"son, i could move the sky for you"
~
so...midnight and sol in the rewrite... (more info below the cut!)
in the scorched ruins of a long abandoned ravine awaits an elderly badger. for seasons, midnight retraced the ancient claw-marks of those before this time; fading echoes of now forgotten spirits. every night she patrols the worn stone, accompanied only by the distant pelt of stars above her.
the low humming of wind bouncing off the gorge walls was scarcely broken--be it by a passing critter or occasional loner--but tonight, something was different.
she follows the shrill wailing--lumbering after it with more energy than she had showcased in moons--down the ragged cliff edge, and into the hollowed out stone. there lay a scrawny cat--a kitten. midnight's ears itch at it's mewling, and her throat tightens.
she reaches out a clawed paw, and pulls the shivering scrap towards herself. the kit whimpers still, but unscrews it's eyes. brilliant sunburnt irises burn into her own; and a warmth she had long been deprived melted the aches of age away--if only for a moment.
those pools of yellow observed her curiously. after a heartbeat, the child nuzzled deeper into her wiry coat.
how long had it been since held new life? how long had it been since was held by someone?
regardless of the answer, she couldnt let go now.
i love sad old people

[ID: Three creatures depicted together, above them are labels that say 'Midnight Sky', 'Stone Teller', and 'Soul Devourer'. Midnight Sky is a starry badger with markings resembling the northern lights, golden eyes, and a moon on her forehead. Stone Teller is a scrawny hairless cat with rock-like spines along his back, green eyes, and the planet earth on his forehead. Soul Devourer is a tall and spindly reddish-orange lion-like cat with a pitch black mane and tufted tail, golden eyes, and an eclipse on his forehead. End ID.]
Three beings are known throughout the Sky Islands. The beings that created this land, the beings that have molded it to their will, the beings that have influenced and guided cats since the beginning. The beings all so different, except for their shared name...
The Three Immortals
When the Star Plane materialized, these three were formed with it. Since before even the Dawn of the Clans, they have affected the lives of mortals, whether it be Midnight Sky's prophecies, Stone Teller's imparting of knowledge, or Soul Devourer's pure destruction. These three can be called upon using their true names, which remain unknown except to those who search. But just who are these immortals?

[ID: Three beings depicted together. The first one is a white orb that glows a bright blue; this orb is a star seen close up. The second is the vague form of a white cat, glowing a piercing golden with golden eyes. The final one is a black hole with swirling reds and oranges surrounding it. End ID.]
Midnight Sky
Aka: Midnight, The Stars, Sky, Moon
Midnight Sky, the kindest of the three, oversees the starry skies of her domain. She created the stars for all creatures of the Star Plane to enjoy, as well as all herbs found on the Sky Islands.
Midnight Sky is the one to invoke when you're looking for a prophecy. She will send a StarClan envoy to relay information, often a cat close to the invoker.
Her dream form is a starry badger, and her most common physical forms are a badger, raven, or a deer.
Her alignment is good, she represents the sky and future, and she parallels herbalists.
Stone Teller
Aka: Rock, The Tree, Earth, Seasons
Stone Teller, the mediator of the three, oversees the earth and life of his domain. He created all living creatures of the Star Plane, as well as all the plants the Clans have incorporated into their diet.
Stone Teller is the one to invoke when you're looking for knowledge. He often sends a vision of the past pertaining to what you want.
His dream form is an earthen cat, and his most common physical forms are a hairless cat, owl, or a squirrel.
His alignment is neutral, he represents the earth and past, and he parallels mediators.
Soul Devourer
Aka: Sol, The Abyss, Void, Sun
Soul Devourer, the most chaotic of the three, dwells in the darkness of the abyss. He created the Starless Forest, as well as the black holes that cats' stars can become.
Soul Devourer is the one to invoke when you're looking for war. He's always willing to lend a blessing if it means another soul in his domain to feed on.
His dream form is an abyssal lion, and his most common physical forms are a lion (as cats know them) or cougar, a hawk, or a coyote.
His alignment is evil, he represents the abyss and present, and he parallels warriors.

some dotc three refs(?) i always thought it was a missed opportunity not to have them play a bigger part in the arc so uuhh au where they do? the tribe doesn't exist in this so everyone is just a regular kitty
jay is a loner who lives near highstones and the unofficial apprentice of midnight, lion is part of one-eye's group and has a nasty reputation as his strongest fighter, and dove is a housecat who knows pretty much everything that happens around the area

Midnight and the “Dark forest horse”.
Midnight is nice and enjoys giving prophecies to the cats. The horse meanwhile is evil and only enjoys scaring cats.

“Congratulations, Hawkfrost,” Firestar meowed. “I’m sure you'll make a fine warrior.”
“Thank you, Firestar” the new warrior replied. “I'll do my best to serve my Clan.”
“I'm sure you will.” Firestar touched Hawkfrost on the shoulder with the tip of his tail in a gesture of encouragement. “Pay no attention to all the fuss. It’ll all be forgotten in a moon.”
He walked on, and Hawkfrost raised his head to look after him. Brambleclaw couldn’t quite suppress a shiver when he glimpsed the tom’s eyes, an eerie ice blue that seemed to stare through the ThunderClan leader as if he were made of smoke.
“Great StarClan!” he murmured aloud. “I wouldn’t like to meet him in battle.”
“Meet who?”
Brambleclaw spun around to see Tawnypelt standing behind him. “There you are!” he exclaimed. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.” Answering her question, he added, “Hawkfrost. He looks dangerous.”
Tawnypelt shrugged. “You’re dangerous. I'm dangerous. It’s what warriors are for. This whole full-moon thing could be broken by the slash of a claw—and has been before."

my illustrations i did for the Warrior Cats Classics zine, specifically for the Midnight Chapter 3. I really like the interractions in this scene

In a world separate from our own, something big is about to happen...
Creation of the Isle of Seasons
Huge lore dump ahead
Before there were cats, there was an endless expanse of sky known as the Star Plane, shared by three strange beings known as Midnight Sky, Stone Teller, and Soul Devourer. These three lived in endless discussion, and after a long while, they began to grow bored.
(more under the cut...)
Soul Devourer decided to create a portal to another world he'd heard of to find fun, but Midnight Sky stopped him, worrying he'd cause havoc in whatever this strange world was. After much deliberation, Stone Teller was sent into the world to learn about it.
He observed many species, but his favorite was the humans. Inspired, he returned to the Star Plane, and he proposed they create their own world of living beings.
Midnight Sky was delighted by this idea, but Soul Devourer didn't really care for the idea, believing lesser beings would not be worth creating.
Stone Teller formed an entire island with a tree in the center that would create the changing seasons he'd observed, though at its base, the four seasons were at their strongest.
Soul Devourer began to grow more and more jealous as the two worked tirelessly to brainstorm ideas for this strange world. He began to feel like he was being replaced by this silly project. So, in a fit of rage, he smashed this continent into many small islands, all floating in the sky. He demanded the other two go back to paying attention to him.
He was shocked to find that, instead of fawning over him as he had expected, Midnight Sky was furious, and Stone Teller turned away from him. Soul Devourer, for his ego and destructive nature, was cast down below the islands, which turned into an inky black abyss around him. He was bound to live forever in darkness, and never know the light above.
Stone Teller did his best to rebuild, bringing islands closer together and merging some. But he couldn't fix all of them. So, instead, he made sure the islands had ways of traversing them. Whether it be bridges connecting them, or simply bringing them close enough to hop between. He did everything he could. Finally, the world seemed ready.
He then began populating these islands with animals similar to those he'd observed, though he never could recreate those "humans", so he decided to leave that for their world. Instead, he created something brand new: cats.
Stone Teller gave this species the same tall ears and long tail as himself, and then decided to give them as varied of appearances as he could. He carefully crafted this creature to be powerful enough to adapt, but weak enough to have predators. He had to keep the balance in order, just as he had always done.
Midnight Sky liked these creatures so much, she decided to give them stars from her sky. Within each cat, she carefully placed a star that would give them everything they needed to survive. And when a cat died, their star would return to the night sky to be passed onto another cat in the future.
However, she had one last gift, knowing these cats would need help to survive in such a world. She gifted the first four cats with a gift each: wings for flight, invisibility in shadows, speed of the wind, and breathing underwater. These were meant to help these four in forming the first groups, one for each season.
Of course, mortals always have a way of surprising even Midnight Sky, but that's a story for another day...

"A star has fallen from the sky. With the mysterious creatures in carried inside all dead, its only sane survivors are three cats, Sniffle, Olive and Quilt. The three, formerly housecats, now have to figure out how to live in a land that is entirely new to them. Though, a presence seems to watch them, and there's talk of a cat who helped them after the star fell. That isn't the only thing they feel is watching them, as a looming shadow haunts their ever move." Children of the Ponderosas, my super cool new awesome WRITTEN warrior cats story had its prologue uploaded RIGHT NOW! i thought doing a project like this would 1 be fun as ive never done anything like it before and 2 help me learn how to write better, so i cooked something up!
