Strawberry Milkshakes

Paxton Hall-Yoshida x Reader -  House parties turned into late night drives. [1.3KWords]
The house shook, its walls were trembling as music bounced off every surface. The dwelling was too small for all these teenagers to mingle in, but its foundation stayed strong as people continued to stomp all over its hardwood floors. The home never wavered as it weathered the storm of spilled drinks and drunken make out sessions. Everything was loud, and strangely dark with only small pockets of light creating pathways. You absent-mindedly drummed your fingers to the beat of music, the tips of your figures sticky from your beer.
This wasn’t your first rodeo. You’ve been to plenty of house parties before. You usually enjoyed these type of events, finding enjoyment in the lightshows and the friendly catchup sessions with old classmates, but this one was different. The overwhelming sense of crowd made you feel so small yet so big. It felt as if even a minor misstep into the wrong direction could create irreversible mayhem but it also felt like that you were just a spec of dust to these other high schoolers. It was an odd feeling. And you hated it.
Paxton had his arm wrapped around your waist, and another holding a red solo cup. The teen was trying his best to listen to Trent’s latest entrepreneurial scheme but it was hard to stay focused when his concern for you was coursing through his veins. He could feel your skin grow tackier and your muscles beginning to jitter. Paxton had decided then and there that enough was enough.
The call of your name snapped you out of your trance. You turn towards your boyfriend, confusion lacing your features. Had you missed something he said?
“You there, Bun?” Paxton asked again. “We can go home if you want.” He had abandoned his spiked drink and the rest of his best friends story entirely. His eyes pierced through your graze, making your heart skip a beat.
“Oh, I wouldn’t want to ruin your fun. I’m fine.” You reassured, taking another sip of your drink. The brew did little to calm your nerves. Usually you’d be a blushing mess of a person hearing your boyfriend – the Paxton Hall-Yoshida – call you by that nickname. But the smog of the room was beginning to become suffocating and you had lost the ability to say much more than your words of half-hearted optimism.
“Nuh uh, c’mon we’re getting you out of here” Paxton declared. His arm swooped fully around your body, supporting your back as he guided your stiffened stance out the door.
The fall winds caused goosebumps on your skin when you met it outside. The distance between the house and Paxton’s Jeep was a short one, but your dizzy state left you incredibly slow. Paxton was patient though, continuing to guide you through your journey to the car despite the sloth-like pace, whispering soft words of ‘Don’t worry take your time’ and ‘It’s okay, I’ve got you’. Once you reached the safety of the Jeep you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. You felt a hand on your forehead as the teen took in your current condition. You let Paxton tuck your sweat soaked hair behind your ear and dab your cheeks with some left over takeaway napkins that he kept handy.
Although Paxton was worried sick about your sudden panic at the party, he couldn’t help but muse at how beautiful you looked. The scrunched fabric of your top did wonders for you, especially as the white fabric clung to your skin. Not to mention the silk of your black skirt, and how it draped over your tired legs. Oh God.
“My eyes are up here, Yoshida.” You teased, gaining back some of your energy. “Although, I never get tired of how you look at me.”
Paxton's laugh was music to your ears, a spell that made you fall harder every time.
“I’m sorry. You’re just burning up and those long sleeves can’t be helping.” He replied while disregarding his growing blush. “I know what will help though.” Paxton looked at you suggestively with his eyebrow raised and an arm reaching towards you.
You gave him a questioning look back, unsure of what type of funny business he was about to perform next.
“A late night drive with all the windows down and singing to the Jonas Brothers songs all the way to Foster Freeze for milkshakes.” Paxton shot you a wide smile as he closed the gap between the two of you to roll down your passenger side window. The two of you were practically nose to nose now, his lips seconds away from yours. “Your favourite activity.” He stated knowing exactly what this proximity is doing to you.
Your throat bobbed as you swallowed the unexpected lump that had appeared. Before you had a chance to act upon the situation, Paxton quickly pulled away.
Within moments the Jeep began to roll down the streets of San Fernando Valley. The tunes of your favourite childhood boyband filled the air as a hurricane of brisk evening winds and traffic lights filled your senses. Though even the cold gush of wind wasn’t enough to cool you down from that heightened moment, the mental image of your boyfriend’s lips permanently seared into your mind.
Foster Freeze had the best strawberry milkshakes. And though Paxton would typically argue for team chocolate, even he had to admit that the strawberry milkshakes from the dinner was something other-worldly. As he pulled the vehicle into park, he decided to push your buttons further. Just a little bit. “Okay, what would you like Bun?” He asked, giving you his signature dreamy eyes.
“Just a large strawberry milkshake.” You requested, giving him a doe-eyed look in return.
With a light nod, Paxton began to make his way out the car without another word. And just as he had predicted, the second his hand reached the handle, he heard a audible protest from your pretty mouth. It was quiet, but unmistakable and it made Paxton’s gut do summersaults.
You couldn’t see it, but the grin that grew on Paxton’s face was shit-eating. “Are you forgetting something?” You asked innocently, not wanting to admit the yearn you had for a kiss. Your boyfriend always kissed you before he left anywhere, no matter whether it was for five minutes or five hours. Paxton never left you empty handed.
“Oh right,” He replied. Turning back to fumble with the middle compartment before fishing out his wallet. “Almost forgot, thanks! You’re so thoughtful (Y/N).” He began his exit again before feeling the soft tug of his t-shirt.
“I think you’re forgetting something else.” Your advised, your voice so delicate that it almost made Paxton’s heart burst.
He couldn’t help it anymore. The teen turned around once more, his hands landing familiarly on the side of your face, placing your lips right into the crevice of his own. You tasted like left over booze and candy lip-gloss. Paxton felt you relax in his touch, your wandering hands finding the hem of his jeans. This made him smile into your kiss, making the touch breathy.
“So just a strawberry milkshake?” Paxton asked pulling away and returning your ability to breathe.
It was your turn to nod lightly now, your kiss-stained lips turning into a teethy smile. “And a large fries please.” You added, finally allowing him to run into the diner before it closed.
You admired Paxton’s figure as you watched him exit the car and walk towards the restaurant, his figure getting smaller as the distance between the two of you grew. He waved at you half-way, offering his patented teenage heartthrob grin. You smiled back, your mouth still burning from the kiss he left you with. Even from a distance you can see the mischief within his eyes as he continued walking backwards. It was if he was  asking you, ‘Are sure you don’t want anything else?’
And you did want one more thing, Paxton knew that. But that’s a different dessert that you’re gonna save for another late night drive.

Part 1 - Ablaze
Pairing: Ethan Morales x reader 1.3k words Tags: make out, angst Warning: swearing
My fingers grazed against his chest and as I let my hand wander down his torso, I felt every muscle under twitch in anticipation. I looked up at his face and he was already looking at me with a mixture of lust and longing.
“I missed you,” he whispered.
Oh and I missed him. For what other reason would I have climbed through his window at 2:12 in the morning?
But I didn’t say it back. That’s what got us into this mess in the first place. Me caring. Me wanting him so bad it hurt. Me falling while he was always just having a good time.
“Babe?”
I looked up at him, pulled out of my thoughts by his inquiring tone.
“Just kiss me,” I demanded.
He only hesitated for two seconds, just briefly enough for his brown eyes to send a silent question, “everything okay?” But his mouth never asked; it was too busy connecting with mine in a blazing kiss that threatened to consume me, him, both of us together.
Everything was on fire. Everywhere he touched. Everywhere he kissed. My skin burned with his touch and for it. We barely paused for breath as he laid me down on his bed. He unlinked our mouths long enough to grab the hem of my shirt and help me out of it. Then we lit up again.
I glided my fingers in the soft waves of his hair as his mouth found the spot where my neck meets my shoulder. His teeth gently grazed against the skin, just enough for me to feel the pressure but not enough to cause pain and then his tongue followed. He started trailing downward to my chest with that same technique.
"Ethan." It was a half-whispered moan. I say half whispered because it was not as quiet as I intended it to be.
At his name, he looked up at me, smiling that damning adorable smile of his and placed a finger over my lips.
"My parents' sleep next door."
He was better at whispering than I was. Probably had more experience at this kind of clandestine middle of the night type of encounter. Before the bitter thought took full effect in my head, his mouth clashed against mine in another fiery kiss. Almost like he wanted to distract me from my own thoughts.
It was working.
The kiss that started like a flame scorching through us with intensity and desperation, simmered down into a heart wrenching slower tempo. Our mouths molded together, his tongue slow danced with mine in perfect unison... and I was lost.
Lost to the sweet taste of his lips. Lost to the movement of his pelvis against mine and the calculated motions building up the fire that he had awoken in me. Though we still had enough clothing separating us from the fusing of our bodies, it didn't dampen the ever-present ache within me.
With the way he touched me, you would think he felt the same.
So, I was lost. Lost in the depths of longing. Longing for this guy that could never ever reciprocate such feeling in return.
I pushed away from him as abruptly as I had the thought. I was met by a look that someone that didn't know him would think is concern. But I knew better.
"I have to go." My words practically a mumble.
"What?" he seemed disoriented in a way, his eyes searching for something in mine that I didn't want him to find.
"It's late," I said, "If we wake up your parents, they'll disown you for real this time."
Ethan's eyes though still confused, hid partially away by the appearance of his mischievous smile, "So what? They've disowned me like 50 times already. Just this year."
I rolled my eyes.
"You say that with so much pride," I whispered, simultaneously pulling myself out of his grasping hands. I heard him groan in protest behind me as I pulled my shirt over my head.
"Because the shit they say doesn't mean anything. They think that by acting like they're disappointed in me, I'll just magically turn into the son they always wanted. It's bullshit."
I shook my head at this rant and turned to face him. He had gotten up from the bed as well and was less than two feet away from me.
"If you really didn't care, you wouldn't' have shushed me earlier. But God knows you're too cool to admit to caring about anything so I'm not having this argument with you." I sounded defeated. He noticed the change in my tone immediately, his eyes narrowed.
"Why do we have to argue at all? There are way more fun things that we could be doing right now." Even as he said it, I could see that he didn't mean it. Something in his expression closed off at my previous comment.
"I have to be up early anyways," I said gently.
"Sure. Whatever." He walked towards his window. I followed behind until we were in front of it.
I looked up at him. He didn't seem to want to look me in the eye as he avoided my gaze. I gave up.
"Okay. I'll see you around then."
My voice was small, and I hated myself for it. This is where we end up every time. I understand that he has never claimed to be anything but who I've always known him to be, but can you blame me for wanting more? I'm only human. And I know... that's it's wrong that I want him to change for me. I should be accepting him as he is or staying away from him, but I can't. The harder I try, the easier it is for me to end up here with him. Stuck in this goddamn tragic loop of ours.
I shake my head to myself and throw a leg over the windowsill. As I push myself out and my feet touch the freshly cut grass of his backyard, I thank God he lives in a one-story home.
When I turn to close his bedroom window, he stops me with a hand over mine. I move mine away and he frowns. He proceeds to climb out of his window.
"What?" I ask, unable to keep the edge out of my voice. I was already too emotionally drained to hide my upset.
He blinks with confusion. "What am I doing wrong?"
I huff but say nothing.
He sighs, "How do I stop upsetting you if you won't tell me what it is that you're upset about?"
I snap. "You. You are the reason I'm upset!"
His eyes widen, "What about me? "
I want to tell him. I want to tell him everything. All the things he makes me feel; good and bad. My fears. My thoughts. But I can't. Because I know what he will say.
"I didn't sign up for this".
"We had a deal."
"Don't start getting clingy."
I've heard it all come out of his mouth before. Not with me. With the many girls I've seen him with. But still. I refuse to make the mistakes the rest of them did. I will never admit that I had fallen for him. Not now. Not ever.
I held his gaze for a second, but his beautiful brown eyes made my poor heart flutter uncomfortably in my chest. I look away.
"Nothing, sorry. I really gotta go. I get cranky when I don't sleep."
I start turning around to leave, but then feel his arm snake around my waist and pull me in against him, leaving no space between us.
I look up at him in a question. His eyes scanned my face for something, though I'm not sure what.
"Liar."
That's all he says before his mouth crashes over mine.
I didn't want it. The rational part of me knew that I should back off and walk away. But as soon as his tongue invades my mouth, the heat of our flame sears through my whole being... and we're back to where we started.
To be continued...

Devi and Paxton fanfics I would read
Tumblr media
Devi gets into a car accident on her way home for Christmas and calls Paxton who lives not far from the tiny town she's stuck in for help. They decide to drive back home together, but she has to stay with him until the end of the week because he's a teacher. Devi winds up giving a guest lecture to his class about working for the ACLU which triggers some conservative parents. Together they have to convince the school board not to cancel Paxton's civic engagement project. Also Christmas.
Devi is dealing with life as a single mom and has made the hard decision to move back home for some additional help. Her daughter is not taking the divorce well and is feeling crushed by Devi's impossible expectations. After starting a fight in school, Devi gets called in to speak with her daughter's teacher, only to be confronted with Paxton Hall Yoshida.
Paxton's sister Rebecca hires Devi to represent her in her discrimination lawsuit against a major fashion designer. The case reunites Devi with Paxton, who clash over how to handle the case in light of the heightened media attention on Rebecca and his family.

Update as of Jan. 2023: Requests are CLOSED.
FANFIC REQUESTS FOR NEVER HAVE I EVER
Open to anything while we (im)patiently wait for Season 4. Feel free to comment, reblog, or send an ask with potential requests!
My ideas:
Fab and Paxton had a lot of chemistry in S3 so I'm thinking about a fake dating AU where Fab eventually ends up with Aneesa or Eve. Paxton thinks they're becoming good friends but Fab's using him to make the girls jealous.
Freak Friday AU where Paxton is the neurotic, straight A student and Ben is the laid back, popular jock. Or one of the guys in Devi's position.
She's/He's All That AU. Would be a mix of the OG and the Netflix remake! Paxton and Ben make a bet about if they can make Devi popular and win prom queen. (Can be done with any pairing!) Both guys eventually apologize and then one pair falls in love.
Celebrity AU where Devi is famous and loses a major job/gets replaced because of her temper. She struggles to get work until Ben or Paxton becomes her new agent and help rehabilitate her image. Think shows like Hacks, The Comeback, etc.
Will not write ince$t or non-con!

A Little Help ~ Part 2
Tumblr media
A/N : ikk ikk it's super late and apologize to those who asked for this months ago! I just started school and it's hard to write a lengthy fic in a cramped time. The GIF is not mine! Enjoyy~ PART 1 : https://bitchylandtyphoon.tumblr.com/post/657628055677894656/a-little-help
—————————————————❈————————————————
“Ok, so you have to add this number right here to solve the equation but you should try writing it all out if you want to memorize it, ok?” “Yess, thank you very much Y/N” You flash him a smile in return. You were currently at the familiar kitchen table teaching Paxton some advanced math formulas. Since Math was the most difficult for him you wanted to start with that. You were thinking about starting science next since you guys mostly covered Math throughout the past weeks. “So, Y/N do you...have a boyfriend?” Paxton asked attempting to avoid your eyes “Wh-what? Why does that peak your interest all of a sudden?” You asked, eyes wide.
“Well, I- just uh. It's nothing, forget about it.” You’ve never been so embarrassed before. “Do you want more juice or something? It’s been a while since you were here.” He was right, you were at Paxtons house for a good amount of time and you couldn't deny the fact that you were a little hungry. You would kill for a pizza or something. “Nah, I’m good thank-” Your stomach growled loudly making you cower in embarrassment. “Ok, maybe ill go for a sandwich or something.” “Don't worry about it, I’ll order some pizza” Paxton smiled as he reached for his phone. “Thanks,” you gave a thankful smile at him. “Anything specific you want or don’t want?” Paxton questioned as you were cleaning papers off of the kitchen table to make room for the food. “Uhh, no not really, I'm ok with whatever” You watched Paxton as he went into the living room leaving you alone in the kitchen. You spun around in the stool and you waited for his return. Trying not to make a lot of noise, you walked to the wall full of pictures. Throughout all the years you were friends with Rebecca you never took the time to look at these pictures carefully. You didn’t wanna roam around. You looked at each picture carefully trying to catch even the smallest details. You smiled as you saw the Yoshida family going on adventures and capturing the special moments they’ve had in their life, it was adorable and interesting at the same time. You couldn't help but smile when you saw pictures of Paxton and Rebecca when they were younger, in every one Paxton's smile was wide as an orange. He was so cute you couldn't stop yourself from giggling. It was sad that Paxton didn’t smile as much now, he looked nice when he smiled. “Pizza’s gonna be here in 20-ish mins, we can chill in the meantime” Paxton announced as he walked back into the kitchen. “Alright, thanks again,” you said as you looked at him. As you went back to observing the pictures you felt Paxton appear beside you. “You know, I can never understand why people love looking at these pictures every time they come over,” Paxton confessed as he scanned the pictures with you. “Maybe because you guys look so adorable and precious in these pictures” You glanced at Paxton before looking at the pictures again “it’s nice to see you guys getting along and smiling together.” Paxton sighed as he looked down at his shoes “The other day I was talking to my parents, and when I told them I had to raise my GPA, they couldn't believe that I could do it.” He looked back up “I don't even know if I can do it.” You looked at him sympathetically, you knew he was going through a tough time but he couldn't lose himself now. “Paxton, don't say that. You can do it, I know you can. You might not be the next Einstein but you’re a great athlete and a hard worker. You don't take shit from anyone and you’re your boss. I know that comment might've got to you, but don't let it man. You can do this” You put a hand on his shoulder and gave him a smile in which he returned as he mumbled a small thanks. “Now what do you say we ditch the books and game, you worked hard today” “Hell yeah!” —————————————————❈————————————————
“Heyyyy, that’s not fair moveee.” “Hell no, you’re already winning.” “Now that's just rude.” Going into a fit of laughter, you pushed Paxton’s hand away from your face to see the T.V better. The two of you were in the garage with an almost done pizza, soft drinks and dim lights. You watched Paxton in the corner of your eye, smiling at the happy Paxton beside you. You mentally sighed at how charming he looked. “Yes, let's go!” Paxton yelled as he stood up in victory. You laughed once again. “And why exactly weren’t you this excited when we were studying huh?” You teasingly asked as you arched your eyebrows and crossed your arms “that's just offensive sir” You said as you shook your head. “What can I say, school is not my thing,” Paxton said making you both chuckle and lay back on the couch. You couldn't blame him, school was hard and not exactly amusing. “And no, I don’t have a boyfriend,” you said as you put the controller down You could see Paxton give you a confused expression until he remembered his question from before. “Hm, do you like anyone?” Paxton cautiously questioned. “I mean, there are some people here and there but nothing too big.” you started tidying up your mess. “Plus, I wanna have a serious relationship, not some fling.” You hear Paxton hum, you hoped you didn’t hurt his feeling or anything, he did have a thing for flings and not the best relationships. “What about you, don’t you get chicks every other second?” He smirked at your comment “Yep, I deff get a lot of chicks but right now I don't think I'm in the mood for dating someone” You saw as his facial expression changed to a not-so-happy one. “Heyy, it’s great being single plus you get to work on yourself you know?” he flashed you a smile. You were surprised at how close you two were at first, you could feel his breathing on your face. You didn't realize how pretty his eyes were before, they were a mixture of golden honey and a dark green forest. His expensive cologne made you wanna melt. His features were so sharp you were sure they were sharper than a knife if only you could feel his perfect face. —————————————————❈———————————————— Paxton didn’t realize how gorgeous you were until now, your face was mere inches from his. His eyes scanned your dark/bright (E/C) eyes, they were so mysterious yet somehow kept on pulling him into you. Your lashes made your eyes seem bigger and gave you a cute innocent look. He glanced down to your soft lips every so often, the closeness of you two making it hard to resist the urge to kiss you right then. Moving his hand to your jaw he gently pulled you closer to him, his hands were rough yet he touched you as if you were fragile glass. He closed his eyes as he waited for the soft touch of lips. —————————————————❈————————————————
RINGGG RINGGGG Both of you jolted away from each other as your heard someone's phone ring. The two of yous being flustered and embarrassed tried to avoid eye contact as both scrambled for the ringing phone. “Hello?” Paxton stopped searching as he heard (Y/N)’s voice, assuming it was her phone that rang. “Yeah yeah, im coming sorry. We’re done anyway. Yeah ok bye.” turning your phone off, you looked back at Paxton who knew you had you leave. “It’s fine, ill uh get the rest of the homework done, you should mm go home since it’s late anyway,” Paxton said a little less flustered yet continued to avoid eye contact. “Ok then well uh, I'm uh gonna go now.” You headed for the door giving Paxton a quick “Bye” before quickly shutting it. Paxton let out the breath he was holding in. He grazed his lips with his fingers as he chuckled at the close call. He didn't know what to feel or think, he was just too shocked at the fact that he was so flustered from a kiss that didn't even happen. He smiled, shaking his head he laid back on the couch. —————————————————❈————————————————
You shut the door behind you as you began to speed walk as if your life depended on it. Well, your parents might kill you for coming home late but you would gladly off yourself for that spicy moment. You just couldn't wrap your finger around it, Paxton did say he wasn’t interested in anyone, yet he made a move on you. Just thinking about it brought the heat to your face. Coming to a brought stop you took a moment. “Ok (Y/N), calm down, it was nothing. Maybe he was just sleepy or drunk for all we know. Nothing happened and nothing ever will.” taking a few breathers you began to walk again. It was pretty scenery outside, the sun was setting making the sky look as if it was painted, the wind was gently blowing making the trees rattle. It was Pinterest-worthy scenery. In the back of your head you felt like you were forgetting something, you know you weren't, you had your phone, your bag- Shit, you forgot your bag. You groaned at how stupid you thought you were, you were already halfway home and it was getting dark and a bit cold. Plus your parents were already waiting for your arrival. Sighing, you had two options; either run back to Paxtons house and get the bag now or go tomorrow. Either option was bad since you had to encounter Paxton. You could've asked Rebeccas but if she knew about the whole close call kiss, she would never let you live peacefully again. Giving up you decided to continue walking home, it’s fine you thought, he’ll probably forget. HONK HONK you winced at the annoying sound, turning back you saw a familiar jeep slowing down near you. “Hey, uh you forgot your bag” Of course, it was Paxton, was the universe against you or something. Couldn’t it have been someone else? God this was embarrassing. At least you had your stuff now. “Thank you so much, Paxton, really” You opened the car door and reached for your bag about to take it out. “Get in I’ll give you a ride.” Paxton offered. You were surprised, considering you ruined a moment and he still wanted to talk to you. Not wanting to make things worse, you silently got in the jeep. The car ride was pretty awkward except for the music playing in the background, he turned it up every so often. Paxton didn't know what to say or do other than to keep driving. He wanted to say something but was too scared but it was just too awkward. he kept on turning the volume up and down when he wanted to say something. He couldn’t stop himself from staring at (Y/N), they look so beautiful and he couldn't stop thinking about them after the close call kiss. He glanced at them every so often, the way their hair blew in the wind, the way they nervously bit their lip, the way they looked outside with such awe made his stomach give him butterflies. “Anyways, hehe, thanks for the ride, make sure to do your homework and get some sleep. Goodnight Paxton.” You bid your farewells to Paxton “Goodnight (Y/N), and I will mom” He chuckled, as you were about to open the door, you looked back at Paxton in the eyes and gave him a short and sweet kiss on the cheek. quickly jumping out of the car and running to your home. Paxton was stuck in time, never once did he think (Y/N) would be the one to make a move. His cheeks flushed and he smiled, a big smile this time.

Ethan's POV
Miss u
He hesitated, phone in hand, over the send icon. Then shook his head.
still avoiding me?
He held the back button until it was gone.
hey stranger
Nope. He sighed audibly.
After deliberating for a few seconds, he gave up.
"Fuck this," he threw his phone on the bed and walked away from it.
He couldn't figure out why it was so damn hard to send this girl a stupid text. He didn't know why he wanted to text her in the first place.
They hadn't spoken in over a week and whenever he saw her, she would quickly walk in a different direction, steering clear of him. He kept telling himself the only reason it upset him is because he's not used to girls dodging him. It was always the opposite. He would be the one that ghosted them as soon as they got all clingy and emotional. But Y/N hadn't said anything to him, she just stopped talking to him and stayed away.
It was driving him crazy. He hadn't kissed her since that night outside his window. That was the last time they spoke as well. He knew she had been upset that night, but she never told him why. If he hadn't been upset as well, he would have pushed her harder for an answer. Though in all fairness, he was afraid of what the reason was. Y/N had a way with words. She was blunt. Always honest. Most times when she dared throw some of those truths in his direction, it would rile him up.
She noticed things nobody else did, so he tried damn hard to not show her much.
Thoughts of Y/N halted as he heard the familiar shouting outside his bedroom door. His parents were at it again. He rolled his eyes and walked over to his desk, grabbing his earbuds. Then he went back to his phone and opened Spotify; played all his music on shuffle. He fell back on his bed and closed his eyes.
He was on the third song when he heard a crashing noise cut through his music. He took his earbuds out and rolled off his bed, ran to his door and stepped out.
Another crashing noise; broken glass.
"Gooddammit," he muttered under his breath. He ran down the hallway and took a right to get to the kitchen.
Glass pieces scattered the kitchen floor. The flowers that had resided in the now broken vase lay on the bare tiles as well. He saw his parents in the corner. A broken plate on the counter next to them. His mom held a saucepan in her hands, her grip so tight her knuckles turned pale. His father stood less than 3 feet away, hands clenched. He had no doubt that he was the one that threw the vase.
"Are you guys done?" Ethan's voice was eerily calm.
Both his parents turned to him; their faces etched with surprise as they didn't notice him there before he spoke.
His mother scrambled around the frozen statue that was his father and walked carefully around the glass, reaching for him.
"Oh honey, I thought you were out. You're never here on Saturdays." She placed a hand on his shoulder, turning him away from the scene.
"I wonder why..." he mumbled, low enough to not be heard.
"What was that hun?"
"Nothing, ma. I'm leaving now. Can you guys not kill each other while I'm gone?" He looked her in the eye, saw the sadness, but mostly, how tired she looked. She smiled through it.
"We're fine, baby. Just a little disagreement." Her voice was light, but her words were tight.
Ethan sighed. "Call me if you need me."
She had guided him back to his room, so he was able to pick up his phone from its place on the bed.
"I'll be fine. You know he's not going to cross that line." She was trying to reassure him... or herself. Ethan wasn't sure.
He nodded and placed a kiss on her cheek. As he was walking out the door, he spoke loudly, making sure his father would hear.
"If he ever hurts you again, I'll kill him."
-
Once outside his home, he looks back to the front door for a moment, then sighs.
There was a time he would never have left while they were like that. Hell, there was a time he was afraid of even going to school because he thought he would come back to some tragic crime scene.
He would skip classes often to come home to check on them. His grades dipped. But his reputation had suffered more. Teachers took a strong dislike to him for being late often, being "irresponsible" and always missing important tests and assignments. They didn't know that his life revolved around making sure his parents didn't kill each other. Nobody knew. So before long, he decided to own what people thought of him. It made him feel like at least he was in control of something.
He was good at it too; being an asshole. He had no problem screwing around with anyone or with screwing anyone over. Most times, he could convince himself that he enjoyed it. Being this way. But when he was this person with y/n, well, it made him feel like a piece of shit.
That's why he wanted to see her, talk to her, kiss her. Just be around her in any way that he could.
Because it's been a long time since he was around someone that made him feel anything remotely positive. Or anything at all.
He unlocked his phone and typed in the text box.
Meet at our place?
Read. He waited a few seconds, but she didn't respond.
He typed again.
pls?
K.
He smiled.
-
Y/N POV
I've been avoiding him for at least a week. The idea of having any kind of conversation with him was nerve-wracking. The sun was setting on the horizon; the sky turning into what appeared to be a watercolor painting, still all I could do was fret.
I stood under the robust oak tree that resided at old Woodridge Park. No one really comes here anymore, not since they built the new park two streets down. Aside from this tree, there wasn't anything remarkable about this place. It had long been since it was considered a park at all.
After five minutes, I spotted him in the distance. One hand shading his eyes from the sun as he looks around for me. I open my mouth to call for him at the same time as his eyes find me. He waves with his free hand. I slowly lifted my hand to wave at him, confused.
He seemed happy to see me, if the huge smile across his face was any indication. He even jogged over to reach me quicker. I frown at this.
“Hi.” he says as he reaches me, stepping under the shade of the big tree with me. Before I have a chance to reply, he pushes me forward, caging me with his body against the tree trunk. I gasped in surprise.
“What are you d-” He cuts me off with a quick kiss.
I gawk at him, even more confused than before.
“We haven’t spoken since last week,” I say.
“I know," is his response and then smiles, "I missed you.”
I roll my eyes. “You always say that".
“I always mean it.”
To be continued...

A/N: You are all awesome for reading and supporting part 1 of this and showing me that you liked it. It means more than you will ever know. Like I said before, I have not written in so long, so I was very insecure about writing again. So thank you for giving me the confidence to keep writing more of this. See you on the next one! xx

Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year
Pilot
(AU where Paxton Hall-Yoshida has always had a crush on Devi Vishwakumar)
Paxton has just finished his first training session of the season.
It felt amazing to be back in the water doing what he was best at, especially after having been told he needed to repeat Facing History for a third time. As embarrassing as it was, it also meant he was finally in a class with his long time crush, Devi Vishwakumar.
As he burst out the school doors towards the car park, he was surprised to see Devi waiting by the stairs. He avoided eye contact, trying to maintain his aloof jock persona and any sign of attraction towards her. He'd confided his crush to Trent long ago, only to be mocked by him.
"You have a crush on one of the UNs?" Trent had laughed.
Paxton knew high school could be brutal. He was fortunate that many seemed to like him, mostly because he was deemed as good looking to society's standards. Because of this he tried his best not to make waves or do anything to ruin the reputation, even if it meant he had to hide who he really was.
Lucky for Paxton, Trent's memory span was short lived, so Paxton never brought it up his true feelings with him again.
What wasn't to like about her?
Devi was pretty and smart. He had first noticed her at a swim meet and she was the best in the girls squad. That was until she had become confined into a wheelchair after her father's sudden death.
Paxton had wanted to reach out to her when that had happened, but he had worried she'd take his offer as pity rather than coming from a place of care.
He had seen Devi loose her cool on several occassions. Her short temper didn't bother him, it was quite endearing see her speak her mind when she thought there was an injustice, but he did not want to get on the wrong side of her. Ever.
One day I'll get the courage to introduce myself, he thought as he headed towards his jeep.
"Hi, Paxton," calls a female voice he knew all too well. Paxton's heart races and he questions if he had said his thoughts out loud.
He turns around to face her, focused on keeping his best poker face.
"You don't know me, but my name is Devi Vishwakumar," she says.
I already know who you are, but I can't admit that.
"I'm a sophomore. I sit behind you in history class."
And you probably think I'm a stupid junior.
"I was also paralysed last year," she adds softly, as he still is unable to produce a sentence, lost in this thoughts.
Paxton finally nods awkwardly in acknowledgement.
For God's sake, say something to her!
"Oh, okay, great. You are familiar with that," Devi continues. "So here's the thing. I'm into you."
Holy shit. Am I dreaming again?
"Like, I could name every class you've had for the last two years. But I won't do that. And I know you'd never be my boyfriend, because you're you and I'm me."
Paxton has to bite his lip to stop himself from grinning at her adorable awkwardness. And the fact he just learnt his long time crush was also into him!
"I was wondering if you'd ever consider ... maybe having sex with me?" Devi asked with a shy shrug.
Paxton froze, speechless once again.
Devi Vishwakumar, who had never spoken to him, was standing before him asking if he would want to skip all bases and go straight for a home run with her.
"Oh my God. I'm such an idiot. I'm so sorry," Devi stutters and turns to walk away. "I can't believe I just did that."
"Yeah. Okay," Paxton calls after her.
His brain finally able to process everything that was happening. It stung to realise she probably only liked him for his looks. After all, why would someone as smart as her, like someone who had to repeat a class.
"What?" she asks, as she turns back.
"Just sex right?" Paxton asks coolly.
"Just sex," Devi agrees nonchalantly.
"I'm down. But I can't tonight."
"Wow, okay!" she smiles excitedly. "Twist. This is surprising. Looking forward to it. Will circle back about it."
Paxton looks down as Devi puts her hand forward. He grasps it awkwardly and she shakes it fiercely to settle on their new agreement. Unsure what else to say, he continues towards his jeep, knowing he will be late to see Ojichan.
He doesn't dare to look back, and wondered if this friends with benefit arrangement with his long time crush was a good idea.

"Presents, Snow and Mistletoe" by eyedancer7a
CHAPTER 2 - It’s You
Summary:
Paxton was having a blast coming up with various activities and surprises for Devi. He wanted to start off small, just enough to pique her interest. He didn’t want Devi thinking she had a mysterious stalker in her midst.
Or Devi starts to receive surprises from her Secret Santa.
Paxton was having a blast coming up with various activities and surprises for Devi. He wanted to start off small, just enough to pique her interest. He didn’t want Devi thinking she had a mysterious stalker in her midst.
Paxton found out that Dr. Vishwakumar always took Devi to the local coffee shop for a quick breakfast on Thursday, since clinic started early on those days. This would be a great time for her first small interaction with her Secret Santa. He spoke to the manager about wanting to leave a special treat for Devi.
He ordered a large hot chocolate with the word “latte” written on it. Devi told him once, “You can be taken seriously if people think you’re drinking coffee.” Of course, she’d rather have delicious goodness to wake her up instead of coffee.
Paxton also left her a doughnut to go with her surprise hot chocolate. Who doesn’t like doughnuts? He remembered Devi ranting that she would rather be eating that scrumptious sweet treat than being at Ganesh Puja itself.
He thought about how stunning Devi looked in her traditional turquoise and gold sari that day. He had been quite surprised to see Devi kicking her locker in frustration since she was so beautifully dressed.
Devi stepped up to the counter to place her order. She had to remember to order a large black coffee for her mother. “Hey I remember you! You’re secret hot chocolate/latte girl!” exclaimed the barista. “You’re Devi right?” He proceeded to hand her the two coffees and the doughnut. Devi shook her head stating, “I didn’t order this.”
The barista handed her a bright green and red note with the message,
To: Devi
“Some Sweetness for Someone Sweet.”
 From Your Secret Santa.
Devi was floored that someone was nice enough to give her a treat! Was this kind of like pay it forward, she thought? She was even more surprised that her Secret Santa left a large black coffee too. Did someone really care enough about me to bring me a little joy?
Watching from the window, Paxton saw the happiness and surprise on Devi’s face. He wanted her to feel cared for. And the joy on her face made him feel happy too!
Devi couldn’t wait to get to school to tell Eleanor and Fabiola about her Secret Santa. Devi ran down the hall dodging students left and right. She waved her arms around trying to get her besties’ attention. She finally came across Eleanor and Fabiola gossiping about last night’s episode of “Riverdale.” Devi began to tell them about the mysterious incident that she’d experienced that morning.
“You will not believe what happened at the coffee shop today,” Devi exclaimed. Fab and El listened carefully to Devi recount the tale. “Who do you think would have left me this special surprise?” They couldn’t think of anyone that could have done this nice deed. But they were also ecstatic for Devi and the mystery behind her Secret Santa.
____________________________
The first period bell rang loudly as Devi and the rest of her classmates settled in for another boring lecture by Mr. Shapiro. Being an AP history teacher, Mr. Shapiro pushed his students to think outside of the box. He enjoyed assigning group projects. Paxton had already partnered with Devi twice this semester which had given him a chance to spend more time with her, even if it was just to do schoolwork.
He had apologized to Devi previously for not contributing more to their project with the Bunkr App. She had done most of the work for the project and of course Mr. Shapiro knew it and that’s why only she got an “A” for the presentation. Paxton wanted to prove to her that he wasn’t a dumb jock. He knew the importance of working hard and being a committed team player.
Lately, Paxton was more focused in school with Devi’s help. He strove to be a better version of himself because of Devi. He deserved to get into a good college, and not only for his swimming abilities. He wanted so much more for his life. Paxton wanted to go to college and have a career. Devi told him “that everyone deserves to follow their dreams and reach their goals.”
Mr. Shapiro needed to put the class into to several groups for their next project. Mr. Shapiro divided the students by putting them groups by their “birthday months”. “The first six people with birthdays in January, February, March and April are in group one,” he stated. “Group two can have students with birthdays in May, June, July and August." "The final group can will have students with birthdays months ending in "ber”, he laughed out loud.
All the members of the first group were standing near each other and Devi immediately grabbed a hold of Eleanor and Fabiola since they had birthdays in February, March and April. Fab couldn’t help reach for Eve to be in the group too since Eve’s birthday was in April like hers.
The gods were looking after Paxton that day! His birthday was in January so he lucked out again since he was placed in the same group with Devi.
Eleanor asked, “Trent when is your birthday?” He answered with a big grin on his face, “ I guess I’m in your group too since my day is in March.”
Devi was so excited that she ended up in a group with her besties. Of course, Devi beamed with joy when she heard that Paxton was going to be in her group again! He too was excited about getting to spend more time with her.
The group had a week to complete this project and they all had to contribute to the presentation. No slackers allowed here! Only over-achievers welcome!
The group spent every day after school on the project. They even found themselves eating lunch together just to perfect their ideas. They started to get to know each other better. Not just their ideas, but stories about their lives.
Devi had the best stories to share with the group. She had Paxton and Trent laughing so much they had tears in their eyes. Devi was never embarrassed about her adventures, and her personality made everyone gravitate toward her.
Paxton was having such a wonderful time with everybody that he forgot they were doing schoolwork.
Devi was so busy working on this project that it did not occur to her that she hadn’t heard from her Secret Santa in a few days. This didn’t bother Devi since she was having a blast working with the gang, especially Paxton. The happiness she felt working with her friends made her forget that her dad was not around to share in her happiness.
_______________________
Mr. Shapiro gave the group project a “A+”. He said the creativity from this group was “spectacular”! A jealous Ben rolled his eyes at the compliments that his teacher and his fellow classmates gave the group.
Paxton was so excited! Not even Ben Gross’s expression could bring him down off the high he was riding. The group killed their presentation! They had the entire classroom cheering and laughing, but most of all they had presented the subject material well.
He was walking tall, head held high with his chest pumped up. He was so proud of this accomplishment. Paxton had never received such a grade before in his life. He wanted to celebrate this win with these amazing people. He thought to himself, “These awesome people are my friends!”
The rest of the school day, every time Trent and Paxton saw each other, they would do a funny fist bump dance together. It reminded Devi of an endzone touchdown dance minus the spiked football. Everytime Trent saw the Coyote Girl, he howled, which made Devi giggle and smile.
Devi was waiting for her English class to start when she noticed a text message on her phone, but she didn’t recognize the number.
All of sudden her face became flushed when she noticed the message was from her Secret Santa.
Her Secret Santa congratulated her for nailing the group assignment with flying colors. How did her Secret Santa know about the presentation? Could they have been in her very own history class?
News travels fast around Sherman Oaks High. The gossiping network in the school could do some amazing things!
Devi’s Secret Santa sent her a Spotify link to enjoy some holiday music. All of the songs on the playlist were chosen to help her remember the joy, cheer, and love during this time of the year. The text message read
CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE ON YOUR GROUP PROJECT IN FACING HISTORY!
To: Devi
Presents, Snow and Mistletoe Playlist
Please enjoy some holiday musical selections to help spread love, happiness, joy, and cheer during this special time of the year.
Click on the Spotify link here to begin listening to “Presents, Snow and Mistletoe”
“There are love songs on this list!” exclaimed Devi. Could someone have romantic feelings for me? No way! She was excited to start listening to these professions of love and cheer. Devi still could not believe these songs that were specifically chosen for her!
Notes:
I know it’s a stretch about the song choice. I couldn’t find a Christmassy LOVE song with hot chocolate in it.
Hot chocolate and lingerie
Sweet kisses and rainy days
That mistletoe love can't explain it
Ornaments Make your eyes light up right away
Smile running across your face
That mistletoe love can't explain it so….- It’s You by Jordin Sparks
Thank you for continuing this journey with Devi and her Secret Santa! ❤❤❤

Basically Devi and Paxton just make out
What might have happened in episode 9 during their make out scene. This is pretty PG
“I’m fighting with my mom about her boyfriend.” Devi and Paxton were laying down facing each other. They had spent a considerable amount of time kissing but Devi knew it was almost time for Paxton to go.
“I mean that sucks. Like, really sucks.” Paxton said and twirled a piece of her hair around his finger.
“Yea, it makes me so angry that she’s moving on from my dad so fast like he didn’t even matter. And then she lied to me about it.” Devi was getting angry again so she tried to focus on touching Paxton’s jawline and cheekbone.
“I don’t think that’s true. I think he matters a lot. Maybe your mom is just like lonely.” Paxton suggested but Devi dropped her hand in annoyance.
“Yea, well.” Devi turned to lay on her back and looked at the ceiling.
Paxton knew he had hit a sore spot so he decided to move on. Instead he propped his head up on his hand and leaned over her. He started gently moving his fingers along the neckline of Devi’s shirt. Devi swallowed hard as his finger drew a line up her neck and then back down again. He traced the line again but this time went to her lips. He moved along her bottom lip and Devi resisted the urge to lick her lips when his fingers moved again.
“I like your pyjamas but I can barely touch any of you.” He whispered touching her collarbone.
“You seem to be making it work.” Devi said as she reached up to touch him again. This movement exposed a strip of her stomach which immediately caught Paxton’s eyes. He moved his hand to trace the skin and it sent chills up her spine.
“That tickles.” Devi mumbled as her back tightened. She rolled onto her side again to stop the ticklish touches but instead Paxton moved his hand to run along her back under her shirt. This was somehow much worse and she arched her back pushing her body against Paxton’s. She dug her fingers into his shoulder and Paxton used the hand on her back to pull her tight to him again. He could feel her whole body against him and she kept making these little wiggling motions whenever he touched a certain spot on her back. “Stop Paxton.”
“Does it tickle?” Paxton asked slowing his movements.
“Kind of… I don’t know how to explain it.” Devi made a little gasping sound that hit Paxton right in the groin. He saved this information for later and kissed Devi again.
Paxton was caught off guard when Devi pushed him back and got on top of him. He definitely had to save that information for later. He could feel the heat of her against his crotch and it was getting to be way too much.
“Hey, maybe we should slow down.” Paxton said against her lips. His mouth was saying slow down but his hands were quickly moving along her body and he was getting closer and closer to just grabbing her ass and asking if she wanted to have sex. She was kissing along his jawline and got the spot by his ear that made his whole body shiver. He lost control for a second and bucked up against her. She made this sound that nearly killed Paxton and she dug her nails into his chest.
“Stop Devi! We gotta stop.” Paxton gasped as he gently pushed her away from him. This isn’t exactly what he expected when he had shown up tonight. All of their previous hookups had been intense but she was much more timid before.
“What’s wrong?” Devi asked her breathing laboured.
“We should slow down. There’s always tomorrow and the next day and the day after that.” He said kissing her mouth a few times.
Devi’s face lit up as she realized Paxton definitely didn’t think this was a one time thing. She wondered if he was her boyfriend now but she didn’t want to ruin the moment by asking.
“I should probably head out before your mom catches us.” Paxton said as Devi laid down next to him again.
“Yea, she would kill both of us and probably bury us in the backyard.” Devi agreed but Paxton really wished he could stay and see where the night goes. Paxton knew that he would have to wait until tomorrow so he grabbed his shirt and pulled it on.
Devi walked him to the window and she had this look on her face that made him want to take his clothes off again. He quickly turned around and pulled himself out the window before he changed his mind.
“This was fun.” Paxton gave her a small smile and Devi returned it. “Can I call you later?” He asked. She looked so beautiful even with her messy hair and cute pyjamas.
When he kissed her goodnight, he knew he couldn’t wait until tomorrow to try touching that spot on her back again to see what happens.
