Pimpernel!! Another Sandleford rabbit <33

Sadly died tragically 😭Poisoned by humans and after surviving that killed by rabbits. Sucks </3 Technically a background bunny, but highlighted the tragedy at Sandleford and the awful behavior of Cowslip's Warren.

Drew his design and colors from the really pretty pimpernel flowers! Pushed his softness since he felt honestly like a simpler and more innocent rabbit, and the stuff that happened to him wasn't deserved 😔

#1935 - Anagallis arvensis - Scarlet Pimpernel

AKA Lysimachia arvensis, red pimpernel, red chickweed, poor man's barometer, poor man's weather-glass, shepherd's weather glass or shepherd's clock.

Some of the common names derive from the fact the flowers only open in sunlight, although you’d think Shepherds etc would notice the way the sun was shining without having to check the plant first. Also despite the name, it frequently comes in bright blue, and sometimes pink.

Native to Europe, Western Asia and North Africa, but now an invasive weed worldwide. This one was photographed in Waipukurau, NZ, by @purrdence, but we get the blue version in our own backyard here in Perth.

Used for a wide variety for medicinal purposes over the years, despite the lack of clinical evidence that it worked for any of them. Certainly, it can vary from ‘mostly harmless’ to ‘deadly poisonous’.

The Scarlet Pimpernel is the alias of Sir Percy Blakeney in the novel of the same name by Baroness Emma Orczy, and the fictional flower Elanor is said to be a little enlarged version of pimpernel, according to one of J. R. R. Tolkien's letters.

Also, I was working on some colour schemes for Apprentice/2 and this is what I came up with. At first, I was thinking about making him black and pink, but this black and fuchsia also looks nice. Not sure about the blue and grey one though.

January 16th: Pimpernel (Anagallis arvensis, Lysimachia monelli)

Good morning everyone! Gonna admit, I had to change this one from 'pickerelweed', whatever the fuck that was. SO!! Let's start.

Tumblr ate my post. FUCKING TWICE. I'm genuinely so mad. This is the fourth draft of this post. It has given me A TERRIBLE TIME.

According to, like, a couple things (I'm not bothered), there are a couple variants, and because I'm extra, I'll be doing both of 'em.

Pimpernel is a trailing weed, under air (yey, another air one!) and mercury (planet). There are two main variations of it, but they're both pretty.

Starting with the red/scarlet pimpernel; This flower is also called the shepherd's weatherglass, as it's flowers open in the sun, and close in the dark and the rain.

In all the sources that I consumed, it means assignation, change (which is pretty on-point, considering the nature), faithfulness, and mirth.

And, uh, because Tumblr ate my post 3 times and I'm salty af about it, you're only getting the copy/pasted version of the blue one.
