Meet The Mun!
ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘɪᴄᴋ ᴜᴘ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ ᴍᴜꜱᴇ(ꜱ) ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ?
Well... To be honest, I don't entirely know. I decided to play the XVI demo when it came out, and at first I was like, "oh no he's hot but he's so dead" when Elwin first showed up. But as soon as the throne room scene started, and he told Clive, "Alright, you can stop licking my boots. Your mother isn't here," I had this intense feeling of, "I need to RP as him." The inspiration just... struck me so unbelievably hard, and I haven't had that happen since like, 2014? Somewhere around there? So I made this blog, the same day, and now here we are!
ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ?
Hmm. There are a few subjects that I absolutely won't write, like sexual abuse, CSA, and relations between adults and minors. (Which is one of many reasons why I'm still glaring daggers at XVI's Ultimania book for their listed ages of characters like Anabella and Hanna.) As a general rule of thumb, if it's an intense subject other than those listed above, I'd like to talk and plan it out first, so that all parties are okay with it and no one gets shocking/dark content sprung on them unexpectedly.
ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ᴡʀɪᴛɪɴɢ?
Heeheehee. Horror, actually -- most specifically, psychological horror. The last fandom before this one that I was hardcore devoted to was for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. As much as I love angst, fluff, drama, silliness, adventure, fighting(although I am super, super rusty with this one), etc., horror is the sort of dark content that I love. Give me brutality and torture, give me gore, give me body horror, give me psychological terror. Give me the fucked up and the disturbing, and you'll have me doing the M. Bison "Yes! YES!" thing.
ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴꜱ?
Inspiration, mostly. I try and twist ideas around so that they're at least vaguely plausible in canon, but really it's a matter of inspiration -- if an idea jumps out at me and really resonates with me regarding my muse, then it gets mulled over until it's fleshed out enough to be written as a headcanon.
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ɪɴ ꜱɪʟᴇɴᴄᴇ ᴏʀ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀʏ ᴍᴜꜱɪᴄ?
Definitely play music. To be honest, I listen to music most of the time as it is, when I'm not talking with people. (And even then, sometimes when I'm on vc, I have music playing very quietly in the background.) It's not an inspiration thing, or anything like that; it's just that music is what keeps me focused. Grounded, I guess, so that my brain doesn't float away and get distracted by 100 different things while running in another 100 different directions all at the same time. It acts as a sort of tether to keep me on track!
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʀᴇᴘʟɪᴇꜱ ᴏʀ ᴡɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇᴍ?
It depends. Sometimes, inspiration smacks me upside the head with a brick for writing a particular reply. Other times, I have bits and pieces of ideas for various parts of the reply, but I have to sit with it for a while and map it out in my head first, if that makes sense? Then I can actually physically write it out, reread it over and over, and make adjustments as necessary. But much of that is also because I have the awful tendency to overthink constantly...
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ꜱʜɪᴘᴘɪɴɢ?
Yes! As long as there's chemistry between the two muses, definitely. My favorite thing is when characters grow closer over time, and love grows that way -- but I'm not at all opposed to jumping head-first into the deep end if the chemistry is good enough and the muses just... naturally click.

It used to be winter because of snow, but now it's summer or fall. I like summer because of the sunshine and hotter temperatures, but hate the storms that come with it. I like fall because while it's cooler, there are significantly less storms... (Can you tell I'm terrified of storms?)

weird thoughts about books
In book 9, at one point, Bronte calls Elwin “Edwin” but in the same memory - one the same page even- he calls him by the right name. Is it just a typo? Who knows?
does anybody else think that telepaths are autistically coded? They hate loud noises, and as examples from the books are sort of separated from everyone else- Sophie obviously, but Tiergan doesn’t like to hold hands, and also the Foster Oblivion; not seeing things that others think are obvious, or even mentioning things that aren’t what others consider pertinent to the story - like the order of the phoenix reference when choosing a name, and having none of the other elves get it, I always imagine Sophie’s face at this point as embarrassed at a bit confused, as to her, it was a massive part of her life, but unknown to others.
speaking of characters being neurodivergently coded, the Corcoran twins from “Two Can Keep a Secret”- Ellery literally describes Chucky E. Cheese as a ‘sensory assault’, and keeps one friend, and is obsessed with murder and mysteries- far too much to be neurotypical. As for Ezra, he immediately finds friends like him, as he can relate to them more than trying to get friends with different interests, as they wouldn’t be able to be close friends, ‘hello new friend’
everyone in the PJO fandom talks about how there are many errors in the timeline and in the characters themselves, but that isn’t Rick’s fault- isn’t it an editors job to not only correct any spelling and grammar errors, but also to look back into books (or even keep a mind map about the characters, and the storyline), to make sure there is no errors?
For the Karen M. McManus books, the sprayed edges match the colour of the titles, right? Except for a few. “You’ll be the death of me” should have purple edges, but it has no colour, and I know it isn’t because it was after they stopped doing it, because I got it pretty much right after it was published. “The cousins” should be gold, but it is black!? It messes up the whole thing, especially as “one of us is back” has a silvery-black title, and black sprayed edges.
Also on sprayed edges, the Waterstones exclusive hardback edition of “the three headed goddess” is so pretty! So is the first ‘Fireborn”, and the “paper dragons” book.

I’ll tell you about the story very creatively called ‘Elrond and Elros have a baby sister’
It starts with the third kinslaying and Maedhros finding a feral child who looks A LOT like Elwing and tries to stab him with a kitchen knife. He tosses him in a closet, locks the door and goes to find Maglor to sort the situation. When they come back, there is another child, identical to the first, trying to open the closet. Maglor immediately decides to take them in for reasons I haven’t entirely figured out yet but there’s a lot of guilt in there.
Anyways, M&M take the twins with them. Elros, keeps glaring at them and biting everyone who tries to touch him and Elrond swears like a sailor and hisses at people. They refuses anyone touch their pack even tough it looks heavy. Until the pack starts crying. Because there’s a baby inside. Elrond admits he sung his little sister, Elrodel, to sleep when the Fëanorians first entered Sirion and she slept through the kinslaying and a good chunk of the journey to the Fëanorian camp. Maglor realises this child he just kidnapped not only looks like a tiny Lúthien but he also has a LOT of power. Also, he has to find a wet nurse asap.
The kidap fam finds some sort of routine, the twins grudgingly accepting to obey Maglor for Elrodel’s sakes. They take very seriously the task of telling her about her true parents and teaching her the little songs Elwing taught them. Times goes on, Elrond’s Song becomes more and more powerful and he also starts having visions of the future. Elros too has them in some measure but his thing is reading people’s mind. Elrodel is a hellion of a baby, always making so much noise and biting people once she stars teething and generally making M&M’s lives miserable. It appears that her part-Maia thing is turning into a seagull. Maglor freaks out the first time it happens in his presence and Elros is very blasé and says something along the lines of "yeah, she does that sometimes. Mind her beak, she bites." And gull-chick Elrodel immediately proceeds to bite Maglor.
Moving on to the end of the first age/early second age: the twins and Elrodel live at Gil-Galad’s court and Elrodel starts apprenticing with Círdan. She reminds him a lot of Eärendil, in both looks and temper (the feral part comes from Elwin and being raised by Maglor).
I kind of want to insert something about the Silmarils, with Elrodel using a loophole in the wording of the oath to try prevent M&M steal them and make the Oath void but I still haven’t figured this part out, mostly if she fails and things go as in canon or her risked plan works but M&M still end up badly because they’re too far gone. Either ways it’s be angsty.
But as Elros becomes a leader of Men and Elrond carves his place as the King’s Herald, Elrodel tries desperately to reconnect with the heritage and family she never knew and reject her Feanorian upbringing. She’s sarcastic and angry but also very sad and lost.
She spends a good part of the Second Age building a giant lighthouse on the isle of Hilming and inventing morse code to chat with Eärendil. She also works with Celebrimbor on a flying ship and calls it Nimgwael (white gull). Using both her skin changing ability and her ship, she works as a courrier between Númenor and Lindon and as an unofficial spymaster for the kings of both kingdoms until Elros’ death and only Gil-Galad afterwards. During the various wars of the Second Age, she uses the Nimgwael as an airforce with giant crossbows on her ship. It’s her was to reconcilliate her birth heritage and what she learned growing up with the Fëanorian.
At some point she marries a fellow sailor and they work on more crazy inventions and she’s Elrond’s children Cool Aunt.
And that leads me to the end of the Third Age where Elrodel pops up in Dale to ask the new King Bad if she can buy the corpse of Smaug because she needs dragon scales to repair/upgrade her flying ship as it’s the only material strong and light enough for this. Bard is suitably baffled but hd won’t refuse gold against getting rid of the dead dragon at the bottom of the lake. After that, I see Elrodel making aerial raids against Sauron’s forces during the War of the Ring with her little flying ship and she’s an asset in retaking the ships from the Umbar corsairs.
I don’t really have an ending appart that she sails West only after Arwen’s death. And in Valinor she will work hard to create a relationship with her parents she doesn’t even remember. Maybe she works shifts on Vingilot so Eärendil can spend time ashore with Elwing?
Also, maybe she finds Maglor pathetically wandering the shores and brings him home by the scruff of the neck…
And here’s my very long, very rambling post about this fic that has been living rent free in my brain for months but words seems to evaporate the second I try to write it 🤷🏻♀️

Final Fantasy XVI Review (No Spoilers Edition)
Welcome to my FFXVI Review No Spoilers Version! I will probably make a spoileriffic version later, but I hope people can use this to determine whether or not this game is a good investment for them.
In this case, "no spoilers" does include information from the demo. Because the demo is free.
What is it?
Final Fantasy XVI, or Final Fantasy XIV as Google insists it is when I look up anything about Final Fantasy XVI, is the sixteenth main number installment of the Final Fantasy series, released as a Playstation 5 exclusive. However, it does not require any previous knowledge or experience of the previous game series--actually more so than the other Final Fantasys. For better or worse.
It's an action combat game, one the gameplay director actually received assistance from other studios specializing in those sort of games, including PlatinumGames (from Nier: Automata) and the Kingdom Hearts development team (from...Kingdom Hearts).
The dramatic, emotional story has been inspired by Western dramas, including Game of Thrones. Taking place in a fantasy setting with magic and dragons and magic dragons, it seeks to blend the gritty nature of the power struggles of warring territories with the imaginative nature of magic, deities, and the type of scenery that can only exist in a fantasy.
What is it about?
Our victim protagonist is Clive Rosfield, the first son of the Duke of Rosaria. As the first son born to the union of Duke Elwin and his (hopefully distant) cousin/wife Anabella, Clive was expected to be a Dominant--the person who wields the power of the Eikon/local god Phoenix. When he is passed over of this as well as inheriting the duchy in favor of his sickly younger brother, Joshua, Clive dedicates himself to protecting Joshua.
But, because Square Enix produced this game, Clive can't have anything nice.
What follows is a story of tragedy, determination, betrayal, and ultimately love. As genre-savvy as I was, I still cried out of joy and sadness for Clive's journey. The characters are well written and the world building suits the narrative.
As suiting the M rating, this is...a mature narrative.
There's a lot going on in this story, and thankfully they incorporate an "Active Time Lore" button that can allow you to keep track of the most relevant info at all times.
High tier story. No complaints.
That said, there is one point in the story where we get a "Point of No Return". However, the game warns you before hand and only a few things are permanently missable.
Okay, how's the gameplay?
The game introduces you to two versions of the game when you start: Action-Mode which is the more traditional game-focused experience, and Story-Mode which is the more story-focused experience--meaning more accessible gameplay for combat.
That being said, in Action Mode, you still get access the the same accessories that simply gameplay, so you can switch/mix-and-match anytime you want.
With Story-mode gameplay, the combat is pretty simple: Just press Square. Clive will make combos, dodge...pretty much everything automatically. This is a great feature for those who do want to enjoy this as an interactive story--and there are people who do and that's alright.
With Action Mode gameplay, you need to think a little more since you'll be more direct in dodging, combo creation, and more--but not too much. You realize a lot of it is based on the powers you gain/develop and the combinations you create. No two gamers will probably have the same set, and you get to build a Clive that works best for you.
Either way, developing Clive's abilities thankfully isn't permanent! If you realize you put too much of your Ability Points in Column A when now you think it should be Column B, you're able to detract and add at your leisure. And you can switch between Action and Story modes too.
Also, and most importantly, Clive's hound "Torgal" joins you in your journey.
Torgal assists you in combat through the combination of AI as well as direct commands (or automatically inputted ones through helpful accessories). And he can get pets. Lots of pets. Because he is the goodest boy.
A la previous Final Fantasys, Clive will have the option to engage in sidequests that will start off as menial tasks and then have a 50/50 chance to make you feel all the things. At least you can pet Torgal through your problems.
Sounds good. What did you wish you knew before you played?
You may have heard a lot of hype about this Final Fantasy being open world. While this is technically correct, the world itself does want for something.
Now, to be fair, the narrative justifies the areas of the world that are lacking. There is a continental war going on, not to mention severe environmental hazards. Forgive the locals if building a mini-golf course isn't a priority.
What abilities do I need to level up to get an Odin one? haha sorry
Most of the landmarks exist to move the narrative along, introduce you to key characters, and explain the realities of the war and the economy. Let's just say that I understand the can of worms that would have happened if there were black people in this game.
Also, death is cheap. Really cheap. There are no penalties for dying--there aren't even trophies associated with not dying. So die and retry as much as you like.
I only have so much money. Should I be racing to buy this, or can I wait for a possible sale?
This is not a Day 1 sale that you'd regret. However, it's also not one that you would regret waiting for either. Unfortunately, I think being spoiled may take away the impact of some moments or scenes, and people are probably going to want to spoil things soon. If you're someone who likes a good story and hates being spoiled, I'd get this sooner rather than later.
Bonus Question: Is this a Final Fantasy? I hear people say it's not a true Final Fantasy.
There is a more spoiler-laded discussion to be had with this, but Final Fantasy has transcended the need for every game to be alike years ago. More than 2 decades ago in fact. Try playing Final Fantasy II after Final Fantasy I. Or Final Fantasy X then Final Fantasy XIV. It is very evident that there are threads that link them together, but so many things that set them apart.
In short, I do believe that this is a Final Fantasy. I believe that fans of Final Fantasy will enjoy this game. I believe that newcomers will enjoy this game. If you're interested and enjoy top tier stories and fun action combat, you'll enjoy this.

generate a pokemon team for your muse.
hisuian typhlosion / m / hardy.
a little aggressive, but good-hearted. clive finds the little guy as a cyndaquil, probably saves him from some kind of danger, and they become close. fire pokemon of some nature are a must for his team ( gestures to clive's whole character aesthetic )
ampharos ( mega ) / f / hasty.
another pokemon he got when it was little ( mareep ) and raised over a long period of time. she was shy at first, but over time found her confidence. overly curious, a bit too smart for her own good at times & very friendly.
absol ( mega / ice ) / m / brave.
torgal :) his first pokemon. he's probably born noble in this world, too. let's just say pokemon elwin caught the baby absol for him out on an expedition. he's always been protective of clive. loves treats, and is much softer than he looks.
groudon / bold.
obligatory legendary for the protagonist. groudon is the most ifrit-coded legendary imo, for lore / vibes / music and such. i like to think they had a rough first interaction and there's some story to how he finally challenged groudon and won the battle / became close partners with them through time.
flygon / m / quiet.
i wanted a ground-themed pokemon ( to follow the trend of having an eikon's 'element' for at least one pokemon ), and though flygon isn't exactly a traditional looking ground type, they stood out to me as the kind of creature clive would be drawn to. another one he probably found when it was little. very polite.
noivern / f / serious.
she can be a bit intimidating, but means well. she often forgets her size, and will try to perch on clive's head or shoulder like she did as a little creature.

TLDR: Byron Rosfield is the brother of Archduke Elwin and a smart businessman that has maintained a place in the favor of Sanbreque. He is deeply involved with his family and is easy to get along with, just as long as you don’t criticize his morals. Despite his work in commerce, he’s also skilled on the battlefield.
Background: Byron Rosfield was born the second son of the archduke of Rosaria and younger brother of Elwin Rosfield, who would later go on to take his father’s place. As the second born, there was never any expectation for Bryon to inherit the throne or title of archduke, and thus he was able to live a much more free and lively existence than his brother. Byron was a loud and playful child, and while that was often a means for his getting in trouble, he brought life to an otherwise somewhat stuffy existence. However, his family was warm and loving despite his antics, and he grew to learn compassion and respect for all peoples be they bearer or dominant as he grew older. Once he came of age, he was given a lump sum of money by his family and sent away to start his life on his own, and start he did. Take the money he was given, Bryon began making investments, and before long he was a well-respected tradesman, even going on to become the warden of the Port Isolde. But while a businessman by trade, Byron was no less intimidating on the battlefield where he wielded an axe and to this day claims to have made a name for himself. Furthermore, while Byron never found time in his busy life to settle down himself, he was ever present in the lives of his brother and his family, tending to his nephews as if they were his own children. He played with his nephews extensively and tried to give them a good life in addition to (and sometimes in spite of) the lives they already lead. After the Night of Flames, Byron stole away and sought to preserve himself by keeping loyal to the empire, doing everything he could to keep his wealth and status. Secretly he supported the Guardians and the work they did, and when he discovered Clive was still alive he immediately abandoned his song and dance to join the cause to bring equality to Valisthea.
Abilities: Byron is a savvy businessman with a good handle on both politics and casual banter. He is also quite skilled in battle, being able to keep pace with his nephew and other members of his crew. Personality: Byron has a bright and jovial personality, being inclined to make jokes and playful banter with anyone he shares a space with, even in the heat of battle. He has no trouble making friendly with strangers and creating what can become deep and emotional relationships over a short amount of time. That being said, he has a very strong sense of justice and morality, and he has little patience for those who do not share his ideals. If you don’t respect bearers, you’re not likely to fall high on his list of acquaintances. Similarly, while Byron has a deep dislike for politics and the people entrenched in them, he has developed a good sense of discretion when dealing with them. He can handle himself in most social situations, even ones he isn’t particularly keen on being a part of. In fact, he’s far more likely to get into explosive arguments with his close friends than he is strangers.
Relationships: Byron has a very strong sense of community and family, caring deeply for his nephews and willing to throw every ounce of his hard-earned money into aiding them during their journey. If one is to be close to him at all, getting in the good graces of his family is a good way to earn his trust. He isn’t difficult to be friends with, either, as he often actively enjoys talking and getting to know others, and making friends is almost as easy as supporting his viewpoints and way of life. When it comes to romance, he isn’t particularly opposed to the idea, but it is certainly the farthest thing from his mind. With his world in minor chaos and so much to do, he’s not spending much time worrying about finding love. However, he isn’t entirely against the idea, on occasion even imagining settling down with someone once the world is at peace again.
Hobbies: Byron’s most prominent hobby is collecting rare treasures. He isn’t shy at all about spoiling himself with material luxuries, and he will spend large chunks of his wealth on obtaining pieces to enrage his close friend and collecting rival Havel. He also enjoys sparring for fun and keeping up his form with some practice. It’s especially fun with inexperienced young men and women who could learn a thing or two from a more experienced arm.

Fairy Tail has returned from Tenro Island. Isgard takes the threat of Zeref and Acnologia seriously. “I drew you a picture.” Keefe glanced down at the carpet. “I hope you like it.”
Elwin smiled at him warmly. “I'm sure I’ll love it!”
Keefe raised the piece of paper he had been holding.
It was a sketch of Elwin laughing, glasses askew, warmth in his eyes.
It was the way Keefe pictured him.
Elwin pressed a hand to his heart. “Keefe… I love it.”
Keefe offered him a tentative smile. “You do?”
“I do!” Elwin held out a hand. “May I see it?”
He was going to tear it into pieces. He would destroy it. He didn’t like the way Keefe had drawn him. He hated it.
Keefe clutched the piece of paper tighter to himself. “You can’t have it!”
Elwin drew his hand back. “Oh, okay. Well, it’s a very nice drawing.”
And now he hated Keefe because he wouldn’t give him the drawing. There was no way to win. Why had he thought the drawing was a good idea?
Keefe felt his throat closing up. He couldn’t be here while he cried. Elwin would get angry.
He turned and fled to his room, holding onto the drawing like it would fix everything.

Elwin stood outside Keefe’s room and took a deep breath.
He should have known better.
He shouldn’t have asked Keefe to give him the drawing. He messed up again.
He rubbed his eyes and groaned.
This parenting thing was harder than he thought it would be.
He just had to trust himself and Keefe. They would learn together.
Elwin knocked softly on the door. “Keefe? May I come in?”
A sob came from inside.
Elwin was torn. Should he go in and comfort him? Should he leave him alone?
But one thought pushed through all the others.
He couldn’t leave him alone again. He couldn’t abandon him like his parents had.
He started to yank the door open, but slowed, gently turning the knob and stepping inside.
Keefe was curled in a ball on his yellow bed, tears staining his cheeks.
Elwin rushed forward and sat next to him, stroking his hair. “Keefe. I’m here. It’s okay. It’ll all be okay.”
Keefe shook with sobs.
“Keefe…” Elwin leaned down and wrapped his arms around the boy. “Keefe, I love you.”
A sobbing gasp came from the figure, and Keefe looked up, eyes red.
Elwin gently placed a hand under his chin. “I do, Keefe. I love you. And nothing will ever change that.”
Keefe stared at him for a moment, then laid his head on Elwin’s leg silently.
Elwin kissed his soft blond hair and began to stroke his hair again, anger bubbling in the back of his mind at what Gisela and Cassius had done to him.
His boy was broken, but he was his.
And he would never let them take him back.
