Ah yes, two of my favourite characters: sugar-crazed impulsive detective, and her assistant, revenge-seeking anxious botanist

Okay ik I might be pushing it here but I’m pretty sure the ram symbol looks exactly like the Herzen family symbol

Which could potentially mean that Ernest is a descendant of the herzens

Looking at his mother she looks exactly the same as sophia/katia with the purple hair and the eyes

It’s just her hair is a lighter colour

It’s seems that much like Katia’s mother she died when Ernest was quite young and didn’t get to watch him grow up

The story of his grandfather is also sort of similar to Anton’s fathers

But instead of being greedy and causing damage, Ernest’s grandfather used the diamonds to help London prosper but at the cost of his daughter and her son having to struggle through life

So really if he is a descendant then they have most certainly changed their ways

But yeah possibly Ernest could potentially be a descendant of the herzen family

sometimes I do in fact have thoughts about Ernest and Katrielle choosing to continue calling him that despite him. not saying anything about whether he wanted to remain being Ernest, and I'm not sure how he would feel about it, and I don't think he 100% does either. what's in a name? it's more important than you would think.

“How long have you known?” Kat asks as she moves her pawn up to match his.

“Not that long,” Miles answers, considering his next move. “I realised what you were doing with the Seven Dragons early on. I didn’t know all the other stuff until later. I knew you wanted…something from them. It’s why you kept pushing. I don’t mind the knowledge that it takes publicity, but…a heist is a little far, isn’t it?”

“Not for them,” she answers. “My loyalty was always to them.”

“What changed?” Miles asks. As though it’s not obvious what changed.

“I met you,” she answers, “and the rest of your family.”

some general AU notes & design stuff under the cut

Miles is wearing a lab coat

Katrielle isn't wearing any red, since that comes from her father, and he isn't in the picture.

I felt like she needed a hat so she got a hat. The main color being black is to contrast Miles's white lab coat

Kady Graves as a fake name was because I think Kat would choose something closer to her actual name, and Graves was probably a last-second thought.

Kat is studying archeology because she was raised in the cult in Southampton. She knows the relic stones are connected to where her mother is, and she needs her mother back.

I think in this AU the Seven Dragons would each have one of the relic stones, and that’s why Katrielle is conspiring to get them

Claire and Flora are still around. I can't think of any reason for them to go on the quest themselves.

Miles has the Dragons as his aunts and uncles once they track down that Claire adopted him.

"Cold tea." (Professor Layton x rainbow magic)

Summary: After they helped Hope the welcome fairy finding the teddy bear and sent back to the human realm,Miles thinks it's his fault.

Miles stood at the front door.He knew his mother would ask where he had been because he missed tea time.He knew he could lie saying that he was playing and lost track of time or lost his way home.But on the inside,he felt like he should just tell her the truth.

He felt as if it was his fault they got captured by trolls and got almost eaten by them.Maybe it would've been better if he just stayed out of the way.The sunflower necklace was next,so he could stay out of the way until they found the last one.

Miles took a deep breath and opened the door.Tea was left for him.It was cold.

"Miles!",said a voice.It was his mum. "Where have you been? I've been worried sick...! Are you okay?"

Miles tried to hold in tears,but he couldn't.It was falling out of him already.

"Oh, mama,",he said through tears. "I'm so sorry."

He ran to his mother to hug him.Tears were on his mum's cardigan.

"Oh,Miles,"said his mother rubbing his back. "It's not your fault."

"No! It really is!",he cried. "All I just wanted was for you to get better! I didn't mean to make you frightened!",his mouth wanted to say it.He was going to tell the secret he promised to never tell. "You see,I-"

His mother stopped him.She put a finger to his mouth. "Shhhh...."

Miles was saved by the bell.If she didn't shush him,he would likely be called the traitor in fairyland.Inside,he gave out a sigh of relief.

"I know it was an accident.", said his mother. "And I know you didn't mean it."

She wiped his tears away. "Now do you want your tea? I'll microwave it for you."

I still think roy/keeley will be endgame but I also think jack is exactly what keeley needs right now. she needs someone she can pour her heart and soul to, which she’s already started to do with jack, and who can validate her. eventually I think jack will be the one to tell keeley the obvious fact that she still loves roy, or jack will be a big part of keeley accepting that for herself. either way, jack is going to be important to keeley’s arc this season.

So! Until now, who Jules get along with best in the Holler?

Jules is honestly vibing with almost everyone so far! She's been polite and has treated everyone with honesty and kindness, and in exchange people have really welcomed her to Scarlet Hollow. She's even managed to have a good relationship with Tabitha and Kaneeka at the same time somehow!

Jules has positive feelings for a lot of characters, so let me break down the most notable ones:

She is closest to: probably a tie between Stella and Tabitha. They are the ones that have opened up to Jules the most, and sharing those intimate moments has created a tight bond.

She relates most to: Kaneeka. They have a similar logical mind and responsible aura. They’re basically on the same wavelength most of the time.

She appreciates how chill Avery is, it makes her feel at ease with them. It saddens her that they feel like an outsider, so she includes them in her plans every time she gets the chance. She was a bit weirded out when they said they wouldn’t mind a ditchling laying eggs in their body, but she likes them nonetheless. She’s looking forward to their party.

Zane makes her laugh, she’s always interested in what he has to say. The only time she momentarily disliked him was when he slapped the wooden beam in the mines to prove they wouldn’t collapse (oh boy).

Gretchen seems to be happy when she’s around and that, in turn, makes Jules very happy.

On the other hand, there are some people that she doesn’t like / doesn’t get along with:

She is disliked by: probably Deputy Franklin, because she has called him out in public. Frou-Frou says she despises her but she kinda hopes that she’ll end up tolerating her.

People that distrust her: the police, Zachs and Dr. Kelly. It’s not because of anything she’s actually done, but because of her status as an outsider, a Scarlet and a possible influence on Reese, respectively. She hasn’t said anything outrageous to them though, so they still have a civil relationship for now.

She dislikes: the bus guy, clearly. Becka, because of how bad she treats everyone (and because she gives her second-hand embarrassment). Becka’s mother, because she had the nerve to blame and threaten Tabitha after what happened in the mines instead of educating her brat child. Sybil, because she’s supernaturally manipulating everyone and because she constantly takes advantage of Kaneeka. Similarly, Jules is annoyed at Miles’ attitude towards his sister. She hates that Wayne is stalking her and not understanding his motives. Finally, she’s against Dr. Kelly’s way of dealing with Reese, and she feels a mix of anger and pity about her (plus she finds her very rude).

She distrusts: the police, their unprofessionalism shocks her, although she suspects it might be due to Sybil’s tea. Obviously she doesn’t trust Sybil at all. She’s relieved that she never drank her tea, she wouldn’t have imagined that her dislike of herbal infusions would be of so much help! Also, she doesn’t buy Wayne’s “you don’t have to fear me – I’m your protector” tune and she’s very much wary of him.

She’s lowkey a bit freaked out by the pastor’s daughter. Creepy kid.
