If Roll getting upgraded is called “Roll Z”, and (in 1 timeline) Rock getting upgraded is “Mega Man X”, in the timeline where Blues gets upgraded too (you briefly mentioned it in the Roll Z lore) is he “Blues Y”?
Y'know, I've been thinking about that myself.
"Rock X," "Blues Y," and "Roll Z" certainly have a good ring to them, don't they?
But then, my friend and I talked about a scenario that could happen with Blues in the timeline I mentioned, where Rock is upgraded by light.
So Mega Man and Roll would be very much in the history books, considering everything they've done. It wouldn't be too far-fetched for someone to notice the similarities between the two maverick hunters and the heroes of the past and do some research... very dangerous if said person was a bad guy.
That's where the idea my friend had comes in.
So the bad guy (Sigma probably, because it's ALWAYS Sigma) finds the original Blues and rebuilds and reprograms him to be an enemy.
That would REALLY mess with Rock and Roll's heads.
An alternate idea I came up with was Rock or Roll finding Blues and asking Dr Cain to fix him, and Blues ends up taking the role of Axl.
Now, I know I said that the robot masters were likely preserved in a museum, but that unfortunately isn't the only possibility. Considering Blues is the more "feral" out the three, and Roll even said there's an unspoken rule not to mess with Blues, the government, or whoever was in charge of deactivating the robots, might somehow take that in the wrong way? Instead of preserving him like the others, they may disassemble or even destroy him instead. It's a tragic possibility that, sadly, these two ideas hinges on.
Although, if Blues WAS preserved, Sigma or whoever the bad guy is could just break in and steal him. Rock and Roll wouldn't do that, though, no matter how much they miss their little brother. Laws and everything.
That doesn't mean that "evil" Blues Y can't be fixed and turned to good again by Dr Cain, though. One can only hope!

Whenever I think back to the very obvious fact in canon Ryoma basically becomes one with a god machine in most of the canons he’s in, it’s probably not a shock that while I would’ve never saw this coming, that a character I like experiences such a weird fate given the fucks I was obsessed with prior to him turned into THESE:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not even mad about this btw even if it’s weird but wondering if Ryoma’s case is better or worse then being a floating toku device lmao.

Underrated Mega Man Charater #4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay with this one Aile is beloved by the community but for... other reasons than the ones that make her so great in my eyes.
If your doing a Run on Mega Man ZX there is no reason to pick vent over aile if you want to experience the story, Aile's plot is focused on the Charaters and what it means to be a Mega man and the fact she was left alive during the raid was not just destiny but actively plotted out by the mavericks.
Her story is more in-depth and contains multiple Interesting reveals and twist on the lore that just aren't present in Vent's Campaign. While not the best story in the series I feel like it's more enjoyable and far more engaging as Aile.
The pilot's focus on Destiny and Aile's potential for Both good and evil make the Story Actually interesting as oppose to the vengeance arc of Vent.

What is the “Roll Z” outfit about?
Oh-ho-ho! I have been waiting for someone to ask about that.
See, about a month ago, a friend of mine showed me this video by man on the internet.
Listening to it, I couldn't help but picture Roll in place of Zero, and thus, I drew up this:
Tumblr media
Now, I don't have a solid nor canon X timeline just yet because there's several ways it could go.
Please also keep in mind that I have never played the X games, so if I get anything wrong, I'm sorry!
All the timeline ideas start at the end of the golden age of robotics. Robot masters have been made illegal because of all of Wily's attacks, and so they're ordered by the government to (unfortunately) be deactivated. Including the light children. Light and Wily both end up going into hiding.
Roll, of course, did not agree with this and ran. But, she somehow gets damaged in the process. (The scenario I imagine the most is a building collapsing on top of her.)
This is where the timeline splits.
Timeline idea one:
The first idea I had has Wily finding Roll after she's damaged and decides to use her to get the final one up on Light.
He upgrades her to be the Z look, and much like with Zero, he implants the maverick virus into the gem on her helmet and seals her away, making her an unwitting pawn in his final plan.
Wily did not do anything to make her loyal to him because he knew it wouldn't work. He also knows the virus will likely not affect her either because of her sentience. (which is probably dumb in hindsight because she was affected by roboenza. Maybe the cure made her immune? Idk)
Light, in the meantime, is working on creating X (the timeline also splits here, but I'll get to that later) and passes away while X is in containment doing the final checks, as per the normal x timeline.
Now... Whether or not X is found before Roll is up for debate (as i said, i never played the X games), all I know is Dr Cain still finds X, and Sigma finds Roll.
Roll is initially hesitant to trust Sigma, even fighting him at first, but she is convinced to stop, and she does end up joining and becoming one of the top maverick hunters.
That'd be where Roll meets X...
Tumblr media
The timeline will most likely go on like the games from there.
Timeline idea two:
Much like timeline one, Wily finds and upgrades Roll. But unlike timeline one, Wily has a change of heart, not wanting his legacy to only be destructive.
In this timeline, Zero DOES exist, but he is unfinished, and the maverick virus is in him instead of Roll.
Everything else is like timeline one, except Roll may end up finding Zero at some point.
Dunno what she'd do. Maybe if she had a dream sequence like Zero did in one of the games of Wily telling her to "fix his mistakes," she'd destroy him or something.
Timeline Idea three:
This timeline can be a variation of one or two interchangeably because the change here is involving Light, and is actually somewhat based on an AU my friend has.
In this timeline, Light ends up taking Rock with him into hiding and upgrades him instead of building X.
Everything else carries on like timelines one or two up until "Rock X" ends up meeting "Roll Z"...
Tumblr media
After that, everything would carry on the same.
Timeline idea four:
This last idea is something I got from this video of a protoman rom hack for Mega Man X 1
This time, instead of Wily finding Roll, It's light who finds her and upgrades her, which would include fixing her core because ley me just sat this now,
Because Dr Light is the one who made Roll's experimental core, only HE can fix it since he's the only one who knows how it works. That doesn't mean it can't be maintained by others, though.
This means that in the other timelines, Roll likely still has that issue with her core.
This also means that Zero exists, too, but this time is fully completed. Although honestly, I imagine that Zero is built to be a girl in these timelines because I read somewhere that Zero was based on Protoman, and since he'd technically be based on Roll in this timeline...
I'm not sure what the dynamic between Roll and Zero would be to be perfectly honest. Neither of them would know about Zero being built by wily unless Zero tells Roll about that dream sequence.
Then again, he apparently asked light about it, and Light claimed he didn't know so... that's up in the air I guess.
There are several more possibilities I haven't covered here, like if Blues was taken to be upgraded by Light or if Roll wasn't found by anyone. But the four I talked about are the ones I think about most.
As I said, I don't know which one is the "canon" timeline for the AU. Buuut I think I should mention this-
When the robot masters are deactivated, I personally think that they were all preserved in a museum somewhere. It'd be such a shame otherwise. Plus, it means that, one day, Roll would be able to see Rock and Blues in some form.
Despite the rough patches in their history, Roll loves her brothers and would very much miss them.
I'll probably end up drawing more of Proto!Roll Z eventually.
For now, enjoy this little bit of dialogue I imagine being shared between X and Roll
Tumblr media
X: "So, you were the first of the Robot masters?"
Roll: "I was the prototype, yes."
X: "You were made by Dr Light too?"
Roll: "Mhmm.."
X: "That would make you my sister, right?"
Roll: "...huh. yeah, I guess it would."

Mega Man S: Chapter 14
Intangible
Summary: In which Sora and Namine -almost- reunite. Word Count: 1,957 First | Previous | Next ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆
In all said and done, Juno ended up being the one to escort Sora to Area A. Model X was carefully tucked in her pocket to join along for extra moral support. Or maybe more so to keep the two in line. They quite happily chatted as they got onto the transerver and for some of the walk. If you wouldn’t have known better, you would have thought that there were two good friends catching up after a long week apart.
“Hey Juno,” Sora asked after at least five other ‘hey, Juno’s before then, “What were Aile and Vent like when they were younger?”
“Oh boy!” Juno laughed. “Do I have stories to tell you! There’s so many, I don't even know where to start.”
Sora gave a laugh of his own. He liked seeing her happy.
“Which one was the most memorable?” he asked.
“Oh that’s easy! Well, it’s more of a series of events, but I'll never forget it. But Aile and Vent, before they hit 5 or so, they used to be able to leech information off each other. Or it seemed like it, at least.”
This information caused Sora to pause. Leech information off each other? How did that work?
“What do you mean?” he wondered.
Juno thought it over for a bit, trying to find a good example for her technologically illiterate friend.
“Aile loved learning about stuff, but Vent got bored of pretty much everything rather easily.” she told him. “But wouldn’t you know, even if he wasn’t in the same room as her, Vent would know just about everything Aile did. How big’s the earth? What does Orion look like? Did Reploids in the really old times have Cyber-Elves too, or is it something only Reploids now can do? It was insane!”
‘It wasn’t that bad.’ Model X objected. ‘There were things Vent would know that Aile didn’t, and vice versa.’
“Not much.” Juno pointed out. “I think you’re just focusing on the soft stuff, you softie. You don’t have much of a concept of what’s creepy or not outside of bad vibes. No offense.”
‘None taken.’
Sora grinned. He then absently placed a hand over his heart as he thought about Roxas.
“I’ve had other hearts inside of mine.” the boy wondered. “I wonder if I learned anything off of them too.”
‘It’s possible.’ Model X agreed. ‘We’re always learning new things from the hearts that touch ours. In a way, it’s what makes us human.’
“So says the metal rock.” Juno snorted. They all went into a small laughter at that.
When they settled down, Sora and Juno continued with idle chatter to help pass the time. Some of their talks had to go on hold as they got to the highest point in Area A. The terrain steeped a bit, making it essential that they focused on where they were going. Once they got to the top of the hill, they all took a deep breath in. It took Sora a slow second to realize that this was where he had landed when he first arrived. The view was exactly how he remembered it. If anything, it was more beautiful.
“I’ve always wanted to have a picnic here.” Juno mused. “Sure, there’s a lot of Mavericks to get around, but this is probably one of the prettiest spots in the country.”
‘It does have a different feeling to it, doesn’t it?’ Model X sighed.
“It’s like being at the top of the world.” Sora agreed. After this, they all let out a collective sigh of thought.
‘Alright,’ Model X declared, ‘Do you still have the letter, Sora?’
“Yep!” the boy affirmed as he pulled it out of his pocket.
‘Good. Now, do your thing.’
Sora gave a firm nod. Carefully, lovingly, Sora placed the letter on the ground- making sure it was in a place where it wouldn’t easily blow away. He stepped a bit away before preparing his Keyblade. The familiar weapon started to glow at its tip, the letter slowly rising off the ground as Sora raised the Keyblade itself. A flash of light from the Keyblade connected to the letter once they were level with each other. The letter slowly started to dissolve into brilliant dust-like particles. Those particles danced in the wind for a moment before taking on a new shape. A keyhole.
Sora put down the Keyblade when the light connecting the weapon to the letter dissipated. The keyhole in front of them was semi-transparent, and slightly shimmered in the light. It almost gave the impression that it wasn’t truly there. Nothing more than a small trick of light. The unfortunate thing was that no one knew if it was supposed to look like that.
“Good job, Sora.” a soft, tender voice congratulated. Then, at the keyhole, a new figure started to appear. Juno make a preemptive reach for her buster, but didn’t pull it out.
The figure started to take the form of a human girl. Part of her light blonde hair rested on her shoulder, while the rest hung behind her. Her light blue eyes politely looked at Sora as her hands were knit inside each other. She looked rather timid, shuffling a bit in place. Her white dress shuffled a bit with her.
“Namine!” Sora happily exclaimed before going to hug his friend. It was a horrible shock as he fell over himself- his body phasing through hers. Juno was quick to help Sora back to his feet. His pride was more wounded than his body. Namine gave him a sympathetic smile. She had missed him a lot too, but already knew that she wouldn’t be fully tangible to him. Over-1 had warned her of that much.
“Are you alright?” she asked with genuine apology.
“Yeah…” Sora sighed. Then he looked up at his friend with a new sense of determination. Perhaps sounding a bit too accusatory, he proceeded to ask her, “What are you doing in this world? Or.. half here, since I can’t hug you.”
Namine laughed a little at his expense.
“I’m here to relay a message.” she explained. “About why you’re here.”
Both Sora and Juno recoiled a little at the news. If you were paying close enough attention, you could even feel Model X reel back as well. Namine took it as permission to continue.
“You may not remember,” Namine started, “But you were in the Lanes Between. A rather odd anomaly appeared and, despite Chip and Dale’s wishes, you left the Gummiship to investigate it. The anomaly quickly swallowed you whole, and we thought you were lost for good.”
“But I didn’t.” Sora quickly interjected. “I got sent here.”
Namine nodded. “Not long after, a Reploid named Over-1 approached me and said that he had a way to bring you back home. I… don’t know all of Over-1’s story, but he doesn’t seem like a bad person. Together we’ve been working on a way to get you back home. Using the letter to open up a gateway was the first big step in this. But the pathway isn’t open yet. We need another important object from our world to help establish the link.”
“Gotcha.” Sora nodded. Then he realized something that came out in a sudden, “Wait! Was it you two that brought the paopu fruit over?”
Namine nodded. That was when Sora let out a sheepish laugh, absently rubbing the back of his neck.
“I guess if I had used that instead, we’d be closer to coming home. Huh?”
“Yes and no.” Namine told him. “Over-1 was a bit frustrated, but I knew you would have followed your heart, regardless.”
Sora shot her a beaming grin as Juno thought something over.
“I’ve never tasted anything so sweet.” she said. “I can see why it’s an important part of your world.”
Namine turned to Juno, and gave her a light smile. Juno returned it with a bright grin of her own.
“Guess this is just one more thing I gotta thank you for.” Sora decided before giving his nose a playful brush.
“I guess so.” Namine agreed with a light laugh. She then turned to Juno, giving her a nod of appreciation. “Thank you for all that you and Girouette are doing to keep Sora safe. It means a lot to me. To all of us.”
A blush found its way onto Juno’s face; one that fit quite well with the wide grin she was giving.
“It’s not a problem” the young woman insisted. “I’d never have the heart to just let Vent or Aile wander alone, so what’s another rambunctious kid?”
“Hey!” Sora huffed before going into a bright laughter. The rest soon joined him. The joy of being together echoed through the otherwise quiet forest.
After awhile, Namine had to stop them.
“It’s time for me to go back to Over-1.” she said to Sora and Juno. Her form was also starting to fade in and out as she said this. “We’ll do what we can to send the next part of our world to this one. In the mean time, don’t get into too much trouble. Okay?”
“I’ll keep him in line.” Juno decided with a grin, throwing a hand about Sora’s shoulders, knocking his balance off for a moment. “We all will.”
“Good.” Namine happily replied just as her form disappeared altogether. All that remained was the faintly shimmering keyhole, and a quiet forest.
Juno was the first to talk.
“I’ll contact Prairie to see if we can’t get some security coverage in this area.”  she said, already putting a hand on her headset. “Maybe even see if they can’t keep a closer eye on energy anomalies that may occur. You’ll be home in no time, Sora.”
“Right.” he agreed with a nod. He grinned as he looked from her and back out to the main city’s skyline. For a moment he thought ‘I’m glad to call this place home,’ and not once considered correcting himself.
. . .
Prairie was a different person when she was leading her troops. Sora could only watch in mild bewilderment as she went around.
“Thon, we need the barrier closer to the keyhole or else it’ll lose its connection to the charge station.” she barked at one Guardian. At another she demanded, “Congre, stop jumping at every bird chirp and bring those spark rods to Maquereau. Sometime today would be wonderful.”
“How are you two doing?” Girouette’s soft voice asked. Sora turned to see that the Reploid was coming toward them. He was merged with Model Z at this point. It was mostly so he could give the Guardians some extra strength, if they needed it, but also because he tried to keep some amount of secrecy to his true identity. The only ones who really knew he was Girouette was the commander, Fleuve, and the Guardian’s nurses.
“The energy around here feels different now.” Juno said first. “Can you feel it?”
‘Yes.’ Model Z replied before anyone else could speak.
“Is it agitating Model O?” Girouette asked, a distressed frown pressing onto his lips. When Juno shook her head, the Reploid let out a sigh of relief.
“I can hear the ocean.” Sora quietly said. “Just like the ones at home.”
Giro and Juno looked toward the boy. His gaze had shifted to the keyhole and he was now staring at it with a certain longing in his eyes. It was almost like he was saying goodbye.
“You’ll be home soon enough.” Girouette assured him.
Sora slowly turned his head to face the Reploid. The corners of his mouth twitched a bit as he ran through his thoughts. In a small, unsure voice, he asked, “What if I don’t want to?”
