him and groaned
God damn it
When Chen Yuzhi returned home, he thanked the neighbor for their time before he walked over to the couch and sat down, placing his head in his hands as Keying looked at him
“Gege?  Is everything okay?  Is gege okay?”
Chen Yuzhi lifted his head out of his hands and nodded
“Jiang Yuelou’s fine”
He then sighed
“But I don’t…think he’ll be coming over to eat with us anymore”
Keying frowned
“Why?  Did you two fight?”
Chen Yuzhi shook his head
“I wouldn’t call it a fight…”
Keying’s frown deepened
“Then why won’t he come over?”
Chen Yuzhi was quiet before he sighed
“He’s going to be busy with the New Year coming up…so he can’t eat with us”
Keying blinked before she nodded
“Oh, okay”
Chen Yuzhi smiled weakly and nodded before he sighed softly
He hated lying to Keying, but it was the only way to prevent her from having her heart broken
And it was just a little lie…no harm, no foul
Over the next few weeks, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi hardly saw each other, mainly because Jiang Yuelou did his best to change his patrol routes so that he didn’t bump into Chen Yuzhi on the way and made sure to either go home early or go home late so that he wouldn’t bump into him or Keying either
And it worked…for a while
Until it was finally New Year’s day and Jiang Yuelou was out on a last minute patrol
It was weird, being probably the only person out and about while everyone was at home with either their family or their lover, counting down to the new year
But apparently, he wasn’t the only one out and about because as he was patrolling, he noticed a familiar figure with a doctor’s bag walking towards him
“Chen Yuzhi?”
At his name, the figure looked up before their eyes widened
“Jiang Yuelou!”
They then walked towards each other until they were standing before each other, Jiang Yuelou shaking his head
“What are you doing out?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled weakly
“Last minute house call…what about you?”
“Last minute patrol”
Chen Yuzhi hummed as Jiang Yuelou dipped his head
“I’m sorry, I’m making you late.  Excuse me”
He then began to walk past him when Chen Yuzhi turned towards him
“I didn’t hate it, you know”
Jiang Yuelou paused and turned to look back at him
“Didn’t hate what?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled slightly
“The kiss”
Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widened as he nodded
“I was surprised, sure, but…I didn’t hate it”
Jiang Yuelou blinked before he sighed
“I’m sorry…I shouldn’t…I shouldn’t have done it without asking you”
Chen Yuzhi tilted his head
“Why did you?  Kiss me?”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him before he cleared his throat
“Because I like you”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him in shock
“You…like me?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“I do.  And then I went and did that and I…I was afraid that I had just ruined a friendship that I really liked.  So that’s why I told you to leave that day”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him before he smiled slightly and took a step towards him, looking him in the eyes
“Lovers can be friends too”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise
“You—”
Chen Yuzhi smiled
“I like you too, Jiang Yuelou”
Jiang Yuelou stared at him with wide eyes before he reached up and cupped his face in his hands
“Can I?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled slightly
“I thought you’d never ask”
Jiang Yuelou grinned before he leaned forward and captured Chen Yuzhi’s lips with his, Chen Yuzhi letting out a soft sigh as he practically melted into the kiss, just as church bells began to gong, making them pull away and look around with wide eyes before they looked at each other and smiled
“Happy New Year, Yuzhi”
“Happy New Year, Yuelou”
Jiang Yuelou then tilted his head
“Do you still want to get tang yuan?  Since we did promise?”
Chen Yuzhi blinked before he grinned
“Sure.  The three of us?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“The three of us”
Chen Yuzhi nodded
“Okay”
They both then flashed each other fond smiles before they turned and headed in the opposite directions; Chen Yuzhi towards his house call and Jiang Yuelou towards the rest of his patrol
Later that morning, when the sun was shining and people were actually up and about, Jiang Yuelou, Chen Yuzhi, and Keying were sitting at a tang yuan stall, enjoying the sweet treat, when Keying looked over at Jiang Yuelou
“Did you make any wishes for the New Year, gege?”
Jiang Yuelou hummed
“I didn’t…did you?”
Keying nodded vigorously
“I did!”
Chen Yuzhi tilted her head
“Oh yeah?  What did you wish for?”
Keying grinned
“For the three of us to do this again next year!”
Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi looked at her in surprise before they looked at each other and smiled softly, Jiang Yuelou reaching over to take Chen Yuzhi’s hand in his
“That sounds nice”
Chen Yuzhi nodded
“It does”
They then went back to eating their tang yuan, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi holding each other’s hand tightly as the sounds of the city went on around them
They both hoped that they would get to do this again next year
And the year after that
And all of the years that followed
Just the three of them
Together

In love with this random guy who had a lock slapped on his storage unit for not paying its rental and not only did he ignore management and took his stuff out without paying, but also chose to steal the lock itself and send it to the LockPickingLawyer along with a confession letter

I think we should write more straight relationships with 2010s TV queerbait tactics. Let that man and that woman's lives be horribly intertwined, let them take bullets for the other, let them be each other's meaning but NO KISSING. They are holding each other platonically. You're crazy for reading anything romantic into it at all tbh

There is some pretty shocking footage out there of the Baltimore bridge collapse early this morning. I've already seen some incredibly wrong, incredibly insensitive Hot Takes about how shitty the bridge was to have fallen after being bonked by a boat, etc
Please don't be that person.
The facts will come out. Speculation is silly. In addition to loss of life, the Francis Scott Key bridge was a major arterial in that region's highway system. Its loss will be felt for years, and not just to daily commuters.
Baltimore harbor is closed. No shipping at all. This will impact supply chains in ways we cannot even assess yet.
It's pretty fucked up.

Saw a post about helping people that used the analogy of "if you see someone fall off a cruiseship and theres a life preserver ring on the wall next to you do you walk away or do you throw them the life preserver? Of course you throw them the life preserver." And i dont want to add to or tag the post with any sort of correction because its literally not the point at all but i am desperate to say that the first thing they teach you when you work on a cruise ship is that if someone falls overboard you Do Not Look Away
If theres a life preserver nearby but you have to turn your back to get it, tough luck. If theres someone nearby who can't hear you but you could run and get them, absolutely not. You see someone go overboard you point at them and never ever let them out of your sight because looking away even once could mean losing them forever, so you just have to trust that someone will hear you scream for help but you cant for any reason look away
And maybe that adds to the life preserver metaphor somehow but mostly i just need you to know if you spot someone in the water you point at them and you watch them close and you scream for help

Hi! What about the au in which Chen Yuzhi was abducted instead of Keing? The girl was waiting for her brother from work and witnessed his abduction. Yuzhi resisted to the last, but he was damn tired and the kidnappers were able to drag him into the car. Keing is horrified and asks everyone to help her brother, but no one agreed. She runs down the road and collides with Jian Yuelou. Yuelou tries to find out what happened and calm her down. What is his surprise when he finds out who her brother is. So, Jian Yuelou has to find Yuzhi and take care of Keing. In captivity, Chen Yuzhi shows stubbornness and fights with his captors. Will Jian Yuelou be able to save him in time?
*gasps and tears up* Girl, you spoil me. I might just have to turn this into a fic I love it so much
It was a normal night as Chen Keying sat on her doorstep, waiting for her brother to come home from work
She always waited on the steps because sometimes her brother would surprise her with little gifts or trinkets that his patients would give him…and sometimes it was just nice to see a familiar face when you came home
As she sat there, waiting, she noticed her brother walking her way, causing her to grin and shoot to her feet
“Gege!”
Her older brother, Dr. Chen Yuzhi, smiled fondly as he made his way to her
“A-Ying”
As he continued towards her, a black car suddenly sped out of nowhere and stopped behind him, the back door opening before an arm reached out and grabbed him, trying to pull him into the car
“Gege!”
Chen Yuzhi resisted, of course, but whoever was in the car was stronger than him and yanked him into the car
The car then immediately sped off, Keying staring after it in shock before she shook herself out of it and took after it
“Gege!  Gege!”
She continued to run after the car, screaming for the driver to stop, but the car just kept going, leaving her in the dust
She stared after the car with wide eyes, her chest heaving, before tears began to stream down her face
“Gege”
She then began to cry, her shoulders shaking with every sob, and as she cried, she didn’t realize someone was coming up behind her until she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder
“Are you alright, little one?”
Keying turned and looked up to see a tall man with light skin, brown eyes, and short black hair looking back at her, concern in his eyes
At the sight of him, Keying let out a wail before she threw herself into his arms, the man blinking in surprise as his arms went around her
“Woah”
He then looked down at her before he gently began to stroke her hair
“It’s okay.  It’s okay, you’re okay”
Keying, however, just shook her head and continued to cry, causing the man to sigh softly before he looked at her
“Okay, sweetheart, come on.  Let’s get you inside”
He then gently pulled her away from him and took her hand, guiding her back to his house before he walked over to his couch and sat her down as he knelt before her
“Shh, shh.  It’s okay, just take a deep breath.  Just breathe, sweetheart, it’s okay”
He then reached out and gently wiped away Keying’s tears, gently hushing and soothing her until she calmed down and once she had calmed down (well, reduced her tears to sniffles), he looked at her
“Now, can you tell me what happened?”
Keying looked back at him before she sniffled
“My gege was kidnapped”
The man’s eyes widened
“Kidnapped?”
Keying nodded
“I watched them do it too!  I tried to stop them, I ran after them and told them to stop but they just kept—”
She then burst into tears again, causing the man’s eyes to widen before he reached out and gently wiped her eyes
“Okay, okay.  Okay, shh…shh, sweetheart.  Shh…can you tell me your brother’s name?”
Keying sniffled and wiped her eyes as she looked at him
“Dr. Chen Yuzhi”
The man looked at her in surprise; why would anyone want to kidnap a doctor?
“Mister—”
The man blinked before he looked at Keying, who sniffled
“Are you gonna help me get my brother back?”
The man blinked before he nodded
“As Chief of the Anti-Drug Brigade, I will do my best to help you get your brother back”
Keying looked at him in surprise
“You’re a police officer?”
The man smiled
“Chief Jiang Yuelou, at your service”
Just then, a white and grey ragdoll hopped up onto the couch and crawled into Keying’s lap, causing Keying to look at it in surprise
“Kitty!”
Jiang Yuelou smiled
“He likes you”
Keying smiled softly and gently began to stroke the ragdoll’s fur, humming softly
“I like him too.  He’s fluffy”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled before he looked at her
“Have you eaten?”
Keying shook her head
“No…I was waiting for gege to get home”
Jiang Yuelou hummed
“Well, let me make you something quick”
He then pushed himself to his feet and headed into the kitchen, whipping up something quick while Keying stayed on the couch, playing with the ragdoll
Jiang Yuelou then came back a little while later and held out a warm bowl of congee to Keying
“Here.  Something warm”
Keying looked up at him and nodded, taking the congee before she began to eat, Jiang Yuelou watching her to make sure she ate her fill
After she ate, Keying placed her bowl on the coffee table and dipped her head
“Thank you”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“You’re welcome”
Keying then removed the ragdoll from her lap and placed him on the couch beside her before she pushed herself to her feet
“I should go home…”
Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widened and he shook his head
“No, no, you’re staying here.  I’m not letting you sleep by yourself”
Keying looked at him and frowned
“But—”
Jiang Yuelou shook his head
“No buts.  Unless you want me and Xiao Bai to come over to your house and stay with you there”
Keying thought about it for a moment before she nodded
“Yes please”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Alright then”
He then reached out and picked up the ragdoll, Xiao Bai, holding him in one arm while he held out his hand to Keying
“Come on, let’s get you home”
Keying nodded and took his hand, both of them heading out of Jiang Yuelou’s house and over to Keying’s house, Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widening in surprise at how close her house was to his
They then stepped inside, Jiang Yuelou letting go of Keying’s hand
“Alright, go ahead and get ready for bed.  If you need anything, I’ll be out here”
Keying nodded and headed to her bedroom as Jiang Yuelou placed Xiao Bai down and looked around the house, noting the degrees up on the wall
‘An accomplished man’
After he had looked around, Jiang Yuelou walked over to the couch and sat down, Xiao Bai soon hopping up to join him
He then began to pet his ragdoll, just sitting in silence, when Keying came out of her bedroom, a nervous look on her face
“C-Chief Jiang?”
Jiang Yuelou looked over at her and raised an eyebrow
“Mm?”
Keying lowered her gaze
“Um…gege usually reads me a story.  I…do you think—”
Jiang Yuelou smiled softly before he pushed himself to his feet and walked over to her, placing a hand on her head
“Sure.  Come, let’s go”
Keying grinned and nodded, quickly heading to her bedroom as Jiang Yuelou followed behind
Once inside her bedroom, Jiang Yuelou walked over to the edge of her bed and sat down on it as she handed him a book
“This one, please”
Jiang Yuelou smiled and nodded, taking the book before he opened it and began to read Keying, Keying snuggling under her blanket
After reading for a while, Jiang Yuelou looked over to find Keying fast asleep, Xiao Bai curled up against her (he had no idea when the cat had entered the room, but it was a cute sight to see nonetheless)
As soon as she was asleep, Jiang Yuelou quietly stood up and placed the book down on the bedside table before he crept out of the room and closed the door behind him
He then headed to the living room and made himself comfortable on the couch, keeping his eyes on the door
He didn’t know if the same people who had kidnapped Keying’s brother would come back and try to kidnap her but if they did…they would be in for a rude awakening
Meanwhile, in a warehouse by the docks, Chen Yuzhi found himself bound and gagged with his kidnappers standing before him
“What are we going to do with him?  Sell him as a slave?  Use him as an organ donor?”
The other kidnapper shrugged
“I don’t know”
He then reached out and grabbed Chen Yuzhi’s face in his hand
“He’s pretty, that’s for sure…maybe someone will buy him”
While he continued to hold Chen Yuzhi’s face in his hand, Chen Yuzhi growled behind his gag before he wrenched his face out of his kidnapper’s grasp and glared at them
His kidnappers looked at him before they laughed
“Oh, he’s a feisty one…we’ll have to break that out of him before we can sell him”
At their insinuation, Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened, just as one of the kidnappers looked at the other
“But not tonight…it’s too late.  After we get off the boat tomorrow…then we’ll break him”
The second kidnapper nodded before they headed out of the warehouse and closed the door behind them, leaving Chen Yuzhi tied to a pipe, in the dark
The next morning, while Keying was still sleeping, Jiang Yuelou slipped back to his own house and got ready, showering and changing into new clothes before he headed back to her house and headed to the bedroom, quietly opening the door
“Keying?  It’s time to get up”
Keying let out a soft noise and slowly sat up, blinking at Jiang Yuelou before she nodded
“Okay”
Jiang Yuelou then tilted his head
“Do you have school or—”
Keying nodded again
“I have school”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Okay, you get ready for school, I’ll make breakfast”
Keying nodded again as Jiang Yuelou turned and headed to the kitchen to begin making breakfast
As soon as he finished, Keying stepped out in her uniform, Jiang Yuelou smiling slightly as he walked over and placed a plate of food before her
“Here”
Keying grinned
“Thank you”
Jiang Yuelou nodded and while she ate, he cleaned up, as he didn’t want to leave the house messier than he found it
After she had finished eating, Jiang Yuelou took her plate and quickly washed it before he looked at her
“Alright, grab your things, let’s go”
Keying nodded and quickly rushed to grab her backpack before she and Jiang Yuelou headed out of the house, Keying leading Jiang Yuelou to her school
“Alright, come to the police department when you’re done with school, understand?  I’m going to try and start a search on who might have taken your brother and where they might have taken him”
Keying nodded
“Thank you, ge-Chief Jiang”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled softly
“You can call me gege, if you want”
Keying looked up at him with wide eyes
“Really?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Mm”
Keying grinned as Jiang Yuelou smiled
“Now go.  You’ll be late”
Keying nodded and turned, rushing off to school as Jiang Yuelou turned and headed to the police department
At the police department, Jiang Yuelou headed to his office, just as his two subordinates, Song Rong and Sun Yongren, stepped inside
“Boss”
Jiang Yuelou looked at them and nodded
“Good, you’re here.  I need one of you to go ask around the docks and see if anyone noticed a Dr. Chen Yuzhi getting on a boat and I need the other to head to the train station and see if he got on a train.  Ask if he was alone or if he was with people”
Song Rong and Sun Yongren frowned
“Dr. Chen Yuzhi?  Why are we asking about some doctor?”
“Because his sister witnessed his kidnapping”
Song Rong and Sun Yongren looked at him in shock
“What?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“She witnessed his kidnapping, and I promised her I would help bring him back so start searching.  Go”
Song Rong and Sun Yongren nodded before they turned and headed out of the office to start their search for Chen Yuzhi while Jiang Yuelou stayed in the office and began to work on paperwork
A little while later, when school got out, Keying rushed to the police department and headed inside, looking around before she walked over to an officer
“Where’s Chief Jiang’s office?”
The officer blinked in surprise before they pointed to her left
“Down the hall, that way”
Keying dipped her head to them before she turned and headed down the hall, soon coming upon Jiang Yuelou’s office
She then knocked on the door before she stepped inside
“Gege”
At her voice, Jiang Yuelou lifted his head and when he saw her, he smiled
“Hey.  How was school?”
Keying nodded
“It was okay.  Did you find any leads on gege?”
Jiang Yuelou hummed as he pushed himself to his feet and walked over to her
“My men are working on it right now.  Why don’t you sit and have some tea?”
Keying nodded and walked over to the couches in his office, sitting down as he walked over and poured her a cup of tea, handing it to her
“Careful, it’s hot”
Keying nodded again and carefully took the cup, taking a sip just as Song Rong and Sun Yongren stepped into the office
“Boss”
Jiang Yuelou and Keying looked over at them before Jiang Yuelou frowned
“Anything?”
Song Rong shook his head
“Nothing at the docks”
Jiang Yuelou then looked at Sun Yongren
“What about you?”
Sun Yongren nodded
“Dr. Chen was seen getting on a train with two other men.  They purchased three tickets to Hong Kong”
Keying looked at him with wide eyes
“Was gege okay?!”
Sun Yongren and Song Rong looked over at her before they looked at Jiang Yuelou
“Who—”
“Dr. Chen’s little sister, Chen Keying”
Song Rong and Sun Yongren looked at Keying with wide eyes before they both dipped their heads, Sun Yongren clearing his throat
“Um…according to the ticket salesman, Dr. Chen seemed relatively unharmed…irritated, but unharmed.  Though, he swore he thought his wrists were bound, but he couldn’t tell from how the man watching him was standing”
Keying looked at him with wide eyes before she looked at Jiang Yuelou
“Gege…”
Jiang Yuelou looked back at her before he walked over and knelt before her
“Don’t worry Keying, we’ll bring your brother home”
Keying nodded
“I want to come with you”
Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widened and he quickly shook his head
“No.  No, you can’t come with me”
Keying pouted
“Why not?  I want to save gege too!”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“I know you do, but Hong Kong is a big place and you might get lost…besides, I’m sure your brother would want you to stay safe”
Keying pouted again before she nodded
“Okay…but you promise me you’re gonna bring gege back safely?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“Yes, I’m going to bring your brother home”
Song Rong then frowned
“But Boss…we don’t know what Dr. Chen looks like.  How can we find him?”
Jiang Yuelou hummed
“That’s a good point”
Keying brightened
“I have a picture!”
Jiang Yuelou, Song Rong, and Sun Yongren looked at her in surprise as she turned and reached into her backpack, pulling out a small wallet before she opened it and reached inside, pulling out a photo which she then handed to Jiang Yuelou
“Here”
Jiang Yuelou reached out and took the photo, looking at the serious young man before he hummed
“Alright.  I’ll keep an eye out for him”
He then took the photo and carefully stuck it in his wallet before he looked at Keying
“Now come on.  I’m going to drop you off at a friend’s house”
Keying tilted her head
“A friend?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded and held out his hand
“Mm.  Now come”
Keying nodded and took his hand, hopping out off the couch as they headed over to the door, Jiang Yuelou looking over at Song Rong and Sun Yongren
“Pack your bags.  We’re heading to Hong Kong”
Song Rong and Sun Yongren’s eyes widened before they nodded
“Yes sir”
Jiang Yuelou nodded before he and Keying headed out of the office and out of the police bureau
A little while later, Jiang Yuelou and Keying arrived at a large mansion, Keying looking up at it with wide eyes
“Woah”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled before he knocked on the door, the door soon opening to reveal an older man
“Chief Jiang”
“Qiu Ming.  Is he in?”
The servant, Qiu Ming, nodded before he motioned them inside
“Please”
Jiang Yuelou dipped his head before he and Keying stepped inside, Keying looking around with wide eyes
“Wow…your friend is super rich, gege”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled
“He is, isn’t he?”
“Who’s rich?”
Jiang Yuelou and Keying looked over to see a tall man with light skin, brown eyes, and short black hair dressed in a maroon suit walking down from the second floor
“Zhan-xiong”
The tall man, Zhan Junbai, smiled
“Jiang-xiong.  What brings you here?”
Jiang Yuelou motioned to Keying
“Would you be willing to watch her for a few days?  I have to go on a mission”
Zhan Junbai raised an eyebrow at Keying in surprise before he smiled and walked over to them, kneeling before her
“Hello there.  What’s your name?”
Keying blushed
“Chen Keying”
Zhan Junbai smiled slightly
“Hello Keying.  How do you know Jiang-xiong?”
Keying grinned
“He’s gonna save my gege!”
Zhan Junbai raised an eyebrow before he looked up at Jiang Yuelou, who hummed
“I’ll explain in a moment”
Zhan Junbai nodded slowly before he looked at Keying and smiled
“Are you hungry?  Why don’t you go with Qiu Ming and get something to eat in the kitchen”
Keying nodded as Zhan Junbai looked up
“Qiu Ming!”
Qiu Ming soon arrived and Zhan Junbai motioned to Keying
“Please take Miss Chen to the kitchen and get her something to eat”
Qiu Ming nodded and motioned for Keying to follow him to the kitchen, Keying glancing up at Jiang Yuelou, who nodded in reply
“Go on”
Keying nodded and let go of his hand, following Qiu Ming to the kitchen as Zhan Junbai looked at him
“What is she talking about?”
Jiang Yuelou sighed
“She witnessed her brother being kidnapped the other night…and I promised to get him back.  We got a lead that someone saw him getting on a train with two other men to Hong Kong, so we’re heading there”
Zhan Junbai frowned
“You think they’re going to traffic him?”
Jiang Yuelou sighed heavily
“I’m hoping and praying they don’t because I don’t know what I’m going to tell that kid if they do”
Zhan Junbai looked at him before he smiled and patted his arm
“You’ll find him.  Knowing you, you bloodhound, once you catch a scent, you never stop following it until you finally have your prey”
Jiang Yuelou laughed
“Yeesh, what a compliment”
Zhan Junbai chuckled
“It’s true though”
Jiang Yuelou hummed before he looked at him
“So?  Can you watch her?”
Zhan Junbai nodded
“I’ll watch her for you”
Jiang Yuelou dipped his head
“Thank you”
He then turned and headed out of the mansion, Zhan Junbai watching him leave before he turned and headed into the kitchen so that he could get acquainted with his new charge
Meanwhile, Jiang Yuelou quickly headed to the train station to find Song Rong and Sun Yongren waiting for him
“Did you get the tickets?”
Song Rong nodded and handed him one
“Yes sir”
Jiang Yuelou nodded before he motioned to the train
“Alright, let’s go”
When they arrived in Hong Kong, Song Rong sighed
“How are we going to find him?  This place is so much bigger than Jing City…we don’t even know if he’s still here…”
Jiang Yuelou shook his head
“He has to still be here.  I promised Keying I would bring him home and I’m not breaking that promise”
Song Rong and Sun Yongren looked at him before they nodded
“Yes sir”
They then began to walk around the city, searching for any sign of Chen Yuzhi and his kidnappers, but like Song Rong said, Hong Kong was so much bigger than Jing City…they were going to have a hard time
Meanwhile, in a hotel room, the two kidnappers were meeting with a potential client while Chen Yuzhi sat on the bed, his wrist bound in front of him
As he sat there, silently plotting how he was going to get away, the client walked over to him and smiled
“You’re mine now”
Chen Yuzhi looked at them calmly
“Are we staying here or are we going somewhere else?”
The client chuckled
“Of course we’re going somewhere else.  I’m not taking your first time in this shitty hotel”
Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened before he lowered his gaze, the client chuckling at his “demureness” before he walked over to him and grabbed him by the arm
“Come.  Let’s go”
He then helped Chen Yuzhi off the bed before he led him out of the room, both of them heading downstairs but before they left, Chen Yuzhi looked over at them
“You should untie me.  It’ll look suspicious if we’re walking around and my wrists are bound”
The client hummed
“You’re right”
He then reached out and untied Chen Yuzhi’s wrist, Chen Yuzhi immediately striking him in his meridian point in his neck, watching as he collapsed to the ground, unconscious
“Idiot”
He then turned and rushed out of the hotel, beginning to run through the streets of Hong Kong, when he slammed into someone, causing him to stumble and fall on his ass
“Ow”
“Are you okay?”
Chen Yuzhi looked up to see Jiang Yuelou looking at him in concern and he nodded
“I’m fine”
Jiang Yuelou then held out his hand
“Sorry”
Chen Yuzhi shook his head
“Don’t worry about it”
He then reached out and took Jiang Yuelou’s hand, Jiang Yuelou helping him to his feet before he looked at him
“Dr…Chen Yuzhi?”
Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened and he frowned
“Who are you?  How do you know me?”
Jiang Yuelou smiled and reached into his pocket, pulling out his badge
“Chief Jiang Yuelou of the Anti-Drug Brigade.  Your sister Keying asked me to save you”
Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened
“Keying.  Is she alright?”
Jiang Yuelou nodded
“She’s fine; she’s currently staying with a friend of mine while we came here searching for you”
Chen Yuzhi stared at him in shock before he nodded and let out a shuddering breath
“O-Oh”
“HEY!”
Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi turned, Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widening when he saw his kidnappers running towards them
“We need to go.  We need to go now”
Jiang Yuelou frowned
“Why?”
Chen Yuzhi shook his head
“We just need to go, now, please”
Jiang Yuelou’s frown deepened, just as the two men ran over and stopped before them
“Give him back”
Jiang Yuelou narrowed his eyes
“Who are you two?”
The kidnappers huffed
“What does it matter to you?  Give him back”
One of the kidnappers then reached for Chen Yuzhi, only for Jiang Yuelou to pull him close and away from him
“Not until I know who you are”
The kidnappers growled
“You—”
Just then, Song Rong and Sun Yongren rushed over to them, both men looking at Jiang Yuelou
“Boss”
The kidnappers looked at them with wide eyes
“Boss?”
Jiang Yuelou then looked at them and smirked
“Arrest them”
Sun Yongren and Song Rong blinked but did what they were told, quickly arresting the two men
“Hey, hey, you can’t do this!”
Jiang Yuelou pulled out his badge and showed it to them
“Police.  You’re under arrest for human trafficking”
The kidnappers’ eyes widened as Jiang Yuelou looked at Song Rong and Sun Yongren
“Take them to the police station”
Song Rong and Sun Yongren nodded and quickly dragged the men away as Jiang Yuelou looked at Chen Yuzhi
“Are you alright?”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him before he let out a shuddering breath
“There’s another man…back at the hotel.  He…he bought me”
Jiang Yuelou’s eyes widened before he growled
“Take me to this hotel”
Chen Yuzhi nodded and slipped out of Jiang Yuelou’s protective grasp before he began to head back to the hotel, Jiang Yuelou on his heels
When they arrived, the man Chen Yuzhi knocked unconscious was still out cold, which Chen Yuzhi was grateful for as he pointed to him
“Him.  He’s the one who bought me”
Jiang Yuelou looked down at the man and growled before he reached down and yanked him to his feet, rather grateful that the lobby of the hotel was empty, before he looked over at Chen Yuzhi
“Let’s head to the police station as well.  You can give your statement to the officers there”
Chen Yuzhi nodded and followed Jiang Yuelou out of the hotel, the three of them heading to the police station
At the police station, Jiang Yuelou, Song Rong, and Sun Yongren presented the kidnappers and the client to the officers before Chen Yuzhi recounted his story, the police officers humming
“Alright, Dr. Chen, we’ll just take your statement really quickly and then you’ll be free to go”
Chen Yuzhi nodded and followed one of the officers to a private room to give his statement as Jiang Yuelou stepped forward
“Can you check the client to see if there’s some sort of paper contract on him?”
One of the officers blinked before they nodded, quickly searching the man before he pulled out a piece of paper and opened it, reading it over before he handed it to Jiang Yuelou
“Here sir”
Jiang Yuelou took it and read it through before he hummed
“Anyone got a light?”
One of the officer then pulled out a lighter, Jiang Yuelou reaching out to take it before he flicked it open and flicked on the fire, holding the contract over the flame
He then walked over to a nearby ashtray and held the contract over it, watching as it turned to ash before he handed the lighter back to the officer
“Thank you”
The officer nodded, just as Chen Yuzhi came out of the room and walked over to them
“Are you done?”
Chen Yuzhi nodded, causing Jiang Yuelou to nod in return
“Alright, let’s get you home”
After leaving the police station, Jiang Yuelou, Chen Yuzhi, Song Rong, and Sun Yongren headed to the train depot, Jiang Yuelou buying four tickets on the return trip home
When it was time to depart, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi got into one compartment and Song Rong and Sun Yongren got into another compartment so that Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi could talk privately
Once they were alone, Jiang Yuelou reached out and gently took Chen Yuzhi’s rope burned wrist in his hands
“Does it hurt?”
Chen Yuzhi hummed
“A little…but I’ll be okay once they heal”
Jiang Yuelou hummed and gently rubbed a thumb over the rope burns as Chen Yuzhi looked at him
“Um…thank you”
Jiang Yuelou raised an eyebrow
“For what?”
Chen Yuzhi blushed
“For coming to save me”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled
“You saved yourself…I just put them away”
Chen Yuzhi huffed
“Still…thank you”
Jiang Yuelou smiled and dipped his head
“You’re welcome”
Chen Yuzhi then tilted his head
“So…Keying sent you?”
Jiang Yuelou hummed
“Yes…she asked me to bring you home safely…and that’s what I intend to do”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him with wide eyes before he lowered his gaze, a soft blush on his cheeks
He then sighed heavily
“I can’t wait to see her…”
Jiang Yuelou smiled and gave his hand a gentle squeeze
“And I’m sure she can’t wait to see you”
Chen Yuzhi lifted his gaze and looked him in the eyes as he smiled
“It’s going to be a long journey back.  You should get some rest”
Chen Yuzhi blinked before he nodded, slipping his hand out of Jiang Yuelou’s before he laid down on the bench, almost immediately falling asleep
As he slept, Jiang Yuelou watched him for a moment before he shifted so his legs were stretched out on the bench before he leaned his head back and shut his eyes, beginning to whistle softly
When they returned to Jing City, Song Rong and Sun Yongren headed to the police station while Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi headed to Zhan Junbai’s mansion, both men stepping inside
“Keying!  We’re back!”
Just then, Keying came running into the room from the dining room, where she and Zhan Junbai were having snacks, and when she saw Chen Yuzhi standing beside Jiang Yuelou, her eyes widened before she gasped
“GEGE!”
She then ran over to him and threw her arms around him, Chen Yuzhi blinking back tears before he knelt down and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tightly
“Oh Keying.  Oh, A-Ying.  I’m so sorry.  I’m so sorry”
Keying sniffled and shook her head
“It’s okay, gege.  It’s okay”
She then pulled away and looked up at Jiang Yuelou, who was looking down at them fondly
“Thank you gege”
Jiang Yuelou smiled
“You’re welcome”
He then motioned with his head towards the door
“Come on, let’s go get something to eat.  I’m sure your brother’s starving”
Keying nodded and took Chen Yuzhi’s hand, Chen Yuzhi smiling softly as he pushed himself to his feet
They then began to head out of the mansion as Jiang Yuelou stayed behind and walked over to Zhan Junbai, who had stepped out of the dining room to see the reunion between the siblings
“Thanks, Zhan-xiong”
Zhan Junbai smiled
“Anytime.  Anything for a friend.  And tell Miss Keying she’s welcome over here any time”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled
“Will do”
He then turned and walked over to Chen Yuzhi and Keying, who were waiting for him, before they all headed out of the mansion together
Later, the three of them sat at the wonton stand, enjoying dinner when Jiang Yuelou looked at Chen Yuzhi
“Let me take a look at your wrists for you”
Chen Yuzhi looked at him in surprise before he shook his head
“Oh, there’s no need for that…I’m a doctor, I can do it—”
“Yuzhi”
Chen Yuzhi’s eyes widened at his tone before he nodded
“Alright”
Jiang Yuelou smiled and nodded as he went back to his dinner
After dinner, the three of them headed to Chen Yuzhi’s house, Keying heading to her bedroom to play with Xiao Bai while Chen Yuzhi and Jiang Yuelou sat in Chen Yuzhi’s living room, the supplies before them on the coffee table
“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?”
Jiang Yuelou huffed
“Don’t underestimate me, Dr. Chen”
He then carefully cleaned his wrist before he applied the medicine and bandages, carefully wrapping his wrist tightly but not too tight that it restricted movement and blood flow
Once his wrists were nicely bound, Jiang Yuelou smiled and looked at him
“Well?  What do you think?  Not bad, huh?”
Chen Yuzhi looked at his bandaged wrist and hummed
“No…not bad at all”
He then looked at him and smiled slightly
“Thank you”
Jiang Yuelou nodded, just as Keying came out and looked at them
“Gege.  Can you read me a story?”
Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi looked at her
“Sure”
Both men then looked at each other before Jiang Yuelou blushed and cleared his throat
“Excuse me, I should probably go.  Good night, Keying.  Dr. Chen”
He then pushed himself to his feet and headed out of the house, Chen Yuzhi and Keying watching him leave before Chen Yuzhi looked at Keying and placed a hand on her head
“Come on, sweetheart, let’s go read you your story”
The next day, around noon, as Jiang Yuelou was working on his paperwork, there was a knock on his door, making him look up
“Come in”
Chen Yuzhi then stepped into the office, causing Jiang Yuelou to look at him in surprise
“Dr. Chen.  What are you doing here?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled slightly
“I…I wanted to properly thank you.  For saving me.  So I was wondering…if you’d maybe like to get lunch?”
Jiang Yuelou looked at him for a moment before he smiled and pushed himself to his feet
“As it so happens, it is time for my lunch break so…sure.  I’ll take you up on that offer”
He then walked over to him and motioned to the door
“Shall we go?”
Chen Yuzhi smiled and nodded, heading out of the door as Jiang Yuelou followed behind
As they headed to lunch, Chen Yuzhi looked over at Jiang Yuelou
“Thank you for also looking after Keying.  She told me everything”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled
“Not a problem.  Couldn’t just leave her to fend for herself, you know?”
Chen Yuzhi hummed
“Still…thank you”
Jiang Yuelou smiled
“You can stop thanking me…I was just doing my job”
Chen Yuzhi huffed
“I know…but I just feel the need to thank you”
Jiang Yuelou chuckled
“Then you can thank me by paying for lunch.  How about that?”
Chen Yuzhi laughed and nodded
“Deal”

"dont die" is my favorite thing to tell people when they say theyre gonna go do something. going to the store? dont die. going to the bathroom? don't die. going to Mars? don't die. going to write an email? don't die. driving to the gas station? don't die. it fits every situation except for maybe a funeral visitation because then i think thatd be a little bit rude
