Lmaooo okay so at my second job I am not very attached to or familiar with…many of the people at all because I work in a very small, isolated corner and only part-time.

Tonight I was vibing and this lady walks up to me who had a badge like she worked there, so I just started chatting about stuff and I brought up this dumbass policy that I said needed to be abolished some day and went on and on about how it was causing stupid problems…

The lady was chill like, “Yeah I hear you” and we parted ways all friendly-like, but then I saw someone call her name and it dawned on me…

She was one of the lead managers in the store that had actively enforced said policy before…like it was part of her job….

Am I the only one wondering how the velaryons are still on team Black's side?

Like seriously, Rhaenyra and Daemon disrespect them at every given occasion, yet they still somehow want to support her claim.

Strike 1 was Rhaenyra cheating on their son and not being called out on it by anyone.

(She and Laenor have a deal and both cheat on each other, but his parents don't know that. For all they know their daughter in law has been disregarding her duty as his wife and claiming her bastards as Laenors.)

Which is already not great at all since that means the next lord of the tides won't be an actual Velaryon.

Despite everything though Corlys is willing to overlook that because "history remembers names, not blood." but that doesn't mean they are happy with this.

Strike 2 was everything that happened with poor Laena. Daemon prevented her from going back to Driftmark to be with her family and she died far from her parents and her beloved home, which is already horrible.

Then at her funeral their former son in law starts laughing. I honestly would have snapped at that point.

But that's not even the worst part! Because not long after her funeral, Rhaenyra and Daemon have their only remaining child murdered so they can get married.

(Once again, Laenor isn't actually dead, but his parents can't know that.)

So now, both of their kids are dead, indirectly or directly because of D*emyra.

And then they get married immediately! Their spouses have barely stopped burning and they are already tying the knot, without even pretending to be grieving for their losses or wait the required period of mourning like in the books.

And all of this is without even considering how Vaemond was brutally executed by Daemon for telling the truth about the strong boys's parentage, and calling them not his blood.

The velaryons have shown support for them on pultiple occasions and got shat on every. single. time.

Yet for some reason they still think Rhaenyra should be in charge.

In the end, even during the dance they still draw the short end of the stick.

Rhaenys is killed by Aegon and Aemond because, in spite of her strength and ability as a dragon rider,she can't beat two dragons by herself, and Rhaenyra basically sacrifices her by sending her all alone to help their allies.

Corlys is damn right for saying that with more reinforcements his wife would have lived.

Oh and then we have that whole mistery affair that Jace has with Sara. Obviously it's all speculation and rumors, but if it were true, that would just be the last blatant insult to house Velaryon. They deserved much better.

Law & Order, FBI, Grey’s Anatomy and 9-1-1: Lone Star fans are set to be able to enjoy some new episodes of their favorite shows in the 2023-24 broadcast season after the WGA and the AMPTP struck a tentative deal that would end the writers strike.

While the actors strike still needs to be resolved and the writers deal still needs to be voted on and ratified, there is optimism that the majority of network dramas and comedies will be able to launch in the new year. Deadline spoke to a group of network execs, who said that by and large it will take drama series eight to 10 weeks to be back up and running and six to eight weeks for comedies.

If writers can get back to their desks around the beginning of October, which is likely given that there’s a suggestion that the WGA might vote to lift the strike restraining order as soon as the end of this week, execs agree that dramas can be back on air early to mid-March. This applies mostly to procedurals such as the One Chicago franchise, The Rookie, NCIS and The Cleaning Lady — essentially series without too many special effects.

This would mean shooting to begin around Thanksgiving. Shoot weeks also could increase from five days a week to six and many could keep working through the end of the year, rather than following the “private school” schedule that sees many break for Christmas much earlier in December. This also depends on when (and if) SAG-AFTRA closes a deal with the AMPTP. Execs suggest that for these dates to work, the actors union would have to be back and ready to work in mid-November. Other believe that it’s more realistic to start shooting in January.

ok i'm doing another platonic one: moon & ember! i have read the few existing moon & ember fics so many times i can no longer separate them from canon. their dynamic is everything 2 me. bodyguard & anger translator. damaged hottie with trust issues & naive little pretty boy who just wants to go home. moon sees ember as not just a romantic rival but also a threat to his place in the colony, and of course being moon, his reaction to that is not to challenge ember but just to assume that he's been replaced and that he has to start over again alone. ember is everything that moon is not, everything he's convinced he's supposed to be, but ACTUALLY they're both perfect the way they are and there's room enough in this court for the both of them. they are so powerful when they combine their complementary skillsets for the good of the colony. plus i love that every time he interacts with anyone moon is probably thinking, "ugh, i bet EMBER wouldn't be fucking this up"…but also he's defending ember when stone makes fun of him and offering to challenge the reigning queen on ember's behalf! he's protective of ember even as ember embodies everything that makes him insecure. meanwhile ember thinks moon is the coolest person to ever exist and also. extremely cringe. probably 25% of his pillow talk is him subtly trying to convince pearl that moon is just a little birthday boy who should be allowed to be a hugely oversensitive weirdo, as a treat.

people have been rbing some of my cherry magic posts recently so i've been thinking about kurodachi again. i miss them! they're so well matched, so complementary in the ways that they need to grow, and it's lovely to watch them help each other do that. the way that adachi is inspired to make an effort by kurosawa's continuous striving for things he thinks he'll never get, and the way that adachi's apathy for perfection frees kurosawa from his need to be worthy…like ok fine whatever i am listening!!!

Currently Reading: i just finished my reread of maskerade, the discworld book about the opera, which i had put on hold after reading le fantôme de l'opéra. it wasn't one of my fave discworlds as a teen but i think i'm now in the right headspace for it. enjoyed it quite a bit!

i'm near the end of both the traitor baru cormorant by seth dickinson and par amour by valérie tong cuong. the latter is about a family in le havre during wwii and is very hard to put down. i have honestly no idea what will happen in the remaining two chapters except the nazis are going to lose the war. the traitor baru cormorant is well done, but i don't think i like it enough to read the sequel. (i still am pathologically unable to stop a book that i've started, but i've just discovered that i am capable of stopping after book 1 of a series. life hack!!)

Currently watching: natsume season 4 dub! i just watched the moon-splitting festival arc and the baby nanase episode yesterday. next up is the one about natsume's picture of his parents which. like. let's just say i am marshaling my emotional forces for that one.

also it is about to be march madness! selection sunday tomorrow babey!!!

Currently consuming: the great thing (sarcastic) about living alone is that you spend four hours making this quinoa black bean dish and then have to somehow eat all of it before it goes bad. luckily my neighbor and i have been doing this cute thing for the last ~6 months where we share whatever food we make with each other. this has been working out extremely well for me, because when he cooks i get to eat without having to do anything whatsoever, and when i cook i don't have to worry as much about quantity. i feel like i tricked him into it somehow even though he is getting exactly the same thing out of it as i am.

Currently craving: a baked good i made for the first time recently and then made again two times in rapid succession because i (and my neighbor lol) liked it so much: gingies! okay technically the recipe calls them gingerbread cookie bars, and i just looked up "gingies" (to make sure it's not an offensive term for redheads that i don't know about) and apparently it's frequently used for gingersnaps, but MY use of "gingies" is right and correct and all these other people are idiots. the reason is that they're basically brownies (texture/structure/technique-wise) but with the gingerbread flavor profile instead of chocolate. and "gingeries" sounds stupid, so gingies it is!

Thank you so much for the ask, Mima! <3 Kinda in the mood to gush about a less main character today so have some random stuff about Paa! -Kissai's half-sister, she was the product of their father re-marrying after Kissai's mother died in the war. He fell for & married a Dathomirian Zabrak. Unfortunately (I hc that the reason we don't "see" hybrids in game, for a less stupid reason than "the devs couldn't be bothered so they made it not possible" /lh, is not necessarily because they don't exist but rather because (particularly when the mother is the non-Pureblood of the couple) they're prone to a LOT of complications during pregnancy and/or birth) her birth killed her mom so she was raised by her dad and older half-brother. -She ended up with a few (relatively minor) complications as a pre-teen/early teen which led to her father and Kissai seeking out Vastas (D'leah's father & the current Emperor at the time) on Korriban and asking if the Empress consort might be able to help her. Tangentially this is how Kissai ends up becoming D'leah's Wai Tarar bodyguard, as a sort of "paying the royals back for saving my sister's life and also I Have A Big Crush On The Heiress And Maybe Then She'll Notice Me" XD -Paa gets better pretty quickly with Saa'thri's more experienced healing techniques and the Empress consort ends up forming something of a (mentor/apprentice, to be clear for the weirdos I know are lurking around here smh) soft spot for Paa so she ends up apprenticed to her. And therefore ends up hanging around D'leah a lot and becoming friends with her.

-Poor Paa then ends up being the person stuck in the middle of all the UST between D'leah and her brother and she was The Most Exasperated about it even if she'd outright deny helping Vowrawn play cupid if asked. 😂

-She looks like a Pureblood outwardly but does have some cool Zabrak anatomy. She has the two hearts for example (as she likes to call it, "doesn't matter if I get stabbed in the heart, I have a spare" XD), and her browstalks and jaw spurs are very much "static", they can't flex or move/rattle like a regular Pureblood's can because her Sith jaw spur/browstalk genes and Zabrak horn genes got a little scrambled so she ended up with spurs made entirely of bone instead of "bone supported by cartilage but still fairly mobile". When D'leah loses the spurs/browstalk on the left side of her face to a concussion grenade injury, Paa helps Kissai to help D'leah adjust to a "new" non-verbal communication technique as it was a big change for D'leah to suddenly NOT be able to use all her spurs the way she was used to. (and thinking about it this prob solidified their friendship bc hey, Paa got it, she understood why D'leah was frustrated ;-; )

-Learnt everything there is to know about Force healing and a great many other ancient Sith techniques from D'leah's mother. She is fully and entirely capable of tearing someone in two with the Force if she wanted to. She just prefers not to and would rather use her talents to heal. Make no mistake tho if things get desperate she can and will wreck your shit to protect her family.

-Paa and D'leah are/were pretty good friends since they both trained with Saa'thri, often together as it gave them someone to "practise" with and this led to them becoming quite close despite the fact that Paa's a hybrid and that would otherwise be a "no no" to D'leah (yes, D'leah is a hypocrite, this is in character for her do not @ me /hj 😜). Paa is probably one of the few "commoners" who can sass D'leah and get away with it because they're just that good of friends, even before Paa became her sister-in-law.

-I've mostly used Paa in the Zephyrverse AU RPs, but I love her so much that actually I do really want to try and shoehorn her into Subterfugeverse as well, I just...do not know how to yet 😔🤘 so that may or may not happen at all in the future, we'll see.
