okay I will be honest I fucking HATE the trope/archetype where a character has behaviors that very heavily imply they're autistic but in the actual piece of media they go to great lengths to be like "no I'm not autistic! I've been tested and they say I'm not! I'm just me :) !" coward behavior. however. I do think there are some. SOME characters where it's so so much fucking funnier if they have a fuck ton of autistic traits but it's for reasons Completely Different from autism and They're Not Autistic They're Just Like That. for example

i've been back in my gmw/lucaya phase for a little bit (yes, i know, i too am questioning what tf i am doing with my life) and just seeing maya after texas, where she might finally have a chance w lucas and she talks excitedly about what a great guy he is is heartbreaking.
because you know what's coming and you know she's about to shut herself off from that for someone else (because her hand was forced) and she's gonna invest herself in something that is almost definitely going to leave her hurting in the end.
and you watch her practically jumping out of her seat with glee because finally, she just might get to explore things with a guy she's liked for some time, and it breaks your heart because you know it's never going to be able to last.
