"-For today's top news story, the strange asteroid that entered the solar system last week is behaving against expectations for a body that size, says leading AMAKEN scientists. The massive chunk of rock and ice, estimated to be the size of Creamland, has been orbiting Neptune for four days now, and has begun moving further into the solar system.“
AMAKEN is calling this asteroid DUO, and Warrock knows more than he lets on, once again. It’s been five years since Subaru has had to play the role of Rockman, but when he’s invited to become allies with a strange boy who knows too much, he’s dragged down a rabbit hole of government conspiracy, apocalyptic cover-ups, and the death of Doctor Hikari Netto.”
My fix is up!!! Just chapter 1 for now, am writing chapter 2 as we speak

[MMX] Future Me Hates Me: Part 1
Summary: After stumbling upon a Light Capsule, and having it erroneously refer to her as Kalinka, Aero seeks to figure out just what her family connection is to Doctor Light. Meanwhile, after the death of Iris, Zero vows to absolve himself of his past. However, as Aero becomes the target of a Maverick, Zero is forced into finding that not all bridges can easily be burned…
Rating: K+
word Count: 1,691 words

. . . .
He could smell fire and the scorched steel of dismembered Reploid parts. This was Hell. The landscape below him was a blurry mess of fire and smoke. No one could have made it out of this carnage alive. Reploids would have fallen from the force of the attack, the humans would have choked on the fumes alone. In the farthest distance he could still hear them. Their pain, their agony, their wishes to simply die a swift death. He could make that all come true. His buster was already gaining energy again despite the last blast being seconds prior. What could possibly stop him?
This was his destiny.
“I thought you were stronger than this.”
He turned around, demanding to know who would insult his strength. All functions nearly stopped processing when he realized she was there. Charming, as always, her smile held no shame for the damage he’s done so far. Her green eyes looked a bit sad, however.
“How dare you mock me!” he demanded, pointing his charged buster right for her face. She didn’t flinch. She didn’t even look worried.
“We both know I could never.” she dully laughed. She then looked at him and placed her hand right on his buster. “And you know that wasn’t what I meant, Zero. You’re more than your fate. Always were. Keep fighting a bit longer, for both of us. That was why I left our world in your hands.”
“Iris…”
She was right. She was always right. And now she was gone- dead by his own hands. He would never meet someone like her again. Ever.
Iris gave him a small smile as she ventured closer to him. The kiss she pressed against his forehead dispelled any and all thoughts of hurt.
“Wake up Zero.” she beckoned. “Wake. Up.”
Zero’s eyes snapped open immediately.
He was in his room at Maverick Hunters HQ, apparently failing at going into sleep mode. The red Hunter carefully sat his body up as he recalled his dream. He rubbed his fingers against his temples.
“It hasn’t even been a month yet…” he groaned to himself. “I thought Reploids weren’t supposed to dream. Tch.”
A small deep coming from Zero’s headset further brought him back to reality. Giving a traceback indicated it was coming from one of the Maverick Hunter’s Navigators. Zero placed a hand against his helmet’s headset, allowing the call to go through.
“Zero here. Talk to me.”
“I’m sorry to interrupt your day off, Zero,” the Navigator on the other end said, “But there is Maverick activity on the southern coast, and it was recommended that you look into it.”
“I’ll be in the briefing room soon, then.”
“Excellent. Thank you Zero.”
Zero grimaced as he disconnected the line.
“I’m starting to see why X thinks being a Hunter is exhausting.,” he hissed under his breath as he left his room. “Humans should be grateful that they never have to go through this like Reploids do.”
. . .
‘I think I’d rather be a Reploid right now.’
Aero was mentally exhausted. She had already been dreading this excavation project for the last three months. Everyone involved even knew she understood precious little of what they were looking for. It was all in honor of Dr Cain, they said, to give his legacy something good to reflect on.
Finding X should have been where Cain's legacy started and ended. It was the only piece of history to carry on for all Aero cared. At this point, hardly anyone remembered that Sigma was built by Cain to begin with. The atrocities the Reploid made outweighed why he existed to begin with. That was why being a Reploid instead of human sounded a lot more appealing to the young woman. Reploids generally didn’t have families. They didn’t have to carry on someone else’s legacy.
“This looks like a good spot to stop for the day.” the team leader, a Reploid, decided.
Aero gave a glance around the area. It was at the foot of a very tall cliff face. Orange-brown and weathered to the point of being too smooth to scale safely, Aero knew full well that they would have to move around the structure instead of straight up. Not that she was joining this expedition for long. They just needed her to take a few photos for various news outlets, and then she was home free. Her interests lied with software and programming, not… rock climbing.
The team she was with were pretty nice folks, though. There was the team leader, two other Reploids, and then a human that wasn’t Aero herself. It was the Reploids that Aero got along with better. The other human, a researcher, decided that Aero was beneath them the moment she walked in the room. The Reploids had greeted her with warmth. One -a cartographer- knew of Cain and wanted to extend their awestruck wonder at someone related to someone famous. The other -a tour guide of the area- was more interested in Aero herself. They knew she was related to Mikhail Cossack, and that threw Aero for a loop. It had been a long time since anyone had made that connection.
As the group settled down for the day, Aero’s mind drifted to the legacies around her. Most of all, she wondered if she cared if she would have one someday. Death didn’t concern Aero. There were times not long ago that she wished for it. But thinking on the idea of a legacy was what kept her awake. It took an hour after everyone else was asleep, but she couldn’t handle it. Aero left her tent and started to pace around camp.
Pacing, apparently, did not help much.
Aero’s feet slowly started to take her further and further away from the camp. She didn’t consider that she forget to bring a light with her until after the camp was all but a speck of light away. By then, there was a different light. An odd glow that came from deeper inside the cavern network.
“Anything’s better than hearing myself think…” Aero mumbled to herself before going deeper.
Her refusal to back down -or rather, to self-harm- was rewarded about seven minutes after. The glow led her to a large, open area in the caverns. Placed in the center was a metal object, primarily blue with a red power crystal at the top and four white electrodes along the side. Moving closer to it, Aero came to realize that it was wide enough for a regular Reploid to fit into quite easily. Once she was within arm’s reach of the object, the top started to float in the air. A holographic green seemed to act as walls to what apparently was a capsule instead. From that green wall came the image of a man, someone Aero was sure she recognized from somewhere. She didn’t have to time to gather from where before it started to talk.
“Kalinka, I do not know the circumstances of how you came across this capsule. The fact that you have must mean that X is in trouble. Enter this capsule and take these torso parts. X can use them to further null the damage he takes from close range attacks.”
With that, the hologram of the man disappeared, but the green walls remained up, beckoning her inside with a faint, pleasant glow. It was in that soft warmth that she realized something.
“Kalinka?” she murmured. “That’s… Isn’t that the name of Gran’s mom? There’s no way…”
No one remembered that the Cossack blood faintly flowed through Aero.  The tour guide had been the first in years- possibly even since Reploids became mainstream. No one remembered, except for this capsule. Aero took a step back as she looked over the capsule’s construction some more. It definitely wasn’t anything from this century. Aero soon found herself at an impasse.
“Does X really need these?” she proceeded to muse to herself. “It’s not like we’re actively fighting some maroon who thinks he’s a god…”
‘Not until someone brings Sigma back… again.’ she thought. It was very soon shaken away. Instead, she returned her attention to the capsule. Whatever hologram AI inside certainly wasn’t forcing her to make a choice. If anything, it gave off the aura of a gentle nudge.
“Do I even want to carry, and later explain, how I found torso parts perfectly X sized in a single night?” Aero then asked. The capsule certainly didn’t give any answers- as if calculating the improbability of this situation was within its limits. It was in that thought that Aer came to a conclusion.
“I’ll tell the Hunters about it when I get home. They can contact X faster than I could anyway.”
“If that is what you wish…” the capsule’s hologram voice agreed. The top of the capsule then slid down again, locking in whatever this torso part was until X came along. It still let off its soft glow, but it certainly wasn’t going to open for Aero again.
“I think it’s time to go to bed now,” Aero said to herself, not wasting a moment longer to head back to camp.
. .
The human did not know she had been followed. For too long they have been searching for the Light capsule, and that stupid human found it by wandering like an ingrate! And then to refuse the power within? Worthless. Distasteful. It was a pure and utter disgrace to anyone like them that actively sought them out.
However, the possibility that the capsules could open for someone who wasn’t Mega Man X was fascinating. Remembering that many of the early inventors for what would become Reploids (Light, Wily, Cossack, and so on) were ill documented, or the bloodlines simply ceased to exist made things harder once more. But, perhaps, they should keep an eye on this one human. Her blood history must have had some connection to Light if the capsule responded to her. She could be useful. An unknowing little pawn.
They smiled as they slunk into the shadows once more. Ultimate power would be theirs, sooner or later.

Mega Man S: Chapter 20 (Bonus)
En-Trace ~ Save & Load
Summary: In another world, Sora makes a choice. Word Count: 2,037 First | Previous ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆
“Tut, tut. Looks like rain.” Strelitzia announced after flinging the curtains open. Not a moment after a grin stretched across her face. She rather liked that phrase, however unsure she was of how she first heard it. But the grin fell when she looked up at the sky again. The clouds above were starting to hang a bit lower and some were already a sickly grey color. Their day out might only be for a few hours if it started raining soon.
A rather loud snore brought Strelitzia out of her thoughts. She turned her attention to the couch where Sora was laying. The young adult was fast asleep- and apparently not even in a good dream this time.
“We should really have you checked for chronic fatigue…” she mused, mostly to herself. Then she thought about it some more, eventually shaking her head. “No. Maladaptive daydreaming. That’s what it is. I think?”
Strelitzia gave herself a thoughtful hum as she returned her attention to Sora. He generally was a pretty sound sleeper. Days when he would immediately zonk out after hitting the couch were actually pretty rare. Something must have been bugging him.
Letting out a thoughtful hum, Strelitzia walked over to the couch. She was quick to notice that part of a throw blanket was laying against the back of it. The rest, she soon discovered, was under Sora himself. Strelitzia cocked an eyebrow as a rather rude thought came to her. At the same time, it would also be a pretty funny prank. She usually didn’t do them- a lot were designed to be flat out mean instead of amusing.
But this?
This was going to be an exception.
Strelitzia hummed an innocent tune as she walked behind the couch. Taking the throw blanket with both hands, she gave a rather masterful tug upwards that sent Sora flying to the ground. It was the surprise fling that woke him up.
“I’m up! I’m up!” he declared as he picked his sorry self off the floor. A wave of surprise hit him when he realized Strelitzia had been the one to knock him out of his daydreaming.
“Sora, you hopeless sleepyhead,” Strelitzia laughed. “We were going to spend the day out today, remember? We need to leave soon before the rain comes.”
“It was going to rain today?”
Strelitzia raised an eyebrow at him.
“I don’t keep up with the weather around here!” Sora then said. “It’s not my fault that it’s so unpredictable!”
At this, Strelitzia just shook her head at him- a small grin teased onto her lips.
. . .
The muggy air outside almost made Sora fall back asleep. It definitely wanted to rain, alright. There was no way it wasn’t going to be a large storm too.
“I should have packed a different umbrella.” Strelitzia said, more to herself than Sora. “This is the one with the broken spoke…”
“We won’t need it.” Sora told her with a lazy wave of his hand. At this, Strelitzia gave him a confused glance.
“What if it starts raining?”
“We’ll go under those tents.”
“What-?” Strelitzia started to ask before also noticing the pop-up tents. Her realization came out as a surprised, “Oh! They’re having a pop-up sale today.”
“Pop-up sale?” Sora wondered, giving her a curious head tilt. Strelitzia nodded in agreement before taking his hand.
He hadn’t been aware of how much noise the people under the tents were making at first. It didn’t take long to understand what Strelitzia had meant. There were a lot of vendors underneath the tents; each calling out their wares in a confusing cacophony with the others.
One of the first salespeople Sora noticed was dressed in some kind of discount cosplay. She wore a short blue costume wig that had a side ponytail on the right side of her head. The uniform she wore was mostly white- the top part having an orange piece that looked like a tie, and the bottom part boasting an open half skirt with short shorts underneath.
In a bright voice, she shouted out, “Only at GameGo- Celebrate 20 years of Rockman Zero by saving 30 percent on the original game and its sequels! All other Rockman games are 15 percent off as well! Get ‘em while they last, folks!”
By instinct, Sora inched closer to Strelitzia. This world did not need much effort to be very overwhelming. He still wasn’t used to it. Suffice to say he jumped a solid foot in the air when Strelitzia let out a noise of surprise was an understatement.
“Oh! They have some umbrellas!” she realized. “I’ll be right back.”
She didn’t give him enough time to actually answer before going on ahead. As much as he would have followed her, that cosplay salesperson was proving to be even more distracting.
“Complete your collection with over 35 years of gaming history! Save even more when you buy the Legacy collections! Multiple games in one convenient package!”
Sora cocked an eyebrow at the salesperson before noticing something on their vendor table. It was a small thin box, almost unassuming. Sora blinked once, then twice. His body started to move toward the small box on its own.
A game.
It was one of the games for sale.
Why did it look so familiar? Curious, Sora picked up the box to look over the front art closer.
The cover was presented like a triptych. In the center was a young person donning red armor with a matching, pointed helmet. They held some weapon that resembled a sword, the blade of which being mostly transparent. In the left panel were two kids, both green eyed, brown haired, and wearing blue outfits. The girl in the back had hair that laid mostly flat, whereas the boy in the front had slightly more unruly hair- not unlike how Sora liked his hair. They both had a look of mischievous confidence. Then, in the right panel, was a near full body of a male with long blonde hair, blue eyes, and a weird red triangle on his forehead. He looked a lot more serious than the kids, and wore a red outfit like theirs but possessed longer sleeves.
Something about them… Something about the way those characters looked…
Sora turned the box over to read the back blurb. It didn’t help much.
“R.O.C.K. ON and save the world from dangerous Mavericks! DOUBLE R.O.C.K. ON to protect the ones that matter!”
“Protect the ones that matter, huh?” Sora mumbled as he flipped the box back over. “Looks like a bang-up job I’m doing with that now. I should have stayed with-”
“What did you find?” Strelitzia asked from over his shoulder, apparently suddenly enough to make Sora jump. Was that just going to be her habit for the day? “Oh! Rockman ZX. I hear it didn’t do very well when it first came out. Are you familiar with it?”
“I… don’t know.” he slowly admitted. He looked over at her before asking, “Should I?”
For this, she only offered him a shrug.
“I’m more of a Rockman EXE fan. Iris is my favorite character.” she told him, putting on a wide grin. “I really like the arc she got in the anime.”
“But what about ZX? Does it have an anime too?”
Strelitzia shook her head.
“There’s rumors that it was supposed to,” she said, “But nothing ever came from it. There was even a third game planned but it got scrapped like a lot of other Rockman games. It’s kinda sad, honestly.”
“Oh…” was all Sora could say; his mind wandering back to the game box.
“Do you want me to buy it for you?” she asked with a tilt of her head. “I just got paid. It’ll be my treat!”
At this, Sora didn’t know how to respond. In a small voice, he mumbled more to himself than her, “This world always feels like some surreal dream. There’s always something…”
Now it was Strelitzia’s turn to give him an odd look. She then gave the game box an even more ambiguous glare.
“Do… you know them?” she ventured to ask.
Sora wasn’t sure how to answer. It was enough for her.
“Get the legacy collection.”
Sora blinked. “Ohuh?”
But she wasn’t looking directly at him- which he found a bit odd. The small look of contemplation she had also seemed off. He couldn’t get a good read on it as she picked up a different game box from the vendor table. On it were the same heroes as the ZX box on one half of the artwork, and then on the other was a hero in red, a girl with blonde hair in pink, and several other characters on the other half.
“This collection has the original ZX, its sequel, and the prequel series, Zero, in it.” Strelitzia told him as she handed the box to him. “All four of them. If you knew them, then maybe…?”
‘Everyone just seems to come back, you know?’
‘And we will!’
‘Just don’t forget us.’
The sudden voices, almost coming from a memory, hit Sora like a freight train. His eyes blinked rapidly as he tried to remain awake.
“Sora?” Strelitzia then fretted, noticing right away what was going on. “Please don’t go to sleep on me again.”
“I won’t.” he promised. He still wrapped his arm around hers to keep steady. “I promise I won’t.”
Strelitzia did not look very assured at this. She cast him a concerned stare as he struggled to keep his eyes open.
“Does he need some water?” the cosplay salesperson asked in genuine concern. “I knew it was super humid and hot today, but I didn’t think it was that bad.”
“I’m fine,” Sora told her through a sluggish drawl and a lopsided grin. “This just happens sometimes to me. Chronic fatigue, and all.”
The salesperson gave a careful nod of her head- not sure if she totally bought his excuse or not.
“I’d like to buy this game though,” Sora then said, pointing to the legacy collection still in Strelitzia’s hand.
The salesperson blinked. “I… alright.” she carefully agreed. “The Zero-ZX legacy collection is included in today’s Zero sale, so it’ll be a bit less than the price on the sticker. Is that alright?”
“It’s perfect.” Sora agreed. He gave Strelitzia the nod to place the game down on the counter so the salesperson could ring it up. She did so without hesitation- she even gave him a small nod. Finding out what people they knew from their original world were like in this world might be disorienting. She was going to back him up on this 100 percent.
“Also as part of the sale,” the salesperson went on, “We’re giving away E Tank keychain charms. You can opt out if you want, but there’s no extra cost otherwise.”
“E Tank?” Sora repeated. Another wave of exhaustion tried to come over him, but he fought it back by telling the salesperson, “Sure. I love keychains.”
“Great.” the salesperson nodded. She reached underneath the table to pull out something Sora didn’t expect to see again. It wasn’t much larger than his thumb, but it was a great reminder all the same.
After the purchase was made, Sora and Streltizia waved the salesperson goodbye. The duo came out of the pop up sale tents just as the rain started. Strelitzia immediately opened up her new umbrella so the two could continue to walk along.
“Thank you Strelitzia.” Sora said as they made the turn to their favorite cafe.
“Thank the pop-up sale.” Strelitzia beamed. “I think this is one of the best umbrellas I’ve ever owned! I didn’t think the transparent canopy was the best choice, but the noise it makes! It’s so nice.”
“Not the umbrella.” Sora disagreed. “For letting me find my friends again.”
“O-oh…” Strelitzia slowly remarked. A small blush crossed her face. “It wasn’t anything special. I’d never stop you from meeting your friends again.”
“Thank you.” Sora once more told her before giving her a polite kiss on the cheek. Strelitzia blushed even harder.
What he didn’t know was that she was secretly very jealous of his luck. Some luck indeed…

thinking about how physical trust and intimacy mean so much more in the context of curt and owen's lives than the average couples. in the spying game, you can't let your guard down for a second, because one wrong move could cost you your life. a drink with a friend? they could poison you. a handshake? they could easily inject you with something. a hug? they can stab you in the back.
curt and owen have known these rules for years, and so their relationship speaks to the complete and utter trust they had in one another.
they shared drinks. they hugged. they presumably had a more intimate relationship behind closed doors.
and i'm just thinking about how easily curt's fear washes off his face when owen reveals himself in the russian weapons facility. curt is still in a very compromising position, but he knows that he's safe, because owen would never let anything happen to him.
he's been taught over and over not to trust, and yet he does.
and some of that trust breaks through in their final confrontation on the staircase. even with owen pointing a gun at his head, curt tries to reason with him. curt doesn't just love owen, he trusts him. and in their line of work, that might mean even more than love.
and so when curt makes the decision to kill owen, it's certainly not that he doesn't love him anymore. no matter what owen did as the DMA, curt can't help but love him. but as owen monologues on the staircase, curt comes to an even more crushing conclusion: he doesn't trust him anymore, and that kind of trust can't be rebuilt.
following owen's death, i don't think curt ever truly learned to trust again. perhaps not even tatiana, who had saved curt again and again, could earn his fragile trust. because if owen -- skilled, bright, lovely owen -- couldn't be trusted, than who could?

Forever Clockwork
I know there's been a lot of Arlong simping on my Tumblr lately (and that is continuing!) but in the meantime I interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you some Dr. Wily simping. Arlong x Reader was the first reader fic I wrote, and now I wanna write about another villain getting some love. Link to AO3 as well as the story itself available under the cut. Please enjoy this beautiful Wily picture from @jennoirwolf and some beautiful Gigamix Wily. And yes, the second image is the same picture as referenced in the first chapter of the story.

Forever Clockwork
Dr. Wily x Reader
I used multiple sources of canon for this – the games, comics, anime, TV series, and manga, so you can imagine whatever version you like, though my favorite visual of Wily is from the Mega/Gigamix manga (now that’s a silver fox!)
This story is set after the Stardroids arc (after Megaman 7 video game-wise)
Megaman does not belong to me and is the property of Capcom, Archie Comics, Hitoshi Ariga, other license holders/copyright holders, etc. Feedback is much welcome and appreciated.
I
o0o0o0o
You were one of Wily's students when you were at university. You considered yourself blessed that your last few years of pursuing your degree placed you under the tutelage of the illustrious Drs. Light and Wily. You were a great admirer of their work and ever since you were a kid, you'd always liked tinkering around with various machines, from helping your grandfather with his car to writing code for various projects.
You'd made your way through high school, winning several respectable scholarships that got you into the prestigious university that, at that time, had both of these famous doctors on their faculty, since the doctors had their lab not far from the school.
Dr. Wily was known to be the tougher of the two, but you still considered yourself lucky to be his student, and you’d learned so much from him. Already, even before the first line of Robot Masters was finished, Wily was known as a bit of a troublemaker, but you liked that.
However, you didn't think he would go so far as to steal a whole line of Robot Masters and let them go on a rampage. And then create his own lines of Robot Masters, and then steal them from others like Cossack. It seemed like Wily had a one-track mind as you watched him from afar while advancing through your career. Sometimes though, you wish he hadn't disappeared like he did. He'd gone rogue not long before you graduated with your master's degree.
You'd tried a few different fields before settling in your current one, but you were feeling increasingly dissatisfied with your work for a company that specialized in private, personalized robots. And as you'd come to see, a big part of that was essentially companion bots. Specs would be customized depending on the type of companionship the client was seeking. Sometimes you rolled your eyes when you went over an order, but a job was a job. As much of what you did involved putting together hardware, you could spend long days – or nights – at the company lab. Then you'd drag yourself home. You've tried having a social life, but you have a pretty low social battery.
You plopped down on your armchair after a particularly stressful week. Perhaps it was time to consider a job change. You already had a solid resume, so you were confident you could find a job elsewhere Stretching out your arms, you see a shadow move, and give out a yelp, thinking you’ve surprised a burglar.
It reveals itself to be a robot – no, a Robot Master. Given that you study the Robot Masters others make, you quickly recognize a Wily number – DWN-024. Shadow Man. You stare at him as he inclines his head in a bow, the shuriken on his forehead flashing for a brief moment as it reflected your lamp.
“Doctor Y/n Lastname?" he asks. You're certain he knows perfectly well who you are, but this is a gesture of politeness. Already you find this robot charming. You nod in affirmation, your interest piqued. "I have been sent by Dr. Wily to offer you a job."
Holy fuck. You’d been seriously considering a job change, and one just fell in your lap! And from Dr. Albert Wily, of all people! You didn’t admit it to others, but you continued to follow his career even after he went rogue. And you most certainly didn’t admit that you had a crush on him back then, and still did. He had that silver fox appeal, after all. You stare blankly for a few seconds.
“Are you all right?” you hear the robot ask, and you turn your focus back to him.
“Yeah, yeah. It's just… I mean, I didn't expect to come home to this, you know? I'm not trying to be rude, you just caught me off-guard…!" You let out a nervous laugh. You take a deep breath, collecting yourself. So Dr. Wily wants you to come to work for him. It wouldn't be the first time he's worked with other people, although that didn't always work out for the best. So there's a lot to think about. You haven't built your own Robot Masters like Dr. Cossack or others did, so you have no robots to steal.
You look at the robot. He is a sophisticated piece of work, and your experience tells you that if you were to open him up, you’d likely find a design more sophisticated than whatever your current employer could offer.
“Do you need more information?" Shadow Man asked. You shrugged and nodded, and he rattled off a few things such as labs and equipment, amenities, and such. It actually sounded pretty nice, and certainly didn't sound like an offer that would be made to someone Wily intended to kidnap. You stroke your chin… are you seriously fucking contemplating joining forces with a mad scientist who keeps trying to take over the world?
“How is he?” you ask the robot. It dawned upon you that Dr. Wily must be listening to this conversation. The robot is silent for a moment, almost as if he’s listening for something.
Aha. Wily old bastard.
“You may see for yourself in person. If you accept, of course.”
You're tempted to call out your old mentor. But you smile and shrug. "Well, I would like to see how my old teacher is doing," you say, offering no commitment to the mil ob proposal. You offer Shadow Man a smile, fairly certain that he's video-recording you too. The smile isn't fake, though. You're secretly thrilled at the idea of seeing him again.
The robot offers his hand, and you take it, wondering how much of a gamble you’ve just endeavored on. Fortune favors the bold… at least, you hope.
You blink as you enter a well-appointed lab, and for a moment panic as you wonder if you should have put on some fresh clothes, the robot did sort of ambush you when you'd just gotten home from work… Just as you think to run your finger through your hair to try to look a bit nicer, your heart skips a beat as you see your old mentor.
He looked a few years older, but he was still as much of a silver fox as ever, a handsome sight in his dark clothing that was contrasted by his white lab coat and skeleton-themed tie. He approaches you, arms spread out in a gesture of welcome, like a host receiving a guest. It almost looks like he’s offering a hug. You wish…
“Welcome to my humble abode, Y/n,” he says. “Or would you prefer Dr. Lastname now?” he adds with a small smirk before he offers his hand for you to shake. You take it quickly, feeling the wiry strength in his grip.
“I’m fine with Y/n, though considering this is a job offer perhaps I should go by my professional name…” you shrug. “I can't believe I'm here. After you disappeared…" You shake your head. "I didn't think I would see you again. And believe it or not, I was a little disappointed at that thought."
You try to not blush, hoping he doesn’t read too much in your slip.
“You missed me?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Oh, crap. He read you like an open book. Play it cool, play it cool. You shrug and offer a small smile. “What can I say, you were my favorite teacher.”
He grins at that, and you feel your heart fluttering as if you were a silly little schoolgirl. Why the hell does this man have that effect on you? And despite the questionable morality of many of his actions, you do admire his moxie. He’s a stubborn old bastard, and you have to admit his plans for world domination suit him better than the standard mid-life crisis.
None of this means you’re not nervous around him. If you’d not wanted to come here, would he have kidnapped you?
That wouldn't be so bad if he treated you like a princess or something, right? Hah. Damn, you still do have that crush, huh?
“I know a lot of the students thought I was a bastard, so that’s refreshing to hear.”
“I don't know, many of the times you tore into someone, they deserved it, and it was entertaining to watch." Schadenfreude and all that. He laughs at that, and leads you down the building, passing a few robots at work and the like. The space has a lot of the things you'd imagine Wily to have, and you're not disappointed in the setup. It could be a lot of fun to work here… if you're willing to put yourself on the Most Wanted list.
Wily’s POV
It was nice seeing Y/n again. Y/n had been his favorite student and he had considered recruiting Y/n when he’d gone rogue back then. But she was so young and full of potential. He knew he was going on a risky path, and hadn’t wanted to drag her down with him. Oh, it was bloody tempting, though!
But now, she was old and experienced enough, and it seemed that one of his predictions about her had proven correct. She was bright and might not be satisfied in the usual industries that called for expertise in robotics, regardless of how well the job paid. If he was wrong and she eventually found something that made her happy, then good for her. But over the last decade, she'd bounced through several high-paying jobs. And well, he would be lying if he said he didn't find her attractive. She'd been pretty cute, in a nerdy chick way back then, and she still rocked the vibe pretty well. She trailed behind him, glancing over his projects and experiments with a knowing scientist's eye and curiosity.
“Oh hey, that’s neat that you have that picture,” she said as she gestured to a picture on the wall. Granted, it was a copy, but it was one of his favorite pictures, and added a nice touch to his workspace. She gave his tools a respectful berth as she approached the desk, looking at it. A young Dr. Light and Dr. Wily were standing with their first AI project, their arms crossed and up in the air in a symbol of triumph.
“It’s a pretty great picture, isn’t it?” he asked.
“Hell yeah.”
He laughed at that and continued along. He was not stupid enough to think there wasn't a possibility of her coming here just so she could try to steal something. She kept switching jobs, didn't she? Though he had to admit, if she turned out to be a thief, he'd be disappointed. No one was perfect, but surely she respected him too much to do that to him, right?
It was nice listening to her as she asked a question about this or that, and the way she asked seemed genuine, instead of someone digging around for information.
o0o0o0o
The picture you just commented on is a pretty famous one. It’s iconic in the robotics community given the work that Drs. Light and Wily did for science. Both of them were quite good-looking, but you think Albert has aged better than his old friend. And well, maybe that picture is what you use as the screen on your smartphone?
Are you going to change that before Wily notices? You're about to ask a question before Shadow Man approaches the two of you with tea. It honestly smelled pretty great, and you took the cup that was offered to you. The green tea is slightly bitter but has an edge of sweetness that balances it out nicely, making for a harmonious flavor.
“Oh, this is good,” you murmur as you finish it off. “Best cup I’ve had in a while, I think. You made this?” you ask the robot. He bows his head, and you smile. “My compliments to the chef.”
It seems like he’s genuinely happy at your compliment. He is an elegant robot, and maybe it’s because you’ve been more sympathetic to Wily than most – well, actually, pretty much anyone else – but you wonder about what he said in the past about robots having souls.
“So, how about it?" he asks as Shadow Man pours you another cup. You look down at the clear green liquid in your cup. You are well aware of his track record. He's more than just a man who marches to the beat of his drum. There's a chance this might not end well. But at the same time, he reached out to you. He has a bit more esteem for you than you had originally thought. You look up at him, taking in his lanky form.
Damn, but he really is a silver fox, isn’t he? Legal repercussions be damned – you tried to play it straight and narrow since you got your degree and look where that got you.
“What the hell. I’m in.”
His delighted laugh rings in your ears. And he does sound pleased as punch about it, as if you just made his day.

Sorry for the shorter chapter. There will be Super Fighting Robots (Reploids/Mavericks) next time.
I’ll admit I’m kinda having trouble getting past 4-5k words without feeling a little burnt out, even if I want to keep going as I used to be able to write more.
Any thoughts?

ViA x reader, reader falling asleep in ViAs arms please
DON'T LIKE REBLOG ♡
GIGLING RN (≧∇≦) I had so much fun writing it! ❤
I like literally wrote 2 whole stories and then noticed it was literally a waste of time which turned into headcanons ☚
Tumblr media
❦ ViA's embrace is warm and relaxing after a long tiring day of work. He specifically heats up his chest and arm areas to keep you satisfied. The noises comes inside his metal chest resembles a cat's purr, plus adding his voice which is rich. ViA becomes a bit talkative when it's just the two of you, he talks about nearly everything but it's just his day really.
❦ Upon sensing that you started to fall asleep, which ViA stops talking to not wake you up, then he rests his chin on top of your head. He half-hearthly sighs, his gaze full of adoration. The moment you snuggle into him, ViA goes instant heart eyes. ( I headcanon that instead of intimate things reploids and robots take it from the emotion love. Lmao do yall really think robots have dick?? The feeling of love makes them suffocate in their metal lungs yet makes them so full inside)
❦ ViA treasures these moments with you with his whole metal heart. His grip us tight but not tight enough to make you uncomfortable, as if he's afraid that you might vanish from his arms if he was to let go. He'll close his eyes which he'd look like he's in ' rest mode ' now that ← is clear warning,, as if he dares other to come close and disturb the two of yours ' sleep ' messing with the deep log's adminastor (used to be but idc) wouldn't be a wise choice.

Here is my rewrite of Mega Man Fully Charged kids cast !
Aki (Aki Daisan Light) :
- Aki's motif to become a hero would be change, from "doing it because it's right" to "I do it for my family, so they would live safely in this city I call home."
- a hopeless romantic. Keep getting rejected by previous crushes, the last one is Ashley.
- unintentionally troublemaker, like pulling jokes and gives sarcasm, never intended to be mean.
- He is an outcast, only true friend is Bert, Ashley is close, the others are just okay with Aki but never get close to him. Only a few get near for his family name or short interest in him.
- cares deeply about family and friends, like to welcome new friends and family (loves new found family trope/member)
- likes to do sports or dancing when bored. Likes video games and comic books. Likes collecting comic books and special editions posters. Have a collections of retro and indie games, also famous games.
- likes to learn string types instruments, guitar, cello, violin, harp. Aki can only practice guitar since he is busy and he can't learn all of it, so usually learns it from viewtube (youtube). Hates to play brass and woodwind instruments because it's take too much effort and breathing. The best at percussion instruments (instruments like drums).
- when he practice his singing voice, he can sing very well, but isn't confident onstage.
- never let him near the kitchen for cooking, Aki is horrible at cooking. He is good at cleaning when he wants to.
- practice his combat skills at free time because being a hero is important, also start to practice more since Lightfall incident.
- have trust issues after so many event went down in canon, not woodman level issue but still an issue.
- practice martial arts a year before the show event, practice many kinds of judo, taekwondo, and jujitsu. He learn all of it fast.
- collects various kinds of jackets, vest, and shirts with T-shirts, almost any kind of outerwear. Suna often borrow it or his friends would. Kay-kay steal his jacket sometimes.
- really friendly and outgoing kid and can talk to other kids since he understands some of the topics they talk about, usually trends. Aki is more connected with the nerds or geeks about his favorite comic books or games, he keep it a secret so he doesn't get more teasing, Bert is the only one Aki can talk freely with.
- Aki had another best friend than Bert. He was Jake Blake, rival and best friend. They used to spare match a lot and still hang out, even when Bert doesn't join in the match, Aki  and Jake always have Bert around, they were best friend. Until an incident happen to Jake because of Aki recklessness and it make Aki felt Guilty. Ever since then, Jake family moved to another city and left Bert and Aki, Aki was ridden with guilt, Aki never practice martial art ever since until the show begin.
Suna (Suna Daichi Light):
- absolute tech witch, girl can create various tech but it cost too much time, she could spent months on a project to finish, her longest project '0' took 1 and a half year to complete.
- can rock a goth and Lolita style clothes but for special occasions only, she usually wear sporty types for work and daily life.
- she had a crush that died of dementia, her name was Iris. A girl with soft light brown hair, soft emerald eyes, and fair skin but frail body, Suna absolutely understand how hard love can be for Aki after Iris death, Suna manage to date Iris for awhile before Iris death so the memory turn bittersweet, Suna keep all of Iris's gifts and photos in a lock box with a locket key she made specifically for that heart box for her Iris.
- she wanted to be a ballerina but now she wants to be a fighter for her family, she start to practice her offense fight skills with Aki as her sparing partner but still practice ballet, turns out she can combine both movements to her advantage and make more damage with that.
- A skilled ballerina and have won a trophy or two on a ballet competition. Everyone think Suna is beautiful in her ballerina outfit on stage.
Daini (Tsuki Daini Light):
- forced to endure high training and many pain for years, he became numb to his wounds and scars emotionally and physically.
- he was a good bright boy but being raised to be a weapon can tool a toll on anyone. Have anger issues because of neglect and abuse.
- wanted freedom for a long time but realized he will wasted years of pain for nothing if he didn't become the "robot liberator" Night promised him to be.
- wants pets but you know his conditions.
- he may seems stronger than Aki but it was because he always gave his best and pushed his limits too often to the point he is easy to be exhausted.
- can't have a break at all.
- even after the truth is revealed, he just can't heal his issues.
- things will go up for him, eventually.
- he rename himself as Daini without looking up the meaning, boy would he be mad at himself.
- gets adopted by hypnowoman and gets free healing therapy for a while.
- managed to find a part of Silicon City called  Rusty Silica. That town is the first version of Silicon City and a hidden part from history.
- he meet his new Mini, Tiny. Tiny is a mechanical in the town and start helping Daini for all the years worth of damaged he gained from hard-core training.
- after skullman fight, he returned to Rusty Silica and save Tiny before his home collapse on him, so from then on Tiny live inside Daini system cause boy system is jumbled up he is lucky to still function normally.
- start to pet many animals, small robots include scavengers (from comic) those little pets start following Daini’s commands and treat him like he is their beloved owner.
- gets a robot cat name Tango and scavenger name Scavy.
Bert (Robert Wily):
- Light kids first friend and most dependable and trustworthy person in school, unlike the rest of his family.
- Bert have always been a kind soul to everyone, cheerful young lad despite all the hatred thrown at him. Bert always believe to be kind and brave like heroes. Bert watch too much hero movies which give him his heroic moralities and his mother parenting style that help Bert to become the sweet boy he is in canon.
- Bert father is always absent in his life, even when that man was at home, he never care for the family other than give them financial support. Bert always hoped his father would be proud of him but he lost hope.
(Bert father had a chip in him that was planted by Dr. Wily, the chip cause Mr. Wily his lack of emotion, so Mr. Wily cut of Dr. Wily from his life for the safety of his wife and son. He was enraged to find out Dr. Wily manipulated Bert to like him and there's nothing that Mr. Wily can do about it.)
- Dr. Wily is the only father figure he have to replace his absent father. Little does Bert know, Dr Wily always have and ulterior motive for his needs.
- Bert became Aki's best friend every since day-1. Bert parents were uneasy by this at first but Bert's mother welcome Aki with an open arms after knowing the robot boy, Bert's father just ignored Aki present, the man was indifference by his son's friendship with a robot.
Ashley Adderley:
- lives with her parents and her uncle who is a robot master name plantman, she lives in an upper class apartment and have her own project room. Her dad owns the apartment.
- her dad is rich cause he is a manager of sky corporations and is a smart businessmen, unfortunately he doesn't come home often and lives next city.
- her mother owns a Cafe as manager and owner, she have a co-manager, even when she do this for hobby of cooking and decor. She make recipes so her chefs can cook it for the customers, the Cafe only opens 5 days a week on weekdays, but would close if she have a family plans and husband is around.
- her uncle works at a flower shop and sells pretty bouquets with so many colorful and unique flowers, even sells rare ones. He published two books, the first is about flowers and their histories also their maintenance, the second is about how to make a garden flower and how to make that hobby profitable.
- since all adults have their own business to do, sometimes when their are distracted they leave Ashley alone at home which gives her more privacy and time to find some parts for her project.
- she could leave the house locked before leaving and then when to shops, robot markets, if she is brave enough she would go to the badlands.
- she never stays out for long and always comes home before noon around 4.
- hang around libraries and her mom's Book Cafe more often.
- read heavy literature, science history books, robotics books, but also likes some teen novels.
- her high intelligence and curiosity makes her bored of the knowledge she gains from all media and school history that make her decide she wants to dig deeper into a more uncensored or true versions of history that peak her interest more that what all media showed to public.
- she start to learn all the ways to hack into illegal systems and info that she would bring to her grave if the knowledge is forbidden.
- Not only knowledge she would seek on illegal sites, she would gather info of some robotics part that she can study to make or buy at a local robot market, most parts are used robot master's parts.
- in her own project room, she is in a deep process of creation her own first robot master but keep failing because none ever active normally like a functional robot, it keeps blowing up. Instead, she makes a robotic suit.
- truthfully, she was a lonely girl. At elementary, Noone bats an eye at her, she doesn't have many friends, and had a bully that belittled her. So she showed to everyone of what she can do, it worked, Ashley then became popular at her elementary. Until she got humiliated at a science fair in front of everyone at school when she was at 5th grade. She changed school when she became a preteen and have her middle school at Silicon Central.
- at her first day, she stumble on Suna and Aki because they were searching for their class. To Ashley utter suprise, she sits with Suna as her new classmates. They talk with each and get along fine, so for the whole year they became and Suna invites her to her house, introduced Aki her robot brother and told her his is in her class with his best friend Bert Wily.
- so from then on, they become friends the rest follows the canon show.
- Ashley parents aren't always around so she can handle chores herself when none of her guardian are home.
- love it when she is home alone. She isn't home alone often so its an opportunity for her to be as wild as she likes.
- she test her inventions outside on the rooftop or at her project room if she wants to be safe.
- her apartment rooftop is own by her uncle Plantman and use as a green house for his flowers. Ashley often goes there if she wants to be alone or she wants to see the view, like seriously the sunset and dawn is gorgeous at there.
- wears and use a lot of safety protocols when she do a test run.
- only Suna knew about this and is a great secret keeper. Also she is Ashley trusted partner for her projects and vice versa.
- Ashley have a dream to be up on space, but she changed her dream to be the greatest scientist instead because she lower her expectations before her dream fall over.
(- Mr. James Adderley is actually a secret police working for the government agency to protect both human and robot lives and prevent war or tragedy from happening.
- his work as a manager is a cover up.
- he keep track of all the city incident and have his eyes on Wily and Light. Unfortunately, if he wants to arrest them, he needs prove of their crime.
- feel terrible for keep missing his daughter birthdays and breaking his promises to her for his work, he will mend his relationship.)
Chaotique/Felicia Fou/Felicia Quickster/Felicia Tops:
- Chaotique have another name which is Felicia. Like Aki and megaman, Felicia is Chaotique "human" alter ego
- this girl had a family of 5 older brothers, 2 older sisters, and a father who love his kids a lot.
- all of her older siblings are overprotective of each other, their dad is worse especially after being lock up by the government for "breaking the contract".
- was created for war but her dad can't help but making her a bit more humane than her siblings.
- had brown hair at first but she dyed it later.
- worked with Blue Bomb around the Hard Age, unfortunately her memories got wiped after her family attempted escape from war.
- get deployed to Lyon in France and layer adopted by Plum (robot News reporter) and Quickman (Japan-France speedster military bot). Her new name is Felicia because she looked so happy and energetic, also she forgot her real name.
- She lived in France for 5 years until a virus outbreak that force her to be separated from her mother and watch her father died by the robot zombies. (She despise zombies ever since and hates any zombie related movies.)
- she evacuate to Canada and lived in an orphanage, they thought she was a cyborg and she look more human than robot so she have to lie about being a human even though she start to despise human but it was still small hatred.
- enrolled to a "elite" school academy for her athletic skills, she was ecstatic but it turn to regret.
- no one at school respect her due to her having robotic parts, except for some group of social outcast artistic girls who bring Felicia to their group. The group consists of one robot girl and 2 human girls but one of them have realistic prospetics arms cause the girl was born without arms.
- the girls have a lot of fun with each other, they do pranks, art, karaoke, sleepovers, and heart to heart talk where they can pour their emotional baggage and they will support each other through thick and thin.
- a tragedy happened at a school talent show, an envious girl bullies Felicia and her friend, the bully have sabotage the stage and although Felicia team manage to won after getting sabotage the bully didn't stop her harassment toward both girls until an electronic panel get caught on fire. The fire spread to the whole room and Felicia almost lost her friend if she didn't save her with her superspeed. Unfairly, the bully paint the accident as Felicia fault so she got expelled from school and the accident gets covered for the school "good" name.
- Felicia gets adopted again by Topman (robot dancer, traveller and ex-soldier). Felicia happily accepted if that means to get out of her bad situation.
- while traveling with her new uncle, Felicia discovered her powers more and learned how to control it, with the help of Topman she became the speedster she is now.
- she then remembered her old name which is Chaotique so she settled with 2 names.
- wherever city she and her uncle stop by, she start to do pranks to lighten up her mood.
- she and her uncle arrived in Silicon City 3 months before the show event begin.
- she is an absolute dancer because of her uncle teaching so her uncle open a dance studio for people of all age to learn dancing from beginner to expert level. Chaotique is in expert level but help her uncle as his assistant.
- she attended Silicon Central but she is often absent for 5 months for the 1st semester. She is supposed to be the same class as Aki but she was smart enough to cheat (still studies) on an intelligent test to determine her grade level and land on a high score without being caught. She end up in Suna class.
- really great with navigation and mapping her surroundings, she is friendly to other robots and some kids regardless of species, people around her living area notice her as a good girl, ironic isn't it.
- her uncle can only afford a standard apartment but it was good enough for Chaotique, she loves to decorate her room to her liking and have many DIY stuff, thanks to her old friends.
- she doesn't buy clothes unless it's necessary, she often thrift clothes for girls styles, she own some clothing and her uncle would buy pretty dresses but she just keep it so it's still brand new.
- steals many things for fun or prank materials.
- DIY most of her pranks or collections (charms, accessories, or normal gadgets)
- best skater girl and wins a rolling derpy competition.
- her style is grudge, punk, and techno, mostly streetstyle.
- dyed her hair green when she was traveling with her uncle.
- she is tall and have a perfect figure with an outgoing attitude and mostly nice to everyone at school despite often being absent, she's one of the popular kids at Silicon Central.
- Bert likes Felicia as a friend than Chaotique which is hilarious to her.
- Suna only knows her as a classmate and that's it.
Peter Punk:
- is actually a 12 year old who skip grades due to his intelligent. But keep it a secret to his classmates and told them he is as old as them
- insecure about his age and his interest and he is afraid people would underestimate him because he is young.
- actually more childish when he isnt at school.
- his voice is squeaker than the Canon show, adorable even. (A squeaky toy mix with ducklings sweetness)
- his casual wear is more colorful than what he wears to school.
- no nose drool.
- still wears glasses but hair gets messier if he gets more relax or fun.
- actually admire Ashley like big sister he wants to impress, he wants to be smarter than her tho.
- likes Bert to his friendliness and never judge him based on age, Peter tell him the truth by accident but Bert never underestimate him a little bit even after finding out.
- his rivalry with Aki start out cause Aki treat him like a kid (Aki actually just being polite due to their height differences) so Peter gets more annoying on purpose just to make Aki  stop treating him like a kid, it only make Aki gets annoyed and them treat him like an annoying classmate (a nuisance). Peter think this is better cause atleast Aki sees him at his level.
- PLEASE JUST MAKE HIM CUTE INSTEAD OF GROSS. LIKE CUTELY ANNOYING.
If this notes get many likes and replies, I'll make my re-imagine of them, ISTG.

Mega Man X: The Human Paradox: Part 1
Summary:  In which Aero invites X to a banquet, Zero doesn’t recognize his friend, and X considers what it’s like to be human. [I only wanted this to be three parts long, but as a result each part ended up a solid 300 words longer than the last. 😅 Hope it’s still a good read regardless!]
Rating: K+
Word count: 1,825
Part: >1<, 2, 3
. . .
“The first step to knowing yourself is to know your limitations. Through trial and error, we learn more about ourselves by what we are able to do or not do. The phrase ‘everything in moderation’ is not just for wine tasting, listeners. It is, in fact, how we should approach everything. You truly never know unless you try it first!”
X made a displeased frown as he smoothed out the corners of his clay figurine. This was his latest little project- something to keep him busy while he tried to figure out his purpose in life. So far, clay modeling wasn’t exactly a favorite, but he did find he liked working with his hands.
“But what if I don’t have any limitations?” he mumbled to himself. He raised his figurine to eye level to get a better look at it. It was going to be a small dog. Something not quite Reploid, but not quite natural either. He still had to make impressions on its face for when he added the glass eyes.
“During this time of discovery,” the self help narrator went on, “It is important to have a good support system. While in the perfect world, we could find the upmost patient saints that will follow our every whim and moment without complaint, but we do not have that luxury in the real world. Instead, make the encouragement two sided. If you decide to start a symphony for the experience, also join your support for the recital they have worked months toward. At the same time, you should avoid anyone who would suffocate potential growth by-”
The narrator was cut off when an incoming call came through to X’s headset. X set down his figurine, quickly wiped a hand with a damp towel, then placed that hand at his headset to answer it.
“You’ve reached Mega Man X. How can I help you?”
“Spare an ear for a rant?” the warm voice of Aero Sephira questioned. She sounded amused, but at the same time rather impatient. “I just found out my beloved grandmother is purposely ignoring me now. She tried to tell me she had to turn off her hearing aid in order to save the battery. X (X!), she doesn’t even need a hearing aid!”
He didn’t mean to, but X let out a small chortle. He started to work on his figurine some more as he continued his conversation with Aero. Thankfully his headset made hands-free communication easy.
“I didn’t know you could rant that long about something,” he mused. “Was it about Zero?”
“Har.” Aero snorted in return. “You would just love that, wouldn’t you? Then you can give me the good old ‘you’re different, but you still have a lot in common’ speech.”
“Well if the shoe fits…”
In her silence, X could almost see Aero purse her lips together and give a slow nod of acknowledgment. Another smile etched itself onto his lips. It was true- he usually was telling one or the both of them they’d be good friends if they just let each other be friends. An exercise in futility, sure, but one of these days it was going to stick. He hoped it would, at the very least.
“But in all seriousness,” X then said, “What’s wrong? Did something bad happen?”
“No.” Aero admitted with a sigh. “It’s my school. They’re doing this banquet thing this weekend. Black tie-ish, tickets are half price if you bring a plus one, and all the announcements make it seem like it’s mandatory. I don’t even like anyone at school enough to ask them out. A good portion of them want to get in my pants so they can get to Cain, or you. Like I’d ever be with people who’d use me as a power trip again.”
X flinched. It messed up the detailing on his figurine a bit, but he could fix it.
“Does someone from your school have to be your plus one?” he asked.
“No. Gran’s offered to go with me, but who would take their grandmother to a school banquet?”
“Maybe I could go with you instead.” X offered.
There was an uncomfortable amount of silence before Aero let out a flat, “What.”
X could feel his cheeks flush a bit as he explained. “Well... it’s been awhile since we’ve done something together. Let alone something formal. My schedule is pretty clear for the next month or so, and since we don’t know when your next exam will be…”
The line was silent as the two stirred over his suggestion.
“X…” Aero carefully started to say, “It’s supposed to be human only…”
“Oh.” X mumbled, his heart immediately sinking like a stone. But then he remembered something. “I can take off my armor. I don’t do it often, but I can for you. If we’re lucky, no one will even notice. A lot of people can’t even tell the difference as is.”
“X…”
At this point, X had already made up his mind. He set down his figurine, confident that it was ready to be baked now.
“Send me the details later, and I’ll pick you up an hour before.” he told her. Even his voice sounded rather confident with itself. “You can count on me, Aero. I promise it.”
“I… I know.” Aero softly admitted. “Thanks X.”
X gave a firm nod before ending the connection. It took him a few seconds more before considering that he might have just asked Aero on a date.
. . .
He might have tied his necktie too tight. X couldn’t help but keep adjusting it before ringing the bell to Aero’s home. Wearing a full formal suit just felt weird to begin with. Not having his armor on at all was like leaving the security of a comfortable, warm bed in the middle of winter. It felt weird, almost unnatural. But he could work with it after some adjusting.
X’s heart leapt into his throat when the front door finally opened. On the other side was Aero. She offered him a wide grin as she welcomed him inside. It was with anxiety as he quickly looked over what she was wearing. Aero was sporting a dressy jumpsuit made of cotton with silk detailing. In her hair she had two wide hair clips on the left temple. She looked rather adorable, and also a bit too casual for a black tie event.
“Well, don’t you look spiffy.” Aero mused as she looked him over. “You really went all out.”
“You said the event was black tie.” X tried to defend.
“Black tie-ish.” she corrected. “But that’s alright. We can make a few adjustments so you don’t completely stand out.”
X tried to open his mouth to object, but Aero had already started to adjust his attire. She took off his jacket with both care and agency. As she looked over the jacket, she gave it a small whistle of appreciation before neatly folding it and placing it on the back of the nearby couch. X watched in mild discomfort as she looked over him again. He held his breath when she moved forward to adjust his now exposed sleeves. She rolled them up to his elbows with relative ease. Aero gave a hum when she took a step back.
“Who did your tie?” she eventually asked.
“I did.” X carefully replied. “Why?”
“Would you be heartbroken if we got rid of it? Right now you look like a frat boy trying to blend in at his uppity aunt’s dinner party.”
“I assume that’s bad?”
“Well, it certainly isn’t the most flattering thing…”
What happened next took X by surprise. Aero took a firm grip at the knot of his tie, and pulled it closer to her. X tried to avert his gaze as she undid the knot rather easily. Their faces were still a bit too close for comfort- he wondered if Aero even realized that. When the tie slipped off of him, and Aero tossed the thing toward the couch, X had to take a moment to make himself breathe again. Aero didn’t seem any the wiser over the ordeal. She instead inspected his clothes one last time before giving a hum of approval.
“Much better.” she decided out loud. When Aero finally got a look at X’s bashful expression, something in her felt incredibly guilty. She too had her eyes averted as she went on to tell him, “Sorry if that was in your personal space. I wasn’t really thinking about it…”
“You were fine!” X quickly said, taking her by the hands. “I mean, it was fine. Really. I didn’t like that tie too much anyway. It felt too tight, and I just wasn’t getting the hang of wearing it anyway. You know? It’s all good. Honest.”
Aero still gave him a look of caution. She looked down at their hands. He was still holding hers- a small idea that made her hold on a bit tighter. As she looked to meet X’s gaze again, a broad grin had appeared on her face.
“Are you ready to party, and laugh at all the people I hate?” she asked him with a renewed confidence. It gave X a sense of relief as well.
“Following you.” he promised with a nod.
Aero smiled a bit wider before leading the two out the door. X couldn’t remember the last time he felt this lightheaded. The conversations they had on the way were spent on catching up. X told her about his plans to do more work with his hands, and Aero talked about her internship. Just them talking could have made up the entire night’s activities. It was comforting. X almost didn’t notice as they entered the high school gym. The place was dressed up rather sparsely- most of the space being dedicated to a silent auction on the left side of the room, a moderate dance area to the right, and the general eating areas in the center. You almost would have mistaken it for a small, local library run craft fair instead.
“Well,” Aero said with a click of her tongue, “This is going to be the rest of our night. What would you like to do first?”
“What would you recommend?” X carefully countered back.
At this, Aero gave a thoughtful hum.
“We could probably kill about ten minutes to look at the silent auction stuff,” she decided. “I can even show you what my class donated.”
“Sounds good.” X nodded.
Aero grinned. “I had a feeling you’d say that,” she even teased.
X smiled right back, then offered his arm out for her to take. Aero accepted the gesture rather easily. She slunk her arm around his and allowed him to more or less lead the way. A small part of X welled with a certain kind of pride. Tonight was going to be a good night, he was sure of it.

Mega Man S: Chapter 19
Not a goodbye, but a see you later
Summary: In which Sora goes home, and a certain someone annoys a certain someone else. Word Count: 2,571 First | Previous | Bonus ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆
Looking at the keyhole nearly made him choke up. Sora held Kairi’s lucky charm as close to his chest as possible. The E Tank he got with Aile and Vent was well snug inside one of his pockets. He hoped it wouldn’t fall out between now and when he got home. Assuming the universe didn’t eat it in order to keep the world order. Not that he knew if that was actually a thing or not. He just prayed it wasn’t.
“The air feels weird here.” Vent noted.
“We are kinda on the edge of two universes colliding.” Juno said with a smirk.
“Uniting.” Giro quickly corrected. “Two universes uniting, my iris.”
“Indeed they are.” a new voice spoke up as it came over to the group. “The Guardians are on standby and ready for anything as well.”
“Prairie!” Sora shouted as he ran over to the Commander. Without so much a warning he gave her a tight hug.
“Sora!” Girouette corrected out of habit. “Show some respect! Let her breathe.”
“Sorry, sorry.” Sora quickly apologized as he got off of Prairie, even shooting her an apologetic smile. Vent and Aile gave each other an equally confused glance. Did Giro know that blonde haired girl? She looked too young to be the commander of anything…
“It’s alright.” Prairie insisted. “Sora’s going home. He can take all the time he needs to be ready for it.”
Sora gave her a wide grin in appreciation. Prairie gave him a quick one in return before getting serious again.
“However, we should be all ready for the unexpected.” she reminded them. She even took a look over to Giro and Juno, giving them a firm nod. They returned her wordless request with nods of their own. In a situation like this, they had to be ready- even if it meant letting Aile and Vent find out if they had Biometals.
“We begin at your mark, Sora.” Prairie once more reiterated.
“Right.” Sora agreed with a determinate nod. He took in a deep breath and slowly let it out. He loosened his grip on Kairi’s good luck charm as bit as he once more looked it over.
Don’t worry Kairi. I’ll be home soon.
As Sora prepared to point his Keyblade at the lucky charm, Fleuve spoke up with a frantic, “Wait!”
Everyone looked at the short Reploid in confusion. He blushed a bit and averted his gaze for a moment. It didn’t take long for him to brush it off. The Reploid had something important to say, after all.
“Sora, before you leave, I want to give you my gratitude.” Fleuve said. “When the last Commander left us, we still didn’t know much more about the Biometals than them being sentient rocks she created. I’m sure we’ll be able to use the information from your Biometal to help the others.”
“Oh!” Sora realized, “Speaking of, I don’t think I’ll have much use for this anymore.”
Sora dug into his pocket to pull out his Biometal. All this talk about these random rock things made Aile and Vent gawk a bit as they tried to get a good view of it. They didn’t think it to be anything special. It certainly didn’t look very special either.
Fleuve thought very differently. He gawked for a different reason.
“B-but…!” he tried to sputter as Sora gently placed the Biometal in his hands.
“I have an even better souvenir.” Sora claimed. He dug into his pant pocket for a moment to pull out the empty E Tank canister. Behind him, Aile let out a soft, happy gasp. Vent, likewise, reacted with his eyes widening in surprise. He really didn’t think Sora would take it with him.
Satisfied with the Biometal returning to its creator’s hands, Sora got ready to activate the keyhole. It shimmered as he withdrew his Keyblade. ‘Hurry up,’ it felt like it wanted to say, ‘Hurry up and come home. Everyone is waiting for you.’ Sora gave it a firm nod, pulling out Kairi’s lucky charm with even more certainty. Upon presenting it to the keyhole, the lucky charm started to glow and slowly rise from the palm of his hand. He waited until the lucky charm was in line with the keyhole before pointing at both with his Keyblade. The beam of light originating from the Keyblade’s tip rung true for both targets. The keyhole immediately started to glow even brighter- forcing any onlookers to cover their eyes for a moment.
“Sora!” a familiar voice called out just before Sora got hug-tackled.
“Namine?” he wondered as his eyes were still adjusting. When he caught the bit of blonde hair, a wide grin etched across his face as he held her close. “Namine!”
“You did it Sora!” Namine cheered. She was the one to break their embrace; if only because she knew there were many more hugs in store when he crossed over again.
“So,” Vent spoke up, “Are you his girlfriend, or…”
Before he got a real answer, both Juno and Aile whacked him upside the head. Namine and Sora let out a small laughter as Vent whined, “It was an honest question!”
“No.” Namine said. “Nothing like that. I’m… a friend. I’m one of Sora’s many, many friends.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Namine.” Girouette said, giving her a friendly nod. “It’s only a shame that our meeting will be brief.”
“Make sure you take care of Sora for us, okay?” Juno cut in with a wide grin.
Namine offered them both a sincere smile. “I will.” she promised.
“I would hope so,” a new voice scoffed. “Namine had far more patience than I did during this whole operation. Without her? I’d rather not think about fracturing our universes any further than what they are.”
“Over-1!” Namine exclaimed- apparently surprised that he had decided to show himself. “I thought you decided you’d…”
She trailed off when the Reploid placed a hand on her shoulder. After studying his face for a moment, she believed she understood what he was thinking. Over-1 turned his attention from Namine to the others. He expected the odd stares from the people in his universe. His outer body was made in the same style as the first generation Reploids. At this point in the timeline, they had well evolved away from such casings. Over-1 then looked to Sora. He almost snorted at seeing the boy gawk over his furred collar, more than likely putting together that Over-1 was a Reploid too.
“Good work Sora.” Over-1 told the boy. “Along with Girouette, Juno, Aile, Vent, Commander Prairie, Fleuve, and the Guardians. Our worlds are now connected.”
That news caught everyone’s attention.
“What? Seriously?!” Sora asked first. Over-1 gave a casual roll of his shoulder.
“Now that a proper connection between our dimensions has been established, you could theoretically cross over at any time.” He paused for a moment -punctuating the silence with a glare- before adding in a flat voice, “Don’t.”
“Oh…”
“We should get going.” Namine softly spoke up, even giving Sora’s hand a small tug. “That particular gateway isn’t going to stay open for long.”
“Right.” Sora nodded. But he still took one last look at his new friends. They were all waving and giving their goodbyes and good lucks. If you listened close enough, you could even hear Model X and Model Z’s voices in the mixture. He wished he could give them a proper goodbye as well. Then he wondered if Aile and Vent would ever learn about them.
Tears started to form in the corner of Sora’s eyes. He didn’t quite realize they were there until the first drop fell down his cheek. Before Namine could stop him, Sora ran back toward his new friends. He gave a tight hug to Juno- mostly by virtue of her being closer. The gesture certainly shocked her. Carefully, the young woman wrapped her arms around Sora to return the hug. Sora then thought she was gently patting his head, but caught Girouette’s sleeve out of the corner of his eye.
“We’ll endure.” Girouette softly whispered.
“I know.” Sora mumbled. “I know…”
It took a lot of effort to step away from Juno. He made the mistake of looking back up at her. Juno smiled at him. It was so soft and motherly, Sora almost cried again. Why did it feel like this would be the last time he’d ever see her and Giro again? A part of him just wanted to take them with him. All of them. They’d be safe in his world. But… would their world be safe without them? Perhaps this really was for the better. It didn’t stop him from going in for another hug though.
“Never was good as saying goodbye.” Sora admitted with a shaking breath. “Everyone just seems to come back, you know?”
“And we will!” Aile jumped in, her face all smiles.
“Just don’t forget us.” Vent grumbled as well.
“I won’t.” Sora promised. “I absolutely won’t!”
With new resolve, he turned back around to the keyhole and Namine. Namine, he noticed, almost looked like she expected him to stay. Sora gave her a smile before slipping his hand into hers.
“Let’s go home.” he happily told her.
“Let’s.” Namine agreed with a grin of her own.
Together they went into the keyhole’s light. Walking through felt a lot like being pricked with a thousand different pins and needles. It definitely didn’t help as the light became stronger, forcing them to shield their eyes. Sora could feel Namine slip through his hand but didn’t know if it was safe enough to find her. He kept moving and soon the light dimmed little by little.
As his eyes struggled to adjust to the dimming light, he stumbled right into someone’s arms.
“Namine? Riku? Kairi?” he wondered, desperately blinking to figure out who it was. He came to notice their light skintone first. Then a mess of dark colored, loose curls hanging over one shoulder. Their voice was distinctly feminine with an undertone of unbridled hatred and sarcasm.
“Urg. It’s you.”
“Sabrina!” Sora realized in time with his vision properly returning. “It’s you!”
Against her better wishes, Sora then gave Sabrina a tight squeeze as an ecstatic hug.
“Let go of me!” she demanded, trying to wiggle out of his grasp. But he wouldn’t let go. Instead he repeated over and over, “I’m home! I’m home and it’s you! I’m home!”
“Sora!” the voices of Kairi and Ventus shouted as they ran on over.
“Kairi! Ven!” Sora called back. He let them in on the bear hug- Sabrina whined as she got further buried by the incoming huggers. There was no escaping now. Terra, Aqua, Riku, Donald, Goofy, and even Mickey were now rushing on over to get in on the reunion. Namine stayed behind a bit, smiling to herself. He would give her a hug way more bone crushing than what he was giving Sabrina right now. He’d make it last a lot longer too.
After all, he was home again.
. . .
And so, Over-1 was alone again. He liked it this way, actually. Having companions only reminded him of how short their lives all were. At least in the in between, in the silence, he could-
“That was a bit anticlimactic, don’t you think? Could have done with another fight for good measure. Give ‘em that ol’ final boss routine. Three forms tops!”
He didn’t recognize the voice, but the mere intrusion made Over-1 let out a low growl. He turned to see that there was now a man in a black coat sharing this nonexistent plane with him. The man in the black coat was leisurely looking around the area, as if there were something of value to look at here. There was nothing in the in between. There never would be. So why the hell was this man here? No one had the power to be here except Over-1. No one else has the power to...
“Get out.” Over-1 demanded. “You don’t belong here.”
“Hmm… Not yet.” the man playfully mused. “I like making new friends.”
“I don’t make friends.”
“Oh, I know. I know. You pour all your heart and soul into a single girl, and then the universe just spits on her like a llama who doesn’t like its handler. Been there, done that.”
Over-1’s glare darkened. “You intrude in a nonexistent plane, and you’re not going to give me the courtesy of knowing your name?” he snarled.
“What good would that do?” the man chuckled in return. “It’s not like you have a ‘banned users’ poster around here that’ll stop me. Not when you and I are so alike.” The man let out a hearty laugh- just long enough to further boil Over-1’s artificial blood. “Nah, man. I’m one of those ‘earned way too many names over the years’ kinda guy. But the one everyone constantly clings to is The Master of Masters. Pretty flashy, if I do say so myself. A bit of overkill though. I was once a boy too you know!”
The man’s bright laughter echoed in the blank space. Over-1 could almost feel his systems about to go into a different mode. Over-2 would be excellent to give this guy a good attitude check. Just a little roughing up could bring him down to size. Assuming Over-1 could get that first punch in. He had a feeling this guy knew exactly what he was saying, and how he was saying it.
“I’ve been watching this whole situation blow over, Over-1.” the Master of Masters proclaimed. “And lemme say, I’m really impressed with what you can do. A bit more than what I can do, of course, but we’re still kindred spirits. Yeah? Time travel buddy to time travel buddy.”
No, Over-2 would be far too kind for this maniac. Over-5 would do much better.
“So, on that note,” the Masters of Masters mused as he slid closer to Over-1, “About that whole ‘don’t cross dimensions’ thing…”
Over-1 cocked an eyebrow at the black coated man. He couldn’t see that smarmy grin, but he could definitely feel it.
“No.” Over-1 insisted. “And I believe you know why, Master.”
“Oh come ooooon,” the Master whined, “Aren’t cha excited about all the fun possibilities we could have together? Testing things, giving the audience what they want... Pandering?! It’ll be great! Just trust me.”
“No.”
In a different tone of voice entirely, one much darker, the Master of Masters then said, “Is that what Aero or Kalinka wanted you to do? Forcing yourself to be alone like this?”
Over-1 had never hated anyone more than in this very moment. He could attest to be the smallest bit of manipulation when it came to their timeline, but the Master? This was clearly someone who wanted to play the fiddle while the world burned. He was no better than the villains who called themselves gods in their universe.
And the worse part?
The Master of Masters knew this.
“You will not change the fates in our universe.” Over-1 threatened.
“Whaaaaa?! Of course I wouldn’t!” the Master proclaimed, returning to his jovial personality. “There’s a world order to maintain, you know. And just between you and me- this place ain’t exactly stable either. So what’s a few cameos every now and then?”
Over-1’s glare hardened.
Looks like he wouldn’t be alone again for a long time.
