Ready to Sail Out
Finishing the set number of quests they were going to complete in Heart Stone, Nights End decide to embark out to a new destination. Fortunately for them, they made some connections with a local ship worker and had accumulated enough funds to sail out, instead of traveling by road! Hopefully no trouble will arise out in the sea!
BTS Notes: 📷
This one was an interesting photo to shoot. I originally took a couple of shots outside, but I could never get a clear view of the sky where I was shooting from. Trees, telephone lines and houses would get in the shot, so I had to scrap those photos completely. Instead I took the photos indoors with a blue background and digitally added the clouds and light rays. It took a good while of editing to get it to look the way it is, but I’m really happy with the results!

20230102: today’s rebuild and inventory is 4030: Cargo Carrier from 1987 with 317 pieces. this is part of the Lego Group’s “boats that really float”. one of the neat parts about these sets is they really do float in water and you can also purchase a propeller and engine block, allowing you to make these boats into remote controlled toys. I have always wanted to try them in a pond or lake or something where the water is generally calm but haven’t found a good opportunity for that yet.
and now, Lego OSHA :)
clearly, our cargo carrier here is used for the smuggling of goods and potentially even for human trafficking. underneath the perfectly documented and legal cargo containers, which are suspiciously empty and have holes in the bottoms of the containers, are two hidden cargo compartments. the red and yellow empty marked Lego and cargo containers do not fit into the lower level cargo compartments. there are no other doors or exits, but it does appear to have mild ventilation areas throughout the lower, inaccessible cargo decks. there is also a sealed compartment under the steering area of the ship with multiple windows but no airflow or entrances and exits. what kind of deep secrets are kept in this hidden compartment? are there other skeletons buried in the bowels of the cargo carrier? what other cargoes could possible be hidden onboard?
dun dun dun!
:D

I’m playing around with Octavian and Agrippa’s color palettes. I like the purple I think it looks expensive.

It's actually really funny to think about how the Tornado of Creation was probably a marketing ploy to get kids to feel free to deconstruct their LEGO sets to make new things out of them.

Really stupid question, but are Sora or Arin ever referred to with they/them in Dragons Rising? I recall having heard rumours of this around when the show was first releasing, but I can't tell if it's actually the case or if it was just somebody's headcanon.
Kinda curious as to what Ninjago's gotten up to representation-wise these days, especially since I heard there was a Hijabi character at some point.
No stupid questions in my inbox :)
(From you, at least)
None of the new main characters in DR use they/them pronouns, sadly.
There is one episode with a non-binary background character. I don't think their pronouns are used in dialogue, and I don't remember them being named, but...
...the arm flags pretty hard to miss. Again, they are just a background character in a single episode, but they're there.
Euphrasia's probably the Hijabi character you heard about. She wore a hood/hijab type garb in srason 1, but she seems to have stopped wearing it in season 2, so it seems to be a 'no' on that end.
(Might be for the best. I'm not an expert on muslim characters, but Euphrasia is one of the Writer of Destiny, who you may remember from season 5, and I did see a post going around expressing concern about having the only notably Muslim-coded character being strongly affiliated with what basically amounts to a fake religion. Would be very cool for a different character to wear a hijab, though.)
Lego does seem to be going for more curly hairstyles in general though, so that's cool.
(Arin and Euphrasia. Yes, that was the best season 2 image I could find of her on Google images.)
I know Dreamzzz has got some more curly hairstyles, and there's a main character with vitiligo. I know that's not Ninjago, but it is Lego.
Oh, and in case you missed what was going on in later seasons of the original Ninjago, there was one scene in the last season where a named side charater (Sally) had a Quasar flag on her guitar:
And now you're all caught up.

20230108: just a small rebuild today, with two boxes of the 1990 Lego set 6508: Wave Racer. this is actually one of those sets I have in my own collection and have had since it came out. it was still really fun to see the box again and to rebuild a classic from my past :)
