the muse's canon
((While I am someone who's practically absorbed most of the MSA lore in its entirety? I've still mostly ignored Vivi's memory amnesia since it often never made much sense to me story wise. I still keep some of it in tact to make it recognizable when it comes to her canon material, but I've spin it so far from its said source material that she's half unrecognizable if you're somewhat familiar with her character lore when I've had her remember a lot of her trauma to practically drag her in the mud to be just as depressed as her boys.
Lewis is about as near to canon as you can to a portray, but I have thrown some of my own headcanons into the mix to make him somewhat more interesting than just having him being the ghost murder; he's a himbo who knows a bit of magic, but isn't entirely an expert when his memory erasure wish didn't go to expect plan. Arthur is someone who's more than just a canon coward, HC wise I like having him as someone who came from a abusive home where his father didn't accept the fact he was asexual. Mystery is a doubtful guardian to his family, but he's also a dad to a plant monster of his own murders and mistakes. Shiromori was just a child raised with a bad father's morals being remade into being a normal grumpy neighbor. Reverb is still a dick, but he has more HC involved stuff with the gang it'd be hard to untangle him from my HC stuff when he barely had any lore to begin with.
And that's only the surface of what I've written in the past six years.))

hear me out denji x asexual reader /pos
i feel like the fanfiction fandom really lacks of queer representation esp aromantic/asexual one so i'm here to change that 🤭
it will be a regular trope, in which basically y/n is makima's sister and the two of you met during the trip to enoshima
author's note: i only read around chapter 55 so some things might not be accurate/canon 🗿 there might be some grammar errors since i'm not a native speaker so please bear with me 🩹
(also ngl i'm lazy to write denji's "i can't fall in love with someone else than makima" because i just woke up and bffr he deserves better (by better i mean me obviously) but yea idc i alr specified this wouldn't be canon)
‼ALL CHARACTERS ARE AGED UP ‼
✨enjoy✨
POV: y/n
it was a peaceful afternoon of summer. you were waiting for your sister's call to pick her up at the airport. you remembered the last call she gave you and, even though she didn't show it,you could feel that she was missing you.
before you decided to head to the airport, you decided to buy some groceries, so that you could welcome them well.
you came back home with some yakisoba, some raspberries and some strawberry flavored rice alcohol, as you knew it was makima's all time favourite.
as soon as you started cooking, your phone rang.
-hi, y/n here! you said cheerfully.
-hello, y/n, said calmly makima. are you still OK with picking us up at the airport?
-sure!! you said happily. but what do you mean by "us"-?
-thank you!! she said, interrupting you ,not answering your question.
what did she mean by "us"? you thought as you made your way to your car. wasn't she supposed to come alone?
POV: makima
-makimaaa, denji said with a pout, when's your sister comiiiing ?
-be patient, denji-kun, she's on her way, i said with a smile.
power sighed loudly as a way of saying "why can't she come faster?" ,while angel and aki remained silent.
i headed to the closest shop to get denji, power and angel ice cream.
i swear to god they can be so childhish sometimes i said to myself.
my phone vibrated. it was a text from my sister.
oya big sis, what's up? i'm next to the building b, i'm waiting for you !! hurry bitch i'm not gonna wait forever. c'ya <3
i couldn't help but smile at my phone. even though we didn't meet much due to our jobs,we always loved seeing each other.
-oiii, who's text are you smiling at? both denji and power asked.
-it was y/n, she said she's under the building b. come on kids, let's go!
we all headed to where my sister was, happy as we could be with our almost melting ice creams. y/n also got herself a strawberry one, the kind of ice cream we used to eat when we were children. seeing she remembered this was heartwarming.
POV: y/n
-HEYYYY BIG SIIIISSS HOW ARE YOU??? I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!! you yell as you run to hug her. hold on. who are these people? you didn't tell me you weren't alone.
-the name's denji!! he said cheerfully claimed.
-i'm power! nice to meet ya!!
-my name is aki hayakawa. mice to meet you and thank you for the ride.
-ice cream, said who i assume was the angel devil.
the ride was a little uncomfortable because i wasn't used to talking to people i didn't know. the heavy silence lasted for a while until my favorite song came on the radio. i immediately recognized the first notes of sweet/ i thought you wanted to dance.
-AYO I LOVE THIS SONG yelled denji, TURN THAT SHIT UP
we all swayed to the music on the way home, and it made me feel a little better to see that i wasn't as alone as i thought i was.
as soon as we got home, while i was preparing yakisoba for the rest of the group, makima joined me in the kitchen to ask me:
-i booked four hotel rooms, do you mind having denji staying here?
at first,i wasn't comfortable with sharing my appartment with someone i barely knew, but afterthought i was like "hey why not that's a good way to get to know someone"
OK this is the first part ngl i'm a bit lazy to proofread myself so i apologize for any mistake there can possibly be.
thank you for reading and have a good day !! (∩^o^)⊃━☆

.. the cinema-hopping date chapter with makima is very telling about her character in a nutshell. makima has watched plenty of movies, before, enough to know that she only finds one out of ten interesting. when her and denji go on the date, makima can't connect with the movies in any emotional capacity at all. there's not even a negative reaction to them; when she gives her thoughts on them, they're short, to-the-point, and are stated more like facts than what she thinks. the rest of the audience, in the panels they're given attention, do have emotional reactions to what they see.
makima doesn't look at the stories the way others do, she doesn't connect with them, and she looks at it with a more objective lens. makima is detached not just from the stories but humanity as a whole - as she was raised, and as is 'natural' for a human. it's not until her and denji see the final movie, alone in the theatre together and watching the movie 'no one understands', that makima finally expresses a genuine emotion, and perhaps the most 'human' emotion we've seen from her in the entire manga. she cries.
i think what makes this moment so impactful, and why it matters to makima's character, is that her connecting with the movie is what she wants as a whole. which, yeah, is basically spelled out by fujimoto towards the end of part 1, but why does makima make a habit out of watching movies, despite the fact it seems she doesn't care about them at all?
because there was one movie she's seen before that she connected with, that she saw and something resonated with her, and she catches a glimpse of what humans feel - something she's wanted for her entire life. makima chases and chases after the stories that humans love, in case she gets that feeling again. if she felt it once, then she should feel it again right? but while this is happening, while she's chasing after fictional stories and tales of the chainsaw devil, she's disconnected from that humanity.
the final two pages of the chapter, when denji asks makima if he has a heart - that's not just denji himself the manga is asking the question about. does makima have a heart?
for denji, makima says yes. she puts her head against his chest, and listens to his heartbeat - to pochita - and confirms he does. she walks away and leaves him alone in the dark. she's saying yes because that's what denji wants to hear, because she cares more about his literal heart than anything else about him.
but the way she's shown to 'prove' it. denji is not asking literally. makima answers literally. even though she connected with the movie just before, she still can't with a 'human'. it's always a power dynamic with her. when she walks away from denji and leaves him alone, vulnerable and confused and infatuated, she's so close to understanding genuine connections on more than an objective level. but she, of her own accord, leaves, the understanding is gone, and denji is left in the aftermath.
