I was super excited about this request because I'm ace and I love platonic/best friend fics so much.

"What do we need for fondue?" Jake asked, leaning against the basket of your shopping cart, flexing his arms when a woman walked passed, looking over at him and smiling. You rolled your eyes, you should have known that going shopping for game day would've been easier by yourself. Although you hated driving and Jake was always happy to drive. And brave the absolute headache that was Trader Joes on a Saturday.

"Broccoli, some kind of bread, apples, sausage..." You read over the list that you had unfolded on top of a bag of bagels. You looked up from the list to see him looking behind him, still following the same woman, "Seresin, I swear to god-"

"I'm paying attention darling," he joked, turning back and smiling at you.

"You are not paying attention," you replied, "but I will pretend that you are. What do you wanna get?"

"Hmm," he hummed meaningfully before standing up straight, "broccoli, apples, sausage."

"You just want me to have to go back over to the bread cause you know I hate that lady," you muttered.

"I think you come here too often if you have a literal vendetta against a woman stocking shelves," he replied, "but also, I saw the guy with the kids headed to the veggies and I don't want you to commit murder over a bag of tiny trees."

"A true american hero Hangman," you laughed, turning the cart in the opposite direction.

The first time you met Jake Seresin he'd been out with some friends at the bar you worked at and he'd laid on the charm, pleasantly surprised but unbothered that you weren't interested. From there, something of a strange friendship developed and eventually evolved into him moving in with you when he officially moved to the area and didn't wanna live on base. The whole thing worked out better than you ever imagined that it would, mostly because he was the first roommate you didn't actively hate. You even did things you weren't entirely excited to do, like host Super Bowl parties for his friends.

"Look at this!" Jake interrupted your stare down with the bread shelves, trying to decide between the ciabatta and the french loaves. When you turned he was holding a chocolate cake shaped like a heart, "for Valentines."

"I have a date," you reminded him.

"On Valentines?" He asked, looking down at the cake and then back at you.

"Yeah remember, I told you? I literally put it on the calendar."

"Then we can have it the day before." He insisted, putting it in the cart.

"On Galentine's day?"

"More like Pal-entines day."

"Ehh," you cringed and laughed when he rolled his eyes at you. "Did you get everything?"

"Yeah, and that girl's number too," he smiled, waving his phone at you.

"Naturally," you replied, "hey maybe you can share the cake with her."

Jake shook his head, "first date on Valentines? Yikes," he said and then, "you aren't going on a first date on Valentines are you?"

"No...it's like our third date." You replied, "I've literally detailed both previous dates."

"Yeah and you still haven't told me, your nearest and dearest friend, who it is you're going out with," Jake pointed out. He was right, obviously. You hadn't mentioned who you had been dating. You were usually too transparent with each other and you wanted to tell him it was just that...it was someone he knew and if things didn't go well or fizzled out or anything, you didn't want Jake to feel like he needed to get involved. You loved him and he was your best friend but sometimes he went into older brother mode and you didn't need him thinking he needed to fix something or move something along that didn't need to be fixed or moved along.

"I will...but not right now, when we're supposed to be grocery shopping," you replied.

Jake stuck his tongue out at you and grabbed the grocery list from the cart, scanning over the items you hadn't crossed out yet, "does this guy like football?"

"Why would that matter?" You asked, grabbing the ciabatta bread finally and putting it in your cart, "I don't like football."

"Don't like football?" He practically laughed out loud as he said it, "darling you were literally screaming at the TV during play-offs."

"Um," you dragged out the 'm' as you shot him a skeptical look, feigning disbelief at his claim, "I don't remember that."

"I definitely remember that. Coyote as my witness, I have never seen someone that excited about football outside my dad," he replied. "Hey, it's not Coyote is it?"

"What's not Coyote?"

"This guy you're dating."

"It is not Coyote," you replied, "I promise you will be the first to know if I feel like it's definitely going somewhere...and it won't be Coyote."

"Just checking."

You rolled your eyes, taking back the grocery list from him, "grocery shopping Hangman, grocery shopping."

As soon as he walks into Ramshackle, he just hears your glorious voice, the lyrics saddening, throwing him into a mood swing and making him worried and sad... what happened to little shrimpy? Did someone hurt them? Why are they sad? He was desperate to find out, and give you a big sqeeze to cheer you up, until he gets into your room... and sees a picture of him and you in your hand while you sing.

"And why do I get so nervous when I look into your eyes? Butterflies can't stop me falling for you." you sang, staring at the picture, and so cue another mood swing, and now Floyd is in a silly mood again with a big mixture of happy and giddy, he can't contain it anymore, so he runs up behind you and gives you a big squeeze, causing you to jump slightly.

"Shrimpy!! I didn't know you liked me that much!! Hehehehehe!" he laughs, smiling at you with his classic sharp-toothed grin, making you blush slightly...

"Uhhh, y-yeah uhm.... how long were you there?" you ask him, embarrassed you were caught.

"Eh, I just got here a minute ago! Your voice is so pretty shrimpy... but you had me worried.... I thought someone hurt you..." he sighed, looking sad. Instantly making you feel guilty.

"I'm sorry..." you say regretfully, but then he hugs you again.

A beautiful voice you have... how sorrowful you sound, how sweet you look with that picture of him in your hand... He was initally worried when he first came in and heard you singing such a sorrowful song, but as soon as he saw you with the picture of him, he knew what was going on... You're in love with him, aren't you? He is not far too surprised, he has seen the way you look at him, even the slightest stare from you tells him loads, how you instantly turn your head quickly as soon as he acknowledges your staring...

"But I know now I've found the one I love..." you sang, you voice ringing in his ears like his favorite tune, he wishes not to interupt, but he must make his presence known sooner or later...

"A glorious voice you have, darling." he says as he approaches you, making you instantly turn your head back to look at him.

"Eh? J-Jade??? How long have you been there??" you ask, panicked.

"Oh, a little while, I didn't wish to interupt your glorious voice, but...." He leans closer to you, a sly grin plastering his face. "I couldn't wait to tell you how much I loved you..."

Your face turns a bright red, Jade chuckles, "Besides that, my darling, could you continue? Your song was lovely, I want to hear more."

He was rather confused... who hurt you? must he send the tweels after them? or should he teach them a lesson himself? Until he realized you were singing just to sing, and you were holding a photo of him that you had taken not too long ago, that be was gracious enough to smile for. His face lit up in blush, he was unsure of what to do or say... he liked you as well, obviously, but he was at a loss for words! Had he known you had already liked him, he probably would've been more prepared and chill about this... but he was too oblivious to see the signs, I suppose...

"And Darling this is more than anything I felt before, you're everything that I want, but I didn't think I'd find someone who is worth the wait of all the years of my heartbreak, but I know now I found the one." you sang, your voice stuck in his head as he panicked, what would he say when you finally noticed he was there? What would you say to him?

He tried his best to calm himself down until he heard you get closer...

"But now I know I've found the one I love..." you sang into his ear, making him basically explode, his face all red from embarrassment, you chuckled at his reaction as he was still at a loss for words, struggling to get even one word out of his mouth, he couldn't say it right now... but he loved you too.

I think I remember I saw your old blogs being deactivated that's why I couldn't find the old zombie post till now 💀.

But all that aside I'm here for ZOMBIE AU CRUMBS. I'll just give my theories about it and as well headcannons.

Jack is the first person we come across in the first year group in this au. If according all into the plot ( albeit slightly different ) we would meet Grim after the shade attack in an abandoned house? Though I'd like to think he has the Gene X virus but he's immune to it just like how Grim eats blot in the original twst wonderland.

If everything follows the plot of who we meet next, we would meet Adeuce on a random scavenge hunt for food,water and weapons. Though they're probably got caught up with the shades until Yuu saved their butts

But I'm simply going to go down the list of theories and maybe plans I have. But please ask questions, I love sharing for about AUs.

| OVERVIEW |

#1) Will overblots be the people who have Gene X virus? They probably are trying to find the cure for themselves bc the virus doesn't take over people with high magic that easy, it's a battle of time for them?

In simple terms no. The Gene X Virus which is the main known thing that caused the zombie outbreak, is because it feasts and mutates in people with low levels of magic. So someone like Leona, becoming a zombie/shade is little to none due to his high levels.

The Housewardens overblotting would be because of them purposely keeping their magic levels high, so not only for themselves but others around them or entire territories. Which would wear them down overtime due to excessive you.

Shades/Zombies cannot only hear extremely well, they're fully capable of sense magic, and the weaker the magical person, the more alluring. Though in large groups of Shades, this can easily be an advantage or disadvantage since shades, even dead, have slight magically energy and can confuse each other or easily tell the difference between human and shade. Theyre intelligent.

So overblots would work the same as they usually do, with stress, overwhelming situations, trauma, and overusing magic.

I didn't mention this in the overview, but overblots also are more common, and that phantoms are also extremely dangerous and are immune to shades. There are legitimate cults who purposely overblot, plus the selling of overblot harden matter.

#2) Would we randomly meet Malleus during a shade chase? I'd assumed he saved us in exchange for company?

Without giving too much away, Malleus under zero circumstances is not leaving Briar Valley Territory. He is one of the strongest mages and has some of the strongest magic, his existence alone guarantees a lot of safety for Briar Valley, from both Shades and Phantoms. There aren't really any weak nor low level magic users in Briar Valley, but there are a few and to avoid total out war between fae and humans, Malleus is a pinnacle and absolutely important he stays within his territory.

So if him and MC were to meet, it would be due to Crowley sending them to Briar Valley. It would be an honest Malleus being the damsel and MC being the knight that saves him. If anything his freedom would be the catalyst to finding a cure.

3) I can imagine Crowley giving us dangerous task in this au💀 but we ace it...barely

NRC is definitely the worst place to be due to it's overpopulation and common run in with Shades. If it wasn't for Octavinelle being in the city, NRC would've been overrun. Crowley putting you on dangerous tasks would be common, do to NRC being that horrible and dangerous.

They would be the next you meet, but the order of Overblots are random. If you meet Ace and Deuce it would either be because they've been sent out scouting and got in a dangerous situation and you've saved them. Which would lead you to eventual having to go to the Queendom of Roses to drop them off.

5) Jack is the first person we come across in the first year group in this au. Skipping over the first part of plot purposes.

The Gene X Virus is removing all magic basically, using it as a life source and once that life source is gone, the person is dead and is a vessel that leads the virus to find another host. So Grim wouldn't be immune, but merely not a target but moreso a shield that hides away MC magiclessness. So he basically covers MCs weak presence with his. Now this doesn't completely prevent MC from getting caught by shades of their loud and drawing attention. But stops them from being able to track them.

i will add to this thou, I've seen a few people say that Derek is too much like Clarke Kent and that he would have a completely different parenting style and while I do somewhat agree we have to remember that people tend to act different around their family and especially with their kids than they are with other people. It's also been a lot of years where he has changed alot to fit having to raise a child by himself (who tf is Eli's mom and where is she?; Jeff said he wanted to explore that in another movie) plus he had to change, S2 Derek would be a terrible father and Eli would've been so fucked up

How I think some of the boys met v!mc

Diluc has been to Inazuma at least ONCE when he was a kid. Because his father's business does have some travelling around Teyvat. Since the Kamisato's takes care of events and such, they were probably invited by Mr. And Mrs. Kamisato to sell some of the dandelion wine in Inazuma. His father might bring him to join traveling for business affairs when he was a child to gain some experience. While he was staying there, he was bound to meet Ayato sooner or later. And once he meets Ayato he'll definitely meet v!mc. Since I'm assuming they're usually hanging around alot when they were still kids. When he was about to sail back, he told v!mc that he'll write letters to her every week. (When he heard that v!mc is dead he was surely heart broken, how could he not? He'll surely attend the funeral and visit her grave when he has time to sail to Inazuma)

Heizou is a detective, that lives in Inazuma, how could he not know the existence of v!mc? That's basically almost impossible except if your living under a rock. Heizou bumped (literally) v!mc when he was trying to solve a chase. It was an accidental encounter, even so he's still glad it happened. He wasn't paying attention where he was walking, and bumped into [name]. He thought the rumours were exaggerating about how pretty she is, but this proves him wrong. Now he can see why men all around would try and court her. After the encounter, he would purposely pop up here and there. Either suddenly popping up and helping her being some groceries, to popping up when she's on a walk around town. Either way he soon became quite close with her (he still isn't as close with her as ayato is) (when he heard v!mc was killed, he promised to bring the ones who killed v!mc to jail. They weren't even commended to kill any of the Kaedhara's. He visits her grave once a month, and puts a sweet pea flower on her grave (sweet pea flowers represent farewells and goodbyes and the remembrance of loved ones and close friends))

Hm, Diluc meeting Vigil!MC is interesting. If it's through trade and business the possibilities are there, yes. It won't be too high but it's a possibility, regardless.

I suppose the angst part comes into play when his ideals change after the death of Crepus and he stops writing letters to MC. Since, you know, Fatui priorities.

The letters stop, but even when he's 'mellowed' out of his past, he thinks about his penpal. I'd like to tragically imagine that he learns of Vigil!MC's death through Venti, who drunkenly tells him of everything he's learned one night in the tavern.

Just the pause, then the slow encroaching blue devils. Sigh :(

He would've definitely heard of the renowned Kaedehime. A first-born daughter, heiress of the Kaedehara who was rumored to want to restore the family's honor? Hm~

And yes, it's really also known how- gosh shucks Vigil!MC is pretty. Like, madly pretty? She's definitely a tie with TS!MC. Her beauty also has to do with her lovely personality, who wouldn't like her 😭

I'd say that Heizou thinking the others were being so hyperbolic over their compliments about MC is soooo accurate lol. He's prolly the "give the benefit of the doubt yes but i won't believe it 100% until i see it for myself" kind o guy.

He'd say something like, "So they aren't groundless words after all.." after seeing her lol

MC, dense and confused tilts her head like, "What?"

Heizou just- "Aha! I meant, encounters such as these truly work wonders to enliven someone's day."

"Oh, serendipitous meetings, yes? Truly a wonder! :D"

Heizou: ... yes :D (i meant coming across someone like you, i guess she's as oblivious as they say, too-)

HDSAKDHAJD-

When Kazuha became a criminal and the grave penalty to execute defiers of the decree was extended, Heizou was at a loss. No one defies the Shogun but his friend had done so, courageously well, albeit to a consequence.

It isn't uncommon for criminals to face death but what's rare is for the punishment of one to extend to immediate families, so innocent MC is caught in the crossfire :(

I imagine him attempting to reason with Sara, who dispatches the soldiers upon orders of the Shogun, and stalling said soldiers to maybe buy MC some time to escape with Kazuha- but it still ended up being futile.

I'd say he worked with the Kamisato and put in a really rational debate with Sara so that MC and Tomo would be buried on Inazuman soil and not cast away in the sea.

And yes- ah, he'd visit her grave, definitely.

Sometimes he'd wonder what would've happened if he chose to openly defy the order to end the Kaedehara and helped her escape himself. But alas, those thoughts are too late to consider.

hey girlie, i'm in a situation so i would like to hear your opinion on this, it's also kind if chaotic so beware😭

so 2 days ago the town festivities started n i went with my brother and 2 of his friends, one is a girl and the other is a guy (he's 40, she's 32, I'm 24).

so i noticed the guy paid a lot of attention to the other girl and they were talking a lot and wasn't really paying attention to me. i started talking to another guy that was really nice and closer to my age and we were hitting it off and then my brothers friend got annoyed and told us he wanted to go somewhere else and it was really fast so i couldn't get the guy i was talking ig or anything.

fast forward we left to another place and then the guy started talking to me too, i thought he was super handsome and i was the one who had the idea to invite him. so i started flirting and he flirted back and then we made out. but the other girl got super annoyed and wanted to leave and said she didn't want to be in this situation(which the situation was 2 of her "friends" making out, like i don't think it was that serious or bad? and she met him like 2 hours ago)

she ended up leaving and i told her i didn't want her to go alone and that i would go with her but she didn't want to and i was rlly drunk and having fun tbh (the walk to her house was like 5 min)

the guy and i kept making out for hours and it was fun but the friend that left kept calling like every 10 minutes to tell me that i should go back she told my whole family that i had made out w him and lied and said that my family was mad at me but when i got back they weren't and they were actually glad that i was having fun cause i never really do stuff like this.

she told me that the guy had been flirting w her and that he only got w me cause she did not want him. she also said that the guy had a gf which i didn't know at all so i asked him and he said he was in an open relationship, but I'm not sure cus u know guys lie abt that a lot lol. he said he liked me but didn't want to talk to me out of respect to my brother which i found kind of weird cause we ended up making out in the end, he also said he respected me cause he has known me since i was little and that he didn't flirt with the girl he was just making small talk but im not really sure if i should believe that.

and then the next day the girl told me that she didn't want to make out with him and that she didn't like him at all and that she was cool with it, but then she also told me that she was looking for a roommate and that she was going to ask him?lol😭

i left town cause i don't live there and i was only visiting for the parties and the guy texted me and said he liked me and that he wanted to see me again, he said he was going out today too and he wished i was there and i told him that i wished i would've known that i'd meet him n would have stayed longer and he left me on seen and it's been like 8 hours lol.

tbh i don't really care if he has a gf as long as he's being real about being in an open relationship because i don't think our personalities match enough to be in a relationship, like i just wanna fucc n have fun lol cause he is handsome as hell, like the hottest guy i've ever been with. but i wouldn't like if he ended up hooking up w that girl cause i know she's saying she didn't like him but I'm getting the vibe she did, they live in the same town and i live in another one 4 hours away, so they could be hooking up rn at this moment as far as i know lol.

what do you think? should i just ignore this guy n find another or just wait and see if anything happens?

To answer your question I think you should drop him.

To be more specific on my thoughts, I do think he was into you the whole time because he clearly was bothered by you bonding with another guy buuuuut he should've made that clear. Him lowkey excluding you in the beginning tells me he either was trying to make you jealous or was just being a bit of a dick who maybe was trying to play both fields. Either way, both are red flags to me. As well as him saying he wants to respect your brother but also proceeding to do said thing that he feels is disrespectful to your brother. He seems all over the place and like a headache.

I personally take people as face value so if he says he's in an open relationship I wouldn't doubt that but with that being said, him and girl 2 seem messy and complicated I'm sorry. Her being in your business like that and telling your family your personal matters (because for why and why would they care) is weird af. I don't understand how that's any of her business and then she's talking about becoming roommates with him? Both of them are too old for these antics and speaking of old...

Girl he's 16 years older than you and knew you since you were little? So he was definitely an adult when you were a literal child and around him??? Seriously???? That's not concerning to you at all???

He's 40 and weird and a huge walking red flag like all of this just gave me a headache

I think ppl perceived T as more feminine bc he always seemed comfortable w himself and in tune w his emotions. If anything that makes him a mire secure man. I think his parents raised him well at least emotionally based on the stuff he has said abt them. It’s very sweet. Side note i think he would make a great dad. I’m sure hes a great uncle and friend.

i just always hated how he was perceived due to it being stereotypical in nature rather than anything else. no one is a fan of stereotyping but when it came down to him it was perfectly fine for some reason.

i remember someone on this site who i used to be friends was like so certain baylie was his beard and they made some post about it & then send it to me via anon with one word taken out 😭 and also around that same time others used to assume he was gay because he had a pink phone case too..... but many straight men i've known throughout my life, including my older brother, they just like the colour pink. 2016/2017 was an odd time here. it also just felt odd, like idk this man and afaik he likes women so i'm gonna leave him be, the last thing i'd ever wanna do is try to analyse someone to then assume their sexuality and act like it's a fact, bc say if it were true, then ppl would've been outing him and that's very :/

i also think he'd make a great dad too! he just gives off the vibe that he'd be a very loving and supportive father.

Yeah he's a teenager but like...he's scrawny asf, he's prob never fought a day in his life. Yeah he'd be stronger while possessed but not THAT strong. Let me remind you he probably only killed Heather because he had previously stabbed her which ultimately would've slowed her down, if she hadn't been stabbed she probably could've gotten away. So as long as he can't get to me in the first place I'm good.

3. Pastor Cyrus Miller

He's a pastor 😭 prob can't put up a fight. I do have a thing w/ eyes though so 😶 but he also targeted kids...and I'm not a little kid in 1666 so I'd still have a good chance of getting away from him.

4. Ruby Lane

She'd be more difficult to survive than the previous three, but I feel like I still have a chance at getting away. All she has is the razor blade though, so if I were to somehow get it away from her?? Game over babes. She's not Tommy's level of strong but she's still got some strength to her so there's also a good chance she'd kill me.

Once I'm tired from running there's no chance of me living tbh.

since we’ve gotten a bit more info on the new season and everyones expecting a trailer drop tmrw,,, what r ur thoughts on debicki’s diana in the crown (entirely visually obv bc we dont have much to go on 😭😭) and what r ur hopes for s5 (and 6 ig bc i personally feel like they’ll probably more connected than any other 2 seasons of the show so far)

I mean, I'm really excited for her. I think she's a super talented actress and a great physical casting for the role.

I guess for me I'd just like them to give Diana fair play. I don't want the endless victim montage that we got in Spencer--Diana knew how to manipulate the press, and she was a loooot more cunning than people give her credit for on this level. She knew exactly what she was doing when she'd wear certain dresses, set up certain photo opps. Her mental illness and trauma could make her paranoid and catty--she notably pushed her stepmother down the stairs once, and also kind of terrorized the boys' nanny because she believed the woman got pregnant with Charles's baby and had an abortion (the story is that Diana saw Tiggy at a party and went like, "sorry about the baby" lmao I can't.). She also was deeply sincere about the causes she cared about, especially those involving children and the LGBT+ community, and wanted to make a positive difference in the world. She had friends that she was really close to, fell in love with men who weren't Charles, and was a very good and loving, if not perfect (because who is) mother. The thing is that all of these things can be true, and Diana was incredibly young when she died. She wasn't even 40. I think she was on a positive trajectory that would've likely led to her becoming a healthier person who did even more good for the world. But she wasn't a saint, and she wasn't a lunatic.

I think that what many modern interpretations of Diana do, in an attempt to shake this idea that she was perfect without being accused of portraying her as a bitch, is focus on her mental illness in this "Bertha Rochester in the attic" kind of way. Even the royal family has used this. Oh, she was crazy and paranoid so nothing she says can be true. As someone who suffers from mental illness myself (and I can actually say that watching old clips of Diana discussing self harm in her famous interview was *the first* time I'd seen someone that famous discuss self harm, and it did a lot to ease the shame I felt as a cutter) I find this take super offensive, and I always worry they'll go with that. Season 4 I actually thought would, however, and it didn't. It was clear about Diana's struggles and she wasn't always right, but it was sympathetic to her, and that is what I want here. Because at the end of the day--any way you slice it, Diana was a victim of that family. She was preyed upon by a man who not only was much older than her, but had known her since she was underage because he was fucking her sister and had a MASSIVE amount of power over her socially. She was set up by him, his family, and his mistress so that she could pump out babies, and they did not give a fuck about her fragility or her feelings. So whatever Diana became after that... I think is hard to separate from the abuse she suffered within the family. And I just don't think you can tell her story without some degree of sympathy on that level and keep me believing it. Because like... even if you're sympathetic to Charles, what world are we living in where you don't acknowledge what he did there.

I remember watching dil lagi as a kid for the first time and I really did loved the drama- scratch that, I ENJOYED every second of it. Until humayun's character slapped her :/ OMFGGG WHYYYYYY LITERALLY JUST WHY

why the FUCK do the makers love slapping their heroines so much. You bitches love hitting women so bad I genuinely hope every single one of you die. This is the same problem I had with o rangreza. I actually gasped so hard when q*sim slapped sassi. Cuz that was genuinely so shocking to me it felt so out of character omgggg I could rant about this all day. And then the makers try to redeem him by burning his hand 💀 11 year old me was not having it. I hate pakistani dramas with a passion with the exception of dastaan (tho hassan can, like, go away)

the thing that irritates me about it is that the slap concept is built into a lot of dramas as an inherent arbitrary thing that simply happens in a marriage (to the point that one of the biggest dramas this year engaged in it.. before the marriage even..) but dil lagi actively tried to like. make some sort of warped commentary about it and how mohid had to slap anmol so she would shut up and not defame her own character but also it was bad bc by slapping her he was defaming her character anyway and he should've known better than to do that but also she shouldn't have jumped to conclusions and assumed he was defaming her character which subsequently necessitated her yelling about how he was purportedly defaming her character and led to the slap.. like it was so abominably dumb and unnecessary, even moreso because it was placed at the literal tail end of the drama to create the most useless conflict ever. the entire appeal of the drama and the romance was in the fact that mohid was as placid as a lake and willing to be battered by every ounce of anmol's hatred until she came to realize on her own terms how much he cared about her, and instead that moment completely ruined it and any romantic momentum the drama originally had going for it. in one sense ig it wasn't unsurprising for a faiza iftikhar script bc while she does have a tendency to promote progressive depictions of love every once in a while the traditional religio-cultural practices do jump out. but it was such a shame and really tamped down everything else i had loved about the drama prior

also omg the fact that you were only 11 when o rangreza was airing you were a baaaaaby 😭 i really loved the commentary on sassi's relationship with her father but the sassi and qasim relationship's execution overall was very odd to digest and that slap is definitely a part of it. in general it's sad how few dramas there are that condemn that kind of abuse, even if it only comes down to one instance of it, unequivocally. i think there are dramas that have condemned consistent abuse (kankar, khaas, both of which are ironically sanam baloch dramas) but i've yet to see a drama where even a single slap is rightfully viewed for the horrific thing it is. interestingly dil lagi tried to view it as horrific but there were so many qualifiers to the situation that the alleged condemnation of the slap didn't have much weight to it (and who knows, maybe it would've had more weight if this was a storyline they'd pursued in the middle of the show rather than the end of it. though obv more than anything i would've preferred the drama to have no slap at all bc it wasn't necessary to their relationship in any logical sense). i'd really like to see a drama where a girl puts her foot down for good even if it only happens once
