Hello and welcome to our video on ladder and stilt safety!
Ladders and stilts are essential tools for reaching heights and completing tasks at elevated levels. However, if not used properly, they can also be dangerous and cause serious injuries. Ladders are commonly used in workplaces and households for various tasks, but they can be hazardous if not used properly. Every year, thousands of people are injured, and some even lose their lives due to ladder accidents.
So, in this video, we will discuss some important tips and guidelines to follow for ladder and stilt safety.
Let's start with ladders. First and foremost, always make sure that the ladder you are using is the right type and size for the job. Check the weight capacity of the ladder and ensure that it can support both you and your tools. When setting up the ladder, make sure it is on a stable and level surface, and never lean it against an unstable surface such as a wall or a tree.
When climbing the ladder, maintain three points of contact with the ladder at all times – two feet and one hand, or two hands and one foot. Never stand on the top two rungs of the ladder, as this can make the ladder unstable and increase the risk of falling. Also, never overreach, as this can cause the ladder to tip over.

Safe and Reliable: Exploring the Benefits of Roof Access Stairs
In various commercial and industrial buildings, providing safe and proper access to the rooftops is crucial for maintenance, inspection, and emergency situations. The roof access stairs have become the most popular solution for ensuring secure vertical access to the rooftops. Here are the benefits, important, and features of roof access stairs.
Increased safety and compliance
Roof access stairs are essential for maintaining the wellbeing of workers because safety is of the utmost importance while accessing rooftops. These steps have a solid construction and dependable stability and are designed to exceed safety regulations. To avoid trips, falls, and slides, they have guardrails, handrails, and non-slip treads. Roof access stairs ensure a secure and lawful method of rooftop access by also adhering to construction norms and laws.
Easy to access the height
Rooftop access stairs offer a quick and convenient vertical route, doing away with the necessity for ladders or other alternative access techniques. These steps' thoughtful design allows for a comfortable ascent and descent, lowering tiredness and increasing productivity. To maximize user comfort and reduce strain, they are normally built with the ideal rise and run ratio.

You rode the subway, pulling Tara as close to your body as you could. You were surrounded by dozens of people dressed up in Halloween costumes, a good number of them being a Ghostface costume. Anytime someone in a Ghostface costume moved, Tara tensed, and you tightened your grip on her. It was a popular costume, so many people wore one every year. Actually, living out the horror movie though, made all of you not know if the Ghostface walking past you was some random guy who decided to celebrate a serial killer or if they were the real deal and a knife would be sunk into your back before you had time to blink.
Ghostface had killed Quinn, then Anika. You still hadn’t processed that, maybe if you had been quicker, had been stronger, maybe Anaika would still be alive. Anika was to kind of a person, to caring to everyone to be killed that way, to be killed at all. You felt Tara rub her hand up your back underneath your jacket causing you to snap out of your grief and look at her. She furrowed her brow at you. You didn’t have it in you to try for a smile, you couldn’t pretend around her. You tightened your jaw, frowning, dropping your eyes to the dirty subway floor. You didn’t have time to have a breakdown, there was a killer after you. Luckily Tara understood, laying her head against your chest as you wrapped a protective arm around her.
You hadn’t had time to breath since Anika’s death. You remembered looking into Anika’s eyes, her falling, her body lying on the ground. You had flashes of sitting in the back of an ambulance, Tara squeezing your hand as Mindy was patched up. You were vaguely aware when Ethan came walking up, Chad slamming him against a van. Everything was just static though. The only thing you saw clearly was the blood on your hands, Anika’s blood, not your blood. Anika’s blood. Your hands were drenched in Anika’s blood.
You had come out of your head when you heard about the plan to try and catch Ghostface. The second Tara volunteered to be bait with her sister you objected, speaking for the first time. Tara not joining in being bait was the one thing Sam actually agreed with you on. Tara didn’t leave any room for argument though, she said she was joining and walked away from the van. You chased after her, begging her to let you stay with her as she and Sam walked the park, but she refused. You were dragged back to the van by Mindy who refused to let go of your hand.
You weren’t sure how Mindy didn’t hate you. How none of them hated you. Even Sam hadn’t made a snarky comment about you, if anything every time she looked at you, you saw worry in her eyes. Mindy hadn’t said anything to you, but she hadn’t yelled at you either. After getting stitched up she sat next to you and Tara, leaning her head on your shoulder and now she was sitting in the stakeout van, holding your hand. You really wished she would yell at you. You killed her girlfriend, you deserved to get yelled at. You knew you weren’t the one to stab Anika and you weren’t the one to tilt the ladder, but you were the one to let her go. You dropped her. Anika fell to her death because you couldn’t hold on.
You were brought out of your thoughts again when the phone finally rang. Ghostface taunted Sam and it turned out you were all in the wrong place. Ghostface was across town attacking Gale. The plan didn’t matter, nothing mattered, after the call you were all racing uptown to save Gale and you were still too late. Turns out you truly couldn’t save anyone. Now you were on a train headed to a serial killer’s lair to try and kill a different serial killer.
Sam stood next to her cute boy from next door. If you had the energy, you totally would’ve made fun of their relationship. Sam had been so adamant about keeping their relationship hidden but now that she had confessed, she had no problem staying close to him. Danny seemed to be taking everything well considering he had just witnessed a murder and by helping all of you it put a target on his back.
The fact that he was so calm should have been concerning. He should’ve gone to the top of your suspect list especially since he was the reason Chad got onto the subway and wasn’t able to wait with Mindy when she got separated. You didn’t think it was Danny though, he may look strong and intimidating but he was all warm and gooey on the inside, there was no way he was a killer.
Chad stood next to you and Tara; eyes glued to his phone as he repeatedly texted Mindy. The only thing you guys knew was that she was on the next train and that Ethan was with her. Her not being alone calmed some anxieties but also brought forth new ones. Ethan was Mindy’s top suspect, and you couldn’t help but agree, he was so unsuspecting looking that he would clearly be an obvious choice for the killer in a movie.
You got pulled out of your thoughts again when the five of you came to a stop outside of the theater, Kirby greeting all of you as she had already arrived and checked the place. Sam was pulling Danny to the side and whispering quietly to him. You furrowed your brow; Danny didn’t seem thrilled about whatever Sam was telling him.
“She’s telling him to stay outside,” Tara’s voice cut through your thoughts. You turned to her, tilting your head. “Maybe you should as well. This isn’t your fight. You’re only in danger because you’re with me.”
“I’m pretty sure that ship sailed the second I took that phone call for Sam,” you said lightly, trying for a soft smile.
“What we’re about to do, what we’re going to have to do, it’s a lot different than answering a phone.”
“This jackass attacked me in my dorm.” Tara opened her mouth, but you didn’t let her interrupt you. “Let me finish. It wasn’t because of you. It was because I ran my mouth and pissed him off. He’s gonna come after me whether I’m with you or not. Face it, we’re safer together.”
Tara huffed. She looked at her sister who clearly didn’t want you coming with them but rolled her eyes, she seemed done trying to argue when it came to you. Tara then turned to Kirby who just shrugged.
“It’s your call,” Kirby said, shrugging again before making her way into the theater.
“Fine,” Tara sighed. “I guess I would feel guilty if I left you out here all alone, making you an easy target for a psycho.”
You smiled, following the others into the theater as you left Danny outside. You had already seen the theater the first time Gale showed you all, but you hadn’t really paid attention. You wandered past the cases, seeing every different attack and murder. Everything telling the story from the first Ghostface to the one from last year.
“I’m going to double check the perimeter,” Kirby said, wandering off down one of the dark corridors.
Sam made her way up the stage, standing before the glass case that held her father’s robe and mask. Tara gave your hand a comforting squeeze before following close behind. You slowly walked down the path of memorabilia; you hadn’t looked at it before. When you got to the theater the first time all you saw was Anika. You had plopped yourself down at the edge of the stage and waited while the others walked around taking it all in and coming up with the first plan to try and catch this guy.
You were even aware that Tara ran off, having a small breakdown. You wanted to comfort her; your heart broke at allowing someone else to do it. Your feet just wouldn’t move, your head wouldn’t allow you to forget about Anika. Failing to comfort your girlfriend when she needed you was just another thing you added to your list of things you failed at.
You came to a stop at the last display case. The case for last year’s Ghostface. Pictures of the crime scenes hung up, next to drawings of the attacks. The knives used to kill and stab proudly on display, still coated in the blood of their victims.
You saw the images of Tara’s attack, the blood splatter going from her front door down the hall and into her kitchen. So much blood. Tara still didn’t know if Amber had let her live on purpose or she meant to kill her, but the cops arrived too quickly. Either way you couldn’t understand how Tara’s best friend, her girlfriend, could do something so cruel. You clenched your jaw, looking up towards the stage where Tara seemed to be trying to comfort her sister. She wasn’t going to get hurt again. You wouldn’t allow it. She had already survived so much. You were going to make sure she got out of it again this time.
“I’m gonna call Mindy again,” Sam mumbled, stomping off the stage and brushing past you as you made your way to Tara.
“Hey,” you said, giving her a small smile.
“Hey,” she replied, giving you that soft smile she always had whenever she looked at you. Even in a killer’s lair trying to trap another killer she still somehow managed to have that smile.
You intertwined your fingers with hers, bringing her hand up to your lips to give it a soft kiss. She pulled you down the steps of the stage and towards another room. There was a snack bar and a popcorn machine with some popcorn still in it.
“Oof, can you imagine how that tastes?” you asked, eyeing the popcorn.
“If you try it,” Tara said, spinning around to point a finger at you. “You can say goodbye to ever kissing me again.” She leaned against the snack bar, watching you.
“Yeah, death by decades old popcorn is not how I want to go out.” You leaned against the counter next to her.
She stepped closer to you, tugging at the string of your hoodie. “How are you doing?”
“I’m fine,” you shook your head, giving her an awkward smile. “Shouldn’t I be asking you that? I mean this is the second time you’ve gone for this.”
“But I didn’t just see one of my best friends die last night.”
You turned away from her, looking at the wall behind the counter. An old chalkboard with the faded prices of candy, popcorn, and sodas was still listed. Your leg bounced as your eyes dropped to the dust covered counter.
“Can we not talk about this?” you whispered.
Tara ran her hand up and down your back stepping into your personal space and placing a kiss against your shoulder. “Baby,” she whispered into your shoulder.
“Please,” you turned your head to face her, you already felt your eyes starting to fill with tears. “I can’t help protect you if I’m having an emotional breakdown.”
“Okay.” She turned your body, wrapping her hands around your waist.
She pulled you into a hug before pulling away just enough to rest her forehead against yours. She stood on her tippy toes, giving you a gentle kiss. You couldn’t help but smile into the kiss. No matter the situation, no matter what was going on in your life, Tara always managed to pull a smile out of you.
“You know I can protect myself,” Tara whispered against your lips. “I’ve done it before.”
“I know,” you whispered back. “You’re a total badass and you’re most likely going to be the one to save me.” She chuckled at that. “But at least let me pretend.”
The two of you were broken out of your moment when Chad burst through the doors. You both jumped, spinning around to face him.
“Sorry,” he said shyly. “Did I interrupt something?” he smirked knowingly.
“Of course not,” Tara said, stepping away from you and smoothing out her shirt.
Chad’s eyes widened, you reacted before he had time to yell. You spun around seeing Ghostface appear behind Tara. He brought his knife down, you yanked her towards you, pushing her towards Chad. The knife sliced down your forearm instead of finding its home in Tara’s shoulder.
“Go!” you shouted.
You heard the squeaking of shoes as they took off down one of the halls. You stood facing Ghostface. He flipped he knife in his hand before slashing at you multiple times. You managed to dodge each attack.
He managed to get you pinned against the counted. You used both of your hands to hold his arm with the knife. It was a losing battle. He was using his weight to push the knife, making it inch closer and closer to your neck.
You kicked at his feet, tripping him up enough that his hand slid. You pushed him away just enough to wiggle yourself out from between him and the counter. He fell forward, impaling the knife into the countertop.
You put your hand on the hilt of the knife, preventing him from yanking it back out. You used your other hand to grab him by the back of the hood and slam his face into the counter. He fell back to the floor with a groan, taking the knife with him.
You took the chance, jumping over his body and running for the door. You didn’t know where Tara and Chad had gone but if Ghostface got in then you needed to find them. The place wasn’t secure like it should have been.
You flung the door open, running right into Sam. You both let out a yelp. She was staring behind you. You looked back to see Ghostface pulling himself up. You grabbed Sam’s arm and pulled her down the hallway, running as fast as you ever had in your life.
You came to another empty room, your eyes darting all around, looking for an exit.
“Where’s Tara?” Sam snapped, yanking you by the shoulder to face her.
“I don’t know,” you said, turning to look for an exit again.
“You don’t know!” she made you face her again.
“She’s with Chad! I told them to run when that psycho appeared,” you gestured back down the hallway you had come.
“How convenient.”
“Are you serious right now?” you yanked your shoulder out of Sam’s grip. You took a step back but continued to face her. “You don’t like me, I get it! Right now, Tara’s safety is my only priority. Can we at least agree on that?”
Sam clenched and unclenched her jaw a few times, glaring at you. She finally nodded.
“Great!” you through your hands in the air.
Something fell causing both you and Sam to turn to the closed door the sound had come from. This time it was Sam’s turn to pull you, yanking you to another door. She swung it open but then quickly stepped back, stumbling into you. You turned to see Ghostface in the doorway, waving his knife back and forth in a taunting motion.
You pulled Sam back just in time for her to get missed by a knife swipe. You pulled her with you to another door, flinging it open and taking off down another hallway. You felt Sam close behind you. She practically pushed you through the next door when you came to it.
As the two of you stumbled through the door you ran right into Tara and Chad, causing all four of you to jump and let out various yelps.
Sam pushed past you, yanking her sister into a hug. She pulled away from the hug to give Tara a once over, making sure there were no new injuries. You did the same then turned your eyes towards Chad, making sure he was okay as well.
“It’s Kirby,” Sam said, as the four of you made your way to the middle of the room. You had managed to end up back in the main room with the stage.
Chad ran to the gate, but it was still locked. Your kill box plan seemed to be working great. The only problem being you were all in the box with the killer. You all made your way through the display cases when Ghostface came out from behind the curtain on stage.
All of you scattered, running different directions around the display cases as Ghostface swiped his knife. Tara ended up getting a cut on her arm, but she managed to dodge any further injuries by diving to the floor. You ran over, pulling her back to her feet just as Ghostface swiped at Chad, missing him, and taking the head off a mannequin.
Sam grabbed Tara, pulling her towards the door with the snack bar. You followed close behind with Chad right on your heals. You all burst through the door, turning to face Ghostface as he came barreling through as well.
He swiped at you a few times, while you managed to jump back dodging each attack. You got him to turn his back to the others. Sam and Tara grabbed each of his arms, pulling him back and pinning him against the counter. Chad dealt a couple blows to his face before the girls released him, making him collapse to the ground. Tara delivered a hard kick to his face.
You moved towards Tara and Sam, instantly pulling Tara into your side. Chad grabbed an old gumball machine, intending to smash it into Ghostface but a second one came out of nowhere, stabbing him in the side.
Tara screamed, trying to run towards him but you held her back, keeping her between you and Sam. The Ghostface on the ground got up, joining his partner as they each held Chad and began stabbing him over and over again. The three of you watched as his body collapsed to the ground, the two Ghostface’s turning to face you as they wiped the blood off their knife simultaneously.
The three of you took back off through the door, back into the showroom. The three of you stood back-to-back as the two Ghostface began to circle you. Sam had a knife while you and Tara grabbed a couple bricks lying on the floor. You got ready to face off against the killers when Kirby came in firing her gun, causing the two killers to run off.
Sam jumped in front of you, and you pushed Tara behind you as Sam held her knife out, keeping Kirby at a safe distance.
“We know it’s you!” Sam shouted.
“No, no, no,” Kirby defended, shaking her head, her gun still drawn. “They knocked me out.”
“Kirby, stay away from them!” Someone shouted. All of you turned to see detective Bailey approaching, his gun drawn and pointed and Kirby.
Both Kirby and Bailey went back and forth accusing each other. They each claimed the other was lying and was most likely working with the killers. You and the sisters stood in the middle of the room, eyes darting back and forth, unsure of who to trust.
“Watch out!” Kirby shouted just as a Ghostface ran up behind Bailey, their knife raised. Bailey fired his weapon, shooting Kirby.
The three of you froze, backing away from Bailey as far as you could.
“You,” Sam whispered.
“Me,” he said with a shrug, both Ghostface’s stepped up, taking a place at each side of Bailey. “I expected more from the two of you after what you did to us,” he directed at Sam and Tara.
“What do you mean us?” Tara asked.
The Ghostface to the right of Bailey took off his mask, revealing Ethan. “Mindy was right,” he said, with a sadistic smile. “This was your grandmother’s, Nancy Loomis,” he pointed to the mask. “And speaking of family, my name isn’t Ethan Landy, is it dad?”
“Dad?” Tara asked in shock.
“Damn,” you whispered. “I really nailed the call about daddy issues.”
“That mouth of yours is exactly why you’re gonna die slow and painful!” Ethan shouted, pointing his knife towards you.
“Wait,” Sam said. “If it’s you two,” she looked between Ethan and Bailey. “Then Mindy?”
The second Ghostface took off their mask, revealing Quinn.
“The fuck,” you whispered.
“Didn’t see that one coming,” Quinn said with a smirk.
“Yeah, cause you died,” Tara said.
“It was a good way to get off the suspect list.”
The three of them began circling the three of you. Quinn and Ethan swiping and stabbing at all of you to make sure you stayed group together. They went on and on about their plan to frame Sam for all the murders, eventually getting to the part where they revealed they were Richie’s family.
“There’s a very special bond between a father and his first son,” Bailey said.
“Well, guess we know who the favorite is,” you mumbled. “But hey I guess when your choices for favorite son are between a film obsessed nerd turned serial killer or this loser,” you pointed to Ethan. “I mean, no competition really.” Ethan gritted his teeth, stabbing at you again but missing.
Sam disrupted their plan by saying how pathetic Richie was. It allowed an opening for Tara to swing her brick, knocking Quinn in the face. Kirby recovered and fired several shots into Bailey, hitting his vest. Ethan ran up and stabbed Kirby, but Sam knocked him in the head with a brick.
“There!” Tara shouted, pointing to a ladder that led up to the second level.
Tara was already up the ladder and climbing through the bars to get on the upper level by the time you and Sam were making your way over to the ladder.
Sam was in front of you, almost at the ladder when you saw Quinn coming up behind her out of the corner of your eye.
“No!” you shouted, moving on instinct.
You jumped in Quinn’s path right before her knife would have entered Sam’s back. Instead, the knife entered your stomach.
“No!” you heard Tara scream.
You coughed up blood. You thought you heard Sam let out a gasp behind you. You only saw Quinn, mouth bloodied, teeth missing but still having a sadistic smile on her face. She gripped one of your shoulders before plunging the knife into your stomach again, and again, and again. You lost count how many times she stabbed you before she lightly shoved you off her knife, making you instantly collapse to the ground.
You saw Quinn run off through blurry eyes, black spots dancing in the corner of your vision. “Oh my god,” Sam gasped out. She was kneeling by your side. She put her hands to your wound, as if she could possibly stop the bleeding. “Why?” she whispered.
You opened your mouth to answer but only coughed up more blood. “Tara,” you managed to get out in a breath, coughing up more blood in the process.
Sam looked down at you, her hands hesitating to leave your wound. She turned to look up to where Tara had been before looking back down at you. If you didn’t know any better, you could swear you saw tears in Sam’s eyes. That was impossible though, there was no way Sam was getting teary eyed over you, clearly you had already lost so much blood and you were becoming delusional. “Go,” you said with one more breath before falling into another coughing fit.
You felt the pressure of Sam’s hands leave you. You saw her figure standing above you through blurry eyes before your vision went black.
You slowly opened her eyes, blinking only to see a bright white light in your eyes. You tried pushing yourself up with your elbows but instantly dropped back down with a groan.
“Hey, hey, take it easy,” a soft whisper came from the side of you. You turned your head, blinking a few times to see Tara standing next to you. Her eyes were red rimmed, but she was smiling when you made eye contact with her.
You blinked a few times, getting your eyes to adjust from the sleep. You looked around to see you were in a hospital room. You were somehow alive. You were sure you were dead after you lost consciousness but apparently you were wrong.
Tara came into a clearer view; she was in a chair at your bedside. She had the chair pulled as close as it could get to your bed, and she gripped your hand as if she was afraid, you’d suddenly fade away. You slowly lifted herself up again, this time Tara helping you as best as she could. When you were sitting up you saw Sam sitting in the corner of the room at a little table. When she saw you awake, she got up to stand opposite of Tara at your bedside.
“What happened?” you asked, your voice gravelly.
“You were stabbed,” Tara said, her voice hollow as she tried to hold back more tears. “Ten times.” She wiped away the tears that began to fall. “You were stabbed ten times.”
You nodded, the memory flooding back to you. “Is it bad I’m glad it was Quinn and not Ethan? I don’t think I could handle it if it had been Ethan,” you joked.
Tara let out a laugh, but it turned into a half sob. You let out a small laugh as well before wincing in pain. You settled for smiling up at Tara. You glanced at Sam to see her trying to hide a small smile as well. Shit, you had to be in bad shape if Sam was willing to laugh at your jokes, even if she was trying to hide it.
“What about the others?” you quickly asked. You remembered the last image you had of Chad, him being stabbed then tossed to the floor. You still had no idea what happened to Mindy, you think you remembered Quinn mentioning stabbing her on the subway.
“They’re okay,” Tara said quietly. “Even Chad. They’re all okay. We’re all okay.”
You nodded, letting your head fall back onto the soft pillows. Sam cleared her throat causing your attention to shift to her. She was picking at your bed sheet. You had to still be delirious or very high because it almost looked like Sam was nervous, but Sam didn’t get nervous.
“Thank you,” Sam finally said. “You saved my life. So, thank you.”
“Anytime,” you said.
Sam stared down at her hands playing with the sheet before looking you in the eye again. “Why?” her voice cracked. “You could have died. Why risk your life to save mine? I’ve literally been nothing but cruel to you.”
“I wouldn’t say you were cruel.” You tried to joke but Sam just let out a sob, tilting her head for a real answer. “I told you; Tara’s is my priority. That includes her getting to keep her sister.” You felt Tara’s grip on your hand tighten.
“Well, for saving my life,” Sam wiped the tears from her eyes, she tried to sound like her normal serious self again. “I will now allow you to stay at the apartment.” Your eyes widened at that. “No need to sneak in and out.”
“Really?” you couldn’t help but be shocked by this new development.
“This does not mean I like you,” she pointed a finger at you. “And you better not be there every day, or I will throw you out again.”
You laughed at that. “Of course, I wouldn’t expect anything less.”
“I’ll give you two a minute.” She quickly left the hospital room, closing the door behind herself to give you and Tara even more privacy.
“I think she’s warming up to me,” you said, trying to break the ice. “Get stabbed a few more times, save her life, save your life, and next thing you know she won’t want me to leave your place.”
Tara ran her fingers through your hair, scratching your scalp lightly. “As much as I would love that,” she said. “I would prefer never to see you get stabbed again.”
“Me too,” you nodded. “This is quite painful.” That made both of you laugh. “Lay with me?” Tara’s mouth parted open, but she didn’t say anything, she hesitated to move. “Please?”
She nodded hesitantly. You smiled softly as you moved as far to the side of the bed as you could, being as gentle with yourself as you could. Tara carefully slipped into the bed next to you, careful not to bump any of your injuries. She curled into your side, resting her head against your shoulder as you wrapped an arm around her before drifting off into a peaceful sleep.

totally reasonable development to the American Dream plan, don't even sweat it
(and the 24+ sentences i owe to the pollers)
Toshinori bounces on his heels, feeling lighter than air with the anticipation of tonight’s activities buzzing along his nerves. He’s dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt, denim jeans, and the sneakers Gran Torino had bought specifically for their high-quality rubber soles.
And speaking of, Gran Torino should be up on the roofs somewhere…
The front door to the Midoriya apartment opens, and Izuku slips out after a hasty farewell to his mother, which is paired with a lackluster promise to stay safe. Toshinori manages a single jaunty wave before Izuku shuts it, and then his attention is turned to give Izuku’s outfit a critical once-over.
“You don’t have any other shoes?” Toshinori asks, contemplating the red hue of his successor’s sneakers. The rest of the clothes are appropriately sturdy and dark in palette.
“No? Sorry…”
“Eh, it should be fine. There shouldn’t be a lot of traffic up top anyway. Come on, let’s move!”
They make their way to the stairs, but to Izuku’s obvious confusion, Toshinori leads them further up.
“Yagi-san, you said that this was going to be a special Basic Physical Fitness Training session,” the kid says. “Can I ask… who thought of it? You, or Gran Torino?”
“Oh, this is totally my idea,” says Toshinori breezily. “I know the beach clean-up is the ultimate goal, and it’ll stay as your focus before high school, but I realized today that there are some experiences that you just can’t replicate as a holder of One for All! Experiences that even our Quirkless bodies can manage!”
They head higher. Izuku gets more nervous, but gamely follows Toshinori up the fire safety ladder.
On the roof, Gran Torino greets them with a curt, “Boys. This is the stupidest thing I can imagine for you two to do, in the stupidest place possible.” He’s sitting on the ledge, and as Toshinori requested, two lengths of steel pipes are leaned up next to him.
“Musutafu’s perfectly safe,” Toshinori counters. “And with you here, Gran Torino, there’s minimal risk of, well...”
“Falling to your deaths?”
Izuku squeaks. He quivers beside Toshinori, and when Toshinori glances down, Izuku is staring at the pipes, aghast. “What are we doing, Yagi-san?”
“We,” Toshinori says with great dignity, “are training in the great art of parkour. The pipes are insurance for safety, supposing we see real trouble that a pro-hero won’t get to in time.”
“Legally speaking, vigilantism,” Gran Torino interrupts.
“But we’re not going to get caught.”
“Which makes you juvenile delinquents.”
“Gran Torino,” Toshinori complains, feeling delightfully young and unburdened now that he’s gotten accustomed to Torino’s incredible, mellowed-out approach to training Izuku. What trauma? What spars? Toshinori at fifteen didn’t know anything about that, and Gran Torino at his current age looked nothing like the pro-hero who haunted the end of his high school career!
“I’m enabling you, aren’t I?” the old man shoots back. “Don’t I get to express my own opinions?”
“Is it really safe, though?” Izuku asks.
“Of course!” Toshinori picks up a pipe, hefts it, and tosses it over to Izuku, who catches it while wearing a thoroughly beleaguered expression. Then he grabs the other. “Listen, Midoriya-kun. If it’s really going to be a year until you get One for All, then the American Dream plan can afford to be a little flexible! You want to be a U.A. student, right?!”
“R-right!”
“Then we can’t just train your body!” he cries, lifting the pipe like a torch. “We’ve gotta train your willingness to get into a scrap!”
A little more wobbly, Izuku repeats, “R-right!” And because his successor is more polite, Izuku turns to Gran Torino and executes a little bow, adding, “Thank you for letting us do this, Gran Torino! And for keeping an eye on us!”
Torino sighs.

Laboratory Safety: The Hierarchy of Controls
Though many people may think of safety glasses or lab coats as the safest way to protect oneself in a laboratory setting, personal protective equipment (PPE) is actually considered the last and least effective step. The goal with safety in laboratories is almost always to make the use of PPE unnecessary or redundant - with the caveat and acknowledgement that sometimes, that just isn't possible.
Nevertheless, let's take a look at the steps that come before PPE:
Elimination of the hazard. Examples might be restricting the use of extension cords (possible trip hazard); doing work at ground level (e.g., eliminating the use of a ladder and bringing the work to the floor); or updating old or faulty equipment that might be more dangerous than modern versions.
Substitution of the hazard. Similar to elimination, examples include replacing chemicals with less dangerous versions that can perform the same task, or using less electricity or temperature.
Engineering controls serve to isolate people from hazards. Examples include chemical fume hoods, an interlock system for a laser setup, or remote controls to operate equipment from a distance.
Administrative controls are the rules and regulations that govern a laboratory space. They can include working on a buddy system, additional safety training, mandating rest breaks, putting up warning signs and labels, and developing standard operating procedures.
Sources/Further Reading*: (Image source - CDC) (OSHA) (OSHA hierarchy of controls) (SafetyCulture) (Lab Manager)
*Note: If you are looking for lab safety resources, any university with working laboratories should have guidelines available. Just keep in mind that as the rules get more specific, some may be location dependent (i.e., based on the local laws of the state, province, country, etc.).

The Captains Daughter: Chapter 4
A/N Heyyyyy- Thank you all so much for reading and liking the previous parts :D I appreciate it sooo much. Hopefully yall like this chapter :) Comment if u want to be added to a taglist.
Word count: 872
Ghost pov:
At 4:00 sharp Y/N exited the locker room, she spotted me from across the gym and walked over, I met her in the middle.
remember, be friendly not bitchy
"Hello Y/N, how was your day?"
This better work soap
She looked bewildered at my question
"G-Good?" She hesitated, looking around, possibly scanning for some sort of trap.
"There's no catch, I just thought I should act friendlier towards you." I confessed
"Okay-" she slowly nodded her head
An awkward silence followed
"Lets begin," I said
She nodded her head as I walked off in the direction of the agility course. Y/N padded along beside me. The silence still felt awkward.
"So where were you stationed before coming here?" I asked her
"Anchorage, we were mostly a port for shipments, a bit of classified work too, you know, with Russia being less than 100 miles away."
"Alaska?"
"Yeah, weathers better here."
I laughed at her un-funny joke, just to break the ice.
We reached the ladder leading up to the first stage of the course, a leaderboard posted at the bottom.
"Your not on here lieutenant, I thought you were supposed to be athletic with those... muscles." She paused before the last word, my cheeks turning a dusty rose color at her mention of my body. Thank fuck for this mask.
"A big, bulky guy like me isn't the most agile," I told her.
she hummed.
"I'm going to time you, lets do 5 sets of the entire course, three minutes rest in between each." I explained
"Go!" I commanded.
She dashed up the ladder with decent speed, swinging across the hanging ropes with ease. She stepped across the moving bridge without hesitation, her foot slipped at one point. most at least stop to calculate the timing or something.
Daring, I noted.
I didn't like that trait for her, too dangerous. She should have at least stopped to analyze the situation first.
I watched her complete the first stage, scaling another ladder. She came across an obstacle that required you to jump a fair distance onto it, then use your full arms strength to pull yourself up to a platform. I pursed my lips when she struggled to pull herself up. Her arms quivered, face contorting into a grimace, finally she slipped and fell into the safety net.
"Climb down," I yelled up to her
She threw her head back and groaned, crawling across to the ladder and descending it.
"I almost had it," Y/N pouted.
"Change of plans, Lets do an arm workout."
She sighed and followed me over to the weights.
"Since we're being friendly now, why don't you tell me a bit about yourself," she suggested.
I scoffed, "what do you want to know."
"When's your birthday," she began.
"May 18th."
"Favorite color?"
"Black."
"Music preference?"
"I don't listen to music"
"Birth year?"
"1994"
"Why do you wear that mask?"
Reader pov:
Ghost looked like he just saw a ghost.
You awaited your answer.
"This is a bench press," he said gruffly. Effectively changing the subject.
You ignored his lack of response and instead listened to his explanation on how to bench.
He demonstrated with a few reps. He made the 45 pound bar look like a pencil with his large, work-hardened hands and massive biceps. He had turned from awkwardly friendly to cold and reserved again. I shouldn't have asked about his mask, you thought.
He motioned for you to repeat after him. You used to train arms 3x per week for Track and XC but your conditioning has faded, even after joining the army. Ghost told you to do 3 sets of 10, with no weight on the bar. The first set was easy enough although, You had severely underestimated what not working arms for months would do. Halfway through the second set, Your shoulders burned. Your form went to shit and you were breathing heavily. Ghost took notice and helped guide the bar up and down.
You blushed at the close proximity of you and him, hoping he would mistake it for your exhaustion and not your lack of male attention for the last year and a half. Your old base had kept men and women strictly separated. You barely finished the third set.
Without a word, he moved on to the racks of dumbells. You could sense his anger at being asked such a personal question.
"Look, I'm sorry for aski-" he cut you off.
"Save it," he snapped. Not even bothering to look back at you as he began to curl impossibly large weights. You grabbed two, ten pound weights and followed, matching his pace and motions.
After a few sets he switched the motion, exercising a different muscle. He continued this cycle until finally re-racking the weights and moving on to other machines. You followed him wordlessly, until finally he looked at you and muttered, "Dismissed." You would have missed it if you hadn't been listening to him. Silently hoping that he would turn towards you and crack a joke, or accept your apology, or at least to give you feedback.
But no.
The mysterious lieutenant brushed past you and exited the gym. Leaving you all alone.

I got an absol who retired from workplace safety. He is very sweet and well mannered but I wish he did not scream at me if I do not wear a helmet to 'unsafe' places... which also for some reason includes a) any time I step on a chair or a ladder to reach a higher shelf b) every trip to an attic c) any time I have any tool in my hands d) the garage e)also building materials and tools shop
that...sounds like the result of poor training on his old owners' part. absol aren't supposed to alert for safety issues. they naturally only alert for incoming disasters- they don't prevent, they predict. this sounds to me like an absol that is overalerting, either because he wasn't trained properly or he's stressed/anxious. i would talk to a vet and/or behaviorist to make sure that he's feeling okay and that this behavior isn't the result of an underlying health/stress issue.
i definitely don't recommend absol as a pokemon for a crowded work environment, as they are largely solitary. they can do well as a rescue pokemon or an individual ranger's partner pokemon, but i can't imagine an absol feeling comfortable or succeeding as a workplace safety pokemon.

The Importance of AEDs on Construction Sites: A Life-Saving Device
The presence of AEDs on construction sites has rapidly transitioned from a supplementary safety feature to a crucial necessity. The dynamic and often rigorous environment of construction sites exposes workers to an array of challenges daily. From operating heavy machinery to performing tasks at elevated heights, the inherent risks are many. Amidst these challenges, sudden medical emergencies,…

https://olderthannetfic.tumblr.com/post/745017894572900352/there-are-issues-regarding-sex-scenes-in#notes Reading the last part I was immediately reminded of the Deadpool2 fiasco where the black stuntwoman got killed because they insisted on having her do a stunt she wasn't trained for, just because she was black. It was that they didn't want a non-black stuntwoman because "the character is black, so the stuntwoman has to be black." Yeah great fantastic... you killed someone. You killed a woman who you knew wasn't qualified, because you wanted to pat yourselves on the back.
It always annoys me when I hear about accidents, especially fatal accidents, that happen because someone in production just decided their ideas are more important than human lives. So many accidents come from sheer stupidity and neglect. There are even more stories of stuntpeople getting completely fucked, because someone up the ladder messed up with the gear, sets, or other important bits, cutting corners, or trying to make it more "real".
--
I remember that. She went through a window while doing a motorcycle stunt with no helmet.
Boo hoo, it's hard to do CGI hair! Too fucking bad. Why was your stuntperson not wearing a god damn helmet while attempting a dangerous motorcycle stunt?!
It can also be an issue with the skankwear they put female action heroes in because it's infinitely harder to hide protective gear under the dupes the stuntwomen wear. All the stupidass titty window costuming has a direct effect on safety.

I need to rewatch the scene when Eddie came up the ladder after the lightning because if there are no 3 contact points at all times (safety rules and training) that means he really lost his head there.

- caught -
“you ready down there, eren?” hange asked as you peeked over the deep well where eren was. he looked up at the three of you and awaited for further instructions from the spectacled section commander.
“i’ll fire a smoke signal when we’re ready to begin. everything after that is up to you” hange said as eren nodded, raising his arm to show that he understood.
“let us know if there’s anything out of the ordinary that happens” you said, getting a thumbs up from eren as you joined hange and levi a few feet away.
you had been assigned to the old survey corps headquarters to oversee eren’s titan training. you were their official doctor in case anything happens but you were mostly assigned to monitor eren and his well-being during his training.
at first, you were a bit skeptical to be looking after a boy who can turn into a titan but you knew that the special operations squad and levi will be with you the entire time so having your husband next to you eased your worries by a lot.
and besides, it’s not like you were fond of the idea of levi looking after a titan shifter. not like you were questioning his skills but as his wife, you were still concerned and worried about his safety.
hange shot the green smoke signal as the three of you waited for eren to transform into a titan. a few minutes passed and nothing happened, you turned to levi who was next to you as he never looked away from the deep well in front of him.
“did he not see the signal or something?” you asked no one in particular as your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“no. i doubt this would work so easily” levi said before heading over to the edge of the well to see what happened to eren.
“oi, eren! the test is off for now!” levi said, giving eren a warning before looking over the edge. you gasped softly upon seeing what had happened.
“did something happen-“ hange started but cut herself off when the brunette boy stared up at the three of you with blood soaked hands from the bite marks he made in attempt to turn into a titan.
“hange, i can’t turn into a titan” eren said, defeatedly as hange immediately grabbed a ladder to get eren out of there.
“tch. we’ll try again tomorrow” levi clicked his tongue at the brunette boy as you started preparing your first aid kit to bandage up the bite marks he made on his hands.
“what happened?” you asked, gently cleaning the wounds as you began to wrap his hand in the bandages.
“i don’t know. i couldn’t turn into a titan” eren said as you handed him a cloth to wipe any remaining blood on his hands and around his mouth.
“did you feel anything unusual?” you asked, taking note of his answers to write on the progress report later on.
you finished patching him up before joining the rest of squad levi to get a tea break. you sat down next to petra and you were just about to grab yourself some tea when a freshly brewed cup was placed in front of you.
oh. thank you, captain” you said, looking up to see that it was levi who made you the cup of tea. he nodded in acknowledgement and sat down next to you, sipping on his own tea.
petra, oluo, eld, gunther, and eren all gave you subtle questioning looks as you simply shrugged your shoulders. no one in the survey corps knew that you and levi were married since the both of you wanted to keep the relationship known to a handful of people you both trusted to know.
“captain levi, section commander hange is looking for you” moblit said, appearing next to levi after a few minutes as your husband nodded. he grabbed his tea and followed moblit to where hange was.
“i’m pretty sure captain levi has a crush on you” petra pointed out once levi was out of your sights. you raised an eyebrow at her as oluo moved from his seat to sit next to you.
“captain levi never makes anyone tea, you’re the first one. like ever” oluo said, nudging you on the side as you looked at them.
“maybe he’s just being-“ you started but eld and gunther cut you off.
“no. captain levi treats you differently” eld said as gunther nodded profusely in agreement.
“he’s more soft with you. captain levi has a crush on you” gunther said as you helplessly looked at eren, in hopes that he would say otherwise. everyone else looked at him, waiting for his stand on the ongoing debate on whether or not levi has a crush on you.
“captain levi has a crush on you” eren declared as everyone cheered. you hid your face in your hands, your cheeks blushing a soft shade of pink.
“alright, alright! that’s enough, captain levi doesn’t have a crush on me. maybe he’s just being a gentleman” you defended, shrugging your shoulders as everyone whined at your comment.
“captain levi has a crush on you!” everyone said at the same time and before you could react, a voice spoke up from behind you.
“i have a crush on who?” levi said, eyeing his subordinates as they sat down and cleared their throats as if nothing happened.
“nothing, captain!” petra said, nervously sipping on her tea as levi scoffed and took his seat next to you again. you glanced at him, silently thanking him for saving you from the situation with his subordinates as he subtly brushed his hand against yours underneath the table.
the rest of the break was spent with random conversations being made here and there. mostly squad levi asking eren about his titan shifting abilities and if his classmates from the cadet corps were planning to join the survey corps.
“some of them plan to-“ eren said, suddenly freezing up mid sentence and making him drop his teaspoon in the process.
“are you okay?” eld asked as eren hummed in reply, standing up to pick up the teaspoon. you were taking a sip of your tea when everything happened so fast.
there was suddenly lightning and a strong gust of wind started to blow everyone away. you squealed, getting blown away by the wind and landing on the floor a few feet away.
“calm down. i said calm down, all of you” levi’s voice reached your ears as you looked up to see a half formed titan with eren’s arm connected to it. squad levi had their blades drawn, ready to attack at any given chance.
they started yelling questions at eren whilst levi tried to calm them down. hange and moblit came running from the forest as the spectacled section commander jumped in joy upon seeing eren’s titan form.
“eren! can i touch that arm? please, can i? pretty please, i just want to touch it!” hange exclaimed, her eyes widening in amusement as she walked towards the arm of the titan.
“hange, wait-“ eren started but hange already made contact with the titan as she jumped around from how hot the skin turned out to be.
your instincts immediately kicked in, rushing to her side to inspect the potential burn mark on her hand. you were about to put some cooling cream on her hand when she suddenly pulled it away from your grip, pointing at the disappearing titan in front of her.
“hold on, eren! that was too soon! i still wanted to study it!” hange exclaimed as eren was on the floor, catching his breath. you clicked your tongue, quickly putting some cooling cream on hange’s hand before rushing over to eren.
“how are you feeling?” you asked, kneeling down next to him as he barely managed to look at you.
“not very good” eren breathed out as you nodded, telling levi that a retreat back to the castle was necessary for the situation.
levi ordered everyone to go back to the castle as you sighed deeply, walking at the very back of the group. levi slowed down his pace and walked next to you, gently grabbing your right arm and lifted it up.
“you’re bleeding” levi said, showing you the rather deep cut on your arm as your eyes widened. you must’ve scratched yourself somewhere when you were getting blown away by the gust of wind earlier and you just didn’t realize it.
“i’ll be okay, nothing i can’t patch up” you said as levi nodded, walking towards the front again to lead the group.
once you got back, you immediately went to your makeshift office to patch up the wound on your arm. you were trying to clean it as best as you could when the door behind you opened and closed.
“here. let me help” levi said, turning you around and lifting you up to sit on the table. he grabbed the cotton ball from you and gently cleaned the deep wound.
“are you okay?” levi asked, looking at you with worry in his eyes as you nodded and smiled assuringly at him.
“i’m okay, my love. just a scratch” you said and levi pressed a kiss on your forehead. the both of you sat in comfortable silence as he began stitching up the wound and bandaged up your arm.
“all done” levi said, finishing up and discarding everything that he used before pressing another kiss on your forehead.
“thank you, levi” you said, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him in for a hug. he buried his face in your shoulder and took a deep sigh. you smiled softly and rubbed his back, feeling him relax under your touch and release all the stress and tension in his body.
“y/n, have you seen captain levi? we have to- oh” eld said, the door to your office opening all of a sudden as he cut himself off when he saw the sight in front of him.
“i-i-i’ll just- excuse me” eld quickly said, shutting the door behind him as the voices of levi’s squad can be heard from the other side.
“what happened?”
“did you find captain levi?”
“was y/n in there?”
“did she know where the captain went?”
levi sighed once again, untangling himself from you to open the door and explain what just happened to his squad.
“i’ll be right back” levi said, kissing you softly on the lips before opening and closing the door behind him to somehow hide you from the curious eyes outside. he was met by his squad, hange and moblit, along with the million questions they had.
“so, shorty, eld told us that he saw you doing… stuff with our assigned doctor” hange started, smirking and raising her eyebrows at him suggestively as he clicked his tongue in annoyance.
“i was helping y/n patch up the wound on her arm” levi said, his tone flat as if what he said was the most obvious thing in the entire world.
“and the hugging? or were you just helping with that too?” hange pushed, widening her eyes at the raven haired captain.
“we’re married” levi simply said, going back inside your office and closing the door. they all stood in front of the closed door, looking at each other.
“so, i guess that happened-” you started but was cut off when various squeals and excited screams erupted outside.
“i told you captain levi has a crush on y/n!”
“idiot! they’re already married!”
“petra, looks like you don’t have a chance with captain levi anymore”
“i don’t have a crush on him! i just admire him and his skills!”
you laughed silently at the commotion outside as levi rolled his eyes, shaking his head but the smile that was pulling at the corner of his lips gave him away.

i’m about to go to sleep but i cannot stop thinking about eddie’s reaction. like we know. we know he loves buck, no one has ever doubted that, but to see it? to see the desperation, the way he ran up that ladder with absolutely zero thought and zero safety precautions because buck was at the other end of it. jesus like—eddie tried to pull buck up. buck was hanging by a literal thread and eddie must have known, logically, that he’d be better off getting lowered but in what world is buck better off further away from him? god. eddie’s plan was to fucking carry him down. eddie’s plan was to hold buck against him and run down the ladder. even if he knew buck was better off getting lowered—and of course he knew. he was trained for this shit—he couldn’t let someone else be the first one to hold him, the one to get his heart beating again, the one to tell him “come on, buck, come back to me”. eddie pushed his captain aside because the love of his goddamn life was getting wheeled into an ambulance. eddie loves buck despite. because buck is the furthest thing from rotten work. eddie wants to stain and be stained in return, wants to hold buck so close to his chest that their heartbeats sync, can’t help the way he loves him so completely, genuinely, wholly, intentionally. just. i can’t think about it without getting dizzy.

Firefighter
Content: HC format of volunteer firefighter Jean and reader meeting and becoming a couple! 2.1k words oops that was a lot please enjoy!
a/n- Inspired by a self ship idea and heeeere's the amazing artwork by @charlotteplsdosth that also helped inspired this story by the amazing thank you so much!
--------------
Jean has been doing odd jobs while getting his associate degree in business. He isn't sure exactly what he wants to pursue after that. His best friend and classmate Marco talks about volunteering and they both take a day to go to the local fire department.
They talk to the captain of the station and are given instructions and a massive packet of papers to go through of all the requirements.
Jean looks it over for a few days, seeing there's written and physical exams, courses that equal over 400 hours total that include things like basic knowledge of health and safety, search and rescue, water and hoses, being CPR trained, and things he never thought of like understanding building construction for getting people out, and also being a trained paramedic and learning to use SCUBA gear, among other things.
After a week of thinking it over both he and Marco put in their applications and get started, and they are busier then ever.
Jean is exhausted and determined and somehow finds time to fit everything in and in a couple months he and Marco join the station and continue the last bit of their training on the job, both passing with flying colors and in six months total join the team.
They don't get paid much as it's volunteer work but they find they love it. Most days are quiet or it's non emergency calls that can easily be handled.
Jean quietly has a mini breakdown one day though after the team is unable to salvage a family home that went up in flames. The people are okay but they lost all their things.
The station holds a town fundraiser to help them get on their feet again, and Jean and Marco are leading the way, wanting to continue their work.
After a year, they both sign up for another year and Jean is entering the the second year of his degree.
It's a quiet day at the station when Marco on dispatch gets a call from a frantic woman about a cat stuck in a tree.
He goes to say this isn't something they can really send someone out for but since it's a slow day, Jean motions to him it's okay, and Marco finds out the address while Jean listens in then takes a car and ladder and heads out.
That's the first time he meets you, crying at the mewing cat far up in a tree on your front lawn.
He almost laughs at the sight but contains himself for your sake. The cat will be fine.
You rush over to him and he pats your back and introduces himself and starts up to retrieve your cat.
You watch in both awe and distress as he takes this seriously and handles it much better than you have.
45 minutes later he finally gets the very uncooperative animal down and hands it back to you, almost breaking a sweat on that warm day.
You thank him and insist he come inside and get him a drink and a light meal and tell him you'll keep a better eye on your cat.
Soon Jean has to be getting back and you find after getting to know him maybe you don't want him to leave.
You ask more questions and he tells you of a food drive they are holding this Saturday and you ask if you can come and help.
Jean was secretly hoping that's where this was leading.
So it begins, first with the food drive, then with an open station tour, where Jean greets you and introduces you to Marco.
The event is for families and kids and you've borrowed your little cousin as an excuse to come. While Marco entertains her, Jean entertains you.
Soon you are going to events outside the station. Walks in the park, dinner, movies, late night texting sessions when you should both be asleep, getting to know each other more.
As much as Jean works, volunteers and studies, he makes time for you as an important part of his life.
He knows your work schedule by heart and soon you are getting little presents of flowers and other sweet things delivered both to your work and to your house.
Before his next year of volunteering is up you've moved to a deeper relationship, exchanging I love you's.
One day he tells you he doesn't know what he wants to do with his life and you spend the night talking again.
Though you worry about him when he's at the station, because while most calls are minor, some are very much not, you see he loves being a firefighter.
With you being a big supporting factor, he makes the decision to finish his degree, knowing it will be there for future use, cut down on the odd jobs, and become a full time firefighter.
A few months later, the week before he is set to have his induction ceremony, he asks if you want to look for a place together, knowing he wants to be with you.
Turns out you've been thinking of it too, and you start looking right away.
At his ceremony with the other inductees, including Marco and some friends they've made at the station along the way, you are there cheering Jean on with his mom and dad, your mom, dad and little cousin, and some other friends.
Jean has asked to go last and with his comrades help he sets his plan in motion, gets you on stage with him, and in his best suit in tie, hair slicked back, gets down on one knee and presents you with an engagement ring, if you'll have him.
You are sobbing and enthusiastically agree. You hug and kiss and the crew and people in attendance cheer you so loudly that the surrounding neighborhood hears it.
Within a month Jean now has his degree and you've found a place you both love and have moved in with your cat and a stray dog that someone found hanging around the station that Jean has been taking care of.
It's not long before you have a wedding, two in fact, both in one day. One early at the station with his team and friends where they wear their uniforms, except Marco, who has a tux on like Jean, being the best man. The captain of the station gives you away, and your dog is the ring bearer.
Jean then drives you to the second event in one of the fire engines that's decorated for the occasion. It's not a far drive but people honk and cheer and you both wave out the window.
Everyone is already present, both sets of parents front and center, and the rest of your family and friends, for a sweet, somewhat small barnyard wedding, that's perfect for the event and a reception.
Jean takes his place at the front with his best man Marco and his groomsmen who have walked in just before with the maid of honor and bridesmaids.
You come in, same dress as before, still leaving Jean with tears in his eyes as your father meets you and walks you down the aisle to Jean.
You both get time off for your honeymoon and after that settle into a routine you both adore as husband and wife.
You love being able to be home when Jean gets off and having things ready for him to take it easy, especially if he's had a trying day. He appreciates it and there's days where he does the same for you.
Life continues, you worry about Jean still, especially when his team is called to drive north and help other firefighters battle a wildfire.
You know he has to go and hug and squeeze him and cry a little bit. He promises to check in and you and his mom will keep in contact.
You don't see him for five days. You watch the news that talks about the men and women suffering from smoke inhalation and exhaustion and are beside yourself and your boss grants you a leave for a few days at seeing your grief.
Jean checks in just a couple times a day, telling you to stop watching the news, and that he's okay.
Some days you drive to his parents house and spend time with his mom as you both try to not watch the news, waiting for updates.
You break down and watch the devastation happening not very far from you and cry when Marco texts you and says everyone is fine and coming home but Jean suffered from heat exhaustion from being on the front lines while giving other out of commission firefighters a break.
While you wait for them to drive back the news declares there's finally an end in sight to the fires and all the people that came to help made all the difference.
You are glad of course, but can't wait to see your husband.
Jean's parents give you space and will call tomorrow to check in, and you just sit and wait for another hour. Your dog is right by your side, feeling how tense you are.
You jump up when you hear a car door and bolt outside where Marco is helping Jean out of the car. He's had medical treatment but still needs a little recovery time.
You cry and rush to them and hug him as gently as you can while really wanting to squeeze him. Jean tears up too and strokes your hair and you and Marco help him inside.
You thank Marco and hug him as well before he leaves. Then it's time to pamper your husband. Anything he wants.
You praise him and tell him how proud you are, make him his favorite meals, set up baths for him, cuddle him at night, wait on him for two whole days.
Jean adores you and tells you he thought of you all the time and is sorry he didn't check in more and tells you after a couple days he's feeling pretty good now, but he doesn't mind if you still want to spoil him.
After another week off he's back on the job, again, mostly minor calls with his station.
Your anxiety calms down now that he's home, always there though. You make sure to kiss him and tell him you love him every morning before and after he leaves.
One day you are off and cooking at home and are chatting with a friend who has called and don't notice that maybe the stove burner is on too high.
Your fire alarm notices though and it starts blaring. You get the dog and cat away from the kitchen and after a minute are able to relatively safely remove the source of the problem, but it's smoky enough the alarm doesn't stop.
The fire station is alerted thanks to a town wide system of alarms being connected to the station in case people aren't able to call.
Marco realizes it's your address and notifies Jean who doesn't hesitate to get in a car and rush home.
You really have it under control but are a mess from the situation and cry from embarrassment when Marco brings out a fire engine with a couple other members of the team just in case.
Jean takes the rest of the day off and gets the house back in order and makes sure you're okay. He knows this isn't like you.
It turns out, you tell him that night, that you've been preoccupied, from your recent doctor visit results, because next year you will be having a baby.
Jean is ecstatic and dotes on you and accidently slips earlier then intended to the crew when he asks about taking a leave at some point for, reasons. They all want to take the new dad to be out to celebrate and he let's them but insists on shutting down early to go be with you at home.
Before the year ends you get together with other station members and their wives and you ladies come up with the idea of a sexy fireman calendar, for charity, of course, supporting the local animal shelter.
Some of the men take real convincing of this. Jean is confused too that you won't mind his picture being gawked at, but you tell him no one else can touch and it's for charity, so it's okay with you.
The day they take the pictures the wives show up and it's clear you are all having way to much fun with this.
Some of you even adopt some of the animals that are included that day, and the calendar becomes such a success that it's clear another edition will be coming out next year.
In the meantime you and Jean continue to get ready for the new little life you will soon bring into the world.
---------------

OSHA has cited AJLS Enterprises Inc.—which operates as Schoep’s Ice Cream in Madison, Wisconsin—for multiple safety violations and proposed penalties totaling $145,097. According to a release dated Jan. 29, the agency’s investigation was spurred by a report that workers were being exposed to anhydrous ammonia, a hazardous chemical used in refrigeration that can cause severe respiratory injuries and burns. OSHA ultimately issued 12 serious citations, including failure to institute processes for controlled release of hazardous chemicals. Other violations include the absence of lockout/tagout procedures, inadequate machine guarding, failure to train workers in lockout/tagout procedures, the absence of a written hazard communication plan, failure to update the emergency action plan and unprotected ladder openings posing fall hazards.
