Garage Sale
Well, when the Fentons decided to have a garage sale Danny didn't expect many to be interested. His parents were looking for a way to get money quickly to build more stuff, and he jokingly suggested they could sell some inventions, they took it seriously (Jazz made sure to remove all the lethal inventions, she tried with the ones that might be risky but then they wouldn't sell anything).
Danny knew his parents were strange yes, but he wasn't sure that justified millionaires in his backyard. Millionaires, he'd like to clarify, had never set foot in Amity Park before. He raised an eyebrow at the sight of Bruce Wayne and his sons checking out the appliances. None of them seemed to be interested in the "ghosts" but they hadn't backed down from taking some things either.
So yes, Danny was suspicious. Of course he had made sure the inventions in the sale were safe (although unlike Jazz, he simply decided to make them safe, a few modifications here and there), but the fact that they looked genuinely interested made him uneasy.
Were the Waynes interested in hunting ghosts?
He decided to try something, he crossed eyes with one of them and let his green eyes show before looking away, the boy looked alarmed. He approached him and asked, but Danny feigned ignorance, commenting that all the inventions were green and maybe he had been confused by the reflection (to be fair, most of his parents' inventions were green because of the ecto).
For his part, Bruce had received an alert from Justice League Dark, it seemed they had detected a strange energy, similar to magic, so the bats set out to investigate. They didn't expect to find a garage sale in a house in the middle of nowhere (Amity Park wasn't even marked on the fucking map). Nor did they expect advanced technology or mad scientists.
Bruce decided to pretend he had stumbled into town as "Brucie Wayne" and buy a few things. He shuddered to see that many inventions worked with Lazarus water. Jason, who had strangely agreed to come along, was also upset about the son of the scientists.
Bruce questioned whether he had found a family of villains in the making.

James Cromwell explaining how he contextualized Logan and Ewan's backstory in preparation for the funeral/eulogy. (x)
The reference to Ewan bringing home dead animals is (I think) from a deleted scene in Season 1, except below the cut.

can’t stop thinking about the way roman girls such as myself kinda like won the most out of all except maybe the tomgregs idk like bro seems like finally admitted to himself he didn’t really want the crown and then had an enlightened moment of “we’re all bullshit” and then, free, had a drink at a bar. and sure he’s the loneliest he’s ever been BUT HE’LL GET UP RIGHT…. HE’LL BE FINE…….. the guy who everyone deemed incompetent and unable to land a minimum wage job without nepotism and who doesn’t know the price of a carton of milk he’ll be okay

infinity train is so messed up for having a perfectly constructed duo of characters both of whom admire and are ashamed of each other simultaneously without either of them being presented as correct in feeling that way

Man I keep thinking about McDonald's boycott and how they're still supporting idf after everything. They've lost who knows how many millions (hope they lose even more), gained everlasting taint on their brand and instead of idk, apologizing and stopping supporting Israel they just doubled down on their bs. Would apology fix anything? Ofc no, people would still rightfully boycott/avoid them, but at least idf would have support less. Just how deep in zionists' ass do you have to be to risk ruining own brand so everyone knows you're first in line to support a genocide?? Jfc

what favorite experiences or places or toy's of mav's do you most look forward to introducing to your puppy? what advice or lessons from mav will most benefit your beautiful budding relationships with future dogs?
I have so many fun hiking and walking trails I'm excited to introduce to the puppy, it'll be really cool to see what she likes best (Marlo's favourite being big lakes, Mav's favourite being grasslands, and Pike's favourite being dry sand or dirt).
I'm really interested to see how I balance "letting the puppy be a puppy" and "training foundations while the puppy is still a sponge". With Mav I had no clue what I was doing and no clue what I wanted anything to look like, so I was mostly noodling around doing the bare minimum and fixing problems as they came up. I have a much better idea of what I want for finished behaviours and a much better idea on how to get there, but I'm also a big fan of letting puppies be puppies with low expectations and pressure. It'll be cool to see how that plays out in the new puppy.

awful, just awful
#succession#tomgreg#biting my pillow like that dog meme#where do i even begin with this TOM IS LIKE A SCHOOLBOY WITH GREG ITS ACTUALLY INSANE#he reverts to like 20 years younger from his emotional swings to his obvious crush#and his EXPRESSIONS THROUGHOUT THIS SCENE BY TALOS MY STOMACH IS IN MY ASS. MATTHEW!!!!!#his hurt at the thought that greg might somehow be trying to blackmail him again to just sadness because of greg's fear of going to jail#his downcast eyes as he says ''yeah'' SHUT the up#like yeah maybe he's reflecting on his own hurt and pain at the fact that he's going to jail and shiv handed him another rejection#just before. or maybe. he doesn't like hearing greg suffer like this. i mean. from what i know about later#that tom is fully prepared to go to jail and ''throw it all out for love'' or whatever tf for greg's sake#it's just. it's plausible is all i'll say. it's very plausible when we think about that future scene.#idk i just think that people refuse to hear when anyone would say tom is absolutely GASPING to love somebody. like yeah he's got issues#but who tf is well adjusted in this economy LMAOOO even in these rich fucks' worlds nobody is#so i know. i'm not stupid i know he can be nasty. but so can all of them. GREG WAS PREPARED TO SUE GREENPEACE AJDLAKDAD#i mean idk if he will. but my point is if tom wasn't like that he wouldn't be such a good character imo. if he was just a straight up#asshole. who would care if something bad happened to him? i wouldn't. something that makes him so compelling to me#is that he can be SO WRATHFUL AND MANIACAL#but he can be so. so fucking soft and vulnerable at the same time. and matthew plays him so organically i just wanna fuckin WEEP#and then GREG here. he wasn't even thinking about using a connection of any way to get ahead he just wants to be saved. he's still early 20s#i believe anyway. and tom has taken care of him. looked after him#protected him. he always listens to him. he's learned that tom is there for him so ofc he's gonna plead for help but like. not directly#''just asking for advice'' = i'm fucking terrified how do i make it stop help me#hoe but keep it fashion#SORRY GOD I KEEP DOING NOVELS IN THE TAGS BUT GODDDDDD THIS IS SO MUCH evyerhting is sos oafujfdmwkqfd#ok i'm stopping now  but anyway. they're important to me. sorry. sorry bye

Do you think Roman is the most abused kid out of the siblings? Like that Logan was the most abusive towards him
..................no, obviously not?! i don't think anyone's abuse was 'better' or 'worse' than anyone else's because that is absolutely not a thing that exists or could ever be judged!!! dude
look. i think they were all abused in different ways that were uniquely terrible for each of them and are incredibly specific for each character which is totally worth diving into and talking about -- like, i think it's so fascinating and depressing to explore the differing experiences of each kid, but in no way at all is one experience better or easier to heal from than the others. like, i think roman is the only one convinced that he deserves the abuse he received bc he's fundamentally lesser as a person, but i also think kendall has been made to feel responsible for the abuse of all his other siblings and holds himself responsible for any failing of any sort from any of them whatsoever, shiv has had to shove down her entire personality and any desire for love or affection or emotion or anything 'classically feminine' in order to be seen as a human being, and connor is convinced that the only way someone won't neglect and abandon him is if he pays them to stay. so just because in one post i'm focusing on one kid's experience and how it specifically affected them does not mean i'm saying they were 'the most abused' at all, only that this particular issue is unique to that particular kid, just as every other sibling has issues unique to them too!!! that's like asking me if a leaf or an apple has a worse life because both grow on trees. well, leaves get trampled on but apples don't, and apples get eaten but leaves don't! who has it worse? i don't know! both of them, neither of them! their experiences are equal in the harm caused but different in how it was caused and what particular manifestation that harm takes.
i know people ask questions like this about succession all the time but it never fails to absolutely just bewilder me. if you're ever at a point where you're, like, ranking the abuse experienced by fictional people by their fictional father, then you should probably go touch some grass. sorry

AU Thursday: Valicer In The Dark -- Duskwall Slang
Since we did a VITD lookbook yesterday, I figured we might as well keep the train going today and talk a little bit about some of the worldbuilding I've done for the Valicer In The Dark version of Duskwall (the main setting of Blades In The Dark). Specifically, I've decided to share the short list of slang that I've come up with for people to use! Because that's always fun, right? :) The first entry on this list is taken from the book itself (page 42, specifically) and adapted a little bit, but all the rest are purely my own invention:
-->“Flashing a/their/your Coin” and variants – making an ostentatious display of wealth, to the disgust of everyone around them (the term "Coin" itself is in fact slang for a large sum of money, taken from the days when the Imperial treasury would actually mint large solid gold coins intended to cover major transactions; most people these days rely on small silver pieces called "slugs"). Example: “You spent all that money on THAT outfit? Really flashing your Coin, huh?”
-->“Moving to Six Towers” – indicates that the person said to be moving was previously rich and important, but has fallen on extremely hard times and is on the verge of ruin (referencing the fact that Six Towers USED to be one of the richest neighborhoods in the city, but has turned into a bit of a slum with most of the nobility previously living there moving into Brightstone). Example: “The Everglots’ leviathan ship hasn’t had a good haul in six months. Think they’ll be moving to Six Towers soon.”
-->“Scavenging in the Lost District” – indicates that the person said to be scavenging is taking an INCREDIBLE risk in the hopes of getting a high reward (due to the Lost District being an abandoned neighborhood outside the lightning barrier keeping the city safe and guarded by the Spirit Wardens...but also having many lost riches within its bounds). Example: “You want to rob Lord Mayor Powerwallet? Talk about scavenging in the Lost District!”
-->“Living Coin to Coin” – living paycheck to paycheck, as the average weekly wage in Duskwall is equivalent to a Coin’s worth of money. Example: “Poor old Tom – what with his sick mother and five children needing feeding, he’s living Coin to Coin.”
-->“Only good for mushrooms” – indicates that the thing being talked about is absolute shit. Example: “Don’t order the ‘special ale’ at the Withered Talon, it’s only good for mushrooms.”
-->“You want to call the crows?” – equivalent of “You want to get us killed?” in response to a risky course of action (referencing the Deathseeker crows that find corpses for the Spirit Wardens). Example: “You want to FIGHT Lord Mayor Powerwallet’s bodyguards? You want to call the crows?!”
-->“Barrowcleft approved” – indicates the item in question is homemade but of very high quality (Barrowcleft being a poor, rural neighborhood with one of the best, and fairest, markets in the city). Example – “You carved this yourself? Why, this is Barrowcleft approved work and no mistake!”
-->“Dust Day fare” – an extremely meager meal made from poor-quality ingredients, referencing the popular nickname for the fifth day of the week from Charhollow, which itself references the fact that poor people’s food stores are the thinnest on this day. Example – “Canal water soup with potato peelings. This is Dust Day fare, all right.”
-->“Crit Six/rolled a crit six” – means that something is exceedingly good, or that something that you have done has succeeded beyond your wildest dreams; references the most popular dice game in Duskwall, where rolling double sixes is an automatic win. Example – “I went to open the safe, and I rolled a crit six – the door practically came off in my hands!”
-->“Welcher” – a term for someone who hires a criminal or crew for a job, and then not only refuses to pay them, but actively tries to murder them (directly or otherwise) to avoid doing so. Only one of the highest leaders of the most well-known crews may declare someone a Welcher, and then only after receiving sufficient proof, as the term is a death sentence – the scoundrels of Duskwall do not take kindly to their clients trying to stiff them, in both senses of the word. Example: “All right, I’ve seen enough – I’m ready to declare that Lord E.A. Bethesda is a Welcher. Hope he’s prepared for every scoundrel in the city coming for his ass...”
Further updates to come if and when I think of more stuff! Which I probably will, as this is fun. :)

I've been debating whether to make this idea canon for his backstory or not, but it's heavily suggested that Eight was the main executioner for a large portion of the previous iteration of ImpIntel before Keeper takes office as...well, Keeper. He was the youngest of his predecessors, but that made him what they viewed as the only person to carry on their future work when they'd all lived out past their primes as agents; their careers had matured into retirement territory and they were already far too dangerous to not be under permanent suspicion, but Eight was fresh. He was new. He was non-existent, even if he was set to directly replace an old Cipher designation, which granted him both entry into the old guard and a strange status as a fledgling agent that put him apart from other green officers.
As such, they entrusted him with the rest of their work and their legacies. The role of Cipher Eight is to be the last resort, the reserve, the one who carries out the final act. He personally took the mission to kill them when it was time. Even still, most asked him to. There was such a degree of trust between the old Ciphers and his supposed role that they could leave this world satisfied that whatever forbidden intel they left behind and any loose ends they couldn't take care of while alive would be taken care of by him, because he was one of them. In this, they found more peace than an end at the hands of their masters. He was their hope for the future, the culmination of everything they chose to safeguard, and the carrier of their last wills; their secrets died with them and in him.
Once gone, the Sith would change faces and hands and Intelligence would be dramatically overturned and redone, as it always did with every new cycle. Not once would they look at the last remnant of it and think the traitors' plans still survived, because to kill so many of his own fellows surely meant Eight had no part in their work. No Sith suspected him, and no agent trusted him for the betrayal of his own people, but this was the legacy he had wrought.
No one knows the truth, save for Keeper, that wily old man who found an empty office waiting for him after an up-and-coming young agent had cleared his predecessors out, and Lokin, the other old man who seems to have made it his personal duty to regale such deaths to the successor, Nine.
In some way, Eight secretly hoped he would be the one to eliminate Nine when the order from the Council came.
Fate had other plans, and so it was never to be.
