#they speak!#ignore this#my coworker needs to move out and i can't tell if he was mostly joking or completely serious but he asked if i wanted to rent a place w him#and it's so tempting it's. so fucking tempting i want to move out so bad#and especially on days like today where i have to listen to my parents fail to communicate without getting loud and angry#like i feel so awful. i'm 22 and i still have to hide in my room and try not to cry. i can't live like this anymore.#and it feels so hopeless because what else can i do? fuck up my health even more by working more hours?#so i can afford renting a tiny place? when i'm already so unwell and struggling to take care of myself??#and i know i'm not at a place to cut my parents out of my life so i'd have to endure all the judgement they'll have about who i room with#and i know know know no matter who i room with there'll be judgement. because i can't even talk to friends casually without it lol#not to overshare on main but i was omw to work on friday and almost cried at the bus station#because i was thinking about how i never really had an adult in my life that really truly loved and nurtured me#like yeah i had teachers and later in my teens some community members that supported me and were positive influences with positive impacts#and as much as i am hurt by my parents they still very much cared for me and shaped me as a person. both for better and for worse.#and yeah be the adult that is there for yourself now and all that but.#i can never change the fact that there wasn't someone that was there. and i wish i could stop mourning but it's hard. it's so hard.#and one day it will get easier but for now i just have to endure it. i guess. hahaha. :)

We are in the car in our way home from Julien's show! It was so good! I haven't listened to much of his music but it was so beautiful. I really enjoyed it! I don't always love live music because it's to loud. But I really had a good time.
Honestly today was really lovely for the most part. I slept okay last night. But I woke up to some very distressed texts from James. They had lost their new gloves and were just falling apart being angry at themselves. And like I get it. They were expensive and stuff. But also. This is a fixable problem. And I hated seeing them being so mean to themselves over something so trivial in the grand scheme of things.
It did make me realize something about myself and my family and how I was raised. I joke a lot about never telling myself no and getting everything stupid thing my little brain ever wants. And how I'm spoiled but not rotten!! And when James lost their gloves I was like. Oh this is fixable. And went on eBay and found some to replace them. Problem solved. James wanted to just beat themselves up, I wanted to just throw money at the problem. Which I think sometimes my family does. This is with all the love in the world because I know how hard my dad worked to be able to do that. If he couldn't fix it himself he would make sure it was handled. And I think I'm very much like that. If I can't make it, fix it, or find it, I'll just. Handle it. I know it's not particularly unhealthy or whatever. It's mostly just an observation about my family's love langue.
So I was a little distressed that James was distressed. But there wasn't anything I could do for them in the moment.
So I got up and got dressed and started organizing the apartment. This would be my big goal for the day. Putting things away. Making a plan for where things will live. I didn't have a ton of time before I needed to go but it was a good start.
I left the house around 930 and went to get breakfast before I got to the museum. And the museum was fun. I don't love doing the desk but I am getting better at it.
When I got there I hugged in James for a bit. They were still distressed but it would lessen throughout the day.
Their meeting got pushed back and I was already a little early. So I made a little walk around the musuem before I sat with James and got to work on my scarf knitting.
I made a ton of progress today. I got through the first ball of yarn I had in this color and started the next. I still will probably have to take the whole thing to joann's to find a color match. But we'll see. Maybe this will be a tube scarf.
Jack and Cindy came in and not only was it Jack's birthday (he did not tell me and I had to find out later) it was also Cindy's first day as an educator. Well at least it was her first day of paperwork. I'm excited! She's so lovely so I'm excited to have her as a coworker.
James went to their meeting and I had some guests come in. They wanted an audio guide and I couldn't figure out why they were all in Spanish and panicked a little. But I would figure it out with only minimal stress. And then I had two more people come in and that was it.
I mostly just got to knit and scroll on my phone and eat my pasta salad. Honestly a really ideal way to spend a few hours.
I did have to answer the phone a few times. Which was scary but mostly because I was sure I wouldn't be able to give anyone the correct information. But I only had to answer it twice and did a pretty good job. Maybe. I dont actually know.
James came down and took back over. And I headed out. I still had energy and I wanted to throw myself into my stuff at home before we had our cannonball run drive to Philly tonight.
I went home. And I knew if I sat down I wouldn't do anything. So I put on a podcast and got to work. I did a lot of moving around. I hung some stuff. I found homes for things.
While I was doing this Elizabeth let me know that the Friday group rescheduled so I didn't have to come in. And that was such a huge relief. I was really stressed about everything.
But she also reminded me I am there Wednesday Thursday and Friday next week. And I somehow double booked myself. So I had to quickly text Jessica and let her know and it's all sorted but that was very stressful for me.
I had disappointing people and I just have. A lot of things and a lot of things to juggle. Sometimes it's going to get messed up but I am trying my very best. And I hope that everyone is aware of that because I really don't want anyone mad at me.
I would set an alarm for 330 so I would know when to leave to get James from work and we could drive to Philly. But I had lots of time.
So I kept sorting in my studio. I cleaned up my desk a lot. Moved things around. I found all my Christmas gifts and put them in one box. And found all my in progress quilts and put them in another box. It is not done at all but it's a start.
I would really like to do a big purge before the winter. I used to be so good at purging stuff. But there has been a lot of anxiety tied up in my objects lately. I don't know what it is. But it has become a lot more guilt inducing to get rid of things.
James said they will help me but I am still nervous about it. I both wish I had nothing and also with I have more shelves so things would just be vertical. I love shelves. If wood wasn't so stupid expensive. Maybe I'll look into some planks.
I would eventually sit and have a sandwich. I also heated up my hot glue gun and fixed a few things that I had been putting off. And then I worked on my new iron on sweatshirt with my more accurate puhtok translation. Which I think is peak comedy. I did not have enough P,'s so I have to cut an R. But you cannot tell. I am going to embroider trees on the top with a million french knots. But I'm looking forward to another project. You know how I am.
I would lay down for a half hour. Just to rest a little. And then I was off to get James.
James ended up getting pulled into a meeting. So I stayed in the parking lot and organized the car a little. Moved some stuff around. Threw out the trash in the back. Mike let me know that James would be a little but that was okay. We had lots of time.
James wanted us to leave right at 4 but we would leave a little later then that. I just chilled knitting in the parking lot. And then once we were in the road I kept knitting.
James let me know some work drama. And vented a little. I told them about my afternoon. But really it was just a nice drive.
We were slightly worried about the world series traffic. But it would only affect us a little towards the end. And we would find parking around 630.
We got to the venue and it was still an hour before the doors opened. So we went to find something to eat and a bathroom.
We found a fancy little pizza place and got a tiny pizza that was upside down. Cheese with sauce on top. It was pretty good. I enjoyed the company more.
We met up with the rest of Julien's family outside the venue. Grace and David and Katie and George. And it was really nice to see them. We had comp ticket. We were on the guest list. So we waited by the door for those and just talked. I people watched.
Inside was a small stage room with a bar. And it was honestly lovely. The crowd was small but enthusiastic. And when Julien started they were so nice to listen to.
But I was also just enjoying watching everyone. The people dancing. The couples. The bassist had a great cloud sweater and the girl on the barricade was clearly their girlfriend and they made faces at eachother the entire set and it was super sweet.
There were two songs I specifically really like. The very last song was my favorite one. And then we were heading to the back to check out the merch. We got shirts and a CD. And waited for Julien to come out.
I ended up talking to David for a while. He does tree work and I was fascinated by that. I have been trying more to ask people specifics about themselves. I am very comfortable talking about me. Probably from art school. And I want to know more about others but they aren't comfortable just. Telling me after I tell them like I want them to be. So I am practicing actually asking. It's always interesting to find out about other people's lives.
And then the band was there. I asked the bassist where their cloud sweater was from. May have already found one on eBay. And gave Julien a big hug. He did such a good job and I am very proud of him.
We chatted for a few minutes but we wanted to get out of there before the next act. We said goodbye before things got to loud and we were out.
We found the car and got our car drinks. And decided we had enough coffee and water to drive straight back.
And that's what we are doing now. We are about half way home. And I am really excited to get a shower and go to bed. Today was a really good day.
I hope tomorrow is good too. I don't have to rush to puhtok in the morning to set up because the group isn't coming on Friday. But I do have two canneries. One I'm leading. I hope it's another good day with great people.
I hope you all have a great night. Sleep well everyone. Stay safe!! I love you!!

Oneshots: Crush Confessions Series
A New Side
Being handsome, smart and successful, Remus has his choice of men. So he's allowed to have standards, right? And he has a type, namely confident and intelligent men who know what they are doing. Unfortunately, Sirius Black, easy on the eyes as he might be, is none of those things. Or so Remus thought. (Humour, 4102 words)
The Myth of Remus and Sirius
For a simple farm-boy like Remus to end up with the legendarily handsome Prince Sirius of the House of Black of the city of Grimmauld, nothing less than devine intervention would be needed. Luckily for Remus, the gods like nothing more than to meddle in the affairs of mortals... (Fluff, 2240 words)
Every Step of the Way
Remus doesn't think Sirius has anything to prove, but if he wants to run a marathon, then Remus is sure as hell going to support him every step of the way. But the charming and flirtatious trainer who clearly has a thing for Sirius, is making it all a whole lot harder. (Hurt/Comfort, 2221 words)
A Prince's Promise
When he was just a child, Prince Sirius was made to vow that he would never fall in love with someone of impure blood. Little did he know at that age that love isn't always a choice, that love is something that can just happen to you. And when it does happen to Sirius, the consequences of breaking that vow are grave. (Angst With a Happy Ending, 5241 words)
There's Always Something
Benjy has fallen head over heels. Again. But he swears this time it's different! Again. However, it turns out his new love interest is already dating this Remus guy, and he's just using Benjy to cheat on him. Somehow, Remus himself seems to be more interested in Sirius Black's reaction to the whole situation than in his actual cheating boyfriend. (Fluff, 2554 words)
And They Were/Are/Will Be Roommates
Marlene meets Remus, who's looking for a new place to live, as he can't deal with his feelings for his roommate anymore. So when Marlene’s coworker Sirius tells her that his roommate is moving out, it seems like a good idea to bring him into contact with Remus.
Marlene may have missed something, though. (Humour, 2196 words)
I'd Love You Still
"Sirius please, stay with us, okay?"
Everyone keeps telling Sirius that he must stay, but he's so tired... The darkness is luring him in, with a promise of escaping all the pain and exhaustion.
But there's something very important he must tell Remus first. (Angst With a Happy Ending, 2845 words)
Newfound Popularity
Remus and Sirius are all the way at the bottom of their school's social hierarchy, but Remus can't help but admire the popular group, with their easygoing manner and confidence. So of course, when one of the popular guys starts showing an interest in Sirius, Remus feels a little jealous. Just not in the way he expected. (Humour, 3623 words)
A Worthy Match
Remus works as a matchmaker at Madame Puddifoot’s Dating Agency, and if he wants to keep his job, he has to find a match for 'most eligible bachelor' Sirius Black. While there are plenty of very willing candidates, for some reason, Remus is reluctant to let any of them go on a date with Sirius Black. (Humour, 4258 words)
Just For Fun
Remus and Edgar have been dating for a while, but Edgar isn't ready for anyone to find out about their relationship. According to him, it'll be much too suspicious if Remus were to suddenly stop the flirtatious banter that's been going on between him and Sirius since fifth year. As a matter of fact, Remus making some flirtatious comments towards Sirius every now and then is the perfect way to make sure no one will suspect a thing about Edgar!
And it won't matter to Sirius. After all, the flirting is just a joke to him, right?
(Wolfstar endgame, of course) (Angst With a Happy Ending, 3625 words)
A Subtle Nudge
Talk to Mary, point out how great Sirius is, get Sirius a date.
Technically, that's exactly what Remus did...
Or Sirius is pining, Remus has a realisation, and James’ horrible plan might actually have a good result. (Fluff, 2848 words)
Muggle Charms
Marlene’s little brother has a thing for Sirius, because who doesn't have a thing for Sirius? Marlene is freaking out, and everyone thinks it's just hilarious. Remus would've thought it was hilarious too, had Marlene’s little brother not been very close in age, cute, witty, and oh so bloody charming. (Fluff, 3754 words)
Get What He's Saying
Remus thinks it must be a joke when James says that someone fancies him, yet James insists that it's serious. Repeatedly.
We have a very oblivious Remus, a desperately pining Sirius, and a few friends trying to help them out. And boy, do they need it. (Humour, 5674 words)
Not In Front Of the Dog!
Remus is sitting outside alone, and Lily comes to talk to him, thinking he might be upset because of his secret feelings for Sirius Black, that only Lily knows about.
However, Remus is acting very weird. He really, really seems to not want to talk about it, and even seems embarrassed, while he and Lily have talked about it plenty of times.
And what’s going on with that strange-acting, huge black dog, that allegedly just wandered up to Remus? (Humour, 2422 words)
Moments In Time
Getting older can be a fearful experience, but when you're a werewolf, it's just a tad worse.
There's only so many excruciating transformations one's body can undergo before it can take no more. For Remus, the idea of celebrating the day of being another year closer to that inevitable moment is inconceivable.
However, his friends teach him that instead of simply having lived another year, his life contains many other anniversaries he could be celebrating: having been part of a close group of friends for another year, having had company during the full moon for another year, and... having a certain friend be in love with him for another year? (Fluff, 3153 words)
There's This Guy
There's this guy...
Apparently, Sirius really likes him, but apparently, the guy is not interested.
The Marauders and their friends are discussing the shocking event of someone rejecting Sirius Black, and Remus is the only one who seems to see this guy's side.
This leads to a heated argument between the two normally so close friends, but apparently, shouting out your feelings in a crowded room can sometimes get you a happy ending. (Fluff, 1851 words)
Bottled-Up
Is something as simple as a bottle really enough to ruin the close bond Remus and Sirius have always had?
Well, a bottle, a trick and a whole lot of miscommunication, that is. (Fluff, 4055 words)
It's Written All Over Your Face
Hope Lupin and Euphemia Potter are good mums.
Hope Lupin has never truly stopped worrying about her son fitting in at school. She never expected him to get along with the popular kids. She never expected him to be friends with the popular kids. And she never, ever, expected the most popular boy in school to look at her son like that.
Euphemia Potter wants her sons, biologically or not, to be happy. And what would make Sirius happy has suddenly become very obvious. (Fluff, 5200 words)
Everything Is Always Sirius With You
When Lily and James find out Remus has a not-so-subtle crush on someone and start questioning him about it, Remus thinks it can't get much worse.
But when Sirius joins the conversation... Well, things get siriusly awkward. (Fluff and Humour, 1935 words)
Nobody Has a Crush On Anybody
Remus Lupin is not an idiot.
He knows something is off. James Potter, James ‘I actually cried because I missed Sirius so much when we had to sit apart in class’ Potter, that James Potter, is abandoning his friends. More specifically, he’s abandoning Sirius and Remus. Every time the four Marauders hang out together, he’s dragging Peter away with some lame excuse, leaving Sirius and Remus with just the two of them.
Remus knows there can only be one explanation: James has a crush on Peter.
Or maybe Remus Lupin might be an idiot after all. (Humour, 1356 words)
With the Whole World Watching
Life tip:
If you want to keep your secret crush a secret, do not tell your disapproving mother about it, if she has the tendency to send you Howlers when especially angry.
Just one of those things Sirius Black learned the hard way. (Fluff, 2670 words)
Oneshots: Sad Wolfstar Stories:
Sirius meets a man who is strangely compelling, who has large, amber eyes and a warm voice, and who is completely freaked out by him. (Angst, 1158 words)
Shards
Remus' mind is playing cruel tricks on him in an attempt to deter him from his path to self-destruction. (Angst, 915 words)
That's All I Need To Know
Never Like This
After the betrayal, after the murder, Remus wonders if he could've known? After all, Sirius Black has always been a bit mad.
Just not like this. (Hurt, 1860 words)
Not Quite Yet
James wants to make Remus the Secret Keeper to give him a reason to live after a devastating loss. (Angst: Major Character Death, 1339 words)
I Wish I Could Miss You
Sirius is back from Azkaban, but Remus still feels like he's lost him. (Angst Without a Happy Ending, 832 words)
Already Decided
The Ministry won't give custody of the precious Boy Who Lived to someone who has close associations with a Lycanthrope, which puts Sirius in front of an impossible decision. And he thought things would be easier after the war... (Angst, 2113 words)
It Would've Been Enough
Harry Potter is a lucky boy, who doesn’t only have a mum and dad that love him very much, he also has uncle Moony, who’s like a second father to him. Harry is very proud of his mum, dad and uncle Moony, as they’re famous war heroes who fought against the evil wizard whose name Harry isn’t even allowed to say.
They don’t tell Harry everything about their past, though. For instance, Harry knows there was also someone named Padfoot, who they all hardly seem to talk about. Harry is very curious about this mysterious Padfoot, but he never asks, as the topic always seems to make his dad and uncle Moony so very sad. (Angst and Hurt, 5544 words)
Oneshots:
For Better or for Worse
There's nothing Sirius and Remus won't give up for each other, including their marriage. (Angst turning to Fluff, 2726 words)
Somewhere Along the Way
Now that Remus and Sirius’ relationship has crashed and burnt, they have to somehow find a way to co-exist, if only for the sake their friends. (Break-Up and Make-Up, 3325 words)
Leaving And Growing Up
Inspired by the song Mathilda by Harry Styles
Though Sirius Black was James' best friend and Remus’ first love, apparently he didn't think he owed them more than a phone call from the airport before leaving for good. Just a phone call, never an explanation.
Years pass with Remus thinking about Sirius Black less and less. Until Orion Black gets involved in a great scandal, and the fall-out reveals some shocking truths about the Black family, which put everything in a new perspective. (Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, 4773 words)
A Window of Opportunity
There are only a few days between Remus’ seventeenth birthday, and the implementation of new legislation forbidding Lycanthropes to marry. Sirius has a small window of opportunity, and Sirius Black has never been one to waste an opportunity. (Wolfstar Wedding Fluff, 2989 words)
I Want To Thank the Storm That Brought the Snow
City boy Sirius intends to make a short work trip to the town of Godric’s Hollow, but is forced to extend his stay when he gets snowed in. However, when local café owner Remus Lupin offers to teach him the True Meaning of Christmas, it might not be so bad after all.
Yes, it's the Cheesy Christmas Classic, made Wolfstar. (Fluff, 7293 words)
It's Like the First Time
Yes, he's in the hospital and doesn't remember anything about himself, but it's actually not that bad. His memories are sure to come back in a matter of days, and until then, he can spend time eating, sleeping, reading, daydreaming about that ridiculously attractive Healer... (Fluff, 2774 words)
He Doesn't Deserve You
Remus’ roommate is a self-absorbed, cheating, manipulative bastard who treats guys like crap. Unfortunately, Remus cannot risk being kicked out on the streets, so he doesn't interfere.
Not interfering becomes a whole lot more difficult, though, when Remus’ roommate starts dating Sirius Black, a handsome, kind and clever man who deserves so, so much better. (Eventual Fluff, 4848 words)
Ever After After All
Young lord James Potter has finally won over the love of his life, the lovely miss Lily. Of course, according to lord James, their wedding requires no less than a week filled with celebrations. Remus Lupin will of course attend, as lord James’ closest friend, despite being only the son of a minor nobleman struggling to uphold his estate.
What Remus should do, is try to meet and get to know a wealthy woman, so he might one day secure a good marriage and has a chance help his father pay his debts, so they won't lose their estate and land to the cruel mister Fenrir Greyback.
What Remus shouldn't do, is let himself get swept away in some whirlwind romance with the Potters' new servant, a kind and clever young man, who's too beautiful for his own good. (Historic Romance, 9668 words)
Inconceivable
It's not that Remus hasn't forgiven Sirius yet, he just hasn't accepted that he has forgiven Sirius yet.
He just needs a little more time.
However, a gruesome Quidditch accident makes it evidently clear that you should never just assume more time will be given. (Angst With a Happy Ending, 5192 words)
Always Meant To Come Back
Remus Lupin is very young when he joins the Order of the Phoenix to fight in the war. Young, but not naive. He knows that war isn't an exciting adventure with heroic battles, but pain, loss and grief. He has known this ever since his boyfriend was killed by Death Eaters when he was just seventeen years old. It only makes him more determined to fight.
And maybe the things we lose really do have a way of coming back to us in the end. (Angst With a Happy Ending, 3837 words)
Proper Introductions
When Remus befriends his colleague Lily and her husband James, he gains an entire friend group. The only member he hasn’t met yet, is James’s best friend from school: the beloved, handsome and charming Sirius Black.
Feeling quite intimidated by the stories, Remus wasn’t expecting to have such an amazing chemistry with Sirius Black upon finally meeting him at the Potters’ annual Halloween party. Through meetings, misunderstandings and miscommunications, Remus learns the value of properly introducing yourself when meeting the man of your dreams. (Fluff, 5613 words)
A Matter Of the Heart
The time had come for the fortunate heir of the most ancient and noble house of Black to secure himself of an advantageous marriage. A feat which should not be proven difficult for the handsome and becoming young man, were it not for the young Mr. Black to dismiss all his admirers' attentions.
The only person he seemed to find agreeable was the young Mr. Lupin, a boy solely dependent on what was bestowed upon him out of charity by Mrs. Potter, but with no fortune and no prospects of himself. (Historic Fluff, 5139 words)
If Tomorrow the World Crumbles
Keeping your relationship healthy can be a challenge. In the middle of a war, dealing with secrets, false accusations and unjust suspicions, it’s even more of a challenge. But a fight can lead to an apology, an apology can lead to forgiveness, and forgiveness just might lead to happiness. And as it turns out, not all secrets are bad. (Angst With a Happy Ending, 4072 words)
Best Kept Secret
With Sirius as their Secret-Keeper, the Potters have an actual chance of surviving this war, but at what costs? (Angst With a Happy Ending, 4664 words)

Convo meme for Null and Jejune?
Tumblr media
This is from Jejune's perspective because you Can't have Null's. Also, the original ask was sent by @quiescent-trolls , but I'm pretty sure Tumblr deleted it after I drafted the ask so <3
Google Docs Link
Surely it's not a good sign when your boss calls you in to chat alone... and before your therapy session is supposed to start, no less. Hmm. No, you don't think you'll take that chance, actually.
You were taking your usual post-stolen snack nap up in the rafters when your rest was disrupted by the calm, monotone voice you’d come to know as your employers. Your boss told you he needed to speak with you ‘immediately’ as if it could be more urgent than your food coma. You’re not one to rush things in your downtime, but you don’t think that matters to him in the least.
Honestly, the guy still calls you friends, but you haven’t felt that way in a really long time. Debt that you owe him be damned, you know what friends are like and this isn’t it. Well, you think you know at least, but that’s hardly the point. No need to start trouble that you can’t handle though, so you comply with his ‘request’. Mostly. Look, he doesn’t need to know he won’t be talking with the real, physical you. Secrets never killed anyone. Hah.
After you spend a minute lying on your back and thinking you remember that you were supposed to be heading down for your chat. Right, okay, here you go. Staying in your prone position you sweep any hair on your face off to the side and open your extra eye, the ring around your pupil glowing a bit brighter as you manifest your duplicate, an exact copy of you sitting on the rafter beam beside you.
Ugh, you really are the sexiest bitch in this place, huh?
With a smirk you tilt your head to gesture to the floor below and close your lower two eyes, focusing all of your attention on perceiving through your duplicate. It jumps to the floor, landing in a stylish three point that none of your coworkers are around to appreciate. ‘Typical’, you think to yourself.
In only a couple of moments, you see the face of Null through your duplicate, the door to his ‘office’ creaking open to reveal the snake himself.
“Hey boss man, what can I do for ya? Need some intel?” you project your voice through the duplicate, your true self is moving their mouth but no sound comes out from it.
“My darling June, I’ve noticed that you’ve seemed…” His head tilts to one side and his dark eyes flicker to you from where they’d been staring at the wall a second prior, then he continues. “...Somewhat distant recently, would you be willing to tell me why?”
Yeesh, just June? What a dick, he knows you hate that. Regardless though, your duplicate makes a deep bow, holding one side of the cloak out for a bit of dramatic flair. “Sorry, Null, it won’t happen again! You’ve just been hanging with our dearest Divine a lot recently, so I didn’t want to intrude.”
Standing back up you see the faintest quirk of one brow upon his face.
Shit, did you overdo it? No, no, surely not, he knows you’re a bit dramatic but there’s no way he takes you seriously enough to think you’re being ingenuine, right?
Up in the rafters, you can’t help but swallow nervously. You did just wake up, so you’re not exactly at the top of your game here.
Null steeples his fingers, “Oh please my friend, no need for such a grand apology. I was simply concerned for your well-being. Drawing back from others is often a sign of other things…”
He sounds genuine, but you’re keen enough to pick up the hidden implications. You and he are the least connected and he knows it, so it isn’t really all that surprising that he’s wary of you straying.
“Still looking out for me as always, huh? You make a jade blush, honestly!” Your duplicate gives a shy laugh, lifting a hand to rub at the back of its head in seeming embarrassment. “Really, I’m fine, just giving you your space. I prefer to play with that sewer beast of yours anyway, my jokes tend to go right over Parl’s head, y’know?”
This seems to placate his suspicions a little, as it plays into what he knows and it isn’t really a lie, either. Null rests both hands on his desk, posture relaxing just a touch.
“Is that all? You know I can appreciate your humor as well, Junebug.” A relaxed smile takes place on Null's otherwise neutral features.
Well, that’s what it looks like, however, you don’t really trust any expression this guy makes at you. “You know, that’s a good point! I always tend to think of you all serious because of our working relationship n’ all, must just be subconscious association haha.”
Null inclines his head in understanding, his expression sympathetic towards you.
“I apologize if I’ve seemed too harsh or reminded you of your guardian in some way but please, why don’t we spend the day together tomorrow, Junebug? It would be nice to have your company and counsel.”
You allow your physical self to grimace, really you cant help it, he had to bring up your ‘lusus’? He’s really trying to bring you down here. What are you going to do though, deny his ‘request’? Not a smart move.
“Ah, man, if it wouldn’t get in the way of your business, I’d be game! Might have to cancel some plans with Caorse, but no big deal- he’s lame anyway.” You honestly can’t help but snicker a little bit through your duplicate at the slight, but it just adds to your act so it doesn’t worry you.
“Yes, well, we can speak on Caorse another time, but I am sure he will understand.” Null moves around the side of his desk and settles down in his chair then gestures for the door, “I thank you for speaking with me, Jejune. I’ll eagerly await your company tomorrow.”
The smile on his face makes you sick-- you just know he’s gonna try and fuck with your head tomorrow. At least you made it out of this without him trying something like that, though, you really didn’t feel like pretending to get brainwashed today.
“Right, right, see you then! I’ll bring snacks!” your duplicate replies cheerily, stepping back out through the door and closing it before disappearing into thin air. Above, your third eye closes and you lift your hands to your face, rubbing your eyes in frustrated exhaustion.
You can’t help muttering to yourself as you smush your face further in exasperation, “Fuck, tomorrow is gonna suck real bad, isn't it...”

Hey, it's Fay!
Happy 700 bestie!!!! You know what time it is? Time for your milestone Ushijima fic! (I did take some inspiration from your pet name tag)
You and Ushijima are coworkers. You're not that close. You've got a pretty professional relationship, but he laughs whenever you make a joke and sometimes he'll bring you a drink when he knows you've been working hard.
And yeah, it's no secret, he's extremely handsome. He's solid and well-built under the work shirts that hug tight over his broad chest and shoulders. At the end of the workday, you might catch him with his sleeves rolled up, tie loose, biting his lip in concentration as he looks over some papers. You have a little workplace crush on him, but that's all it is, its never going to come to anything.
You're staying late one day looking over your work for the hundredth time.
"Oh." A deep voice says from the door to your office. "I thought I was the last one here." You look up to see Ushijima, brow furrowed.
You look at the clock on the wall. "Oh, god, it's later than I thought. I'd better get going."
He nods. "I was just leaving. I'll walk with you."
You gather your things and shoot him a smile as you walk past him to the elevators.
"So." He starts. You stop and turn to look at him. "Do you... have dinner plans?"
"Not really, why?"
He runs a hand through his hair in a reflexive gesture. "Well I just- I just thought maybe you and I could grab something to eat."
The two of you step into the elevator and the doors shut on the office. You don't want to make any assumptions. Coworkers got dinner all the time, it didn't have to mean anything. "What did you have in mind?"
He's silent. "I didn't really think it through this far."
That startles a laugh out of you. "Well there's a great pizza place near-"
The elevator jerks and you lose your balance, you fall into Ushijima and the two of you fall to the ground, you on top of him. It doesn't feel very awkward, or even strange. It's a weird thing to thing but you kind of fit like this, in this position. If he notices that you're using him as a mattress he doesn't say anything, he's too busy staring up at the lights, which have gone red. "The elevator stopped."
His eyes flicked back to you and you became increasingly aware that you were lying on top of him. You scrambled to roll off of him so that you were on your back next to him. "Sorry, Ushijima-"
He wraps a large hand around your wrist "Call me Wakatoshi. Please."
"Okay." You turn to smile at him. "Wakatoshi." You pull your phone out of your pocket and hold it above your head. "I've got reception."
The call with emergency services is short and unremarkable, and you come out of it with the news that you're going to have to wait at least an hour.
Ushijima, standing against the back wall,, lets out a dark chuckle, then a switch flips and he's laughing. He laughs with his whole body, his shoulders shake, he throws his head back, revealing the long line of his neck. He's infectious, suddenly the two of you are laughing and you have no idea why.
He's still laughing, he holds out a hand as if to steady himself, and it ends up on your shoulder, you feel the warmth of his touch, the gentleness of his hand. "I'm sorry, its just. I finally get up the courage to ask you to dinner, and you almost say yes. And then the elevator just breaks!"
That sets you off again, you're just thinking about how ridiculous this all is. You're both leaning on each other because you're both laughing too hard to hold yourselves up.
As the laughter winds down, something strikes
"Why did you have to get up the courage to ask me to dinner?" You say, slowly piecing out the answer in your head. Hope rises brightly in your chest.
He looks at you, neither of you have moved away. "I like you. A lot. I think you're amazing, and I know that you probably don't feel the same way, but-"
You grab him by the tie and pull him closer to you, halfway through the motion, he surges forward and your lips meet. He's so gentle. His hands find either side of your face. You tilt your head, press your lips together a little harder and he takes the direction, kissing you a little rougher. You nip at his lower lip and the sound he makes, a low growl, runs down your whole body, you feel it in your fingers, you feel it in your toes, you feel it pooling warmly in your stomach.
The two of you come up for air. Wakatoshi "I'm sorry."
You lean your foreheads together "why the hell would you be sorry for that?"
"This wasn't how I planned it, I was gonna take you to dinner, tell you all about how I felt.
You shrug. "I don't need it. I like you. I really do. Have for a while actually."
"Really?"
You smile. "I can't count how many times I've thought about you, about this. Every time you'd bring me something to drink, or smile when I said something stupid."
"What did you think about?"
"Well, mainly this," you lean up to place a slow, deep kiss on his lips. "And other things."
"What kind of other things?"
"Lots of things." Your hands reach down to unbuckle his belt. "You, earing me out under my desk..." you palm him through his boxers and he gasps. "Ripping those goddamn work shirts off you..."
You feel him hardening under your palm. He clears his throat. "I have. Um. There's a condom in my wallet." He rustles around in his pocket and retrieves it.
You lean your head back and raise an eyebrow as you take the foil square from his fingers. "Hoping for the best this morning?"
He shrugs. "I'm an optimist."
You step back and away from him, he moves to follow but you shake your head and push him backwards. He frowns, confused, but moves where you put him. You lean back against the side wall of the elevator. "Strip."
His eyes go dark with lust, and he wastes no time in ridding himself of his shirt and slacks. He stands there in his boxers.
"All the way."
He pulls them off and his cock springs free, hard and so much bigger than you'd expected.
"Jesus christ." You say before you can stop yourself, and he smiles.
"I know. You don't have to-" he moans into your mouth as you roll the condom on and stroke him slowly.
"Get on your back," you command. "I'm going to ride you, is that alright?"
"Yes!" He clears his throat. "Yes."
Your hand closes tighter around his cock and he whimpers. "Yes...?"
"Yes ma'am."
You could get off on those two words alone. He sits on his discarded clothes and looks up at you, he reaches under your pencil skirt to feel the fabric between your legs. "Oh." He says "you're wet."
He moves the fabric aside to slide a rough but tender finger across your folds.
You gently move his hand away and pull your panties off under your skirt to afford him better access. His hands find your hips, and he rolls up the skirt, leaving your legs bare. "Come here, baby," and he pulls you down toward him.
Together, you line each other up, and when you sink down onto him, you feel like he was made for you. You feel so full. You move apart and then sink together again. "Oh god. Ushi- fuck. You feel so good -toshi, oh!"
You roll your hips and he tosses his head back with a cry. You pick up the pace, and the sound get louder and more intense.
"Toshi," you moan. "I'm close."
His hand comes between you to circle your clit. Your feel yourself clenching around him with a shout, and him bucking up into you, coming, only moments later.
You collapse on to him, letting yourself appreciate how good it feels this time.
"So. That's a yes to dinner?"
You laugh and feel his heartbeat against your chest. "That’s a yes to dinner."
(I hope you enjoyed this! Congrats again!!! You deserve all this and more! (P.s. seeing my name on the masterlist made my heart so happy. I saw it and I thought I was hallucinating. I'm really happy to have made such an impact on you))

Chisaki Kai (nurse)x reader (reader)
{no quirk/simple au; just for know}
I don't know if some of you will remember but I wrote about a nurse Chisaki one month ago; I guess; and I did wanted to make one more writing about it, the person who requested this gave me permission since the original idea was from them so... yeah. Here it is.
Tumblr media
Aizawa and Yamada were chatting on the teacher's room along with Nemuri about how the students were or annoying them; mostly Aizawa; or being extremely good at their grades and their improvement.
When you entered the room the three stopped talking as Nemuri called you to thei chatty talk with a smile on her face.
Every teacher from U.A seemed to be in that room but out of everyone you were more closer to these three than anyone else between your colleagues. Okay, Toshinori was also one of them but he wasn't in the room, so... yeah.
"How is it going (L/N)? The second year is giving too much work?" Nemuri asked in excitement while Aizawa and Yamada greeted you.
"After mostly of them are waiting for their grades to come out? They are like tiny quiet little angels. Especially the ones who wouldn't shut up on my classes." You sayed while you picked your coffe and sitted along with the group.
"EH?! You're lucky you know that?!" Yamada yelled "My students won't stay quiet even if they went bad on their english tests!"
"Is mostly because you don't put order in your class." Aizawa muttered before he took a gulp from his own bitter drink while Hizashi gasped in offense.
"Mine's are a little bit aprehensive about their grades but still give me some work... did you expelled yours yet Aizawa?" Nemuri asked arching an eyebrow while smilling sarcastically at her friend, which scoffed in response.
"By the way; I know that doesn't fit the topic calm down before you three throw judgment comments at me." Hizashi chuckled while lifting his hands up before he looked at you and pointed "Is seriously that the teacher from 3-B was fired? The guy refuses to talk about it."
"Oh yeah... there was also a guard of ours that was fired." Aizawa pointed out before he looked at you, surprisingly, interested about the topic "Have any coments to do?"
Before you could even respond; Nemuri beat you to it as she hitted slightly the table with her two hands.
"Oh I know about it! They were caught by missy (L/N) here-" she elbowed you jokingly wiggling her eyebrows "Beating up that new nurse. I guess his name is... ah shit I forgot." She laughed before looking at you with that smirk, expecting you say it.
You sighed in false annoyance before taking a sip from your hot coffee.
"Chisaki, Nemuri. His name is Chisaki Kai."
You knew that she knew it her name, but all of this was just mocking because she already knew your... little information.
"You mean that man? Huh, he doesn't seem like the type to accept a punch without throwing one back... or even worse." Yamada shivered at remembering those golden eyes glaring at him whenever he would speak too loud when passing by the halls.
"He doesn't because he would probably have a few problems to deal with it later. We all know his story in here." Aizawa pointed out, throwing his little bag of coffe perfectly on the trash can not much far away from you guys.
You joked, lifting one of yours arms up with a hand curled up in a fist, saying a heartly 'Score!' Which Aizawa only sighed in dissapointment at your behaviour while the other two laughed.
"Speaking of which, you seem very close to that guy huh? How I wonder..." Yamada smirked before taking a bite from his lunch while Nemuri started to smirk devilish at you while poking your arm repeatedly.
Dear god...
"Yeah, I know him a bit, to not say much." You smiled at remembering him.
"A bit? You're always going to that infirmary." Aizawa pointed out, lifting one of his eyebrows questionably "Or you're just as clusmy as Midoriya or you're at the point of moving in to there."
You chuckled at the first comparation, Midoriya was sure one of the most popular students on the teachers, the boy was the sweetest thing but he... was constantly visiting the infirmary due to his injuries...
You already talked with him billions of times....
"Oh come on Shota! You're acting like you're her father or something!" Joked Hizashi receiving a glare from his friend "I know she is young but chill out!"
"That is true. You're the baby in here (Y/N)!" Nemuri joked while you groaned and frowned at the both.
You were indeed the youngest out of every teacher in the room, but still was just as brilliant as them and always had respect from your colleagues due to your intelligence and your gentle persona...
Although there was a lot of teasing... a lot.
"So~ I tell them? Or you do it yourself?" Nemuri singed while poking your arm again.
"Hush. There's no need for that in the first place..." You got up from your chair and went to throw the trash you made away, greeting with a smile another coworker close to the wall.
Taking advantage of you already being close to the snacks machine, you searched on your pocket for some coins to get something to eat.
"Tell what Nemuri?" Aizawa asked in irritation while Yamada poked his head between them also wanting to hear.
"Well, our little (Y/N) is-"
The door of the room suddenly oppened, catchingthe main three attention while some others already glared at the presence.
Chisaki not even spared a glance at neither of them and just looked around in search for what... who he was looking for.
"Oi! Who said you can enter in here?! This room is only for teachers!" One man yelled coming straight to Chisaki direction before he frooze dead on his pace as soon as Chisaki looked at him with threatening golden murderous eyes.
"In my face is very much evident how I care about this statement right? So get out of sign already." He said with his usual cold and cruel voice as he dodge the man and walked around the room.
"That guy gives me chills." Hizashi whispered while Nemuri nodded.
"Something about him doesn't feel right... and is not only because he is from the yakusa..." Aizawa muttered while discreet looking at Chisaki.
You were to absorved on getting a snack on the machine that you don't even knew why was everyone so silent, but you still wanted that candy bar so fuck it.
Chisaki spoted you and sighed in irritation yet relieve as hs started making his way towards you.
There you were...
Aizawa and Yamada notice the action of his and immediately went to get up to go over to you, but both hands of Nemuri pushed them back down with a smirk.
"What the hell?! The guy looks like he is going to kill her!" Hizashi whisper yelled while for the first time, he hated to admit it, Shota nodded in agreement at his friend comment.
"Chill out you two. Look." She whispered while pointing at the dark brow haired young man standing right behind you with serious eyes as you still tried to pick that damn candy bar.
"You're late." He said, a bit of annoyance and even the slightest hint of hurt in his voice, making you jump at the sudden manifestation of his voice, and so close to collaborate.
"You almost scared the shit out of me! Don't do that!" You said while placing a hand over your heart, which was beating like crazy after his actions.
"Watch your vocabulary; but don't change the topics. You were late, and I acted like a fool waiting and looking for you in this whole hell." He handed you a sandwich, neatly enveloped by plastic, with a glare before he looked in disgust at the machine in front of you both.
"Eat this, its yours anyway. We don't know what those things are made of."
"Ah I must had leaved on the infirmary! Thank you so much!" You smiled at him and gently pried your lunch from his hand.
He scoffed in response as a try to hide the pink on his covered cheeks.
"Wouldn't it make more sense if you let to eat latee since is already close to dinner?" You stopped midway from bringing your sandwich to your mouth after Chisaki numbly spoke.
"Uh... good idea." You smiled in embarrassment before you placed the plastic back and went to pick your purse and work folders.
He followed you right after, waiting despite his impatience while tapping his foot on the ground slightly.
"What the hell?" Yamada whispered while the woman nesides him smirked and whispered to both of her friends
"These two are dating for at least four months by now. Isn't it cute?"
"Cute? She is dating a sociopath ex criminal, and you found it cute?" Aizawa whispered monoustly.
"Hey. You didn't listened the stories that she tells me about him, so hush old man."
"... we have the same age."
"By you guys! See you on monday!" You waved at them while Chisaki hovered over your figurine like a hawks... subsconciously staring at them with his typical boreddom eyes.
You two left the room, leaving everyone; except Nemuri; with mouth agape or at least with wide eyes.
"NO WAY!" Yamada yelled before he lift himself from his chair and poked his head discretely out from the room, Aizawa and Nemuri following right after to sneak a peek.
The three gasped slightly at seing Chisaki, the man they knew for being a fearless and cruel individual and avoided any form of touch like he was the devil running away from the cross of Christ, snake his gloved hand discreetly in yours and hold while you giggled.
"My eyes are hallucinating or..?"
"Your eyes can't hallucinate Mic... but this is new."
"I told you two!"
Chisaki suddenly sended the three a one side death glare, making Yamada and Nemuri yelp in fear while Shota only deadpanned at his dumb friends.
He scoffed and returned his attention to you, muttering in oure irritation.
"Why you talk to those sick people anyway? They doesn't seem worth it not even of your presence."
"They are my coworkers and... friends Kai. I can't just ignore their existence."
"You should." He scoffed, soon sighing in relief at seing you both left the school grounds.
"Anyway, how was work?" You skiled up at him, receiving a sigh of his while he let go of your hand to place his own on his pocket.
"Disgusting, irritating and annoying. Nothing new."
"Hm I see." You mused with a smile.
"... you're free?" He asked, avoiding your curious eyes.
"Have some papers to assign and a few gardes and final tests to make and correct... why?"
"Does it take long?" You looked at your folders and winced at the huge amount...
"A little." You sadly commented, already feeling tired of only looking at them.
He sighed again with a hint of dissapointment before a idea popped into his head.
"You cleaned your appartment?" You deadpanned.
This is what you have to atture when your botfriend is a myshophobic/germophobic...
"Yeah? Only yesterday though, why?" You smiled nervously at his question before stopping by your car.
"...I, well..." he sighed in annoyance before spilling it out "If it is about biology or math I could help you a bit so this way you end things faster."
You tilted your head in confusion before finally getting what he truly meant, Chisaki wasn't difficult to understand especoally when he already was so close to you...
"I would like a extra hand if you wouldn't mind. Although there's nothing of yours in my place remember?"
"I can bring some clothes if you insist. Probably I will arrive by eight and a half or close to." He said monoustly while getting closer to you.
"Sounds perfect love. See you then." You smiled up at him, catching the hint of a tiny smile hrowing in his face.
"Here." He caressed one side of your face affectionately before placing a kiss on your lips affectionately right after he lowered down his mask.
"Love you." You whispered gently seing his smirk and the playfull roll of his eyes.
You distance yourself from him to emter your car before giving him a last kiss and a 'Bye my handsome, hi and bye Kurono!'
... wait. Kurono?
"Never saw you the type of getting affection neither giving it Kai." Smirked his friend behind him, luckily dodging a punch from Chisaki.
"Relax relax it was only a comment!" Exclaimed the man lifting his hands up in surrender.
"I should cut your tongue out after this." He growled before making his way to his home by walking.
"Gonna tell Pops about it?"
"If I don't tell he would discover anyway."
"That's true. Can you believe it there's people on the house betting when you're going to lose your virginity?" He choked on his own saliva at his indecent friend's comment.
"Pardon me what the actual hell?!"
"Yeah. Irinaka betted three more months."
"... I'm going to kill anyone included on this... no exceptions..." he growled before hurrying up his pace while Hari mumbled from behind to himself.
"Hopefully he doesn't discover that I betted one more year."

Chapter 6.5
"The idiot still isn't answering his phone? Is he working late or something?"
This would be such a simple answer and I wish I could just smile and say, "Sure! That is exactly what's keeping him!" However, I know that this is a lie and I have never been good at lying. I twitch when I lie, my lips betray me and form the most devious grin, and my voice sweetens itself to the point of me sounding like a cartoon character from the sixties. "No, he isn't working late. I walked by the café. It's closed, everyone is gone," I explain to Lyric, slapping my hand onto my knee to keep my leg from shaking. My friend purses his lips, a sign that he was either really irritated or really confused. (Good chance of it being both.) The two of us were in his studio apartment, plopped down on his couch, staring blankly at the muted television in the middle of the room. I came to Lyric's place about five minutes ago and caught him in the middle of watching the movie adaptation Hairspray for the thirtieth time. He invited me in and offered me a pop, but I declined. Caffeine was not what I needed right now. I was already jittery enough. Lyric lifts up his arms in a thoughtful gesture. "Have you tried calling his coworker?" I throw him a pointed look. "Why would I have Jasmine's phone number?" It's ridiculous for him to even assume I would have it. "I don't know. She's cute." Is he joking? I can't tell if he's joking. "Not my type. Or yours, I thought." I throw him a questioning look. Lyric chuckles, taking a sip out of a cherry colored bottle of pop. "Hey, I'm pretty open minded." In all the time I've known Lyric, he has not once actually showed any interest in another human being. When I say this, I don't mean he doesn't have romantic feelings for anyone. I mean he literally finds people the most boring beings on the planet, which is why I believe he enjoys acting so much. Up on stage, he isn't surrounded by people anymore, he says, but actors. Actors are not just people in his eyes. What they are is something so much larger with so many different layers to them. Actors are the only people he can discover any intrigue in. "Anyways," I huff, changing the subject back to a more pressing matter than Lyric's so-called open mindedness, "if Jimmy calls or shows up or you see him somewhere for some reason, tell me please? That way I will know he didn't get stabbed thirty-seven times in the chest or hit by a bus." "Why is it always a bus with you? Why can't people be hit by cars anymore?" Lyric points out, getting up from his sitting position and following me towards the front door. I stand there for a second, trying very hard to let my worry go and laugh along with him. "Jimmy is too sly to get hit by a car. If he's gonna be crushed, it'll have to be something huge," I reason, rubbing my lips together. They are so dry. When I see Jimmy, I'm gonna kick his butt for taking my lip balm. My friend reaches around my body and unlocks the door for me. "Jimmy is probably fine," Lyric assures me, his hand on my shoulder. He gives me a tight squeeze, an odd show of affection from the man who hates physical contact. I have to pause when he does this and stare, which he returns with a small smile. Lyric's smiles are so rare. He knows how much I love them. "Don't get all paranoid, man. Knowing that loser, he's probably in the drama room having dinner with his mama." "Why does having dinner with his mom make him a loser? His mom is really cool," I point out. I've never understood why kids are so anti-parent. Yes, my parents weren't perfect and spent eighty percent of their time nagging at me, but I never felt a need to shove them away. I was never ashamed of them, even if they might have been ashamed of me. During the period of time after I came out as pan to them and the day I announced I wanted to go to Broadway, they seemed a little iffy on how they felt about me. We cleared it up, though, and they went back to loving me unconditionally after the initial shock wore off. A group of blonde girls stroll by in matching purple dresses, trilling about some band they were going to see live. One of them, apparently, won free tickets off the radio and another splurged to get them a limo. Kudos for them. "His moms are pretty chill," Lyric agrees, setting his hip against the doorframe. "I'll see you tomorrow for rehearsal before class, Alto. If I receive any contact from the alien life force we know as Jimmy John, I'll let you know." "You are so weird," I laugh, listening to the sound of the door clicking shut behind me.
------*
The dorm is in an oddly tranquil state when I return home sometime around midnight. Even though Lyric instructed that I don't let paranoia overcome me, I couldn't help but wander the school grounds for a few hours. I even walked all the way to Jimmy's favorite restaurant about a mile away from the school. Sometimes he goes there in the middle of the night to get some cheap noodles. That actually has become his routine during finals. Patricia, the owner, loves him for all the business he brings her. I even went as far as to actually call his mother when all else failed. She told me that she saw him at around three and hadn't heard from him since. To avoid freaking her out, I assured her he was probably just practicing somewhere secluded, wanting privacy. There's no sign of Jimmy anywhere. No call, no text, no email... Absolutely nothing. Something happened, I know it. I can feel it in my stomach every single time I think about him; this overwhelming, aching dread repeatedly splashes over me like a bucket of blood. Wherever Jimmy is, he isn't safe. I'm almost up the first flight of stairs when I consider calling the police. This might be nothing, but I refuse to take a chance. If Jimmy really is in trouble and I did nothing to help him, I will never be able to forgive myself. "Hey, Alto!" I hear someone call. I look up and find the sweet smile of Edda waiting for me. She is worn down and borderline weak looking, but still manages to be the brightest star in the room. "You were out late." I wave her off. "Hi, Edda. I was out looking for Jimmy," I explain, playing it off as if this were nothing. There is no reason to worry anybody else. "What were you doing? Partying?" "Yikes, me?" she chuckles, slapping her hand to her chest. Edda has lived down the hall from Jimmy and I since she started here last year. The two of us have a minor friendship made up of mostly childish banter and musical references. Also, she is one of the only people who does not look ready to barf when I make a terribly wonderful pun. (For example, H-2-Oh No! When I used this on my neighbor, Madison, she looked ready to slam my head in her door. Would I have blamed her? Probably not.) It's nice having a friend who doesn't treat me like the freak I know I am. I appreciate her more than I appreciate Jimmy sometimes and that is saying mounds about our simple contact. Edda pauses on the stairs before me and gestures to the tag on her shirt. "My staff kind of bailed last minute at the paper, so I'm pretty much on my own. I just needed to run back here and pick up some photographs I forgot for the front page." Ever since the beginning of the year, Edda has been the head of our school's newspaper. She is the one who compiles it all together, writes editorials, finds leads for her team of three (counting the resident cartoonist, Kam) to follow, prints everything out, and sets up the newspaper stand in the main hall. "That sucks," I say. "It keeps me busy," Edda shrugs, adjusting a strap over her arm. "Well, I best get going. Nice seeing you, Alto." "You too," I nod, watching her descend the stairs and exit through the side door. Just as I reach into my pocket, I feel my phone start to buzz. Finally, Jimmy has messaged! I pull out my device and see his name printed across the screen. Thank god, Jimmy! I hit answer and let out a breathe of relief. "Jim-Jam, you scared me to death! Where have you..." "Heads up!" the phone cackles and I'm propelled forwards. The stairs thud beneath me with each roll until I'm at the bottom, my body trembling with pain. I lift my hands and cradle my head, attempting to recollect myself. My phone lies beside me in about three different parts. For that to have happened, the fall must have been pretty intense. "Why?" I choke out, lifting my head. The attacker is nowhere to be seen. "W-where'd you go?" I try to get up but my body refuses. Every one of my limbs feels ten times its size. I can't even move my left leg. Did I break it? Could I have broken it after only falling down half a flight of stairs? A horrible thought strikes me quite suddenly and I feel bile in my throat. What if I was right and Jimmy was hurt? Maybe the same person who did this to him is doing this to me. My shoulder stings. There's something pricking it. Before I can look, what I assume is a bag is thrown over my head. I'm engulfed in darkness for a few seconds. I don't fight it. I lay there and wait for it take me away.
