I watched today One Piece movie 6 aka One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island and, guys, it's a definite must-watch! The director is Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children, Mirai, Belle and so on) so you kinda expect some things, besides the art and animation style (which is one of my favourites ever), but it still managed to blow me away! Probably because it's One Piece and you think looney tunes shenanigans and such AND YOU'RE NOT WRONG THIS IS ONE PIECE but then you are reminded that it's also many more-emotional and heavy- things and Mamoru and the rest succeeded on this!
Tumblr media
You don't even have to know much of the One Piece lore besides the basic and these are more or less showcased in the beginning of the film! So you have the classic Strawhat Pirates dynamics and shenanigans:

You won't stop laughing in the first half:

And then you have Luffy getting from this:

There are many things you can talk about this movie and its themes (like grief) and imagery (THE FLOWER!!!) and the animation (like how the low budget was used cleverly and in an interesting way without making it feel dragging or lacking anything) but I think it's worth to see these by yourself and make your own conclusions. Because the only sure thing is that this movie will make you think, will get your attention from the first scene and, before you realize it, you're immersed in it and you want to find out wtf is wrong with this island and what will happen with the characters (besides the Strawhats as there are a more characters that are fascinating- actually all the characters win you over). It's a comedy but mostly a mystery and a thriller and everything pays off in the end when you see Luffy's smile return to his face.

What fans say:
One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island:
It's the Best One Piece movie. It's got great art syle and the story is unique and a bit more on the horror side than OP usually gets... but it's so. it's the best One Piece has to offer
Star☆Twinkle Precure the Movie: Wish Upon a Song of Stars:
I know this is an anime movie but. This movie destroyed me in so many ways I can’t even begin to describe. The entire twinkle stars musical number always makes me cry. This is legit the one movie I always watch that just sticks with me forever it always makes me feel things.

(Archive) Animated movie of the day: One Piece, Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island (Omatsuri danshaku a Himitsu no Shima, 2005)
Originally posted: January 14th, 2022 It may sound strange to recommend a film that is part of a broader franchise with an established continuity, but I do think some movies in long running anime franchises are so fascinating you can enjoy them on their own. This is such a film, so different from the rest of the series to the point it's deconstructive…
…and it doubles as our Horror movie of the day.
Directed by Mamoru Hosoda of Summer Wars fame, this movie starts innocuous enough with the kind of setup you'd expect from a shonen special(in this case a vacation resort in a random island), yet sooner than later things start going south. The animation style already feels off, which serves to complement a plot that is almost the antithesis of One Piece: it's a film about people falling apart.
Seeing manga and anime characters bicker and argue in comical fashion is the norm. And One Piece is no different, with the Strawhat Crew constantly screaming to each other with cartoony expressions yet in the end showing undying loyalty to each other. This film shows what happens when said bickering stops being funny. It starts comical enough but as the story goes on it devolves into genuine anger and disgust, with squabbles that are uncomfortable to watch. Fan of the series or not, the shift will feel jarring.
And this isn't even talking about the underlying threat that causes this to happen. This film can create a powerfully quiet and eerie atmosphere where not even a shonen protagonist seems invulnerable, the ensuing imagery being…well, nightmarish. Even the ending feels oddly empty. Less cathartic and more like a bad dream suddenly stopping.
Rumor says this film was born as a conduit for Hosoda to vent his frustrations about his experiences in Studio Ghibli. It would explain a lot: To take such a loved franchise and spin it so violently on its head, there has to be a statement here. And it's unexpectedly mesmerising.
Tumblr media
And sure, if you know One Piece's story you're aware the Straw Hats do have some important internal conflicts that make them have rifts in the crew, but the thing that makes this movie notorious is how this is portrayed. While the conflicts in the manga are major disagreements that lend to significant drama among the crew members, they still feel orchestrated. Masterfully played, sure, but they have this sense of being part of a bigger whole. The rifts in this film? They're just come from circumstances pushing the cast's imperfections against each other in a way that deprives them of the larger than life presence they would otherwise have. They become very organically flawed, and end up rubbing each other the wrong way.
It works like a deconstruction of many shonen tropes: How can you invoke the power of friendship when your comrades are fighting each other? How can determination win the day when your problem is something you can't solve with brute force? What if the bad things that happen to them are your fault in your search for adventure?
It's a fascinating watch, that starts like regular One Piece but turns into something else.

Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island did what Long Ring Long Land was Trying to do Better
Long Ring Long Land is by far considered to be the worst canon One Piece arc. The main problem is that Luffy is playing by the villain’s rules [a shitty villain at that]. That’s not what pirates are about. That’d be like if he saved Alabasta by convincing Kouza to stop rebelling, instead of kicking Crocodile’s ass. Or if he stayed in the Colosseum because that’s where Doflamingo wanted him. Sure, they say he did it because of the “pirate code”, but such a thing shouldn’t even exist for pirates. The pirate code only exists so that everyone can call Blackbeard a shit pirate even though he’s more like a pirate than anyone else. But anyways, Oda did not intend for Long Ring Long Land to be important or even good.
The point of Long Ring Long Land was to set up a situation where everyone starts thinking about and questioning their role in the Straw Hats. Why should we keep the Going Merry if just one of Luffy’s fights on another guy’s ship totally trashed that ship? Why should Usopp stay if they’re fighting guys he can’t beat? After all, Usopp can leave and they’d still be friends, right? Chopper left to Foxy’s crew momentarily but he was still a Straw Hat at heart. Are Sanji and Zoro actually useful if they can barely play a ball game together? Even though Nami’s weak, her brains make her vital to the crew. So, what does Usopp do? Why would Luffy say he’d die for a crew mate like Robin or Chopper? Is it not Robin and Chopper who’d say they’d die for Luffy? What good is being a crew mate if your captain just dies over you? These kinds of questions run through everyone’s head as a result of Long Ring Long Land. Sure, some of these thoughts could’ve come to their minds as early as the Jaya arc, but it wasn’t until Chopper momentarily left the crew that the Straw Hats considered thinking hard about the value of their adventures.
But Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island, or the sixth One Piece movie, was non-canon and yet managed to portray this point even better. Baron Omatsuri, like Foxy, had games for the crew to play. But instead of cheating, the goals were instead designed to get the crew to no longer like each other as friends. Nami starts hating Usopp, under the false belief that he’d abandon her to die over a stupid game. Usopp effectively hates Nami because he can’t understand why she hates him. Sanji and Zoro already had beef with each other and it just intensifies in this movie. And then lastly, Robin and Chopper wander off, leaving Luffy all alone. As we learned in Baratie, Luffy prefers having 10 or so friends over having 500 crew mates that are all disposable. But when your crew mates aren’t disposable, what happens to the Straw Hats when they break apart? Ultimately, Baron Omatsuri is a vision of what Luffy would be like if that were to happen. He’d not only be in denial, but try to spread his horrible experience to everyone else. After this, Luffy finds his crew almost all nearly dead, he just about sacrifices his life to save them. Instead of telling Luffy to not die for their sake, the crew instead asks in their dying breaths to save them. This is a dilemma the crew no doubt thought over after it was all said in done. But once Luffy wakes up, they leave and act as though nothing happened.
You see, if you just throw Aokiji in there, Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island makes a much better prelude to Water 7 than Long Ring Long Land. It still has the fun and games, but without the annoying people. It still makes the crew question their value as members and what it means to be a Straw Hat. It still asks what length Luffy should go for his crew mates, and vice versa. The difference is that it’s darker, more is at stake, and it’s just more entertaining.

One Piece Movie 6 izle 1080p izle
