one pet peeve of mine in founders-era fanfics is when madara's whole,,,, everything is solved by izuna just being there
like maybe this is just me, but i don't think izuna surviving or even coming around to the idea of a truce with the senju would've been enough to keep madara from the path he ended up on.
izuna wasn't the reason he left - he was definitely part of madara's issues, but he wasn't the why. even if izuna had stuck around, and even if that had been enough to keep the uchiha clan from losing their faith in madara, i think he would've still come to realize konoha wasn't what he'd hoped it would be.
best case scenario, i think izuna's survival might've caused madara to stick around a bit longer, but i don't think it would've lasted. honestly, even then, that might've just made the inevitable break-up between madara and hashirama even more agonizing (particularly for izuna)
it's a fun idea to play around with for sure, but frankly i don't think canon!madara could've ever been 'saved' from that path. certainly not if the hidden village system ended up getting set up in the same way.
#naruto#naruto shippuden#meta#uchiha madara#uchiha izuna#senju hashirama#from the moment madara was born into that world he was doomed to walk that path i think#most fics that have izuna live and madara still leave that i've seen keep izuna's death as the catalyst. but moved down a bit#which i understand#but imo it'd be more interesting to explore how izuna would feel about his brother's choice#bc as much as people like to view izuna as like a super big bro supporter. he really REALLY isn't#his loyalty is to the uchiha clan#we're explicitly shown that if forced to pick between the clan's interests and madara's dream izuna will pick the clan#both as a kid when he and tajima fought tobirama and butsuma#and as an adult when he used his last words (or the last words hashirama ever heard from him) to further that divide#the clan chose konoha over madara. and i think izuna - as against the idea as he was to begin with - would've also#not bc he doesn't love his brother. bc his loyalty is and always will be to the uchiha clan#hell madara was the same until he was physically forced to stop#first by hashirama trying to use his own life as a bid for peace between their families#and later by the uchiha clan's rejection of madara himself#madara is like. if the doomed hero trope was the antagonist#having said all of that zetsu was never going to let izuna live bc he needed madara to get the eternal mangekyou sharingan#and izuna was the only one of his siblings who lived long enough to see him get the regular sharingan. so it had to be him#but like i said even if that weren't the case it wouldn't have mattered#madara believed that the end - the world of dreams - would justify the means. if izuna hadn't given up his eyes freely...#well. it's not like people didn't end up thinking madara had taken them anyway#i don't think even naruto could've saved madara really#the only thing anyone could've saved him from was dying alone#which is what would've happened if everyone except him was in the infinite tsukuyomi when kaguya came back#and honestly even tho all three of his deaths had other people there (hashirama then obito then hashirama again)

Hi rae!! The new chapter was like a punch in the gut and yes i say this after every chapter u can sue me
So yes. Sirius fades away every passing chapter i'm feeling so sad on his behalf my poor baby :(( him not accepting when remus offers to go to his place because he thinks he cannot bear that intimacy at the moment and also him not being able to feel a spark even when he was with his moony :((((
And remus not being able to bear the sight of s when he seemed hollow despite it was actually probably the highest point for s in a while... Like yes remus is the king of denial and he might pretend there's nothing substantial between them but he cares so much and it shows between his cracks and it's devastating
Tumblr media
Like this part rly broke me a little, the way he turns to reg for support even though he doesn't like him, bc maybe he thinks reg is the only one who could understand and back him up? He risks the ultimate mission bc he saw sirius at his low™ and it only rly gets worse for sirius since they spend the night together. And he knows but he can't even do something about it. And to think that the sirius he's so worried about isn't even his sirius bc his sirius betrayed his trust when the trust in question took maybe years to build. His fight for his feelings, the contrast between his views and the things sirius has done, his final acceptance of sirius, his confession, all thrown away in a night. Also the irony that the betrayal of sirius came from a place of loyalty to the group and to the mission in a way, when the initial distrust of remus was bc he thought s was the opposite of these traits. In his eyes sirius finally changed, but also that change was the thing that split them apart <//3
And sirius accepted risking his life for the mission even though he can't really feel what he once felt for the group, he can't really understand (even if it makes sense to him that he would do the things he is shown doing) bc he has no recollection of actually living through the past years. And despite that he still risks his life because sacrificing himself for his brother and the people he might have loved seems alright to him? Even though he cannot remember loving those people? Even though he hasn't seen his assumed dead brother in years? It has always been loyalty for sirius and it's tearing me apart :((
So thank you for the new chapter it's great in an emotional torture-y kind of way so naturally i loved every second of reading it <33 hope life is being kind and delicate with you <3
hiiii love these little chats of ours xx
i love writing a character spiraling what can i say...especially love when it happens 2 s i want him dead inside etc...would apologize but i'm not very sorry am i xx
& literally was giggling & kicking my feet writing that scene w r lol i was like hehe s is gonna see a memory of him being devastated...they will never actually talk about it in person of course <3 perfect...
& yes u get it like. the irony of it all...s becoming a better person being both the thing that results in love & simultaneously erases it (literally!). i love when relationships r doomed sooo fun!! & yeah him accepting this mission now is like. partially that loyalty but at the same time coming from the fact that like. much of his past self-preservation has been eaten thru by his rapidly deteriorating emotional state...like before he was scared of dying but more scared of his loved ones dying. now he's still scared of his loved ones dying but is also like. well maybe it wouldn't even be so bad if i died...
anyway. u r welcome of course ty 4 the kind words etc <3 <3

Can I know more about Killer, Horror, Dust, Cross, and Blue relationship like how they became part of the gang and any personality changes?
answering this will either take two posts or a read more bc i do NOT do things by halves.
*Edit; I’ve chosen the read more option. Y’all get the backstories in a later post.
I “recently” went over a bit about Killer here. So for now, I'll go over Dust, Horror, Cross and Blue.
Horror: gentle giant. He just wants to feel included. Due to his head injury, he struggles with frequent memory loss and speaking verbally. He uses a notebook to keep himself on track, but his most successful plans are usually thought of and executed on the fly. He's really reliable in a pinch. Has good instincts. Out of the group, he's the most likely to be underestimated by outsiders. His love language is cooking for others but he's not picky about what he eats himself. Hates loud high-pitched noises. (screaming specifically.)
Dust: quiet brooding guy. Outwardly he seems to be the most laidback and apathetic of the group. In reality, he’s restless and moody. The most likely of the group to wander off spontaneously with no purpose in mind. Doesn’t talk much but he knows his way around chemistry. A competent engineer. Makes his own fireworks. Hard to say whether he's introverted or not but if he wants to be left alone you won't' find him, and if he wants company he will tail you like a shadow. more talkative in a group setting, strangely enough.
Blue: enthusiastic, boisterous, and incredibly earnest. He wears his whole heart on his sleeve. He doesn't believe in committing theft, crime in general, or even trespassing. He's actually a little scared of trespassing. secretly, he thinks criminals are brave (but stupid) for trespassing. Can’t lie to save his life. Not that the skill matters much when he lives with two empaths. Cross: introverted, defensive, reluctant to let down his guard, and enough of a workaholic to challenge Rem for his title. Cross needs a structured routine to function. He takes his duties very seriously and generally goes about things as if he has something to prove. (He doesn’t but he hasn’t realized that yet.) -On the Group Dynamic- Dust and Killer get along well. Most of the time. They have a lot of things in common. How they met the Apple twins. The tragic circumstances of their respective AUs. The fact Blue reminds them of Papyrus… do not bring up Papyrus or the Human, on this note. They’ve gotten into bitter violent confrontations over what happened with their brother. Don’t push it. Horror is good friends with Blue, actually. Blue is conscientious of Horror’s intolerance for loud noises and makes an effort to use his indoor voice in his company. Horror tolerates Blue’s erm… creative meal ideas in turn. And they mutually bond over their shared interest in food prep, wordplay, TV Drama, and baking competitions. (Molt, Horror and Blue set aside a date/time to watch the latest episodes when they air. (Cross sometimes joins them as long as they don’t make a big deal over it.) Molt can’t see the screen ofc, but he’s able to experience the show through how Horror and Blue react to it, the occasional narration from both of them, and ofc, the verbal drama of it all.)
Blue’s relationship with the rest of the group is complicated. He knows he’s the odd one out because he is ideologically opposed to Rem’s methods. At the same time, he begrudgingly accepts that sometimes for the greater good, you have to make sacrifices. (He doesn’t like it and is always looking for a better option anyway.) He sticks around out of loyalty to his friend and because he firmly believes the group needs a firm but kind hand. He knows they’ve all been hurt in some way. And if no one else will look out for this group of renegade thieves and scoundrels, he will!
Cross tries his hardest to get along with exactly no one because he wants to keep everyone at arm’s length but ironically this has the opposite effect. Killer treats him like a surrogate little brother. Dust simply doesn’t give a shit as long as Cross is a team player. Horror fusses over him. He has an open invitation to join Blue's workout routine whenever. Rem trusts him. And worst of all, he wants to spill his guts out to Molt whenever something even remotely happens, and that can only mean he feels safe here. And that is terrifying to Cross. He has a home now and that is the worst thing that’s ever happened to him.

ROUND 3A, MATCH 1 OUT OF 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Includes the original 1950 animated film, the 2002 sequel Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, and the 2007 sequel Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.
**Includes Grimm Brothers and Charles Perrault tales.
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Disney Animated:
she is very iconic, she is super kind and has a beautiful dress
Submitting specifically because Cinderella III: A Twist in Time has lived rent-free in my head ever since I was a small child.
This Cinderella is most young (western) peoples introduction to this very story. Cinderella is so hopeful and by getting one small magical adventure, her whole life changes for the better. She is skilled and inspires such loyalty with her kindness that it’s hard to dislike her for any reason she gives. I’ve always been jealous of her ball hairdo too.
Walt Disney put all he had into this movie. And his favorite animation was the dress transformation scene. There’s a reason she is often front and center on the Princess group promotions.
she is the original. to me. probably the first exposure to cinderella for a solid chunk of people alive & on tumblr today. she is just a perfect encapsulation of everything that cinderella is, even if she's become warped in the public consciousness. also i'm pretty sure she's the reason why the glass slippers are so predominant in more recent retellings bc she is simply so iconic. 100/10 no notes 💜
She's maybe not the OG OG but she was one of the first animated Disney princesses and strangely enough it doesn't stop her from having an amazing personality. She's literally a slave but keeps being a nice person, forgiving and always doing her best. And the sequels absolutely didn't ruin her character. She's a sweet girl who tries to fit in but who's loyal to the person she is and who tries to change things always in a cute and sweet way to show people it's not that hard. She literally forgave Anastasia and tried to help her after all she did to her (the scene where the step-sisters destroy her dress still is terrifying to me)... she's awesome and deserves more recognition honestly...
(Mod's note: the following submitted specifically for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, but I condensed the animated movies into one entry.) No she is not the same as the original Cinderella of 1950. This girl’s biggest chance was unfairly snatched away from her. When the Prince was brainwashed she was enough to get him to double take. She was so Right that their connection over powered magic. And she had to be rescued from a ship. And was almost crushed within a pumpkin! And finally had to expose another imposter, who turned out to be just another victim of Lady Trameine. This Cinderella fought harder for her love because she knew what True Love was like and she still was able to forgive those who asked for it.
(Mod's note: the following submitted specifically for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, but I condensed the animated movies into one entry.) Listen yes it's the same Cinderella from 1950 but she has an arc in this one! It's Disney's greatest film!!
Listen I love them both but the animated Cinderella definitly shine in every single movie she has. And she has 3.
Vote for Cinderella because she deserves it and is still underrated in the Disney Princesses Franchise when she survived so much (ab*se... Lady Tremaine still terrifies me and she doesn't even have magical powers except when she steals the magic wand in Cinderella 3) Also one vote for Cinderella is one jump outside the window Henri is ready to do. Yes it's real.
Cinderella / Aschenputtel / Cendrillon:
I love all Cinderellas but the Grimm version refocuses the story away from magical aid and transforms it into a story of the ability of grief to conversely power hope. ashenputtel weeps over the grave of her dead mother so much a beautiful tree grows out,  with the voice of her mother guiding her and giving her the gown and shoes that ultimately get her to the ball. It turns Cinderella from a kind of passive receiver to a woman whose own love, in a way, saves her—her grief cycles into new joys, her love for the dead changes her for a new life. Idk it’s just a tremendously hopeful, haunting story, grounded in sorrow and love as our ways of guiding into the future.
Her slippers aren't made of glass, thankfully. Also, her step-sisters are blinded by birds who like Cinderella, apparently, on the day of the wedding. (I had to check this, as I knew the sisters had parts of their feet cut off to fit the shoe, but I was sure the mother had something bad happen, but there was no mention of a comeuppance for her. I found it on grimmstories.com, so I'm not sure how accurate to the original it is.)

Sorry if this request is too horrible. Is it possible for a reader who is completely broken morally, because no one has ever fallen in love with them or shown signs of attention? (Kuai, Fujin and Hanzo are in love with the reader)
Nah im fine with angst! But its gonna be a positive outcome bc in this house we value healing no matter how messy or long it takes!
Reader who feels broken from lack of love and affection in life.
Sub-zero/kuai:
Tumblr media
He can emphasize with you to a degree. His upbringing in the lin kuei reinforced this idea that love is an obstacle, that the only thing that matters is the mission and loyalty. But kuai always knew even from a young age that love only strengthens the bond of loyalty, he loved his fellow brothers in arm and his blood brother bi-han no matter how much the lin kuei tried to whip it out of him.
But he understands that he had the luxury of having someone. You did not, in a different way your path had given you so many trials that would break weaker wills. But you were not strong, you were tired, hollow. Kuai saw your broken soul and was reminded of his brother, bi-han. But unlike bi-han who returned from the grave shrouded in darkness. You were well alive, physically.
Kuai tries his best to give you advice. He shows you that love doesn't mean a romantic attraction, you can find love in family and friendship. And you develop a strong friendship with kuei during your time together doing missions for the lin kuei and protecting earthrealm. Despite the aloof coldness of the cryomancer, he has given you a warmth you never even fathomed feeling. Even in the bitter cold of snow, the Aurora borealis reflects a light that brings heaven to earth.
Fujin:
Tumblr media
While he has not seen many mortals as his brother raiden has trained, he has seen enough of what the trials and tribulations of mortal kombat can do to even the toughest of warriors. But this, this was something that made the winds stand too still.
Fujin could feel how lonely your soul was, the despair and hopelessness. Fujin not only wanted to give you hope out of the goodness of his being, but saw as a great test of his own wisdom. The wind god is persistent in showing you that life is so mysterious and expansive that it's impossible that there is not at least one being out there that loves you. That love is complex and is something that not only brings you joy, but peace and growth. Fujin knows that this will take time for you to understand, let alone get used to.
Along the way your relationship with fujin developed and grew, while you still felt broken, you also felt the itch that comes with healing. And while it was frustrating, it was also rewarding. Soon you realized you did love again, it came so naturally you didn't think twice. You fell in love with fujin, because fujin loved you in the same way. Working together, fighting alongside each other, it felt as if you and fujin had been together for centuries. The moment you two realize while holding hands in a tree relaxing, it was unceremonious. Because the moment you two realized, you shrugged it off because it just felt right. And sometimes love is just so mundane you could only ever realize it until it was gone.
Scorpion/hanzo hasashi:
Tumblr media
The grandmaster knew how you felt, although for him it was more of what he lost, unlike you who had never known. Hanzo once thought he could never love the same way he loved harumi, satoshi. But then he met you, destiny had made your paths cross. Another shirai ryu trainee, who excelled quickly. But hanzo could sense that your passions burned steadily like eternal embers, never catching flame.
For what he had loved and lost, he found anew in growing his clan back from the ashes. But for you, you needed to tended to, your flames stoked and sparked into fire. For fleeting moments during times of meditation together after training hard, you felt a flame of admiration for grandmaster hanzo become more than one has admiration for a master. And for hanzo hasashi, this feeling was mutual.
Perhaps the heated kiss he started during one training session was inappropriate. But you returned the feeling, this warmth you had sparked something in you. When hanzo pulled away apologizing, you missed the warmth of his body, the meaning behind his lips against yours. You knew then and there that this fire kept you alive, for the first time you felt alive. And maybe it was the adrenaline of sparring, maybe the sudden shock of your master kissing you. But you didn't care to overthink, you threw yourself back into his arms and returned the kiss. To others this looked almost fairytale like, but to the two of you? You were just relieved to find a place of belonging. Regardless if these feelings developed further, the passionate love you shared during the moment was very much real.
(Hope you're doing ok anon! Remember to go easy on yourself and take things one at a time. And love isn't defined like in the movies, its a complicated thing to describe what love is since it can be many things at once)

Dadbastian Week: Different Kids
I was not very polite with this one, and also I need to explain myself for this one bc I made an AU just for this one fic.
The Needed Prelude: It's an AU where Sebastian has both Phantomhive twins. How? I have no idea. R!Ciel is just Ciel. O!Ciel is... unnamed sonboy. Sebastian serves O!Ciel, but R!Ciel kinda isn't his business. R!Ciel is the Earl Phantomhive, but O!Ciel snatched up the Guard Dog gig out from under his feet bc he wants his revenge. R!Ciel doesn't know Sebastian is a demon, he's just chilling and has no idea a revenge plot is happening.
Needed Content Warning: Mentions of the twins backstory. Also favoritism. That's all.
Ok I'm done talking now, it's for @dadbastianweek2023
Have fun, God knows I had fun. I love messy things.
Favoritism
A proper Phantomhive butler did not pick favorites. He serves all members of the household with equal attentiveness, as anything less would be highly unprofessional.
… That being said, Sebastian had a favorite Phantomhive twin.
It was his twin, obviously. The fact that the boy had a contract with him was definitely a factor, but it was far from the only reason that he held the younger of the two in an esteem higher than that of his brother.
Another, much bigger factor is that his own charge caused significantly less trouble for him. The boy was quiet, and when he did need to stir up something for the sake of his revenge it was always the type of mess that Sebastian enjoyed getting tangled up in. The thought had even crossed his mind once or twice that the youngest Phantomhive boy really would make one hell of a demon.
Ciel Phantomhive was a different story. He was loud. He enjoyed pulling silly little pranks on his much more serious brother, disagreeing entirely with the idea that they were both no longer children. It was the kind of behavior that made Sebastian scoff, realizing what his young master had meant when he expressed to Her Majesty some doubts about his older brother’s ability to inherit their father’s secondary title.
Ciel Phantomhive as the Queen’s guard dog. The thought of it almost made Sebastian laugh.
Still, the older twin wasn’t without his charms. He was gregarious, easy to like, and arguably an agreeable young man (though a bit of a people-pleasing doormat if you asked Sebastain for his honest opinion). He really did make a fine Earl Phantomhive, especially considering that his skills in mathematics weren’t entirely hopeless and that he didn’t cower in fear at the thought of a public event.
Sebastian tried not to let his distaste show, but it was hard sometimes. His own master was so clever, something that had been a driving force behind Sebastian’s loyalty remaining with him. He had such a razor-sharp intellect that made even a demon sit at the edge of his seat and watch excitedly for his next move. Compared to such a cunning little mind, Ciel Phantomhive just looked…
Dull.
It wasn’t as if this opinion was shared only by himself. The Young Master also seemed exhausted by his brother’s antics.
“He thinks his job is so hard!” The boy would groan.
“Indeed, if saddled with your position, he would crack under the pressure.“ Sebastian would agree before looking up, his face showing no remorse. “If you pardon my saying so.”
The truth was that the new Earl Phantomhive was stuck in the past, trying far too hard to salvage the past from the wreckage with childish pranks and rude behavior behind the closed doors of his own manor. The worst part of all of it is that whenever he acted in such a manner, he would look to Sebastain of all people for approval. And Sebastain was not one to find such antics endearing.
Yes, the only words to describe Ciel Phantomhive were as follows; Sentimental, painfully unfunny, and so very dull.
So dull he had yet to notice a demon living under his own roof.
---
“Sebastian?” A voice shocked him out of his thoughts, nearly causing him to drop the dish he was wiping down into the empty basin. He turned, his reaction entirely dependent on who exactly was standing in the kitchen doorway.
The shaggy blue-black hair didn’t tell him much, so he moved his eyes down to the eyes. Only one was visible, with the other hidden away behind a sensible black eyepatch. His face softened.
His twin.
“I didn’t even hear you coming, Young Master.” He said with a gentleness that made it all sound like a laugh. He supposed he must have been too wrapped up in his thoughts to feel the boy’s soul approaching him. It happened from time to time, though he did try not to be so careless.
He glanced down at the blue suit the boy wore, raising an eyebrow at it. “Did we not decide on the green one for today?”
His master shrugged, looking down at the floor in what Sebastain assumed was shame. “I spilled my tea. Tanaka helped me change.”
Sebastian tutted softly, turning his attention back to the dish in his hand. “You must be more careful, My Lord.”
Something about his phrasing made his charge tense up, but everything seemed to do so nowadays. ‘Teenagers’, Sebastain thought with the slightest hint of disdain as he waited for the boy to say whatever it was he had needed so badly that he walked all the way down to the kitchen rather than just calling for him.
“... Am I your favorite?”
Well… that wasn’t quite what he expected.
“... Pardon?” This time, the plate was set carefully at the bottom of the wash basin as Sebastain turned to give his full attention to the young boy.
“Am I your favorite?” He asked again with more confidence. “Who do you like more, me or Ciel?”
The question was so uncharacteristically bold that it startled an unbecoming bark of a laugh out of Sebastain’s throat. “You, of course.”
There really was no need for hesitation. It’s not as if he could lie to the boy. Better to just spit out the answer if the question was going to be so simple and of such little consequence.
His young master looked horrified by his answer. In a way, Sebastian could not blame him for such a reaction. It did not bode well if your actions earned you the favor of a demon. And indeed, he most certainly deserved the favor he received.
“What is this about, anyway?” Sebastian teased lightly. “Have you fallen victim to a sudden bout of insecurity?”
His young charge’s lip quivered, so the boy bit it to keep it still. Sebastian paused for a moment, wondering if maybe he had been a bit too careless with the topic at hand. After all, humans were very attached to their senses of morality. No matter how skewed it may be.
“As if you would care.” The boy muttered with such bite that Sebastain felt he had really earned the guard dog title. Sebastian went to open his mouth, maybe say something to mend the situation slightly, but the boy was already gone by the time he mustered the pathetic “ah” noise in protest.
Well…
That seemed like a dilemma in the making.
---
“Sebastian!” This time the voice that called his name pulled him in a way that was more tangible, yanking his movements to a stop as he felt his master’s presence grow strong and irritable. “Sebastian!”
“Yes Young Master, what is it?” He turned, watching the boy run up to him in his… green suit? “The green one is back?”
The younger Phantomhive twin;s scowl wavered just long enough to show his confusion. “What are you-” He growled in frustration, and only then did Sebastian notice the hand placed firmly over his left eye. “Where is Ciel?”
Sebastian looked confused now. “If I remember correctly, the Earl Phantomhive was meant to be out on business today.”
“Well he isn’t,” The boy growled. “And that wasn’t an answer.”
Sebastian’s brow furrowed even more, if that was at all possible. “I assure you, I have not seen him as far as I’m aware.”
“Well he has to be-” Speak of the devil and he shall appear, rounding the corner sharply and slamming a hand right in his brother’s chest.
His younger brother coughed hollowly on impact, forcing Sebastian to bend down and watch closely for an asthma attack as the boy held a fist against where he had been struck.
Once the coughing subsided, he uncurled his fist and showed Sebastain the eyepatch that lay crumpled up in his palm. “You ASS-”
Rather than scold the younger brother for his language, Sebastian lifted his head to demand the older apologize immediately for his behavior.
That is until he saw the back of Ciel’s blue jacket.
He hummed curiously as his charge quickly covered up his eye with the patch and demanded help tying it.
So, Ciel Phantomhive was in fact capable of manipulation.
It indeed was a day full of surprises.
---
“You’re in the wrong study.” That was the only greeting Sebastian got as he opened the door to Ciel’s personal workroom. He had to admit, if upsetting him so was the only way to keep him hard at work even after the sun had gone down, then he should make a habit of being even less sensitive.
No, that wouldn’t do. This much conflict would only get in his way as time went on.
He smiled. “No, I believe I’m in the right place.”
There was no response.
“... I bought hot chocolate,” He tried again. “With cinnamon and cream.”
Still nothing.
Sebastian sighed, placing the cup down in the boy’s line of sight. He supposed he was going to need to be even more direct than he had thought (yet another reason why the other brother was preferable. Bribery was still an option for minor blunders).
“I owe you an apology, My Lord.” He said sympathetically. “It was wrong for me to say such things, even in jest.”
Of course he hadn’t been joking. But technically he hadn’t said that he meant it as a joke either.
Ciel’s brow furrowed, and Sebastian wondered if he was about to witness the elder brother’s version of the famous Phantomhive rage he had already seen on full display so many times.
He hadn’t once ever considered that such a face could be the prelude to tears.
He was too stunned to speak as those glassy blue eyes turned to him, filled with some type of betrayal that Sebastian hadn’t felt was warranted until he saw it firsthand. “Why do you hate me?!”
“I-” He cleared his throat, trying to gain his composure once more. “I assure you My Lord, I don’t hate you.”
How could he? Children were too innocent by nature to truly hate. He just so happened to not find much value in innocence.
“You don’t like me!” Ciel yelled, and Sebastian had to bite his cheek. That part unfortunately was true. “You adore him! When he calls, you answer! When he speaks, you applaud! B-but when I do it, you just- you just-”
Something dug its claws into Sebastian’s spine. Something that seemed like shame. He really hadn’t meant to make his lack of affections so noticeable.
“My Lord,” He knelt down to what would have been eye level if Ciel wasn’t doing everything in his power to not even look at him. “You must understand, your brother sometimes requires special attention. He’s been through a lot-”
“So have I!” Ciel cut him off with a cry painful enough to make even a demon feel guilt burrow into the pit of his stomach.
In his three years as the Phantomhive butler, he had never even considered it. Of course he had been aware that the boys had both been taken the night their parents had been killed. He knew logically that they had both taken the same route from start to finish, the only difference in their memory being what happened in those last few minutes before the horror was over.
When his charge woke in the night, thrashing, screaming, vomiting, clinging to the nearest source of warmth for salvation, Sebastian rushed to his side and held him tight until the memories faded into black and he was brought back to the land of the living, shaking like a newborn deer.
Who did that for Ciel? Did anyone do that for Ciel? Or had he been forced to fight his way through those fits all alone?
Sebastian tried to swallow the sand-like shame in his throat. Perhaps he had misjudged the boy’s resolve.
Slowly as to not startle Ciel, Sebastian reached into his breast pocket and extended a handkerchief to the sobbing boy in front of him.
Lord only knows how pitiful his face must have looked for Ciel to decide to throw himself into Sebastian’s chest instead. He allowed it, wrapping his arms around the boy and allowing him what little comfort he knew how to extend.
“There, there.” He whispered to him in the voice he only ever used for the child’s brother. “You’ve been very brave.”
And it was true. There were few things Sebastian could think of that were more courageous and more human than smiling at the face of hell. It was the type of behavior that Sebastian was sure would make the late Lord Phantomhive quite proud.
But he wasn’t here. So Ciel was vying for praise from the man he felt was the closest thing he could get now in lieu of fatherly affection.
Hesitantly, he placed a kiss on top of the child’s head. “You’ve done well.”
He cried even harder, clinging harder to Sebastian’s lapels. Something about the situation brought Sebastian a sick satisfaction that his demonic nature just couldn’t ignore.
He would not crave his attention if he knew the truth.
After all, he was not as dull as he had initially seemed.

talk 2 me about H Shoe Crab... (if u like) (I'm in a... Crabby... mood... heh)
I will GLADLY talk to you about Crab!! also fucking amazing pun i love puns. Okay so as you maybe know ive been putting the suitehearts through the genderweird beam between Sandman being. I mean just look at that guy hes so genderfluid and going oh what if i saiddd she/he Donnie but while Donnies thing is just like she doesn't care shes not transfem shes just, well, Donnie. Unfortunatly Benzedrine's the token cis guy until I maybe change my mind. Anyway I've been thinking about hitting H Shoe(is it Horseshoe or H Shoe is there a difference or is H Shoe just like shortened? I mean the canon is the last thing about any of this but what actually is it because I've seen it every way is there a right way?) Crab with the transfeminator because. Why not. Plus look at her. Also Crab and Jet Star would so be transfem partners in crime.
Okay I'm just gonna dump all the Crab things I've come up with while fleshing out my suitehearts stuff. So I think he'd be the only suiteheart that doesn't mind the fab four and that the fab four don't mind bc the crews totally have a weird rivalry all the suitehearts hate the four except for sandman but thats sandman. And also Crab bc hes just like cool like that. And the fab four all hate the suitehearts except for Crab bc again. He's cool like that. Like they respect him more where they dont the others and Benze especially. Again sandmans kinda an outlier tho the fab four dont hate him they just all think hes fucking annoying. Except for ghoul and kobra but thats ghoul and kobra. But like benz and party? At eachothers throats all day every day and not in a cool sexy way. But they all like crab and i think crab and jet would be best friends i think party would be like jealous of that but theyd like crab anyway cause hes just a cool zonerunner with a sweet face and you cant stay pissy at that. Kobra probably wouldnt care for him that much but he wouldnt mind him either and then ghoul would be like lowkey obsessed with him in like an annoying little brother that NEEDS to prank him kind of way but crab lives with sandman and is literally. Untouchable by mischief. Ghoul tries to prank him and Crab somehow Knows and always turns the situation around and Ghoul's just the one that ends up getting pranked instead or hes caught in his own boobytrap. Its bc ghoul and sandman are the same flavor of little shit.
Anyway. Horseshoe Crab fuckinggg. That guard dog post i think you know the one. Hes the loyalest fucker ever to Benze especially, I'm still deciding what like suitehearts ship to put for background shit in my funsandkid frankenghoul thing oh man whatd i title it. Um. Haunted and Holy. Yeah. Like. Benzecrab... but also with the way benze is characterized in that and what i have planned for like crab and ghouls interactions idk if itd work in it. Still tempted to try it though. But like Benzecrab or should have there be something between Crab and Donnie hhhfhh i cant decide. But yeah Crabs so fucking loyal to his friends especially Benze, in Haunted and holy not so much because benze going crazy and making a person and not treating him like a person is like. Not trustworthy behavior. But until that happens and in anything else. Super loyal especially for benze. And totally a big brother to Sandman like after meeting him was like okay this guys my dude now and claimed him as like a little brother so hes also fiercely loyal for them but more like protective rather than like. For benze hes loyal in that guard dog way where he has such extreme loyalty its become devotion and he'll obey his every command way, while for sandman hes loyal in protective older sibling way and like not guard dog but rather stray dog that sandman fed one too many times and so now hes claimed him and will protect him with his life but won't stop doing so if it commands him to. Protection out of chosen love not earned loyalty. If all that makes sense. And I kinda really want to write what would happen if there was a divide in the suitehearts and Crab had to choose between those things like if he had to choose to take the side of the guy hes devoted to and maybe loves if its benzecrab or the side of his little fucking brother even if theyre not related by blood it would be so sadistic of me to him and myself writing to make him choose between the guy he saved and pulled off the streets and who was his first crewmate versus the guy that saved him and kept him alive and actually made their crew. His leader thats earned his loyalty and respect versus the guy who was family to him before he ever met Benzedrine. But both equally loved by him in their ways. Imagine if he had to choose between them hehhehehege supervillian cackle.
I feel bad for not mentioning Donnie as much in this but i think crab and donnie wouldn't have as strong of a connection like they're best friends and crew theyd kill for eachother like anyone yes but i think theres not as strong as an emotional connection there as there is with sandman or Benzedrine because i feel like theyd both kind of be like. the underdogs of the suitehearts? Like they both have their own thing going on sometimes with crab being a zonerunner and donnie being a busy mechanic and not having met donnie until later like benze they wouldnt have bonded as much and i also hc Donnie as like distant? Like eventually thatd change but i think it takes Donnie like years to fully come around to them all. By then crab and her could be super close but i just dont think donnie would hold as big a candle compared to benze or sandman in crabs mind in the theoretical suitehearts split thing. Anyway can you tell I'm normal about them.

TBB S2 EP 8 SPOILERS BELOW CUT
frick man
OKAY HAPPY THOUGHTS FIRST HAPPY THOUGHTS FIRST
I love how when Rex called Echo was just like "jup on our way" even though Hunter was like ":/". He took charge and the rest of em just went with it. Love that for him
I KNOW THIS IS A DETAIL BUT THE FACT THAT REX IS WEARING ACTUAL BOOTS WITH HIS CIVVIE OUTFIT???? idk man just,,, cute
Also I was literally so worried for him during that shootout on the venator bc like,,, he don't have any armour anymore?? what if he gets shot?? (ik he has plot armour but I would love some real armour as well, thanks)
Chuchi was amazing!!!! I hope we get to see more of her!
In the end I did feel sorry for Rampart. Its true, he was following orders. He is just another plot device for the emperor to use so that his will is done. He wasn't innocent, but he was still made into a scapegoat
ALSO FCKING SHIT I HADE PALPATINE!!! Like, I knew the clones were gonna get decommissioned, but still, THEY ARE NOT DROIDS TO SIMPLY BE SHUT OFF!!
Am still loving the fact that Chuchi is fighting for their rights and how much "clone politics" we got these last two episodes. Makes me think that maybe Filoni was listening (makes me hope for canon Foxiyo ngl)
okay
sorta sad thoughts time now
gonna tag @saturn-sends-hugs bc I wanna see her opinion on this too :')
First of all, sorry friend ik you didn't want this to happen
I've seen this issue on tumblr a lot, of people being scared that Echo will leave and I've stayed quiet abt it till now
But I actually saw it coming and,,, I approve
I just think it's who Echo is. I think it's just so him to care about the future of all clones, to care about larger scale issues in the galaxy, to want to stay in the big fight. The batch "abandoned" the big issues in the galaxy a while ago, but I know Echo. He believed in the Republic more than most other clones. Sure, almost all of them fought for the Republic, but we all know there were certain clones more patriotic than others (like Jesse, Cody and Rex). There were certain clones who put more emphasis on loyalty than any other quality, and I think Echo was one of them. Still is. I knew he wouldn't be able to stay out of the fight for long, I knew he would eventually split off from the batch and I think that's okay. He and Hunter are different people, with different goals and different futures. And I'm a 100% they'll be reunited eventually, but as Echo said, this is something he has to do. This is who he is, at his core. It's not who Hunter is, it's not who the batch is. The Batch have always been slightly,,, detached from the other clones, while Echo was always focused on the big picture, the unity and brotherhood that the clones shared. It only makes sense for him to leave now.
Think abt the beginning of the episode, where he tells Omega he doesn't like being alone, he got enough of that on Skako. Goes to show how he was used to always being surrounded by brothers, how much he loved it and them. Why abondon them when they need him most?
That being said, I do hate that we'll likely see less of him now, especially after he got so little development in recent eps
I am hopeful, however, that maybe this means we get to see him working together with Rex and his development happing apart form the batch but still on screen. Either way, I stand by what I said. This is where Echo needs to be right now.

This refers to my earlier parallel post over here. I didn't want to make a long caption, so here it is.
Jesse and Grace meta, Jesse and the Herondales meta.
Jesse is torn because he loves Grace, but at the same time: 1) he doesn't like what she did and hasn't processed it bc he's just learned about it! -- we know, later on, that he forgives Grace even though we don't get to see them talk about it, which also means that probably Jesse doesn't need to talk about it, he just decides to forgive Grace and as a reader, it is shown to us when Grace runs to the Institute all wet and scared and Jesse doesn't hesitate to go to her and after that, we see how they're back to their sibling dynamic. Even ghost!Kit tells Grace that Jesse believes in her;
2) he feels like he failed as her brother because he couldn't protect her, and since he only appeared as a ghost at night, he couldn't stop all of this from developing how it did - he physically wasn't there, and since he was the one to insist on getting the runes who killed him, in a way he's blaming himself. From the things he says, it's evident that Jesse, despite looking confident, blames himself for having failed Grace;
3) he also feels loyal to the Herondales, by this point. It isn't just because he loves Lucie and because she gave him his life back, which, even if he didn't love Lucie, he'd be forever grateful for. He could have loved Lucie but at the same time, not liking her family or not being liked by her family. Think about Romeo and Juliet. Lucie and Jesse are often compared to them in CoG/CoI. When Will and James first met Jesse, they're wary of him, but then they come to trust him, and welcome him in their family, in their group, and at the London Institute, and he eases himself into their family dynamics as if he had always been there. Jesse feels grateful to the Herondales: they gave him a roof over his head, clothes, food, and their trust in him, something he never expected considering it was his mother conspiring to hurt them all these years. They could've well kicked him to the curb and opposed to his relationship to Lucie. I'm sure Jesse would've managed anyway, but he didn't have to, because the Herondales are like that. Will said that Lucie likes to save abandoned sparrows, but Will is like that too, and so is Tessa (the woman still hoped that Tatiana could be saved). And knowing that Jesse sacrificed his last breath to give it to James is enough for Will to trust Jesse, who "gave up his life" to save James, a stranger.
Between past and future And to go back to the Grace point, even James wouldn't hold it against Jesse, if he forgave Grace. I think that, by that point, Jesse already forgave Grace but his loyalty and gratefulness towards the Herondales made him unable to pick a side --- Jesse doesn't want to pick a side. He wants both: Grace, aka his connection to his old life before dying and during his time as a ghost, and Lucie and the Herondales + his extended family, which represent his new life after he was revived. A life he hadn't had the chance of living, in which he can finally have control over what he wants to say or do, and become the person he wanted to be and couldn't be, because of the circumstances (being a ghost). Jesse wants to forgive and protect Grace, whom he cares for, but at the same time, he doesn't want that his choice pits him against Lucie and her family, whom he also loves. It's a tough choice, if you think about it, and that's why, in a way, he wants to talk to James first. He wanted to be sure that James was okay if he forgave Grace, that things won't change if he did that, bc Jesse liked how things were progressing between them. Heck, by the end of that chapter 16, James acknowledges that he and Jesse can be friends and he and Jesse both didn't expect that. Like I said, even if Jesse will marry Lucie in the future, James isn't expected to be the best bro with him. Just look at him and Alastair. James doesn't hate Alastair, but he doesn't love him either. They tolerate each other because Alastair is his brother-in-law, but at the moment, there is no indication that he and Alastair will be more than cordial with each other and become superb friends. On the other hand, James and Jesse experienced the same trauma: they were manipulated like a puppet and stripped of their freewill. Many relationships are born on shared experiences, because we feel like the other person understands us, what we went through. And Jesse understands James, and what drove Jesse mad is not just what his mother had done to James, but that it had been Grace, the sister he loves, that had been her mother's instrument to do that to James. And it sort of reflects on Jesse and his own experience. Jesse is a logician character, he ponders the things he says and does, he seems very confident of what he says or does, sometimes even arrogant, and he doesn't seem to like when things don't go as planned, or he couldn't make them go the way he liked them to be. It was easy for him as a ghost, he could just disappear. But this is real life, and he didn't expect Grace to act like she did. He didn't expect Tatiana to use Grace that way. He knew that Tatiana was problematic, but he was shaken when he discovered the extent of her revenge. Jesse was afraid to lose the Herondales and their friends and Grace too, since she was locked in a prison and he might've become lonely as when he was a ghost, if he had. And he didn't want that. That's why he probably went for the "easier" way and initially didn't openly forgive Grace in the prison and in front of James. Because Jesse ponders a lot, and he is also very caring and forgiving, in the end, he always knew that his sister was already forgiven in his heart, and that he wouldn't lose the Herondales in the process.
TLDR; Bottom line is that I don't find Jesse's reaction OOC, for the things I have explained. We have to remember that the Jesse we "knew" before CoT is the Jesse we saw interacting with Lucie and fewer times (I think just once or twice, at max), with Grace. Even so, we knew the Jesse through Grace's eyes. We didn't know the "real" Jesse, the living Jesse, the Jesse who interacts with living people like him, and we got to know him as he interacted with the rest of the characters. Even so, his personality shone through, to me. Like I said, Jesse is a very rational character. He sees the facts, and tries to find the best way to solve problems in a realistic approach, but he also has a little hard time giving up his control (that's why he's super mad when Lucie commanded him as a ghost). That's why, in my opinion, his dynamic with Lucie works. She's his opposite, and gives him the thrill of the irrational, the unexpected, the illogical - you name it, that he finds so hard to give up. While at the same time being reliable and confident and steady, someone who thinks a lot and is very loyal if he loves you. And it is clear, as it was stated several times, that Jesse loves Lucie, but he also cares for Grace and he wants Grace in his life.

AAAAH WAIT (spoilers if you have watched the whole season)
I saw the ask about Rhett believing Perry is capable of murder, because let’s be real drunk or not — Perry has always had something against Trevor and could have killed him sober
And I brought this up to my mom the other day — in the kitchen scene where Rhett and Perry fight
Rhett says “you have no idea what I have given up to protect you!”
He doesn’t say ‘what we have’ — which would have included Royal and Cecilia
He says ‘what I have’ — referring to only himself
Now this can totally just be about him lying to cover Perry’s ass and Maria telling him that she can’t be with him because of it.
But I think this runs back to when they were kids and teenagers
Like what if Rhett lost out of a scholarship because he had to save Perry from a fight he was losing
Rhett could have gone on to ride bulls for a college rodeo team but because he got into a fight -probably a very public one- to save his brother, the took away his scholarship bc that’s a bad look
(I know this is long winded and a lil random so I apologize I just really wanted to tell someone about this)
listen... I am 100% certain that rhett has given up so much of himself for his family, and likely a lot due to perry.
I fully believe rhett is right to say "you have no idea what I have given up" because truly, what has Royal and Cecelia even given up? nothing! Royal goes a little bananas sure, but he's just obsessed with his fucking hole and his pseudo-grandchild-gone-poet girl? and cecelia is like "oh no, god hates me for hiding my murderous son please the old ladies don't accept me anymore"
whereas rhett???? for real might face murder charges, he has to give up on a lot of his dreams, and also stands to loose not only his freedom but also the chance of finally feeling loved and cared for by someone he likes and cherishes.
I have this headcanon that Perry's always had anger management issues, and part of Rhett's resentment towards his older brother stems from his getting to the ugly end of that rage towards him since he was young - always belittled and perhaps beaten sometimes - and still being seen as the 'lesser son'.
I've also been thinking about the fact that from like a viewer perspective, the show wants us to believe rhett is like the town whore, which might be true - but we only hear about this from people around him. he himself never shows us (the audience) that that is the case. no, he shows us hesitancy in approaching a crush, he shows us loyalty, he shows us fucking... picking flowers and asking what his crush needs him to be? shows us that he feels he doesn't bring much to the table, but at least he's better than that fucking jag weed he just punched... anyways... getting off topic but do you see where I'm sort of going?
tldr; in my headcanon, rhett has gotten the short end of shit since he was a child. I feel like he might've been a wild child, creative and thrill seeking, perhaps had problems sitting still long enough to learn 'the book way' and would much rather learn by doing, which made cecelia sigh and become exasperated with him, royal told him to shut the fuck up and not to cry, and perry would use him to get his anger out - and they all expect it of him, because they're family... I LOVE THE FUCKED UP COWBOY OKAY I CAN TALK ABOUT HIM FOREVER

What are the 5 Important female relationships in Gideon's life?
Taking out family cause that's too easy, as well as characters that are not currently in play like Nora (bff) and Diana. Also taking out Amélie for this one (sorry Amélie) bc she's in a slightly different category in relation to Gideon at this point in time than the ones below. In no particular order, then, the following ladies come especially to mind:
Eleanor — He's known her almost as long as he's known the Rutherfords themselves. Somehow, looking back, he sees Eleanor in most of his childhood memories, smiling in the periphery. Always trailing after Lara and Adri, undoubtedly, but always there. Always a friend to the family, always a constant. As they've gotten older, he's keen to make it known that the feeling is mutual, and that he'll always be a constant for her too, should she ever have need for it. After catching Olivier Fontaine threatening her during the Awards After-Party, that protective instinct has surfaced more overtly in him, and he's determined to figure out what kind of trouble she's gotten herself into, and if there's a way he can help. @eleanorxshipley
Cassandra — They go back ages, they have a complicated history and a connection that's often been described as a love/hate dynamic by others. There's a lot of ingroup loyalty there, despite all the jokes about nepotism and elitist educational experiences. He also has a lot of respect for her political career and her outspokenness on ethical topics. Even though I suspect if he were to find out about some of her sympathies for the French/mob-affiliated French, he'd consider it to be hypocritical on her part and would lose some respect for her political stances accordingly. That said though, his loved ones are his Achilles' heel, and Cassandra, whether she knows it or not, has earned a spot in that circle that would take a lot for her to lose. @cassandra-acton
Ayda — A newer and far more recent entry to the list, and because of that the depth of this connection is (inevitably) a little less invested than the rest. But that doesn't mean he doesn't care about her. They've spent time together on and off over the last few months, and there are a lot of qualities he cherishes in her. He's rooting for Ayda, and she's someone he'd like to see happy. He's also made a promise to her brother to keep an eye out for her, and whether or not he trusts Hasan, he intends to keep his word. For her sake, and out of respect for the uphill battle that she choose by leaving behind a life of crime, even if she's still loyal to her people. But this also makes their connection a little bittersweet, because he's mindful of the fact that life may pit them against one another or force them eventually to take sides. @ayda--demir
Jessica — They've had their ups and downs, but somehow the downs have only brought them closer. This isn't something Gideon takes for granted, as many of his friendships have fallen apart exactly when the going got tough. In a humbling way, what's won him over the most when it comes to Jess' character is her capacity for forgiveness, even when he didn't deserve it. Heck, even when he was too proud to ask for it. Although he's not the type of man to make explicit declarations of fuzzy feelings, this experience was one that's ultimately earned Jess his hard-won trust, and his fidelity to their friendship. The other stuff; their shared commiseration of working in the NHS, the hospital banter, common traumas they've survived, are merely additional layers on that foundation. @jessi-reyes
Alexis — What is it about some of the oldest connections in his social circle that get so damn complicated?? This might seem a surprising entry for the list, but it isn't, not to Gideon. There's a lot of bad blood between them, a lot of misunderstanding, and lot of ways in which he's felt hurt by Alexis, too. That said, there's little he wouldn't do for her, if push came to shove. He'd defend her against any naysayers and protect her to the best of his ability, if needed. A lot of this does come down to loyalty to his best friend, Spencer, but that isn't to say it'd be his only motivation for sticking his neck out for her. Spencer's also been with women in the past that Gideon did not respect and would not protect. But he respects Alexis; he always has. She's smart, funny, and she can go toe-to-toe with Spencer as few people can. Selfishly, Gideon wishes she had a better opinion of him, but that doesn't change the fact that she's important to him, even if the feeling isn't mutual. @alexislarsson

Who are your fav characters, and why ? And favourit ship/s ?
Eeeeek finally getting round to this lovely ask by the smartiest @imabitchforjemcarstairs hehehe
I have answered this lovely q, and here is the link for the full unhinged answer for the "why" them, hehe.
But the TLDR just for fire rapid answers is:
Favourite characters:
Alastair
Will/Tessa (tie)
Thomas
Matthew
Kitty and Jessa tie
Malec (if allowed a sixth place)
Top Ships:
Thomastair
Wessa
Kitty
Jemma
Malec
(lots of cheating with the ties, but im going to be honest, i can't choose frfr)
Now to enjoy this read and not make and make this answer half assed, I will be original and give my two cents on the topic of Wessa vs. Jessa i haven't had the time to chat about until now. So technically you didn't ask for this lol but i feel like we love Jem and this is a perfect opportunity to give an essay responce on the whole shindig :)
So scooch in for me @imabitchforjemcarstairs we need a chat ;) .
On the topic of Jessa vs. Wessa vs. Herongraystairs in TID:
I think I liked them a lot especially in TID, but i think that the lack of Jem POV makes it hard to really understand what's going inside in his head. And i think the relationship as a ship in writing, suffers from it, especially when we have Will's POV. And that rather, the decisions that 'metamorph' in their relationship is out of Jessa's hands, but a response to the events CC convienently plops in, not allowing any of these three characters decided eyes wide open their fate. Which imo, is a cop out. Let's breakdown the sneaky manipulative writing CC did ;)
I recently reread TID (for about the 10th time now, as one does during the christmas season lol) and found that even during the Herongraystairs arc, it felt like the writing gave more bonding and more to Wessa than Jessa. I call this in romance novels the, "convincing period", where the author in those formative chapters has to convince the reader that these two individuals should be in a ship. CC convinced us on Wessa bc they were into each other since day 0 when Will saved her from the Twin sisters, had so many hobbies in common and shared the same common struggles of figuring out who they want to be in this world (Will struggling w/ his identity and curse and Tessa as a weird hybrid warlock who constantly gets gaslit her who life). So the convincing is done well there i think we can all agree on that pretty easily.
For Jem and Tessa, it seems as if Tessa always defaulted to him because he was a failsafe from Will. And i don't mean that negatively, but in that, he was brilliant, light, elegant, poised and studied and that is literally sexy as hell lol. LIKE COME ON, HE MADE MUSIC ON HIS VIOLIN FOR HERRR. THAT'S HELLA ROMANTIC. And is very "show don't tell" when it comes to his love, my fav trope. He is very clear, which at the time, was the opposite of Will. So that in of itself is attractive to Tessa. But it's a canon event, that she went into the engagement collaterally in book 2, bc Will constantly kept deflecting what they had. She wouldn't have explored a relationship with Jem, if it weren't for Will's deflections. This is literally a canon event. And Tessa wanted to explore what she had with Jem bc he was very decided and less flakey than Will. Which tbh makes utter sense to me!
But as you can see, later on, once Jem leaves the silent brothers, the way i interpreted this is that, Jem and Tessa became a thing bc of the history they have, the loyalty they have to the trio friendship group and bc Tessa doesn't have Will anymore. It's giving very much "begin again" by Taylor Swift Vibes (not too much but yk kinda that aesthetic). And what I'm trying to say, is that I read the Jessa relationship at a disadvantage when up against Wessa. I think CC would have benefited writing Jessa and Wessa independent, and not collaterally contigent on the happenings of what was going on with the status of the other relationship. And then, on Wessa's side in response to Jem leaving for the Silent Brothers, they didn't want to get together in Book 3, bc Will didn't want to take his best mate's girl away bc his best mate never asks anything of Will and he's also high key dying.
It’s unfair that Wessa happened bc Will felt like there was a curse which gave way for Jessa’s engagement, and conversely, it’s unfair that Wessa only got together once the silent brothers made Jem one of them. So again, the autonomy of these characters are not happening 'authentically' but are happening bc of circumstances.
There is also the accidental (ig) trope that Jem with his illness he was given which in political theory we call, “the children are dying” trope. Which means, you give blanket equity or veto power to someone irrespective of the context of deserving because they are “closer to death” than anyone else. This is THE DRIVING FORCE, of why everyone acts the way they do around poor Jem and it drives him, and us the readers crazy, rightfully so. Jem and Will become friends, not because Will at first fr liked Jem as a person or thought he was a talented shadowhunter, but “because he was dying”, blanket permission for friendship. Tessa was kind to Jem at first because, you guessed it, blanket permission because he is closer to death than she is. They get engaged despite not knowing each other for a long time, conveniently for Jem because, yes, he’s close to death. So much of autonomy is once again stripped from characters around Jem, because most of their actions are respective to his illness. Which is polite, lovely, but it rightfully upsets Jem because he is still a person. Not a a make a wish kid nor a charity case. This was touched on briefly when he said he didn’t want a nurse out of Tessa but a wife. This wasn’t morally delved into deeply save for Tessa’s answer “no I fr like u dude wdym” but than her actions proceed to default back to the “children are dying” complex around him. And we’re only freed from this trope finally once Jem has lived basically the immortal life and is a very changed person after silent brotherhood.
So WTF to do right? Seems like CC built up amazing grounds and complications in these characters, but what to do right? How can she wrap this up in a nice bow? Well CC went naturally via the occam's razor route, which is: Jem becomes a literal monk giving him 'immortality', so circumstantially, the only option JUST SO HAPPENS that Will and Tessa can be together. Again, its not a decision Tessa makes, its a problem that solves itself for Tessa. She goes with Will for now, and maybe in the future, she will go with Jem if he ever leave the silent brothers.
Which again, imo is a bit of a cop out. But CC didn't allow Tessa to put her big girl panties and choose a man. But one thing is clear, which is CC didn't write Will and Jem equal from the start. And it is very clear that Will was written from the beginning as the forbidden love and chosen one. Which is extremely unfair to Jem bc there is so much we could have learned and gained from a Jem pairing that DIDN'T happen bc of the circumstances of Wessa not working out. I truly think that Jem was written with an unfair disadvantage. Like i said, One bc his POV hasn't ever been explored that well. and Two, bc all of Tessa's choices weren't made bc she willed them, but bc CC wrote the circumstances in to take away the choice for her.
Now what I do think is right, is that Jessa, both being immortal are together later on in Shadowhunter Canon. I love Mina and I love what they can be for each other. They make each other happy. And for anyone who says that you can have only 1 love in ur life has a very romantic judeo-catholic view on things XD. U can have many loves in ur life, and each of them can be independent from each other. Love is not mutually exclusive. How is it that you can love unbundently and feel equal love for your multiple pets and children, but not find it in yourself to love more than 2 men? It is entirely possible. And so I do think there is room for Jessa, even if Wessa happened first. And I don't think it is disrespectful or cheating to remarry or find another love after one has ended.
I read criticism about them and how they don't live up to the same version as they were in TID, but i think living hundreds of years does that to you. And i don't think it's the fault of anyone in the pairing to 'bring out' the best in the other, but they can also be very changed people from when they were young. This criticism that they aren't great together later on in life is rooted in their own way of dealing with immortality AND THEN each other. I think what is a pity is that it isn't explored as well as Magnus's immortality has shaped his life which i think again, puts Jessa at a disadvantage. Magnus' continuity as I explained before is given a wider girth than Jessa which is why he is my preferred immortal. But then again, what would Magnus do, if he was immortal forever with his ship? He would be a very changed person he wouldn’t be his own comedic relief that’s for sure. In fact, Camille was not wrong when she said that immortality changes your relationship greatly. Where she fucked up was treating poor babygirl Magnus like shit just in general lol, and being immortal doesn't mean u have to be an asshole. I think immortality truly did a number on Jem and Tessa, irrespective of each other and has not a lot to do with Jem or how he treats her, but a lot about how how Tessa and Jem are quite literally a hundreds of year old great grandma and gramdpa hahahahaha.
But if Will were still alive or immortal like Tessa, would Tessa still be with him now that she has the option of being with Jem forever? Again, we are stripped away from that option because the circumstances decided over the characters. But I do think she would still chose Will.
Final question is, would Herongraystairs actually work? The answer in CC's eyes and again, the occam's razor answer is obviously 'yes'. In fact Tessa herself in Book 3 said it is entirely possible to be in love with 2 people at once and I think poly relationships are a beautiful thing. But is it the easiest and first answer, or is it the TRUE answer? Again, that we will never know bc Tessa's decisions on this matter are in response to the environment she is in, not because she truly believes it.
It is very clear that Will is written all across Tessa's mind in Book 1, and is what she thinks about 24/7. There were times where i was like, "girl just go up to him and JUST EXPLODE UR FEELS ON HIM UR GIVING ME A HEADACHE". But the plot just so conveniently every time they had a moment alone, would get 'interrupted' and the moment was gone. Only after in response to this mess of a situationship, did she go for Jem bc of his ease and what he represented (which we talked about before^) but it wasn't equally organic. It was in response to what happened with Will. Truly we all know, that Tessa would not have even considered Jem, if Will and Tessa decided to be a couple and engage by book 1. And I hate that Jessa read to me as second best, instead of a true, equal 1st place like Wessa. Which is would have to be, in order to have a Herongraystairs. I don't like that CC made Jessa collateral, but tbh i think she didn't know how to chose in the making of TID. So instead of choosing or rewriting the relationship so that both ships were dealt with equally, she made the events of the plot decide for the characters instead.
In defence of CC, a lot of our lives happens in response to our surroundings and circumstances instead of pure Free Will. Which might ironically make Jessa and Wessa and Herongraystairs even more realistic than maybe the idyllic cleanly chosen choices. Life moves fast and we can barely respond to it in time. And what matters most at the end, is that all three of these characters love each other dearly and would be there for each other no matter what. However, the way the plot was almost TOO conveniently choosing everything instead of the characters making hand on heart choices, swings us back to being a bit too unrealistic.
I truly, really love Jessa and I would marry Jem myself lol, but I really disliked the way it wasn't dealt with fairly. I am happy that they end up together at the end, I just didn't like the way they went about it. I would be more sold on Herongraystairs if it was dealt with more evenly instead of the other side of the poly v, instead of being collaterally contingent to the happenings of Wessa. Who knows, CC said that Jessa will re-encounter Will again and not in shadowhunter heaven so i wonder if there is any ability to clean this all up. But bc of the way CC wrote Jessa over how i WISHED she wrote them, Jessa is not in the top 5 ships for me unfortunately. It's def top 10 (and for sure over Clare lol) probablly like 7th place but not top 5. I think there are other relationships in the Shadowhunter fandom that are written a lot more cleanly where the characters are given by CC more autonomy in their choices which makes it easier to follow along. Not to mention get their POVs.
I cannot wait for your own lovely essay on our fav Jem @imabitchforjemcarstairs ! I hope my re-mentioning of it doesn't come across as antsy or like i'm trying to 'remind you' passively lol. Which would be awfully rude. As you can tell, I took my time to reply to this one :). My intention is one of pure excitement, fandom-ing over it and showing support.

OMEGA FETT
Like Boba, Omega's DNA was virtually unchanged. She wasn't engineered to be docile and obedient like the other clones. She's every bit as intelligent, adaptable, and headstrong as her father and her brother. Or at least, she's capable of being as much. With the right training anyway. And she has plenty of training to follow with so many brothers to guide her. Omega picks up a variety of traits from all of her brothers - not just the Bad Batch. In my personal canon, Omega has some degree of Force sensitivity. Without proper training from someone who does have actual experience wielding the Force, the closest she gets to honing and utilizing it is training with Hunter. She picks up on his ability to detect things with his hyper-developed senses and learns to be very keenly aware of surroundings and anything within them. This eventually culminates in her being a master tracker of all things interesting. From Echo and Tech, Omega gets a strong understanding of hardware and software technology respectively. She learns how to safely, quickly, and effectively analyze parts and information and utilize them in a way that suits her purpose. Whether that's reverse-tracking a signal, masking her own, quickly reprogramming a droid to benefit her purpose, or just make a weird trinket that she thinks will help make life easier, she can do it all. She can even handle weapons and ship repairs. With practice of course. From Wrecker, one might expect Omega to learn how to disarm or arm bombs, or build muscle via lifting exercises. And she does, to some extent. She masters the bomb part. The weight-lifting, not so much. But what she really gets from Wrecker is kindness and empathy, especially towards animals. Wrecker teaches her how to approach other creatures in a tactful, gentle way that builds bonds with them and creates connections to ensure that wherever she goes, wildlife will never be problem. He also teaches Omega the value of humility. He isn't always the best with his words, but he is honest. He teaches Omega that there's no shame in being wrong and that apologizing when you hurt someone is the right thing to do. From Crosshair, Omega eventually learns the blaster skills she needs to survive in the galaxy. She'll never be quite as fantastic as Crosshair when it comes to shooting - but she will be as good as Jango. And with a bow no less. She also learns from Crosshair the value of loyalty and what it means to do what's right. She learns from him that it's never too late to do the right thing, and it's never too late to forgive someone else's mistakes. Crosshair might be cold and more distant than the others, and he doesn't really talk much. But still, he has things that Omega can learn. And she's thankful to have him there with them. Of course, Omega also learns skills from the other remaining clones. From Rex, she learns the importance of resilience and anticipation of the enemy's moves, just like Ahsoka did. From Cody, she learns that being a good soldier is about more than just following orders. From Gregor, she learns that life can't always be serious. You have to live a little an have fun where you can find it. From Wolffe, she learns that you are stronger when you stand together with your allies. Suffice to say, Omega has a lot to learn being so young. But she has a very strong and close-knit family to help teach her and guide her through the danger and chaos of the galaxy. Most importantly, they give her something that they didn't always have being bred for war. They give her endless hope. They nuture her sense of wonder in the galaxy and the reality that she can have good, long, fulfilling life that is more than just the horrors of war. And I think that's beautiful.

What’s the lie your character says most often? How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’? Who do they love truly, 100% unconditionally (if anyone)? Who would / do they believe without question?
for Wilder, Yin, aaaaand Zarina
@ofviolentdeath || character dev questions (always accepting)
Wilder:
What’s the lie your character says most often?
"I don't care."
How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?
Wilder hasn't used the word "friend" in roughly five? six? years. And he won't, because that's a ticket to murder-ville for anyone he uses it on. He very intentionally doesn't have friends and doesn't want any, even if there are people in his life who might try to claim him as a friend.
Even before Azazel, he was picky about friends. He's judgmental and condescending and not a lot of people can deal with him and there aren't a lot of people he can deal with either.
Who do they love truly, 100% unconditionally (if anyone)?
No one. Not anymore. Liam and Sage, before. Maybe Liam again one day. Things with Sage are going to be a lot more complicated, though.
Who would / do they believe without question?
Lmaoooooooo literally no one, ever. He's an older brother and he knew damn well his siblings were full of shit at LEAST half the time. they're the only ones who'd come close to being on the list.
Yin:
What’s the lie your character says most often?
"I don't want anything from you."
How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?
He's... hmmmm. Probably more than the average demon but way less than the average human. Yin is a very all or nothing kind of person so he tends to be picky about who he gives that kind of loyalty to.
Who do they love truly, 100% unconditionally (if anyone)?
The kids. No hesitation. He loves them all.
Also like? Not anymore but Rebekah and Cord both had this from him at one point.
Who would / do they believe without question?
Wyatt! They're quite good friends and he knows Wyatt wouldn't lie to him.
Talyse and Lilith. Of all the kids, those are the two he knows wouldn't lie to him. Tal bc Tal. Lilith bc while she's definitely capable of lying to get what she wants, she's never really felt the need to bullshit with either of her parents.
Also like... he'd have a few questions, but not as many as you'd think so like. Cord. Bc Cord wouldn't come to him for no reason.
He'd really really like to feel this way about Robert.
Zarina:
What’s the lie your character says most often?
"You can trust me."
How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?
Zarina is very picky about her friends. She likes people every once in a while, but it's definitely a rare thing.
Who do they love truly, 100% unconditionally (if anyone)?
Aries! That's it, end of list. The two of them understand each other in a way they've never found with anyone else.
Who would / do they believe without question?
Also Aries, like 90% of the time, but sometimes he's fucking with her and she knows it.

thinking about Astraeus' route.. more like the versions I have;
1- The canon way. MC really fell in love with Hades. Astraeus pined for her badly on Earth. Hades betrayed her to the pantheon — and so on. We love a suffering male lead. It's kinda really charming that he waited so long for her even without the possibility of her ever returning his affections even if he was dying from being on Earth. Kinda sickly. I love it.
2- Double agent way. MC seduced Hades to use him because she hates the gods for what they did to her mother and while she grows fond of Hades it's been always her plan, to take down H.E.R.A. She doesn't trust Astraeus though and only after he said his loyalty to his brother is over does she meet him and they have this intense connection so she agrees to break up w Hades n instead work inside H.E.R.A to take the pantheon down w Astraeus providing outside support. Here I think they'd start as friends with benefits thing? (at least from MC' perspective as he's already very much in love) She keeps Hades busy n suspicions off of her she tries to figure out this weird thing between her n Astraeus. This is kinda my fave bc it has Hades' route and Astraeus' sketchy introduction & obsession w/o getting too long PLUS MC tends to Astraeus as he's beaten up from that fight with Hades and experiencing Earth for the first time, now w MC n them sharing a bed & trusting & getting to know each other before they devote themselves to each other eternally... I feel like it's needed - a step between enemies and devotion forever u know.
3- No Hades way. Not sure how to go with it tbh... I suppose in that case it starts like the other routes and Astraeus is arrested in H.E.R.A. maybe just before Pallas attacked he uses this information to gain a little trust and prevent the first explosion in Olympus. Maybe his case is proving titans deserve freedom and the route is about finding clues and researching ways to make peace between them without war. Because Astraeus fought so much and it led nowhere. Might as well try this way. Here, the Hera edge is dealt with the MC already being Hera, meaning all this time she was living, she was actually turning into her gradually without noticing because her power and presence is too overwhelming. Astraeus helps her come to terms with it and it helps him make peace with the Olympians too. Peace and Love on the Planet Earth. In Lost Kisses, you deal with other titans but also some gods trying to sabotage the peace.
