Pine Lake Farewell: Lee
Emily forced her foot in the door of show biz and was a highly successful commercial actor for a long time: toilet paper sales were never higher than when she was the face of three-ply comfort. Eventually she made it into her dream of movie acting, but never manged to land a major role. She did, however, fully live up the star actress lifestyle, with multiple affairs, luxury homes, and plastic surgeries. The expenses of this life came less from her actress salary than they did from her husband’s pizza money.
Tumblr media
Bernie perhaps could have been a bigger star than his wife once he started a cooking show and released a cookbook of secret pizza recipes. But he tried to support his daughter’s music by playing it on one of his shows and she promptly sued him for copyright infringement. He retired in shame, but his pizza restaurant chain continued to thrive and he later sold it for a small fortune.
Marzipan was shipped off to boarding school and hardly saw her parents growing up, which perhaps is how she turned out so well. She became a plant biologist and spends most of her time in her greenhouse, but does enjoy going out dancing on weekends.

If you can only use actors from the actual show (wether main cast or guest stars) who would you have to voice them?
Gonna avoid main cast so that they don't sound like any of the main characters, so then...hmmm....
Femur: Kevin Micheal Richardson
Javi: Sam Riegal
Kettle: Kari Wahlgren or Kristen Schaal or April Winchell
Lily Boonchuy: Edin Riegel
Sprout Plantar: Max Mittelman

The hardest part about rereading the trilogy was that I didn't enjoy Northen Lights as much because I wanted Will. He's such a fantastic character and his relationship with his mother is fascinating.
There's so many mentions of cats regarding Will and I love this because his dæmon settles as a cat. It's like he's connected to cats on a spiritual level (do you think we can use this to convince Taylor to read the books). One of my favorite moments is when he meets Lyra for the first time he describes that "he stayed calm and quiet as if she were a strange cat he was making friends with." His soul is a cat and the first thing he thinks about Lyra when he meets her is that she's like a cat.
And when the children in Cittagazze hurt the cat and Will immediately defends it and Lyra's convinced for a moment that that is his dæmon. And when Lyra wonders what his dæmon is and decides "whatever its form was, it would express a nature that was savage, and courteous, and unhappy."
One of my favorite characterization of his is his ability to be unnoticeable, which is almost like the magic Serafina can do. It's such a catlike ability! And it's such a heartbreaking little detail to add to a character that spent most of his life trying to avoid social service separating him from his mother.
There's a moment in the book when they realize the words anbar/amber and electric mean opposite things in the world and I always remembered this scene because 1. It's funny and 2. It's such a small worldbuilding detail and I love this shit. There's also a scene where Lyra finds the idea of wearing pants as a girl completely outrageous that's so funny.
I love how Pullman uses dæmons to describe intimacy like that moment when Will panics because he's the bearer of the knife and Pan puts his head on his lap to comfort him and it's such a crucial moment in the book because Pan wouldn't have done that to anyone else, but Lyra's own soul is desperate to comfort Will (much to her surprise).
"I think Lyra's braver than me. I think she's the best friend I ever had." I lose my mind every time I see a quote that immediately makes me think about that best friend line in You Are In Love.
There's a lot of Lee Scoresby in this book and his relationship with Lyra is so wholesome. It's kind of wicked of Pullman to have Lee say he considers Lyra his daughter and then kill him off. Just another parental figure who dies without Lyra ever knowing.
But at least all the scenes with Lee gave me some great quotes like "You are an enemt of the church, Lee Scoresby." (Icon) and "we're renegades. Not by our choice, but by their malice." and "shame to die with one bullet left, though."
And the funniest line I've ever read in a book:
"What do you mean, a palaeo-archeologist? Archeologists already study what's old; why do you beed to put another word meaning old in front of it?"
The book also presents Mary Malone and I don't have much to say about her but she is one of the best characters ever and I'm kind of obsessed with her discovering a means to communicate with angels and them just being like "you're a snake" (she would've loved reputation). But seriously I love how criticial of religion this book is that it presents the serpent as a positive influence. The serpent is a sweet and kind doctor who's willing to work hard to communicate with new civilization. She introduces Lyra and Will to love which is the purest thing in the world.
I LOVE THAT PART with the amber/anbar! and i love how pullman on occasion describes something without actually describing the thing. he does it here, where he says they look at each other with the same expression. but he doesn't describe the expression - because he knows the reader is also feeling what will and lyra are feeling so there's no need. the reader can fill in the blank. it's just so clever.
you know what part i love, speaking of mary? how she's telling will and lyra about the moment she felt desire - with the marzipan - and lyra describes feeling as if she's a house whose windows and doors have all been opened. like this knowledge just opens her and frees her! all from a story, the same way that the harpies will free the ghosts by telling them stories to lead them to mulefa/rejoin dust in the universe!
also i love how lyra and will are both so strong and good that as much as it hurt them not to be together they both knew they had to part. like they didn't entertain the alternatives for very long. they accepted their universes were more important than them being together and it was just another fact they had to accept. and after all the loss they'd both experienced, it made sense they accepted it so quickly/firmly.
also also, did you ever read those "extras"? they were like excerpts of handwritten letters and documents from the different characters. and something from mary suggested that will was living with her which i think is just really sweet because lyra had an entire world that knew what had happened but in will's world, only mary knew.

Cake and Fishes
I’m assured that my mother baked a cake from scratch for my fourth birthday. I don’t know that she did–my childhood memories already live behind pebbled glass, distorted and washed out the further back I go–but I’ve seen the photos of the three diamond-shaped desserts, frosted in bright pastels and decorated to look like kites out of a children’s book. I do remember the book that inspired my mother to do this, a glossy wirebound collection of cakes shaped for different occasions–a cap and tassel for a graduation, a sports car for a retirement, a decadent princess gown for a sweet sixteen. I used to stare at the picture of that last one and compare it to the comparatively blank kites I received, yearning for its bright pink buttercream frills and marzipan roses.
I don’t remember my mother baking these cakes, but I remember the cake mixes that lined our kitchen cabinets. My mother always bought Betty Crocker cake mix at every trip to Albertson’s, hunting for coupons administered by those plastic flashing dispensers that used to line grocery store shelves. Despite habitually buying them, I don’t recall them ever being used. My sister and I never came home from school to the sickly-sweet aroma of a cake in the oven nor can I recall any special occasion that merited opening one of these packages. None were ever delivered to neighbors or brought out for holidays. The cake mixes grew in number while collecting ever more dust and pantry months, unfulfilled promises hiding among the soup cans and thrift stoneware.
In the span of the 18 years I had with her, my mother went from holding down a job as an emergency room nurse and signing a mortgage on a new home in a thriving neighborhood to being catatonic and bedridden, wracked by trauma, addiction, debt, and fear. Following as it did a long series of emergency room trips, nervous breakdowns, public fits, and failed restarts, her death at 49 three months before my high school graduation felt inevitable. She was not narcissistic or violent. My mother wasn’t evil, but she was gripped by one. She had a love for my sister and I that she was both consumed by but often incapable of showing, a rain-soaked candle struggling to catch the flame.
She often compared her own mother to Joan Crawford in Mommy Dearest, holding her to impossible standards and enforcing a bootstrap mentality that ultimately left her addicted and broke. But I don’t see my mother in the loud narcissism of Faye Dunaway’s performance, that distorted make-up ridden terror left hollow by vanity and her own exploited past. Nor do I see my mother in Debra, the abusive stage mother detailed in Jennette McCurdy’s best-selling memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died. I once went to a support group for adult survivors of narcissistic parents–thinking at the least I could find camaraderie over trauma and neglect–but the scars of these sullen people in a shuttered library conference room didn’t match my own which came not from brutal lashings but frequent and unattended falls.
But watching the second season of The Bear, I was gripped by the darkest of nostalgias when the audience is introduced to Donna Berzatto. Masterfully portrayed by Jaime Lee Curtis, Donna is the bipolar matriarch of the family who’s restaurant is at the center of the show’s plot, long referenced as a source of turmoil and trauma but hidden under innuendo and polity. But as we see in the sixth episode of this new season, Donna is a capsule of rage and anguish, seemingly determined to make everyone as afraid of her as she is of everyone. Her family, wrecked by their own insecurities, treat her like a cartoon vial of nitroglycerin, a fragile explosive throwing pots in the kitchen and raging against a dying light she herself is throttling.
As Donna works on a seven-fishes Christmas Eve dinner, her oldest daughter Natalie struggles to prevent the smallest of imperfections or falled expectations send her wine-filled mother into a tearful despair, her foundation and eyeliner serving as the mask that eats her face. Donna looms over Natalie when she stoops to clean up spilled tomato sauce, vowing to bring her own death into the kitchen light as her daughter’s face is engulfed in Elektral horror.
When dinner is served, the Berzatto family sets aside their own conflicts in fear of igniting Donna. Nonetheless, she unleashes on them, blames them for carving out the empty space she has inside of her, now filled with malbec and sorrow. She flees the dining room as the container of emotions spills over, a physical brawl unfolding beneath the tinsel and poinsettias until Donna crashes her sedan through the front door of the house and laughs like nothing ever could or ever has truly mattered.
My mother never crashed a car into the house. She never, as Donna does to Natalie, gripped my jaw while threatening to unload my father’s pistol into her skull. But the peaks of Donna’s anger are not what I found so familiar. What struck me as such a surreal reflection of my own experience is Donna’s muffled, floundering love.
Donna is trying. Her children seem to know this, constantly offering help as they can even as other relatives give in to snide derision and offhand insults made quietly in the next room. But Natalie in particular sees her mother’s love fighting to be free of the chains that lash, strike, and strangle. Whether this is a fool’s errand is not the point–Natalie seeks it as surely as a body seeks water, as defiantly as a dandelion finds life in the barren cracks of shattered concrete.
In the season’s final episode, the restaurant at the show’s center opens for a single night to host their friends and family while testing the fitness of the servers, chefs, food, and equipment. The culmination of dreams and effort, Natalie invites Donna to attend and celebrate this new mark of her children’s accomplishment.
Natalie’s husband, however, spots her outside the restaurant, chainsmoking and watching from afar. When he approaches her and urges her to come inside, she’s terrified to enter, urges him not to reveal her presence. "I don't deserve to see how good this is," Donna says. "I don’t want to hurt it." When he reveals that Natalie is pregnant, that Donna is going to be a grandmother, the hurt breaks through the foundation of her skin, a shattered mark of how far her children needed to keep her to grow. Donna’s struggling love for her children is dimmed by incapacity, not ill-will. It’s a love that lives under a fearful shadow, translucent and fragile in the darkened depths of her heart. It’s a desire to create that love in bright and cliched tones, the performance of motherhood made all the more daunting for those who never quite perfected the role of human.
On my eighteenth birthday, an aunt and uncle invited me to a chain restaurant dinner with my sister. I had assumed my mother would be there, having been the seventeen previous birthdays. When I was informed she hadn’t been invited, I knew why–I had heard the wary tone others spoke of my mother, the disregard for the love I saw in her struggling to break out. But like Natalie, I wanted her there–to hear me talk about colleges, about dreams, about the future I could build where everything goes right. When the staff at this corny, cheesy restaurant surrounded me, robotically singing some copyright-free birthday chant while wielding a slice of box cake, I gave a plastic smile before going to bathroom and weeping over the tiles.
It is not true that intent doesn’t matter. Impact of course matters even more, but willfulness is of grave importance when assessing an individual’s moral worth. The moments my mother was capable of showing love were not an accident or a mistake. They were the rare moment of intention among a tragic lifelong submission to illness, violence, and addiction inherited from her own family or dropped on her by my father, poverty, and a world that thrives on the shame of mothers.
When my mother slipped into the mysterious comas that left her bedridden across much of my early life, my sister and I would scrounge through the kitchen shelves for anything approaching edible–peanut butter eaten right from the jar, instant ramen packs we smashed and ate dry, cereal we poured over baking sheets to first root out the roaches. At our most desperate, we’d tear open the boxes of cake mix, licking the silky powder off our fingers and mixing it with milk and living off the clumpy syrup it made, saccharine and sweet yet curdled and sour.

I did this image a long while ago and it was based on a character template character that had different expressions for each character. I'm unsure on who created the template nor know the real name of it since the image on where I found this from was a Pinterest image.
With that in mind, I have the habit of hopping into a lot of shows and wanting to draw the various of characters I have seen and was in the mood to draw for in this chart.

*Slaps roof of Rock Lee* This bad boy can fit so much fucking determination in him
The Inktober day 7 prompt was "Exhausted", which really fit me today. I 100% had to draw my boi Rock Lee on his last legs after fighting Gaara

And finally, a handful of outtakes.
Tumblr media
I like the kissing cowplant picture I posted of Marzipan much better than this first take, but at least here you can see her face.
Tumblr media
Armand has apparently been spending too much time away from the big city investigating hick towns...
Tumblr media
This was the very first picture I took for this wrap-up project, back when I planned to make things quick and simple. But then all the other pictures were much better and I felt bad for not giving Stella a real picture, so I took some nicer shots of the Swains. But I still like the father-daughter gardening, which is totally what these two would do all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Freyja and Jonah seem like the type not to have kids, but seeing as I was breeding a nation for Thor anyway, I went ahead and let those two have one just to see what could happen. Miracle of miracles...Jonah's child has a chin!
Tumblr media
And Frank will close us off. He absolutely is a professional ballet dancer and loves it, but he also practises modern moves in his club. (Thanks to Jonah for filling in as DJ!)

Get Hitched | Lee Donghyuck (Haechan)
Pairing: Lee Donghyuck (Haechan) x Reader
Summary: You ask your ex Haechan to help you buy a wedding cake. It won't be awkward... right?
Genre: Ex-fiancee!Haechan, Fluff
Word Count: 1.6k
Gif: @baekonbaek
Tumblr media
It was 6pm, and you and Haechan were the last ones left in the high school staff room.
“Hey, Haechan?” You slung on your sidebag.
“Y/n?” Your fellow English teacher and closest friend flashed you a dazzling smile. His long, chocolate lashes brushed against his circle glasses.
Your throat went tight. After everything you’d done to him, Haechan still had a smile for you.
“So, imagine that you were in charge of choosing your friend’s wedding cake. Only… you knew nothing about baking.” You put on your cutest puppy-eyes.
Haechan’s smirked. “This is all hypothetical, of course.”
“Right! Hypothetically… the wedding was in three days, and all these words were being thrown around like ‘ganache’ and ‘marzipan’ and you were kinda freaking out! And… I hope you know this is not hypothetical by now!”
You had to steady yourself on a locker.
Haechan crossed his arms, pouting. “First, breathe – you’re not breathing,” he ordered.
You reminded yourself to suck in air.
“Then, hypothetically, I would be happy to come and pick a cake for you,” Haechan allowed.
“Yes!” Unthinkingly, you jumped up, and hugged Haechan tight. His body was solid and comforting under your grasp. You realised you were inhaling the scent of his woollen jumper – and quickly flinched back.
“Sorry, – uh – I wasn’t thinking,” you apologised, eyes looking anywhere but at him.
Haechan placed his hands firmly on your arms, and looked you in the eye. “Y/n, it’s fine. You don’t have to protect me. I’m over it.” His caramel voice was steady, but you felt his fingers trembling.
Your eyes were wide. “Yes, me too. What happened between us is like, ancient history.”
But then, your eyes flickered over to the place in the hallway that had haunted you for three months. Just there, in front of your English classroom, you broke a heart.
That was where Haechan had proposed.
You saw him kneeling there clear as day, eyes shining, not caring that half the school was watching him.
You knew you should’ve just smiled, or said ‘maybe’, but you were too scared. Scared of tying your whole life down to one man when you couldn’t even pick a breakfast cereal.
When your boyfriend Haechan pulled off his glasses and asked, triumphantly, “Will you marry me?”, all you could say was, “I’m sorry.”
The students’ low, shameful ‘ooh’ echoed in your ears till you wanted to cry.
“Y/n! You okay?” Haechan was staring at you, hard. You hadn’t realised that you’d zoned out.
“Yeah, sorry. It’s totally normal for two colleagues to help each other out, right? At the weekend?”
“Yes, exactly, Y/n! It is.”
----
Three days later you were in Haechan’s car, singing along to Mariah Carey on your way to the bakery.
“I owe you for this like, forever, Haechan. Anyway, it should be simple. In and out.” You grinned.
You were struggling to distract yourself from how at home you felt in Haechan’s car. Of course, this was the place you’d lost your virginity. Even the smell of his pine air freshener made your heart flutter.
As you entered ‘MAMA’S EATS RESTO-BAKERY’, you were just glad you’d have something to distract you from the warm feeling you still got when Haechan looked at you.
The woman behind the counter gave you a warm smile. All around you, people were chewing on cakes on café-style tables.
“Hi,” you began. “We’re here for a wedding cake tasting?”
That was when you realised you had no hope of forgetting the past. No hope at all.
Because, suddenly, everyone around you began applauding. Dozens of smiling faces shone on your mortified ones.
The counter girl stood up. “Congratulations! Can I get a cheer for the happy couple?” The café erupted with whoops.
You glanced at Haechan, and mouthed, I’m sorry.
“No, um, you’ve got this wrong. W-we’re not getting married,” you insisted. Your cheeks were burning.
The woman paused, a fistful of heart-shaped confetti frozen in her hand. “So you’re not here for a wedding cake?”
“No, I mean, yes, we are, it’s just we’re” – you pointed to Haechan – “not the ones getting married.” Your heart raced like thunder in your ears.
“Look, if it’s not a wedding, you don’t get fifty percent off.”
Just then, a woman wearing a ‘manager’ badge pushed towards you. “I’m sorry for the disturbance, guys. Are you getting married, or not?”
Just as you prepared to release a stream of complaints, you felt a hand slide around your waist.
Your mouth popped open.
It was Haechan’s. And he was suddenly talking. “I’m afraid this employee has been harassing my fiancée and me. We’re here to choose our wedding cake… I believe this comes with a discount?”
Haechan was wearing the perfect expression; his silky eyebrows pulled together as if to say: kids these days. You couldn’t believe your eyes. You couldn’t focus on anything except his warm hand squeezing your waist.
“Of course. Follow me, lovebirds!” The manager gestured for you to go into a separate room attached to the store.
Just before you entered, Haechan grabbed your hand. Your heart froze.
“Here.” Haechan slipped off one of his rings, and slid it on your fourth finger. “We need to look the part.”
When you stared back at him, you were chewing your lip. “You don’t have to do this, Haechan.”
“Look. You want the discount. Isn’t this what friends do?”
You frowned “R…ight. Friends.”
Once Haechan had chosen a cake – coffee and something – you were ready to just run out of the place.
But, of course, the helpful staff were not willing to allow that.
“As part of our special wedding package, you can take a photo with our Instagram wall! Share and hashtag, please!”
When you saw the wall in question, your mouth fell open. It was crammed with photos of couples… kissing on the mouth. Every single one of them. You scoffed, but you pulse was faster than ever.
“We’d love a photo!” Haechan gave them that mind-blowing smirk, handing over his iPhone. “Would you take it for us?”
You shook your head furiously, but Haechan tugged you over. “We’re nearly out,” he whispered in your ear. A shiver ran down your spine.
“Okay, pose!” The manager looked way too enthusiastic about this photoshoot.
Cautiously, you wrapped your hand around Haechan’s shoulder and put on a grimace.
Photo taken, you rushed to the exit.
You were so nearly out… when the manager shouted, “You can do better than that! What about a kiss?”
Every eye on the café was suddenly focused on you. Cheers and whistles swelled through the room. You thought you might faint. “No, I think we’re fine with the last one…” you protested.
However, the unstoppable manager just shook her head. “Don’t be shy! We love couples here at Mama’s Eats.”
Then, one woman in the café’s corner began to chant, “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
Quickly, the chant caught on, spreading through the crowd till the bakery’s tiny walls were ringing. You felt like throwing up. Or fainting. Or both.
The manager pulled the camera to her eyes once more. Lacking any alternative, you leaned forward and pecked Haechan on the cheek. Your lips stung at the contact with his soft skin.
You should have stopped there. Then, you might’ve had a chance of continuing being friends with Haechan, of forgetting the past.
But you didn’t.
Because suddenly, you felt a rush of blood to your face, making you dizzy.
Almost by accident, you fell forward once more, and your lips pressed onto Haechan’s. At first, he was frozen, then, for an electrifying second, you were kissing.
Your lips moulded back around Haechan’s effortlessly.
You didn’t just kiss him - you breathed him in like he was air and you’d been drowning for three months. And Haechan was no less guilty – his hand was sliding up your arm all the time, fingers clinging to the skin he hadn’t touched in so long.
The click of the camera made you spring back. You couldn’t believe only a second had passed – it had felt like hours to you.
You half-ran out of the bakery, eyes fixed firmly on your shoes.
Soon, you wished you hadn’t rushed back to his car. It was way too silent in there.
“Coffee cake, huh? Good choice,” you mumbled.
As he pulled out of the bakery’s car park, Haechan was quiet.
Then, he blurted out, “I can’t… play it cool.”
Your stomach flipped.
Haechan’s voice quivered. “We have to talk about the kiss.”
“You’re right,” you admitted. You steeled yourself. If you didn’t admit your feelings now, you never would.
Your words were measured. “I don’t know about you, Haechan… but I don’t regret the kiss.”
You bit your lip. “I miss you, Haechan. Like, all the time. I-I’ve tried to move on, but I can’t help comparing everyone to you!” You half-smile. “And no one measures up.”
You saw Haechan’s knuckles shaking on the steering wheel. “You were the one who said you weren’t ready for commitment… that we were better off as friends. You asked for space, and I have been… killing myself giving it to you.”
You played with his ring, sliding it up and down your finger. “I know – and I’m grateful. I’m sorry I hurt you, Haechan, I really am.” You took a deep breath. “But sometimes… someone matters enough to you to take a chance. Will you… give me a second chance?”
For a long moment, Haechan didn’t reply. Your heart fell to your shoes.
As the tears rose up your throat, you listened to Haechan’s breathing relax.
But then, you felt his hand slip off the steering wheel and hesitantly thread with yours.
It wasn’t a promise. But it was a start.

what do you think about these pictures? maybe not quite as skinny anymore... 👀
ahhh well you're in luck anon because I was just talking with @wotvagyok about that and I typed up a whole wall of text about a fun feedism vacation :D
honestly I'm just happy we're getting happy Seb pictures, but also I'd be very happy if he maybe over-compensated a bit after losing weight for the Tommy Lee role.. maybe going way overboard at the hotel buffet and then still go out to dinner with his girlfriend after.....
and the next morning he gets up at 6 am to head to breakfast... and then he wakes up with his girlfriend again at 9 am to eat breakfast
then brunch with friends, maybe mimosas or cocktails because they're celebrating?
ahh just happy vacation Seb /way/ over-indulging, he packs on all the weight he's lost for the Tommy Lee role within two weeks
they have tapas for brunch, sooo many small dishes Seb just can't keep track of how many he finishes, but when he looks down his belly sticks out and grumbles angrily, so he rubs his knuckles into the sides to ease some of the cramps, good thing his cocktail is still half-full, the alcohol should help make him more relaxed
after brunch they just spend two hours lazing around lying on those lounge chairs by the beach, maybe Seb reads a bit, maybe he's a bit too tipsy to really concentrates and mostly just rubs his little distented belly
at 2 pm he gets a text from Ale asking if he wants to get lunch soon because she's starting to feel hungry, it's been five hours for her since she's last eaten, it's barely been two for Seb, well, he's been snacking on some bar peanuts, but those don't really count, right?
he goes out to lunch with his girlfriend, she orders a salad, he orders two appetizers, insists he isn't that hungry, but when he's finished with the pimientos de padrón drenched in oil and the plate of bruschetta with fresh olive oil, he actually wishes he'd gotten a main course too, but then the waiter offers them the dessert menu and Seb orders a portion of flan and some churros too
he thinks he'll probably have to share with Ale, but she just eats one spoonful of the flan, at this point Seb is back to feeling as overstuffed and crampy as he did after brunch, but a few more hours in the sun should ease the cramping and ache in his stomach
the food is well worth that bit of pain
and the bit of weight gain too, he mostly wears his slightly too big board shorts, low on his hips so they don't restrict his belly at all when it's bloated and stuffed
so he doesn't even notice how much weight he packs on in just two weeks of vacation, he thinks he's just bloated from being full all the time
he doesn't actually have any meals during the afternoon, but the lounge chairs he chose for Ale and him to relax on, are right next to the pool bar, so he keeps up a steady stream of sugary, sweet cocktails and the little bowl of nut mix and chips is refilled too many times for him to count
Ale goes swimming while Seb just lies back and enjoys the continued buzz he has going on and the sun warming his belly and keeping it content and relaxed, so it doesn't cramp up at all the drinks and snacks he's consuming
man, I have so many thots about Seb on vacation after seeing those pictures.....
He planned on going to dinner with Ale, but a director he worked with a few years ago heard that they were in the same country, so he wants to meet up for an early meal, avoid the dinner rush
Seb heads out to meet that director, he doesn't tell Ale it's a dinner meeting, probably forgets about it because he's still feeling tipsy
at the dinner he orders the paella he had his eyes on over lunch and it's as good as he thought it would taste, the director is surprised when Seb doesn't order dessert as well, he's well known for his sweet tooth on set, carrying around granola, protein bars and nut butter to satisfy his sweet cravings when he has to stay in shape,
but he should indulge on vacation, right?
so of course when the director lays it out like that Seb orders some ponche segoviano, the slice is way bigger than he anticipated, but the rich and sweet marzipan keeps him digging his spoon into the cake until there is nothing left
when Ale wants to get dinner later that night he orders the same thing, his memory a bit fuzzy after sharing two bottles of wine between with the director after already being tipsy from the afternoon cocktails and brunch mimosas
he cradles his belly the entire way back to their hotel room, presses his knuckles into his sides, tries to force the food down from where it's pushing up against his lungs
he crawls into bed right away and half-watches a movie while his girlfriend falls asleep next to him
but before he does the same, he slips out from under the covers and gets one of the twix bars in the room's mini fridge, just a little something sweet to help him go to sleep
ein Betthupferl (for the Germans following me :D)
and tomorrow that whole routine starts over again
that sounds like a fun vacation, no? :)
