I’ll set the stage, adding more detail to this picturesque lifestyle cottage through each photo. My hope is that you’ll imagine right alongside me. (8/12) My little white cottage with thatched roofing not only has Canadian Geese, Black-Capped-Chickadees, and Mallard Ducks, but it also has Black-Crowned Night-Herons?? To me, these stocky and compact birds bring a whole new type of fairytale vibe to the property! Mystery?? Darkness? Is my cozy cottage not as cozy as it seems, or is it so cozy that birds of all types feel comfortable here? Like their name suggests, the Black-Crowned Night-Herons mostly forage at night. During the day though, a family of three can be found spending time together on a small, bare tree that stands on the edge of my cottage’s property next to the stream. They perch here, basking in the golden glow of the evening sun.

(7/12) I mentioned before that I spend a lot of time admiring the reflections that shimmer across my peaceful pond, but I didn’t go into further detail. It just so happens though, that my peaceful pond with tall tufts of golden grasses poking out of its water has a round beach of soft sand on the side of the pond closest to my little white cottage. Between the pond and this beach is a thin strip of relatively long, green grass. Sometimes, I sit on a blanket with a book and a picnic basket in the sand while I’m relaxing by the water. Other times, I sit on a wooden bench that I’ve placed where the sand meets my white clover lawn. Every time though, the soft wind catches the blades of grass much like the way that it manages to turn the pages of my open books.

(5/12) My little white cottage with thatched roofing is surrounded by an abundance of wildflowers. In between the rich green patches of lush, white clover are vibrant specks of color. The same yellow wildflowers that grow along the backyard stream’s edges grow throughout the clover adding to the fairytale aesthetic of the cottage. In certain areas of the yard–like along the stream and at the bases of both the mailbox and flowering trees–these wildflowers grow in slightly more congested patches. Whenever I see these patches of yellow, all I can do is smile: even on a cloudy day, there is sunshine in my yard.

(2/12) My little white cottage with thatched roofing sits next to a large pond. In the quiet evenings, the golden hour light reflects off of the water in the most magnificent of ways. Tall tufts of golden grasses poke out of the water here and there. This is where I spend a lot of my time. I sit outside near the water admiring the reflections that shimmer across it. Often, I am joined by a couple of resident mallard ducks. Although quiet, they are great company and always bring a smile to my face.

This year's annual photography series is officially here! It's warm. It's cozy. It's soft. It holds onto that typical Pábitel Photography brightness. It's comfort and whimsy. We have birds and flowers and incredibly peaceful landscapes. Each photo makes up what I dream a cozy fairytale cottage lifestyle to look like. (11/12) Okay, this one isn’t necessarily part of my little white cottage’s property, but it’s important nonetheless. My little white cottage with thatched roofing sits in a rural area, away from city noises and people. It has flowering trees, a gorgeous flower garden, a backyard stream, a peaceful pond, a tulip-lined pebble path, and more. Behind the cottage, and directly backed up to the gently flowing backyard stream is a beautiful meadow. Far in the distance, in this meadow, a windmill stands tall. It’s a stunning view from my bench by the pond. Sometimes, when I’m collecting flowers for my kitchen table, I will grab a handful of tulips, hold them up to the horizon with the windmill just behind them, and pretend I’m in the Netherlands.

(10/12) Have I already mentioned having a bunch of winged friends at the cottage? Yes? Well, here we go again! My little white cottage with thatched roofing has a multitude of resident birds: mallard ducks, black-capped chickadees, black-crowned night-herons, and of course, Canadian geese. The cute Canadian geese tend to nest along the banks of the small stream that gently flows along the back edge of my cottage’s property. In the Spring, I am blessed enough to see a handful of the fluffiest goslings. They follow their parents out of the stream bank’s tall grasses, through my white clover lawn, all of the way to my peaceful pond for a quick swim at least once a day.
