Hey welcome back! No worries dude, I'm surprised that you'd want a list from me specifically!

This is kind of a huge question! I wouldn't say I have many favourites of all-time. Above all I enjoy seeing deep emotional connections between characters, and if they have canon interactions like that then I'll enjoy it platonic or otherwise if I feel there's romantic undertones! Since you're specifically asking for romance though, I can talk about the more recent ones I got into lately!

Believe it or not, I didn't really ship anyone in Death Note until last year LOL. I never participated in this fandom before! Maybe because I was too young when I first watched it to enjoy the nuance of L and Light's dynamic. They've skyrocketed to fave territory obviously! I'd even go as far to say that shipping lawlight adds another layer of appreciation for the series!

I think the most bizarre one I got into was (and evidently still is based on recent events) definitely hijack! I never ship crossovers, like it fundamentally breaks my rule about canon connection but HERE WE ARE. Where did it come from??? They won't ever even TALK. The rotbtd fandom has something in the water, lemme tell ya. (Actually I very much could go on a long ramble about how much I love Jack and Hiccup separately and together but not right now, I'm embarrassed lol) ((I also shipped other characters in this crossover, who am I kidding))

Oldest one is by far SasuNaru and I think that one speaks for itself lol.

Here's a list off the top of my head of other ships I've enjoyed! I'm honestly curious to find out if anymore sites are still active. probably not but surprises are welcomed! Oh, and a couple of fic recs: Chase the Wind by kayura_sanada, gaanaru soulmate AU, and the world building. just. it's worth it. and you have characters actually THINKING, like, using their brains.  the other one is Surface Breaker by Shizuku749. Canon divergent, but oh, OH, all the friendships and character growth and lots of platonic ShikaNaru and just...my little heart loves it. It also brings up some good points re: Sarutobi's decisions and Naruto actually going "Okay you know what, some of these WERE BS."

how i feel about this character:     i literally cannot express how much LOVE my knucklehead ninja boy. i added him on a whim like . maybe two-ish years ago ? and i was NOT expecting just how quickly he captured my heart. i’ve always been a sasuke and shikamaru stan so my ass was like ://// fr ????  naruto ?????  what a LOSER ????  but then i started writing him and i went ????!!!!!!  he’s one of my comfort muses fr.  i just feel myself slipping into a better headspace when i’m writing him.

all the people i ship romantically with this character:     god romance with naruto …… he’s so affectionate and really just falls head over heels so quick ?  but my favorite pairings in no particular order are gaanaru,  nejinaru,  sakunaru,  sasunaru,  and shikanaru !  i know naruhina is like . The ship for a lot of people but idk i’ve never really enjoyed it beyond being a cute one - sided crush / idolization that hinata eventually grows out of, and the existence of boruto only exacerbates that skdjkds

my non-romantic otp for this character:     see above !  what i like so much about naru is that he loves so so so deeply whether it’s a platonic or familial or romantic relationship !!!  beyond those friendships,  i really love the mentor - student dynamic he gets with iruka,  jiraiya,  and kakashi !  also really like the broship he’s got going on with konohamaru:  that kid is pretty much his little brother.

my unpopular opinion about this character:     i’m not really sure what popular opinions exist tbh ?  i guess that something i’ve kinda seen floating around that i personally disagree with is the idea that he’s a bad father because he never grew up with any parental or mentor figures in his life.  you’re telling me that naruto, a literal orphan who practically raised himself, DOESN’T know how damaging it can be to have absent parents ? that he isn’t aware of how important a parent’s active involvement and presence is in their child’s life ?  i personally feel like what i’ve seen of his relationship with his wife and kids in boruto COMPLETELY butchered his characterization.

one thing i wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:     get rid of that rebirth / reincarnation thing.  i hate it a lot !!!!!  completely undermines everything naruto stood for and everything that made him appealing as the underdog of his story.

my otp:     ok ok if you’re gonna make me CHOOSE ?  gaanaru or sasunaru !  idk i just have a thing for the red oni blue oni dynamic.  naruto has two hands :/ that’s all i’m saying ://// sakunaru is rly sweet too ....... but idk there’s a lot of baggage within ANY team 7 pair.

my cross over ship:     a pair that would work REALLY well is naruto & orihime inoue from bleach ?  maybe that’s in a more platonic sense but idk i feel like they’d bounce off each other very well and they’d be sweet !

a headcanon:     naruto is literally always BURNING.  he’s a furnace.  cuddling with him is like having an uncomfortably warm moving body pillow in your bed,  only it gets pouty and acts like a literal three year old when you move away from it for too long.

What do you ship besides ShikaIno and SaiIno? (Not necessarily with Ino, I’m curious)

One thing about me is that typically I don’t end up liking the ships that become ‘canon’ in shonen manga or anime. It’s not that I hate them (well not all of them) but I just preferred the relationships that I feel had more growth and symbolism 💁🏻

Here are some of my top ships in Naruto (in no order):

1) Naruto x Sasuke : I mean…come on. THEY ARE AND WILL ALWAYS BE SOULMATES. The ENTIRE PREMISE OF NARUTO IS ABOUT THESE TWO. they are practically obsessed with each other 👏🏻

2) Shikamaru x Ino: best friends turned lovers is my favourite type of love. literally the most interconnected duo in all naruto based on every aspect of their life, from their upbringings, to their losses, to their jutsus. Love their relationship in general, romantic or platonic 😍

3) Naruto x Sakura: yup another ship with Naruto that definitely saw a lot of potential and was soooo disappointed by the end 🙈 I mean, he constantly encouraged and did everything for her and Sakura was just motivated to be stronger because of him. I hope Kishimoto is still sleeping on the couch lol (his wife was a NaruSaku shipper) 

4) Kiba x Hinata: the beauty and the beast 🌹 Kiba is pretty similar to Naruto in personality and I’ve been more attracted to KibaHina more than NaruHina because I feel like Kiba can bring that ‘wilder’ side of Hinata while Hinata can soften Kiba’s rough exterior. Opposites attract

5) Sai x Ino: just throwing in my top canon favourite. Initially I felt cheated when Sai and Ino became a couple because I felt like it was an afterthought. However, Ino saving Sai was the highlight of Shikamaru Hiden (I did not like the Hiden in general). So much symbolism and depth, I can’t help but love ☺️ And thanks to them, my boy Inojin was born~

Other ships that I enjoy that are worth mentioning: 

SaiSaku, SasuIno, KakaGai, GaaNaru, GaaLee, KakaYama, KakaRin, KakaSaku (guilty), ChoKar &  ShikaTema (just because I ship ShikaIno doesn’t mean that I hate ShikaTema or Temari. I prefer ShikaIno’s dynamic and  I do like Temari during OG Naruto & most of Shippuden. Temari Sabaku > Temari Nara).

Ships don’t always have to be romantic so most of the ships I mentioned are also my some of favourite friendSHIPS as well.

So there you have it. 

I did not cover Boruto Ships or brOTPs (maybe I’ll do a separate post) but hopefully you’ll be seeing some art pertaining to these couples in the future 🌝

How I feel about this character

A pretty damn fast and unrealistic character development, but after some time I actually forgot about this flaw. I mean, from 100% psychopath to Naruto’s fanclub president AND Kazekage? mmkay.

But on the other hand, I can’t hate him. Shippuuden made him a very likable character. I guess he’s the kind of person who always wanted a chance to be good in everyone’s eyes, I just thought that well...it’d take more time to do it. (then again, 3 years timeskip yeah...)

Now he, on the other hand, I feel like it had a more believable change of heart. I think that he’s still stoic and struggles a little getting into his team’s shenanigans, but he’s very close to them due to Naruto’s help. And yeah...his death is like...*shakes of head*

Naruto and Neji, still. Imo, the whole “you pulled me out of darkness Naruto” is like...oh Neji. 

My unpopular opinion about this character

I think the fact that I ship a incest ship (my one and only btw guys don’t get freaked out) is already very unpopular opinion lmao. BUT, even if you dislike NejiHina, you have to admit that their platonic relationship brings the best of them. Neji treats Hinata very gently and respects her, he doesn’t belittle her even if he’s more talented than her. Hinata on the other hand, also loses her shyness around him and gets inspired in training more with him. (plus, gives her more depth to her character instead of going Naruto Naruto Naruto)

Spin however you want, but Shikamaru did enact revenge on Hidan for Asuma’s death. And how the hell his revenge is justified and painted in a good light, but Sasuke’s trying to kill Itachi is not okay? I mean, if Sasuke didn’t go to Orochimaru and continued in Konoha, Kakashi would still continue to drill on him about how revenge is not good and blabla. That’s something that always bewildered me.

Eh, although Shikamaru pretty much turned how I expected him to become, I’m seriously annoyed that Temari became banshee wife” that doesn’t fit her at all. Why. The manga showed that they had a balanced relationship and COME TO THINK ABOUT IT, why the fuck Temari retired and--ok, this is not about Temari. Anyways...you got what I mean.
