Annnnd also, very important update on Aislynn's Borked Up Computer...

Still borked up but Georgette (the computer) and I are working out a system:

Turn computer on

Pray it does not blow up

Thank God when it does not blow up

Check to make sure that all of the drivers are still correct and haven't been "helpfully" rolled back by Windows, Dell, the demon who apparently infected a bunch of Dells at the factory level, etc.

Try not to stare at the Nvidia light every time it comes on

Remind self it's okay for the Nvidia light to be on because it's, you know, the graphics card and does have legit things to do

Check Windows Reliability Monitor

Check the health and temperature of the C drive

Check the time

Those last two are important because in about an hour to 2 hours, Georgette will begin to just feel off in some way. Go back and check health and temp. Completely shut down computer if temp has raised (which, to be fair, I think the temp going up, like, 1 degree is normal with use but it's just something I can look at and makes me feel more like I have some sort of control).

If we make it to 2 hours up time without a problem, shut down anyway.

Leave off for a while. Switch to Fire tablet with its awesome, new $9 Bluetooth keyboard \o/ 🥳🤷‍♀️😉and spend some time writing the next chapter of whatever fic I'm working on (currently "15 Minutes" chapter 9) in a Tumblr draft.

Eventually come back to computer and turn it on again. Weirdly now, it should feel a little steadier than the first "session" and can run as long as 10 hours without feeling like it's about to fall over, explode, or all of the above. I do not understand why this is but... it is. 🤷‍♀️

Try not to keep looking at the Nvidia light every time it comes on but, for Pete's sake, that looked so cool when I first got Georgette, like she was some Fancy Gaming PC™️ and now it just gives me anxiety.

Eventually shut down and feel like it was a Good Computer Day if we made it through without a blue screen event.

I'd ideally like to get an entire week with no blue screening, then please, Dear Lord, a whole month, then I want to try installing Steam again. This may end very badly because I know the computer is NOT stable but she's more stable than before. I just want to play Halo again, friends. I miss it so, so much.

I also want this computer, which has so much potential to be a genuinely amazing gaming/vidding rig, to live up to that, one day. 64GBs of RAM should not go into vapors and die because I'm watching a video on Youtube while checking my email. That's just wrong. 😭I know Georgette can be a great PC, can make up for this incredibly rough first 7 weeks of her life. We just need to get this dang BIOS/OS/driver/whatever Incompatibility Demon out of her.

Been rereading 17776 and also watching Jon Bois' PRETTY GOOD series on youtube and I gotta say. He was so well and truly ahead of his time and even now in what is likely the golden age of video essays where everyone is racing to make a video 3x as long as it needs to be he was making high quality vids about random topics with far more style and substance 10 years ago. It's actually amazing I haven't seen anyone try and mimic his unique style, he's truly one of a kind.

If you need an example, watch THE DUMBEST BOY ALIVE which is a recounting of a fitness forum thread where people argue how many days are in a week. You can get a dime a dozen videos going over threads from reddit or 4chan, tumblr or twitter, but few will bother to put half the level of care Bois does here while even adding to the story and not just rereading it post by post yes I know it's because youtube rewards high output low quality these days but let me have my point please thank you :)

Had another divorce hearing this morning (at this point, 3+ years into the damn process, I've had close to 20 hearings… which is just… yeah.)

The good ish news is, the ex didn't show up again. It's good because every time he does show up, I inevitably have nightmares after seeing his ugly (and abusive) mug. The bad news is, it's a cruel form of hope because it makes me think he won't show up the next time and then he does.

Today was my first time self representing and it gave me a ton of anxiety the past few days. Well, that and the whole fundraising efforts for April rent and bills. I haven't gotten much sleep, maybe a couple hours here and there.

It was a trial setting conference, basically a hearing to decide if the parties are ready or not for moving forward and it's the only reason I was even semi okay with self rep. I now need to work on finding a pro bono lawyer that's gonna help with the last (hopefully) bit of this cursed divorce… I'm not looking forward to that process because I have very little hope I'll find someone good. Not with the luck I've had.

However, it's a different judge than the one that was seemingly empathetic to the ex. It's also the one who will be making the final decision, which is set for September 6th. I have until mid August to file the last papers so there's still a few months of pro bono lawyer searching… Blegh.

The worst part about today was having to listen to other cases (as you do for these goddamn hearings). There was one that triggered me deeply and it made me angry that that person was verbal vomiting and being selfish. I know more than anyone else how frustrating it is but I also think it's selfish to subject other people to your traumas because YOU need to be heard, over what the judge was saying as well (that this is not the time and place).

So yeah. I'll be decompressing the rest of the day and doing nothing because, as usual, it was stupidly stressful.

Last but not least, thanks a ton to everyone for sharing the mutual aid post as well as friends who have sent funds. I appreciate y'all greatly and it's helping me hang on to what little sanity I have left.

45. Name a few characters you relate to?

In the TPiaG cast, I relate to everyone pretty equally! They all reflect different facets of my personality and life experiences, at least with how I've written them. As for characters that aren't mine / in TPiaG... Oof. Oh man. I'm going to embarrass myself doing this, I just know it. But here goes nothing. Now presenting the informal Sincerely-Sofie kin list!

Ranboo and TommyInnit's characters from Dream SMP

I'd never heard of Ranboo as a content creator before my friends busted in the door to my DMs to say his character was Literally Sofie and I needed to check these compilation videos of him Right This Very Second. I didn't believe them at first. But then I watched a couple vids and was like "Ah. I see. He IS Literally Sofie."

I had to avoid watching anything put out by Ranboo for his DSMP character because the guy's acting was so good I would feel down for days after watching his lore. That one scene in the panic room where he's talking with the voice in his head hit too close to home, and I couldn't watch anything else by him afterward because it would send me backsliding emotionally. It was very cathartic, don't get me wrong! But psychosis was a bit too fresh of a wound at the time for me to start revisiting.

TommyInnit's character is one that I think people might be surprised I relate to, but his prey animal rage is something I find very relatable. I might be projecting too many headcanons onto him, however. I've written a fair number of fics focusing on Tommy, and I never was certain if he was very in-character.

Hunter from The Owl House

I haven't watched The Owl House in full, and don't have the means to do so, but Oh My Word. Hunter is just me in a different outfit. Geeky little ADHD-having, people-pleasing, dumb-dumb itty bitty trauma-experiencing baby boy. I see him and I see my teenage self. That one scene in that montage where the main cast are in the human world and he gets a haircut because he's having issues with his hair being triggering? I've lived that! I hardly have to project onto him because he's already me.

Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle (the movie specifically)

Book Sophie is too sassy for me to compare myself to, haha. But movie Sophie is pretty relatable! Being hesitant yet impulsive, lacking confidence when it comes to herself but finding it easy to take a leadership role and advocate for others— heck, I even had identical hair to her when I was younger, complete with those annoying little wispy hairs coming out from her hairline! I also used to have a habit of talking to inanimate objects before anxiety beat that trait out of me.

One might assume the name was a contributing factor to me relating to her. Now would probably be a good time to reveal Sofie is just a pen name, not my real one ^^;

i'm glad you enjoyed them too! i think cotton is such a cute endearment like it fits her so well bc she really gives off cotton ball energy. that's actually the first time i heard him call her that but then again maybe i just haven't watched enough vods (esp the ones from eons ago) 😅

If you want a more in-depth look at the Vault there's the DSMP world download. IvoryTV has a much better escape vid that I'll send what's slightly "wrong" with it in another ask near my bedtime so I can actually sit down peaceful to write it.

There's also a tutorial series by LordKanter. I haven't watched it yet, but it looks promising!

to be fair i did not go that far in his vid i only watched his deadalus labyrinth and two of his escapist debunk's video (omziscool is getting wrecked it's so funny) and didn't get to go very deep in the prison community as a whole (i haven't even watched a single one of ivorytv's video) so if you are interested in that topic do not take example on me i have no ideas what i'm even doing.

I'm intrigued by whatever Ivory and Lordkanter did so please share your ramblings but i can't promise i'm going to watch it (i have like 40+ creators i'm trying to binge watch rn)

It is CRAZY to me that Misha would think he ‘hasn’t accomplished anything’ in his life (yet.) (When he was talking in his BURCON panel about not writing an autobiography because he doesn’t feel he has achieved anything?? MADNESS. I actually scoffed.)

Someone really needs to sit that man down and enumerate all the amazing things he’s done so far in his life. Emphatically. Make him realize how incredible his life has been so far and remind him of all the fantastic things he’s done and achieved.

Some people write entire memoirs about just one event in their life. Successful, fascinating memoirs!

And I passionately disagree with the “maybe I’ll write it when I’m old” argument. You forget SO MUCH of your life if you don’t write it down. I’d go so far as to say you forget MOST of your life when you don’t write it down. Waiting til you’re old is a terrible idea. You will forget the little things that make your life a real life. You’ll forget how things felt, what you thought, so much of the minutiae that makes your life yours and not just a highlights reel cobbled together at the end. Please don’t wait to write. This goes for everybody. Write yourself down. Just do it. Now. Please.

I too disagree with him, a lot. Does he think we all follow him like ducklings follow their mother for just his good looks and shoulder to waist ratio???? That man has led such a fascinating & full life and has done so much good. I can only hope to accomplish a percentile of that. He is an absolute inspiration to me personally day in day out. Like someone who has lacked non judgemental parental guidance in her life, Misha has become a voice in my head to help me figure the world & myself out. Idk what he is on about with "I haven't accomplished anything in my life" bs. On the other hand, even that thought of him helps me because I can clearly see how people misjudge their accomplishments and it makes me more aware of my own perhaps. All in all, Misha has been great for my soul so far 💞

As for writing things down when you are younger, Ive never thought about that but you are right! I hope he does, I mean he can always go back and watch his spn panels to jog his memory, still I bet his juiciest stories still aren't all im there so.

“That maybe inadvisable.” Oobleck offered.

“Why? Like Yang said, he's good. I watched the video, and even I can see I would have a hard time facing him.” Pyrrha responded.

“It's because of the nature of the style. It's a Killing Art. It's mean to kill humans and faunus. I have severe doubts that it would be effective against any grimm except those that are humanoid like.” Oobleck handed Yang back her scroll before clasping his hands on his desk before him. “Now, that is just an assumption on my part. It may very well be effective, but there is only one way to prove that, and I highly doubt Mr Arc would be willing to test it out; considering...”

“He's refusing to use it.” Pyrrha commented.

“Correct.” Oobleck regarded his two pupils for a few moments, “I wonder if I can ask a favour of both of you?”

“A favour?” Yang asked.

“What is this favour?”

“I was wondering if either you, or both of you, would be willing to approach Mr Arc and ask him if I could have a copy of that video for research purposes.”

“I made the vid...”

“I am aware of that, Ms Xiao Long. A video of a private family style that he wished no one to see. That you made without his consent. So before I ask for a copy, he needs to be aware that it exists. If he says yes, drop by my office or classroom and I will transfer it to my scroll. If he says no... or worse.”

“You would like me to delete the video?” Yang half asked, half sighed.

“I would.” Oobleck gave Yang a smile, “I understand why you did it, and it is commendable, but also remember, both of you. This is special to Mr Arc. If he wanted everyone to know about it, he would let others see him in action. That is not the case, so if he is unwelcome to the existence of that video. Delete it.”

“I TRUSTED YOU!” Jaune screamed at Yang as she stood next to Pyrrha; Jaune before them in a tank top and a pair of loose fitting night pants. “How could you?”

“We're worried about you, Jaune!” Yang shot back. “You're struggling, and we want to help. We do!”

“So not only record me without asking, or telling me, but you go behind my back and tell my partner and THEN go see one of the Professors? How is that HELPING ME!”

“Jaune, calm down. We went to Doctor Oobleck to find out what your style was. Not to hurt you. We want to understand. You are getting better with Crocea Mors, but what Yang showed me, and what we talked about...” Pyrrha paused, taking in the absolutely enraged face of her partner and crush, “I now see what she does, even if she had to point out. You're struggling, and we can get you past it. Just be honest...”

“HONEST! HONEST! I have been!”

“NO you HAVEN'T!” Yang shot back. “If you were, at least your PARTNER would know about the training you have. Screw the rest of us. Pyrrha should have been told!”

“Jaune please?” Pyrrha tried to plead, hoping her voice would push the blonde boy away from his current emotional state. “If you could help us understand. Give us your reasons.”

“You want my reasons?” Jaune snarled.

“Please.” Pyrrha asked again, attempting to keep her voice even and soft.

“And what different will that make? You obviously don't respect my decision.”

“It's not that.” Yang cut in.

“What is it, then?”

“We don't understand, why. You're right, it is your decision on what skills you want to use. But we can't figure out WHY you want to struggle so much when you don't have to.” Yang replied as she held her scroll out to Jaune. “Delete the video. It's the only one there is. Only P-money and Oobleck have seen it. But open up to us. You told us about your transcripts, and we accepted it. We listened to your reasons, so please... can you do it once more?”

“Can you all shut the fuck up!” screamed Cardin as he stormed out of his team's dorm room at the far end of the hall. “Some of us want to fucking sleep, Arc! So take those two bitches of yours and fuck the fuck off!”

“What did you just call them?” Jaune snarled as he turned to face his former bully and current bane of combat class.

“So you want to fight about it? Fine, let's go Jauney-boy.” Cardin snapped as he saw Jaune raising his arms up, fists clenched. “No Goodwitch here to keep me from curb stomping your pathetic ass!”
