"Yona was just added bc Nintendo wants people to stop shipping sidlink!" Literally what the hell are you talking about
#yes nintendo is homophobic. no they do not give a singular shit about what their fanbase does??? what are you talking abouuuutttt#they literally dont care what people do as long as they get money??? like what#listen im upset abt yona having so many unanswered questions. mainly she came from another zora's domain#meaning she came from outside of hyrule. so that leads to a lot of questions.#but howww do you come to the conclusion that she was just added as a 'no homo' indicator#dont even get me started on the people genuinely unironically calling this queerbaiting. what are you onnnnnnn#'and oh but sidon said he used to see her as a sister! so its gross and wrong!' sidon literally thought out loud to links face abt how#had things been different and link had gotten married to mipha he would be his BROTHER IN LAW. SAID THAT OUT LOUD TO HIS FACE. so shh#imo. yona was added for one 'ohh wow exciting new character look at this' and two. as a way for sidon's trauma to be acknowledged#bc it was veeery briefely shown in botw. for like. a singular second if you snuck up on him at mipha's statue#but yona's defining scene in totk was her forcing sidon to confront that he wasn't being himself because of that trauma. and that#he needed to let go of the fear around it. if only temporary. because his people needed him.#so tbh?? sheis very important to the plot. she new mipha. admired her. knows why sidon still struggles with this and#how difficult and frightening everything becomes when he views the world through the lens of 'what if i lose someone again'#like. they added yona for his struggles to be spelled out to the audience even further#so to just boil her down to 'ewww woman gets in the way of my gaybies 😡😡😡'. hello. did you play the game.#do you even know who these characters are. quick gimme ten facts about sidons character that you didnt make up for shipping purposes.pronto

It’s been brought up to me that a lot of my content is Isekai based. However I didn’t want this to be a Ieskai HC post. Instead let me tell you all about a stupid thing I came up with as a kid that I’ve been meaning to make into a fic for so long.:
What if the characters you play actually can feel your presence and/or can hear your commentary when playing?
Fair warning I never play Hyrule Warriors and Twilight Princess so let me know if I got things wrong.
Head canons under cut!
General head canons (These are all platonic headcanons btw.):
- Let’s say that the simple reason that you are here was to help the chain. Think of it like you’re the groups companion on this journey. Who better then someone that knows about each hyrule?
- The people who dealt with a lot of magic recognize you at first. The others need a bit of a push to connect the dots but everyone gets there.
- The connection wasn’t as strong at times during their original adventures, so its not like they could always hear you or sense you.
Time:
- You saw him and it was clear he has another sibling now.
- Time knew you where telling the true, that you followed both of his adventures however he wasn’t going to be fully open to you.
- Guess who isn’t scared of Time? You.
- Literally at one point you’ve pointed at Time and with a straight face says “thats a child”.
- This is also how the chain found out that Time actually fought the moon technically.
- “You fought Majora on the moon while it was falling. That’s not the same thing.”
- You meet Malon and it was an awkward first meeting since how do you explain this in the first place.
- Yet the two of you got along amazingly.
- When you and time are alone you instantly ask Time if he knew how she got the cow in his house. He kinda just… stares at you? Like you just met his wife and thats what your asking about?!
- The answer was that he wasn’t sure how she did that but the cow isn’t in his old house anymore. Since different timelines and all.
- It’s honestly weird for him to have someone remember both of his adventures in confidence.
- All be a little awkward hearing someone go, “oh yeah! Time had to do something similar.”
- Early on Time did go over boundaries since he really doesn’t like to talk about his adventures to much.
- So instead you both agree to be as cryptic as possible or at least there is an attempt on your part. Since your the only other person that can confirm or deny his claims.
- And no. You also don’t know his true age. But your guess is the closest.
Twilight:
- Since he is one of the Link’s that is drenched in magic, he recognizes your aura instantly.
- Chaotic sibling energy.
- If he is giving Wild or any of the other Link’s a hard time you are by his side calling Twilight out. Unless if the person in question did something truly idiotic then you let him go off.
- Speaking of, you call this man out as much as you possibly can. Like hell if you’re going to let the others think he isn’t a gremlin.
- He did try to stop you by covering your mouth but you licked his hand. So…. guess what he isn’t trying again unless it’s necessary.
- Somethings are kept a secret though. Since he did live through it and even if it was stupid he still could of gotten really hurt.
- You both play good cop, bad cop to the younger Links all the time.
- Twi is surprisingly very open with you about his adventure, to finally talk to someone about it with out having it sound crazy is nice.
- He also has some questions about you and your life. Since before this adventure started you just disappeared.
- The two of you honestly get along like two best friends who haven’t seen each other in years but still can banter like its the good old days.
- Knowing only small amounts about what they all been through it’s nice to know that you’re looking after the others as well.
- That feeling makes him really push himself to protect the family he has here and luckily you are here can smack him upside the head before lecturing him.
Warriors:
- heeeeey… you know what happen the last time he met someone that was suppose to be watching over the hero’s spirit?
- Yeah, so….War’s isn’t so keen on trusting you like some of these Heroes.
- You seem nice and not obsessively crazy. If anything what makes him decide to give you a chance. It’s seeing you get along with the other Heroes post battle or around the campfire when you think no one is watching.
- The moment that he recognizes you. You were cursing out some monsters and calling Dink every name under the sun. Which he actually remembers hearing your panicked voice briefly when fighting Cia.
- Anyway, you guys are a sass duo and even a trio when you get Leg involved.
- You steal his scarf sometimes with Time and Wind’s help
- He finds you and Wind wrapped inside of it leaning on time and his heart just- clenches, he has more siblings now!
- Then Warriors realizes he has another sibling… another sibling that will prank him…
- You two can be found discussing tactical strategies. Mostly him teaching you though since depending on the person not many people will know how to lead an army. Yet he is a good teacher and you catch on pretty quickly.
- Same with Twi, Warrior’s needs someone to pull him back sometimes it seems. Who better then to remind him then the person that already saw his lowest moment when his ego got the better of him?
- Seriously speaking. He wouldn’t come to you to talk. If anything he will try to avoid you if he wasn’t his best. In his head he has a reputation to uphold. Which will lead to a heart to heart. No sass. No banter. Just you and him sitting down to remind him that he is human.
- He needs a hug. Please give him a hug.
Sky:
- Sky actually didn’t recognize you at first!
- Yes he felt your presence and hear your voice in his adventure, but that was a while ago at this point. Also he isn’t as connected to magic as the others are.
- He does slowly befriend you despite everything.
- It wasn’t until you referred to a certain demon lord as a ‘B*tch A** Clown’ and a flood gate of memories open up for him. Memories of you cursing out Ghirahim, calling the imprisoned an ‘avocado with feet’ and so on.
- Nothing really changes between you two honestly, he just accepts it.
- If anything he becomes more open to you about everything, setting clear boundaries on what he doesn’t want to bring up. He will tell everyone about the curse eventually, but just hasn’t found a good opportunity too. Things like that.
- You do have to argue with Sky that the curse wasn’t his fault since you were also there when it was put on him, also the fact that he didn’t asked to be cursed in the first place.
- Most of the time you two are together its to get away from the chaos that the group of nine heroes could bring.
- Walking or sitting in silence is how you two end up most of the time together. It may not look like you two are bonding. There are some days while Sky is wood carving you would work on your small hobby as well. Then there are days he plays the harp and your reading.
- Despite it all he really enjoys the peace you bring. There is a sense of comfort that you have.
- When you and Sun finally meet. The first thing you ask him is to be invited to the wedding and it may or may not been in front of her too…
Wild:
- The recognition was really slow for him like Sky. Since Wild just got off of his first adventure he didn’t actually notice you were gone.
- It was until he realized that he couldn’t hear your panicked voice or snarky remarks when fighting in his head. That he finally realized you where outside of his head. He was quick to connects the dots after that.
- There was a moment where he didn’t know how to react since he just figured that you were just from his imagination.
- He now has another adventuring buddy with Hyurle! Though luckily you do keep the both of them from harm. Mostly because if something happens to them you will get in trouble with like Twi and Leg and thats never fun.
- Though you have your moments. Shield surfing and paragliding are on top of that list and Wild is all up for teaching you the ropes.
- The topic of the history of hyrule gets brought up a lot with the two of you. Since his era has a lot of connections to the past era’s. He is all up for learning about what came from where. Soon theories start to fly about.
- When You, Him and Flora are finally all together. There is nothing stopping you all from bouncing off theories. With your outside knowledge mixing with what they know. Things start to fall into place.
- The answer to why the timeline is like this doesn’t get answer. But hey! At least you all are having fun!
- If you can’t cook he will teach you that too! If you can! Well buckle up your going to share your knowledge with him whether you want to or not.
- Once you know how or get used to cooking while camping, you help him out a lot and its these moments where you both talk the most.
- It’s comforting to him to know he wasn’t alone this whole time.
Legend:
- As soon as you two locked eyes he felt instant dread. Yes he knew. No he isn’t going to opening up to you.
- Playful Insults to bond? Yeah that’s literally how he talks to everyone so no special treatment.
- He keeps you at a distance but its not actually working.
- You talk about his adventures so casually like it happened a few days ago. You avoid Link’s Awakening though. If you got hurt with the plot twist then you could only imagine the pain Leg went through.
- “I’m still trying to process the fact you married a tree.” “Hey remember that one time with Yuga, you slammed face first into a wall so hard you knocked yourself out?” “God do you not wear pants because of the fish thing?”
- This relationship is literally: Only I can bully this one.
- He fears the moment you meet Ravio and Fable knowing full well you all will bond over teasing him.
- Overall though he knows you got his back no matter what, to the point he finds himself confining in you slowly.
- Guess who is also teaming up with Hyrule to get Legend to sleep. It you.
- Once you probably have forced him to sleep by getting wolfie to lay on him. It was the wolf or yourself. In the end it was both of you and he was trapped.
- A sign that he was becoming soft towards you was when he started sharing his items with you. He trusts that you know how to use them and if you don’t he is actually willing to show you.
- He regrets giving the bee badge to you.
Hyrule:
- Another person that is drenched in magic. It only took one look at you for him to realize who you were.
- The two of you were awkward as anything at first. Since to you he never really spoken in his adventure so you didn’t know how to picture his personality.
- There’s a lot of mystery in your mind about him since again there isn’t much to go off of with what your given in game. It’s weird for him to hear about how you interpret his personality from that perspective.
- Hyrule didn’t honestly expect you to try and befriend him tbh. It mostly him over thinking it.
- You do follow him sometimes when he wants to wander around and explore. Mostly because you claim he finds the coolest things when he does.
- But its just a excuse to actually get to know him.
- The two of you trade stories and questions about each of your lives. There might be things you know that he might not know of about his adventure and his hyrule.
- Of course never going into to much details since there are things you couldn’t tell him.
- Hyrule honestly was dreading the day you all would land in his Era. He loves his home but is also very aware of it not being the most…welcoming place.
- So it’s more then surprising to him that there is even more then the glint of familiarity and excitement on your face. Knowing full well what dangers where a head of you, you still were open to exploring his world to the fullest.
- It’s honestly refreshing to see someone love his era as much as he does.
- Another boy that needs hugs, please give him a hug.
- You both cheer each other on though.
- This relationship is just aggressive support between you two and the others.
Four: (I’m actively mixing the Four Sword game and manga just to be clear.)
- Not sure if he would know exactly who you where since during the second adventure your voice and presence bounce between the four of them.
- Yet I also feel like he took after you because he was a child in his first adventure, which worries you a lot. Since you did have choice words for Vaati.
- The first to realize was Vio then it went Blue, Red and Green. Despite being in the same head it was just a theory they had over all. They all had their own ways of confirming it.
- Vio noticed the small things you do around Four. Like not stepping on their shadow, and covering Four when things got chaotic in their head. Small references here and there. When the two of you are alone he almost quizzes you about things. Just to see how much you know and to see if your telling the true or not.
- Blue recognize your mannerisms being something he picked up on during the first and second adventure. Only vaguely since again he was a child / there was only a small part only with him. Your fighting banter when your in battle made you see where Blue got his colorful language from…
- Your comfort was what clued Red in. He remembers your presence more clearly then the others from the first and second adventure. It was a comforting (yet chaotic) presence in their adventures that he latched on to. More so from his first adventure since as a kid he made an imaginary friend to process the fact he could sense and hear your presence. When you came back in the second time around it felt so natural for Red to have you there and really helped make him go forward through his small journey.
- For Green? It was a lot of things but when he see’s you treating each color differently when they are in charged. It’s a refreshing sight to be honest. He just enjoys hearing and seeing that his brothers had someone to confide in. Even when they switch who is in control you some how could tell and spoke to them accordingly.
- They were all some what surprise that none of the others picked up on your treatment of him swapping so much. Yet their also glad because their not ready to reveal themselves quiet yet.
- As Four or as you nicknamed him ‘Rainbow’ the two of you tend to sick together when the world’s shift around. Since his body needs more time to recover.
- You two are another pair that cheers each other on when the moral is low.
- He introduces you to the Minish! Getting you a jabber nut so you can speak to them too. You can’t shrink down to properly talk to them so this was the next best thing.
- The four of them makes you a dagger to bring home to remember him by, there’s a kin stone imbedded where the blade meets the hilt.
Wind: (hello self projection my dear friend)
- Wind didn’t recognize you ether at first, yet he didn’t even blink when you join everyone. He was fully on board with getting a new member and is easiest the most opened.
- It was when you two are alone together that something clicked in his head. You see during the Wind Waker he was alone most of the time when he was on land. So he had to face a lot by himself.
- Having you was reassuring to him when facing some of the monsters alone, especially with the puppet ganon fight. The two of you both agree that it was creepy.
- CHAOTIC SIBLINGS PART 2… well kinda
- Wind is a lot more mature then you realized but you two still have those moments.
- You, Aryll and Grandma get along too! So he and his family basically sees you and the chain as family.
- Pranking buddies! You’re targets would never know. Mostly because your covering up for him. You two team up with Four and Wild so the pranks can get chaotic at times.
- No matter what age you are compare to him and if your ok with it he does like platonic physical affection. Your going to be trading off with Warriors a lot of the time for cuddles or it’s the three of you together.
- You teaching him our worlds sea shanties and him teaching you his? Heck yeah! Even making up songs with the others is something on the table and in the works which is nice.
- It’s another thing to bring back home thats personalized!
Honestly since I’ve written all of this down I want to write the fic more. Though I’ll probably not only because idk if people would even read it lol. So it will just be a bunch of head canons. Anyway rambling is done.

I have a lot of thoughts on how Age of Calamity could have worked better for me, but one thought I’ve had since the Demo that only got stronger after completing the game is the idea of putting Impa in Terrako’s role, because I’m just not fond of a robot changing everything instead of a character we know and love.
The game still opens with the original timeline calamity, but after the first shots of the castle the focus moves to Blatchery Plain, where the final battle is taking place. Impa watches from near Kakariko Village, where she and other Sheikah, are stationed to defend their home. She wants to run and help her princess, but is held back. You know this is how it was foretold, you know this is how it has to be, someone, possibly Purah, reminds her. (You cannot take the idea that the Sheikah as a whole had some knowledge that the events of BotW would happen in order for Ganon to be defeated from me). And so she waits, until Zelda’s powers awaken, until Link is taken to the shrine of resurrection and her princess approaches her to ask her to guide him when he wakes, her princess, who has lost so much, tells her that she is going to fight Ganon alone for as long as it takes. And as Zelda walks away, Impa breaks, she can’t let her suffer like this, she opens a time portal and jumps to before it all unravelled.
The first battle of Hyrule Field happens largely the same as in game, except everyone is surprised to see Impa there, rather than at the research lab or in Kakariko. No one more so than Zelda, who comments that it has been years since Impa has visited her. For a split second it’s clear how deeply sad about it they both are, but Impa quickly fakes a smile and says she’s missed her and it seemed like a great time for a visit. Later the King seems mighty unhappy about it, but reluctantly agrees to Zelda’s request to have Impa accompany her to approach the Champions. (Maybe Link doesn’t even get to go with her yet, and there are some parallel missions about him proving himself, and/or he happens to already be there for one or two of the battles, it’s easy to put him in Zora’s Domain with Mipha, but it also makes more sense to leave him out of the Gerudo Town mission).
At the end of the chapter, it’s revealed that the Yiga Clan and Astor have taken the opportunity to capture the original Impa from this timeline, having noticed the time travel using their own ancient technology and figuring out that the presence of the other Impa means no one will notice if the original is missing. Kohga interrogates her for information, but Astor states there may be a better use for her, and then the scene cuts to black.
That’s all we see of that Impa for a while, the story progresses much the same as it did originally (maybe with a little more adherence to BotW canon and some more character stuff, but that’s not my point here), with Impa inserting herself into every situation she can and trying to steer events away from the original timeline. Unfortunately, part of that is encouraging everyone to drop their use of Sheikah technology, which eventually leads to a fight with Zelda because You sound just like father! Is this why you came back? Just to be his puppet? And she says she doesn’t want Impa coming around her anymore, and she’ll be going to the Spring of Wisdom the next day without her. Impa panics but cannot change her mind, and when she tries to run after her Link blocks her way.
The next cutscene is at night in Zelda’s bedroom, where she tosses and turns unable to sleep. She then hears a noise outside, which turns out to be Impa, sneaking in through her window. She apologises, and says she was wrong, and claims Purah and Robbie have made a discovery that could change everything, Zelda should come see it now before her father can stop them. Zelda agress, relieved to have something other than the pressure of the coming day to focus on and follows behind Impa as she leads her out. Unseen by Zelda, Impa’s eyes flash with Malice-- she is this timeline’s Impa, controlled by Astor.
The next day, Zelda is nowhere to be found. The king is barely keeping composure, Link is being kind of a dumbass in where he looks for her for a little levity (is she behind this curtain? Is she under this table?), the champions, who have come to escort her too, are very uneasy and Impa is all but having a breakdown because she feels this is definitely her fault, and this is when it comes out that she time traveled from the future and the Calamity is going to erupt that very day. Then the search for Zelda gets really frantic, and eventually someone raises the question of wait, if you’re from the future, where’s the Impa that was originally here? They put together that the two disappearances are likely related and decide that the likely most fruitful course of action is to raid the Yiga hideout.
And so they go, and of course it’s a trap, the Calamity erupts while they are all occupied fighting Yiga lackeys (Kohga, Sooga, and Astor are conspicuously absent). Impa urges the Champions not to go to the Divine Beasts, but then the other Impa starts insisting that one is an imposter, that one tricked her and Zelda into being captured, and the Champions begin to falter. Why had she come from the future and only said so now? Was that some tall tale spun to keep them there while Hyrule fell? Why should they abandon the only hope of Hyrule winning this war? They are all in agreement, Link grabs a hold of Zelda and they depart, he and Zelda for the castle, the Champions to their Beasts, all the while Impa yells after them that they can’t win.
And then, once they’re gone, the other Impa begins to fight, Malice coursing through her, strengthened by the Calamity. It’s a playable up to a point, when Impa begs her to remember Zelda, to remember the point of everything, and there’s a quick set of flashbacks to them playing together as children, Impa defending Zelda from Bokoblins, them tinkering with Sheikah tech as young teens, and then just a series of quick flashes of Zelda’s face. The Malice disperses, the timeline’s original Impa quakes in fear of what she might have done, but resolves to change the outcome of the Calamity. Impa says they may not be able to do it alone, and they nod resolutely before the scene cuts.
The new Champions are brought from the future, much the same as before (but they’re enough to defeat the blights on their own without another character). The Impas rush to the castle, where Astor is waiting. Zelda is inside, he says, and soon she’ll die there. It was foretold.
That triggers another flashback. A fortune teller, younger than Astor, dressed suitably for an audience with the king, but unmistakably the same man, whispering to King Rohm those same words. You! screams the time traveling Impa. You caused all this!
They begin to fight, two against one, and Astor asks Can’t you of all people understand? How much have they asked of us, only to cast us out when we become inconvenient? What has our loyalty ever eared us?
Cut to King Rohm in the past, telling a child Impa that she must protect Zelda with her life. Cut again to him with a young teen Impa that Zelda can’t be distracted with any frivolous studies or games, and Impa is not to see her anymore.
In the present, both Impas appear to falter for a moment. Astor smiles and opens his hands to them. They look to each other, and nod.
And then completely obliterate him.
They make their way to Zelda and Link in the Sanctum, where Ganon’s power has converged for an endless assault on the hero. He’s protected Zelda, but he’s wearing down. For a moment it looks like the Impas are too late, but then the Divine Beasts strike! Maybe here there’s a mission for each of the Beasts complete with some cutscenes of each Champion pair.
Then, as Ganon is weakened, Link strikes again and again. Zelda despairs because even now, her sealing power will not awaken. The time traveling Impa tells her she knows she can do it, she’s seen her.
You have? Zelda asks, hope in her eyes for the first time since the Calamity started.
And then Ganon summons his strength to strike at Impa. She falls, badly injured, and Zelda and the other Impa run to her side while Link batters Ganon further.
Princess, Impa says with faltering breath. Your power has always been in your heart. I wish I had defied fate sooner.
Her eyes close, and Zelda lets out an anguished scream for her old friend. Her power explodes outward from her, the bow of light materializes and the final fight is played as her, taking Calamity Ganon head on.
She is victorious, but it is, it seems, a bittersweet victory. She emerges from the castle somber, Link trailing her, one Impa carrying the other.
But Age of Calamity is a triumph story, and Mipha has healing powers.
Impa comes too and has an emotional reunion, and then the new Champions agree it’s time for them to return to their own time. Goodbyes are had-- Sidon is particularly lingering, though he won’t say why-- and they all step into a portal Impa makes.
But then it doesn’t close.
Impa realizes that she has to return as well. She argues I fixed it! I belong here! But it is unmoving. She turns heavy hearted to say her goodbyes. The Impa that belongs there promises she’ll be at Zelda’s side from now on. Link nods. The Champions say their bit, and then she finds she doesn’t know what to say to Zelda, and ends up pulling her into a tight hug and then running through the portal without another word.
She finds herself back in her half-destroyed word, the bright sun of a peaceful Hyrule replaced with the dark clouds of the Calamity. Impa’s shoulders slump.
But then a portal opens up, and a letter flutters down, on stationary clearly marking it as from the Royal Family. Impa catches hold of it and smiles, a little piece of the victory she fought for now in her hands.

jealous zelink? for number five for fluff?
Tumblr media
I made this another Queen and Her Bodyguard thingy because I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
:( I can’t control myself and I’m taking a chance by not proof reading it thoroughly. Can you tell I’m turning into a sucker for slice-of-life stuff? (It’s still before their affair)
---
“Gorgeous!” Urbosa threw her hands in the air dramatically, the audience laughed while a picture of the Queen at the Parliamentary Ball displayed on the screen. There were small “Ooo!”s and “Aww!”s behind the camera that would only be appropriate for a television talk show.
It was an elaborate midnight blue dress. The neckline dipped low, exposing her collar bone before cascading into a myriad of shimmering fabric. A long slit was left to expose the pale skin of her left leg.
“Thank you, but I admit it made me rather nervous at the time,” she smiled, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear. Nervous was an understatement. A mere hour before the red carpet, it took five people to calm down and reassure her that she would be okay.
Urbosa shook her head in disbelief, “You had the world shocked! Who knew blue at a black-tie event would be so… groundbreaking!”
There was that laughter.
Zelda rolled her eyes, “Now you’re just saying that. It wasn’t my idea. All of these sweet comments should be directed towards my designer Malon Lon-Lon.”
“Fair enough,” Urbosa leaned forward. “Now, Your Majesty, we must hear about the tea.”
There were noises in the audience that made the Queen look at the display behind her. It was a slideshow of any somewhat attractive man that attended the event a couple days ago.
A thick blush crawled up her neck that Urbosa noticed immediately – because she did it on purpose.
“Tell us about the afterparty and if the country can expect a King soon,” Urbosa grinned as a wolf whistle played over the speaker. It went without saying that the famous talk show host and the Queen had been friends for years and with every appearance came playful jabs at her singleness. The private knowledge of doing this just so it made Zelda flustered was only a bonus.
“Urbosa, you do this every time,” she laughed. “And you know I hate to disappoint you.”
“Darling, you could avoid that and announce a wedding date exclusively my show.”
That made the Queen and the live audience laugh again.
“My deepest condolences then,” she finally said. “There is no one in my sights and I don’t plan there to be any in the immediate future.”
“You heard it hear first folks,” Urbosa somberly said to the camera. “Now, thank you Queen Zelda, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to sit down with us today. Up next! A live performance from The Indigo-Go’s!”
The show wound down into a commercial break. Zelda breathed a sigh of relief when the bright lights dimmed.
As she rose from her seat, Urbosa held their hands together.
“Again! I’m indebted to you. Thank you for coming, Zelda.”
The blonde mirrored her smile, “Absolutely, I’m happy to help a friend.”
The makeup department whisked Urbosa away before they could talk anymore and Zelda made a mental note to text her for a planned lunch. Her feet found the backstage. As she thumbed through the list of thoughts she made for herself this morning.
“Your car is waiting out back,” a low voice caught her by surprise.
Link was walking behind her, seeming to have just gotten off the phone. She let him take the lead because he somehow knew every exit to any convoluted building.
When they reached the door, there were bustling noises outside. Link gave her that questioning look and she nodded. He opened the door for her.
Afternoon sunlight hit her first, then the flashing clicks of cameras. Carefully she carved a carboard expression for the paparazzi.
A reassuring hand on her back pushed her forward. Shortly, her vision cleared to see her detail and the show’s security loyally keeping the fans and gossip reporters back. Metal guards were put down, but it didn’t stop their shouts.
“Your Majesty tell us about your relationship with Prince Harrington!”
“I love you, Queen Zelda!”
“When will there be a suitor ball? We want a King!”
“Are you secretly engaged to Harrington?”
The smile continued until the car door slammed shut and Link was able to climb in on the other side. He gave two taps on the driver’s shoulder that told him to step on it. The Queen let her shoulder’s drop as the vehicle lurched forward. Her bodyguard whispered a short word into his earpiece and watched through the back window as they peeled away.
Zelda nestled into the seat and kicked off her heels.
Link spoke up first, “How did you meet the Urbosa Snapdragon?”
The question did what it was intended, making her scoff before a sweet grin covered the signs of stress.
“Oh, gods,” she said wistfully, “Remember when I told you how I convinced Dad to let me go to a public university for two years? A lot of our theater aligned and… I don’t know… we got paired up for nearly every project and I stayed at her dorm for hours watching the most outlandish Gerudo dramas.”
“You took theater?”
“Minored in it. I’m a born politician,” her head lulled to look at him with a grin. “Easy classes to ace.”
They rattled on like childhood friends. Like always, he found her easy to talk to. He can always tell when she was speaking to him. It was so much different than when she made public appearances, but her voice was still like the coolness of clean bedsheets and through the years it adopted an irreplaceable familiarity to his ears.
The remainder of the day went on as normal. She attended parliament and ran through the list of e-mails at her computer until the clock hit five and that was what separated today from any other day.
Today was the first Friday of the month.
Giddiness made her smile as she found her purse. Zelda had changed out of her suit and into a simple sundress. Malon texted her with a list of movies she had bought. A knock at the door caused her to push it open and she met Link with an infectious happiness.
“You don’t have to come, you know,” she said as they bounded down the halls. “I enjoy driving.”
“You can drive and I’ll wait in the car, then,” he thumbed the car keys in between his fingers, ignoring that he quite enjoyed the bothered look on her face. “Because that means you’re telling me that you aren’t going to drink when the Lon-Lon family owns the oldest winery in Hyrule.”
“I’ll ask Daruk then,” Zelda sniffed indignantly.
“Now it sounds like you’re trying to avoid me, Your Grace.”
That made her glare at him, “No, it does not, Mister Forester, because I want you to spend your Friday night doing whatever it is you wish doing.”
“Daruk has a wife and four kids. I’d think that they would mind more than me.”
Embarrassment made itself known on her cheeks before she had the sense to turn away.
“Hurry up,” she turned just barely and Link had to walk faster to keep up with her skipping.
 ---
“Shh!” was what he heard first as footsteps rustled the gravel in front of Malon Lon-Lon’s manor. Over the hills, he could see the lights of Castle Town. There were light giggles the closer the two women got. Link reached over and pushed the passenger door open.
“Shut up, Zelda!” Malon squeaked out, consequently snorting. It made Zelda doubled over in silent laughter until she could breathe. The red head held her up, partially leaning on the blonde to keep herself upright.
“You did not!”
“Oh, but I did,” Malon breathed in, stumbling over the gravel with a sharp curse. “And I told him to sod off. I mean what kind of moron thought that that coat was it?”
“The media’s posterchild Prince Erik Harrington, love,” Zelda laughed herself into the car seat. Malon folded her arms in the open window.
“I’m going to send him hate mail,” she declared.
“No, you aren’t.”
“I’m going to get all of my designer friends to harass his stylist on Twitter.”
“Malon!” Zelda sputtered. “He’s still the prince of Termina!”
She scrunched her nose, “Not his stylist, honey!”
They shared another fit of wobbly laughter and Malon turned her gaze to Link.
“Get her home safe, Link,” she smiled. “I love this girl. If anything happens and I don’t get to design her summer solstice gown, I’m coming for you first.”
She gestured “I’m watching you!” with her pointer and middle fingers. Link grinned, “I expect no less from you, Malon.”
“Alrighty, Zelda, go to sleep!”
“Goodnight!”
Link pulled the car onto the paved residency road as Zelda played with the radio nobs until she found something she liked. The car hummed along into the night and he absently wondered what was on her mind. Probably something about how many more months until she had the time to do something like this again.
She sighed with a blissful smile, “Hi.”
For a moment, he let his eyes wander away from the road. “Hi.”
Her words were lazier than they usually were. Zelda let her legs stretch and she leaned against the side of the door to look at him. It was a wonder how expressive her eyes were.
“Are you going to tell me or are you going to make me ask?” Link looked over at the road again, pulling to a stop to let the gates open. It wouldn’t be too long of a drive. They were only twenty minutes from the city limits.
Her eyes squinted at him from across the car, “It’s a bit rude that you can just read my mind when I can’t read yours.”
“I’m almost positive that I’m legally bound to answer any question you can think of,” Link’s eyes flickered to hers.
“No, I very much prefer you to answer on your own volition,” she frowned. It was a harmless joke, but the subtle truth in it soured her already muddled head.
“Does it bother you that much?”
Quietly, she debated herself for a moment.
“Maybe a little.”
“Okay,” he rested his elbow on the car door. “How about you ask whatever is on your mind and if I don’t want to tell you, I won’t.”
Zelda pulled her shall tighter around her shoulders, then a silly soft laughter bubbled from her, “I wish I wasn’t drunk. I can’t think of anything – Oh! No, I’ve got one. What do you think of that Termina prince?”
“Who?”
“Erik. Erik Harrington,” she shook her head and ran her index finger under her eyes to see if her mascara smudged. It hadn’t and even with her hair in disarray, she looked… well… Link couldn’t think of a word that was proper for someone of his station.
Her bodyguard quirked a brow, “Why should I have an opinion of your romantic partners?”
At her lack of response, he looked over. It seemed like she was in deep thought.
With a soft tone, almost thoughtful, she said, “I never said anything about it being romantic. Why does everyone assume…”
Her voice trailed off and she mumbled something to herself, now more interested in scrutinizing the patterns of her sundress. Link felt a pang of guilt. He opened his mouth to apologize, but her mood had already shifted. With a slanted smile he only ever saw when she was in this state, her green eyes met his.
“Why shouldn’t you have an opinion?”
A part of him wanted to smooth the loose strands of hair that fell in her eyes so he could see that green clearer, but he gripped the steering wheel instead.
Link shrugged, “I guess I don’t look at it as having that much weight.”
“We’re talking about the future King of Hyrule,” she was dead serious, but a glint in her eye made him stifle a grin so he could match her demeanor. “The last time a checked your file, it said you were a Hyrulean citizen. Unless that’s changed, that means you are fully entitled to have an opinion and I wish to know it to appease my constituency.”
“My opinion on Erik Harrington?”
“Yes.”
“He seems a little… pompous.”
She gawked, “That’s all!”
He shrugged, “I don’t know the guy. Doesn’t really seem fair.”
“Humor me.”
“Gods, I don’t know,” a tinge of laughter lined his words. “I heard at the ball, he said something rude to Daruk. Aryll sometimes mentions when he’s on television. Again, I don’t know, but you’ve spoken to him. What’s your opinion?”
“My opinion,” Zelda echoed, watching the scenery unfold as they pulled onto the highway. It was the time of night where there weren’t that many cars of the road. Link always wondered if she ever got sick of the city, but it never seemed like it. The people? Absolutely. But never the city itself. The woman was a shoe-in for it, but he also suspected she’d fit in anywhere with a personality like that.
“My opinion is if he learned how to close his mouth, he’d be infinitely more attractive.”
He hummed, “So, does he have a chance?”
Zelda looked up at him oddly, “Does he? What do you think?”
The way she said it made him worry if she wasn’t playing around anymore. She sat back in her seat, “I’m sorry. That was a silly question.”
The only sounds were the gentle rumblings of the engine and light songs from the radio. She had chosen that acoustic indie folk channel, the same one that he sometimes catches her listening to in her office.
“I think he has a fake accent,” Link suddenly said over the silence. It made her look up; surprise turning into a certain astonishment.
“And I’m not a man for fashion, but I think Malon was right. The peacock coat wasn’t it.”
That made her laugh and her laugh made him happy.
Zelda raised her eyebrows, “Does he smell bad too?”
“Oh, yeah. Really bad. Bet he wears a toupee.”
Her laughter sloped to new volumes as they exchanged qualities that were most certainty false. From him wearing platform shoes to having oddly long toes, it was all complete nonsense. But he couldn’t stop smiling at her happiness and the more outlandish their claims were the more it heightened. Eventually, they pulled into the back gates of the castle.
Before he could get out to open her door, she stopped him.
“So, he doesn’t have a chance,” Zelda bit her lip lightly.
He tore away from the sight and shrugged, “Make your own conclusions from it.”
Her smile threatened to devolve into another fit of giggles, “I have one conclusion. You’re jealous.”
Link watched her closely. She was leaning both of her elbows on the center console and leered at him. One of the straps to her sundress had slipped and her hair was now fully released from her loose braid. His eyes lingered on her smudged lipstick.
“Can I be honest with you?” his gaze flickered up to hers.
She nodded and his hand left the door.
“I prefer my queens without a king.”
The corner of his mouth hiked into a lopsided smile and he climbed out of the car.

The Outsider Chapter 9
Good Ganondorf x reader
Word Count: 1054
Summary: It’s a hard knock life. For. You. Tough decisions are tough in dangerous times.
You were incredibly, undeniably, un-fucking-pleasently on-edge as you and your husband sat by the little campfire he’d made not too long before. The two of you had spent the day in a private, tiny little oasis just training to keep your minds from running wild with thoughts about how close you came to a potential assassin that morning. Training had always helped both of you center, so it was an easy fall-back in times like these. Now, however, you were both too physically and mentally exhausted to continue.
Nixa tracked you down earlier to inform you of the investigation’s progress. Which was essentially nonexistent. Neither her nor Emati found anything that could be linked to the break-in. All they could really tell was that whoever had committed the crime did not use magic as an aid to sneak in; they were just that skilled. Emati was trained in some magic arts including the detection of other sorcerers, so the fact that even she was unable to find anything was simply . . . alarming. And after that little revelation, the lot of you decided that you and Ganondorf should remain gone until at least the next day. No one else knew of this little paradise away from the palace, so you would be safe here.
But that didn’t stop you from frowning deeply as you fell deep into thought on the matter at hand. Such serious thoughts rarely ran through your head when you were in a position like yours--head resting in Ganondorf’s lap with his fingers trailing through your hair--but this was hardly a normal situation. You couldn’t stop trying to come up with a solution to these problems that would please all parties, including yourself. You couldn’t carry on the way you had been. Your attempts had won over some, but not enough to make attempts like this obsolete. Clearly it wasn’t working. You couldn’t step down because it would destroy Ganon if you left him, and honestly you weren’t sure if you could survive it either. Around and around the options went, none of which sounding good enough to take a chance on.
Until you remembered a meeting you’d had a few days prior.
A party of Gerudo was needed in Hyrule. Apparently a city within central Hyrule had requested a caravan of dancers to celebrate some local holiday, and thought that the Gerudo would be the perfect entertainment. The advisors argued over the matter for several hours that day. Some thought that going would be a show of how the Gerudo had become nothing more than trained pets willing to do tricks for their masters. Others, like yourself, saw no harm in allowing the already-existing traveling troupe of dancers to do what they did best. It was their trade; what was the harm in getting paid just like they always would except farther away?
The longer you thought about it here in the peaceful night away from the opinions of the advisors, the more you felt that they should be allowed to go if they wished. And they had. That troupe had viewed it as a way to get some foreign publicity while getting paid for it. Perhaps it was a pathway to make a name for themselves out in the world.
Perhaps . . . You sighed. It did seem the best of the options you had laid out in your head.
“What is on your mind?” Ganondorf asked quietly.
Your hand tensed where it sat on the edge of your sword. Despite your relaxed positions, neither of you had allowed your weapons to stray very far. “I think . . . I think it might be best for me to leave for a while.” You glanced up at his face nervously when his fingers froze in your hair.
“What do you mean?” The words were careful, measured, and held no small amount of worry within them.
“If they have managed to make it into the palace, nowhere is safe; we both know that,” you stated simply. “And with no leads to find out who did this, it isn’t safe for me to be there.” You could see the way his jaw clenched. He didn’t want to hear the words, but you knew he agreed in his heart. Your hand drifted up to cup his cheek. “Our people need their king even when their queen can’t be there. I will accompany the dancing troupe to Hyrule while you find our assassin.”
“That isn’t safe!” he argued. “You have no idea how the Hylians will react to seeing you with our people.”
“It’s not safe to be in our own quarters!” you shouted right back. “Or have you forgotten that the reason we’re out here is because someone broke in this fucking morning?!”
That seemed to do the trick to shut him up. It was so rare that the two of you got into arguments, it was blatantly clear that he had no idea how to handle you yelling at him.
“Now,” you started, much more calmly even though you could still feel the blood that’d rushed to your face causing a flush, “I know I am your wife, and you’re still my king, but you do not get to dictate every one of my decisions. I’m going, and you’re going to find out who is behind this so I can come home.”
He sagged like a puppet with its strings cut, knowing he didn’t have a leg to stand on in this argument. “I don’t like it.”
“You think I do?” you questioned. Sitting up on your knees, you held his face in your hands once more. “I love you more than anything; I never want to be away from you.” You breathed deeply to try and stop the tears that were threatening to fall down your face. “But we don’t have a choice this time. Things will not get better if I am at the palace. We’ve tried it for months, and it hasn’t worked. We have to try something new.”
His hand came up to cup the back of your head now, pressing his forehead against yours. “You will be careful.” You were a little startled by the tears that welled up in his eyes as he commanded this. “And you will come back to me.”
“By your command, my king,” you agreed shakily. “I promise.”

Chapter 3- Basically plot part 2
As the sun rose in the sky, the heroes stirred from their slumber and began to filter out of their rooms, all with the exception of three. Laughter and a groan were heard from the room that housed the other three companions.
Wind was about to volunteer to see what was going on with the other three when Warriors came out of the room struggling to contain a fit of laughter.
“Baby faced boy!” before all other words were lost to laughter.
As the others rushed to the room, they were met with a concerned Hyrule speaking to a mass under the blankets.
“Wild, it’s not bad! Just come on out.”
A muffled no was heard.
“What’s going on?”
“Warriors hasn’t stopped laughing.”
Off in the distance, the cackling continued as broken words of apology spilled from the young man.
“Shut up,” came the muffled reply.
“It’s just… Wild has regressed and-”
The small mass moved, “Don’t you dare say it.”
“His voice cracked,” Hyrule whispered to the group.
A groan just resounded with the blankets.
“Wild, it’s okay! Just come on out.”
With a sigh of resignation, Wild removed the blankets and stared at the other six. Messy blond hair accompanied a disgruntled face.
“Pfft… Baby face! I’m sorry. I need to go.” Legend left to go join Warriors outside.
Wild just deepened his glare. Baby blue eyes soon landed on the other five. Smiles of varying degrees were observed. “Just out with it, will you.”
“You are so adorable!”
“Honestly, it isn’t that bad. You still are you, cub… Just younger.”
“I look stupid!” Eyes became wide. Snorts of laughter left some and Wild just hid. “My voice sounds so stupid!”
Despite Time being amused, he gingerly placed his hand on the mass under the blankets. “Your voice cracked. We all went through that.”
“Yeah, Wild. I sometimes go through that myself. But you look pretty neat though! And don’t mind the baby face. I also suffer from the syndrome as well.”
“Okay, okay. Can you please leave? I’ll get ready so we can see Impa.”
As everyone left, Twilight stayed behind, “If you need help, just call out, okay?”
Scoffing, Wild became offended, “As if. Now get out of my room.”
“Bossy, bossy. We’ll be waiting for you.”
----
Legend and Warriors waited for the others as they regrouped nearby.
“I shouldn’t have laughed. But the way his voice cracked made me lose it. Normally I don’t let things get to me, but it was just different. I guess it was the baby face that did me in.”
“He’s not ready to go?” Legend looked around.
Before anything else could be said, the sound of a creaking door grabbed the attention as eight heads swiveled around to see a meek-looking face peering from the side.
“Twi? I need help.”
-----
Exiting out of the inn, Legend commented, “Oi, didn’t your clothes shrink with you or something?”
The boy harbored his usual garb, minus the boots. His champion tunic hung off of one shoulder and his pants were rolled up and a piece of torn fabric looped around the belt loops to keep the pants somewhat in place.
Looking Legend up and down with a glare, Wild responded, “Wouldn’t you and your pasty knees like to know.”
Laughter erupted from almost everyone.
Flabbergasted, Legend became offended. “You leave my knees out of this, brat!”
He only earned a stick of the tongue. Legend had to be held back by Sky before he smacked the young boy upside the head.
Upon arriving at the grand home, two sheikah guards stood at attention and blocked the entrance to the staircase with their weapons. Shoving the others aside, Wild came up to the two men.
“Hey guys! I’m here to speak with Impa. It’s for important business. And these guys are with me.”
Upon looking at the young boy, both men saw the sheikah slate hanging by a piece of fabric- at the demand of Wild to Twilight.
“Ah, Master Link! Apologies. We have been notified by Impa to be expecting your visit. We did not recognize you at all.”
“As stated, please step on inside. Impa awaits your visit.”
“Thanks Cado, Dorian! Come on guys!” Wild began making his way up the stairs as he held on to his loose pants and looked behind him as the others all filed along and followed after the smaller boy. Upon reaching the grand doors, Wild adjusted his pants once more and pushed the doors open, allowing himself and his companions to enter along.
“Ah, young champion, I have been awaiting your arrival,” an old voice called out. “So there was truth to what Purah had said. You do not look a day over ten.”
“I assume Purah has told you everything there is to know?”
“Indeed I have been made aware of the unfortunate incident that has befallen you. It has been such a long time since these old eyes seen such a young lad.” Impa hadn’t missed the bashful smile that graced Wild’s features. “But I must ask how you have been feeling so far, young hero?”
As Wild began to delve into how he had been feeling, soft footsteps took the attention of the others in the room as a young sheikah woman made herself known.
“Grandmother? Has Master Link arrived yet?”
She stopped at the footsteps and her bashful nature took over as she noted the others who were in the room.
“Ah! I-I’m sorry! I didn’t r-realize our guests were here al-ready!”
“Paya!”
A gasp left the woman as she was soon overtaken by a hug from a young boy. Looking to her grandmother, she received a nod from the elderly woman and realization dawned that the young boy hugging her was the champion she deeply admired and low-key crushed on.
“M-Master Link! S-so good to s-see you!” She couldn’t help but hug back awkwardly.
“Paya, why don’t you accompany the young champion and get him at least a set of clothes that will properly fit him. Link, here. This should be enough to buy you something.”
“Such kindness you harbor for me, oh great village chief. Thank you.” Taking the rupees, Wild immediately ran to Paya, grabbing her hand and leading her outside with such energy that the poor young woman did everything to not trip over her own two feet.
The smile soon faded from Impa as she directed her gaze back to the others in the room. “Purah tells me that there were instances that he recalls memories of long ago. What has he said or what has he shared?”
Both Warriors and Hyrule looked at one another.
“Well, when we arrived at the dead of night at the inn, Wild, I mean, Link, was just exhausted. Swaying as if he spent days with no sleep.”
Hyrule continued, “He just started responding to someone or something. Something about flowers and how he needed to go see you. I tried to bring it up this morning, but he had no recollection and was angry.”
“Angry? Because of his predicament or because of something else?”
“Well, you see,” Warriors became a bit meek, “I laughed at his voice. It just cracked. I don’t know why it made me laugh, but it did.”
“I see. But nothing else?”
All heads shook.
“Just to clear things up, Purah did let you know that his behavior would change, correct?” all heads nodded. “The display of affection was not of his character. At least it hasn’t been since a while. I know questions are whirring in those minds of yours, but do not utter them. Those conversation pieces you heard last night must be from his young life that is bleeding into his current memories.”
“So you say that it’s not just behavior that would change but memories will  surface?”
“Aye. how far and to what extent is truly unknown. I pray to Hylia above that it is not harsh on him. I do have one major concern for him. The Yiga.”
The room became cold. Time swore his breath could be seen. “There has been mention of that group.”
“A group of assassins whose goal is to murder the Hylian champion for the blood spilt from their lord and master. With the defeat of the Calamity, the pursuit of the hero has decreased some, but not enough to stop completely. Link is not out of danger. I am aware of the switching of worlds, but I urge you all to use caution when you are in this world.”
“I think we can manage,” spoke Time.
“I believe it to be ideal to pick and choose names when in the company of strangers. I do not believe titles would be wise as the Yiga are aware of the title of the champion. The only ones who are currently aware of Link’s condition are a select few. Zelda has also been notified. But I have a feeling that you lot will not be able to see her as the goddess has a timer currently set.”
“We will be careful. Thank you for that. And we will be taking good care of him, worry not.”
“Thank you.”
And at that moment, the doors opened as the young woman before stepped in, “I’m s-sorry… Master Link demands you all join him and Koko for breakfast.”
Standing up and dusting himself, Twilight turned his attention back to Impa. “I believe that is our cue to leave. You have our promise to watch him safely.”
“May Hylia above grant you patience and strength. He was a wild child.”
“I freaken knew it...”
-------
Exhaling a breath, Paya looked to her grandmother. “He was such an endearing young boy. So energetic and lively.”
“He wasn’t always like that. Younger? Yes. But it felt like eons since I saw that energy once again.”
“It must have been nice to see once more. You were very kind to give him some rupees. He was able to purchase a hylian tunic set. He was a little embarrassed to have asked for assistance in measurements, but he was so elated. He claimed it to be a gift from the ‘Great Village Chief’. He would have thanked you, but he saw Koko cooking and wanted to help prepare a meal for his companions before he demanded I come get them.” Paya could help but laugh as the memory of the small Hylian puffed out his cheeks to come get the others.
“What’s the matter, Grandmother?”
“I have been filled with such great sadness, my dear granddaughter. Those rupees were a mere gift to slowly attone for the sin I have committed against the young champion. I cannot help but fear a storm is brewing. I just hope they all exercise caution.”
Paya wanted to inquire for more. But she did not. Nor did she want to worry her poor grandmother over an acclaimed suspicion of a merchant that both her and Link encountered. Paya, like other sheikah, has been wary of outsiders that come to visit Kakariko. But that one merchant just sent shivers down her spine. There was no time as Link pulled her inside the Enchanted Armour shop, losing sight of that merchant. But it must have been her nerves.
Before she could excuse herself, Cado came bursting in, followed by Dorian.
“A dark portal appeared and Master Link with his companions all went in!”
“The portal then disappeared and there is no trace whatsoever of the young master!”
“Calm yourselves. If it were a dark source of energy, I would have been out the door praying and creating a barrier of some sort, would I have not? It was the will of the goddess that that portal appeared there. You may go in peace. You are also excused, Paya.”
Finally alone, Impa began to pray, “Hylia above, watch over them.”

Captain N - Chapter 5: Lavancha the Unlikely
Tumblr media
"Wake up, Peter Lavancha."
Captain N shot awake in his bed, alarmed by the sudden voice inside his head. He could immediately place whose it was: Princess Zelda. But after turning on the light and looking around the room, he couldn't see her anywhere. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he got out of bed and glanced out the window. Unfortunately, he was still in his hotel room in New Leaf Town on the brave new world of Yamajiro, and not in his bedroom back on Earth. His small hope for everything going back to normal dashed, Captain N glanced at the nearby clock. The ornate yet refurbished clock read 7:24, reminding him of what's on the agenda for today. In a little more than half an hour, he'll meet with legendary vampire hunter Simon Belmont to get some training on how to be an awesome world-savior. Pacing around the comfortably-decorated hotel room, his mind wandered to the possibilities of today. Apart from two months of Karate classes when he was ten, Captain N never received any formal training of this nature. On one hand, if Simon Belmont is as incredible as he's made out to be, which is more than likely the case, he could hardly ask for a better tutor in the art of combat, especially when he needs to learn how to effectively fight now more than ever. On the other hand, Simon's sheer size intimidated him. The mere thought of what intense, rigorous training got him to that shape sent a cold feeling down Captain N's spine. It is fortunate that he'll be receiving training away from the prying eyes of the townspeople. These decent people need hope in these times of darkness, and seeing their predestined savior embarrass himself in a training exercise could make plant the seeds of despair.
Fake it 'til you make it, Cap.
Captain N's attention was drawn back to the present with the sensation of his stomach rumbling, reminding him that a hearty breakfast is essential in getting a good start on the day. Not wanting to keep Pit, Falco or Zelda waiting, Captain N quickly dressed himself in his now-dry clothes and stuck his Zapper in his right pocket before exiting his room and making his way down to the lobby. The three teammates were already there, immediately noticing Captain N against the other small, anthropomorphic townspeople. "Morning, sunshine." Falco greeted, leaning against the wall. "Cut him some slack, Falco. He had a really hectic day yesterday and needed his rest." Pit reminded him. Falco nodded nonchalantly in response. "I see you got my little wake-up call." Zelda smirked. Captain N nodded, rubbing his head. "I never knew you could do that kind of magic stuff." Captain N replied. "There's plenty of things you don't know about me." Came Zelda's voice, once again inside Captain N's head. This strange sensation threw him off, eliciting some light chuckling from the three. "You'll get used to it." Pit assured him. Nodding, Captain N laughed a bit. "I'll take your word for it, man."
Breakfast was shared between the four. Upon receiving the plates of fried eggs and bacon alongside glasses of water. Captain N nervously glanced over at Falco, assessing his response to the food. Falco casually cut apart the egg and ate a small portion of it, chewing the food in his beak and noticing Captain N assessing him.
"What?" Falco asked him.
Captain N shifted his jaw, trying to figure how best to word his question.
"Well... I, uh... aren't you... a bird?" He finally asked, referring to Falco's blue, anthropomorphic bird physique.
Falco's eyes squinted in confusion, then realized what he's referring to.
"Don't worry, this stuff might as well be a different species to me." Falco assured, turning his attention back to the fried eggs.
"You had to have known that concern was inevitable." Zelda spoke up, gently placing her utensils to the side as she took a sip of water. Falco simply shrugged, more focused on breakfast. Figuring now's a good time to ask some questions, Captain N turned to Pit. "So... Palutena is an actual Goddess?" He asked.
"Yup! The Goddess of light!" Pit confirmed.
"And Raiden is the God of thunder?"
"That's right!"
Captain N paused for a moment.
"Like, people actually worship them? And they live forever?"
"That's part of what being a God is."
"...Should I worship them?"
"I don't think they'll mind."
"Are there... other deities?"
"Totally! There's Viridi, Fujin, Dyntos, Shinnok, Din, Nayru, Farore, and... some others." Pit trailed off, his mood souring somewhat. "But they've all got their own duties as Gods and Goddesses, so we can really only rely on Raiden and Lady Palutena for whatever divine intervention we can get."
Captain N turned his attention back to his breakfast. Taking a bite, he was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the eggs were. A mixture of salt, pepper and other ingredients he couldn't place makes for possibly the best eggs he has ever eaten. The hunger in his stomach grew much more apparent, which he was quick to remedy. Greedily wolfing down the delectable meal, Captain N found himself finished with his breakfast sooner than everyone else. Pit came in second, followed by Falco, with Zelda being the last to finish her breakfast, delicately placing her fork and knife on her carefully folded napkin. "Mind if I take these?" Asked a blue/white male cat wearing a checkered sweater. The four shook their heads, and the newcomer bowed gracefully before skillfully stacked the cleared plates on top of each other, along with the used forks and knives. "We should get going, Simon isn't known for his patience." Zelda reminded the group. "Yeah, let's go." Captain N agreed, getting up and making his way to the hotel door. Looking back to wave goodbye to the hotel's host. Noticing a large amount of townspeople's eyes glued to the illustrious team, Captain N left before his awkwardness could be made too apparent.
The fresh, crisp air of a new morning helped invigorate Captain N. The air tasted the same as yesterday, that is to say slightly different from the air he's breathed for 18 years on Earth. Foot traffic in New Leaf Town was light, it still being early in the morning. He waved to a couple of nearby townspeople, who happily waved back. "Looks like you slept well." Falco remarked, joining Captain N. "Sure did, yesterday was a lot. How about you?" He asked back. Falco shrugged slightly before answering with "Eh, it wasn't the best sleeping situation." Pit and Zelda joined the two in their conversation. "Well, you don't hear Princess Zelda complaining. If it's good enough for her, it's good enough for you." Captain N pointed out. Zelda smirked slightly. "Come on, time's a-wasting!" Pit interrupted, leading the path to the entrance of New Leaf Town.
---
Outside town, one of the Kremlings managed to escape the scuffle that occurred between the Kremlings and Captain N and company. Rummaging around inside the bag of tools they brought, he eventually found a communicator device. Opening it up, the Kremling punched in the communications codes and waited for a response. After a few moments of nervously waiting, the screen lit up with the images of Bowser, King K. Rool and King Dedede sitting at a large table facing the screen. The large crocodillian wearing a red cape known as King K. Rool had his face turn sour upon seeing him, the large, turtle-like Koopa king with spikes all over his shell named Bowser snarled upon receiving this interruption, and the large, blue penguin donned in regal attire that is King Dedede rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair. "What is it, minion?" King K. Rool snarled, making the Kremling shrink back a bit. "Well, yesterday, on the way to collect your "taxes" from New Leaf Town, we were ambushed." The Kremling explained to his superiors. "And I assume you were victorious? Because the only possible reason I can imagine you would interrupt our meeting is to bring us GOOD news, correct?" Bowser asked, making the Kremling even more nervous. "Actually... we... I'm the... only survivor." He meekly admitted. "WHAT!?" King K. Rool roared, shooting up from his chair, almost knocking King Dedede off his own chair. "I trained only the bravest and the best of you simpletons! Who could possibly have defeated an entire group of you morons!?" King K. Rool demanded. The Kremling's mind raced, trying to recall who exactly opposed his team yesterday. "Th-th-there was that pipsqueak that runs Palutena's Royal Guard, the blue bird who skipped out on Star Fox, that Princess from Hyrule, and... uh... someone else." The Kremling trailed off, not knowing who the fourth assailant was. King Dedede drew closer to the screen. "What do you mean, 'you don't know'?" King Dedede interrogated, raising his large mallet for intimidation. "I mean I don't know! He didn't have ears like a Hylian, but he had on a red and white jacket and was using an orange laser pistol!" The Kremling defended.
The last detail caught the attention of the three kings. A silent exchange was had between Bowser and King Dedede, realizing what this could mean. "Where did the group come from?" King K. Rool demanded, whereupon the Kremling racked his brain from some kind of answer they would accept. "Uh... th-the north?" Was the answer the henchmen eventually gave.
"Did they come from the warp pipe to the Mushroom Kingdom?" King Dedede asked further.
"I-I-I think so."
King Dedede grew much more concerned, this emotion hidden from his two cohorts. Bowser slammed his fist down on the table, nearly shattering it. "If this mystery nuisance is the one who was said to come in this world's hour of greatest need, then everything we've worked for will have been for nothing!". King K. Rool growled at the Kremling, immensely displeased with the news. "Is he still in New Leaf town?" King K. Rool asked, earning a shaky nod from the Kremling. "Ensure he stays there! I shall send another deployment of you miserable creatures to take care of him. Do not fail me again!" King K. Rool warned. "We continue with our plan, this is only a temporary setback." Bowser assured, earning a quick nod of agreement from King Dedede. "Of course! Soon this entire planet will be mine-ours! Yamajiro will be ours!" King Dedede quickly corrected himself. The Kremling shakily saluted the three kings before ending the call. Once he was confident that no one was listening in, the Kremling let out a heavy sigh, easing a large amount of tension that had been building up. This will be taken care of soon, and nobody will be able to stop Bowser, Dedede and K. Rool... right?
---
Upon reaching the front gates of New Leaf Town, Captain N and company quickly found Simon Belmont standing by a small thorn bush. "Hey, we're here." Captain N spoke up, grabbing Simon's attention. Looking to the clouds, Simon nodded approvingly. "You're on time. That's good." He noted. Captain N stepped forward, away from Zelda, Pit and Falco and towards Simon. "So... when do we start?" He nervously asked. "Now." Simon bluntly responded, suddenly taking out his whip and lashing Captain N across the forearm. The action happened inside the blink of an eye, and Captain N fell over after yelping in surprise and pain, clutching his now stinging arm. "If you're gonna be the hero these people need, you need to be ready for anything." Simon stated bluntly as Captain N regained his footing. Zelda and Pit wanted to intervene, but were stopped by Falco. "This is his battle, not ours." He reminded them. Pit reluctantly stepped back, while Zelda remained right beside Falco.
"Alright, lesson one: be ready for anything. What's next?" Captain N asked Simon. In response, Simon wordlessly motioned for him to follow, which Captain N obliged with. After a brief walk around the outside of New Leaf Town, Simon stopped at a grass clearing, turning to face Captain N, whose arm was still in more pain than it had ever been in before. He unsheathed his whip, but tossed it aside to Captain N's relief. "Disarm yourself, Captain. You need to learn how to not have to rely on weapons." Simon ordered. With some reluctance, as if expecting another trap, Captain N slowly removed the Zapper from his pocket and tossed it right next to Simon's whip. Pit, Zelda and Falco stood in the shade of a nearby tree, the heat of the day arriving with the sun rising in the sky. Pit stood ready to intervene if necessary, regardless of what Falco might say. Simon crouched in a fighting stance, seemingly ready to attack. With much less confidence, Captain N matched Simon's posture, closing and raising his fists. "Your goal of the day is to hit me." Simon instructed. "...That's it?" Captain N asked, easing his stance in slight confusion. "Just one hit and you win." Simon reinforced, his posture just as intense. "If you feel ready for this challenge, step forward and strike me."
Captain N closed his eyes, took a few deep breaths, opened his eyes, and approached Simon after slight mental deliberation. Zelda held her breath, not looking forward to what's to come. His steps became much lighter, being ready to dodge out of the way if necessary. Simon stood rigid, eyeing Captain N as he waited for him to make the first move. Captain N targeted Simon's lower torso, and attempted a swift jab. Simon was anticipating this, and quickly intercepted Captain N's incoming fist, knocking it out of the way. The counter strike almost knocked Captain N off his feet, but he recovered before he could fall. Deciding that taking too much time makes his target too obvious, he swung his right leg out to strike the back of Simon's knee. Again, Simon anticipated this, and kicked his leg out to knock Captain N off balance. The indignity of falling on his rear was short-lived, as Captain N knew he needed to persist to get better. Still in fighting stance, Captain N backed away from Simon carefully assessing the situation. "Just one hit and you're done." Simon reminded him. Pit shook his head, knowing Captain N couldn't win. Falco leered at Pit, wordlessly reminding him to not intervene. Zelda was still watching with her breath held, paying no mind to Falco or Pit.
This continued for a period of time shorter than what Captain N would have assumed. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to land a single hit on Simon. His frustration and exhaustion were mixing to something volatile, almost boiling over at the unfairness of this "training" session and how sore his body is becoming from Simon's counter strikes. Simon remained as stoic as before, undeterred by Captain N slowing down. "Shouldn't he take a break or something?" Pit spoke up. Simon shook his head, not taking his eyes off Captain N. "You don't get breaks in real situations. You should know that, Pit." Simon bluntly answered. Falco shot Pit a silent "told you so" and Zelda forced herself to not intervene. As painful as it was to watch Captain N get beaten again and again, it's the only way he'll get stronger. Captain N tried to fake Simon out by throwing a fake punch to distract from the intended strike that was to get Simon's torso. But Simon was a step ahead, and blocked both the fake and real punch at once. Knocked off his feet, Captain N took a moment to get himself together before getting back up. Then he got an idea. Slowly getting up, Captain N wound up as powerful a punch as he could muster, but again, Simon intercepted and knocked Captain N on the ground, but he didn't get back up. Simon looked over Captain N, unimpressed. "There's his break." Simon said to Pit, finally taking his eyes off his trainee. Captain N seized this opportunity, and quickly shot his leg out to land a strike on the back of Simon's knee, almost knocking him off his balance.
Surprised, Simon looked back to see Captain N with a smug grin plastered across his face. "Lesson one: be ready for anything." Captain N teased him, almost immediately regretting his smug attitude. He recoiled in advance, expecting Simon to yell at him for improper behavior. Instead, Simon chuckled at his inventiveness. "Correct, Captain." Simon agreed, holding out a hand to help Captain N up. He took his hand, and was suddenly hoisted onto his feet. "Yeah! Go, Captain N!" Pit cheered. Pride swelling in his chest, Captain N looked over to the three, seeing Falco nod approvingly and Zelda offering a gentle, polite applause at his display. Simon tossed Captain N an apple and stated "Fifteen minute break starts now.". He gratefully bit into the crisp apple, savoring the added taste of his small victory.

Tumblr media
mun name: Amber!!  ooc contact: My DMs are always open for mutuals and non-mutuals alike (I think at least, if not don’t be afraid to send in asks either I try my best to get to them ;v;)! I do have a personal blog but weeps.... me no longer active on there. And a twitter but weeps once again, it’s an oc twitter despite my yellings of off topic things. MY DISCORD TOO!! Though my activity is very inconsistent somedays I’ll be on others not so much! Don’t be afraid to ask for that uvu
who the heck is my muse anyway?
HOHO!!! For those who never touched The Legend of Zelda in their lives, I’m sure it’s pretty dang confusing to see more than one design of both Zelda and Link, I’ll try my best to explain this! The series follows a very, very convoluted timeline filled with plotholes, as such the Links and Zeldas we see throughout different titles of the game are actually reincarnations who are destined to seal away whatever darkness may threaten the lands known as Hyrule.
The Zelda I play as is the princess of Hyrule during a point in the timeline known as “Downfall Era” where the Hero of Time in OOT lost against Ganondorf in the final battle; Ocarina of Time is the reason for why there’s multiple timelines with each having their unique era depending on the choices in that game. The Downfall Era is known for having games known as A Link to The Past, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Time, Link’s Awakening, A Link Between Worlds, Triforce Heroes, The OG Legend of Zelda, Annnnd Adventure of Link! The Zelda I play as comes from A Link to The Past as well as the Oracle series and I guess Link’s Awakening despite having no appearance. The events of A Link to The Past and Oracle Series has deeply affected my Zellie in that she suffers from unspoken traumas as well depression. See, before the events of ALTTP there was a war known as the Imprisoning War, that war ended where the seven sages seal away Ganon. Peace reigned for a while until a series of plagues and droughts struck which affected the kingdom. It wasn’t until the antagonist of the game, a wizard by the name of Agahnim, would put an end to the misfortunate blighting Hyrule with his magic, gaining favor with the king. He was able to worm his way into court and from there act on his plans in breaking the seal to the sacred realm where the triforce and Ganon rest. Doing so, he must capture the seven maidens who are descendants of the seven sages and sacrifice them in order to break the seal and well, guess which princess happens to be one of those seven maidens? Suffice to say, he was successful in breaking the seal with Zelda being the final sacrifice. Here we find out that he’s actual the alter ego of Ganon (don’t question it too hard) and we also find out she’s not dead! Hooray! But she is trapped in a plane known as The Dark World, once the sacred realm corrupted by Ganon’s greed. So as all LOZ stories goes, Link saves the day. Happily ever after, right? Well... no, see unlike in the game where the ending is happy and everyone who died is alive I follow both the 90s comics and Himekawa manga where those who died in the games did not come back to life. This includes Zelda’s father, Link’s uncle and some of the maidens. It’s very bittersweet in that, the day is saved and Ganon is gone forever but at the cost of loved ones no longer coming back.
Well... Ganon comes back! In the oracle series! Two years after ALTTP, Twinrova tries to resurrect him by using the blood and body of Princess Zelda, meaning she can actually die this time around. But Link saves the day once again. Which leads us today, the main verse of the blog which is a year after Oracles and three years after ALTTP! NOTE: That my smash verse more or less follows this timeline I have in place for this blog.
things you should know
I sound like a broken record but. She’s a glass canon of sorts. Where she’s very powerful thanks to blood of the seven sages, the light force, and having hylia’s blood in her veins. As such, she’s very powerful and her magic super potent which is why so many people wanna sacrifice for dark rituals... BUT!! She has super power health issues that affects her magical stamina and body as such she can’t even use half her powerful magic and this upsets her greatly. It’s a small headcanon of mine because in the games and manga, she doesn’t really do much despite being a powerful magical princess. Keep in mind that ALTTP came out before the retcon that is Skyward Sword and before they decided to add more to Zelda’s abilities throughout the course of the series... so my brain went to: she’s powerful but can’t use magic too much due to poor health. It worked!! Before smash came along but I swear I’m not at all salty. To be fair, it was my fault for assuming things but imagine: glass canon Zelda. It sounded super cool at the time!
She represses a lot if only for the sake of her nation and to appear as a good leader for her people. As such, she’s almost always calm and has a gentle smile on her face despite radio static sounds resounding in her thoughts. Give her time, she’ll open up and show you her playful side!
She’s been surrounded by death considering before ALTTP, during ALTTP and kinda with Oracles if you count Twinrova, as well as having a connection with the spirit realm due to freaky PSI powers. So, she doesn’t really have a negative view on death and has actually gained that edgy romanticist view as the result of her life experiences. She’s very much someone who likes to live life to her fullest as the result... and well, it doesn’t help that she’s aware of her short life span thanks to her future vision. Something she won’t reveal to anyone more than likely as to not worry them. She’s more or less accepted her fate... speaking of which
She hates fate/destiny/etc but accepts whatever happens because again clairvoyance has proven that there’s no changing what’s been planned. So, she doesn’t bother fighting against it. But, what impresses her are those who manage to overcome destiny, something that Link does sometimes which is why she looks up to him. He’s that variable that the future can’t keep track of due to how ever changing he is.
She loves exploring creepy places, ruins, caves, and dungeons that are scattered throughout her kingdom, for both history and the spooky aesthetics of it! So if you see her outside the castle she’s more than likely getting ready to explore some spooky place. She’s almost always wearing her cloak but there are rare moments where she’s not either ;v; she’ll always go by the name Elle... worth mention she doesn’t bother hiding the mark of the triforce on her right hand.
Speaking of which, only people from the capital known as Castle Town and even some from Kakariko village as well know of the princess’ appearance. Various small towns throughout the land of Hyrule however, only remember her appearance from ALTTP where her hair was a more golden blonde rather than the platinum color that it’s taken from the various fear and stresses from her life. And also, she’s more freckly due to not wearing coverup when outside the castle. Ok well,,,,, here’s the best side by side comparison I have...
Tumblr media
If you ask her what the light arrows are, she’ll look at you funny. She comes from a time where silver arrows are a thing :’) the few things that can defeat Ganon
Closet romantic, as in she loves love and wishes for a romance of her own but when it comes to her own feelings she’s an idiot due to repressing feelings.
what she’s been up to:
main verse: Which is during the events of Skyward Sword, as such she’s no longer in Skyloft nor does she have the full knowledge that she’s Hylia but Zelda is suspecting that there’s a connection there. She does not know how to wield her magic as it comes and goes in spurts. She’s seen throughout the Surface so she can be anywhere! Even in other timelines due to using the Gate of Time, we can just say that something screwed up causing for her to end up in another time period or even verse! LOZ series is pretty flexible in time travel.
where to find her:
Graveyard + Sanctuary: It’s a soothing place to visit and also to pay respects to the fallen in ALTTP.
One of the three provinces (my rendition of Hyrule is a little bigger than the in game map so don’t be afraid to add places that aren’t in ALTTP but in other titles, I know I tend to do): aka anywhere in the fields, she’s a woman plagued with wanderlust and doesn’t like being confined to one place
Kakariko: the villagers who know her true identity are hella nice to pretend that it’s not the princess but Elle! Guards tend to be here after a certain time though, so to avoid them she always avoids going to the village when it’s nearly sundown
Ruins, catacombs, abandon shrines etc: again she likes creepy or historical places or both!
Haunted Grove: Well... it’s haunted! So :’)
Castle: it’s possible to meet her here too! Whether as princess or someone sneaking either out of the castle or back into it.
current plans:
Lead her kingdom to the Golden Age, something her father tried to do before his demise. While wishing to see Link once more.
desired interactions:
I would love the usual adventure threads!!!
FRIENDSHIP!! She needs friends, pls!!
ENEMIES!! It’d be fun to write a more angry Zel who doesn’t get along with someone!
ROMANCE!! I’m a sucker for cuteness ;v; and slow burn ;v;
HORROR AU!! HORROR AU!!!
Creepy gothic threads of Zelda running into a creepy cryptid in a gothic castle on a stormy night.... this is very specific but listen, cries...
Comfort thread ;v;
things that bother me:
People who know she’s the princess right off the bat ticks me off ngl. A-ok if you muse is unaware of her otherwise!
PEOPLE WHO KNOW THAT SHE’S FROM A BLOODLINE OF A GODDESS AND SAGES DHSJAKJADB no one really knows that the royal family actually did descend from gods, unless your muse is an immortal and is aware of the events that goes on they shouldn’t know this fact. The only thing the public is aware of is how the royal family have mystical powers different from the population.
uhhhh that’s about it? Mostly metagaming pft, not too much bothers me now that I think about.
tagged by: i pirated it ;v; from myself!
tagging: whomst ever! i recommend doing this since it’ll help a ton with those who still are unsure with your muse but feel too nervous to ask questions.

Forgotten Excerpt
My writer’s block finally lifted! Hooray! Since last Saturday I’ve been spending almost all my free time working on the next chapter, and it would be posted by now if it wasn’t so looong. I was hoping I could finish editing it today, but I might need more time. It’s a lot of content. So here’s an excerpt in the meantime. :D
Edit: Just realized I should have posted something Mother’s Day related today... oops. >_< SOMEDAY I WILL BE ON TOP OF THESE THINGS. T_T
(To give some context, Link, Zelda, and Shayne (though he’s not in this scene) went to visit the forest, and Link is leading her through the Lost Woods.)
----
“How do you know your way around here so well?” Zelda spoke, free to ask such questions in Shayne’s absence.
“I’m immune to the enchantment,” Link answered simply. “Like the Kokiri, I am blessed with the Deku Tree’s protection.”
“And that’s how you know your way around?”
Link gave a quiet laugh. “No. I know these Woods because I explored them as a boy. I discovered many interesting places, and I visited them often.”
Zelda fell quiet, wondering if he had sought refuge away from the village, where he never truly fit in. She had done something similar, back when she explored the castle as a girl.
To think that was nearly twenty years ago, she thought to herself. It feels like yesterday.
“I can understand the lure of exploration,” she told Link. “When I was a child I wanted to discover every inch of the castle.”
“I remember,” he replied, turning to her with a smile. “You showed me many unknown places in the castle. And I returned the favor here.”
Zelda returned his smile, but inside she felt another tug of sadness, a desire to remember the boy with whom she had shared such adventures… the boy she had grown to love.
“We’re here.”
Her thoughts faded as Link led her to the edge of what looked like a deep ravine. Below them lay a massive pool of perfectly clear water, disturbed only by a tall, narrow waterfall. It’s glassy surface seemed to dance in the sunlight which shone through a gap in the trees. The surrounding bank was mostly rock and pebbles, but beyond it lay a bed of lush green grass. Flowers of countless shapes and sizes colored the area, growing in bright patches among the grass, adorning vines, and sprouting from small blossoming trees.
“It’s beautiful,” Zelda breathed, letting Link take her hand as he led her down to the water’s edge.
“We used to come here all the time,” he said as they sat on a moss ridden log. “The water is quite warm, perfect for swimming. And it’s beautiful by night as well—especially a moonlit night. Certain flowers and mushrooms glow in the dark—you can see them everywhere. And when the fireflies gather… it’s quite a sight to behold. If you’re lucky, you might even see a fairy or two pass by.”
A blush warmed Zelda’s face as she realized how very romantic the place was. Just what sort of memories had they shared there? Was that why he had brought her there?
Stop jumping to conclusions, her practical side scolded her. He just wanted to show you a beautiful place.
Zelda tried not to dwell on such thoughts, focusing instead on the soothing rush of the waterfall and the birds singing in the treetops.
“I was quite wrong about this place,” she told Link. “It’s so lovely, even despite its dangerous enchantment, and it feels very peaceful here… It makes the troubles of the world seem small and far away.”
Link nodded, his eyes fixed on the lake. “Yes... it does.” He turned to her then, studying her profile. “So, how do you like my old house?”
Zelda gave a small laugh. “Very charming. But so humble, compared to your life now. Did you ever dream that you would one day become King of Hyrule?”
Link gave a halfhearted laugh of his own. “Certainly not. Though I did often dream about… visiting the castle.”
“You pursued your dream and realized it—to say the least,” Zelda said cheerfully. “Your story is as encouraging as it is extraordinary.”
Link looked away then, noticeably saddened by her words, and immediately she regretted them.
“I’m sorry,” she said gently. “I don’t know enough to say such a thing…”
He waved a dismissive hand. “Don’t worry about it. What else did you two talk about?”
Zelda thought a minute. “She told me how you came into her care, how she raised you… and how you left the forest when you were only ten years old. It’s quite remarkable, but… you were so young to be on your own. Did no one else look after you?”
“I had friends outside of the forest,” Link replied. “People I could go to if I needed them. And I could always come back here. In truth, though, I spent a lot of time with you over the next two years. My education here was rather lacking, to say the least, and you became a sort of tutor to me. We were both quite young, but you’ve always been very intelligent. You taught me a lot—history, language, grammar. We had daily lessons, and I enjoyed them immensely, as did you.
“Eventually, though, I grew restless,” Link admitted, “and I went off to explore the kingdoms beyond Hyrule’s border. My travels taught me a great deal about the world, and I did enjoy them, but… I missed Hyrule. And I missed you,” he added softly.
Zelda dropped her gaze to her hands, feeling her heart flutter with nerves. She tried to remember that Link spoke of the past, and that he wasn’t pressing any feelings upon her, but it flustered her nonetheless.
“I didn’t travel for two years straight,” Link told her. “I came back to Hyrule each spring—to visit you on your birthday. When I was fourteen, I discovered that your betrothed had finally taken an interest in you, and you were quite taken with him. Suddenly I felt… unwanted there. You were always kind to me, but you were engaged. Our friendship had become… inappropriate.”
Zelda recalled their conversation in her chamber the previous night, remembering that her infatuation with her fiance had lasted three years. Had Link pined for her all that time, burdened with unrequited love?
“I was lost again… for a while,” Link’s quiet voice brought her back to the present. “But I didn’t want to leave Hyrule, so I took up work at Lon Lon Ranch. Talon and his daughter were kind and welcoming people, but the work didn’t suit me. There was plenty to do, but… I wanted to be part of something… larger. I needed a new kind of challenge, and I wanted to stay close to the castle—and to you,” he added softly. “So I pursued the only path that made sense to me.”
“To enlist in the army,” Zelda said quietly.
Link nodded. “I was too young, though. I had the skills to be a good soldier, but mentally… I wasn’t ready for the horrors of war.”
A rush of compassion swept through Zelda, and she nearly reached out to touch his shoulder, but then Link turned to give her a sheepish smile.
“Enough about me. I’ve been meaning to ask you—did Saria say anything about… your amnesia?”
Zelda looked away, remembering the anguish in Saria’s face as she begged her to recover her past, to become the Zelda Link knew and loved.
Link watched her closely, noticing her discomfort.
“She made a plea for my sake,” he said. “Didn’t she.”
His voice lacked any inquisitive tone, as he apparently knew the answer. Zelda bowed her head, unsure what to say.
“She… She asked that I try to regain my memories; that’s all.”
Link sighed quietly, but Zelda could not recognize the cause. Embarrassment? Sympathy? Longing?
“That must have been uncomfortable for you,” he said quietly. “I’m sorry. Please don’t hold it against her… She’s only looking out for me.”
“I know,” Zelda said quickly. “Any good mother would do the same, I’m sure—or even a friend... And it was a perfectly reasonable request—”
“Zelda.”
I turned when Link took my hand in both of his, reluctantly meeting his gaze.
“If you do try to regain your memories,” he said, his blue eyes gazing into mine, “then it must be of your own choosing. Don’t do it for my sake, or Saria’s, or anyone else’s. No one can force you to act against your will.”
His words swept through her with strong reassurance, but the feeling soon passed, and the weight in Zelda’s chest remained.
“But surely you want me to remember,” she whispered, looking at him sadly. “More than anything…”
Link studied her a moment, then lowered his gaze and withdrew his hands.
“I can’t say what feelings I have… or will have for the woman you are now,” he admitted slowly, “but I do respect you, and I will respect whatever decision you make—even if it hurts me. As I’ve said before, I ask only that you be a mother to Shayne, and he doesn’t need your memories.”
“I would hate to have you resent me...”
“If I do,” he said softly, meeting her troubled gaze, “then it would be my failing, not yours.”
Zelda gazed back at him, stunned by his selfless words—and his apparent sincerity. She wanted to return his consideration, to assure him that she did not oppose the idea of regaining her memories, but somehow the words stuck in her throat.
“Maybe it was a mistake to bring you here so soon,” Link murmured. “I didn’t mean to overwhelm you.”
“No, I asked to come here. Thank you for sharing this with me... and for being so understanding.”
"Friends do that much for each other,” he replied. “I hope you’ll at least consider me that.”
Zelda smiled. “I certainly don’t consider you an enemy.”
Link gave a short laugh. “Well, that’s a relief. Not the response I hoped for, but I’ll take it.”
Despite his playful tone, Zelda couldn’t help but wonder if she hurt him when she kept her distance in that way. Before she could figure him out, however, Link rose to his feet and offered his hand.
“Come on,” he said. “Let’s head back.”

Breath of the Wild VS Twilight Princess: Open World or Guided Goals?
Open World Action Adventure games. They’re all over the market and there’s likely no chance of them going away. It’s pretty easy to think that these games take no effort, but designing a gigantic map with different landscapes, biomes, towns, and proper enemy spawn locations takes a lot of time, money and manpower to create. And The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of those games that certainly took a lot of time to make. Originally planned for Nintendo’s best dust collecting device, the Wii U, the game was met with a multitude of delays from 2014 to 2017, and even being released onto their newest console, the Nintendo Switch, with Shigeru Miyamoto famously saying “A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is forever bad”. While this quote would later be mocked with the heavily delayed release of Mighty No. 9 later in 2017, Miyamoto was right. Breath of the Wild, despite its delays, was met with universal critical acclaim, winning Game of the Year at the annual Game Awards 2017, and even having a direct sequel announced and in development at E3 2019. But as time went on, as it always does, opinions towards Breath of the Wild started to sour. With people presenting complaints for its barren open world, brittle weapon durability, and complete lack of character from our main protagonist, that people were starting to cast doubt upon whether it was even good in the first place. Now this is nothing new. Game franchises that have been around for decades are likely to have people question the quality of some installments. Just ask Sonic the Hedgehog fans today what they think of Colors compared to Black Knight then when those games came out. But Zelda fans are a bit different. The Zelda franchise has had a set formula for almost about a decade since Ocarina of Time was released in 1998. A simple dungeon full of puzzles to solve, some monsters to deal with, and a special weapon that helps with defeating the boss of said dungeon. It’s a formula that worked for a long time, and only was Breath of the Wild released itself from that cycle its forefathers created. However, while some cycles should be broken, the one that Zelda was in wasn’t really in need of a change. People will say that you often have to change up a series’ gameplay to keep it fresh, but I don’t think that’s true. Call of Duty has been keeping people invested in its games for decades, and it doesn’t change much outside of minor additions, for better and for worse. But the core of the gameplay stays the same. Twilight Princess, in my own humble opinion, was the game that took the most advantages it could with the set Zelda gameplay formula. With the best dungeons in the series, and a story that had a lot more depth than most other entries before and after it. Meanwhile, Breath of the Wild went so far away from the set formula you’d be mistaken for thinking it was a completely different game. So between a massive open world and a set structure of events, which of the two is a better direction for the Hero of Hyrule to go down?
Breath of the Wild has itself set on breaking its formula from the very start. You aren’t a village child or a farmhand; you’re a random dude in his undies waking up from a century long slumber in a water bed, and being given an alien looking smartphone. Complete with a map, camera, and telescope to help you explore this massive world. Even as you enter into the open world, you’re situated atop a plateau, complete with everything you’ll need to learn about how this world works. From weather climate, to resource gathering, to even cooking meals and sneaking past fights you can’t win. It’s quite the departure from what we’ve come to expect. That is, if you’ve only played major Zelda games after 1998. In interviews, the developers said they wanted to go back to the roots of how this series started. With a big world that you don’t really know how it works, but steadily guide you towards what you can do, what you need to do, and how to do things. It certainly has that feel, with the entire intro of the game setting up everything that you’ll be doing in the game. From dealing with enemy camps that hold helpful resources, to climbing towers on loan from one of Ubisoft’s old open world games, to going through Shiekah Shrines to learn the basic abilities your smartphone can use. Such as freezing objects in place, picking up metal boxes, and blowing stuff up with two types of bombs. It’s a lot of stuff to learn that’s steadily leading to you learning more about the state of this version of Hyrule. In this version, Ganon has technically won. The world is in ruins, the people are isolated, there’s monsters running around everywhere, and Zelda is keeping Ganon locked away inside the castle as best she can. It creates a serene, but almost horrifying apocalypse where giant spider bots are roaming the world and blasting people to ashes. It’s quite a daunting adventure ahead, and the gameplay reflects this. Weapons are incredibly brittle, almost as if they haven’t been maintained for a century. Even the most legendary of Royal Guard armaments break after constant use despite looking so expertly constructed. From a narrative perspective, it makes sense. The world is in ruins and you have to find what you can to get an edge against the monsters that roam the world. But from a gameplay perspective, it creates the unfortunate result of collecting a lot of powerful weapons that you will never use because you wanna save them for when you need them. Except you never really will need them because you can run past most enemies in the game and they’ll give up chasing you, especially when fighting enemies into the mid-game doesn’t give you rewards that feel worth it. Oh wow, a shiny rock. I’m glad I used up my Soldier’s Greatsword on those Bokoblins to get it. I’m sure that’ll be worth something to someone. Turns out, it might be, but only to upgrade your armor with pieces of junk you collect from the open world to make yourself tankier. Combat in open world games often has to exist to give the player something to easily do when they start up the game, or create some kind of challenge. But when you can literally go anywhere, even to the final boss right away and fight them with only the weapons you can carry and whatever you found in the castle, it makes the combat in Breath of the Wild not all that worth it. Even when many high skilled players discover new ways of breaking the games physics and mechanics to get themselves some massive combat advantages, it doesn’t really feel satisfying when the rewards aren’t worth it. While its certainly worthy of praise that Nintendo have made an extremely open world with all kinds of directions you can go, it’s not nearly as satisfying to beat a game when the challenge keeps going down and down, and there’s not enough story motivation to get character invested players to keep going. Combat has to have enough of a satisfying reward for players to seek it out. It can be anything from a sense of character progression, to just the satisfying feeling of combat itself. Breath of the Wild struggles with these two things so often simply because combat has no direct changes outside of dodge, flurry attack, repeat, that all those special methods of combat feel like too much effort. Dominant Strategy dictates that players will always use the most effective method of overcoming obstacles in a game, and Breath of the Wild’s Dominant Strategy is basically playing Dark Souls for little kiddies. Stat buff meals and potions don’t mean anything if the combat doesn’t have a satisfying feel to it that makes it worth seeking out, or rewards that encourage facing greater threats.
By contrast, Twilight Princess is so much of a Zelda game it’s dripping with Ocarina of Time’s Happy Ending massage aftermath. The game starts out with Link living in a small rural forest village with his horse, working as a farmhand who herds goats, and even enjoys spending time with the village children, indulging in their praise of his super cool sword and slingshot skills. Twilight Princess does a good job of setting up a status quo. Almost too good of a job. A common criticism of the game is the entire intro before the first dungeon. It goes to great lengths to establish what your home was like before the twilight began to spread, and it even has a few dumb story moments. Like your village crush Ilia taking your horse away because of a minor injury it took from jumping over a fence. Despite Epona not even being her horse. Then there’s Link giving his training sword to a child just to get your horse back. Would’ve been helpful to fight back against those invading Bulbins if I had that glorified stick. Thanks, Talo, you little twerp. All that ends up happening to you and your friends is entirely your fault. The giant wall of Twilight that cuts off the forest? Well, I can’t blame a child for encroaching darkness. That would be too far. However, that same darkness is also where another criticism of this game comes up. “Oh no! Link’s been turned into a furry! Guess this game is responsible for my diaperfur fetish.” Obvious joke against a community that the internet has yet to accept as just another part of itself aside, Wolf Link’s gameplay is not really all that well utilized. It’s fairly simply exploration in an animal form that will be responsible for a number of young folk’s sexual discovery. It has you exploring the segments you’ll later explore as your normal form so that you can get some idea of the state of that region. After getting the Master Sword, the wolf form becomes something that you can use for easy fast travel through the portals you’ve unlocked, and going through areas that would be too difficult for your normal form to travel through. There is, however, one big thing that Wolf Link helps you unlock. Before you enter the first dungeon, you have a run-in with a golden wolf that lunges at you and sends into a foggy void where a Stalfos named Shade teaches you a number of combat abilities. While they appear to be situational to some extent, they do a lot to spice up the combat and give you more available options when fighting monsters. And the only way to get these special combat moves is to find special Triforce Wind Stones around the map where you howl along to old classic songs from the previous Zelda games. With these moves, you’ll have much more combat options when fighting enemies like the Darknut, who acts as the mini-boss of the Temple of Time dungeon, but becomes a common enemy in the final dungeon where they appear in almost every room one after another. It’s a great escalation of challenge while giving the player the skills that they have to find for themselves without making the fights easier, as the Darknuts are tanky fights that you can’t so easily cheese like the toughest of enemies in Breath of the Wild.
Which reminds me. I haven’t actually talked about the dungeons in Breath of the Wild. Though honestly, the dungeons themselves don’t have a lot to talk about. It’s basically running around a giant mech and activating four panels before fighting the boss of it which can be easily cheesed with enough bomb arrows and rushdown attacks. As well as making use of the dungeon’s special environment controls to change one thing about the environment. While it’s likely they made the dungeons all follow the same rhythm to give players the option to explore each dungeon in a different order of their choice, it doesn’t really help these dungeons not feel like a bit of an afterthought compared to the real meat and potatoes of BotW. The Shrines. These suckers are all over Hyrule and each reward you with a Spirit Orb. Said Orb can be used to get either Heart Containers or Stamina Boosts when you give four of them to any Goddess Shrine in the world. These Shrines can have you solving a physics puzzle, going through an obstacle course, solving a memory puzzle, or just straight up fighting an enemy of specific difficulty. While these can be fun little challenges, the major reward you get from them can become extremely predictable and somewhat tiresome. Early game, I was finding shrines to help level up my health so I can better face the enemy, but about halfway through the game I grew tired of doing the shrines because they just weren’t worth it when I already had a lot of health and stamina. Yet if you want to get the classic iconic tunic that Link has always worn without having to search through amiibo scalpers for Legend of Zelda amiibos that give you Links tunic, you have to go through all 120 Shrines to get it. So while you will be jacked as all get out when you get all the shrines and you’ll have a classic tunic for when you fight Calamity Ganon, the final boss fight itself ends up being way easier than most other challenges you’ve faced up to that point, so the effort of leveling yourself up and getting all these big upgrades doesn’t feel like it’s being used against a foe that really deserves the kind of punishment you can dish out.
Despite all my negativities surrounding Breath of the Wild, I do think it’s a good game and an admirable product. The scale of the world is impressive, with so many moments when I just stopped moving and took in all the beautiful scenery. It’s a good game and a good Zelda game. I just feel that the difficulty balance, the lack of protagonist characterization, and very basic dungeon design keep it from being my favorite of the series. As for Twilight Princess, it will always be my personal favorite of the franchise. From its characters, to its dungeons, to its sword combat, to just the whole experience as a whole, it’s what I immediately think of when I think of Legend of Zelda. And if you feel the same way about Breath of the Wild, I think that’s great. I just wanted to share what personal issues I had with BotW now that it’s been three years since it came out.

“Breath Of The Wild. Hypothetically Speaking.” Part 2
So in Chapter 1 (The Foreword to this entire theory). I put the hypothesis out there the Breath Of The Wild happens Before During and after Twilight Princess. Chapter 2 is the first reason behind this bold statement. Link’s very sensible backstory leading up to Breath Of The Wild.
Firstly i can’t be the only one seeing a similarity between Oot Link and BOTW Link? Same blue eyes, Same blue earrings, same facial features as young link to an extent, and same “sideburns” that every other Link before him has had to some extent, these are general characteristis for Link ill give you that. but i look at him and i keep thinking this has to be the Hero of time that is closing in on the same age he was when he defeated Ganon, or maybe a year or two older. Even Zelda in this game looks a lot like the Oot Version. At least when comparing young Zelda to the BOTW incarnation.
Ill get back to Link a little later on.
youtube
Here’s what HMK brought up. In his video, HMK begged the question “Is Zelda Pregnant in BoTW?” if you look at the cover art for Game Informers next release, or the Switch Release trailer for the game, you’ll see Zelda in a white dress, where the area below the belt that keeps the dress up looks to be... well it looks reminiscent of a woman in the late stages of the 1st trimester (Don’t ask me what that means i just recite what i saw in the video)
This had me thinking that If there is a pregnancy, it will tie in to the story of Zelda in a major way.
i’ve always been curious about how we know nothing about Link’s close family. He has never had a parent connected to his story apart from an honourable mention of his mother in Ocarina of Time.... Developers claim this is that you can immerse yourself as a person into the character, as opposed to being immersed into the story of the character. but everyone has a heritage, everyone has two parents biologically wether this fact is hidden or not including Link.
One of the big kickers to my theory. The sentence uttered by the Heros shade to the Hero of Twilight after teaching him the last hidden skill, “Go and do not falter, my child!” “Why would the Hero’s Shade utter this sentence to the Hero of Twilight?” (skip to 14:55 to see the sentence)
youtube
The Hero’s Shade is confirmed to be the Hero Of Time.
Whose adventures through time were never remembered as a result of him traveling back in time after defeating Ganon. Once Ocarina of Time concludes, He is sent away from Hyrule with the Ocarina of Time in hand. So that he can try and find Navi, (Why anyone would want to find her eludes me) but also to keep the key to the Sacred Realm as far away from Hyrule as possible. At least until Ganondorf is executed.

Here the Events of Majoras Mask begin. Where in a flashback early in this game. Zelda says “Though it was only a short time, it feels like i have known you forever. I’ll never forget the days we spent together in Hyrule... And i believe in my heart that a day will come when i shall meet you again...” Stating she cherished her time with Link even at her young age, and speaking from personal expirience, I for one rarely mention to a “friend” or “acquintance” what i believe in my heart unless i want said person to have be a more special part of my life.

While Link is off on his epic quest to find Miss Hey, Look, Listen. Back in Hyrule, The Execution of Ganondorf Failed.
And he was instead sent to the Twilight Realm. Though this was never public knowledge! The Sages had sent the demonic thief there in panic after the “Divine prank” that saw Ganondorf with the Triforce of Power, survive his execution and kill one of the sages. According to page 118 of Hyrule Historia. The existence of a counterpart to Hyrule was not something people knew beforehand and it caused a divide within the people. further backing up that the Twilight realms existence was not common knowledge.
In good faith that Ganondorf indeed was dealt with. Link would be free to return to Hyrule Many years later. He had grown up and was declared a champion of Hyrule by Zeldas Authority. Accepting his life as the hero. Though the escapades he earned the title from were still largely unknown to everyone except Zelda and the Sheikah.
In the years he was gone from Hyrule, Link has learned and perfected all the skills needed to survive alone a long way from home for many years. Skills he even now at his relatively young age, feels a certain regret he will never be able to teach to the next generation. Not because he can´t but because to the people he is seen as just a champion with no accolades, not a real hero, and his skills and teachings are not taken seriously. He COULD say he was the one that told the Royal Family the plans of Ganondorf, but wheres the heroism in that? wheres the valiant effort? He is just a messenger in the eyes of the public.
Making sense of his second to last sentence in TP “Although I accepted life as the hero, I could not convey the lessons of that life to those who came after. At last, I have eased my regrets. . . . Farewell!"
“Im still not convinced this is the Hero of time”
Moving on.
Now of a more mature age, There was no timeskip of 7 years needed for Link to reclaim the Master Sword. He still possesses all the keys to gain access to the weapon and had wielded it previously. No reason that should be of harm to anyone... right?
Granted Link was not the Chosen Hero anymore. He could claim the weapon, but not being recognized by the Master Sword as the Hero meant he would not possess the blades full power. Which would explain why the blade is all 50 shades of fucked up in the logo for the game, and seen in horrid condition in trailers and such.
Tumblr media
(Digression: Just a nod or concrete? In this Image. Link is gravely injured, holding the Master Sword in his right hand, and has his right eye closed. eerily similar to the state of the Hero’s Shade whose right eye is gone and wields a blade in his right hand.)
Link is put in a position where he is close to Zelda at all times, a guardian if you will. Emotions run high between the two.
The two form a close relationship, one thing leads to another, and boom. Zelda is pregnant. Because lets face it, Who else in Hyrule at the time of OOT would she have become a husband or father to her descendants? Ingo? Dampé? No.
”descendants, plurral? as in multiple??”
Yes. Carry on reading.
As is fairly common with royalty though. Zelda wasn’t supposed to carry the children of a “commoner”, and outside of marriage nonetheless. Therefore this had a to be kept secret. Who keeps the secrets of the Royal Family? The Sheikah. This created an internal split in the faction, a portion voting for this atrocity to be dealt with, and a portion sticking to their guns and saying “No, this is a secret that we as Sheikah have sworn to protect”
This would be a most interesting catalyst to a couple of events. First one being the appearence of apparent Sheikah defectors, made visible by wearing masks where the Sheikah Eye is turned upside down. These are the ones who meant Zeldas pregnancy was an atrocity to the kingdom. They left the tribe and scattered across the land.
Perhaps this was even the catalyst to how Ganons sudden attack became that much more devastating?
More on that in Part 3: http://kingseyes.tumblr.com/post/157737860051/breath-of-the-wild-hypothetically-speaking-part
