Headcanon:
Archie crushing on Malachai's younger brother
Tumblr media
Request: Yes or No
Archie had tagged along as backup with Jug when he went to meet Malachai for a treaty
There, he saw you
An attractive guy
When Malachai noticed Archie staring...
He didn't seem happy
He nudged you towards the car
Archie blinked
Malachai was too old to be your boyfriend but too young to be your father
"Hey, Cheryl, who's that?" Archie asked the redhead.
"That's Hobgoblin's brother." She replied, arms crossed.
Archie shifted his attention back to you
You stood a bit behind Malachai
Malachai was clearly protective of you
Archie didn't want to get on his bad side again
You glanced at Archie every so often
He just...
Didn't fit in
He looked like a baby rabbit among wolves
You often visited the Northside cause of Pop's
You apologized to him about all the destruction your older brother caused
You never had a father figure so having Pop's around helped
Northsiders who saw your jacket stayed away and Serpents often confronted you
One boy did neither
Archie Andrews
He chatted with you whenever he saw you
You two eventually became good friends
Until one day
"So, this chick, Vanessa?"
"Veronica."
"Right, Veronica." You laughed, taking another swing of your beer. Archie smiled widely, watching you. It was one of those days where you two had snuck out to meet up at Sweetwater River.
"She drags this poor girl, Betty?"
"Mhm."
"Into the boys lockerroom and doesn't get in trouble?" Archie nodded. You scoffed.
"Wow. Rich kids get away with everything." You mumbled. Archie put his can down, facing you. You turned your head, looking at him as the sound of crickets and rushing water filled the air. You smiled softly, putting your can down as well.
"We should probably head home." You said softly as the both of you slowly leaned in.
"Yeah.." Archie nodded, continuing to lean in. You pressed your lips against his, hands cupping his face. Archie kissed you back, being as gentle as always. You easily pushed him back onto the grass and things escalated.
You got an earful when you got home at 5 am considering you had snuck out at 1 am Mal had every reason to be annoyed and concerned
You didn't give a straight answer but the hickies gave you very much away
Malachai didn't care who you fucked as long as you used protection but he didn't like not knowing where you were
When you sighed and said Sweetwater River, he narrowed his eyes
"Who?"
"Who what?"
"Who was with you?"
"Nobody?"
"You fucked the air then?"
You snorted, shaking your head.
"Someone."
"I'm asking for a name, (N/N)."
"He's not a.." You remembered the Serpent tattoo Archie had and swallowed.
"You fucked a Serpent?!"
"As if you haven't before! Plus he's not a full Serpent!"
Malachai groaned.
"Are you fucking serious?"
"I'm going to bed." You quickly went to your room before Malachai could open his mouth again.
You knew Mal was gonna keep a close eye on you
You still went to Pop's and told him about your.. Issue at the moment
He assured you he would tell Archie that you weren't avoiding him on purpose
It took two weeks before Mal gave up
You went to Pop's, getting an order that one of your friends had called in. Pop motioned over to a booth with his head and you glanced over.
Seeing Archie and some chick. Laughing and talking.
It seemed like his ex too.
Funny
You usually played people like that
Karma had her ways
"I don't care." You assured Pops. He hummed.
"Right."
"(Y/N)?" You turned around, looking at Jughead.
"Hey, dude." You greeted. Jughead had been loud enough to get Archie and the girls attention.
"I didn't know you came here."
"Had to make up for what Mal did." You shrugged, taking the to-go bag from Pop.
"See you around." You winked, walking out without looking at Archie.
Your nerves spiked up when you heard rapid footsteps behind you. You opened the car door but someone grabbed your arm.
"(Y/N)-"
"Andrews! I didn't see you in there, how ya been?" You asked, putting the bag safely inside and looking at him. Archie frowned when he heard his last name.
"I should get going."
"Is Malachai still mad?"
"He got over it like a day ago." You chuckled, playing it cool and unbothered. Archie smiled.
"Can we hang again? And maybe talk about-"
"Archiekins?" The chick from before called out.
"Archiekins?" You repeated, a laugh leaving you. He said he hated that name yet she still called him that. Funny.
"Veronica, not now."
"Oh?" You laughed again, jaw clenching. Not only was he allowing his ex to call him that, he also was dating the entitled rich girl. So funny.
"You're funny, Andrews, you really are." You patted his chest with a smile.
"What's going on?" Veronica asked, brows furrowed.
"I- Just give me a moment, okay?" Archie glanced at her before looking back at you.
"(Y/N), I can explain."
"You don't need to, Andrews, I get it. If I were you, I wouldn't wanna be seen with a delinquent in a gang either."
"What? No, that's not it!" Archie grabbed your hips, trying to keep you in place so he could explain.
"Me and Veronica are strictly friends, okay?"
"Don't look like it." You glanced at the girl who's eyes watered. She quickly went back inside. Archie sighed.
"I get being friends with your ex.. But only if you both know that you're just friends." You pushed him back with ease and got into your car, driving away.
Archie knew he needed to fix things

Sorry, I was hoping for a written breakdown? If you have the time of course
sorry for the delay! it’s under the cut ;)
graduation epi:
starts with jug narrating about how riverdale got super dark and reached even his sister. this prompts fp to decide to leave town with jellybean. jughead and betty talk about how the new generation might not survive the town’s darkness. alice cries because she wanted to have a family and now she’ll be alone, betty says she won’t.
on the last day of high school, archie has a dream with his dad (flashback to the graduation dream of 2x01) and it’s sad. cheryl looks at the mirror as she gets ready and looks at her picture with jason. she nearly cries and pins the spider brooch on her lapel. at the pembrooke, hiram gives veronica’s pearls and she’s about to put them on when she remembers that she once stood by him and how that went, so she doesn’t put them on.
cheryl opens the time capsule buried 45 years ago where there’s a picture of boys going to The War (this will be funny eventually) and there are recruiters at school, planting a seed on archie’s mind.
the seniors gather in the student lounge to look at yearbooks. archie and jughead are called to the principal’s office. jughead finds out he’ll graduate and is super happy; archie, on the other hand, finds out he won’t. however, he lies to jug when jughead asks, and says he’ll do summer school (adorable jarchie scene btw. jarchie were adorable this episode). weatherbee still allows archie to walk with everyone at graduation and to record the graduation song.
then, it’s their last class, and everyone’s counting the minutes. they celebrate. beronica hug, kangs kiss, sweet pea and reggie hug, choni are adorable, bughead kiss, and varchie look at each other longingly in a scene written for me - they’re just about to hug, you feel the pining, but then... reggie pulls archie into a hug lol. leaving the classroom, archie takes a look at the picture of the boys that went to war, and veronica catches him looking at it.
at home, betty is trying to write her valedictorian speech while she watches jug and jelly play a game.
veronica shows up at archie’s door with a box full of his things. she says it’s crazy, but she wants to be with him one more night, if only for the last time. archie says she’s not crazy because it’s all he wants too. she drops the box to the ground and they share a passionate kiss going inside his house. he kicks the door with his foot lol.
the next morning, they’re cuddling in his bed and she mentions that she saw him looking at the war picture. archie confesses wondering what was going through their minds. she asks if he’s getting crazy ideas, but he lies to her too, saying he’s just going to summer school.
graduation day. jughead and fp have a talk - he wants to go to toledo with him, but fp says that no, he’s going to college, and that he’s old enough to be on his own (sad scene). toni shows the school to her grandma, and talks about college. cheryl wants to talk to toni and her grandma but decides not to when she overhears her grandma saying that everyone is really proud of her and that she honored their family name.
in a sad moment, archie watches his friends with their parents and is clearly very nostalgic of fred, when mary arrives. betty makes her speech about how she wants the town to go back to innocence. overlay of archie playing ‘good riddance (time of your life) - green day’ and the kids graduating. (shoutout for my beggie crumb when he gets his diploma). but when it’s archie’s turn to get his diploma, the cover is empty. he sees the four men in the picture that went to war (it’s riverdale) and decides to enlist to the army (oh archiekins).
outside, penelope meets cheryl and says she watched the ceremony, but that she’ll turn herself in and spend some time in hiram’s prison (lol) and cheryl says she won’t be going to college. fp and jellybean say goodbye to jughead and falice have their final (?) goodbye. skeet looks good in his aviators. the serpents from toledo (?) all drive away.
the next day, veronica goes to pop’s and gives the ownership back to him. she says that she never thought riverdale would be her home but then when she arrived she walked into the diner and then it felt like home (me: sobbing). the kids bury their stuff in the time capsule. the most iconic item buried is jughead’s beanie (rip).
the core four sits at the bleachers drinking beers when archie wants them to make a vow for meeting every year at pop’s the same day. they all agree with it. then, he announces he’s enlisted to the army. betty says ok, jughead is shook, veronica pops off and says she can’t support it. she leaves, he tries to go after her, she reminds him that ther’s A War going on and that he’s crazy. betty goes after her when she leaves.
cheryl breaks up with toni saying that she wants to rebuild the family name and that she won’t be going to college. it’s a sweet scene. later on the epi, she tells the same to nana rose as she walks into the thornhill gates.
when betty is back home, jughead wonders wtf is happening to varchie. betty realizes that sighs, she has to tell him the truth, so she tells him about the kiss. jughead shuts down. she tries to kiss him, he doesn’t kiss back, she insists until he does and they have sex. the next morning, he asks if they can talk about them, and betty says yes. he’s going to take archie to the bus stop and she says she’ll go see veronica.
in the bus stop, archie is about to confess about the kiss when jughead says he knows and that it’ll always be okay between them.
betty apologizes to veronica but ronnie doesn’t want to hear it, she’s too upset about archie leaving and everything ending without her being able to say goodbye. betty says she’ll take her to him.
then... the most iconic scene ever aired, veronica and betty arrived with the jalopy in the bus stop, they get jughead and they go after archie’s bus. in the bus, archie is thinking about his life and has flashbacks of some important moments with veronica, jughead, fred, and the core 4 (and none for betty lol). that’s when the jalopy honks and he looks out the window, and veronica is shouting that she loves him. he runs and asks the bus driver to stop for his friends and his girl. varchie hug, she tells him to stay safe, he says i love you, and she says i love you. he also hugs jughead in an adorable 1x02 homage, and also betty in a sweet scene.
archie takes veronica’s hand and they walk together to the bus. they exchange a look and he walks into the bus. as the bus drives away, he runs to the back of the bus to look at them one more time, veronica front and center crying.
jughead narrates that veronica leaves riverdale super fast. then, he also narrates how he and betty never talked about the kiss. slowy, it shows that they grow apart while side by side, until she says she’ll leave to yale earlier and asks what will happen to them. they say they’ll always love each other, but jughead says they should focus on college for the time being. she leaves and they hug softly. jughead moves out from the cooper’s to archie’s empty house, and then to the bunker. then, he leaves to iowa.
one year later, he comes back to pop’s wondering if his friends would keep the promise, but no one shows up. when he’s about to leave, the bell rings, he looks and a couple that looks like betty and archie or polly and jason or alice and hal (tropes, tropes) walks in. he says that it’d be six years until he saw everyone again.
it’s an incredible episode. maybe the best since season one, no joke.
hope this helps you 💖

study break
pairings: archie/veronica
rating: E
words: 300+
AN: i wrote a short drabble to try and clear the block that i am currently facing with trails and tribulations, and i like the way that it turned out. it’s rough and unbeta’d, but i think it’s cute.
_______________________________________________________________________
Veronica lets out another heavy sigh. She's been staring at the blinking cursor on her laptop, waiting for the words to come to her. At first, this term paper seemed like it was writing itself, but when she got to the top of the eighth page, her thoughts came to a screeching halt.
She's not sure what caused this sudden block, but she desperately wishes that it would disappear. There's no way that she'll meet the deadline if she doesn't complete two pages per day in between study sessions. Normally, she wouldn't be so stressed about a paper, but the professor said that it's worth 40 percent of their overall grade, and she's not gonna let one paper ruin her GPA.
She hears a knock, and when she looks up, Archie is standing at the entrance to the hallway, looking at her with a goofy grin on his face.
"Ronnie, maybe you should take a break," he says, pushing himself off the wall and walking toward the dining room table where she's with her laptop.
"I wish I could, Archiekins," she says, blowing out a breath as she takes her glasses off, resting them on the table. "but this paper is worth almost half my grade, and I didn't do too well on the last test."
"I wouldn't say an 87 is not doing 'too well,'" Archie says, doing air quotes around too well with an amused expression on his face. "You're the smartest person I know, I'm sure you can afford a ten-minute break."
"Archie, I can't," she says softly.
"You can," he says, kissing the top of her head, "and you will."
She relents, closing her laptop as he gently pulls her out of her chair and into a soft kiss.
"I'll pop some popcorn, and you put on one of those confusing French films you love so much," he says, walking towards the kitchen.
They settle into the couch, and halfway through the film's climax, she hears a soft snore coming from her right. When she looks over at her boyfriend, his head is lulled backwards and his eyes are shut. A small smile forms on her lips, and the stress of finals doesn't seem so pressing to her anymore.

The new girl sweet pea - part 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next morning
As you walked downstairs smelling some pancakes you smiled softly and headed into the kitchen seeing Archie making some pancakes. “MOMMY!,” Devitt squeals running up to you as you smiled picking him up kissing his cheek. “Goodmorng bubs.” You smiled holding him as you sit down on the chair putting Devitt on your lap.
“Good morning Arch, I’m sorry for coming hom..” As Archie chuckles “Y/n it’s alright you haven’t been on a date in a while you deserved it, plus is it alright with you if Jug, Ronnie, and Betty come by for breakfast?” Arch asked setting the last couple of pancakes down on the table. “Oh, that’s totally fine with me.” you smiled ruffling Devitt’s hair. “So, If you don’t mind me asking how did the date with Sweet pea go?” Archie asked as I blushed.
“It was amazing, I told him what happened between Devitt’s father and I and the real reason why I moved to Riverdale and that he can’t wait to have a second date with me.” You smiled as Devitt plays with my fingers and smiles. “You never told us about the real reason why you moved to Riverdale,” Archie said sitting down.
Hours later
“So that’s is the reason why you moved here, is to protect your son,” Ronnie said as you nodded at her. “So Y/n does he like dipping his fries in milkshakes like you and me?” Jughead asked as you shrugged. “I’m not sure, I never really tried if I’m being honest with you,” You answered as Jughead picks him up and holds him “Hey buddy what’s your name?” Jughead asked looking at Devitt as Devitt smiles. “I’m Devitt, I’m 3″ he responds and points at his beanie. “Devitt, it’s not nic..” “It’s fine Yn, you like my beanie.” Jug cooed at Devitt as he smiles and nods while Jughead takes off his beanie and puts it on his head and Devitt gasped looking at you. “Oh my lord you look like your father,” I said as Deviit claps his hands.
“So, what is the plan for today?” Betty asked smiling holding Devitt as Devitt plays with her fingers. “We can go to sweet water rivers and go swimming and then we can go to pops and eat and then have a movie night,” Ronnie suggested. “Oh, that sounds amazing, bubs do you wanna go swimming?” I asked as Devitt nods. “Sweet swimming it is,” Archie responded taking Ronnie’s hand.
- at the river-
“JUGHEAD!, careful he..” “It’s fine Y/n I got him don’t worry plus, Betty knows when enough is enough,” Jughead responded holding onto Devitt as he splashes the water. “Alright Jones she’s just worried about him she doesn’t really go out much give her a break!” Pea shouts as you look up at him. “Pea? what are you doing here?” you asked smiling as he smiles back. “Hey, beautiful and Ronnie invited me so you wouldn’t be alone.” He responded smiling as you looked at Veronica as she winks at you then jumping into the water followed by Archie and Betty.
“Thank you for coming, after this, we are going to pops after this and from pops back to Archies place to watch some movies if you would like to come,” you smiled up at him watching Jughead and the gang play with Devitt in the water. “Of course especially if I get to spend more time with you and Devitt.” Pea smiled wrapping his arm around your waist and pulls you closer as you smiled kisses his cheek “you are so cute Pea you know that.” you smiled as he leans in to kiss you as you kissed back but pulled away quickly when you hear Devitt scream in pain as you got up and up to Jughead and takes Devitt. “what happened?!” you asked worriedly checking Devitt to make sure he has no cuts or bruises as Pea runs up behind you and checks Devitt also.
“Y/n relax he just hit his head against the ro..” Arche tried to explain as you glared at him.” RELAX, Arch you should never tell a mo..” “babe shh it’s okay breathe, look he has a small cut on his temple.” Sweet pea responded and went to his bike to get some bandaids and something to clean it I sighed. “Sorry, mother instincts .” you sighed holding Devitt as he sucks his thumb. “it’s fine Y/n I’d be the same way if this was my son or daughter.” Arch responded, “were going to have fun for a bit longer then we will head out to pops if that’s fine with you Y/n.” Ronnie asked as I nodded.
“Yeah, go have some fun I’ll have Devitt with Pea and me.” You answered walking back to the towel you were sitting on and set Devitt on your lap as he cuddles into you as Archie, Jug, Betty, and Ronnie jumped back into the water. as Pea sat down next to you and handed you the bandaid as you shake your head “Thanks Pea but he doesn’t need it it’s a small cut it will heal.” You smiled softly as he nods.
“Y/n, can I hold Devitt? it’s okay if you say no.” pea asked as you looked at Devitt giving him the look if it’s okay with him as he nods softly reaching for pea as you handed Devitt to Pea.  “Do you see Pea as a good father figure for Devitt Juggie?” Betty asked glancing at Jughead then back at you, Sweet pea and Devitt as Jughead chuckles. “I believe he will I see the way Sweet pea face lights up when Y/n and Devitt are mentioned around him.” Jug smiled taking Betty’s hand and spinning her around.
“He likes you.” You smiled as Devitt plays with Pea’s hair as Pea smiles. “You think so?” Pea asked as you noded. “Mommy?” Devitt said looking at you as you looked at him softly. “Yes, bubs?” you smiled at him. “Is he going to be with us forever, and be my new daddy?” He asked as Sweet Pea's eyes widen at the Daddy part. “That’s up for him to decided maybe if you ask him he’ll give you an answer but I’d love for him to stay.” you smiled as Devitt turned around looking at Sweet Pea. “will you please stay and be my new Daddy, you promised you won’t hurt my mommy,” Devitt said as Pea smiled. “I did promise that didn’t I bubs,” he said as Devitt nods. “Of course, I’ll be your dad will mommy let me move in is the questioned” Pea responded as Devitt gave you the puppy eyes. “oh how can I say no to that face,” you thought as you thought about it for a couple of minutes you nodded and smiled. “Yes, he can move in,” you answered as Devitt squeals.
“Alright, who’s hungry because we are.” jughead asked walking up holding betty’s hand as Ronnie and Archie followed behind. “we are,” you answered getting up along with Pea as he held on to Devitt. “Alright let's get going to pops than to Archiekins house for movie night” Ronnie smiled as the gang got everything ready to leave.
- At pops-
“Hey, Devitt tries this,” Jughead said handing Devitt a fries dipped with chocolate from his shake as Devitt takes it and eats it. “Ju..,” you started but Devitt smiled widely. “Mommy, may I have another one,” Devitt asked as you sighed but smiled and handed Devitt another one as he eats it. “He’s going to be hyper when we get to Archie’s house.” Ronnie laughed as I sighed rubbing my face. “Yes, but yall don’t have to watch him I do,” you said as Pea rubbed your arm and kissed your temple. “hey you have me now babe.” Pea smiled as he held Devitt. “At least we know that he likes it.” Archie laughed as Ronnie rested her head on Archy's shoulder and Betty wraps her arms around Jug's arm.
- At Archie’s house-
Everyone was enjoying the movie as soon as the movie was over Devitt and Y/n ended up falling asleep then soon after Archie and Ronnie fell asleep on the other couch, Betty ended up falling asleep cuddled up to Jughead. “Now, there are two.” Sweet pea said turning off the movie “So, Pea how does it feel now that you are going to be a step..” “hey don’t say that I will raise Devitt like he’s my own it doesn’t change the way I feel about Y/n I know that I will do whatever it takes to protect her, I’d don’t know what I will do if I haven’t ran into Y/n that day ever since I met both of them my life has changed in a good way though you know how it’s my duty to protect both of them.” He said as Jug nodded “I’m glad you are now in love I never have seen you like this in a long time.” He said taking off his beanie and pulling Betty closer and closing his eyes
“I’d do anything to keep both of you safe and I’ll make sure that if anyone hurts either one of yall I’ll kick their asses, goodnight princess.” He said softly and kisses you a temple and ruffles Devitts hair pulling you closer to him and falling asleep.
(that’s the ending of part 5 I really hoped yall like it I took a while to come up with more things to make this longer then repeating most of these things let me know what yall think. I wonder what's going to happen in the next part)

Archie takes care of a drunk Veronica after a girls night and she starts to talk about what she wants for their future (kids, weeding)
Since you never mentioned they were together already...
“Whoops!” Veronica stumbles to her right in her way to press the button of the 11th floor to get to her apartment, but luckily Archie manages to wrap an arm around her waist and keep her upright – or at least in one piece.
She giggles, and he can’t help but chuckle.
Here is Veronica Lodge, his partner of many projects – the snobbish, hard-ass and gorgeous New York princess. She’s on her way to become one of the most sought-after interior designers, and he’s just the architect willing to follow her lead. They are still young, but the firm they work for has them already booking deals withimportant clients. Veronica wants to show off, make dreams come true, as she says. He just wants to get the job done.
They step out of the elevator, and when Veronica searches for her keys, she drops her handbag. He has to pick it up, or she’ll fall flat on her face.
The thing is, they’ve never been friends. They’ve been working together for almost two years, and sometimes have screamed their heads off while disagreeing about a project, butthey are usually cordial. Actually, he’s been to her apartment before, for work-related issues, which is the only reason why the doorman let him in with an intoxicated Veronica. Archie still earned himself a funny look.
“Give me the keys,” Archie says softly, trying to reason with her.
“No, I can do it.” Veronica frowns, and attempts to get the key in the lock, but before she canscratch the glossy black door with it, Archie catches her hand and takes the keys. “I can!” she whines, but he has already unlocked it, and is pushing her inside as he turns on the lights. She stumbles, but then grabs his forearm and kicks her expensive shoes off and away into her perfectly decorated living room. One ends up in the middle of the coffee table, almost knocking a vase full of sunflowers.
Archie almost cringes, but the vase doesn’t budge.
He has no idea why out of all people, Veronica called him to aid her get home. Her friends werealso in bad shape, and they were all getting rides with their partners or more sober friends.
“Are you okay? Can you get yourself into bed?” He asks while she blows her hair out of her mouth and snorts a laugh. “Veronica?”
“No!” She giggles again and sways to one side. “Yes, of course, Archibald.”
“You sure?”
She doesn’t say a thing, just nods affirmatively.
“Okay. I’m leaving now.” He turns around, and manages to get his hand on the knob, when he hears a loud noise behind him and sees she has fallen on her ass and knocked over a plant, dirt all over the floor. Archie heaves a sigh before going to her and picking her up. “Come on, Lodge.”
Veronica looks up at him, and smiles all softly. “Your eyes are so pretty.”
He’d laugh, or get nervous, but instead he only smiles. “Thank you. Now, be a good girl, let meget you to your room.”
She snorts a laugh. “Archiekins! You cannot get me to bed. Not yet.”
Now he does snort a laugh. He gets her up, but she’s not doing much walking, so Archie is quick to throw her over his shoulders. Hopefully, Veronica won’t remember any of this or he won’t hear the end of it for treating her like a sack of potatoes.
“Sorry, Ronnie. You’re wasted, so I’ll have to get you to bed.”
He hears her sigh. “Okay.” She pauses, and for a second he thinks she has fallen asleep, but then he steps into her bedroom, the big one at the end of the hall, so he assumes. “You have such a nice ass,” Veronica blurts out, and he does everything he can not to drop her. “Sometimes, when you’re checking the blueprints on the drafting table, I can’t get my eyes off your ass.”
And now he drops her. On the bed, but still. His cheeks get a little pink, but she’s smiling at theceiling in the middle of her comfy bed. Her shiny black hair is fanned over around her, and she looks beautiful and vulnerable. He’s just trying to be a gentleman, taking care of her.
“I want to pinch it.”
“Veronica,” he laughs, while trying to open the bed and just get her under the covers – clothes and all, he’s not going to undress her.
She props herself up with her arms. “You’re a beautiful man, did you know that? Handsome, sweet, hard-working. Hot. Strong arms. Nice butt.” She snickers, like a child doing mischief. “I’ve wanted to kiss you so many times. And last year, when you told me you had to ask me something while we were working on the Scharwtzmann project, I thought you would ask me out, and instead you told me to get youreservations for you and your girlfriend at one of my father’s restaurants. I was so mad.”
He feels his stomach drop. He remembers perfectly. Also, two months later, Val dumped him because he always chose work over her.
“You wanted me to ask you on a date?”
Sighing, Veronica flops back on the bed. “I still do. I look at you and think you’re the only manwho could ever understand me, because you’d be patient enough, because you know how my mind works even before I do. And I love that, how you get what I like and what I don’t like with one look, and that you learned how I like my coffee, and you have a blanket in your office for the late nights. Your office smells like cypress and pencils, and your plaid shirts are awful, and I love and expect them whenever we go to the sites.”
“Ronnie,” Archie mutters softly, easing her under the covers while he stares at her as if shewere under a new light. She’s still beautiful, smart, confident and a hard-ass, but now he can see that he was right – she does hide a softer side.
“I’d marry the hell out of you. And get pregnant,” Veronica scowls deeply, almost comically. “I never wanted to get pregnant for any other man, and lose my life and figure for them, but you’d be such a good dad. I know because of how you talk about yours.” Sheturns on her side, and for a second she looks sober. “We’d have three children, a girl and two boys. You would treat her like a princess, but also make sure she knew everything about building things just like the boys. And I’d make them stylish, and get mad at you for ruining their expensive clothes while playing, but it wouldn’t last long.”
Archie smiles at her. “Why is that?”
“Because we’d love each other,” she mutters, her eyes finally closing. “We’d be happy.”
Veronica curls up on her side and quiets down.
Archie looks at her for a minute, pulling the covers up to tuck her in.
---
After the eventful Friday night, Archie is in his office already working that Monday. He’s purposefully avoided Veronica, not wanting to embarrass her – or wrongfully get his hopesup, in case she doesn’t remember a thing. But soon, the petite designer is knocking on the door. He can see her through the glass door in her navy dress, silver necklace and pink cheeks – Archie’s never seen her look this shy before.
“Hi,” she greets him in a small voice. “I wanted to thank you about Friday night. And apologize in case I said something inappropriate.” Veronica is fidgeting, and Archie takes some pleasure in knowing she at least cares, that she’s probably curious about what truly happened.
“No problem,” he replies simply.
“Thanks for the water and the Advil.”
He smirks. “Sure. I’ve been in that situation before.”
“Right,” she says with more ease, as she takes a deep breath. “I trust you won’t tell anyone?”
“Of course. I didn’t get why you called me out of all people to rescue you, but I’m glad you did.” Archie stands up from his desk and walks around it, stand it before her, but then leaning back against the desk.
“I get chatty when I’m drunk,” Veronica whispers. No one needs to know what she does or not in her life outside the office, and he’ll keep that secret to himself.
“I’d say so.”
“Hopefully, I didn’t share something embarrassing?” Veronica’s dark brown eyes are big and bright on him, waiting expectantly.
“No,” he replies while a smile appears on his lips.
“Good, then I’ll go back to work,” she’s halfway on turning around to leave, when he stops her with just one comment.
“I also think three is a good number of children.”

A Journey To Find True Love
Tumblr media
We start off with Archie as the bachelor, Ronnie is in his season. The story progresses, and she becomes the next bachelorette after he finishes his season. Both of them go on their journey to find true love.
I will be writing this AU in the form of a tv show. Since, we all know that “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” are reality tv shows.
This is the season finale!!!
(You guys. I CRIED writing this episode. Also, this episode is going to be HELLA LONG because this is season finale. Think of it as like, on television when they have “two hour finale” of certain shows. Yeah :D)
Previously on “The Bachelor”
Archie and Betty went on their fantasy suite
And it was absolutely perfect <3
 Only two are left.
 Betty and Veronica.
Archie has a very difficult decision to make..
Who will get Archie’s final rose?
 Who will Archie propose to?
 Okay.
 Without further ado,
 Buckle up, buckaroos!!!

AND
Barchie’s Proposal
AND
After The Final Rose Special
Tumblr media
(setting: Confessional Booth)
Ronnie sat down in front of the camera, sipping her coffee. “EEEEEE,” she squealed. “I’m so excited! I’m getting an overnight date with my Archiekins.”
She giggled as she adjusted her pearls. “I know sex is generally part of a relationship. But, I can honestly say, I’m ready to take that next step with Archie. I am. And, I feel really nervous to tell him...”
She coyly tilted her head. “I’m in love with him.”
(setting: Archie’s hotel room in Greece)
“What are you thinking at this point?” Jughead asked, on speakerphone while Archie was getting dressed for his date with Veronica.
“I have a gut feeling of what I need to do. But I just want to give this a fair shot.”
“That’s understandable. But...are you going to....?”
“I don’t know, Jug. My heart is telling me not to. But at the same time, my mind is telling me to give both of these women an equal chance. Neither one of them deserve to feel cheated out of this experience.”
“Don’t think of it like that,” Jughead said. “You shouldn’t go into this feeling like you have to. Felling guilty if you don’t. You should be doing this because you want to. And if you don’t......then don’t force things.”
Archie sighed. Then he glanced out the window. “I gotta go. Limo’s here.”
“Look, just don’t....say or do anything you don’t genuinely mean. Be real with both of them.”
“Oh believe me, I will. And that’s what I’m scared of.”
(setting: Confessional Booth)
“I’m not.…” Archie trailed off, putting his face in his hands. “I mean, how can I be? This isn’t something I can just...”
He took a deep breath. “Neither one of them deserves to hurt. How am I supposed to do this?”
Tumblr media
(setting: Veronica’s hotel suite in Greece)
“What do you think of this for dinner?” Veronica asked Toni Topaz over speakerphone, after she sent her a picture of the dress.
“Oh my god,” Toni reacted. “You are killing it, V.”
“Thank you,” Ronnie said. “I’m so excited. But I’m so nervous too. What if this is the last time-”
“No,” Toni said. “Don’t say that. You never know how the date can go. I want you to be positive about this, V.”
     Veronica smiled. “I want to.”
“Just enjoy every moment you have with him. Everything will be okay, Ronnie. I promise.”
Tumblr media
(setting: Confessional Booth)
“I love Ronnie. And I want her to be happy. But honestly, seeing her and the other women get so worked up dating the same person, makes me so glad I didn’t agree to do this,” Toni laughed.
She sighed. “I know how Veronica feels about Archie. And, I really hope he feels the same way. She’s so ready for love. And she deserves it so much.”
She tucked some of her pink hair behind her ear. “But if he doesn’t. Then, I will be there for her. And I’ll do everything I can to help her get through it. Cause, I love her. And I know she would do the same for me.”
She glanced at the producer. “Bachelor in Paradise? Ah, I don’t know. That type of environment wouldn’t be my cup of tea.”
She paused. “Wait.... who did you say was going to be there?” she asked, raising an eyebrow, and smiling.
Tumblr media
(setting: Greece!)
Veronica stood, anxiously waiting for Archie’s arrival.
The limo arrived. He stepped out, instantly smiling as he spotted her.
She walked over to him. “Man of the hour.”
“I missed you Ronnie,” he said, hugging her tightly.
“I missed you Archiekins,” she whispered, kissing him.
“You look beautiful,” he said, admiring her.
“Thank you,” she giggled. “You look beautiful too.”
He laughed. Then hugged her from behind.
“So I was thinking we’d go to this Greek Theme Park, explore the city a little before our dinner reservation,” he said, with a grin.
“That sounds really fun,” Veronica giggled.
“After that I have a little extra surprise for you,” he said with a wink.
“Oooo,” she said, snuggling on his chest.
He laughed and kissed her forehead.
The couple went inside the limo, and took off.
Tumblr media
(setting: Theme Park)
After going on a few roller coasters, Archie and Veronica walked around the park, sharing cotton candy.
“I am loving this,” Archie said, holding her hand.
“Me too,” she agreed. “This feels like a regular Saturday. Us being us. Letting go of the draining week.”
Archie ran over to a flower stand.
“What are you doing?” She asked, laughing.
“Picking these out for you,” he said, getting down on one knee. “Ronnie. Will you accept...these roses?”
Veronica laughed as she took the bouquet of roses from him.
Tumblr media
Archie and Veronica stumbled upon the ferris wheel.
“I feel like we shouldn’t ignore this,” Archie chuckled.
“If you go to a theme park and don’t get on the ferris wheel...did you even go?” Veronica laughed.
The two got in line, kissing, cuddling on each other. Playfully feeding each other kettle corn.
             Finally, they stepped on.
Tumblr media
(setting: All the way at the top)
“Everything looks so small,” Ronnie whispered.
“It really makes you think. I just..” he trailed off. “I wish I could freeze time.”
“Hey,” she said, rubbing his shoulder. “Remember, it’s important. We need to focus on these moments. Make memories.”
“I don’t want to go back down.”
“Neither do I,” she said, leaning her head on his shoulder. “I wish I could stay up here with you.”
         They kissed each other softly.
(setting: Later in the night. Dinner)
“I was really nervous going into tonight,” Veronica said quietly. “Because I don’t know where your head’s at. Call it girlfriend’s intuition. But is something off?”
“Nothing is off about us, Ronnie,” he said, taking her hand. “I feel the same way about you that I always have.”
        “Which is?” she giggled.
He leaned closer. “Night one, you took my breath away. Every moment, every conversation, every kiss, since then has always furthered my feelings for you. You’re someone that I’m absolutely crazy about.”
She kissed him. “I love that you can comfort me and make me strong. You built my strength when I was distressed over my father’s return.”
“I told you that you made me want to be a better man. And I meant that. You helped give me the strength I needed to feel okay again on that three-on-one.”
She glanced at the note on the table.
Archie laughed. “Chris Harrison left us a little note.”
She opened the note and read aloud. “Archie and Veronica. I hope you two are enjoying your time together in this beautiful city. Should you decide to go in your separate hotel rooms, feel free. However. Should you decide to go to the fantasy suite, take this key inside the envelope. Love, Chris Harrison.”
            He kissed her. “Shall we?”
            She giggled. “We shall.”
“Good. Because if we didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to show you the surprise I planned.”
Tumblr media
(setting: Underwater hotel room)
              Veronica gasped. “OH MY GOSH.”
Archie twirled her around and kissed her.
“I cannot believe you did this.”
“You always made me believe that, with love, you need to go all out.”
         Veronica was completely in awe.
“Plus, when we went our hometown date, I took you to a waterfall. I wanted to remind you of that special moment,” He added.
“When we saw the rainbow,” she whispered.
“It honestly gave me so much hope for this relationship.”
She giggled. Then looked into his eyes, pulling him over to the couch.
“I’m in love with you, Archiekins.”
Tumblr media
After making out passionately for a few minutes, she whispered in his ear. “I love you, Archie.”
         And friends, in that moment....
         Everything changed.
Archie slowly pulled away. Veronica looked at him, confused. “Did...did I do something wrong?”
“No you didn’t,” he whispered. He put his face in his hands.
         “What’s wrong Archie?”
       “I don’t think I’m....”
She rubbed his shoulders gently. “It’s okay if you’re not ready to make love. I completely understand.”
“It’s...not that,” he said, getting choked up. A tear ran down his cheek.
Veronica looked at him for a moment. Then the realization set in.
      “Oh...” she whispered.
“I wanted,” he began. “I wanted to give both of you an honest fair shot. I wanted to give both of you the best version of myself. Because that’s what you deserve. You deserve for me to be all in. You wouldn’t deserve some half ass bullshit.”
“Archie,” Veronica said softly, shutting her eyes. “Be honest with me. Please.”
He took a deep breath. And then put his face in his hands. “I can’t love two people. I wanted to see if I could, but I can’t.”
Veronica felt a sinking feeling in her stomach.
     (setting: Confessional Booth)
Archie was sitting in his chair, crying. “I didn’t want to make her feel like this. But what...what am I supposed to do? When all I do...is think about Betty,” he said between sobs.
(setting: Fantasy Suite)
“When I had my overnight with Betty,” he explained softly. “We said I love you to each other. And I thought, if I could get there with you..” he sobbed. “Then it would be fair. And then I could make this decision without.. without any guilt because I would’ve known that I gave both of you my all.”
“But you..” she sobbed. “You can’t, can you?”
“I was wrong,” he sobbed. “I thought I could love both of you but I can’t. And you have no idea, how badly I wanted to be right about this.”
The two hugged each other, crying softly. “I don’t want to say goodbye to you,” Veronica said.
“Veronica I am so...” he continued to cry.
“It’s okay. Archie, I told you, time and time again, that if it’s not me at the end of this, then I’ll be happy. Because..” her voice cracked. “Because I know your heart will be in good hands.”
He half-smiled. “You were always so strong for me when I need it.”
She smiled. “Archiekins. What we had, was...”
       He nodded. “It was.”
“You have no reason to feel guilty about this,” she said, leaning her head on his shoulder. “From the beginning, you always wanted to follow your heart. And you owe that to yourself. I know you gave me everything you could. I did, too. In the end we can say that we gave each other our all. We did intend for this to work. You had the best intentions with me ,and I with you. That’s what matters.”
They hugged each other one last time.
    “Goodbye Archie.”
    “Goodbye Veronica.”
(setting: Confessional Booth)
“I saw it,” Veronica sobbed. “I really saw it. There was a part of me that was shocked. Blindsided, I guess. Believed that I would be engaged at the end of this. I was so...hopeful. For the first time in my life I let myself believe that it was going to happen.”
She wiped her eyes. “But I’m so happy for Betty. I love her so much. And I want her to be happy so freaking badly. She deserves it more than anyone. And...like, I said to Archie. His heart will be in good hands. They’re going to be so amazing for each other. And I’m happy.”
She took a deep breath. “I hope there’s someone out there for me. Being with Archie, it really opened my heart. To all the possibilities. I want someone to love me back. The desire of my heart is to be loved fiercely. And I’ll wait. Until whenever that is.”
Tumblr media
(setting: The next morning. Beach at the crack of dawn.)
Betty was sitting on the rocks, watching the waves.
“Hey you,” Archie said, appearing from behind her. “Thought I might find you here.”
Betty laughed. “Are you stalking me?”
“I might’ve asked the crew to help me find you.”
She giggled. Then sighed. “Probably not my place to ask. But...how did it go last night with Veronica?”
Betty shut her eyes. Preparing herself for the break up speech.
“It was good. But...” he trailed off. Betty opened one eye. He looked down. “I had to send her home.”
       Betty gasped. “Why?”
      Archie smiled at her.
She continued to stare at him, waiting for a response.
He continued to smile at her.
Finally, realization set in. “OH,” she said loudly.
“Betty,” he said softly. “It’s you.”
     Her eyes began to water.
He took her hands. “When we went our overnight, and we expressed our love for each other...I knew I didn’t want to lose you. I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
    She smiled wide.
“I know in my heart that I can’t love two people. Betty, you’re the love of my life. I don’t ever want to let you go. Throughout this entire journey as the bachelor, you’ve been my rock through it all. I look at you, and I’m home. You’re everything to me, Betty.”
He got down on one knee.
She gasped, tears streaming down her cheeks.
     Both of their hearts accelerating.
“Betty Cooper. Will you marry me?”
“YES!!!” She screamed, running into his arms, tackling him on the sand. “I love you so much!!”
     “I love you so much!!”
He picked her up and spun her around.
“OH SHIT, I FORGOT,” Archie yelled. He took a rose out from his jacket pocket. “Betty, will you accept my final rose?”
“Yes!” Betty laughed. “You silly goose.”
Tumblr media
(setting: Andrews Household)
Archie opened the front door. “Mom! Dad! Jug! We’re home!”
Fred, Mary, and Jughead were in the living room. “I can’t wait to see who he picked!” Mary cheered.
The three walked over to the front door.
“Guys,” Archie declared. “This is Betty.”
     “Hi everyone!” Betty said happily.
“Welcome Betty,” Fred said, shaking her hand.
“Hello, hello!!” Mary said, pulling Betty in for a hug.
Jughead smiled at her. “Hi, Betty.”
(setting: Confessional Booth)
“So how does this work?” Jughead asked. “I just....talk straight into the camera?”
        The camera-man nodded.
“This is so weird. I can’t believe Archie’s been doing that this whole time,” He muttered. “So, yeah. Archie picked Betty, that’s really great. I personally think so, because...”
He leaned forward. “I had my eye on the raven haired princess this whole time,” he chuckled.       “I KNEW IT!!!” Archie yelled, jumping from behind him.
     “HOLY SHIT, you scared me.”
“Does that mean you’ll agree to go on the bachelorette?” Archie asked.
Jughead smiled. “Only if it’s her.”
(setting: Fast forward three weeks. In the live studio.)
“Welcome to the After The Final Rose Special! I’m your host, Chris Harrison!” Chris greeted the audience. “Whew! What a finale, right?”
             The audience applauded.
“It’s time to catch up with our couple of the night, Archie Andrews and Betty Cooper!” he announced.
Archie and Betty entered the stage, holding hands. Waved at the audience, and sat down next to Chris.
“So! How’s it been since filming the show?” Chris asked them.
Archie and Betty looked at each other, and laughed.
“I met his family, and his best friend,” Betty shared. “It went really well. They made me feel right at home.”
“Betty’s mom warmed up to me. Polly even let us babysit the twins together. It’s good practice for when we have our own someday,” Archie shared.
“That is heartwarming,” Chris said. “So I take it you two are still going strong?”
“We are,” Archie said. “We haven’t set a date yet. But we do plan for how we want it to be.”
“Kevin, Cheryl, Veronica, and Josie have been really supportive, helping me go through bridal magazines and helping with the planning,” Betty said.
“How touching,” Chris said. He glanced at the audience. “Speaking of the other women, are you ready to find out who is the next bachelorette?!?!”
      The audience cheered, “YES!”
Christ stood up from his seat. Smiled wide. “VERONICA LODGE!”
Tumblr media
Veronica walked on stage, waved at the audience. She and Betty ran to each other and hugged each other tightly.
“When were you gonna tell me?!” Betty laughed.
       “Right now,” Veronica laughed.
       Archie smiled. “Congrats, Ronnie.”
      “Thank you, Archie.”
She faced the audience. “I just want to say thank you to the fans who always supported me. Thank you to my parents for being completely on board with this. Thank you to Chris Harrison who, personally came to the Pembrooke to offer this to me, face to face.”
She turned around to look at Archie and Betty, who were smiling at her.
“When I agreed to be a contestant on The Bachelor, I honestly didn’t expect this experience to change my life. But, I’m so grateful for everything. And I can’t wait to go on this journey to find true love.”

Crush on a Northsider
Title: Crush on a Northsider

Tumblr media
“Archiekins!” I turned around at the mention of the red heads name. He was standing at his locker looking at something and his girlfriend was walking up to him and I felt my shoulders slump. “Hey baby.” She smiled, kissing him when she reached him and I rolled my eyes slamming my locker shut.
“Why don’t you just talk to him? I have never known you not to go for what you want. You aren’t even friends with the Lodge girl.” I looked back over at the couple before walking away from my locker. “You like him Y/N it’s obvious.” He mumbled.
“Yeah so? Jughead said we aren’t allowed near his friends.” I glared at the mention of Jughead. I loved the guy but being told what to do didn’t sit well with me, but I didn’t want to go against his orders because he’ll just think I didn’t take him seriously, when I do. “I respect Jughead and you should too! Going behind his back and trying to sweet talk Josie.” Sweet Pea laughed rolling his eyes.
“Jones will be knocked off his throne, just wait on it.” I shoved Sweet Pea and kept walking. “I’m joking! I know how much you adore Jughead.”
“Yeah, so stop disrespecting his orders Sweet Pea.” I pinched the bridge of my nose while turning towards him. “I don’t think he minds us not following those orders anymore.” He smirked and I rose an eyebrow at him. “Cheryl invited everyone to a pool party, Northside and Southside mixed, maybe you’ll get lucky.”
-
I was currently at Thornhill sitting by myself because I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t like being told what to do but I did listen to Jughead. “Y/N watch out!” I looked over and spotted a football headed my way I stood up and caught the ball.
Archie ran up to me and smiled. “Nice catch.” I shrugged and sat back down. “I’m Archie.” He stuck his hand out and I shook it. “Y/N.” I smiled.
“Oh, I know.” He smiled before grabbing the ball from my hand and walking away. “Did I just see you talk to Archie?” I looked over at Fangs and nodded. “He definitely tossed the ball in your direction on purpose.” He teased and I rolled my eyes. “Seriously Y/N, go enjoy it’s a party make friends.” I sighed standing up and Fangs smiled.
I pushed Fangs into the pool and he grabbed onto my arm pulling me with him. “Fangs!” I shouted when I came back up for air and he laughed out loud.
We played around in the pool for a while, until the sun started setting and we all headed to Pop’s. It wasn’t everyone just Jughead’s Northside group of friends and me, Sweets, Fangs, Toni along with Cheryl. “I have an idea!” Cheryl said when we sat at a table. “Let’s play truth or dare. It’s closing time and Veronica you won’t mind right? You do own this place.” Veronica shook her head and Cheryl smiled. “Great.”
Cheryl had suggested we play truth or dare, mostly dare because as we all know Cheryl likes to play dirty. We had all moved the tables and formed a circle of chairs. “Okay, so Jughead you go first.” Jug nodded and looked around before his eyes landed on Toni. “I dare Toni to kiss the person she finds most attractive.” Toni obviously kissed Cheryl.
“I dare Sweet Pea to kiss Y/N.” I rolled my eyes and Sweet Pea kissed me softly before pulling away.
Sweet Pea looked around the group before his eyes landed on me. Crap, I was screwed. “I dare Y/N to make out with the person she has a crush on.” I rolled my eyes before standing up and sitting on Archie’s lap. “Don’t freak out.” I pushed my lips against his and my hands wrapped around his head. I could feel his hand on my thigh while another held the back of my head.
After a while I pulled away and Archie had my lipstick all over his lips and I smirked before getting up and sitting back next to Sweets. “That was a heavy make out session.” Sweet Pea inserted and I chuckled.
“Everyone out.” Veronica said while her eyes were on me and I rolled my eyes. “Come on Pea, apparently little daddy’s girl can’t handle a game.”
“Y/N.” Jughead warned and I rolled my eyes. “I’ll stay away from your Northside friends Jug, don’t worry.” I stood up and grabbed my jacket off the chair before heading for the door. “Don’t leave.” I felt a hand on my wrist and turned to see Archie
“Seriously Archie?” Veronica asked and I smirked in her direction before grabbing Archie and kissing him roughly. “See you around red.” I smirked walking out of Pop’s.

A/N: No disrespect towards Varchie, I actually quite like them together.

Archie and Betty through the years (from teenagers to middle-age?) being each other's support systems when things get a little tough in their relationships with Veronica and Jug.

“Ronnie, you have to talk her out of it,” Archie begs forthe third time that day. Veronica slides her deep purple dress on and turnsaround, waiting for Archie to zip her up. A bridesmaid dress, for all intentsand purposes. Archie drags the zip up and Veronica turns around, placing herhands on his shoulders.
“Like I said, Archiekins,” she says. “If you think it’s sucha bad idea, then you should talk themout of it.”
“Don’t you think it’s a bad idea?”
Veronica laughs. “Of course I do. But it’s their life.”
“So as Betty’s best friend—” Archie starts, until Veronicacuts him off.
“You’re Betty’sbest friend, remember? And Jughead’s,” she reminds him. Archie looks pained. Veronicastraightens his tie. “You know they won’t change their minds now. They’ve beenplanning this ever since Betty became the so-called serpent queen,” she rollsher eyes.
“But what if they’re making a huge mistake?” Archie presses. And he’d try to convince them himself he would, it’s just—to talk to Betty outof it would feel like betraying Jughead, and to talk Jughead out of it wouldfeel like betraying Betty. And to try and talk to them together is just alosing battle.
Veronica shrugs. “It’s only marriage. And no one knowsbetter than the four of us how well that canlast.”
Archie still has his doubts. But to Veronica, it’s caseclosed. She puts her heels on and heads for the hotel room door.
“Come on,” she says, tilting her head. “The bride and groomare waiting for us.”
At a chapel in Vegas, two weeks after graduation, Betty andJughead tie the knot, with Veronica and Archie as their witnesses.
Alice had forbidden it, and FP had warned against it. Thathad only made Betty want to do it more. She’s queasy as she walks down theaisle in a dress she bought months ago, not exactly a wedding dress, but it’swhite. Her serpent tattoo is fresh on her hip.
She gets through the vows, and Jughead through his, and thefour of them head to the hotel bar. They’re only eighteen, but they get servedanyway.
Four drinks in, Betty is on top of the world. Surrounded byher friends, married to the love of her life. She’s pretty sure things couldn’tget more perfect.
Six drinks in, she’s outside, desperate for fresh air, feeling claustrophobic, her white dress too tight. Archie’s hand grazes herback.
“Hey,” he says softly. Her head spins. “Are you okay?”
Betty nods. “Too much to drink.” A light breeze tousles herhair, and she closes her eyes, grateful for the coolness of the wind on herface. Archie stays beside her.
“Perhaps it’s time for bed,” Archie suggests. “Mrs Jones,”he adds. A joke probably, but she doesn’t laugh.
“Did I make a mistake?” she whispers, so softly she’s sureArchie hasn’t heard, especially since he doesn’t respond right away.
He takes a deep breath. “Of course not,” he finally replies.“You and Jughead were bound to get married eventually. What difference does itmake if it’s now or in a few years?”
Betty nods. She leans against him, and he wraps his armsaround her.
“Let’s get you to bed,” he says.
The last thing she remembers is him pressing a kiss to herforehead before she drifts off to sleep.
Moving to New York was always the plan. Archie never thoughthe’d be leaving Betty and Jughead behind in Riverdale. But Jughead says heneeds to get things sorted with the Serpents before he leaves, and Betty, ashis wife, is staying to support him. They both swear they’ll join him andVeronica in New York next year.
Archie loves living in New York, but the thing is, it’sfreaking expensive. He manages to get a job waiting tables, but he kind ofsucks at it, so the tips aren’t great. Veronica, on the other hand, is alreadya successful business owner, and she’s even thinking about turning Pop’s into achain. She’s currently studying business while Archie studies music on ascholarship.
It’s not exactly how imagined it. He lives in a dorm with aroommate he doesn’t particularly like, instead of the nice apartment hepictured sharing with Veronica or Jughead. Veronica refuses to spend any timein his dorm, and he’s always travelling back and forth across the city to seeher. Her apartment is nothing fancy, but the fact that she can afford to livein it alone is impressive enough.
“We should go travelling in the summer,” Veronica saysdreamily, playing with Archie’s hair as they lay in her bed on a Saturdaymorning. “Europe, maybe. Or Australia.”
“I don’t think that’s going to be possible, Ronnie,” Archiesighs. He’d love to give her everything she wants, honestly. But he doesn’thave the money.
Veronica pouts. “Why not? Haven’t you always wanted to go toParis?”
“I’d love to see it with you,” Archie says. “But I’llprobably be working for my dad over the summer.”
“Does he really need you?” Veronica complains.
Archie tries not to sigh again. She just doesn’t get it. “Idon’t know, Ronnie. But I need the money. New York is expensive.”
“Oh,” Veronica says, understanding finally dawning. “I’llpay for your flights.”
Archie groans. He pulls away from the hand twirling in hishair and sits up. “I don’t want you to do that.”
“Archiekins, come on,” Veronica coos, sitting up beside him.“It’s just money.”
Archie tries not to be frustrated with her, but he can’thelp it. “Of course it is, to you,” he huffs. He throws himself out of bed andgets dressed.
“Don’t be such a proud man,” Veronica snaps. “Does it reallybother you that I make more money than you? That I’m more successful than you?”
Her words sting. “Of course not,” Archie says. “I’m proud ofeverything you’ve done. But I don’t want to have to rely on you to pay forthings for me. If you want to go to Europe, that’s fine. But I can’t affordit.”
He thinks he’s explained himself well, that she’llunderstand. But she gives him a pained looks and says, “That’s ridiculous,Archie. I’m happy to pay.”
Archie shakes his head. “Forget it,” he says. “I’ll see youlater.”
Veronica doesn’t bother trying to stop him as he leaves.
On the train home, he calls Betty.
“Hey,” she says brightly. Archie can feel some of thetension drain out of him at the sound of her voice.
“Hey,” Archie replies. “What’s up?”
“I’m just doing the dishes, nothing interesting,” Bettylaughs. “What’s up with you?”
“Veronica and I kind of had a fight,” he says.
“Oh, what happened?”
“She wants to go to Europe this summer and I told her Ican’t afford it. She said she’d pay but…” he trails off. Maybe he’s being dumb.Maybe Betty will tell him he’s being an idiot and he should take a free trip toEurope from his girlfriend.
“Of course she did,” Betty snorts. “I love V, but she reallyhas no clue what it’s like to not have any money.”
“So you don’t think I’m being stupid?”
“I completely get it, Archie. I’m the same, I don’t want tofeel like I owe someone something, even if it’s someone I’m in a relationshipwith. You want to stand on your own two feet. It’s perfectly understandable.”
Archie breathes a sigh of relief. Someone gets it. Someonegets him. “Thanks, Betty. You always know exactly what to say.”
“Anytime, Arch.”
Betty is pretty sure she shouldn’t be feeling this anxiousright now. Archie is home for the summer and he’s coming over in an hour fordinner at the little unit Betty and Jughead have been renting this past year. She can’t wait to see him. She’s missed him a lot this past year. They spoke onthe phone a lot, and he came home a few times, but it’s not the same as seeinghim every day.
She’s been working for her mom all year at the Register, while Jughead works on his novel and leads the Serpents, doing odd jobs forpeople or writing a story for the Register every now and again for some extracash. But it’s not what she wants to do anymore. She’s ready to get out ofRiverdale, go to college, see the world. She keeps seeing Veronica’s Instagramposts, in a bikini in Greece, or on top of the Eiffel Tower, and she can’t helpbut feel jealous.
She’s got a million things she wants to do in her life, andthe truth is, now she doesn’t know if she’ll ever get to do them.
Her hands shake as she opens the little box containing thepregnancy test. The cashier had congratulated her when she bought it. Betty hadsmiled like she was excited, when in fact she just feels sick. Sitting on thetoilet, she reads the instructions, and follows them to the letter. Now all shecan do is wait.
Her stomach churns. This could be a good thing, right? It should be a good thing. She’s married tothe man she loves, possibly pregnant with his baby. This isn’t some teenpregnancy like her mom or Polly. This is different.
Except she knows she’s not ready. Kids are for after she’sfinished college, after she’s travelled, after she’s had a career and a life. Not now. Jughead will probably bethrilled. She’s beginning to suspect he’s not that interested in collegeanyway, and would rather stay here and lead the Serpents. And a baby would makehim so happy.
She watches the test, praying for a negative. Her prayersaren’t answered.
She decides not to tell Jughead yet. It can wait until afterdinner. She throws the test in the trash and covers it with tissues, then getsto making dinner. She usually cooks, Jughead isn’t that great at it. He alwayssays he’ll do the washing up, but he rarely gets around to it. There’s alwayssome gang issue he has to resolve. Betty had been excited to be part of theSerpents at first, but she’s already bored of it, skipping most of theirmeetings in favour of reading a book on the couch.
The doorbell rings just as Betty is dishing up the chicken.Jughead gets it, and Betty listens as he greets Archie, and then the two ofthem join her in the kitchen. She turns around, and before she can even sayhello, Archie is pulling her into a hug. She laughs, squeezing him tightlyback, forgetting for a moment the worries on her mind. But then he pulls awayand Betty glances at Jughead and the churning in her gut returns.
“I’m so glad you’re home,” Betty tells Archie. “Dinner’sready, go sit down and I’ll bring it to you.”
Archie obeys, grinning, and Jughead follows, leaving Bettyto bring the plates out.
If either of the guys notice that Betty isn’t quite herself, they don’t say anything. Betty is pretty quiet the whole time, letting Jugheadand Archie keep the conversation. It’s not that she doesn’t want to join in,it’s just that she can’t seem to take her mind off the revelation she’dreceived in the bathroom earlier.
They discuss Archie’s college life, the Serpents, Betty’sjob, and Veronica being in Europe. Archie swears he isn’t jealous, and thathe’s not worried about Veronica hanging around those hot European guys.
“She can flirt as much as she likes,” Archie shrugs. “I knowshe’d never cheat on me.”
It’s at that moment Jughead gets a message, and he’s alreadystanding up before Betty can ask who it’s from.
“Sorry guys, gotta run,” he says. “Emergency Serpentbusiness.”
“Seriously, Jug?” Betty pleads. “Can’t it wait? We have aguest.”
“No, one of the new recruits thought it would be a greatidea to graffiti one of the Ghoulies’ cars, so I have to go and deal with that.Besides, it’s just Archie.”
“Surely Toni, or Sweet Pea—”
“I’m the Serpent king, Betty,” Jughead huffs. “It’s my job.”
“Fine,” Betty mutters. Jughead gives her a kiss on the headbefore running out the door. Betty looks to Archie, who looks a littleembarrassed at having witnessed the argument, pushing his peas around hisplate. “Sorry about that,” Betty says.
Archie looks up. “You don’t have to be sorry,” he assuresher. Betty watches him gingerly put a pea in his mouth before she snorts withlaughter.
“I forgot you hate peas,” she says. Archie laughs. “Youdon’t have to eat them. Here.” She stands up and takes his plate, stacking iton top of hers and Jughead’s, then takes them to the kitchen.
“You want me to wash up?” Archie calls after her.
“It’s okay,” Betty says. “I’ll do it after you go.” She putsthe plates in the sink. She stands there a moment, trying to gather herselfbefore she goes back out to face Archie. She won’t enjoy is company properly ifshe keeps dwelling on her pregnancy.
She doesn’t hear Archie enter the room, but then he’s besideher, his hand on her shoulder. “Hey,” he says softly. “Is everything okay?”
Betty squeezes her eyes shut, trying to will the tears shecan feel forming to retract back into her tear ducts. But then they’re spillingout, and she lets out a sob, shaking her head. Why did he have to ask? Shecould have held it together if he hadn’t asked.
He immediately wraps his arms around her, pulling heragainst him tightly. Her shoulders shake as she cries into his chest, unable tostop now that she’s started. He rubs her back, and he lets her cry until shepulls away, wiping her eyes.
“You want to talk about it?” he asks, eyes full of concern.
She isn’t planning on telling him, but somehow it just slipsout. “I’m pregnant.”
He stares at her, not sure what to say. Betty keeps talkingso he doesn’t have to say anything.
“I haven’t told Jughead yet. I just found out before you gothere and I—” she sobs again. “I should be happy. But it probably means I won’tget to go to college next year, or join you in New York.”
Archie pulls her into his arms again. “Hey, hey,” he sayssoothingly. “You have other options. And whatever you choose, I promise I’ll bethere for you. And maybe you can still go to college.”
Betty nods, and somehow, she’s comforted, even though shedoesn’t really believe what he’s saying. She could never afford a baby and college. And if she gives the babyup, or gets an abortion, Jughead will hate her forever.
But for now, she lets Archie let her believe everything isgoing to be okay.
Archie has had the ring for a while now. He’s been carryingit around in his pocket, waiting for the right time.
But he and Veronica are both finished college now, and hehas a bit of money saved, despite buying the ring. Veronica now owns a Pop’sand speak easy in three locations, and Archie is getting gigs almost everyweekend, plus his day job selling furniture.
They’re in Riverdale for the weekend, for theirgoddaughter’s fifth birthday. Archie can hardly believe little Matilda Jones isready for school already. Betty and Jughead throw a little party for her atAlice’s house, and afterwards, Archie and Veronica take a walk along SweetwaterRiver.
And suddenly Archie can’t think of a better time or place todo it. In the town they fell in love, where Archie hopes the can raise childrenand grow old together someday.
“They looked so happy. I’m going to be honest, I didn’tthink Betty and Jughead would even last this long,” Veronica is saying. “I’mhappy to be proven wrong—” she cuts herself off when she sees Archie loweringhimself to the ground on one knee. “What are you doing?” she asks, eyes wide.
“Ronnie,” Archie says, pulling the ring box out of hispocket. “From the moment I saw you, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of mylife with you. We’ve had our share of ups and downs, but there is no one I’drather have by my side than you. Will you do me the honour of becoming mywife?”
Veronica stares at him. She stares so long, and without asmile, that Archie begins to feel anxious.
“Ronnie?” he prompts, nervous. He swallows.
“Archie…” she starts, her voice soft and sympathetic.Archie’s stomach sinks. He stands up, trying not to let his eyes betray thehurt he feels. “I’m sorry,” Veronica continues. “I just… I’m not ready to getmarried yet. I don’t want to break up, and I still love you… but marriage?” she balks. “I… can’t give youthat kind of commitment.”
Archie nods, clenching his jaw. “I get it,” he says, thoughhe’s not quite sure he does. But what else can he say? He doesn’t want to breakup either. But he really wants to get married one day. And what if Veronicanever gets there? He doesn’t voice his thoughts out loud though.
“I’m really sorry, Archiekins. We should have talked aboutthis, I should have realised you would want to propose soon.”
“Ronnie, it’s okay. I’m just… I just need a minute.”
Veronica nods. “Should we go back to your dad’s?”
“Yeah,” Archie says. “Yeah.”
He goes up to his old room when he gets back, and Veronicastays downstairs with Fred to give Archie some alone time. He shuts the doorbehind him, and when he looks up, his eyes lock with Betty’s through thewindow. She seems surprised to see him, but she smiles and waves. Archie wavesback, but he can’t bring himself to return the smile.
Betty reaches for her phone, and moments later Archie gets atext.
Everything okay?
Archie looks up. He shakes his head. Betty turns back to herphone, and then his phone is ringing, Betty’s name on the screen. He smiles tohimself as he answers.
“What’s wrong?” Betty asks immediately.
“It’s too embarrassing,” Archie sighs.
“You can tell me anything.”
“I proposed to Veronica and she said no.”
Betty winces. “Ouch.”
“I’m such an idiot.”
“Don’t say that,” Betty scolds. “She’s the idiot if shedoesn’t want to marry you. Any girl would be lucky to have you as a husband.”Archie snorts. “I’m being serious!”
“So you’d marry me if you didn’t already have a husband?”
“You know I would.” Betty chews her lip. “She’ll change hermind.”
Archie nods. He hopes Betty is right.
“Love you,” she says.
“Love you too, Betty.”
Betty is pregnant again. This time, it’s planned. Eightmonths ago, it had seemed like a great idea. Matilda wanted a sibling, Bettyand Jughead were both ready for another child. Jughead had just finished hisnovel and was sending it off to publishers. The Serpents had been drama freefor a year.
But Jughead had received nothing but a string of rejectionletters. It hit him hard. And at first, he was just having a drink or two tolet off some steam. But now…
Well, it’s 2am and Betty hasn’t seen him in hours. And sheknows there wasn’t a Serpent meeting because Cheryl has been posting picturesof her date night with Toni on her Instagram story. Betty hasn’t been a part ofthe Serpents since she gave birth to Matilda.
Betty can’t help but worry. He’s been drinking more andmore, and it’s getting harder and harder to hide from Matilda. She was askingfor her dad when Betty tucked her in earlier, and it made Betty’s heart ache.
There’s a crash at the front door, and Betty sits boltupright in bed. The front door slams, and she can hear Jughead banging around, making no effort to be quiet. She winces when he kicks open the bedroom doorand flicks the light on.
“Would you be quiet?” Betty hisses. “Your daughter isasleep.”
“I’m going to wake her up,” Jughead says, turning around.
“Don’t you dare!” Betty snaps. “I don’t want her to see youlike this.”
Jughead stops in the doorway, turning just his head to lookat Betty. He’s wearing a cold sneer on his face. “Like what?”
“You know what.”
“Like what, Betty!” he growls.
Betty flinches. She hates him like this. He never getsviolet, but he gets mean. “Drunk,” she snaps. “You’re awful when you’re drunk.”
“Oh, I’m awful, am I? Well excuse me for trying to have agood time now and again.”
“Now and again?” Betty repeats, incredulous. “You’ve beenout late drinking every night for the past two weeks! Do I need to remind youthat you have a daughter and a pregnant wife at home waiting for you?”
Even in his drunken state, Jughead has the decency to looksheepish at that.
“You have to stop, Jug,” Betty pleads. “Don’t become thefather you hated when you were growing up.”
Those words seem to trigger something inside him. Hesoftens, walks towards her with apologetic eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers, kneeling on the ground beside thebed. He puts his hand on Betty’s swollen stomach. “I’ll quit, I promise.” Hekisses Betty’s stomach. Then he stands up and crawls into bed beside her, noteven bothering to undress. Within minutes, he’s snoring beside her.
She picks up her phone and continues her conversation withArchie.
He’s home. Thanks for keeping me sane. Xx
Archie wants to think he’s crazy, paranoid. But he’s beensuspecting something for a while now, and every time Veronica tells him she’sworking late, or she’s out with friends, he can’t shake the feeling that she’slying to him. That there’s someone else.
He hasn’t said anything, because he keeps convincing himselfhe’s wrong. It’s just his imagination. He doesn’t want her to think he doesn’ttrust her. And even if it’s true… well, he’s not sure he’s ready to face thatyet.
But she’s not here again, and he’s lonely, he’s been lonelyfor months, so he picks up the phone and calls Betty. He doesn’t want to say itout loud, but he can’t bear the thoughts inside his own head anymore. And Bettywill talk him down, reassure him that everything is fine. Veronica can’tpossibly be cheating on him.
“What’s up, Arch?” she answers.
He hesitates. He doesn’t want to burden her with hisproblems if she’s having problems of her own.
“How’s—how’s Jughead?”
“He’s good,” Betty says. “It’s been two months since hislast relapse, and he started writing again. Something new.”
“That’s great, Betty. And the girls?”
“They’re great too,” Betty says. Her voice always growsfonder when she talks about her daughters. She loves them so much.
“I’m glad.”
“Arch?” Betty says, and she sounds a little concerned now. “Iseverything okay?”
Archie shakes his head, though Betty can’t see him. “I think—Ithink Veronica might be cheating on me.”
Betty doesn’t say anything.
“I’m just being crazy, right?” Archie asks.
“I don’t know, Arch,” Betty whispers. Not what Archie wasexpecting. “I mean, if you feel like something’s wrong… maybe something iswrong. Even if the thing that’s wrong isn’t that she’s cheating. But you shouldtalk to her about it.”
“You think?”
“Yeah, I mean… don’t like, accuse her of cheating. But lether know you’re unhappy. That you feel like something is off.”
Archie swallows. “I really thought you’d tell me I was beingparanoid.”
“Trust your instincts, Arch. They’re usually pretty good. And you know I’m always on your side, right?”
“I know.”
The talk ends in a fight. And the fight ends in Veronicaadmitting it. She’s cheating on him. And even though Archie has suspected itfor months now, the truth kills him.
He feels like a complete fool. He should have ended it whenshe said she didn’t want to marry him.
Veronica apologises over and over, tears in her eyes.
“I never meant for it to happen. I never meant to hurt you,”she tells him.
“But you did anyway,” Archie says bitterly.
She doesn’t stop him when he leaves.
Betty loves having Archie back in Riverdale, though shehates the circumstances that brought him back. He seems sad about Veronica, buthe also seems happier in some ways too. She knows he always saw himself comingback here someday.
She sees him a lot now, and he loves looking after Matildaand Alison so that she can have a bit of a break from her ten-year-old and her five-year-old.She loves them to bits, but to say they’re a handful is an understatement.
The four of them, Betty, Archie, Matilda, and Alison, are ontheir way back from a trip to the movies. Jughead had been supposed to come, but last-minute Serpent issues had arisen. Betty has long since stopped caringabout anything Serpent related.
They’d had to drive a couple hours, to the closest cinemathey have these days. It’s way past the girls’ bed time, and they’ve bothfallen asleep in the back seat. Betty and Archie talk quietly in the front, soas not to wake them.
When Archie drops them back at Betty and Jughead’s, Jughead stillisn’t home. Betty’s stomach sinks. She tries not to think the worst. Shecarries Alison to bed, while Archie carries Matilda.
“Thanks, Arch,” Betty whispers.
“I’ll see you… tomorrow, probably,” Archie laughs. Heglances to the door. “Do you want me to stay until Jughead gets home?”
Betty hesitates. She shakes her head, even though she doeswant him to stay a little bit. But if Jughead has fallen off the wagon again,it’s probably best if she deals with it alone. Archie nods, and Betty gives hima goodbye hug. It’s at that moment that Jughead chooses to make an appearance.
The front door swings open, and Betty can already smell thathe’s been drinking. She tenses, and Archie is stiff beside her.
“What are you doing here?” Jughead slurs, glaring at Archie.
“Just dropping your wife home.”
“You’ve been spending an awful lot of time with my wifelately.”
“Jughead, stop it,” Betty snaps. “Go and take a shower. Don’twake the girls.”
“Fuck off, Betty,” Jughead snarls. “Don’t tell me what todo.”
Betty flinches, and she can feel Archie get his hackles up.
“And you can fuck off too, Archie,” Jughead adds.
“I’m not leaving her with you like this.”
“Get out of my house, Archie!” Jughead yells. He goes toshove Archie, but Archie doesn’t back down, and Jughead stumbles back.
“Betty,” Archie says. “You and the girls should stay with metonight.”
“That might be best,” Betty agrees. She goes to move towardsthe girls’ bedroom, and Jughead grabs her by the arm, squeezing tightly, pressing bruises into her upper arm.
“No,” he says.
“Jug,” she says. “Let me go. You’re hurting me.”
“Let her go, Jughead.”
Jughead glares at Archie. He takes a swing, stumbling overhis own feet, hitting Archie, and elbowing Betty in the face in the process.
“Fuck!” he yells, shaking out his hand. Betty clutches herface. “Betty,” Jughead says. “I didn’t mean to hit you. I’m sorry.” He soundsweak and pathetic now. Tears form in his eyes, and Betty can feel herselfcrying as well. She stares at him in shock. He hadn’t meant to hit her, sheknows that. But she can’t trust that we won’t accidentally do something worseone day. Like hit one of the girls.
She knows this is it. With one glance at Archie, he knows ittoo.
“Are you okay?” Archie asks. Betty nods. “Get the girls.”Betty nods again, hurrying to the bedroom. She wakes them quickly, and theyfollow her sleepily out of the house and to Archie’s car.
“Betty, wait!” Jughead calls after them. “I’m sorry. I swearit won’t happen again.”
Archie slides into the driver’s seat.
“Betty—”
“Just drive, Archie,” she says, swallowing her tears.
She’s awake early, in her old bedroom at her mom’s house.Archie had dropped her off last night, and she’d cried into her mom’s armsuntil three in the morning.
She gets up, glancing out the window to see that Archie isawake too. She gestures for him to meet her outside.
They stroll along the street, no destination in mind.
“Are you going to go back to him?” Archie asks.
Betty shakes her head. “I’ve tried too many times, Arch. Ifhe can sober up, I’ll let him see the girls. But he and I are done.”
“I’m sorry.”
Betty shrugs. “I think it’s been coming for a long time.”
“Did you ever think this is where we’d be at thirty? Back inRiverdale, living with our parents?” Archie snorts.
“God,” Betty laughs. “Not at all. I guess life doesn’talways work out like you planned.”
“It’s not all bad though,” Archie muses. “At least I’vestill got my best friend.”
Betty smiles. “Yeah. Thank you, Arch.”
“What for?”
“Being my anchor. No matter what I’ve been through, you’realways there to ground me.”
Archie grins. “Back at you.”
He slips his hand into hers and gives it a squeeze.
“Pop’s?” Betty suggests.
“I thought you’d never ask.”

Pairing: Harry Potter x Reader
Word Count: 3.393
Warnings: Not edited, I changed a bit from the original story. I wrote this by memory. Trigger warning: baby loss. I don’t know what it feels like, nor the emotional pain of the loss, so I’ve you’ve been through this, please understand this.
A/N: First of all, I’m not sure if magic actually works the way I wrote but screw it. I had to change the timeline a bit, and also I tried avoiding certain scenes because, if you’re reading this, I’m assuming you already read the books and/or watched the movie so it’s unnecessary. It’s also the first fic I wrote about Harry Potter since I took my break, and I haven’t rewatched the movies nor reread the books in a while so please be patient.
Enjoy!

The war had started out of a sudden. The lives of innocents were being taken, and there was no place left to hide. It was terrifying. The world was covered in a darkness that - they feared - would never fade away.
Mothers hid their children behind the walls, up in their attics and some of them even sent them away. Muggleborns slept with one eye open, fearing that death would come at any time, and even pure-blooded families feared that they would be forced to join the Dark Lord’s side.
During the last nights of peace - fake peace - Harry had tried drowning his sorrow in alcohol, for it was the only thing that could cover up reality, replacing it with wonderous visions of the pink-coloured life he wished for.
There was a waitress, who appeared once Harry was absolutely drunk. She was beautiful as a lily, and had the fearless attitude of a lion. She’d laugh at Harry’s jokes, and always talked from a clever point of view.
It was inevitable for them to, eventually, end up together in one of those rooms the Leaky Cauldron rented for passerby witches and wizards.
Their lips found each other’s when the sun was starting to come out. Harry had drunk all night long, and she had been his company throughout the whole process. She was comprehensive, and had a deep attachment to the boy who lived, because she saw him not as a saviour but as a poor fellow who had the weight of the world on his shoulders.
She was about to leave - her shift was over - when Harry managed to grab her arm. She looked down at the drunken boy, all sweaty and blushed.
“Stay with me,” he whispered, “Stay with me, I don’t want to…”
“To what, Harry?” She inquired, knowing exactly what he meant.
“To die.”
She knew what he meant. It didn’t involve Voldemort, nor a Death Eater, nor anything anyone else could think of; he meant die by his own hand. He was too young to live with that pressure, yet he managed somehow to survive each year… But, during the past nights, with all the events going on, he had considered the easy way out - easy for someone whose loved ones’ lives didn’t depend on them - and she knew it, she knew it because he confessed it night after night, between whispers and tacky jokes. She knew it, because he had told her more than once, not only with words but with actions, glances and silent tears.
“I’m taking you to your room,” She said, helping him up and then guiding him to the upper floor and then to his room.
Harry allowed her to drag him around the place. She made him sit on his bed and take his shoes off, she placed a bucket by the side of the bed, just in case, and closed the curtains to avoid the sun from leaking in.
“You don’t have to do that,” Harry observed. His tongue was clumsy, due to the alcohol he had consumed.
“I know,” She replied, turning to look down at him.
“Are you going to stay?” He asked, giving her the best puppy eyes he, under the effects of alcohol, could do.
“No, I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“I’m your waitress, that’s all.”
“I thought we were friends,” Harry chuckled sadly.
“Only at night… You ask, I pour, you drink, I listen… That’s how it works.”
“What about day time?”
“Huh?”
“You said we were friends at night, what about day time?” Harry insisted, trying to get up from bed.
“During day time, we don’t know each other,” She answered, as she pushed Harry back to the bed.
“I think we should get to know each other,” Harry slurred and kissed her softly.
His lips were dry and he tasted of gin and that frisky potion he decided to try that night. There was also a slight taste of salt and something else - the taste of warmth.
“Stay with me, please, just today,” Harry begged over her lips.
And so she stayed.
That night, when she returned to work, Harry was no longer at his usual table at the corner. The clerk told her that two wizards had gone to look for him an hour after she left his room and had taken him to a secret location.
“He was too exposed here, I suppose,” The clerk commented.
“He was,” She nodded and got to work, willing to forget about that black haired boy.
Two months later, the whole Wizarding World was out of control. There were Death Eaters all over the place, killing innocent mudbloods and recruiting young purebloods to their army.
(Y/N) had managed to stay out of the radar by pretending to be a muggle; she had moved to a muggle restaurant to continue working as a waitress, had hidden away every magical artifact inside an enchanted trunk that was supposed to cover all magic traces.
She lived like that for a whole month. Just when she thought she was going to make it past the war, somebody knocked on her flat’s door.
She opened, fearing the person on the other side was an enemy, and was surprised to see three strange looking teenagers. One had titanium blonde hair and quirky eyes, the other one was a red haired with her face covered face, and the third was the only male in the group, with chubby cheeks and dark hair.
“We need your help,” he spoke.
“Who are you?” (Y/N) inquired, although she was certain to have seen them around.
“We’re Potter’s friends,” the blonde one said, “he told us you could help.”
“Help with what?”
After a very short explanation and a lot of begging, the three kids convinced her to go back to the magic world and help them take care of refugees. She knew the Diagon Alley like the palm of her hand, and so she could be plenty helpful for them.
When she returned, she couldn’t help but notice how changed everything was. The only colour out on the Diagon Alley was coming from the Weasley Twins’ store, and yet it looked brim and dying.
She got to work with Aberforth Dumbledore, helping refugees to cross from Hogsmeade to the Alley and back to the muggle world, and vice versa. It was dangerous, but it was required for her fellow witches and wizards to be safe.
One particular night, the boy who lived returned to the Leaky Cauldron, followed by his two best friend, Ron and Hermione. Neither (Y/N) or the clerk knew why exactly they had returned there, knowing it would be the first place where Death Eaters would look for him.
“I need to get back to Hogwarts,” he explained to the clerk. (Y/N) was hiding in the back, eavesdropping on the conversation.
“Well, you’ve come to the right place, but we must be quick before the Death Eaters know you’re here,” the clerk urged, “(Y/N)! Prepare the portrait.”
“(Y/N)?” Harry gasped, “Last time I heard from her, she had escaped the magic world.”
“Well, she’s back, and she’s been very helpful.” The clerk shrugged his shoulders and turned around to go look for (Y/N), who hadn’t replied instantly.
“Is (Y/N) the waitress you told us about?” Ron asked in a whisper.
“I’m afraid so,” Harry answered.
“You think she hates you?” Ron asked again.
“Why would she hate him? He did nothing wrong, and I’m sure she’s absolutely comprehensive about the situation,” Hermione defended.
“Well, I’m just asking, you know how girls get when..:”
“When what?” Hermione interrupted Ron.
“Nevermind,” Ron sighed.
“NEVERMIND! Are you serious? You think us girls get all weepy for you guys because your ego is so inflated that…”
“STOP!” Harry exclaimed, “This is no time for discussing, and if you raise your voice once more we are risking to be heard from the outside.”
“You’re right, sorry,” Hermione apologised.
“I’m sorry,” Ron mumbled and then both of them fell into an absolute silence.
The clerk returned to the trio. “She’ll be out in a second, she’s just not feeling well.”
“I told you,” Ron whispered and Hermione elbowed his ribs. “Ouch!”
“What do you mean? Is there anything we can do?”
“No, it’s fine, she’s just… I don’t know, she’s been feeling sick lately, but I guess it’s just the stress from the war and all that,” the clerk dismissed.
“All right,” Harry nodded.
(Y/N) went out with a loud exhalation and Harry instantly locked his eyes to hers. She smiled just like she did whenever her shift started and had to go to Harry’s table.
“Hey, Potter,” she greeted and moved past the bar and to a portrait of an old witch that was hanging in the further wall.
“Hey, (Y/N)” Harry greeted as well and followed her.
(Y/N) started talking to the old hag, who was asleep. Waking her up was no easy task, and that was the exact reason why that portrait was picked to work as a secret passage - there was no way a stranger could open it.
“Another one!” The witch complained.
“Three, actually,” (Y/N) muttered.
“Why? WHY? I was dreaming of being saved by Sir Cadogan and you woke me up to help three intruders into the town!”
“Shhh!” (Y/N) begged, “Please, it’s very important for us to get your help.”
The witch crossed her arms in front of her and closed her eyes, as an attempt to ignore them. (Y/N) turned back to the trio, apologetically, “She’s been doing this lately, but she’ll agree soon,” she explained.
“I won’t, not this time,” the old hag snapped back, opening only one eye.
“We must hurry,” the clerk rushed and took a chance into convincing the witch.
Suddenly, the main door got blown away by a very powerful spell. Five Death Eaters marched inside, with their masks on and their wands aimed. Without further notice, a small battle started. Rays of light hit the walls and floors, destroying whatever they touched.
The golden trio had taken the front row, defending themselves and (Y/N) and the clerk from the curses casted by the Death Eaters, and throwing counter attacks in an attempt to stop them.
“I’ll fix this, you go help,” the clerk ordered (Y/N). He was a squib, and so he couldn’t do much but try to convince the witch to let them through.
(Y/N) took her wand out, something she hadn’t done in a long time, and started casting basic spells. She was out of practice, and her spells weren’t quite as powerful, and yet she was a big help to the trio, for she was a good distraction.
“AVADA KEDAVRA!” One of the Death Eaters casted towards (Y/N), and hit her right in the belly. Harry, Hermione and Ron instantly turned their focus to the poor girl, and this was taken as an advantage by the Death Eaters, who vanished in a matter of seconds.
(Y/N) fell on her back and began to breathe heavily. She became pale and started sweating, and Harry quickly reached to her, wrapping her in his arms.
“Why isn’t she dying?” Ron inquired. That spell was known to work for an instant kill.
“I don’t know,” Hermione replied.
(Y/N) screeched in agony, and then looked down. A pool of blood was growing between her legs; the spell had done its job, except it had taken someone else’s life.
“No, no, no, no,” (Y/N) cried as she realised what had happened.
“We must take her to a hospital,” Hermione commanded, kneeling by her side.
Harry was speechless, crying with (Y/N), feeling deep inside that the baby could’ve been his.
“Hogwarts has a working nursery, you must take her with you,” the clerk spoke. Hermione noticed the witch from the portrait was gone. “She’s asking for entry, don’t worry. Take (Y/N) with you.”
“Who’s going to protect you? Those Death Eaters noticed the portrait, they will come back for you.” Ron said.
“I will leave as soon as you cross, and the witch won’t return after crossing you, that was her condition for this one favour,” The clerk solved.
The witch came back and opened the portrait. Behind it, there was an empty passageway. Harry carried (Y/N) in his arms, for she had fainted, and ran inside. “Thank you,” he said, “I’ll make sure she’s safe,” and with that he disappeared into the darkness.
“Please, run away,” Hermione begged, “you’ve been of great help, we will never forget it. Thank you.” She followed Harry.
Ron handed the clerk some smoke bombs from the Weasley store, “these will give you extra time,” he said and followed his friends after thanking him. The clerk shut the portrait immediately.
They would find out later that he got killed when trying to escape the Leaky Cauldron. There were Death Eaters behind the main door, who attacked him right after he opened it. His body couldn’t be retrieved.
When (Y/N) woke up, she was at the Great Hall. It had been a long time since she had even been to Hogwarts, and it was extremely different.
The blonde girl that had asked her to help them was by her side. She introduced herself as Luna, and tried to explain to her what had happened during the time after her fainting.
The war had unleashed, and she had to be taken to the Great Hall, to make sure she was taken care of. Madame Pomfrey had put a spell on her to sleep for as long as her body healed, and therefore nothing else could wake her up.
“Where’s Harry?” (Y/N) asked.
“I don’t know, but I’m afraid he’s done something silly,” Luna said, in the most serious voice tone anyone would ever hear in her.
(Y/N) took a look around. There were plenty of corpses and injured kids around her, and the least damaged ones were helping them to heal their wounds and retrieve the bodies. She could hear and see the teachers she had known before crying over their dead students, friends and families mourning deaths while wrapping bandages around bloody limbs. The dark lord had been “kind” enough to give them time to get back up.
(Y/N) didn’t think twice. She got up from the floor, ignoring her still aching womb, and started helping everyone she could. She felt terrible for not being able to help during the war.
“Everyone come out!” A voice cried from the Great Hall’s door, and they all obeyed.
Lord Voldemort was leading his troupe to the Main Entrance. They weren’t wearing masks, and (Y/N) could recognise some faces from afar for being regular clients at the Leaky Cauldron, clients who had been nice to her. Hagrid was carrying something in his arms, and everyone around (Y/N) started mumbling suggestions about what that could be.
It was Harry.
“Harry Potter is dead!” Volvermort exclaimed, and burst into laughter. His Death Eaters followed along, as McGonagall cried out a loud “NO!” that surprised all of her students, for she hadn’t ever done such sound before. (Y/N) burst into tears, along with everyone else.
He was the boy who lived. They all risked their lives to save him, and defeat the dark lord, and it had all been in vain. A good man, friend, lover, was gone and the enemy had succeeded.
For (Y/N), Harry’s death meant she had to overcome not only the death of her child, but also the death of said child’s father.
Voldemort gave a strange speech, which (Y/N) ignored completely, for she was too focused in her sorrow to even listen to anything else. However, she did notice Neville Longbottom walking forward to the army of Death Eaters, who mocked him carelessly.
“I want to say something,” he said, and Voldemort allowed him to continue. “It doesn’t matter that Harry is gone, people die every day. Friends, family… Yeah, we lost Harry tonight, but he’s still with us in here,” he pointed to his heart, “and so is Fred, Remus, Tonks, all of them. They didn’t die in vain, but you will, cause you’re wrong!”
(Y/N) zoned out once more, she swore to have noticed Harry’s chest moving from afar.
“For all of us!” Neville finished and Harry jumped out of Hagrid’s arms. (Y/N) lost her breath, just like everyone else, whose faces turned into smiles.
The war started again, except this time was a bit less violent for tons of Death Eaters vanished in the act, fearing to be on the wrong side.
(Y/N) fought with all her might, teaming up with strangers against the remaining Death Eaters. There was hope in everyone’s eyes, hope that they might win the fight after all. Harry was alive, and just like the prophecy claimed, he would end the Dark Lord’s reign of horror.
Everything afterwards was blurry. Blinded by adrenaline, (Y/N) fought her way back to the Main Entrance, and then Harry faced Voldemort and succeeded. They had won, the Battle was over.
They had to retrieve a couple more bodies, and heal lots of new wounds, but the vibes in the castle had changed from what (Y/N) woke up to. There were, of course, people still mourning but there were also some that celebrated their victory.
Some were tired of fighting and wanted to get back home, some others found nothing else to do but dance without any music at all, and laugh at whatever they could, trying to feel alive and happy again.
(Y/N) sat at one of the tables, she had just finished wrapping a young girl’s arm. She had tried to stop a curse with it, and ended up with a big, opened wound.
Harry’s eyes met hers, and so he walked towards her and sat by her side.
“How are you feeling?” He asked.
“I woke up to a battle, I used illegal curses against one of my favourite customers because he turned out to be a Death Eater, I’ve wrapped around twenty different wounds and helped a kid find her mother… I’m just overwhelmed.” She said and Harry chuckled, “But of course, nothing compares to dying and then coming back to life and fighting with Lord Voldemort and actually getting to kill him.”
“It was nothing, really,” Harry joked, and (Y/N) giggled.
“It feels weird to laugh about it,” she mumbled, “it feels weird to even say his name without fearing he’ll come back… because he won’t, right?”
“No, I’m afraid not,” Harry said, looking around him.
“What’s on your mind, Potter?”
“I just can’t stop thinking about what happened at the Leaky Cauldron,” he whispered, “I mean, you are here, talking to me after being hit by a killing curse.”
“Maybe I’m a ghost,” she joked sadly.
“It’s surreal,” he said, “the fact that the baby protected you with this mother and baby bond… It’s basically what happened to me when Voldemort killed my parents.”
“Like father like son, then,” She muttered, “except this time the baby saved the mother.”
“So it was mine,” Harry sighed.
“I’m afraid so… You were the only one I was with during this whole thing and… yeah.”
“So what comes next?” He asked.
“I don’t know,” she replied.
“We could find out together,” Harry suggested, she chuckled.
“We barely know each other, and I’m sure this is the first time I have a conversation with you being sober,” She argued.
“All right then,” he extended his hand towards her, “My name in Harry Potter, I just killed Voldemort, and I would really like to have some company right now.”
“You mean as friends?” She inquired.
“At first, yes, and if anything happens afterwards then so be it,” He solved.
(Y/N) smiled tenderly and shook his hand. “Hey, Harry, I’m (Y/N) and I’m no longer a waitress. I would also like to have some company right now.”
Harry smiled back, getting lost in her eyes for a second without separating their hands. The rest of the people around them kept on moving around, but they remained still for a couple seconds, feeling as if the world had vanished the moment they held hands.

Kiss Of Reluctance: Chapter 1) Moment Of Miscommunication
The Core Four has just arrived at the lodge cabin, up in Shadow Lake. They all got out of the car and paired off. Betty with Veronica, and Archie with Jughead.
"Wow, this is amazing V," Betty says, admiring the cabin's outside appearance.
"If you think this is impressive, wait till you see the inside," Veronica replied, grinning at her bestie. The raven Haired Princess turns towards the driver. "We'll see you at 7 P.M. on Sunday, Andre. And not a moment sooner," she reminded him, leaving no room for opposition.
The driver nodded to his boss's daughter, and turned to the red-head. "Mister Andrews, May I have a word?"
"Uh, Yeah sure what's up?" Archie turned and met the man a considerable distance from the others. He had a feeling Andre didn't want anyone to overhear their conversation.
"I just wanted to inform you that I will be sticking around. Hiram's orders," he explained when he noticed the confused look on the teen's face.
"Okay. Why are you telling me? Wouldn't it be easier for you to go unnoticed if none of us were aware of your presence."
"That's true, but you're rather impulsive. So I thought it best if at least you knew," the man answered honestly.
"Gee, thanks," Archie deadpanned.
"Come on Archiekins. We need your help with our bags," Veronica called out, getting impatient.
"Yeah, alright Ronnie! I'm coming," the red-head replied, rolling his eyes. Archie met up with the rest of the gang, grabbing the girls bags, and following behind Jughead.
"This place is certainly something, Princess," Jughead remarked with a small grin, walking into the cabin, and giving it a brief once over.
"Only the best for my friends and I," the girl responded with a proud smile. "After all we Lodges are known to go above and beyond, Jones."
"I'll say." Betty smiled at her friend. "Thanks again for inviting us on this little vacation, Veronica."
"Of course, B," Veronica replied, grinning at the blonde. "Now, the rooms are all upstairs. Archie's and I's is the first on the left, and Betty and Jughead. Yours will be the first room on the right." She gestured toward the staircase at the back of the room.
"Sounds go-" Betty was cut off by the sound of a phone ringing. They all turned to the beanie wearing teen, who was looking rather sheepish due to the interruption.
"Sorry. I'll just take this outside." He grabbed his phone from his pocket and walked out onto the porch.
"Enjoying your lovers weekend," came the voice on the other side of the line.
"Who is this?"
"It's Cheryl, you hobo," the red head replied, annoyance clear in her tone.
Jughead let out a huge sigh at the interruption. "What do you want Cheryl?"
She sounded much more cheery this time around. "I just thought I should let you know that Betty and Archie shared a kiss in my driveway over the Christmas season. And It looked pretty serious. Like with tongue serious." She smiled into her reflection, wiping some of the extra lipstick off her face. "Anyway, hope you enjoy the rest of your little getaway, ciao!" She hung up, Leaving the Jones boy in stunned silence.
The other three friends were curious, so they followed him outside. Jughead turned towards all of them, an unreadable expression on his face.
"Juggie? What's the matter?"
"That was Cheryl," Jughead replies to his Girlfriend. She said that you and Archie kissed in front of her house over Christmas break." The boy looked at the aforementioned pair, hoping to find confusion. A sure sign that the self appointed queen of their school was just screwing with him out of spite for not being invited to join them. Instead he found identical looks of guilt and on the faces of his girlfriend and best friend. Veronica's face displayed confusion. But not of ignorance of the incident, but because she thought he already knew. A hurt look spread across his face, but it disappeared as soon as it came. He scoffed and began to walk out of the cabin.
Betty ran after him. "Jug wait, it was just a spur of the moment. It didn't mean anything," the blonde explained, trying to reason with her boyfriend.
"I am not mad that you kissed him. We were broken up." Jughead sighed in frustration. "But I had asked you if anything happened with anyone while we were apart, and you lied. Even after I told you about Toni."
Betty sighed in frustration. Can't anything ever just go smoothly for them? "I didn't tell you, cause I thought you'd overreact."
Jughead grinned at her in response. "You're right Betty. I am completely overreacting." He shook his head emphatically, as if getting rid of all his misgivings. "I mean you only kissed the boy that you were completely in love with up until about 2 months ago. That shouldn't make me upset at all," Jughead finished, shooting his girlfriend a look of total disappointment.
Now Betty was the one getting angry. "So you are mad that I kissed him!!"
"No! I am not angry because you kissed someone. I'm upset because that person was Archie," Jug reasoned. "My best friend, and I like I mentioned before, the guy you were pining for not too long ago. Do you have any idea of how that makes me feel?" The look of hurt appeared once more.
Betty's eyes were glistening with  tears. " I'm so sorry Jug. I never meant to hurt you. It was just a stupid thing that happened on impulse. I promise, it'll never happen again."She was full on crying now, the blonde’s sobs causing her whole body to shake uncontrollably.
Jughead hated seeing her cry, and it didn't matter whether she was at fault or not. So he walked back to his girlfriend, and wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, resting his head on hers. Her hands came to lay upon his chest, and her body relaxed as he kept whispering soothing assurances that "it was all gonna be okay." He rubbed her back up and down. "It's fine I am not gonna let this one incident come between us."
Whatever doubt Betty had of his claims was soon crushed, as he lifted her chin with his finger, cupping her face in both hands and kissed her softly, but passionately. "So, we're good?"
He gave her a small smile in return. "Yeah, were good." The Jones boy paused for a moment. Looking deep into her eyes. "I love you Betty. I refuse to let my own insecurities get in the way of our relationship."
The girl next door smiled up at him, her eyes still glossy due to the tears she had shed. "I love you too, Juggie." She kissed him once more.
With Archie and Veronica
The other half of the group had gone up to their room, not wanting to invade on the young sweethearts.
"So Jughead hadn't known about the kiss this whole time?" Veronica asked, truly shocked that Betty had never told him. Archie had told her almost right away. Granted, he was sort of backed into a corner by Cheryl's manipulations, but still. How could Betty not tell him?
"I guess not." Archie was just as surprised as his girlfriend.
"Do you think they are going to be okay?"
"Yeah, totally." The red-head grinned at her. "Even if they break up, you know they are just gonna get back together again. They always do." He wasn't worried. Jug and Betty had already broken up at least twice in the last few months, alone. And they always seemed to be able to work it out.
Veronica thought about that for a moment. She had to say she agreed, but she also wondered what would happen if Jughead did break up with Betty, for good this time. Would he stop hanging out with the three of them, and devote all his time to the serpents? Or would he focus even more of his efforts on stopping her father's plans, now that he didn't have to worry about maintaining a relationship? Then there was Betty. Would she start to have feelings for Archie again? Did she ever actually stop in the first place? Veronica shook her head of those thoughts. No, she scolded herself internally. This was supposed to be a fun weekend away from all the crap that was happening in Riverdale. She was determined to make the best of it. Whatever tension was left between them, The Lodge was gonna put a stop to it, and Veronica had the perfect plan for how to do it.
Archie noticed that Veronica had been spacing out. "Ronnie, are you alright?" He brought her attention back to him.
"Yeah, Sorry, I was just thinking about something."
"What is it?"
She waved her hand at him dismissively. "Nothing. It's not important."
Time Skip (Night)
The Core Four were all gathered in the Lodge's huge living room, sipping on Jalapeno Margaritas. Jughead was with Betty on the couch and Archie and Veronica were sitting on the surrounding chairs. The Jones boy was questioning Veronica about her Father, and the blonde was having none of it. "Come on Jug. You said you wouldn't do this," she exclaimed, frowning at her boyfriend.
He shot her what he thought was a subtle glare, but relented nonetheless. "Fine," He huffed in frustration.
Veronica, who was watching the whole exchange, noticed the look. And she thought that this would be the perfect time for her plan. "So I'm sensing some residual tension. I'm guessing from Cheryl's random act of cruelty earlier?"The Girl leans towards the pair.
The teens in question gave her similar looks of confusion. "What? No." They both replied.
Veronica on the other hand was not going to let their denial get in the way. "Fear you not." She flashed them all a mischievous smile. "For I have the perfect antidote. Clothes off, swimsuits on."
Looks of confusion and apprehension were shared between the remaining three, but in the end, they followed along with the raven-haired mob princess anyway.
Time skip (Jacuzzi)
Betty and Jughead were already in the water on one side. Betty had her Margarita in her hand, her tongue dipping into the glass. While Archie was standing up on the other side, waiting on Veronica. After a few moments, the girl came out of the cabin, walking onto the patio with a white silk robe wrapped around her. The raven-haired princess removed the robe, and allowed Archie to guide her into the water. Both of them sitting down opposite of the other two teens.
Veronica grabbed her drink and took a sip through the straw before putting her plan into place. "So when Archie first told me about the kiss, I was upset." She glanced around the pool of water. "But I absorbed it, and now I bear no ill will toward my beau, nor my bestie," she assured, reaching her hand out to momentarily rest on Betty's shoulder, and giving a glance to the boy behind her. "But has the thought of it still haunted me sometimes? Truthfully, yes." Veronica gestured to Betty and Jughead. "And now you guys are caught up in the aftermath."
Betty's Apprehension had reached a whole new level. She had a feeling that the other girl was planning something, and didn't like where her mind was going at the thought.
On the other hand, Jughead and Archie had no idea what was going on. And were both looking on with curiosity.
"So to clear the air between us," Veronica started up again. She glanced one more at the group, the mischievous grin displayed on her face once more. "Jughead and I... should kiss." After that she took another sip of her drink, looking around to gauge the reactions of her three friends.
"What!?" Archie exasperated in shock. That definitely wasn't what he expected her to say. The red-head turned to her. "Veronica, are you nuts?"
The socialite noticed the look of disbelief. But she just shrugged it off, not really caring at the moment.
Jughead let out a small laugh and smirked at the interaction between the pair. "Now wait a minute." He stands up to face the three. "Veronica and I kissing could help too... What's the sports term Archie?" He smirked at his oldest friend. "Level the playing field," he finished with his hands on his hips.
"But you're not upset Jug?"
"No. I'm not upset." He gave his Girlfriend a look of assurance.
The Cooper girl was doubting the statement now. "Right."
"But I'm human," he reasoned. "What if something happens between us and we get into a fight? In my anger, I might use your kiss with Archie as an excuse for whatever is going on between us."
Betty seemed to actually be considering what he was saying.
"So if I were to kiss Veronica, whatever anger I might have at the potential situation would be misplaced." The Jones boy turned toward his best friend, who was still looking shocked and a little angry. "Come on Archie. It's just a stupid kiss... right?" He says, reminding the red-head of the blondes and his excuse for the incident.
Veronica was having a hard time keeping her laughter in check. It seemed Jughead was on board. Which would make this whole thing a lot easier. She stood up as well, moving to stand next to him.
The cocky smirk on Jughead's face vanished instantly.
Veronica grabbed his face. "Jughead. Don't freak out. Just trust me." She began to lean up to kiss him, but was stopped by Jughead's arms on hers pushing her back. A look of confusion crossed her features.
"Veronica, no stop." He shot her a look that shut down any attempt she would have made to go through with her scheme.
"But, I thought-"
"That I was serious?" A look of incredulousness broke out across his face. " I was kidding. I would never actually do that. I just wanted to mess with Archie a little."
"Oh," Veronica replied dumbfounded. She didn't know what else to say. To be honest, she should have expected this outcome. Jughead wasn't the kind of person to act out in spite. It was actually one of the things she admired about him. But then the other part of her, the more irrational side had started thinking of reasons why he wouldn't kiss her. Did he think she was unattractive. Her feminine wiles seem to work on every straight guy except for him. She was suddenly very self-conscious. The girl looked back up at him. Veronica never realized how tall he was. He practically towered over her, even more so than Archie. Now looking into his eyes, she noticed how blue they really were. The Girl was stuck by the realization that he was actually quite handsome. She could finally see why Toni and Betty were attracted to him. Veronica shook her head of those thoughts however. "I'm so sorry. You're right. I never should have suggested it." The girl shot him a small smile. "After all, two wrongs don't make a right." She turned away from him and sat back down next to her boyfriend, curling up into his side, and continued to sip her drink.
Jughead noticed the twin expressions of relief on his other two friend's faces. "Come on guys. Did you really think I would do that you?"
"I don't know, Jug," Archie responded with a guilty look on his face, feeling ashamed that he ever doubted his friend. "You made a pretty solid argument."
The blonde nodded in agreement. "He's right Jug." Betty also looked ashamed. "You even made me believe you were serious."
"I guess I figured that my two best friends would be able to see right through it anyway," Jughead replied, sitting back down next to his girlfriend.
After the moment faded, an awkward silence passed over the group. No one knew what to say or do next.
To be continued
That's the first chapter. Tell me how you guys liked it. It was my first time writing a romance fan-fiction, so constructive feedback is much appreciated.
Now this is going to start like the show with Bughead and Varchie as the main ships, but eventually, it'll gradually shift into A Jeronica story. I know the official name is Vughead, but I like Jeronica more. Vughead sounds similar to Bughead in my opinion.
Now I am not sure how long this story Is going to be. But if you guys keep showing me that You are interested in it, I will continue for as long as I can.
Have A great day.

She’s been staring at herself in the floor length mirror of her bedroom for the last 40 minutes, fixing invisible wrinkles and fly-aways in her nervousness. Her dress is perfect. Her shoes are perfect. Her makeup and hair are flawless. But her heart is hammering in her chest so fast she thinks it may stop. Her palms are damp, and she feels like she might burst open right there from the agonizing anticipation. She wants tonight to be just as perfect as her ensemble, for his sake, for getting back to normal, or as close as it can get.
“Mija, your date is here!”
She takes a deep breath, make that a couple, doing one last look over herself in the mirror where her shimmery black, purple, and indigo strapless dress looks amazing in her bedroom lighting. She grabs the matching pashmina and clutch from the ottoman at the foot of her bed, the silvery jewels on the little purse bringing her a little joy every time she sees them, before she’s walking out the bedroom door in a subtle cloud of perfume.
He’s nervously adjusting his purple bow tie that she bought him when she enters the living room, his dark suit just a little ill-fitting in certain places, but overall he wears it well, and the effect is still as staggering as the first time she saw him all put together.
She does a better job of hiding her awe of him than he does of her, his strong mouth hanging open and amber eyes wide. She vaguely registers the chirping of a phone camera off in the periphery, no doubt her mother somewhere in a corner not-quite-pretending to be discrete.
“Well don’t you look like a regular Don Drapper, Archiekins?” She’s smiling brightly up at him, leaving two feet of space between them so he has the room to admire her dress some more.
“You look amazing, Ronnie,” he replies, holding out a plastic container of what she knows to be a white calla lily corsage with a deep purple bow.
She holds out her arm, eyes still locked on his face when he understands he’s to put it on her, fumbling for a second with the container before he’s slipping it neatly, albeit backwards, onto her wrist. She’ll fix it later when he isn’t looking.
“Alright, get together you two!” Her mom makes herself known again, shaking her phone at them, posing them this way and that, before Veronica is pulling Archie out the front door while her mom is shouting her curfew to them.
In the elevator, he takes her hands between his, both clammy, while her clutch is tucked up under her arm.
“I mean it, Ronnie, you look so perfect. How did I get so lucky?”
He’s looking at her like she’s responsible for the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and every damn celestial ball of gas up in the sky, and she wants to bottle him up to keep him looking at her like this forever. Leaning over to kiss him, her stained lips meet his chapped ones softly and sweetly, lingering as long as the steel elevator doors are closed and his hands are slipping up to cup her face, while she’s thinking No, how did I get so lucky?

Request: Yes or No
Archie's gaze shifted from his girlfriend to the three sitting by the window. There you were, sporting your baseball jeresy that complimented your body. You laughed at something Chuck said, replying with something that made him and Reggie laugh even harder. He was curious. What had you said? What had made such a wonderful sound escape your lips? You turned your head, eyes searching for the person who's gaze burned into your side. Your eyes settled on Archie and your smile fell flat. You gave him a small nod, shifting your attention back onto your buddies.
"-kins? Archiekins?" Fingers came into view as they snapped. Archie blinked, looking back at Veronica.
"Huh? Sorry, what were you saying?" Veronica rolled her eyes, flicking her hair over her shoulder.
"What's gotten into you? You've been so... Spaced out lately." Veronica said, frown etched onto her face. Archie shook his head, offering her an apologetic smile.
"Sorry, Ronnie, my mind is still in summer mode." Archie said, resting his arms on the table. It wasn't a lie. His mind kept replaying a certain night that summer. A night where you and Archie had bonded. A night where he spilled out all his insecurities and you listened with patience. A night where he forgot about Veronica, Betty, the gangs, the drugs, football because all his attention was on you and jesus your lips were so soft. Archie licked his dry lips, missing your kiss. He could sometimes still smell your cologne in his car. It triggered the memory each time. Archie looked at Veronica and his body filled with guilt. He had cheated on her.
"What?" Veronica asked softly, a smile on her face. Archie leaned in, kissing her.
"Oh my fucking god.." Your breathy laugh got his attention in a second. You were shaking your head at Reggie who had a disappointed look on his face. Reggie abruptly left the student lounge and you quickly went after him. Archie frowned, watching you leave. He didn't catch the guilty look on Veronica's face.
"I'll go check on him." He said, mistaking her guilt for concern. Archie stood, leaving the lounge and seeing you by the water fountains, rubbing Reggie's arms. The ginger jogged over, glancing at you before placing a hand on Reggie's shoulder.
"You okay, Reg?" Archie asked. Reggie nodded, avoiding eye contact. You dropped your arms, choosing to cross them as Reggie ruffled up his locks.
"I'm gonna head home. I'll see you two tomorrow." Reggie said, a defeated tone in his voice as he walked off. You watched him go, waiting for him to be out of sight before looking at Archie. He couldn't help but smile.
"Hey.." He greeted softly, staring into your (E/C) eyes. You blew a raspberry, shifting from one foot to the other.
"How ya been?" You asked, cringing a bit. Archie chuckled, shrugging.
"Good. I, uh, I've been thinking.." Your brow rose slightly.
"About?"
"What happened that night." Archie watched you sigh and glance away.
"If you're here to say that it was a mistake, I ge-"
"What? No, no! Not at all! I don't regret it."
"Don't regret what?" Your eyes flickered to someone behind him. Archie sighed softly, spinning on his heel to face Veronica.
"I accidentally got him hooked to a video game during break, sorry." You shrugged, giving her a smile. Veronica laughed, shaking her head.
"Damn, now not only do I have to compete with football, I have to compete with video games?" She playfully sucked her teeth. Archie sent a thankful look your way but you ignored it.
"Anyway, I have baseball practice and Coach Willow will eat me alive if I'm late again. See you two later!" You winked, nodding to them before walking away. Archie watched you, mind and body yearning for your attention and affection.
"He has a nice butt." Veronica mumbled, also watching you walk off. Archie shot her a small look of disbelief before realizing that a small spark of jealousy had run through him at the thought of someone, other than him, having you or thinking about you like that.
"Come on, Archiekins." She grabbed his arm, locking her arm around his and leading him back to the student lounge.
Archie stared up at the ceiling. He needed to tell someone. He sat up, grabbing his phone and walking over to his window. Betty caught his figure in the mirror as she brushed her hair and shifted, looking at him. Archie sent her a quick text, waiting for her to get it and answer. Betty tied her hair back into a ponytail, looking down at her phone and nodding. Archie let out a sigh of relief, changing into a white shirt and jacket. He slid on his shoes and quickly went down the stairs.
"I'm gonna hang with Betty for a bit!" He called, hearing a 'be safe' in return. Archie stepped out of his house, waiting a couple of seconds. Betty emerged from her house and walked over to him.
"What's wrong?" She asked, studying his face.
"Remember during summer, when me and Ronnie had that big argument and I kind of disappeared for a few hours?" Archie watched her as they started heading down the sidewalk. Betty nodded, confusion clear in her blue eyes.
"Well, I bumped into (Y/N) (L/N) and we had a few drinks. One thing led to another and... We hooked up in my car." Archie was no stranger to car hookups during the summer. They usually brought consequences. Betty stopped in her tracks, staring at him with wide eyes.
"You did what with who?!" Her jaw dropped.
"Oh my god, Archie! Does V know?" She asked. Archie shook his head, frowning as the guilt returned.
"No and.. I feel terrible about the fact that I still want (Y/N). I want him over her." Archie confessed. Betty covered her mouth, trying to process everything.
"Arch, what the hell?!" She exclaimed. The next thing that came out of her mouth made a chill run down his spine and his mind go blank.
"Oh my god, Archie, don't you know that Sweet Pea and (Y/N) are dating?!"

can you do a one shot of veronica calling archie pet names in spanish and archie trying to understand and being confused and them just being all cute n fluffy
Archie isn’t sleeping when Veronica whispers across the cool expanse of sheets for him to wake up, but he keeps his eyes shut for a few seconds longer anyway, if only because her morning sentiments are his favorite thing to hear as he leaves the dreaming world.
Archiekins, she calls him all day long, and sometimes lover boy, but in the first moments after she wakes there are other things that slip out – sweetie and baby and honey. It makes Archie feel so endeared toward her that it hurts, almost.
“Archie,” she says now, just quietly. He feels her forehead bump lightly against his shoulder – she’s still warm from sleep, and if he opens his eyes he’ll see a sight he’s glad he’s familiar with, so familiar that he can picture it perfectly against the darkness of his eyelids; the drowsy halo that seems to glow around her, her tangled hair and slightly chapped lips. Veronica in the morning is his favorite (though he knows he’ll be thinking the same thing about Veronica in the afternoon and Veronica in the evening and Veronica in the dead of night). “Cariño,” she says then, feather soft, her fingers curling around his arm. She noses her way toward his neck.
“That’s a new one,” Archie whispers back, eyes still shut. He’s not sure what it means, but it sounds beautiful coming from her lips, and that’s enough for him.
She leaves a kiss just below his jaw. “Darling,” she clarifies into his ear, and he shivers. “Amor.” He feels her push up onto her elbows now, her body coming to rest right on his, legs on either side of his hips and the sheets still tangled up over her. He imagines the sight of this – sunlight bleeding through the room and onto the clouds of white fabric wrapped around her and above him. She presses her lips to his collarbone. “My love,” she whispers against his skin.
He traces his hands up her thighs. Almost opens his eyes but wills himself to let this last as long as possible.
“Mi cielo,” she breathes against his neck. Kisses in rows up his throat. She could leave him with bruises, but her lips are light as petals. “My heaven.”
It makes Archie push one breath out, fast and heavy. His hands grip her legs a little tighter and he thinks of answered prayer.
“Mi alma,” she hums, kissing her way across his jawline. He thinks she wants to inscribe the words across his skin, she says them with such conviction. Presses one cheek to his and murmurs, “My soul,” against his temple. Her lips brush his cheekbone and his nose before she stops just centimeters from his lips, hovering in that miniscule negative space. For a second neither of them speaks or moves, the rise and fall of their ribs touching as they breathe.
“Te amo,” she says softly… and he knows that one.
“I love you, too,” he breathes out, and opens his eyes to the light.

this one’s dark, kids! quick warning for: underage drinking, drug use, and the most angst
10. “I might have had a few shots.”
44. “I don’t know why I’m crying.”
65. “Look at me—just breathe, okay?”
i. Archie gets released from prison on a Thursday.
The entire process takes about three months- all of which Veronica spends collecting evidence to absolve him of murder charges alongside Jughead and Betty, when she isn’t moving her boxes of things out of the Pembrooke and into Thornhill. It’s twelve weeks of sleeplessness, of bottomless cups of Cheryl’s unbearably strong coffee, of rushing out of the house in the morning with her hair knotted into a bun at the top of her head and barely any makeup on.
Somehow, her and Betty moving into the Blossom Manor at the same time leads to their wardrobes being jumbled, so Veronica finds herself wearing Betty’s pastel blouses and white Keds as often as she does her signature collared dresses. On one notable occasion, she shows up to the Sheriff’s station wearing a knotted up t-shirt that turns out to belong to Jughead.
She wears Archie’s things too, of course: sleeps in his old shirts that dwarf her frame, wraps his navy cardigan around herself as a sweater, puts on his Letterman jacket and presses her nose to the collar when it’s four in the morning and she’s too wound up to sleep.
Some days, Veronica looks in the mirror and likes the person she’s becoming. Others, she catches her reflection and doesn’t even recognize herself.
But, finally, finally, Jughead’s murder board and Sierra McCoy’s legal advice prove enough to clear Archie for any crimes committed, and on the first true day of summer everyone comes to see as he walks out of the prison and into the real world.
Mr. Andrews cries. So does Betty, and Veronica even catches Jughead looking soft as she’s ever seen him when Archie wraps him up in a hug and thumps him hard on the back.
He turns to her, and Veronica means to say Archiekins, but the words get stuck in her throat and all she really manages is a stumbled “Arch-” before she’s throwing herself at him.
Archie picks her up off her feet, spinning her in wide, ridiculous circles as she laughs through her gasping tears. She presses her face into his neck, inhaling the familiar scent of him, and there’s something dangerously fragile in her chest, something threatening to crack her clean in two. She pulls back a little, and dabs at the smears of black on his shirt from her mascara-dark tears.
“I’ve missed you,” she says, and the words aren’t enough to span the miles of grief in her chest, the bottomed out terror of thinking he was going to die in that prison and she would never see him again, have nothing left except memories gone blurry at the edges and clothes that have already started to smell more like her French perfume than his familiar boy smell of sweat and cheap shampoo and Old Spice.
Fred drives them home, when everyone’s done with the worst of the crying, both of them pressed in the backseat because Veronica doesn’t want to let go of him. Not after three months without the comfort of his arm wrapped her shoulder, the furnace-like heat of him pressed against her.
Nobody ever really hugged Veronica growing up. The Lodges were the sort of family that preferred the removed elegance of an air kiss, or perhaps a congratulatory pat on the back. The first time Archie hugged her, Veronica thought she could stay like that for the rest of her life and be content. Even through the worst of Riverdale shattering around her, through murders and death and one crime after another, she always had the physical reassurance of Archie. The only boy who had ever touched her softly, like she was something precious, like she was more than just a hot piece of ass.
Veronica didn’t realize how much she had missed it, until it was gone. Some nights, when the loneliness was like a physical ache, she would blanket herself in his clothes and hug herself tightly, tapping her fingers against her own waist the way he used to. It was never the same.
So now she curls up against him, catlike, his body heat seeping into her and warming her up for the first time in what feels like years.
“How was it?” she asks that night as they lay in his childhood bed, three hours after Fred thinks she’s left. He tenses up, just a little bit, and Veronica rolls on her side to study the planes of his face, silhouetted by the pale light of the moon.
Archie shrugs as well as he can lying down, running one callused hand down her back.
“I don’t really know,” he says. “For the most part, it was okay. The other guys there left me alone. But- I didn’t know when I was going to see any of you again. That was the worst part, you know? The fear that I would spend forever in there.”
“We never would have let that happen,” Veronica murmurs, pressing a kiss to his shoulder. “Betty and I would have found a way in and busted you out in the middle of the night, if that was what it took.”
Archie huffs out a laugh. “And where would Jughead be in all of this?”
“Keeping guard, of course,” she quips, and then silence falls over them once again.
There’s something different about him, she realizes suddenly. Something older. Wiser. The boy who kissed her in a coat closet and asked her too many questions is gone, and the grief rises up in her throat before she can find a way to stop it.
Veronica doesn’t know how to put words to the loss thrumming through her bones, so she shifts on top of him instead, sliding her tongue into his mouth with a well-practiced grace. He responds immediately, sucking in a sharp breath when she sucks a mark into his neck, and there’s a satisfaction to that. She can’t say what she feels- not can’t as in won’t, can’t as in am not capable- but she can do this. She slides down on top of him fast, her fingers knotted tight in his hair, and it’s enough.
ii. Veronica thinks that things will get easier, now that Archie’s home.
After all, she’s spent months missing him, dreaming about DNA samples and murder trials and all the roads leading back to Hiram Lodge. But now Archie’s been absolved, and her father is being held without bail as he awaits his court date, and this is supposed to be the part where they live happily ever after, where they ride off into a candy colored sunset.
But, in a stunning example of Murphy’s Law, the opposite holds true.
For three months, Veronica’s tunnel vision kept her focused, blocking out anything that didn’t have to do with clearing Archie’s name. It was something almost like the New York days, when Nick would hand her a pill and everything else would disappear like a magic trick.
Now that Archie’s home, that there isn’t something urgent to be done, Veronica has time to process all that’s happened. And when she does, she realizes the part she played in her parents’ slow strangulation of the Southside, the way she drew Archie into the spider’s web of her family without any thought of the consequences.
Her and Toni get into a knock-down, drag out fight one morning at the breakfast table, where Toni calls her a rich little slut with daddy issues and Veronica fires back that she’s pathetic, jealous trailer trash.
It’s an ugly fight, and Veronica wishes she wasn’t so good at picking out people’s weak spots, at saying the worst thing she can think of with no thought of the consequences.
“You’re only with Cheryl because Jughead wouldn’t fuck you,” she drawls at one point, some small part of her enjoying the way the other girl flinches. “Tell me, do you even like her, or are you just with her because she’s rich enough to support you? Or are you still pining over Jughead?“
“You don’t even understand, do you?” Toni sneers at the end, half a bitter laugh snagging at her voice. “The damage you cause other people, the way you ruin people’s fucking lives. The only thing that matters to you is yourself and your ginger boy toy. God. You think everyone else is just a projection of your own consciousness, another person to serve her royal highness. Or are you so far up your own ass that you can’t even see that?”
“I-” Veronica starts, and then halts. “I-”
But Toni is already out the door, Cheryl close behind her, leveling Veronica with a look that betrays a genuine flash of hurt.
Shame is a familiar emotion, one that used to be reserved for New York Veronica. The Veronica that palmed Adderall from Katelyn Levine to pass her finals and spread the cruelest rumors she could think of, just for the power trip. The Veronica that woke up with vague, half-formed memories of Nick’s hands sliding up her thigh and his mouth at her neck, but never anything concrete, never anything solid enough that she could ask him what happened.
She thought that she had left that Veronica behind when she left New York, shed that skin to become someone better. That was her goal in moving to Riverdale, wasn’t it? To bury her past, to try and become a person that was genuinely good.
You failed, she thinks to herself, nudging Archie’s arm off of her at night to pace the floor of his bedroom. You hurt people. You didn’t get better, Veronica, you got worse.
She tries to explain it to Betty, the shame that stutters to life like thorns in her ribcage, but she doesn’t get it, not really. Betty, who being good comes naturally to. Betty, who takes the bad and reflects it inwards, into the bloody half-moons that arc across her palms. Veronica has always been much more keen on collateral damage.
And she can never explain it to Archie. Archie who’s good to the core, Archie who always, always tries to do the right thing, even when everything goes wrong.
By the third week, her head becomes a very dark place to live. She apologizes to Toni, and they’ve made tentative amends, but her brain keeps spiraling downards, into a place she doesn’t know the name of.
She isn’t New York Veronica, and she isn’t Veronica the Reformed, so who is she? It’s the questions she agonizes over, torturing her portion at dinner without taking a single bite and deflecting Betty’s questions over whether she’s feeling alright. Who are you? Who are you? Who are you?
“I can’t do this anymore,” she tells Archie one morning, everything in her numb. It’s just like the last time, freezing in the parking lot of the Whyte Wyrm, only this time it’s worse, because this time it feels permanent. Veronica’s never been one to do well with second chances.
They’re sitting on his front steps, the place where she first told him that she loved him, and she stumbles through her own explanation, trying not to cry.
“I’m not good,” she says, trying to verbalize the black hole that’s opened up in her chest. “Not like you, or Betty, or Jughead. I’m just not, and I can’t pretend to be anymore, Archie. You would never have gone to prison if it weren’t for me. And everything that’s happened on the Southside. I just- I ruin everything I touch.”
“Ronnie, what are you talking about?” Archie says, eyes so soft that Veronica can’t stand to look at him.
“I need some time,” she mumbles, and goes to stand up, wobbling a little in her heels.
Archie goes to grab her elbow, and she flinches, hard. He drops her arm like she’s been burned, and Veronica fights hard to keep from crying.
“Wait, Ronnie, can we please just talk about this, or something?” he asks, and now it seems like he might be the one to cry. He is so warm, and it would be so easy, to fall into his arms, to let him wipe away her tears and tell her she’s good, but it wouldn’t make it true.
She can’t keep dragging him down alongside her. And he might let her, might allow her to take his hand and bat her eyelashes and pull Riverdale’s golden boy right down into hell alongside her. She might not be Good Veronica, but she won’t allow that to be happen.
“I have to go,” she says, and doesn’t dare to look back as she walks down the pathway.
iii. It’s shockingly easy, to lapse into New York Veronica.
She never threw out her old clothes, so she pulls the darkest, tightest dress she owns out of the back of her closet and paints her makeup on thick enough that she looks like the girl she used to be. It’s a Friday night, and she wants to go out, wants to get fucked up enough to forget who she is. Or isn’t, as the case may be.
She’s rummaging through one of the still unpacked boxes for a pair of heels slutty enough to go with the dress, and a baggie of coke falls out from where it was hidden in the pocket of one of her old skirts. Veronica picks it up, considering the fine, white powder, enough for a couple good lines.
She didn’t even realize she still had it. Veronica hasn’t touched anything since the great jingle jangle incident of the fall, but it isn’t difficult to remember the girl who did drugs the way other people brushed their teeth. She glances at herself in the mirror, and the sight of her reflection is enough to make her dig out the deactivated American Excess card, no longer worth anything more than a piece of plastic.
She cuts a line on the vintage hand mirror that sits on her vanity, not caring that she’ll probably be haunted by some dead Blossom until the end of her days for the crime. She does the blow quick, and pinches her nose after, breathing hard.
Her heart rate kicks up a moment later, and Veronica’s missed the feeling, the way that coke sends her up shrieking in the night sky, like a fireworks display. It’s good enough to make her forget what the comedown is like, hollowed out and ashy.
She finishes putting on a slick of dark lipstick, almost purple in the dim light of her bedroom at Thornhill, and calls an Uber to take her to some club in Greendale.
Veronica doesn’t invite anyone out with her, this time. Josie hates her, Reggie loves Josie, and Kevin has more important things to worry about than going clubbing with someone he’s only really friends with half the time. She thinks it’s probably for the better. She doesn’t want any witnesses, this time. She just wants to forget.
The club is kind of seedy, nothing like the luxurious, dark castles she used to rule over at night, but they don’t card, and Veronica gets stranger after stranger to buy her drinks, tilting her head to one side and batting her sooty eyelashes. Flirting is like stretching an old muscle, and Veronica does it well, making polite small talk riddled with innuendo and dancing close with people whose faces she can’t see.
By the time midnight strikes she’s blackout drunk, stumbling out of the club bathroom and over to the bar with her makeup ruined and rips in her once immaculate tights.
“Can I get a double shot tequila?” she asks, fishing for the twenty stuck in the front of her bra.
The bartender is a woman, probably in her late forties, and she casts Veronicas a once-over before putting the bottle of Petron back on the shelf.
“How about a glass of water instead?” she says, placing a beer glass of water down in front of Veronica.
“I don’t like the taste of water,” Veronica says petulantly, but takes a sip anyways, almost slipping off the stool she’s perched on before righting herself.
“Okay, I’ve had the water,” she says after a moment, and the bartender lets out a long sigh but obliges, placing a double shot down on the sticky surface of the bar. Business is business, after all.
Veronica doesn’t bother with the salt or lime, just knocks both shots back, one after the other, barely gagging at the taste.
“Thanks,” she says dryly, slapping the twenty down on the table and wading back out onto the dance floor.
Someone starts dancing with her, and Veronica tries to lose herself in the sensation, but the fact of the matter is that she’s drunker than she’s been in a long, long time and still a little bit high. Her months in Riverdale have weakened her tolerance more than she expected, and suddenly she lurches away from the boy she was dancing with, tripping over herself on the way to the bathroom.
The bathroom is filthy, all fluorescent lighting and graffiti covered stalls, but Veronica doesn’t care, lurching over the toilet bowl to get violently sick. She throws up twice, the stomach bile and tequila leaving her throat raw and inflamed.
“Fuck,” she says, mostly to herself, slouching over sit on the grimy bathroom floor. Fuck.”
That’s when the bartender walks in, the same one as before, holding a pair of yellow rubber gloves and a spray bottle in her hands.
“Jesus Christ,” she says, taking in the sight of Veronica hunched over the toilet.
Veronica goes to say something, but before she can she gets sick again, and this time she starts to cry after, gasping, childish sobs.
“Okay, honey,” the bartender says, crouching down to start digging through Veronica’s purse. “Who do you want me to call for you?”
The question only makes Veronica cry harder, because there isn’t anyone to call.
“Shh, shh, it’s alright,” the woman soothes, and Veronica stumbles her way to her feet, tripping over her perilously high shoes with mascara running down her face.
She waits in the coat check, drifting in and out of sleep on a pile of the jackets people have left behind. But then she hears a voice, and God, of all the people they could have called, they had to have called him.
Archie appears in front of her, wearing that terrible pair of plaid pajama pants and a Riverdale High sweatshirt, his hair messy, like he left home in a rush. Veronica’s heart yanks painfully in her chest.
“Ronnie,” he says quietly, and his arms hang at his sides, a little helplessly.
Veronica stares into her lap and tries not to cry. “Can we go home?” she asks like a little kid, and then winces. “I mean- can you take me back to Thornhill?”
“Of course,” he says, and wraps an arm around her waist, helping her out to the car. He brought his dad’s pickup, and the engine stirs and creaks like he sped the entire way to the club.
There’s something sad on the radio, something by Springsteen, and Veronica presses her face to the glass of the window, watching as the street lamps go by.
“Veronica, are you- are you drunk?” Archie asks, sounding so earnest that she doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“I might have had a couple shots,” she says, slurring far more than someone who’s only had a couple shots.
“So,” she says, her voice cracking. “How have you been?”
It’s a terrible question, and they both know it, but she uses the silence to steal a glance over at him.
“A mess,” he says, self deprecating. “But that’s nothing new.” Color rises high in his cheeks, and Veronica realizes that he’s tapping his fingers against his thigh to the beat of the song. It’s so Archie of a gesture that she can’t help the tears that well up in her eyes, inhibitions weakened by alcohol.
“I’m sorry,” she says, quick and panicky. “I don’t know why I’m crying.”
“It’s okay,” says Archie, but her crying quickly devolves into full-blown sobs, like what happened at the club, except much, much worse, because this time it’s Archie that’s watching her fall apart.
“I’m sorry,” she repeats, through sobs. “I just-”
Archie pulls over onto the side of the road in a stunningly illegal move, and then he’s unbuckling her seatbelt, rubbing a hand up and down her back.
“Look at me—just breathe, okay?” he says, a little frantic, and Veronica tries. After a moment, a hiccup dislodges the hyperventilating, and she sucks in one deep breath, and then another.
“Veronica,” Archie says, voice serious. “Are you okay?”
“No,” Veronica says, more honest than she’s been in a long time. “Not really. Are you?”
Archie breathes something that could almost be a laugh. “Not really.”
There’s a moment of silence, and then Archie takes his hand in her own, tentatively. “I know you don’t think you’re good. And we’ve both made- a lot of mistakes. But- but you always try. You always do something. And I think you’re good, Ronnie. I do. I wouldn’t love you the way I did- the way I do if I didn’t.”
She clambers over the dashboard sit half in his lap, and she’s wearing a ripped party dress and no shoes, and he’s in pajamas, and they’re both crying a little, and really, it’s not a cherished, elegant moment, and yet it’s still the realest thing that Veronica’s ever done.

06 please!!
06. we always end up eating alone in the school cafeteria at the same time,so when you ask me if you can join me, I’m surprised
—–
It’s Thursday, a little past ten in the morning, and he’s starving. This isn’t something rare. Archie usually feels the need to eat after a grueling training session in the morning. So, there isn’t something strange in finding him in the cafeteria, picking a roast beef sandwich, a bottle of water and a chocolate chip cookie, because he’s craving something sweet.
He grabs his tray, shoulders his backpack, and moves to a spot where he can be alone. He usually uses that free hour to skim over his Music History and Ethnography notes, which is proving to be a particularly hard class for him. But then he sees Mysterious Raven-haired Princess. Again. He sees her every Thursday, at the same time, the biggest cup of coffee in front of her and two croissants as she delicately turns the pages of whatever she’s reading.
In his defense, she always seems too busy to try and talk to her, but this particular day he feels braver.
“Hey,” he mutters softly not to startle her. “Um, do you mind if I sit with you?”
She looks up, and her cat-eye glasses and dark lipstick make her look like she stepped out of a noir film. She’s stunning from up close.
“Hi,” she replies, smiling and holding her book open. There’s a pause, which scares Archie a bit, because she could very well say no – the cafeteria is almost empty – and send him away. But instead, her smile widens and she chuckles a bit, nodding as she does. “Please, join me.”
He grins as he takes the seat opposite to her. “I’m Archie.” There’s a mild attempt not to sound eager, but he knows it’s a poor job.
“Veronica.” She takes her glasses off, and puts them aside before taking her cup of coffee. “I’ve seen you around before. Same time, every Thursday.”
“Yes, I train every day, but Mondays and Thursdays I’m at the pool at seven, and the water makes me particularly hungry,” Archie babbles as he unwraps his sandwich.
“Oh, train for what?” Veronica asks with honest curiosity.
“Triathlon? Not my first choice, but I’m pretty good and it helps me with anxiety. Swimming is my weakest part of the race.” He takes a bite of his sandwich and munches on it, while Veronica keeps studying him.
“That explains a lot,” Veronica says, laughing a bit when he furrows his brow. “I see you here, eating carbs as if they were air – and I’m a bit envious about it. You also run past my dorm every evening. And two months ago, you almost ran me over with your bike. I always thought you were cute, but I was a little pissed at you.”
Archie feels his face heating up. “I… I’m sorry. So sorry,” he stutters. Isn’t it great? He messed up his chances before he even knew he had one. He swallows a barely eaten piece of sandwich, and almost chokes on it.
“Don’t worry,” Veronica says, putting a bookmark between the pages of what she was reading. “You can make it up to me.”
“Sure. You name it.”
She smiles before taking a small bite of her croissant.—–
It’s Thursday again, but this time Archie doesn’t pick food or anything, and just makes a beeline towards a table near the window. Veronica is there, her glasses in place, book opened in front of her, and soon she is kissed on the cheek by him. She giggles, and leans against him once he takes the spot next to her, wrapping an arm around her waist.
“I bought you a turkey sandwich on rye bread, and a cinnamon roll, only because I know you have a sweet tooth, Archiekins. But don’t tell your coach.”
He laughs and kisses her cheek a couple times before her lips met his.
