The ONLY way to reintroduce Cisco in season 9 is to have him do one of his classic just-in-time saves while Barry's in a dangerous situation, and Barry gives him this WTF look that doesn't leave his face the entire time they're fighting the villain. Then once the villain is properly knocked out or in police custody or whatever, Barry and Cisco turn to each other, and you think they're gonna have their "hey good to see you, bro!" moment and hug, but Barry still just looks shocked, and Cisco's like, "What?!"

And Barry just shakes his head in bewilderment and goes, "Dude, when did you cut your hair?"

while I was on the floor doing something kinda boring I had a thought and I think I’ve come to a conclusion as to why I don’t like clara in s9: the character arc isn’t what I dislike, it’s that the character arc doesn’t really fit clara

clara in s7b and s8 I can tell are the same character; yes the teacher thing did come outta nowhere and was solely to bring back coal hill school for the fiftieth, but with how her job is utilised in s8 I don’t actually mind this. s8 does give clara a bit more character beyond the conclusion of the impossible girl arc and I feel like a lot of the time that would’ve been it for the character, the actor would leave the show and they’re reduced to only being that arc. so I think that’s great and wonderful. however after last christmas, clara should’ve left. it was the perfect moment for her to go, and three series is a lot of time for an actor to play a companion especially in the modern era; a new companion means that there’s a new jumping-in point for new viewers, which is something s8 lacked imo because it immediately jumps in, first episode of a new series, expecting you to have watched the previous christmas special (if not the whole name/day/time of the doctor trilogy) and gives you all these characters already established instead of a clean slate. but that’s a side tangent.

when we jump into s9 clara is this #girlboss double agent for unit and it seems... jarring? like yeah I do expect that of her in a way but not quite as much as what’s presented. and yes I love the toxic ‘companion becomes the doctor and then pays for it’ arc but I just don’t feel like it fits clara, especially with the whole ‘I never want to stop adventuring with you’ thing. this is supposedly the same character who decided to just. leave it there at the end of s8? the same character willing to sacrifice herself in s7? character development is a thing but that doesn’t mean that a character is inconsistent

so what I think s9 should’ve gone like this:

perhaps during the dark water/death in heaven finale, there should’ve been a unit character introduced. or not, because I don’t know exactly how to make that work. but then clara leaves in last christmas, leaving s9 to start with the planes stopping and in unit hq, kate stewart, osgood and this new unit character (for the sake of not writing that Every Time, let’s call her alice) get the message from missy. osgood travels to meet missy, accompanied by alice as protection, and the three of them get transported to skaro for the magician’s apprentice/witch’s familiar. the banter that happens can still happen juse between osgood, alice and missy. osgood is the one who gets shut inside a dalek, and missy tricks alice into staying behind so that she can trick the doctor into killing osgood, but alice shows up at the last second shouting that it’s osgood inside. episode ends, osgood gets invited to travel with the doc - still lonely after clara’s presumed death - but alice asks to come instead, having been taught a lot about the doctor due to being in unit. doc says yes. at the start of under the lake, the doc tells alice the rules, including to remind him to use the cards that clara told him to use (the ones that come up later in the episode). the story goes by much the same, but instead of clara it’s alice and the doc is more like ‘I have to protect alice because she’s new to this and I’ve thrown her in the deep end’ etc.

then we get to the zygon story and MAN could this be so much better if bonnie used a unit character instead of clara. those episodes really had a lot of potential but it fell a bit flat. rest of the series is pretty similar to normal. alice tries to encourage the doctor in places where it fits by saying ‘what would clara think’ and so on. then we get to the face the raven episode where rigsy phones, and the doc gets mad like he does in the actual episode that clara just gave away the number for ‘no reason’, but is convinced to go by alice by way of ‘what would clara do in this situation? she gave the number for a reason and there clearly is one’, so they get involved. alice, being reckless because of the sense of adventure travelling with the doctor gives - leaving before any real consequences start, takes the countdown, similar to clara, and dies. potentially she is brought back by the time scoop in hell bent but honestly I have so many thoughts about that episode that idk if that’d still be a plot point by the time I’d be done rewriting it. if she was, I do want the whole memory-wipe thing to happen and here’s how;

the whole series alice has been in clara’s shadow and after the doctor and me’s conversation something snaps in her, meaning that she decides to either wipe his memory of her and in turn her memory of him or clara’s, the memory wipe breaks and he forgets most of both of them (this is mainly so that the implied impossible girls from before eleven’s era aren’t really a Thing because that whole sequence was just nostalgia-baiting and I’m mad about it nearly a decade later lol) and out of guilt, and probably at least some sense of duty, alice agrees to be returned to her timestream.

#this is. entirely opinion. and I am not as much of a clara hater as I once was I'm actually quite middling towards her now #I also really like thinking about alternate ways things could've gone had one thing happened or not. #I just think s9 was a wasted series. so many good notes but the bad notes are glaringly obvious #not that my whole alternate series nine is any good either. I just thought that it might fix a few things by tweaking it like I have #yes I chose alice because it sounds like alistair. like the brig. only reasoning behind that one #but yeah this is mainly me rambling because I Don't Think s9!clara Is The Same Character As In Previous Series #so making a whole new character might well make that series work. y'know? #nobody's reading this far I'm not tagging this post lol

Carol will have two different stories moveing forward in season 2

To find Daryl

To find home is to find each other ❤❤❤

The main focus of season 2 for me was always Daryl and Carol coming back together and what does that mean? And it becomes ultimately a story about how we as people can save each other. She's trying to find him, but in the process of telling that story: How are they ultimately getting to a place where they're kind of saving each other? So that was a big part of it.

The only thing that can save us is ourselves, is each other.And we're telling that through this big frame of France and the story and the characters that we've set up, and the world that we've set up, but in a more intimate way between Carol and Daryl.

The radio call did a lot of heavy lifting in terms of that, both for an audience of fans who I think got very excited when they talked on the radio, but also for an audience that maybe is new to the show and is going ‘oh, there’s this person back somewhere in America who loves him and whom he loves and something’s going on there. I don’t fully understand that she’s in some other place. And then you see her in episode six looking for him.

This moment in the radio call in episode 5 where she talks about something or someone having come back. And the impression we get, and Daryl also gets, is that something's a little off for her, something's wrong. And so that's going to also function into the story for Carol in season 2.

Remember Heath?He went missing when he and Tara went out looking for supplies in s7. According to Kang, Heath was taken by Jadis and the Scavengers off-screen and was traded off to the CRM for supplies. Did he managed to escap and return to Alexandria,to tell Carol and team family where Rick/Michonne are or did he find a radio to connect with them and that's how they find out where Rick/Michonne are?

My guess is Caryl leaves France by the end of s2. I would hope s3 is just the two of them on the road together,exploring their new romantic relationship while trying to find their way back home to Alexandria orr on their way to find Rick/Michonne. My point is i don't need Isabelle and Laurent tagging along like a third wheel when they leave France.

We deserve a season just focused on Carol and Daryl and their journey, preferably with kisses,hugs and lots of passionate nights under the stars.

You could have a nice plot twist with Cadron actually being Laurent's real father,maybe the reason Cadron didn't kill Daryl is because when Laurent and Cadron looked eyes,he saw something in his eyes and in that moment he realized Laurent is his son. He knew Daryl would get him safely to the Nest,and that's why he didn't kill Daryl.Then Cadron,Isabelle and Laurent can play house at the Nest,while Carol and Daryl leave. If Laurent has a real father,there is no reason for Daryl to be portrayed as a father figure to Laurent anymore.

Carol has an internal story

She also has this internal story, which we've only hinted at, but there's a whole internal Carol story that plays out across the episodes of season 2. And so she has a great dual track that we're setting her off on and we've shot some of that already, and it's going to be fantastic when it's all together.

So what's Carol's internal story?

What if she was trying to tell him Ezekiel is sick,his cancer came back. If not for Henry,i highly doubt Ezekiel and Carol would have turned romantic. Carol was pretty pissed in s7 when Ezekiel kept showing up at her door,not to mention she thought the whole concept of him being King was ridiculous. Henry was the glue that kept Carol and Ezekiel together,with Henry gone their house fell apart. We all remember Ezekiel telling Daryl to back of in s9,how jealous he was when Carol turned to Daryl for emotional suport. Ezekiel is well aware of the strong bond Carol and Daryl share,and the reasons why it never got explored. Ezekiel and Carol have mantained a strong friendship,maybe he's the one who tells Carol to be honest and tell Daryl how she really feels. A friend telling another friend she deserves to be in the light,she deserves a happy ending too. Maybe Ezekiel dies durring surgery that takes place after Carol talked to Daryl,with Ezekiel death and Carol waiting for Daryl to return. She does a lot of soul searching and when Daryl doesn't show up as promised,she goes looking for him. To find him,and tell him how she truely feels. When they do reunite again,they have that honest conversation they never had in find me

Orr if i could pick something better....Carol and Daryl had a night of passion before he left,and while he was gone Carol found out she is pregnant. I know i'm grasping at straws here,but I would so love for Carol and Daryl to have a child together and to have their own little family.

@therulerofallpotatos tagged me in this sweet little game yesterday, but I was hellbent on getting my Weyler Week Day 7 story finished, so I'm doing it today!

Rules: Reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers.

I've only written seven fics so far, six of which were for Weyler, and five of which written specifically for Weyler Week, SO this may feel like a bit of a rehash of my postings this past week, but that's okay!

wake up screaming from dreaming was my first Weyler story and I spent months working on it. It's still probably my most favorite thing I've written so far! I was nervous writing from Wednesday's POV because she's such a particular character, but I honestly felt like I nailed both her and Tyler's characterizations in this one. I'm still a bit blown away by how many people read it, seeing as it was my AO3 debut, and totally shocked by the sheer amount of favorite Weyler authors of mine that commented on it, letting me know just how much they enjoyed it.

paper rings was intended to be a Weyler proposal one-shot but it went and turned itself into my first-ever multichapter fic! It's not debuted on AO3 as well as I've hoped BUT it's one of the things I enjoyed writing the most. It'll be an absolutely fluffy little ride that also has some quality bonding time between Tyler and Donovan. I'm hoping it finds its audience as the rest of the chapters get shared. Will be updating on Saturdays in case anyone's interested! <3

you can't be gone was my first go at proper Weyler angst, and I tried out a "stream of consciousness" writing style to match how I felt Tyler's mind was reeling by his last encounter with Wednesday in S1E8. It was rather depressing to write my boy struggling so terribly, but it was great to put my thoughts of how their infamous encounter in the woods unfolded from his POV down in a story.

Quads and Countermoves was a story I managed to churn out in a measly four days, which is RECORD time for me (most of my stories so far took me AT LEAST a week to write from beginning to end). It's a funny, sweet, snuggly one-shot in which Tyler insists Wednesday take a nap, but she insists on being a bit difficult. It was also my first go at dipping my toes into more physically intimate territory with the two of them (although it was quite literally child's play compared to the smut many of the fantastic Weyler authors write!), so that was fun for me to write!

For my last rec, I'm actually sharing the link to The Demon Soul, my first EVER fanfic I wrote manyyyy moons ago and published on fanfiction.net. For having written it when I was just 16, it actually holds up rather well! It's a Destiel/DeanCas fic that I wrote after the Supernatural S9 finale. I'm considering dragging it over to AO3 just so it can live with the rest of my writing!

im so interested in how you'll tackle jodie's era -- it's been so interesting to see you go through nu who and in such an organized way!! i really enjoy seeing how you talk about each episode and pick the various elements apart && it even made me want to go back and rewatch the tail end of moffat w/ bill & clara with capaldi, even though i'm not generally a fan of his!

heya, thank you! it's nice to know a few people were reading them (I deliberately didn't tag them doctor who, because I didn't want to clog up the main tag, and I didn't want to ruin anyone's good time if they weren't interested in a big complain)

I'm just finishing up a comprehensive excel sheet that I was doing simultaneously with this watch, in which I documented all the ratings I gave each episode, measured average rating per season, and which points tended to do better or worse as a whole throughout the years, and then also gave short points on the pros and cons of each episode with "recommended" ratings.

point being when it's all put together like that, I can see there are some really good episodes throughout this era, and -- despite how much I rag on m*ffat for writing narrative that comes from nowhere (and he does that all the fucking time) -- a comprehensive thematic thread from beginning to end, although in my opinion some of it comes from fandom reading into things (as is a good pastime) more than the actual text of the show

in general I noticed that capaldi-era skewed higher in the ratings (especially s9 and 10), because... well I still wonder if part of it wasn't capaldi's influence on the writing, but whomst knows. I have yet to finish the final episode rating which all of us who know it know is a return to some unfortunate as fuck writing choices, and listen, I was almost, almost wishing m*ffat could have had a little more time because I wanted Bill to have a little more time, and then this episode came and reminded me why m*ffat should never have more time to write anything, so small upsides

rambling at you now officially, this is short ramble length ah well.

I won't be doing such an organised measuring of whittaker's era, a. because I don't know it so well yet (I've only previously seen s1) and so don't have as much of a sense of its episodic structures, and b. while I know it has some things that are great, the things that aren't so great feel more involved and less easy to put on a rating's system. also c. this actually got quite exhausting after awhile (once the hyperfixation novelty of the idea of rating every episode wore off)

so I think for whittaker will be more informally jumping in and out, similar to some of the classic!who watching I'm doing. can say I very much enjoyed the woman who fell to earth, more than I remembered doing, which I think is because last time I got to whittaker I was post-m*ffat tired of the show

so it's nice to know he hasn't ruined my excitement for it this time around, I've found the Things that are for me in his era by poking and clawing at it!!! but isn't that just the doctor who way. sometimes you check out for a bit but it pulls you back in again (affectionately)!

1. your main fandom of the year: Star Wars, as it has been since 2015 (and other various stretches before that). Oscar Isaac was a close second.

2. have u watched a film this year: I don't think I've watched many new movies, to be honest. The new GotG movie was the only 2023 one. There are several I really want to see, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes for one. Barbie, too.

3. your favorite book this year: I actually just started reading novels again this year, but for now I've only been reading Justine Davis' Cutter's Code series, because I fell behind and instead of just starting where I left off, I started from the beginning again. I think the one she's writing now will be the last in the series and that will make me very sad. It's been a 10 year journey.

4. your favorite album or song this year: I started collecting the greatest hits of some of my fave 80s artists this year, so I'll consider all of them my faves: Bryan Adams, Howard Jones, Michael Jackson, Alabama, Prince...

5. your favorite tv shows this year: Ahsoka was amazing, despite straying a bit from our beloved Rebels. I keep going back to Moon Knight, even if it's from last year.

6. your favorite tumblr community this year: I've really become absorbed by the Oscar Isaac fandom, especially the writing side. I still don't feel like I belong, but they keep inviting me in and are so lovely, I can't refuse.

7. your best new fandom discovery of the year: Stranger Things. Everyone that knows me kept telling me I'd like it, and it was always on my watch list, but I finally got to it this year. I'm only on S3, so no spoilers! I also feel like I've been reintroduced to the X-Files fandom. I was there almost in the beginning and have never stopped loving it, (although I'm not going to lie: I was disappointed with S9 and 10), but with so many new fans here on Tumblr, I'm finding that old feeling is coming back.

8. your biggest fandom disappointment of the year: The severe decline of my ship, Damerey. I was a 'late bloomer' to the on-line side of that ship, and as such have yet to be tired of it. Not sure I ever will be. (Am I tired of Han and Leia? Nope. Mulder and Scully? Absolutely not) There are still some amazing writers out there and some amazing stories that I have hopes will be finished someday, but it's become a very quiet ship. I am so thankful for the wonderful readers I have that are helping me to keep it alive!

9. your tv/movie boyfriend and/or girlfriend of the year: Poe Dameron. Duh.

10. your biggest squee moment of the year: The news that Daisy has signed on for a new Rey movie. I'm bound to be disappointed in my hopes for a Damerey mention (or even a Jedistormpilot mention! Disney would never!), but I'm still going to enjoy the hell out of my favorite Jedi!

completely started over on my one-chunk base bc trying to build on evens was making me tear my hair out. i think this is starting to hit the vibe i wanted a bit better anyway.

to reiterate from whenever i posted about it last, my main inspirations are Bdubs' s9 base (temple overtaken by people far in the future, v cyberpunk inspired) and the build Lizzie did in her latest Empires episode (itty bitty critter city, a one-chunk build she packed all four of her districts into).

i do want the build to eventually be ridiculously tall. like. out of render distance tall. and just look like it's been added onto more and more as time has gone on and people have moved in and left again, if that makes sense? and now i'm the one that lives there and i'm me-ifying it 😌💖

9.10 makes me so frustrated because i think--i THINK--it could have led to good stuff had other writers followed through. first we have dean, hating himself for making bad choices that he made that got kevin killed and sam possessed and cas left out in the cold for months. and he has really fucked up in this instance, and continued to fuck up for a while and so he’s justifiably mad at himself and then in comes cas and dean’s like ‘be mad at me’ and then cas....says things like ‘you were stupid for the right reasons’ and ‘we both got played’ and just like...i remember being so mad at cas because why is he absolving dean of all this? like 1. cas you deserve to be mad, but unfortunately you think you deserve to be punished and also believe that your ability to be loved is tied to your usefulness and 2. a lot of this is not yours to absolve? kevin is DEAD, dude.

and so then they get sam back. and dean is like ‘be mad at me’ and sam IS, and then dean pulls out the ‘i’m poison, i get people around me killed’ speech which completely misses the point, and blanket statements about “what a terrible awful person i am” are not an apology for wrongdoing--they’re just telling people that you hate yourself (have not watched bojack but people making bojacknatural posts, thank you for showing me that one scene). and then, wonder of wonders, sam CALLS HIM ON IT and tells him that his ‘i’m poison’ thing completely misses the point, and will not solve dean’s problems, and at that point i was like?? are they gonna solve dean’s problems?

but no, dean decides that if his family is not going to punish him for being terrible and awful and poison then he’ll do it himself, so he goes and gets the mark of cain, which just unleashes a whole new set of problems, and then they just never address this again.

I just recently joined your fandom, and I'm not a native speaker, so I don't always understand how to determine if the information is reliable. but I'm used to drawing conclusions only after listening to the arguments of all sides.

I was just looking for all sorts of nonsense on hashtags and accidentally came across an old article (apparently j2), where it says that before the start of season 9, a survey was conducted whether viewers wanted a big return of Cas, and most responded with ridicule. There was also about the fact that episodes with his participation are less appreciated and viewed (although I am almost 100% sure that I have seen the opposite statistics somewhere), and in general he is absolutely not popular among fans. That his panel doesn't sell tickets and stuff. I wanted to ask you, as a person who knows more about statistics and spn. Is it really so. because I just refuse to love the world that Cas doesn't love.

I will be very grateful if you decide to answer this question.

That's the shortform answer since you struggle with language. Now the longform.

This was a desperate ploy of their already failed Silent Majority. After Gamble tanked out S7, she brought Cas back after swearing not to. Immediately during the S7 finale, they started planning ways to prove what you said, but they ran into issues. Mostly, that they couldn't get any sizeable amount of people to join, because they were full of horse shit, even after they tried to rebrand it on the outside as "preferring" brother content rather than wanting Cas gone. They capped at 240 participants, despite aggravated efforts on their part.

Then, while they swore Cas being back would destroy it, Carver era soared and flew back out of the toilet Gamble almost got it cancelled in. S8 went against all industry trends upward, then S9 hit the highest respective industry value to date. There's a reason Jim Michaels and Beaver called them idiots and blocked them.

Then, around S10, the fandom census was run and, yet again, among 10,000 tested individual IPs, only 240 people said "prefer sam and dean", and of those 240 people, if you break down their voting through the hundreds of questions, just like the failed Silent Majority, a bunch were just people not aware of what that actually *meant* and still at least neutral or vaguely positive to Castiel as a character, just brother-leaning. And, just like the Silent Majority, there were only about 45 dedicated antis total. Which, I'm sure you recognize, is a goddamn sliver in this fandom.

There is no open, widely cast net demographic test or poll that gives them what they want. Sometimes they'd run it on their own niche sites, or twitters, while blocking out anyone they could find they disagreed with--and sometimes they still lost.

Also: Re ratings: The opposite is true. There was an S8-10 episode marketing and character presence test that showed Castiel episodes performed by base 3% better than eps without him, 6% better if it was promoted as such, and up to 9% better if the episode was promoed with "Dean & Cas" content specifically. These numbers also translated to my own study on The Castiel Effect years later, which I pulled episodes from S12-14. This stuff is ALL in my years of the #demographics tag, so feel free to dig. I even did a version of the Cas Effect where I penalized out any "special" episodes that may have given him a boost, and premieres and finales for their boost, and just stuck his averages with generally tepid episodes between and he STILL. CAME. OUT. HIGHER.

They say a lot of things they want really bad to make true, but they just don't get it. The "lower ratings" point came from them not understanding industry Y2Y decline, and when I explained how that worked they spent years crowing something deranged about "baseball stats" because the words "league average" confused them. Then, ofc, when Walker crashed out by 66% in the same year it aired, they screamed "Y2Y decline", because they were still too busy drooling on themselves to recognize it was the same TV year, and thus not Y2Y decline, and they just hoped everyone buried their bad argument. They're literally morons trying to google anything they can look up to use as an argument without even remotely understanding any of the content they're entering into the argument, they're just there to argue and pretend it's valid. They don't even understand/believe a damn point they're using (hence the Y2Y opinion flip of convenience), it's just there to make noise so they can feel better about themselves.

Kim-Ruzek turns one!!

Officially, a year ago today I made this account. I was being driven mad with Thoughts about cpd and burzek and although I thought I'd never come back to Tumblr, I did because I needed to share those Thoughts. I had an idea of how this was going to go; I thought that it was quite likely that I'd get it out my system then move on, and I was very apprehensive about this fandom, thinking there was a not small chance it would be a very toxic and not great place to be in.

Instead... This year has been one of my favourite fandom experiences ever, which really shows how incredible this fandom truly is depending I had a bit of a mental breakdown in October because of the show. My very first week here-- well, give or take, because I started posting at the end of march despite making the account today-- I remarked that this was one of the best fandoms to be in, that everyone was so kind and sweet and honestly that's remained true throughout this whole time.

I was gonna make a bigger deal out of my blogversary, but in typical Ree fashion, I got depressed again and honestly half the things I had planned I felt apathetic towards. BUT I knew I'd hate myself later if I didn't do something (because I really am happy I reached one year!) so I'm doing a very low-key thing. Just a couple of ask game guides and a bit of a fun drabble game-- which will be open to partake in all week!

Hey!! Desperate here, sorry for being so abrupt LOL

I’ll tell my story on how I ended up here, asking a question, but OH MAN, I’ve been a fan of Spader for a while, long while, easy explanation would be his voice to begin with.. but today I decided to finally rewatch The Blacklist again because why not, I���ve watched some episodes in the past but randomly, not knowing a thing about the plot. So today I decided to start from the Pilot, watched some episodes and I immediately got involved, but something I also noticed was the… you could say sexual tension going on with the protagonists, I was sitting on the edge (english isn’t my main language, but I’m 99% sure that’s the expression) feeling so many emotions watching Red and Lizzie, I was going insane like “WHEN ARE THEY KISSING?!!!” so I couldn’t wait and went to google thinking I’d end up spoiling myself on their romance… when I found out there was nothing but confusing headlines about the latest season or something about their real relationship I was so confused I was like “No?! this says nothing at all about them!!” and after googling for a while I came across Tumblr and a tag with their ship name. I was so happy, logged quickly into Tumblr again, spent the last few hours watching gifs and reading what you guys had to say about them and oh… it shattered me in a good and bad way, learned about their ending, and how messy the whole idea of the characters together was because of the producers… I had faith, but instead of leaving disappointed I was craving more and more of this sexy relationship that for SURE was about to be love for me, so I ended up reading some fics and wow… they wasted a whole story of love in here… ISTG the second I started the show I was like “Oh he’s going to manipulate her to fall in love with him and it will be steamy! that has to be the whole plot” and no one can tell me they weren’t into each other… MEANT for each other… this will forever be my newest and craziest ship I lost in the way… but I already know it has a BIG space on my heart.

So my question would be; how would you explain and name their relationship? could you tell me is it worth it to suffer and watch them not kiss for many many seasons? was there ever a chance for romance in their dialogues or the staring once? (such as this scene I think I saw of Red doing that typical sexy Spader face when Lizzie went blonde) or them holding hands?

What even happened? why did they ruin the chances of them being a couple? it was there the whole time! I really wanna learn the thoughts on them from this community and about their best moments and how you know that for sure there was a spark in their scenes that implied what we wanted, and that implied their love which is… clearly not father daughter ??? I also wanna know about those theories but I don’t get anything!! I just wanted them to end together… but now that I know I don’t think I can go through all the seasons and suffer but I can just watch the gifs of them dancing :) but thanks for reading this and if you answer giving me your time :) I swear I feel like a MESS because of them and I only learned about them today, earlier…. save me cs I’m suffering but in love with 2 characters so badly…

Omgggg I'm so sorry you sweet innocent anon 💀💀💀💀 I was you about five years ago when I got into this fandom for real and started writing Lizzington fics, however at that point the worst we had to worry about was considerably less than it is now.

Ummmmmm I literally don't know what to tell you 🙃 but I'm honoured you reached out and happy you got so much enjoyment from the great fics out there (would love to hear what some of your faves were!)

So I should say firstly that I watched only til the end of the previous season (8) and literally know nothing about the show for s9 other then my weekly spoilers from @thetwistedargent about Ressler's butt (loll).

Anyway, what DID happen, anon? What happened to Red and Lizzie's chemistry and relationship? I guess the writers decided to fuck with us all, for lack of a better explanation. I'm still sore and bitter about the weird way the show turned into something super different than what it started as.

As far as the show goes, I think Lizzington shippers in general agree that it's worth watching at least seasons 1 through 3. The second half of S3 is where the Lizzington content takes a steep curve downwards, but there's still some sweet episodes in later seasons (Greyson Blaise is popular). If you watch the show til then, and then move to reading fanfic, you can preserve some of that excitement and pure enthusiasm in your heart.

Post season four, what can I say? It is a different and not great show. Post season 7 in my opinion; not even worth your time. But you'll know what feels best, and if you do keep watching til s8 you're welcome to stop by here and let us know what you think.

There's still a pretty engaged fandom here that is refusing to acknowledge anything past s8 lol, so we'll be here if you need us.

Is it worth it to suffer and not see them kiss? I guess it's a personal call. For me, the underlying sexual tension WAS there, and I kind of filled in the blanks with the fics I wrote over the years.

In on highschool and I’ve just started watching smallville im on s9 but tbh I’ve found it completely boring and in without motivation to continue lmao still wanna get trough the ending. Its also nice to find someone who dislikes lois, i always found her annoying. oh gosh for a second i was scared when i got this ask because my inbox actually censored it (I have cl*is blacklisted because there is probably no other ship I have this amount of contempt for... and the shippers always stick their Lana-Bashing in the tags intentionally or not). It is frustrating when I see l0is get all the fame and recognition because her name is iconic to feminists or whatever, when she's literally such an obnoxious character. her personality is "nosy, bossy career woman gets into trouble because she's headstrong" and I Just Do Not Get The Appeal At All.

MEANWHILE... Lana Lang is my absolute ALL-TIME favourite character in anything ever. Smallville wrote her as a girl-next-door with a sad past but hope for tomorrow, and she went on such a journey. I know her character flaws and I know where the writing lacks. But what I ALSO know is everytime she falls, she gets up and tapes her shattered heart together and even when her life has been nothing but darkness and pain from the day her parents died to the last time she left Smallville, she still chooses to seek the light. Her whole story is about innocence falling to darkness and having a choice about whether to become darkness or return to light. She's not perfect by a long shot, but that is why hers is a story about redemption and that's why I see her as an archetype of Eve, a representative of womankind, in the story where Clark is seen as the savior and Lex is seeing as the devil.

Anyway, don't worry about finishing the series. Many Clana-shippers never bothered. There is no reason to. She barely gets brought up maybe two other times and cl*is is written to insult clana fans and as if to replace clana with a dimmer, duller, lifeless version that had no romantic chemistry and made no sense.

Favorite episode?????? Um, hard to choose. I ADORE the Pilot... it just immediately has such an innocent quality to it, sets up the whole show, and immediately why Clana Is The OTP. Literally their conversation in the graveyard is Everything™ by Lifehouse and MORE. Nicodemus, Red, and Spirit are some classic memorable episodes that pop into my head ("Craving" also pops into my mind, but NOT in a good way as it features Amy Adams Eating A Whole Deer On The Side Of The Road). I also really love the finales of the first two seasons. Especially the last 3 episodes of season 2 (CLANA WAS SO PURE). I also have strong feelings from Arrival, Mortal, Hidden, Reckoning, and Promise. But I also LOVE AND ADORE LANA'S LAST 5 EPISODES.

Hello my friends!!!! How are you? Happy New Year!

This is another meta from this series. This time I will dedicate the entire meta to episode 9x10 Road Trip, it was a very Destiel one, and we could see how Castiel was comforting Dean the whole time, it was so sweet and romantic.

I want to say thank you to my friend @agusvedder , she made the first for this meta and discussed with me the episode! Thank you girl!

You Are my Oasis

Okay, this sounds very romantic, because it is...

When Castiel went to see Dean, because he called him (!!!) at the beginning of episode 9x10 Road Trip, we knew he had to burn Kevin's body, he was tremendously sad, but when he saw Cas... He smiled and... He complimented him, he checked him out, he was really enjoying the sight of Castiel. Cas is Dean's Oasis in this episode, is Dean's comfort. He called him because he needed his help, and because he needed his friend. He needed someone to be there for him. So this episode showed us how Dean relayed on Cas, but not like friends... If you rewatch it, is like seeing one man comforting his boyfriend. Is the sensation that it left me while I was paying attention to the Destiel scenes.

So Dean talks with Cas ... Remember when they talked with honesty? 😭💔

Well, Dean is feeling too much guilt, and Cas is trying to shove that out from him. He is comforting Dean the whole time! He is saying the exact words Dean needs to hear.

And then...

Cas can't let Dean call himself stupid, he stands up to point his position, to remark to Dean his words. To have Dean security with it. And because he understands him... Cas felt he was a dumb too, when he thought he will save Heaven by trusting in Metatron, and that costed him his grace.

And because Cas is beautiful, inside and outside, is delightful for Dean, is his Oasis, is his comfort...

Talking with the eyes

Really, this episode is breathtaking. First we had Dean smiling, checking out his gorgeous angel even when he was so destroyed. And now...

While they were interrogating Crowley, they were looking at each other almost constantly, and is perfect, because, their crossed gazes, being so so close to each other, when Crowley was talking about Dean... About what torments Dean...

CASTIEL: Kevin is dead.

First topic that is carving in Dean's soul, the guilt of Kevin's dead is on the table now, and Crowley made a fest with it

CROWLEY: Oh. I'm sorry to hear that.

CASTIEL [harshly] Don't pretend you care. You tried to kill him.

CROWLEY: I told him this was gonna happen. I was the only person who tried to warn him. I told him to run.

Crowley is trying to drag the conversation to the fact that Dean is dangerous. Everyone who gets bear him, dies.

DEAN: From what?

CROWLEY: You. How many times am I gonna have to say this? People in your general vicinity don't have much in the way of a life-span.

When Crowley exposed Dean's fears and guilt, Castiel reached for his eyes, to comfort him, he is saying DON'T LISTEN TO HIM. LOOK AT ME, YOU ARE NOT THAT. YOU ARE NOT DANGEROUS. I KNOW.

This glare is so beautiful, is so comforting, Crowley is trying to hurt Dean and Cas is protecting him for that harm, with just one look, because they talk like this. With the eyes. And this is very very romantic.

CROWLEY: Now, I can't teach you how to crack open an angel. It's more... art than science. But I can do it for you. All I ask in return is a little field trip. Dying for some fresh air. Chains on, naturally.

DEAN: No.

CROWLEY: No? Of course not. Because if I'm plan "A," I'm sure you have a totally viable, much better plan "B."

CASTIEL [and DEAN pull aside] You can't be considering this.

DEAN: With the chains on, he can't do anything.

CASTIEL: It's Crowley. He can always do something.

CROWLEY: Looks like we need a tiebreaker. Go get Moose, squirrel. [DEAN's mask slips and you can see his guilt]

Unless... Unless, of course, you can't. That's why you're here, isn't it? The poor giant baby's in trouble again, isn't he?

Another Guilt exposition from Crowley: Sam, possessed by Gadreel, now are gone and that's a huge problem now. So...

Second exposition of guilt, and Cas is searching for his eyes again. Another comforting glare to Dean. WE WILL FIND HIM, WE HAVE A PLAN. EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE OKAY. SAM IS GONNA BE OKAY.

If this isn't romantic, I don't know what it is. Complicity and comfort on those gazes, so much love and understanding. Cas is there to be Dean's Oasis.

Comfort Me

It was very comic watching Cas and Crowley fighting like children, it was really a sit com right in front of our eyes.

And don't forget the fact that Cecily, the demon , mentioned angel Castiel was hot, and she called him too Capitan Sexy, like... Castiel's sex appeal is well known between angels and demons.

But let's focus now in that important scene when Crowley tried to get Gadreel's name in Sam's body.

Watching Sam's vessel suffering was too much for Dean, and he had to leave for a moment. If you recall that time when they had to lock Sam because he was having this demon drinking issue again, and Dean left, and Castiel saw him but he didn't follow him? Well, this time is totally different, because, Cas was the whole episode paying special attention to Dean, and when he saw he left, he followed him...

CASTIEL: Hey.

DEAN: I can't watch that anymore.

CASTIEL: I understand. It's not Sam, but... It's still Sam.

Castiel is comforting him again.

DEAN [voice cracking with emotion] Pretty much, yeah. How are you doing?

CASTIEL [kind of surprised] You want to talk about me now?

DEAN: I want to talk about anything that's not a demon sticking needles into my brother's brain.

[DEAN looks out a window trying to control his emotions but we see tears pooling in his eyes]

Yeah, humor me, man. How you doing?

CASTIEL: Uh... I'm okay.

Dean asks Castiel to distract him, maybe is something Cas didn't know how to send or how to response, so Dean shows him how.

DEAN: Good. Good. That's, uh... So, what, you just change the batteries out, power back up? It's that easy?

CASTIEL: It wasn't easy, but I didn't have a choice.

DEAN: Yeah. Well, that's usually how it goes.

Dean takes Castiel's quote to elaborate his apologies, because that time when he kicked Cas out from the bunker, it wasn't easy, but he thought he didn't have a choice. That's why he says THAT'S USUALLY HOW IT GOES.

DEAN: Cas... I'm sorry.

CASTIEL: About what?

DEAN: Kickin' you out of the bunker. That's, uh... You know, not telling you about Sam.

Remember when Dean could say I'm sorry to Cas?? Damn... But really... He couldn't even give a description to what was kicking Cas out from the bunker... Because it was horrible, and friends don't do that.

CASTIEL: You thought his life was at stake.

Castiel keeps comforting him, he doesn't want Dean feels more guilt.

DEAN: Yeah, I got played.

CASTIEL: I thought I was saving Heaven. I got played, too.

Cas is saying here SEE? I MADE MISTAKES TOO. DON'T BE SO HARD WITH YOURSELF.

This is perfect, how Cas steals another smile from Dean, how Cas comforts him again, all the time, trying to make Dean's weight less painfully to carry.

When they had to decide to enter inside Sam, Dean trusted in Castiel, but that wasn't possible and they had to let Crowley to go inside.

After this, and by the end of the episode, when Sam and Dean fought and they got separated, Cas watches Dean one more time, again comforting him...

To conclude:

Cas behaves in this episode like Dean's support, not just as a friend, because he does it with a dedication and a sweetness of a couple. Dean looks for that in him, and he finds it. The dedication and the support that Castiel gives him goes beyond a simple friendship, because there is intimacy and confidence in their eyes. Love and devotion.

I was watching the ep where they got Cas back after Lucifer stabbed him and I couldn't help but think "dang, it's a shame all this is still subtext." And then it dawned on me that it's not subtext. That if Cas were a woman, there'd be no doubt that her coming back was the pivotal moment for Dean that season. But they didn't outright confirm it because they don't think they had to. It's not subtext just because they don't spell it out. But we're conditioned to think that way with same sex ships.

hrrrrmmmmm... see I waffle back and forth between feeling like this is a postulation that could be useful for people who claim they don’t see it, and feeling like I need to douse myself with purell for even having to consider it, you know?

I tend to file this information under “things that make me slightly uncomfortable while also being a useful tool for people who are open-minded but just might need a little nudge into understanding what being bisexual feels like sometimes...”

I mean, dig back through my pages of posts in my “casual viewer stories with mr mittens” tag and somewhere there’s a post from like s9 (it was years ago) where he said “if Cas had been in a female vessel, he and Dean would’ve been married by now.” And somewhere else where he said, “too bad Dean’s straight.” And just... when he said these things (out of the blue, randomly) I’d been so caught off guard I kinda just blinked and stared at him like... who said Dean’s straight? but unfortunately didn’t actually say it out loud.

I was just... so dang flummoxed that anyone could look at Dean and not think he was a repressed, closeted bi. But then I remember straight people exist, and I’m married to one, and realize that yes, this CAN be a helpful tool to explain the dynamic we see constantly between Dean and Cas.

Because bisexual people exist. *waves hello* And sometimes bisexual people NEVER jump out of the closet. Sometimes we just think it’s easier to stick to what’s more socially acceptable (especially for someone like Dean who lived most of his life on the road with no attachments... strange small town where he’ll be for a few days at a time? Usually easier to draw less attention to himself by hooking up with a woman than DOUBLY putting himself at risk when he’s trying to maintain a cover id for a case and not getting himself run out of town for hitting on the wrong dude...). Not to mention the generation Dean was raised in, the lifestyle he has led (hunting seemed to be SUPER heavy on the dudebro types until their more recent reintroduction to the community through Jody’s hunder connections, the Witch Twins, etc.), and the transience of his life for years and years, believing he would never be able to actually HAVE any sort of long-term relationship at all. For a one-night stand? Sometimes it’s easier to play straight, especially in a lot of the sorts of towns we’ve seen them visit on the show (yes it’s 2019 and people need to wake up to the fact that bisexuality is real, but hooooooboy there’s still a lot of homophobia out there, and I get it).

SO! All that said... yeah, if someone REALLY just doesn’t understand where we’re seeing all this destiel subtext (and text tbh), then asking that simple question and inviting them to ponder the ENTIRE series again under that What If scenario... well, if that person STILL thinks Dean and Cas would just be pals, then I don’t think there’s any hope for them at all.

If their ONLY objection remains, “Well, but Cas is STILL in a dudesuit, and Dean is STILL straight, so...”, then I invite them to remember that bisexuality is a real thing, and that some bisexual people NEVER actually come out of the closet (which is TOTALLY FINE and A PERSONAL CHOICE and it’s always best to do what’s safest and most comfortable for yourself), and some only admit it to themselves later in life when they DO feel safe and comfortable enough to settle down that way... or until they discover they’ve fallen in love with their best friend and to their eternal wonder they discover their friend has also fallen in love with them...

Sometimes that’s just how things happen.

But I like to tell people to consider this bearing in mind that from the pilot episode, I completely identified with Dean Winchester... as someone who only came out as bi later in life, because when I was a teenager, literally did not even understand that was a thing someone could be. I was just really, REALLY confused for a long time. (and I’m five years older than Dean, and can completely understand the isolated way he was raised, his entire life one giant ball of intensely managed secrecy, that it’s absolutely something he would’ve believed best kept well squashed down and buried right alongside his memory of his mother and his own self-worth).

But just ponder for a moment, if Cas had always been in a female-presenting vessel-- which we have seen him in TWICE now (Claire Novak and the woman he possessed in the flashback scenes in 12.10)-- would he still have used male pronouns? Because he always did use male pronouns, independent of having a male-presenting vessel. (and yes, this opens a whole other can of worms which I already made one long post about: https://mittensmorgul.tumblr.com/post/174088047410/do-you-think-at-this-point-in-time-cas-thinks-of )

And all things considered, there was STILL the barrier Dean felt between them, clearly illustrated by his “last night on Earth” with Anna. It wasn’t her GENDER that kept him from being with her, but one she was an angel again... she pretty much instantly shut him down. She was also the one who explained to him what angels feel versus what humans feel, specifically listing the experience of sex as one of the reasons she chose the painful act of tearing out her grace, specifically to become human in order to feel that. So... what has Dean been left with regarding Cas’s OWN feelings about human intimacy in general?

Even after 5.03, when a female-presenting person was willing to have sex with him, Cas... didn’t even REMOTELY get it. In fact, he didn’t get it until he WAS human (which... 9.03 is its own horrific can of worms here, but this was the first time Dean realized that Cas MIGHT in some way at ALL be interested in human intimacy). And then almost as soon as he became human, Dean was forced to make the horrific choice (let Sam die on the spot, or kick Cas out). He gets ONE CHANCE to even SEE Cas during this time, and it’s a situation where Cas nearly DIES, bringing on a ton of guilt and making Dean feel like he made the right decision keeping Cas out of all the supernatural nonsense for his own safety. *cue rending of garments and gnashing of teeth*

And then the next time he sees Cas, Cas... isn’t human anymore... and Dean’s... resigned to that fact.

It’s always SOMETHING standing between them, you know? It’s not JUST the apparent physical gender of Cas’s vessel. But if playing a round of “what if” helps folks jump that hurdle for themselves, then I don’t see anything wrong with it. As long as the conclusion they draw isn’t “well then that’s the eternal barrier standing between them and we can’t do anything about that,” then refer them back to the above essay on bisexual people repressing the hell out of that until they feel safe enough or comfortable enough or just have REASON enough to step out of the closet. Okay. I guess that’s enough for that. :P
