anyway umineko and pandora hearts are my top two favorite stories of all time and i can draw so many parallels between the stories' themes and characters, so finding out that you're reading it is such a lovely surprise! i really hope you enjoy the ride!! and thank you for your beautiful ph art it fills me with both joy and pain just how i like it

I really didn't know something like this happens in the LNs (anyway Break go get dumped in the middle of the "sad dad-serial killer-slut" venn) but i was told that there is one scene where Break is hanging out around taverns and like:

Gradually, Oz understood. The women probably worked at a tavern somewhere on this street. In other words, Break was one of its regular customers. In that case, Break had come to the street today in order to put in an appearance at the tavern— Sensing that Oz seemed to want to say something, Break spoke, smiling: “You will keep this a secret from my lady, won’t you?” “…So it’s something you can’t tell Sharon-chan about. Not only that, but ‘Zeke’… You go there under an assumed name? How about that…” As he spoke, Oz’s eyes were reproving. When he continued, his voice was even more ironic and slightly scornful: “‘We’ll give you extras,’ huh? I see.” Alice, who was standing beside Oz and Break, listening to their exchange, grumbled: “Hrrrnnn?” Apparently she didn’t quite understand what they were talking about. Although he would have been hard-pressed to explain, Break didn’t seem at all abashed. “I suppose you could call it a mature pleasure. Ah, you children are a bit young for that. You mustn’t, Oz-kun.” Oz grew mildly irritated at finding himself treated like a child. With a taunting expression, he said: “Listen to you. Ahh, you know, maybe I will tell Sharon-chan.” “My, my. That would be a problem.” Although he said it would be a problem, as Break spoke, his gestures indicated that it wouldn’t really be anything of the sort. Then, his expression grew a bit thoughtful. In the tone of one speaking in riddles, he asked Oz a question: “Do you know where ‘information’ tends to collect, here in Reveil?” “…Information? What sort?” Oz hadn’t expected the question, and all he could do was answer with one of his own. Break lowered his voice a bit, so that it would blend in with the noise from the crowd. “For example, in a corner of this street, there’s a tavern. Its proprietress is so influential that there’s no one in underworld society who does not know her. Her intelligence network reaches into every corner of aristocratic society, and it’s said no information fails to find its way to her.” “……Huh?” “The ladies who work at her tavern have secured the favor of many nobles, as her pawns. ‘We’ll give you extras’ is a code phrase…meaning that new information has come in.” Oz couldn’t find a response. He swallowed involuntarily. “…Wouldn’t it be marvelous if that were true?” Break smiled significantly, mischievously, as he twirled his swordstick.

so yeah my idea of tavern came from here, although i wanted to write a standalone oneshot where lottie is an undercover-barmaid and Break goes in by chance and finds her there for the same purpose as himself and chaos ensues on mutual recognition hgjfkhhaha

but since i kept their first meeting as the one that happened in Retrace 37-41, I changed the scene to whatever happens in the fic. i do wanna write a short fic solely on the tavern premise some day lol

lol sorry I am rambling now but yeah, I gotta read the novels after all ig if they have so much of Break's parttime, ahem, activities lmaoo i might get more inspiration for my fics hgjfk

How Half Of Class 1-A Gained A Crush On Iida At 5 AM: PT2 Electric Boogaloo

Oh Tenya could understand now why Shouta loved torturing their class so much.

It was a solid 30 degree day, and with no hint of a breeze, and the air conditioner was broken, so training was going to be a fucking nightmare, fortunately Tenya had the foresight to wear shorts instead of pants to hopefully keep his engines from overheating too quickly.

Of course, this happened to be half his classmate’s downfall.

Tenya was one of the last people to enter the gym, leisurely strolling to where the rest of his classmates were stretching or warming up their quirks, most of the Dekusquad in Todoroki’s general vicinity, unlike where most were avoiding the heat that naturally emanated from Bakugou and his explosions.

After their rather eventful (i.e. loud) dinner gathering on Friday night, Hitoshi and Nemuri had begged to him to let them help mess with his classmates, and honestly, how could Tenya pass up an opportunity like that?

Ok, maybe it was a little cruel, but considering that this class drove him up the wall half the time, Tenya could easily justify his teasing with ease.

(Tensei had sat back in his wheelchair with a laugh as Nemuri and Hitoshi were muttering over a quickly filling up planner with more ‘crazy person’ energy than Todoroki and his theorist board.)

Tenya waved at Shouta, barely holding back a smile. “Apologies for being late everyone!”

Midoriya was the first to see him, having turned his head in the direction of Tenya’s voice while still in mid-air from his jumps-

Only for his eyes to widen and slam into the wall with a loud ‘oof!’

The rest of the class fell into chaos rather quickly.

From where he was standing Tenya could easily see the blush on Uraraka’s face, the zero-gravity user not even realising that she was floating until she bumped gently into the ceiling, a surprised squeak escaping her mouth, causing her hands to slam down on her mouth non-too gently.

A small dusting of blush had made its way across Yaoyorozu’s face, her head swiftly turning to look back at the table where a small selection of food was placed, though with the extreme look of concentration on her face, Yaoyorozu was no longer producing any trinkets or objects.

A small scream and a small burst of flames erupted from Todoroki before it was swiftly extinguished by quickly melting ice, heatwaves emanating off of the dual quirk wielder.

‘Looks like Todoroki’s quirks gone haywire, whoops.’

Over where Ashido was standing with sheets of metal with varying thicknesses, melted clumps of metal on the ground in one pile, the acid dripping from her fingers and onto the metal no longer even burning through the first layer.

The the popping and crackling sounds of an impending explosion from Bakugou’s palm added to the chaos.

Making sure to keep any hint of a smirk off of his face Tenya walked towards Ojiro with a cheerful expression, water bottle in one hand, the other giving a cheerful wave.

Ojiro smiled back at him, his tail brushing the ground as the martial artist leisurely patted away the sweat gathered on his neck with a small hand towel.

Shouta barked at the stunned and flustered students to get back to work, the tell-tale feeling of his quirk settling over them like sudden wave of cold before it retreated again.

Ojiro raised a pale eyebrow, eyes sparkling. “What was that about?”

Tenya knew, obviously, but he was the ‘straight laced Class Representative that was just, oh so oblivious, so he merely shrugged and feigned confusion.

“I do not have a single clue unfortunately.”

Ojiro shrugged. “Alright… it was weird though, I’ll ask Hagakure later and see if she has any idea.”

Tenya nodded. “That’s a brilliant idea Ojiro! Hagakure always seems to be in the know about our classmates.”

Ojiro coughed, a small blush crossing his face. “Yeah… thanks Iida.”

Tenya smiled, huffing out a near silent laugh when Shouta called for the class to line-up for their sparring partners.

‘I’m going to have to get Hitoshi and Nemuri a thank you gift for this.’

*Omake*

Nemuri clapped like a child on Christmas morning as Tenya sat down, Hitoshi leaning over to stare at Tenya with a smirk.

“So, how’d class go?”

Tenya smiled. “Chaotic. When they blushed they desperately tried to pass it off as the heat, but they only got more flustered.”

Nemuri threw head back and let out a cheery laugh.

“So the shorts worked?”

Tenya smirked. “Well Midoriya slammed into a wall, Yaoyorozu couldn’t create anything all of a sudden, Uraraka didn’t realise she was floating until she hit the ceiling, Ashido couldn’t produce high PH levels in her acid, Todoroki couldn’t control his quirk and Bakugou was a literal ticking time bomb.”

Both Nemuri and Hitoshi’s laughter grew louder as Tenya listed off the events of that class, absentmindedly ticking them off on his hand as he went.

Hitoshi cackled. “If they were that flustered when they saw you in basic training shorts,” He gained a sadistic glint in his eyes. “Wait until they see your street wear!”

Tenya chuckled. “I think they would just shut down all together.” He straightened his posture. “Class 1-A exe has stopped computing.” His tone was a modulated and robotic, imitating a computer.

Nemuri wheezed as Hitoshi slid to the ground and rested his head on Tenya’s legs. “Oh god, I can just see the bluescreen of death.”

Tenya nodded sagely. “Yes, the bluescreen of death. Here lies half of Class 1-A; cause of death? Thighs.”

“Well that would be a way to go out.”

Tenya turned to see Tensei beside Shota and Hizashi, each holding a drink a drink of some sort, a tray of milkshakes were resting on Tensei’s lap as he wheeled forward over the grass, Shouta and Hizashi each holding a drink in one hand while their free hands were clasped together.

As Tenya received his drink he slid from the park bench to the grass, revelling in the much cooler breeze. “So what next then?” He took a sip.

Hitoshi smirked. “Unbuttoned shirt and bed hair?”

Shota groaned in despair as Tenya choked on his drink, leaning against Hizashi on the grass. “I think you’ll end up killing them before the years out.”

Hizashi chuckled. “I’m pretty sure that’s their plan at this point babe.”

Shouta shook his head. “Welp, might as well and enjoy the show I guess.”

Tensei chuckled. “I’m pretty sure that without your class, your world might be darker.” He put his thumb and index finger a few millimetres apart from each other. “Just a smidge.”

Looking Tenya dead in the eyes his dryly stated, “Revelry in the dark.” And relished in the groups laughter, Hitoshi falling against Tenya.

“D-did he just quote Tokoyami!?”

Tenya nodded gravely. “Shouta-nii has finally learned the true way of life. Revelry in the dark.”

Hitoshi shook his head. “Well if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.”

Hizashi shook his head incredulously. “And I thought we were weird in high school.”

Abyss,Wonderland,Tir ná nÓg? The Nature of the Abyss

This is a theory I came up with in October 2017,quite out of the blue. Before you read this, please know that I first read Pandora Hearts in September 2017,in one go.(It took me 3 days and 3 nights,I did away with sleep to read it,which was possible because it was after the exans and there were no classes). And then reread it around 7-8 times after that.

Now,the Theory:

I read the manga,(cried), then read it again,(cried harder),then went to re-read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,and Alice Through the looking glass, because there were obvious parallels, and innumerable references to Lewis Carrol's story in PH,and there were things I wanted to confirm. I found more parallels and references than I expected,and more than I'd seen anyone point out on the internet,maybe I'll post them someday,but that's not what I'm about. Many readers believe that the Abyss is a parallel to wonderland. But I don't think that's it. The part Oz fell into certainly seems like a twisted version of wonderland,but that isn't the true nature of The Abyss. It's the twisted,corrupted form from Levi's "experiment" which put Alyss with the core. What is wonderland? Alice's dream world,right? Or rather Alice's mind. So the corrupted Abyss is probably the state of Alyss's mind,which was,of course broken: a.k.a. the wonderland of a broken child.

But then what is the true nature of the uncorrupted,golden Abyss? I have reason to believe that it is actually Tír ná nÓg,the Land of Youth according to Irish folklore. (I am a very big fan of Celtic Music,and Celtic culture is a huge obsession for me,even bigger than anime and manga,and that's why I know these, I'm not Irish though Ireland really interests me.)

It struck me while listening to Celtic music at night, like I always do. Think about it,Time flows differently in the Abyss,as does it in the Land of the Youth. Both have time altering properties.Tír ná nÓg or the Otherworld is the land of eternal youth and golden light. GOLDEN LIGHT. It is the realm of Faeries and the place of the Ideal. According to folklore,when a person went there for 3yrs, the time he had lost was actually 300 yrs. The only difference with the Abyss is that his age came back when he returned to earth,and aged to 300+ and turned to dust,in one version on opening a box from the faeries which they told him not to open,in another when he fell of the Otherworld horse.

The best implication is in the songs of the Irish people about Tír ná nÓg, the catchiest probably Celtic Woman's one in their album Destiny. Now after Pandora Hearts,all I can think of is the Abyss,when I hear these lines:

"Time won't follow the path we came,

The world you left it forgot your name.

Stay with me,and me mine my love,

Spare my heart the pain"

.. . I can't help but think it's the lonely Core of the Abyss that's singing this,also warning the person who fell into the Abyss that even if he does go back,he won't go back to his own time.

Hawthorn trees ,which in Irish lore are often called Fairy Trees,and believed to be the are the Gates to the Otherworld... cutting down a Hawthorn is supposed to bring hella bad luck,though living Fairy Trees bring good luck and harbour faeries. (Also the Hawthorn flower symbolizes hope. In other words the tree in all its aspects mean magic,hope and fortune,but will destroy you if you try to make them yours...and I'm proud that my Ogham sign is Hawthorn...er.... I'm going off topic,sorry.)

So does it follow that when I sing "Come with me to Tír ná nÓg",I imply "Let me cast you into the Abyss"?? Maybe it does,the Golden Abyss which Lacie saw,the golden Abyss we see at the very end of the manga.

But then, this is just a wild theory my crazy mind is putting together, and I can't guarantee anything, because I can't look into Mochizuki's mind.

That being said here's something fun(this isn't a part of the theory,just an extra..er ..an omake?):

In retrace 104 we see that the concept of parallel worlds do exist in PH(hell, that was so painful) and the power of the Abyss can let you travel to such a world,even if for a short while,even if it's just a glimpse.

Maybe we could access the PH world from hours through the Abyss,aka Tir ná nÓg? Just kidding :^) Good luck finding the right Hawthorn tree,let me know if you do.

VnC ch 23 || some thoughts

There are a few things I need to point out after reading this chapter:

• Astolfo!! Woah, he seems so interesting and also blood-thirsty. With his hair most probably being red, I surmise his gemstone to be a ruby. Hopefully, if he travels to Gévaudan in advance, Roland and Olivier will join him soon! I want the trio united!! Also, remembering how Astolfo reacted to bumping into Noé, let me say: Yay, another chasseur to attempt to kill Noé!

• Rufus and Cheryl at the station platform, like seriously! This fuels my theory on the world of VnC being linked to the world of PH... I hope they are on a date! Cheryl appears to be enjoying herself, so why not? //giggles// I’m glad for every moment Rufus gets to spend at her side~

• The information on Noé’s ability were interesting but even more interesting was Vanitas who by all means will prevent Noé from drinking his blood. Seriously, how cruel must his past be? How can he bear it and cope with it all on his own? ...oh and Noé, pls don’t be such a needy jerk on Vanitas’ blood! I got the point, it smells irresistibly sweet (and yeah, of course that is all Vani’s fault) but be an good grown-up and restrain yourself.

• Another thing, why does Vanitas leave the hotel room to sleep? I more and more doubt, does he even sleep at all? Noé never has seen him sleeping (even that one time in the one-side omake Vani was curled up in a blanket, so there was no way to actually see him) and Vanitas always escapes the scene to rest. Okay, it was said they slept for days after the incident with Ruthven and after they’d escaped the catacombs Vanitas wished to sleep too and as we’ve seen he (almost) fall asleep back to back with Noé (such a precious scene! ♡) Nonetheless, never Vanitas was actually seen sleeping and even Noé always seems to forfeit his chances... It’s strange. However you look at it. But then, what isn’t strange about Vanitas? :3 By the way, it really was cute how uncomfortable and helpless they both were after they tiny “dispute” and how Vanitas eventually brightened up the situation!
