Idk if I'm a special case for... Never having struggled with finding rp? As in "other people who also rp". Yeah back when I started it was mostly on forums, but I moved to Tumblr at the tail end of 2012, started rping here in 2013 maybe? 2013/2014. I didn't have any trouble finding the rpc of my target fandom back then.

All the writers who matched my style kind of stopped writing over the years, but even then the rpc wasn't dead even when I left it two or three years ago and moved to FFXIV rp.

And again. I didn't have trouble finding people. I made an account for FF stuff, followed some FF blogs, looked at what other blogs Tumblr suggested to me or who the blogs I checked out were reblogging from and such, and had populated my dash within a week or two. Sent out a few DMs, got some threads going (we'll ignore what Gia did to all my other muses when I created him later on, I'm so sorry. Boy really did line them all up behind the barn).

Of course this isn't... Someone who wants to newly get into rp struggling to find where to start with that. I already knew the platform I wanted to use (Tumblr/one-on-one Discord servers with people from Tumblr) and was familiar with that platform, so idk if that was what made all the difference. I don't know if it'd be harder to do what I did as a wee tween that very accidentally stumbled upon the rp section of a not-exclusively-rp site, gained a mighty interest in that despite barely knowing how to write English, and then... I honestly can't remember anymore how I found my first forums, but once I did, I followed their adverts sections to find more, until I landed on something that was still active and looked interesting.

Idk idk. I didn't realize the trouble of finding rp had become a hot topic at some point over the years lmao. At most I figured that the challenge lies not in finding people, but the right people whose writing styles and interests in topics to explore match yours, but that was always the case.

#all this coming from someone who tends to stay on the sidelines of any community #'cause i honestly just don't really enjoy the feeling of ''community''#i am a hermit and a loner by nature and get overwhelmed by social stuff far too easily #ANYWAY yeah i've seen some posts about this on my dash the past days #don't mind me i just find it curious that the sort of guides for ''how to find rp'' are necessary #another thing i see a lot of but have never had any personal experience with #are people who want to start ooc relationships based on ic relationships #like ''we ship our muses so THAT MEANS WE SHOULD START DATING'' sort of shit #like y'all alright out there #how do you keep finding creeps like that #anyway rambles over

i'm literally insane about the last agni kai and the lightning scene(s). i swear i've rewatched it 10+ times since my last rewatch of the show (which was my first watch in years) and like. azula sees katara come into view from behind. zuko doesn't. he follows azula's gaze and sees katara and is immediately horrified. he doesn't even think or hesitate because he doesn't have time and for once he doesn't have to look back at azula to figure out what she's doing because he knows what she's doing and he won't let it happen. time dwindling into slow motion as a haunting score plays? and zuko literally yelling out "no!" because that lightning absolutely cannot hit katara. as soon as he sees it there's no chance of that ever happening. and then katara watching in horror as the lightning flashes against features in what is probably one of the most hauntingly beautiful animated moments of the show? zuko hitting the ground still convulsing with lightning and katara crying out "zuko!" and immediately trying to run to him before azula attacks again? and the next scene we cut back to with them, zuko is groaning weakly and trying to lift himself up, and we see katara literally gasp in surprise as she realizes he's still alive (i'm sobbing because i do quite literally think she thought he was dead) and immediately tries to run to him again, nevermind that she knows azula is still there, and the hand katara uses for healing is already doused in water as she reaches for him. but then azula starts attacking again. and zuko, despite literally being in so much pain that he can't stand and can barely even move at all without whimpering, still tries to reach for the spot where he can see azula attacking katara. katara is forced to hide from azula's attacks. and as azula is mocking "zuzu, you don't look so good" down to zuko, the perspective shot is such that you can SEE that katara is also looking at where he lies prone in the distance, surrounded by flame (probably wondering how much time they have before it really is too late) before looking back up at azula and realizing she needs to defeat her as quickly and handily as possible so katara can get to zuko. obviously katara would have done this anyway (the whole reason they were THERE was to halt the continued cycle of the imperialist regime of the fire nation), but the scene is specifically framed as katara trying to figure out how to stop azula so the obstacle to her getting to zuko is no longer in the way. katara's defeat of azula was epic and deserves its own post. but then after making sure azula is securely chained, she runs to zuko, looks at him with such immense sadness and horror and fear as she hears him in so much pain, tenderly turns him over so she can get a good look at the wound. and she cups his head? briefly but so gently? so that he won't hit it as she turns him over? and when she tries to heal him you can tell she is so genuinely unsure if it will even work, and so relieved that she starts crying tears of joy when she sees it has (at least enough to keep him alive and somewhat lessen his pain.) they thank each other (and you can tell it's still really hard for zuko to talk and his eyes are barely open but he thanks her anyways i'm.) and she thanks him back and!!! when he starts to try to sit up she makes a little surprised face and then immediately helps him to do so (and puts a tender hand to his chest while she does!!!) and obviously that last shot of them standing together is also one of emotional support, but katara's hand on his back is also partly because i still think (and certainly katara still thinks) trying to walk/stand on his own would be a bad idea, so it's definitely not happening.

#y'all. let me tell you right now. there was a way to write and animate this scene that didn't play on a dozen romantically coded tropes #and this. uh. wasn't that!#zutara #i know this is basically just reciting what happened ( i almost included the actual way katara defeats azula but that wasn't the point of t #is particular post and also would have made it even longer.)#but #there is nothing about this sequence of events that does not make me feel like i am on drugs.#also you Know zuko immediately after this was like: alright well i guess i've got shit to do! then promptly falls unconscious again. tbh #the joke is on him if he thinks katara is letting him out of sight for a While #atla #zuko #katara #this isn't even particularly analytical i'm just gushing #i'm not joking i will never be over it.#the last agni kai #sozin's comet

Entitled customers are funny, imagine kicking up such a fuss with our managers that 2 mall security guards had to be called to come mediate all because you and your wife not only can't read but also can't see that our menu literally serves soft poached egg, not a boiled egg, in our Japanese rice bowls

Anyway read the menu properly y'all and ask questions if you're unsure, don't be a dick to hospitality workers especially over dumb shit

#this happened yesterday during boxing day #it was truly hilarious to me #this lady came to complain about our egg not being boiled fully #to which my managers were like 'yeah our menu only serves soft boiled it's shown and written very clearly on it'#but apparently this lady wasn't happy with that answer cause she left and then sent her husband back with the bowl to argue!!!!#and my managers were like nah we're gonna call security to mediate cause this guy legit just kept raising his voice #anyway in the time span of waiting for security to show up #this guy literally pulls his phone out to record a negative review of us which lmao alright #and then proceeds to tell customers looking at our menu to not order from us cause we've got bad food #they still ordered from us anyway with 1 customer saying to my coworker that they hoped he left soon cause he was making them uncomfortable #anyway security shows up and them + the guy + my managers talk for like 10+ minutes #with this guy apparently mentioning at one point that he wants us shut down #just to remind y'all if you're reading this that this is all over a soft boiled egg that is very clearly shown on the menu #and the whole thing ended with 1 of the security coming in to the shop to watch us remake the bowl without the egg #because apparently the guy was afraid we'd do something to his bowl #security looked done with this and apologised to us for this guy being so rude #also before anyone says anything both this guy and wife were fluent in English so it wasn't a matter of them not being able to read our men #and also again our bowls show a very obvious not hard boiled egg #anyway i hope they had an awful day afterwards for being such entitled dicks to us

#song of the day #Sleep Token really saving my sanity as we navigate this dark and uncertain time without an upgraded sibling singalong playlist #had to go out into the snow on under two hours' sleep to get groceries #(the farmers' market gave me kefir cheese so any amount of suffering would've been worthwhile but I couldn't know that at the time)#and getting into Nick's car knowing there was music I could request that he could play loud as he wanted and I wouldn't want to cry #I mean blessing isn't even a strong enough term. baking a cake for the Sleep Token guy (his name is Vessel) as we speak #anyway this song sounds incredible in the original and then so odd sung acapella. like singing a bass line just a couple beats repeating #polar opposite of my lady indie covers. a song rendered fully unrecognizable when I wander the house mumbling it to myself #the verses do alright I suppose but the chorus is out of the question. the lyrics are so strong too real gut-punch lines #'and my reflection just won't smile back at me like I know it should / and I would turn into a stranger in an instant if I could #and there is something eating me alive I don't know what it is / maybe not that you conceal your feelings they just don't exist'#the whole song is like that it is so so so good. every new Sleep Token song I hear I'm like oh of course yes I see why these are fic titles #(Sleep Token catching up to Fall Out Boy and Hozier in terms of lines I've seen as fic titles. “Now then, what can I do for you?” Lina asked, leaning forward in her chair.

“Like I said: I had a discussion with King Regis and the Lord Marshal not too long ago. And considering everything that's been going on, I think we will need a law keeper to help. Along with some law books. Do you know somebody who would be willing to do it?”

For a long moment Lina seemed to study him, her light brown eyes holding a piercing intensity. Nyx simply decided to study her in return. The wrinkles on her face told of her worry and joy in equal measure, while her braided hair still held its raven black colour with barely any grey hairs shining through like silver thread.

“I can understand why you might need a law keeper,” she said at last. “For all that we can be considered an independent nation under Lucian law now, our exact standing in Insomnia still needs to be ironed out. Same with the Kingsglaive I imagine. Anything else?”

“We'll need the laws concerning declaring someone Nameless.”

Here Lina raised her eyebrows until the wrinkles on her forehead stood out in stark prominence.

“Oh?” she said.

Nyx sighed. “I haven't been back long enough to announce it yet, so please keep what I'll tell you quiet for now.”

Lina gave a slow nod. “As long as you'll do so soon. If it's concerning Namelessness you cannot wait too long.”

“I know, believe me. I simply don't want to say this more often than I have to, so I'm planning to wait until the others return from the training trip in a few days.”

With startling clarity Nyx realised he should have asked the King what he was planning with that information. Fuck. Well, no use crying over some spoiled meat. Hopefully he wouldn't say anything before Nyx did. Otherwise none of the Galahkari would be happy. With him or the situation.

“Sounds reasonable,” Lina said. “However, I reserve my right to change my opinion once I know the details.”

“Fair,” Nyx agreed.

It wasn't like he could really order her not to say anything. He could only ask her to follow his lead on this.

“Now then: Why do you need a consultation on those laws?”
